I still have over 700 hours of playtime on my thief however as it’s my main profession and 90% of the time i’m playing WvW, I can’t even begin to express how weak the class is due to recent over-powerful nerfs and it has led many people to switch to classes like engy or warrior. Go look into the thief forums for awhile and you will soon discover what i’m talking about.
Im imaging you wanting to burst down everything in 3 or 4 seconds, still possible and people still doing it even on bunker classes, you sir need to refit you trais.

I’d come to the defense of guardians and say ’don’t touch retaliation, this is a l2p issue’ but most of you basked in the glory of the confusion nerf and snickered while reading the thread leading up to its demise.
So, oh well.
Retaliation will be nerfed again and Anet will continue to nerf in response to the mass e-tears displayed on the forums from the zerglings.

Best way in my opinion is a redesign of WvW to a much larger maps and if possible have huge castles and resource points, players are forced to spread, and try to maintain certain points for server points a bonus stats(less people blobbing).
Its not retalition problem is a WvW concept problem.

People are mad becouse they want to continue spam skils while target has retaliation, retaliations is here and people need to know when to stop.
You just want to keep being rewarded with free damage by standing in enemy AoE.

This doesn’t happen in Tier 1. You’re on Tier 7 though, so I understand where the confusion comes from. Retaliation is meant to be a short duration defensive skill. The fact that it is up indefinitely in WvW is what breaks the Boon.

tame a dragon and put some AC’s on it! J/K asside, on the reset nights we can have full maps on the 3 sides, one thing i notice is that players dont gather on a massive blob but on severel minor zergs 30/60max and not the 120+ as a see from some t1 screens, so the problem is the massive stacking of the boon and blast finishers are happening al te time, and in my opinion is a health bar battle it is needed a good health pool and defense to sustain damage and retaliation, atm 300-340 damage per tick isnt that much (on single target), and any change to it might hurt to some classes, yeah gw2 mechanics mmeh.

ps. no just want to ashame bad thiefs with retaliation, who think they can easilly insta kill, on my play time theres no AoE.

They do care, with their wallet, they aint going to do anything because they are hoping you will shelve out 30$ for a paid server transfer.
end WvW and make internal server Guild Wars taking the forts in tyria :P problem solved.

I’ve to say since tier 7 NA is mostly necros and thiefs during my playtime, i use a heavy retaliation build and 3 in 10 thief die just becouse they ignore the retaliation buff on my guardian and just want “blindly” to kill n’ laugh, while good/or common WvW players know how to counter it or wait to boon disapear then they can burst.
There are serious problems in this game yet people pay atention to minor stuff that is a l2p issue.

easy fix, re-roll that same class and abuse it till they nerf it
on t7 there teams of 5 or 6 thief and necros boon rippers, with some d/d eles mixtured, what else is needed?
or change WvW entirely ….
Not having siege despawn constantly would make me defend more.
not having siege despawn would have some guy from other transfer into your server and build loads of rams in your keep and reach max siege builted, and if you cant despawn or destroy your entire server would be in trouble.
P.S having a siege despawn is also bad, imo but thats why the game is so kitten kitty.

… there are several ways to stop it, you juest need to be alert.
Sometimes is even fun to let the mesmer deploy the portal.

looks very good, but i prefer to wait and see what will happen, as more maps means less population on lower tiers due low ww crew, ill wait to see how the maps will be put together or there will be a huge new map.
P.S castles still are like shrines with walls and map still to kitten small

If castle or tower had interior structures, there would be a good place to place traps, more choke points, and AC actual range would make more sense.

I doubt it’s even possible to have 3200 power.
For Borderlands, 370 damage is about 2,3k power.

Siege already have wheels, put them to work
if i recall Doylaks on GW1 had 1 guy mounted, " Doylak Master wvw trait " were you could use a camp to spawn your doylak and then starting build with supply the weapon pack.
(Movable slow siege.
Doylak mount siege weapon / or Doylak transporter to carry group builted siege to deplpoy when taking castle.
Very very large batlefield., i cant imagine this siege on the small wvw maps we have.
Full complete castles instead of gw1 shrines with walls, has we have now.)

Lower that dmg done to people..If you notice a tower is filled with ac’s..you either have to clear it all out with trebs wich takes time,and is boring.

Not everyone wearing full toughness/vit ( And no it shouldnt be a requirement to be wearing either ).Either tone down the dmg,and also make it that Ac’s will cost 60 – 80 supps.
AC’s are the most used sieges in this game,does the most dmg..Yet is far to cheap to build.
AC’s are mainly to counter players, range its fine, on this i blame map design, as being able to almost keep-tower fight just with AC’s (i understand this as a bad desing and its ugly to play and watch), the damage could be reduced and AOE effect larger, about the other siege well, there could be created a weakness/defense triangle, IMO it is what makes more sense.
Some siege have to get a lower fire rate, while AOE effect reduced to and damage and efect raised , ex: catapult more damage KD on cone AOE and more damage to other siege.

