would you play a Beta Drop RNG again?

My suggestion..
Chance = rng base number * items looted
Those who are obsessed enough will eventually get one unless the rng gods are truly sadistic.
Is the #/5 paths number calculated from a database query? It must be specified somewhere internally or there would be no way of knowing if the last dungeon run you incremented the value or not.
The more of this information is exposed through the API, the less work ArenaNET staff potentially has to do to on the in game interface.. And I think that’s a good thing
If you can’t pay more than $20 for an expansion, you’re not a customer worth keeping. How much did you pay for your PC? Anet doesnt’t get any of that.
I have no interest in playing to the lowest common denominator for the game I love, if you truly can’t afford more, it’s your ptoblem to solve, not mine.
Gaile spoke. Speculation complete. If you are about to complain that it costs money, consider how much you spent on your PC to play the game..

I don’t want to grind 24 hours for something that might last 8 hours.. But really.. As much as I want to be in the beta, I won’t die if I’m not (just grevous mental harm). This is as fair as they come,
Note: I was in the last beta.
I most definitely want to buy an official GW2 shirt so random people who play will know that I am a fellow Tyrian. T-shirts are always great for advertising…
I have a tiny guild that I want to always get influence for, but it can get in the way of me representing other guilds for events. Perhaps this is a common problem?
My suggestion is that when we earn influence, some goes to any guild we have created, and some goes to the guild we are representing.
Maybe equally split if the concern is too much influence given out, or full influence to both (or multiple if you’ve started more than one guild) if the extra amount isn’t an issue?
Thoughts?
I don’t understand. GW2 feels like the city festival events, except every day. So alive, everywhere!
Do you try something different each day?
Reasons to get it:
1. More gold than you know what to do with
2. Higher level fractals (infusions can be put it any ascended trinket)
3. Must have best everything!!
4. You have lots of alts – ascended are account bound!
I have 3 sets of ascended armor, btw.
Keep in mind that its value is very niche, you most definitely don’t need it for 99% of the content and traits and rotation practice will net much more benefit.
Same experience here.. Was so frustrated by ESC opening up the logout menu. Clicking “nothing” can be difficult sometimes but at least it’s consisten

I’m tired of this whole “pressing buttons to activate skills” thing. Can we just have auto buttonsmash please? Just, like, automate smashing 1,2,3,4,5 all the time when Im in range of an enemy.
You notice how skill 1 has autoattack on it, so you can pick and let it fire instead of having to do 111111, right?
We tried dynamic at launch and there was a huge freakout by people who complained they were missing out events becasue they only happened during a small window of time – once.
For me, this was the greatest disappointment, that ArenaNET listened instead of adding one time events often enough that no one experienced them all, so each personal experience was potentially unique, like real life.
Alas, we are where we are, and I get the impression OP hasn’t explored enough of the game to discover there are new things to do every day.

I agree that any opportunity to avoid spamming the aoe loot key repeatedly when you are in combat will reduce serve load and save your fingers.
What is the purpose of making it hard to pick up the loot? It sure isn’t an unbalancing function.. And for those who want “immersion,” stick with the original button.
OP, Did you also notice there are occasions where it is still necessary tonuse your interact button to get loot, like in chests?
I’m sorry I didn’t mean to target you with that. I suppose I’m so steeped in MMOs these days that it seems the knowledge is everywhere now that gold buying is improper. Otoh now a ton of apps ding you for real cash purchases left right and center, so it’s less clear that throwing cash at games is not how one really plays the game.
I did sound rather high-handed and high-horsed. It came out of my frustration with gold seller leeches, and perhaps out of some RL stuff I’m going through but the latter is no excuse at all. I apologize.
More of this. Deepest respect with your honest apology and introspection.
A D for strafing. Default bindings are senseless.

