Nobody besides thieves and mesmers would use elites then. Elites simply need to be balanced.
Lightning touch should be instant and a blind IMHO. Dagger/Dagger setup really lacks a blind.
Also, eles are punished much more for dying than any other class because they cannot interrupt stomps at all.
And you need to realize that ele only has 1 viable build.
Not even in wvw eles are the best. Healers maybe, but not dpsers. Grenadiers do just as much if not more aoe damage, and even have longer range.

play one. it IS the only viable build. I’d love to play a more damaging build but it’s simply not possible.

Of course it means nerfing. What else should it mean? Also, mentioning “watching” eles in the same sentance as the ridiculously OPed guardians and mesmers? That’s just aweful.
@dimyzuka: Condition spammers are hard counters for low health high toughness/healing tank eles. And also they don’t output any decent damage at all. The only thing they can do is take damage. And also that’s the only thing ele can do as a profession, it’s literally the only viable spec choice. So if that gets nerfed to the ground there is nothing left for ele to play.

So…it’s just you then…I play d/d or s/f in tournament and do great with both of them, the d/d is the best roamer/assaulter in the game while s/f is just a little different
Weapon selection has pretty much nothing to do with spec on ele. You can play tank with all the weapons, it’s still one and the only viable spec.
Also, if you really think D/D ele right now is the best roamer in the game you should seriously try to play another class too. Everything eles can do (besides being tanky/healy) any other class can do better. Engineers for example, or thieves.

WHAT? Does this mean you’re going to nerf the only viable spec that eles have? Because if you don’t go high toughness and heal on an ele you simply aren’t viable.
Ele damage output is extremely subpar, even more so in tank spec. Burst specs simply are not viable at all. And you’re “watching” (by what I get “waiting to nerf”) our only viable spec? So should I simply reroll right now?
Also, no mention of ele downed state?

I’d actually be happy with conjures if they were instant cast. Then you could use for example earth shield #5 in a clutch to make you invulnerable.

I’ll argue that firegrab and dragon’s tooth are about even when it comes to how hard it is to hit them (setup time vs extreme melee range). They both hit about the same, but dragon’s tooth has 6 seconds cooldown, while firegrab has 45. This seems insane. Firegrab doesn’t hit anywhere as hard as it did in the beta weekends, so a cooldown of around 15 seconds would be ok I think.

Yeah, also the Toss Elixir H tooltip is wrong, it states it has a chance to give swiftness, though in reality it gives (randomly) vigor.
Shields are pretty much amazing on all 3 classes that can use them.
LOL at people thinking xfire is representive. I know a kittenon of games yet none uses xfire.

Where does the engineer get all his ammo/bombs/grenades.
He goes through so much of the stuff, that it likely exceeds his own mass by several degrees.
Where does supply crate come from? What If I’m in some enclosed dungeon fighting ghosts… it gets teleported?
Why don’t engineers bombs hurt them? Seems logical.
Why does rifle have a 1000 range, but thrown grenades 1200?
Logic would dictate that a rifle is longer range than something that your arm throws.

5. And of course make conjures viable. Either have them lose the charges, make them instantcast but not give a second weapon, or something like that. They are okayish for pve, but completely unviable in pvp.
Yeah daggerstorm is insane. 90seconds cooldown for that much utility and damage? Insane!
1. Downed state. Either make 2 a knockback, or switch 2 and 3.
2. Autoattacks need buffs, pretty much all of them.
3. Most air damage skills need something extra because they are lackluster. Change dagger air 2 from weakness to blind for example
4. Somehow make it that we don’t have to fully spec into water and earth to be viable.
Racial skills are never affected by traits. For all the classes.

Give us a completely revised downed state. All our downed skills suck.
Are there any plans to make weaponswap sigils work for engineers? Right now we are not able to use 6-7 sigils in pvp, and most of them are extremely good (100% critchance, aoe chill, 50% endurance regeneration, etc.)
Elementalists got them working on swapping attunments, so why don’t they work when we swap kits? The sigils themselves already have cooldowns so it wouldn’t matter that our kits don’t.
I’d really love an official statement on this issue.
Mr. Big, where does a necro fall into this? Who should play a necro and for what purpose that isnt achieved BETTER by playing one of the top three classes? Who should play a warrior when they can play Guardian? Who should play any dps class when thief will outperform their dps and mobility?
Exactly. Why play the other classes when these 3 do the roles much better.

That’s because 8v8 is just pick up play for fun and learning, not for serious play. Play more 5v5 and the variety increases.
The point is hotjoin isn’t fun when it’s only for 4 classes. Also, there’s no point in doing tournaments alone because you’ll get stomped by premade teams.
If hotjoin is in the game it should be balanced.
When I’m downed on my Ele I simply go for a biobreak or get something to drink because it’s no use to do anything until I respawn. On all the other classes I have a fighting chance to rally.
Downed state is the #1 problem Eles have I think. It needs fixing fast.
I’m starting to lose interest fast in the game. 90% of pvp is made up of Guardian/Mesmer/Thief/Warrior. You don’t even see other classes anymore in sPVP because everyone rolled one of the only 4 viable ones.
For the last week I’ve seen pretty much 90% of the classes in all my sPVP games have been Mesmer/Guardian/Thief/Warrior. Occassionally you’ll see 1 of the other classes in a 8v8 game.
PVP simply isn’t fun anymore when half the classes aren’t even available because they simply suck compared to the top 4 classes who dominate them. There seriously needs to be some balancing, hopefully sooner rather than later.
I’d settle for a channeled aoe damage attack that puts a burning or slow condition on them. Because then you’d either be increasing your chance of downing someone yourself or give yourself more of an ability to run away in vapor form. (Doesn’t prevent the stomp thing as well unless the slow aoe has a huge range but they don’t seem that concerned about us having low stomp protection.)
I think there are 2 quick fixes available: Make #2 knockdown instead of a channeled root, or switch #2 and #3 so you can use vapor form to “interrupt” the first stomp.