IMO it is notmal do die on a 1vs1 to a thief, thats their role and thats why they have the ability to reset combat, now on a 3vs3 lets say 3 guardians vs 3 thiefs guardian group will win no matter what thiefs do, if otherwise guardians are doing something wrong.
I still do 4-8k+ damage on my thief to guardians and wammos and more to light armors, i dont see the problem with thiefs being nerfed atm and i rarely need to reset combat, used scorpion wire to drag opponents into a overextended situation.
On the guardian since my build is more defensive than atacking (arround 21k health with 2200-2400 toughness ) i can be shatered by thiefs in ~3-5 seconds its normal here, while on goup playing its its the other way.
Huge wvw map and openbox(small sandbox) game should fix it
, and put gw2 into road of next gen mmo’s.
GvG, guild halls, guild hall battles, fortress battles (fortress located in PvE envirnoment) and guild epic raid instances I miss. In general I don’t care much about yes/no trinity. However, another game I play has nice solution where the user can switch from DD to his class specific role, e.g., healer or tank. Like that everybody can be DD and everybody needs to choose 1 essential role he/she can play.
Ragnarok Online (played on KRo and EuRo)had plenty of that, the actual WvW is a bad concept of siege gameplay, if any one put walls and AC’s on gw1 AB,players would have a copy of WvW, theres no reward by doing WvW, i dont die much about 1 or 2 times on reset night, but the castle rewards are futile, towers, castles are dammn small, thats what i miss most from old mmo, large WvW map and large castle with interiors paths were guilds had to set traps cloaked thiefs and much much more(and was possible to maintain a castle for several weeks).
Cant talk about DAOC i didnt played it much.
Todays games are wanabe or bad ideas of the old games, one thing i have have learned is that better graphics does not mean better support or better development.
Think that is the main reason for me leaving GW2 (temporarily?) behind (yes, I’m sad to say I haven’t logged in in more than four weeks now, even though I thought the game was pretty awesome) and picking up League of Legends.
Pretty much what will happen to this game, Sandbox and openbox will kill it for sure in a near future(2yrs).
Atm i only log for reset night and even that might end, theres no credit in game time played when 5minutes you lost the shrine (woops wanted do say tower) you had conquered.
Living story IMO is nothing of what Anet says it is, or at least i dont feel like it, i am not feeling the imersive and live world, just some popup at the right corner saying “goto X” talk and leave wait for next content.

Below is my build. It isn’t very good I assume. I like playing mace/shield as I like to heal/support and I think it look kittening kitten. I also like staff as secondary for obvi reasons. I play WvW almost exclusively. Can anyone help me out with a good mace/shield build? Or if mace/shield is worthless for WvW let me know as well. I wear full knights armor (except gloves are soldiers) and all my trinks/jewelry are soliders.

When my Mesmer gets a new nerf I just play my thief for a few days to feel OP(and save money for new gear).
pretty much the same, atm i will only use the guardian on reset nights, thief for the rest.

On group its guardian, but in a group of 2 or solo, thief.
With my main that is a guardian when i see a thief is dammn hard, or he will escape and none dies wich is already nice imo, or i am obliterad in 2 or 3 seconds, when on my thief guardians are my main target becouse it is the easyest profession to get down due low health pool and toughness is a placebo since there are no tanks or very bulky professions, still criting 3k+ or sometimes 8k per hit, their healing is not a problem my iniciative recovers fast, i can reset my combat, mug heals when i need
loved the update, i apply conditions faster than a guardian can take them out with meditations, apply poison when they try to signet heal to reduce healing, its just a matter of hit n run then burst.
P.S i dont like to talk about my guardian stats but is somehting arround 240healing power ; 2400 toughness and 20k to 25k health, it funny how game accepts massive DPS and burst damage and not the other path as to counter it.

Yesterday we were defending Durios, so I tried setting up an arrow cart and it got destroyed almost immediately, even though I had set it up to be hidden behind the bridge. It turns out that it was killed by an arrow cart that was closer to Stonemist than it was to Durios. Is this really intended?
I marked where I tried building my arrow cart with a red dot in the attached map, and where the enemy arrow cart was with a blue dot. (The screenshot is not from that battle, I’m just using it to show positions.)
Working as intended. I want to say that traited the AC’s have a 3500 range lol.
I was writing a long text but decided to delete becouse theres alot of bad gamming concepts here (IMO).
When turned into wvw is one of the worse concept ever, its the same with AB but with walls and tools to get them down, is this a new gametime? NO. WvW
would be better if maps were larger, no Building to building siege due map distance, and this AC range proves that map are small for this kind of fights, next we will see AC spam from keep to tower fights, with larger maps groups would had to build trebs on the field with longer range a/c to protect, and players on walls would do the same.

