Thick Skin, Reviver’s Might, Versatile Power.
Could’ve changed these to something else instead of zerk stance.
You know whats actually supposed to be Grand Master? Last Stand.
I’ll be honest with you, the only balanced heal that Warrior has is “Healing Surge” (Could say Mending is balanced but to me its UP). My main reasoning? Because its extremely punishable and should be where heals should be balanced around at least for Warrior.
Healing Signet = 12k HP every 30 seconds. Can’t be interrupted. Not that punishable.
Healing Surge = Average around 8k HP every 30 seconds, 10k Max if you’re always using it at full adrenaline. Punishable.
Anyways:
Make Healing Signet life steal (10% of the ACTUAL damage dealt, half in PvE. If not strong enough, then increase the life stolen) instead of passive health per second.
If this were to happen then bye bye brainless play-style. Also Warrior would still be in a good place.
How to counter life steal or active sustain in most games:
1.) Attack damage reduction (A.K.A Weakness)
2.) CC
3.) Burst
4.) Keeping track of stun breaks
5.) Boon stripping
6.) Armor
And if that’s not enough? Nerf Warrior stun breaks on stances because having too many defensive cool downs isn’t fun to deal with like the triple cantrips Ele (Think about it if league of legends allowed you to use Flash twice on characters like Udyr, Olaf, or Irelia). Same goes for ALL classes.
^
No? Axe has more multipliers. Eviscerate DEFINITELY hits harder if you count Dual Wielding, Axe Mastery, Desperate Power, and Berserker’s Power.
Depending on the enemy comp I would say both or just eviscerate is fine.

Looks like he made your Axe off-hand viable finally.
Anyways, sure people do complain about Warrior sustain, but a simple nerf to its stun breaks would be suffice so that focus fire via chain CC becomes less tedious.
A Trait Idea (Grandmaster)
Battle Frenzy
Heals per strike of adrenaline.
125 (0.045 Healing Power)Add a trait like this like the other classes have, and I will agree its OP. However since we don’t have such a trait that heals us significantly like the other classes do, please stop talking. We don’t even evades or protection.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Adrenal_Health
I guess its OP… Its not even a grandmaster, its a master-level minor trait.
Also, if you want more evades, use warhorn. It has perma-vigor and swiftness with traits, and can weaken enemies. Also, GS #3 is an evade as well. You also have invulnerability skills as well.
Comparing Warrior evades to other classes except Thief is futile, better yet bringing Warhorn to the discussion when talking about “burst” just makes your statement lose credibility.
What he means is that other classes can cast skills while stunned or using defensive mechanics. Looking at Mesmer when they can aggressively attack as they use endurance dodge AND have 12 seconds (Shatter Recharge trait, and depending in how good you are can include the Shatter Recharge Signet) of invulnerability not counting distortion. Same case for Ranger and Guardian having access to brainless mechanics such as these.
I don’t mind having Healing Signet cut in half or stances not stun breaking you out of focus fire personally, but you can’t deny that other classes have access to underhanded BS.
healing signet buff was what made warriors viable, without it you will see warriors as the free kills they once were. also, once rangers and necros get tuned down, you will see a lot more mesmers and eles that will be farming warriors all day again.
Wrong, its Berserker Stance. This skill would be fair if they got rid of all Warrior stun breaks on the stances so that people ACTUALLY play stances correctly to be effective. Same change needs to happen for all other classes too because there is too much power mitigation in this game.
Also as for heals, healing Surge is fine and is still strong. Problem with Signet is thakittens brainless where as Healing Surge requires plays to be effective.
No I want better aggressive factors, defensive mechanics are just too easy mode.
I’d rather have Cyclone Axe EAT an enemy’s evade frame OR give it a 50% damage increase on each hit (PvP only) to make up for the Axe auto-attack nerf while increasing its cool down to 12 seconds.
Chaplan, there are contradictions/incompetence in your balancing philosophies and I’ll give Warrior as an example.
1.) When you said you did not want Warrior to be broken in PvE, why did you buff their heals and not kept the numbers separate?
2.) More-so if you were going to nerf Warrior in PvE, why did the nerf for Axe come through in PvP when Axe is already lacking and needed help in PvP? I know you can spam Axe 1 in PvE, but you DID NOT have to nerf Axe 1 in PvP.
3.) When you said you did not want Warrior to be an unstoppable beast, why did you give them Berserker stance?
If you were going to buff Warrior, it could’ve been more creative like giving them 3 weapon swaps or an F2 that eats evade frames for one attack. It DID not need to be something that forgives bad play such as Berserker stance because its no different from distortion or rangers evade frames + effective HP.
Warrior should’ve been a “calculated rush down” character but then here you are making them a “brainless rush down” character that’s broken in both PvE and PvP. Why Chaplan? Just why?
