It would just be a list of AoE spammers. And AoE spammers don’t deserve anymore reward than they already get.
This.
Yep, Cursed Shore is way too crowded, you’d be lucky to get any loot from the event unless you’re a warrior, ranger, and maybe engineer since I see the flamethrower spam all the time.
Don’t forget about fixing some of the free no skill loot classes. There’s an event for fixing a cannon that’s always active and frequently spawns 80+ mobs… all the time. It used to be fun until lol2shot warriors and hunter bots showed up.
Underwater combat is terrible in every game. It was a waste of development time that could have been better spent on other, better things.
I remember questing in Vashir in some other game and it was quite lonely. There was even an achieve for defeating a giant whale that no one bothered with (even the achieve admitted it drops no loot).
Lol welcome to the club!
….. don’t move to a large, full, or heavy server. everyone else is doing the same thing. it’s ruining those servers.
SoR is full enough and has already had plenty of bandwagon transfers, now we have wonderfully long WvW queues, sure glad they all joined up.
Obnoxious as it sounds, have you tried coercing other people to transfer TO your server? It honestly would be much better in the long run, for you and for all other servers.
Anet dropped the ball on transfers. They should only have been allowed onto LOW pop servers. Not transferring to a full server because everyone left yours, but transferring to a low pop server because yours is too full. All they’ve accomplished by wide-open transfers is making MORE full servers and MORE empty servers.
Really? I had an insta-queue earlier. I looked for groups in WvW but no one wanted to zerg keeps with me, maybe because it was during off hours but still.
"
Yes I seen the issue, whats funny is the loot system has back fired. All any one needs to do is just follow a bot hord and loot everything after hiting the mobs 1 time. Easy way to make gold and lvl."
You can’t just hit something once to tag it. Trust me on this one if that were the case then I’d get way more EXP and loot from events.

Spent some real money today for bag space (15 GOLD for a top end rune of holding where 100 gems = 40 SILVER or just buy extra bag space and use more cotton bags? You do the math) and to finally afford my gift of wood. Now I am finally free to actually sell things that need the wood instead of committing the resources to some gift, woohoo ^_^
Now… it’s time to sell and buy the unicorn statue blueprint! :D Am halfway there with the orichalcum but still need to get started on the dungeon. Though PvPing the 500 badges is the first priority.
Even at $1 per gold piece a precursor would be very expensive, yet in this game it’s like 40 SILVER per 100 gems, and that’s if you’re “lucky” enough to catch the exchange rate at a good time =(
I like map completion. The only thing I’ll asks is to keep cooking ingredients out of the rewards lists, getting asparagi really feels like a slap in the face compared to when we win orichalcum.
It’d be great if they could increase the FoV so we could see behind and all around ourselves better. It gets annoying going on autorun and panning the camera all around me (mostly to minimize sneak attacks from mobs).
On my server we actually do fight the ice elementals because the dragon fears us back there lol!
I have as much MF as I possibly can. Killed three dragons this weekend. I earned less money than the travel costs. I got one yellow. One! Three dragons and only one yellow from the chests. I get more yellows spamming my axe #1 skill at the Cursed Shore Penitent Path DEs. How sad is that?
Also, why is it that fighting dragons or participating in most Orr DEs has nearly 0% risk of death. I mean, you have to almost try to mess up to die in them, thanks to the zerg. Its more dangerous running to the events than it is participating in them.
The dragons have fear and AoE, while running you cannot dodge out of AoEs even if you want to. Not to mention the cheap DoT effect being near the dragon gives.
"
It seems that a lot of people not on the forums agree with the OP, at least on my server. It is possible to go into many zones and see people ignoring the ‘kill Champion X event.’ In Orr, I mostly see people camping the mass mob zerg events, while Champion events in outlying corners of the map are unattended."
Because usually champs such as the shark one shot even people with good toughness and vitality. Repair and waypoint costs may not be worth the karma. As a speargun thief I’d constantly reapply cripple whenever it almost runs out, but that can only help so much. We do the Grenth event, but that failed the last couple of times =(
What CPU do you have something sounds really wrong using a H100 not overclocking and having those temps. Also this really bothers me (temps spiked to past 90) what PC case do you have?
I’m not getting 90 with the water cooled, I was getting 90 with the v6 with the fan not working and that’s what I thought it was before. Now it’s 55 at the highest and I still get the alarm sound (it only stops if I close out of GW2). It only happens at the Claw of Jormag event or anytime there are a lot of players.
The case is an HAF 932 and I cleaned out all the dust the other day when I took off the v6’s backplate, replaced the top fan to put the radiator and CPU fans in its place, and I’ve even uploaded a picture of the error screen.

The items right now are all vendor trash anyway, the only stuff selling are things people are throwing into the mystic forge. It also closes the gap between rich and poor.