Thanks for putting in the time on your weekend! Especially a long weekend.
I want to throw in my feedback: I’ve got 6500+ hours in with reasonable but not huge portion of it in WvW. The skill lag that showed up recently has been consistent and predictable, and like it was quite a while back when it was acknowledged on the forums (and fixed!)
I don’t think this is restricted to WvW, though. I am finding that I get the same skill lag during spawns of whatever world boss happens to be a daily (and sometimes with the non-dailies too).
So, it may not be just in the WvW servers but something changed in the logic across the board. WvW is a nice place to test though, definitely
Please also note that I’m one of those people who tells the 5fps crew it’s time for a PC upgrade…
currently:
i7 4930 @ 4.25Ghz
2 x nVidia 980GTX (not overclocked)
2 x Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD Raid0
And the game runs great at 4k resolution.
Graphics settings posted in case that helps. Please note the average ping time is because I just loaded the game. Usually I float around 90-110 using Shaw Cable in Vancouver BC.

I’ve earned world completion on almost all of my characters to ensure the star is visible beside my name.. Well, and to get the gifts of exploration.
So I’ve made around 16 so far.. Equipped the ones I wanted and sold the ones I didn’t. No gold was purchased, but I am happy that the option is available, as well as farming mats to sell, as well as investing .. because it meant customers for those which I sold.
I don’t care how people get the skins they have, all I care about is how I earned it for myself.
I am excited for the new method (for new legendaries), and I am not concerned that they may “devalue” existing ones.
New cars come out each year that devalue last year’s model.. But that’s life! It doesn’t make my current car any worse than it was last year. It’s still the same car., just easier for people with less to purchase used.
Do the things you want and never look back.
I was able to play at 50-60fps with these settings, but recording at 30 produced the smoothest results. My source footage was 40MB/s and youtube took it’s slice of the quality pie after upload
Thanks for my dorito party mates:

MASTERY UI.
I was completely confused by how to use it, even though I thought I understood. Dark on dark, not sure when mastery points were all allocated or not…
The WvW masteries is already awesome, please look at using this for the new masteries.
My rule of thumb is if you have to explain how to use it, it’s not the best it can be
Still.. great even, thanks so much!!!
I guess anyone anyone not loyal enough to get in the beta is a clear sign that someone is sending a clear message that if your not in that list of loyal players your just not good enough. A symbol that anyone not in the beta should stop spending Monies in the BLT. If you didn’t meet this mystical requirment
Have you every googled this before?
There is no “make fixed” button for these problems and they can’t just put more people on the problem, because not every dev in the office knows the UI code..
So, chill out and take the time to a) play other games, they need your love too, b) upgrade your PC or c) watch woodenpotatoes videos and do some theorycrafting,
And if you are a programmer on here, giving their team trouble..shame on you. May a thousand customers call you on Friday at 4:59pm asking for out of scope changes.
Coherent is the framework for integrating web ui (example: bltc) into the game. It has been there since they switched from another framework while back…
I7 4,325ghz
Dual 980gtx
Running 4k resolution
Did not notice any frame drop, but may be because a drop from 70 to 60 isn’t noticeable enough? World bosses were good.
Have you increased your FOV and zoomed out on the camera? It’s significant increase in the number of elements your system is trying to render…
Not saying you should have to spend $1500 on video cards to play it, btw

This is why i love GS on my guardian. The ultimate in mobility.. I started guardian right after hitting 80 on my warrior and never looked back.
Sometimes I wonder if each skill’s mobility is related to which ANet staffer created the animation cycles.
The mobility is a huge part of what makes combat so special when compared to other MMO’s.
I’ve sent a legendary through the messaging system just fine, but the accounts have both been active since launch.
My new account from this past weekendcould accept anything but had a 3 day restriction from the guild bank and mail.
Sending money has a 15 day gate, but sending the item itself is no problem since the mail system doesn’t set values for the items in a message.