What I also find dumb is people forcing others to play Warrior just to deal with Rangers. It is just pathetic. Use broken to deal with broken, not that it isn’t fair game but people should be able to play w/e they feel like.
They need to power creep all classes so things like these don’t happen.
At this point if they bring back the old RTL, it would be fair.
RTL wasn’t even the problem, it was the fact that having three stun breaks (much like triple stance + healing signet Warrior, only easy mode because of NOT LIMITING STUN BREAKS that should be used aggressively but can be used defensively which is just too forgiving) on top of heavy sustain making it hard to focus fire making them soak cool downs gimping the enemy team if they focus to no avail vs. the old triple cantrips.
You are immune to incoming conditions. Apparently there’s also a bug that makes you immune to dazes too and hopefully it gets fixed. But you have to use zerk stance AGGRESSIVELY to make the most out of it. Sure you can use it as a disengage but it won’t be as rewarding as trying to get your damage in as you use zerk stance.
Yes they do. It doesn’t change the fact that both can be utterly brainless due to having access to easy mode defensive mechanics such as triple stance or indefinite frames which is the problem.
I don’t understand how you can over think Berserker stance. Its an Endure Pain vs. conditions.
Also condition reduction DOES NOT reduce the condition duration stat. Condition reduction comes in AFTER calculating base condition duration of the condition plus the condition duration stat. Therefore incoming condition’s actual duration is calculated as immune or zero.
My team is shameless.. We run 2 spirit rangers, 1 necro, 1 engi, 1 Guard and win a constant basis at top 100 level team tournament gameplay.. We repeatedly tell people when they qq and cry after we beat them.. You are free to run 2 spirit rangers yourselves.. The problem is finding Pro spirit rangers that can consistently beat their counters, CC warriors, Gs/Mace shield warriors, Automated Response Engi’s.. When you are lucky enough to have 2 spirit rangers in your guild who are skilled enough to resurrect your whole team in a midfight without having their spirit interrupted due to positioning and map awareness, provide ridiculous sustain to the midfight, win every single 1vs1, and are smart enough to save their storm spirit to spike with the rest of your team when you call it.. Why not run 2 of them? We realize it’s total B.S. Not fair, and ridiculously overpowered…. But like i said before people are free to run 2 of them themselves.. Lots of teams have tried to copy our exact comp.. Like for example Gods Sacred’s team.. He copied our comp to the letter we still beat them 500-150.. It’s not just about having spirit rangers, but having above average rangers.. Their are many teams that counter my teams comp hard as well.. Genyens team and FML (Got Mights) team counter it pretty effectively
I honestly think you wouldn’t be worth anything at all if easy mode mechanics did not exist in this game.
0:00 – 0:08 Its much closer to Zack’s octaslash. To least at least.
No matter how you build rangers, they will always be a low skill floor low skill cap high reward class that’s easy to play. People who get attached to things like these CAN NOT do well on classes that do take skill.
Why? Simple answer. Protection on dodge = high effective HP, PLUS indefinite evade frames. Don’t even get me started on how they can attack while evading because ranger DPS is no joke either for the amount of survivability that they have. Try counting a rangers frames in a real match, its anti-fun and borderline nightmare mode to deal with.
Tried and tested, Frenzy is still at a 6 second duration. Can we please have this fixed? Thank you in advanced.
Obviously, no one agrees with making mending 100% scaling. But who in the right gdmn mind would say that physical training shouldn’t be in adept? Physical utilities are GOD UP already.
If anything physical training cool down reduction should’ve been baseline. I’ll take a baseline physical training over baseline fast hands ANY DAY because I miss using triple physical utilities even though baseline fast hands would be the most reasonable one out there.
^
Would be nice if people who dismiss plausible suggestions would just take a breather for once. Because seriously? Physical training on adept is OP? Jesus christ Olba, you must be the best Warrior in game right now (No really I’d like to see execution, getting sick of people who are all talk and no action) because he knows how to make off-hand Axe work in PvE and “Triple Physical” utilities work in PvP.
No really, it wouldn’t make Warrior OP if you lowered down physical training to adept. Prove me wrong.
If ANYTHING, it might make Warriors more diverse. Who knows? People like to try new things.
I’ll give you the closest probable phrase: “Within reason”
Nah, F1 skills are actually that good.
If anything just nerf Warrior stun breaks (Trust me, this game would be better if every class was limited to only one stun break) so that Healing Signet doesn’t have to get nerfed but won’t necessarily overshadow Healing Surge.
Just nerf brainless play (Such as rangers, indefinite/uncountable evade frames, defensive mechanics in general such as vigor and protection) just to indirectly improve high skill cap things such as counting frames to be honest. I would not mind if Warriors had ZERO stun breaks at this point because stances are supposed to be used aggressively anyways.