I won an exotic ^_^ Though I’m still in my level 70 exotic because it’s power and precision instead of power, condition damage, and magic find (gag) like what I forged.
Anyway, I was going to mention precisely that. Try avoiding selling shaman stuff or anything with healing power or pure defensive stats since those get bought up cheaply.
it seems like there is a divide in the leendaries, on one side is weapons a warrior can use, andthe other side is stuff you’d find in a toybox
there is NOTHING in the legendary list that would fit a necro, thief, or engineer
warriors get frostfang and the three greatswords
guardians get flmeseeker propecies
mesmers get bifrost, quip, and the minstrel
rangers get howler
elementalists get incinerator and meteorlogicus (and bifrost to a far lesser extent)where are the darker weapons?
where are the non rainbow shooting bows?
where are the guns that won’t make me embarrased to use (or at least, let me use it PROPERLY, sniper rifle != shooting from the hip)
Incinerator kind of fits thief (especially charr), but yeah =( While I love the unicorn bow I think there should be more variety. I was originally going for the dagger but… that bow ^_^
Oh, and predator fits engineer perfectly.
No, I had to transfer servers to get at a skillpoint that’s bugged on mine, which I went back to.
They also nerfed magic find too =(
“Haha that’s a shame! Don’t worry – you’ll have more than your share of blues and greens at level 80!”
I got some T6 mats from salvaging blues, greens I just sell to vendors.
On my thief and elementalist I find a lot of everything, and even found a couple of rare pinks ^_^
A random alarm noise would happen if I’m doing Claw of Jormag, and persists even if I log out to character creation.
My Nvidia drivers are up to date, have a GTX 670, and get upwards of 120 FPS and am using a Corsair H100 for cooling. Before I thought it was a heat problem but I replaced my old V6, because the fan stopped working (even when it worked temps would go up to 65 and with the fan not working temps spiked to past 90, even before then one should turn off the machine) and I don’t overclock. My highest CPU temp (Core “0”) was 55 celsius with the hottest cool core going to 47c today so I know it isn’t a heat issue.
Incinerator is even welding torchy in nature instead of being like a magical flame, too mundane =( They could have at least made it a green flame (or anything that matches the player’s dye) with a fancy hilt =)
They could make me do something like finish Battletoads without getting hit for all I care, if that guarantees me a precursor, then so be it, I gladly accept. Because technically, that’s not time consuming or grind/luck based, that’s all based on my actions and how well I play/react.
But yeah, this Korean RNG B.S. has to go.
In Wonderland Online all weapon crafting (called alchemy or compounding) was RNG. You even needed alchemy books to drastically increase the rate. Some things even required five ingredients to make, and to top that off some required a certain ingredient that in turn also needs five. Also, you would literally need to grind your alchemy level by crafting (thankfully non-RNG but only applies to vehicles, mats, and training food) small wood gears over and over (well, you don’t have to do that specifically it’s just the most efficient way that everyone does). This is because to gain a point towards leveling alchemy the combined product must be a higher level than the two combined ingredients, and you could make six small wood gears out of one wood.
With that said I really hated leveling alchemy, and there are three levels of it -_-
Someone once said, “You don’t have your legendary, good. There, I said it, it’s good you don’t because the game is only a little over a month old” and yeah, he’s right if you think about it. The journey to legendaries will make obtaining the legendary that much more satisfying. I’m already stocking up on wood (elder and ancient in Orr, the rest in appropriate Ascalon levels) and exploring whenever I can.
This has been known for about as long as we have been able to see dusk/dawn in the tp. The drop rate is most likely less than that of the mystic forge.
Good luck, you need kittenons of it
This.
No, it shouldn’t have fewer waypoints.
Anet is just helping the exploiters by making buying their wares more cost-effective than using the forge.
Initiative may as well be considered a CD since you need to wait for it to fill. Cloak and dagger and backstab also have positional requirements that are easy to defend against via back to wall exploit or whatever.
I don’t want legendary armor in the game if it’s as big of a nuisance and a community destroyer as legendary weapons are. Tier 3 cultural armor is bad enough, and I don’t trust modern ANet to implement it correctly.
They aren’t community destroying, price fixers and bad RNG rates are. Sure RNG rewards persistence, but you don’t even get a rare a day, never mind rares you need to make exotics, which in turn have a chance (operative word here, chance) to make a precursor.
I like the idea, so long as all the armor pieces are as tough to get as the weapon (minus the world exploration achievement, you only get two for completing them so something in its place).
Watch ones I haven’t seen before, and sometimes repeat the ones I’ve seen on other characters. I screenshot the views anyway.
Might be so people can get to dynamic group content, makes it easier and faster.
How was the inventory space situation in GW?
Sounds great, but if there’s an event near the waypoint said wapoint is usually contested.