Second on the Yolomouse recommendation. It does the job beautifully. You can use CTRL-ALT – and = to decrease/increase the size as well. Or is it CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-… check the documentation
You can add your own cursors too, find the INI file in your appdata.. I can’t remember if it’s local or roaming, but you will find it easily enough.
Mouse centering and improvements to the “ESC” binding for untargeting would also be awesome, but I can’t recall ever seeing a dev response on any of these 3 items previously.
It’s a pain in the kitten , but you eventually get used to double tapping escape to de-target a mob.
One button press should be enough though, I’m not sure why it isn’t, at first i was thinking “in-case you accidentally hit escape” but who ever accidentally hits that button?
Note: 6500 hours of game play since pre launch…
What I don’t understand is why there is either:
A) an untarget bind
B) a “red menu” rebind to avoid this
- Second favourite is Stephen King’s The Stand, which I have read 4 or 5 times
^one of my fav books as well. I re-read every few years before New Years (and then inevitably get the ‘Baby can you dig your man’ lyrics stuck in my head for the month of January).
I don’t suppose Mario Puzo’s The Godfather is your top fav? (Had to take a shot in the dark instead of immediately going for Harry Potter )
Check the forum name. I’m betting the fave book is by someone name of Carroll.
I was trying to save this one for later in the week silly, to make it a suprise n all
Allisa here is Shark Girl (a mixed media study incorporating Wonderland themes) by Casey Riordan Millard. Thought you might enjoy
Hmmm.. What would you bite off if you had a shark for a head? :’D
Never read a Potter book or The Godfather. Do they have Wonderlands in them too?
(He’s a righteous man!)
Not after a legendary, just map completion. Re-read the title of this thread plz.
I assumed, as I see many others have, because it’s the only use for the Gifts that come from world completion.
So I suppose you’re in it for the star?
Still.. get over yourself and do the WvW maps. If it’s important you, the extra effort will make the completion achievement so much sweeter.
Yes, ESC to cancel skills makes sense. Next target is one of my most used keys (Q!) as well.. I don’t use ESC to target either, only to UNtarget.
But Tab?? It -may- select another enemy, but following that up with a GS #3 will shoot me off in some random direction depending on what monster I happened to use as my untarget host.
This is exactly the thing what i miss here so much.. Cant untarget enemy and cancel casting.. There is nothing more anoying when ESC menu popup in middle of fight
I’m not sure we can miss what we never had, but I do agree that it can be quite deadly.
You should definitely disable auto target.
I do have auto target disabled. Thanks for suggesting though, I went back and looked at my existing settings to ensure it hadn’t been turned back on
Currently, Double-Click to Attack and Stop Autoattacking on Target Change are the only two settings I have enabled.
Ground targeting is set to normal.
It’s nice to visit Rata Sum and Divinity’s Reach, and find them bustling with people. Lion’s Arch may not look so beautiful now, but the other city experiences have improved dramatically…
I have always used the ESC key de-target an enemy.
1) stop autoattacking
2) more importantly, so my Guardian GS #3 skill jumps forward instead of off at some random monster behind me
ESC needs to be pressed twice to do this.
I also (used to) use ESC to close all of my windows quickly when I was being attacked during an inventory check.
The Problem
When you hit the ESC key:
1) without something targeted, or
2) three times, or
3) one too many times when closing windows
The red “logout” menu comes up.. which means I have to exit that window to regain control of my character.
I know that I can stop targeting by
1) clicking on “nothing” (requires finding some nothing to click!)
2) turning away (well, at least that stops autoattacking for range weapons) from an enemy
My question is:
Is ESC intended to be used for untargetting?
And If so,
Is it possible to have a “ESC doesn’t open the logout menu” instead of “ESC doesn’t close windows” ?
I’m in.
- 44 years old, gamer for 34 of those
- 8 year old offspring (who earned Legendary Defender of Ascalon at age 4..)
- single parent and happy to be that way
- long time GW1 player before GW2
- played Radio Shack pong standalone before, but Space Assault was my first computer game
- TRS-80 color computer, that is.
- CEO of a software development company
- I like making videos but I usually end up just playing and never using the footage
- live in Vancouver (the Canada one)
- AC/DC, Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette. I know more Minecraft versions of songs than their originals, and now my son is introducing me to dubstep (I know it’s a bit late).
- love pink and orange, but never together!
- I can read and compose music, played piano and guitar but not so much anymore
- I bet you can guess my favourite book, but perhaps surprisingly I’ve only read it a couple of times.
- Second favourite is Stephen King’s The Stand, which I have read 4 or 5 times
- I REALLY don’t like going to an event where I have to mingle, but I will stand on stage by myself in front of any number of people with ease.
- I put great effort into keeping my real life and game life separate, to the point that sometimes I think I have MPD
- Used to have cats, but I don’t anymore and I’m happier to not have hair to clean up all the time.
- I go nuts doing the same thing for too long.. which sounds strange considering how much I play GW2.. In this case, there are so many things to do, I can change (ie: doing daily fractals to WvW to dungeon runs, etc..) whenever I get bored of something.
- The only event I do consistently is Wild Wednesday Tequatl runs with Soren Ironclaw and Kenage Achalarus. (11pm PST run, usually guild spawn one right before that with GSCH/SORC)
- The Hot Republic [THR] is my guild, and I spend absolutely no time trying build it into anything.
- In Guild Wars 1, I spent most of my time standing in pre-searing Ascalon, buying and selling.
oh ya..
- Blackgate on my main and Crystal Desert on this account.