I’m sorry for all the people who cannot rebind their keyboard, or use their fingers for more than WSAD.
Lightning Flash cannot be used to bridge gaps, yet the engineer rocket jump can be used to get over un-jumpable gaps. So lightning flash seems extremely bugged.
A badly played ele should not suck, they should be able to get by like a badly played thief or a badly played warrior. A well played ele should be able to do incredibly well just like a well played warrior or a well played thief. As soon as the same skill levels on different professions result in different returns you have an imbalance, and no amount of claiming everyone else is ‘bad’ will change that.
This is pretty much all that needs to be said. As long as this is not true (which it currently isn’t by FAR) there is a profession imbalance that needs fixing.
They’re also ripped entirely from warrior and elementalist elites, so not only is Elixer X unimaginative, but other classes get the same exact effects without the randomness. Add the fact that lots of elementalists complain about how horrible Tornado is, and it seems the joke’s on us.
Well to be fair engineers also get a lower cooldown on the skill for the added randomization. Both whirlwind and rampage have 3 minute cooldown, while Elixir X has 2.
At least the intent is there. Engineer 2 actually pulls enemies to you. Sure it’s technically useful for interrupting stomps, but… come on. (Full Disclosure: Engineer 3 is a PBAoE, but still.)
Actually I feel that Engineer has one of the better downed states. #2 interrupts stomping because it knocks down even if they are in melee range, and if they are range, you can pull them too you as soon as #3 comes off cooldown to PBAoE blast them away.
Also, if you time it right (the timing windows is extremely short) you can use #2 to interrupt the first stomp, and get to use #3 to interrupt the second stomp that they tried as soon as they got up from the first knockdown.
Change the immobilize to a knockdown or whatever, problem solved. It even looks like it could knock people down.
Yes that would be the quickest fix. Vapor form wouldn’t be so terrible if you could actually use it because you prevented the first stomp from finishing you.
All blink skills for all classes lost their ability to cross open space (probably so as not to trivialize jumping puzzles).
This really makes no sense. With my engineer’s rocket jump I can still cross open space, but not with a real teleport? Makes no sense.
Now outside the broken skills ( rtl-magnetic grasp-fire grab- lightning touch), there is absolutely nothing to complain about the ele, […]

What is the official stance of ANet on the Ele downed state? Especially that we are the only profession in the game that cannot interrupt a stomp at all?
This is seriously hindering ele in sPVP and tournament gameplay. Every other profession that goes down has a fighting chance to interrupt a stomp and get up again. A downed ele is simply a dead ele because he cannot prevent or interrupt getting stomped ASAP.
Please Arenanet, change something about our downed state, or even give us an official response if you are happy with the current downed state (god I hope not).
I feel this is the #1 Ele issue, everything else is just number tweaking and bug fixing.

It’s not nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be, we definitely don’t have it that bad.

Warrior: The hammer throw can be blocked/avoided through many means.
Every single ability in the game can be blocked/avoided so that argument is simply futile. Hammer throw interrupts stomping which is the one thing you NEED to be able to do when downed. Also, vengeance is awesome I don’t know you you can even compare it to vapor form.
Guardian/Necromancer: The knockback/fear can both be avoided/prevented, I’ve been running with a focus, so I usually save my Obsidian Flesh to make executes a lot easier, but once they use their skill, it’s over.
Again the useless “oh it can be avoided” argument.
Ranger: They don’t have an interrupt/disjoint at all.
They have a daze which interrupts stomping, even if just very briefly.
Engineer: Their knockback is on the same cooldown as Vapor Form, and has far less utility in the way of staying alive.
Engineers have probably the best downed state after mesmers in the game. You simply don’t seem to know what you’re talking about. Engineer downed 2 knocks down, and you can time it you you knock down the first stomp attempt with #2, then blast them back with #3 when they try to do a second stomp.

Um elementalist is the worst profession right now. Engineer is better in every single way than elementalist. Even the amount of combos engys can do is insane.
@SeraVerte: Lingering Elements makes the fury upon attunement switching last 5 seconds instead of 2.
@topic:
1. Fix downed state. It’s atrocious. 2 needs to interrupt stomps and 3 needs to be available sooner.
2. A little more base health maybe?
3. Most Air skills do laughable damage (dagger 1+2 lol)
4. Conjures should be instant and have no charges (lose the second weapon) seeing as they already have a timeout.
5. Focus really needs a mobility skill.
6. Most of our utility skills could use a cooldown reduction
I’d really love a reply from ArenaNet here. Ele downed state at the moment is atrocious, and the top reason I stopped playing my Ele in pvp. Every other profession has a fighting chance (some more, some less) when downed, every profession but Ele.
They either have knockbacks, stealths, teleports, fear, interrupt, etc. My Engineer even has a single target knockdown and an aoe knockback.
Ele downed 2 needs to knock down or back and interrupt stomps, and vapor form if it needs to stay needs to be available as soon as your downed.
Ele needs some serious buffs overall but I feel downed state is the worst thing about ele in pvp right now.