No one would be playing easy mode specs such as triple stance and Mace if it wasn’t three stun breaks with evade on GS. Only reason why that builds working is cause its forgiving due to how triple stance and defense tree = 4 stun breaks. Focus fire kinda doesn’t do much against things like these because BAD PLAY IS FORGIVEN in GW2.
He has a good point though on the third one.
YOU CAN NOT nerf AoE without nerfing something else such as extremely forgiving evade frames.
Nah. I want my fighting game meter
If I were to make an F2 for Warrior, it would be something like a consistent F2 such as:
On a 50 second cool down (Scales with burst mastery)
“For 5 seconds, gain a charge which allows you to ignore protection for two attacks.”
Charges are consumed if you are blinded or your attack misses. Makes it so that it isn’t brainless but rewards you for being precise and landing something in the first place.
*Can potentially make signet of might attractive, pushing for some sort of diversity on this one.
Basically a suggestion that rewards aggression or at least something that distinguishes Warriors from Guards.
Warriors are warriors, they should be able to maul people and be rewarded for being precise (As a trade-off for being extremely telegraphed) when they do hit you with something that should hit hard (I.E Triple chop last hit, Eviscerate, Kill Shot, Hammer skills, Mace auto last hit, etc). It might look like something like that won’t do much but I’d rather have better aggressive factors than asking for more brainless defensive mechanics for PvP.
(edited by Amir.1570)
Would be a for fun option and would be nice to have when messing around.
The most brainless class in PvE*
But is it the people who designed Warrior who made it brainless in PvE? More like the AI’s are just stupendously not intelligent.
Say they don’t rework condition amulets into something reasonable, then the probable easiest fix to make rangers less brainless would be if they nerfed serpent strike and stalker strike (off-hand dagger 4) evade frames by half of its original evade time frame.
Try counting a rangers frames in a real match, its just unforgiving. They should be just as easier to hit with something as any class if they’re going to get protection after dodging.
True damage via conditions is good contribution to “perfect imbalance” but here’s the thing:
“You shouldn’t be able to tank hard while able to pressure with conditions at the same time.”
and I can also reverse it and say
“You shouldn’t be able to pressure with conditions while being able to tank hard at the same time.”
And I guess the culprit would be the amulets in sPvP. Take away “some” of the survivability or condition damage from the amulets and convert it to something more redundant like precision.
Overpowered? No. Easy to play? Yeah. Effective against the majority of the people who has no clue on how to adapt? Yeah. Talking about sPvP, everyone knows Warriors are broken in WvW cause of the food buffs.
Much like S/D Thief except this one doesn’t have frames and is much more telegraphed.
(edited by Amir.1570)
If its so good and thakittens the “best” one out there, put videos vs. top/good players. ANY statement requires credibility and that’s pretty much a given.
This build is too frivolous just by looking at it.
Way too incompetent and heavily punishable. Mainly due to Axe autos being weak by itself, off-hand Axe getting destroyed by retal, and Hammer being extremely telegraphed.
Try again.

I find it funny that people are complaining about Skull Crack + HB with unsuspecting foe when that isn’t even the build that you would use if you were actually good with the class.
Its frustrating that being able to save the game is heavily dependent on ANET at this point. We need answers from ANET themselves. What are they planning to save this games future?
I’ll keep it brief. This game has great potential as an e-sport on a league of its own because “whether people don’t perceive it,” being good in GW2 Conquest I believe requires both a fighting game (preferrably something like UMVC3) mentality AND a MOBA mentality.
This game has AMAZING potential mind you. Its extremely fun being able to have full control of your character and analyze match ups much like in a fighting game while theory crafting team strategies and objectives much like in MOBAs. I know a lot of people actually want this game to succeed as an e-sport deep inside even though they hate the game akittens current state. At this rate however, GW2 PvP may die right after the PAX tournament if things keep going like this. It would be great if we have things like:
1.) A public test realm. It would be GREAT if a greater sample size could test patches before they come out rather than have a few with highly deemed opinions. Not saying that things like these will help get rid of anti-fun mechanics and such but at least every single bit such as implementing a public test realm would help.
2.) Infrastructure. NO ONE is playing to win and people are simply killing each other on the mainly populated portion of sPvP such as hot join. Maybe an incentive to actually play the game the way its meant to play is to completely get rid of hot joins? A lot of people can find getting zerged by 6 people anti-fun, little things like that add up to why GW2’s population is deteriorating instead of flourishing.
This community itself can probably even contribute more ideas, maybe even save this game. Now the only thing that’s missing is whether ANET’s PvP team would actually let the community help them or not. Part of being a successful game is a company that actually listens to its customers and my proof in this matter? Look at RIOT games.