I still see contested waypoints everywhere. I just hope they do something to help spread out the population or raise mobs’ HP so everyone has a chance to tag.
“The in-game spam can’t be very fruitful, cuz I’m betting all the cheaters who want to buy gold will turn first to Google.”
That’s very risky since you’ll not get gold but a hacked account instead in too many cases to make buying gold worth it. Gold may be overpriced in the item mall, but at least it’s safe.
You don’t see any Mesmers in Orr because Orr is nothing more than a who-can-tag-the-fastest funfest, and Mesmers, aside from a (now even more nerfed) Chaos Storm, or Phantasmal Berserker have no fast AoE skills available.
That’s exactly what I was getting at. Since warrior mechanics allow for the fastest tagging bots naturally use them. Funny how the chaos storm the risen uses isn’t nerfed.
8 level 80 rare shortbows: 0
4 level 80 rare daggers: 0
That’s kinda funny, I see nothing but elementalists everywhere i go, 3 in a party of 5 dungeon, 7 hitting the same dynamic event out of 20 people, lol. Earlier i think there were so many elementalist even all the nonelementalists had a fiery greatsword of their own to wield.
I remember those days. Now it seems like when I’m logged on my elementalist I only see one or two others, the rest warriors, rangers, and the occasional guardian. I never, ever see any engineers or Mesmers in Orr.
You also have to look at this from a design perspective. They have Greatswords AND Rifles! AND spiky, heavy armor!
If not only the most balanced and simplest to pick-up-and-play profession, the Warrior is also the “coolest”.
But generally the Warrior is always the most popular class in RPGs (usually the “main” character in jRPGs from Lunar to FF7) and it’s nothing out of the ordinary to see Warrior more than other professions.
True, and you’ll sometimes have a paladin (Final Fantasy IV) or thief (Final Fantasy VI and IX) replace them as the lead once in awhile, but the warrior as main character trope remains.
Everyone knows that big muscles and swords are cool, hello!
But seriously, when most of the bots at Cursed Shore (though they’re usually rangers in other places) are warriors Anet has to ask themselves why that would be and help make elementalists and others more farm friendly.
My plan is simply to run around the world starting at the Asura starting zone and making a big loop, salvaging and mining everything I can. I’ll keep whatever is relevant to the legendary and then sell what isn’t. From natural gameplay I already have over 300 linen, so there’s a start. If selling it isn’t worth it then I’ll just save it for my tailor to level his tailoring (I stopped at cotton because 12 slot bags seem big enough).
But… my first money will be spent on exotics (already have level 78 shoulders for the thief just from my elementalist getting 100% completion on Cursed Shore) since my pants and coat are only level 70 (yes, exotics). They’re about as good as 80 rares, but still, wearing level 80 exotics in a level 10 zone would be like being level 10 wearing those same exotics with properly scaled down stats. Level 10 armor has a little of one stat whereas level 80 armor has a lot of two stats (plus a secondary), so that getting scaled down would still be powerful =)
I’m also satisfied with my 20 power/20 vitality/ 20 precision/10 toughness traits (both thief and elementalist) build so I’m not going to pick up a grandmaster book.
“How boring would it be if it only took a month and a half to get to 80 and get a legendary? "
It took a month for me to get my flameward hippogryph (read: time spent doing things other than battlegrounds), since dailies can only be done by the day. I actually enjoyed it when I got it even though it felt too long since the perseverance was rewarded.
World completion and the skillpoint prerequisite are the easiest steps in the legendary equation =(
I know I said it but chef ^_^ I don’t mean the profession (it’s already one and can make dyes and omnomberry cakes and such) I mean as a fighting class where you could like throw pies in faces and such.
While visual effects are nice for the most part you have to admit that not being able to see where to put the AoE field as an ele is almost as annoying as people who use the scatter attack -_-
@Agemnon
I should not have to run around naked to be challenged in a MMO. I’d rather need every stat I have gained, and be punished for having magic find equipped. But as it stands you can run like 100% magic find and be good to go in all instances. I just want some challenge and not face roll everything and have something I can be happy about beating not just o look me and everyone else beat this.
Green gear should be the need stats whereas rares should be of a “required for dungeons but higher quality of life out in the world” tier. Exotics should be better quality of life all around but required for only the toughest of dungeons.
Besides, on my elementalist I still have plenty of challenge, especially solo or trying to compete with an army of rangers and warriors for loot drops.
Had to disable the hat for this set as it wouldn’t match (I still have the pirate hat equipped, but have it hidden as it wouldn’t match the outfit and I’m not really into masks).
Also, don’t let the coloring fool you, this particular character is in the Priory ^_^
Undergear yourself if you want challenge, problem solved.
The problem isn’t the sea, it’s the fact that the mobs are very dense in the sea and the map is basically one big maze in the west.