T
I just sort of wish they have an “E Z Mode” for people like me.
They do.. Mesmers
I was more excited to hear about this than HoT… heck, I still am!
So happy.
9 World completions. Two more characters working on it.. WvW maps done on both.
No sympathy.
You don’t want to jump through the hoops, save your gold and buy the legendary outright off the trading post.
It’s not that much more expensive than crafting, especially considering the time it takes to do the world completions, karma, etc.
If you don’t want to do world completion, dungeons, or collect obsidian shards.. And with all the wait a see speculation, prices are low. Those who expect the precursor crafting process (or collection completion?) to be inexpensive may not have experienced ascended armor creation or looked at the price of items like the Pendant of Arah. If it does get cheaper, will will be quite a ways down the road.
Buy precursor while the price is low. This also acts as a motivator to do it.. equip immediately before your rational mind takes over.
Expect 2-3 months to acquire the ingredients.
Sell the first one, then buy all you need and make the second one that you really want.. heck, we get two gifts of exploration. Why? So you’re not completely broke at the end of the process.
I’ve only created 13 so far
Introduce all of your friends to the game.
1) rare mats will match your level. Under a certain level, there are no rare items.
2) no decrease on reward if you are over level. In fact, you can get level 80 rares in Queensdale, which you cannot get at level 20…
3) Opening chests at lower levels: the big ticket items, like exotics, are always equivalent to what you’d get if you opened at level 80. Rare items are in the same range of level as your character. This is the same with all rarities below rare, too. (Why opening chests with a level 53 character is done, to get the linen scraps and still get direct t6 mat drops)
4) I’ve received an ascended chest from Tequatl with a level FOUR character (yes, it’s possible – reviving and using turrets).
Players don’t expect an external research component to their gaming experience.
Including videos in the wiki pages, and having the wiki integrated within the UI ’s http client (trivial undertaking, as this is how the trading post works) , might be a good way to go.
At the same time.. yes, it’s attention span.. or more time spent reading rage threads on the forum instead of using that same time to learn how to do a task correctly.
1) Running speed buffs and penalties (in combat)
2) Trading post taxes… which is somewhat better now. When the game launched, there was no indicator of the taxation.
You can use home instance nodes, too… maybe not your own racial home, but each different region has a home instance that you can use.
There’s no accounting for taste.
Returned every Razer product i’ve purchased.. Such cheap build quality and thoughtless design… Not to mention login requirements to use the software.
LOVE my G600. Logitech has been around long enouh to know now to make a good mouse.
But it’s the Anomaly…. it’s not part of a set
6300 hours.
1 “Rage” drop from a mob centaur at the end of the Harathi chain… and no, not from a boss chest… a mob!
That was about a year and a half ago now.
I’m colour confused, and my best friend who is a Guild Wars 1/2 player (and not forum user) is colour blind.
In my own case, I find myself horribly disadvantaged to play the red side, because I have a heck of a time figuring out which red is enemy red and which red is ally red. Why not Blue and Yellow?