well with living content, they can add small pieces each time, but if anything goes that way, will be Tyria→elona and maybe factions then, but i guess theres no expansions on the next 2-3 years.
Game needs 1st to envolve on pve / spvp / wvw , needs to be more “living” and proly a bit of sanbox (wich would be great for those RP’s).
i would like to replay history and choose durmand priory over vigil…. since now its not possible to transmute the gear to non durmand character.
I would do it even if would reset all my character storyline.
You’d expect someone looking for difficulty in WvW to look to the actual players, not the NPC’s…
PvE is a part of WvW. It cannot be ignored. It is everywhere and part of many fights. I am normally a roamer looking for 1v1s and skirmishes, but I still help my team by PvEing it up.
What will the lowest tiers do then? On the lowest tiers, especially at night (for USA) there are barely like 10 active players on the map
If it takes 8 to retake a camp, 16 to retake a keep and 30 to retake a garrison, you have just doomed the weakest servers to an era of mediocrity.
I play on HoD. I also work 3rd shift. I AM the people you are talking about. I can solo flag guards. I can solo supply camps. I can solo a tower if player resistance doesn’t stop me.
We weakest servers already live in an era of mediocrity. Maybe, if they scaled the PvE levels (guards/walls/doors) to the amount of players in the Zone? I don’t know. I’m spitballin’ here. It’s just too easy and I’d like to hear ideas for making WvW more challenging and hence more fun.

thiefs are pretty fine in wvw, i’ve seen much variaty now, altough on the mug “balance” if thief already have full health it could give random boon IMO or more 1sec stealh by chance.
and yes thiefs are the best ones to 1vs1, probably some builds arent great for that and require more like a group play, while solowers might have problems when fighthing in group due spike
i dont care about daily or monthly but somehow im able to make 2 w/o problems on wvw, so its fine!
P.S: made the May monthly yesterday, was pretty amuzing to achieve something that i dont care lol(played like 1h per day or sometimes just logged to chat.. )
This is why thief community is so harsh and desperated at the moment. We have already been nerfed and other nerfs are on the way, still silly people complain and whine about us.
Do you think we’re OP? Roll a thief and let’s see if we are really OP as you say. People in wvwvw die because of thieves because EVERY thief is built for dueling and 1v1 while 80% of the wvwvw people are built for group fights. In fact in sPvP we are the most “meh” class after warriors.
yes people try to solo thiefs in what they do best, even if atacker is not built for wvw support has i believe most arent,1vs1 is were thief masters so its common to loose there.
Most anoying class is thief with cloak n’hit redundancy with alot of condicions, but for raw damage i always took slower but heavy damage from warriors, both are good atm.

i’ve facing groups of 6-8 thiefs +1 or 2 mesmers,i can say it is normal to find tealther group.
used builds with 1.6k on healing power now i run with only 225 to 340 on heal, have better “tanking time” and survivability, cleric gear make you lose alot imo, but that also can deppend on how you play the guardian, maybe for some cleric gear and low hp is a good way.

keep/Towers/castle are dammn easy to take when it only needs to be trbed from other keep/Towers/castle, in some you can even be almost ACarting tower-tower with it.
Golem rush.
zerg brings supply for 5 trebs,spike build.
castle conquered.

it happens alot, we could say the same about 2 days ago while we defended SM, GOM was trebing and invading from north while DR was in south of SM, but every one knows that was not what it looked like.
There were worse situations that happened in the past when HoD and GoM at each gate with a combined atack when NSP took HoD keep in EB, wich is not like what is happening now.

CC and group damage negation is probably the surefire way to “tank” in this game as there is no official aggro table that is known.
There is the rumor and some experimentation of having high toughness attracting PvE mobs. The only thing that I’ve seen officially said by a Dev was proximity plays a role.
When taking camps on wvw the guild NPC, always comes after me ignoring like 5-15 players in front of me, i end with the npc running in circles, while waiting for the RI.
On dungeons, i can notice im the most spiked member on the team, sometimes it remmebers the 55hp monk :S.

You only get these kind of fights, organization, teamwork and tactics at higher tiers.
Apparently, you don’t fight Arborstone in EU T8. They come until the queue is full then you wipe them with less than half their guys. The good thing is that they come back again and again giving you tons of loot. The bad is that they don’t reward you much WXP…

(but yes theres also servers that go all peeps avaliable to 1 place if they cant conquer with equal numbers, but thats also a tactic :/ ).

I would love to see more armor variation, people starting to be like copy paste or armor or armor mix.
humm i was afraid when readed the AC update but at the momment it doesnt hurt that much (imo), when being hitted by several AC’s, i just cant keep rushing in 1 direction, need to get back look at the map and see where i can deploy siege to counter it, dont care even if a treb need to be placed :P

It could be possible, while capping camps the Guild claiming NPC runs always behind me, (we run arround in circles whyle every just watches…).
here is my randomness
+1 heavy class – Paragon – spear or sword (melee) and shield
+1 medium armor – Ministrel (why not? they even had a prank about it).
+1 light armor (Dervish , fast scythe user, and other weapon ) and a trait that could give several personal boons very similiar to gw1.
the 2 bosses at then end so far is the only thing i liked in pve….
I go there only to collect mats with guildies,I find the whole area to be very uninspired and depressing and yes too many mobs aggroing every 5 steps.