Keep it clean.

I find it really sad that a “top player” from EU is saying Mace Warrior is hard to deal with. If people had the decency to do the following:
1.) Get out of the Warriors attack range during zerk stance. (e.g Flesh Wurm, Shadow Step)
2.) Spam frames (Even though evade frames themselves are broken akittens current state)
3.) Spam Blinds when zerk stance is down.
4.) Out-damage Mace + Hammer if you have stability. Seriously that build literally CANNOT DPS without stunning people.
We wouldn’t get statements such as “Nerf Mace Duration please” from deemed “top players.” Right now its the only balanced thing out of the “broken” things that the OP has mentioned because its so heavily telegraphed.
A class with thin evade frames and high effective health (Protection on dodge) is just too hard to deal with, borderline anti-fun, in a “duel.”
I would say just wait for a month to find a real match with rangers because right now ranger is just too forgiving and rewarding.
GS can’t DPS either if its disengaging or it sucks trading hits vs. stability if it has no way to land HB. Also food buffs do need to get cut in half in WvW.
Understand that GS is garbage without CC backing it up. Main reasoning is that GS auto attacks are bad, whirl wind attack is clunky, F1 is bad, and HB is kinda bad without CC. That’s why everyone is using Skull Crack + HB nowadays.
The only reason why this build is working right now is because of Berserker stance.
1.) Kite Berserker stance. Do EVERYTHING that you can to get away from the Warriors attack range when you see this coming.
2.) The moment you kite zerk stance, spam blinds and abuse evade frames.
3.) If you have stab, just trade hits. GS CAN NOT trade hits due to having a bad auto attack.
Skull Crack + HB is the definition of a pub-stomper build. It does not compare to non-GS builds when you’re actually good with the Warrior class.
Considering Arms is condition focused anyways, yeah that would also make too much sense.
This trait would probably have to be in 25 points in discipline so that a variety of builds can make use of it. Personally I would be happy if Sun Spirit’s bugged blind didn’t go through Berserker Stance.
Nice suggestion that promotes aggression nonetheless.
Understand that if you’re good then you will get to that rating that you deserve so long as you have a 51% win ratio. But a rank requirement is necessary, there should be no argument on this part so that Solo Que can potentially become less frustrating if they implement something like this RIGHT AFTER they bring infrastructure on what it takes to win games.
They might have to get rid of hot-joins and make custom arenas free before they can make Solo Que a little less frustrating though.
I would say you should be at least rank 25-30 before you can join Solo Arena.. I mean that’s being lenient considering LoL requires you to be level 30 before you can do Solo Arena.
l2p, stunbreak, teleport, evade, blind, block, chill, cripple, fear, stability, so many counterplay to that mace build. just outplay the opponent and dont go into a fight thinking you will just faceroll that warrior. your fault. i have no problems at all to fight such warriors with my thief, warrior, mesmer or guardian.
please share what class has stunbreak, teleport, evade, blind, block, chill, cripple, fear, stability. I’d really like to know this god tier class.
Talking about what happens in a coordinated team fight for the most part.
^I just don’t like how this one guy talks as if Whirling Axe is something to be amazed about. Yes you are able to play what ever you want in PvE, still be successful and enjoy it. I definitely agree with that.
Flurry bug has been fixed. And obviously for you, you might as well take furious (30 points in arms) and drop off-hand Axe because its just counter productive.
Don’t get me wrong, everything works well in PvE. But to say Whirling Axe is something to be amazed about is just wrong and you should feel wrong.
If you’re going to use Sword MH then you might as well go Carrion build in PvE with dual Swords + Long Bow 15/25/0/0/30 so you do both normal damage AND conditions. The burning duration from combustive shot + leap on fire field is enough that you don’t need to extend it via whirling axe and combustive shot. You can just have higher DPS via torment, bleed, burning and power damage if you’re gonna go Sword MH in PvE which doesn’t compare to Axe + Mace and Long Bow (30/0/0/10/30) anyways in speed run builds.
I don’t even know why I argue with people who refuse to do math (borderline can’t) just by looking at things and actually perceive legitimate imbalance..
I mean look at Axe 1 chain:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chop – 252 base damage (1/4 casting time)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Double_Chop – 538 base damage (1/2 casting time)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Triple_Chop – 838 base damage (1 and 1/2 casting time)
1626 total damage within an approximate 2 and 3/4 to 3 second casting time for the full chain including the delay near the end.
Compared to Whirling Axe:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Whirling_Axe – 1005 base damage for its casting time.
3 and 1/2 second for approximately 60% less of the total Axe 1 chain.
It is inexcusable and incompetent to say Whirling Axe is fine compared to Axe auto attack.
Sword Axe might have a place in PvP, but in PvE? Do the math. There is no argument.
