I still remember We Heal as One + Nature Magic were buffed one time to copy boons entirely, and patched it within 24 hrs because it was dimmed too OP lolz….
Cuz we could stack as many quickness as swiftness, its was completly broken.
1. It only works on yourself.
2. It’s still awful in PVP because the way of how it works is stupid because you need to burn everything on cd.
3. Grenade bug did like 25k damage when land and it took Anet 2 months or more to deal with it.
4. Revenant and Chrono can 1 v 3 on node and it took Anet 2~3 months to deal with it.
5. Tempest can give a whole party 30+ second of protection per Earth overload and it took Anet 2~3 months to deal with it.
My 3 big disappointments from the weekend.
- The map was single layer, flat and uninspiring. Nothing like the bold, imaginative HoT maps(VB and TD). Back to the boring maps
- Mounts are not needed. The mount itself was good, but the fact that It took me roughly 10ish min to run around, literally the whole map was extremely unsatisfying and disappointing. I myself will run on foot and only use mounts for their special action.
- Exploration was non-existent. You were talking about exploration in the preview, but in the part of this map, there is Nothing! hidden and waiting to be found, apart from some chatter if you slow to listen I guess. Maybe this was the most disappointing of them all…Everything else was top notch. Great environment as usual, top animations and feel of the place… if only it was interesting as a whole :/
Back in HoT beta there’s no collectable or secrets to be found too.
The map is even smaller in HoT beta.
It’s beta dude… Why do people think beta = full game.
Good:
- Mount movement and animations are smooth.
- Wonderfull scenery, usually don’t like deserts but this one is very nice so far.
- Bounty hunts is a cool way to bring players to same locations and easier way to find bosses on the map.
- Music is still awesome.Bad:
- Would like the ability for the mount to sidestep, rather very slow than not.
- As some said before, there are some slopes and ramps that makes your raptor stuck.
- I have always been against pocket mounts, I do not like that you just magicly summon a mount from thin air. I rather have it fade in from a small distance and run up to you as you mount it. Maby a little longer mount time but still I rather have that.
- Some enemies have pretty mutch health and isn’t realy that hard… so it is just a bore to fight them… For example Hydras and their decapitated heads. They made it a little tricky when they butted in while fighting the Sand Shark Bounty … (Looked forward to fight Hydras in this game as I hated them in GW1 :P)
Longer mount time is a nonononono.
If we gonna sacrifice convenience over realism, may as well ignore realism entirely.
It’s reasonable to assume the one video shows her using the dagger on either a zerk amulet or some other power build based on the damage of worldly impact.
If that is the case, then I doubt the dagger will outpace sword in a power build even with near perma quickness from the trait and dagger 3.
I guess we’ll find out in a week here though.
It’s Pretty Safe to Assume she uses a 4-Stat Power Amulet + a Power Mainstat rune. She hovers over Crippling Talon for a second and it shows 594dmg and that’s pretty much the setup you get that dmg with (=
And that allows calculating the damage coefficients, giving
dagger #1.1: 0.4
dagger #1.2: 0.4
dagger #1.3: 0.4
dagger #1.4: 0.5
dagger #2: 1.0
dagger #3: 0.6which can be compared to
sword #1.1: 0.7
sword #1.2: 0.7
sword #1.3: 0.8
sword #2.1: 0.8
sword #2.2: 1.1
sword #3: 0.8You’d need activation times as well to compare DPS though.
Well, the cast times on Dagger 1-4 is the same as Sword 1-3.
So it’s 1.7 vs 2.2 then.
Not as bad as I thought since dagger 2 and 3 is dps improvement compare to sword 2 and 3 which is a dps lost.
This is what curious me the most actually.
Are we able to maintain Beast mode without any type of energy source any time we want?
For example, I can merge with Tiger, always have permanent fury active and bonus stat.
Or I can merge with birds to have free access to swiftness without any investment during roaming.
Or we have resources required for Beast mode and Beast mode will end after the currency runs dry?
One of my biggest annoyance as roaming ranger in WvW is need to wait for my pet to run close to me to get any form of buff from them, which kills the dynamic required for bursting down target.
Any idea about this?
Mount is great, but there are a few issues that need to be addressed:
1. They stuck in any type of slope where people can just walk over it and requires jumping.
2. We should be able to open gliders at air during mount so it won’t lock down our option when we accidentally fall down from a cliff.
3. Interacting with npcs and certain items shouldn’t dismount all the time. It gets annoying very quickly that anything dismounts you.
The open-world is very visually impressive but it lacks depths like back in HoT maps and LS maps.
Also don’t completely eliminate the emphasis of gliders just because of the introduction of mounts. Add in some updrifts and leyline energy for people who own HoT to enjoy gliding too!
For a WvW healbot ele, I just don’t see that Weaver is going to improve upon that role, as most Weaver traits and skills are more offensive as well as self-defense/self-healing, and the heals that it does bring to the table are more directional rather than field based, which makes it harder to heal the zerg. Sounds like a great specialization for making ele more independent for WvW roaming, PvP or PvE, though.
It looks like a very strong pvp spec for people that can utilize all skills on a weapon.
The better the player the stronger it gets. It has next to infinite skill ceiling in theory and a very high skill floor.
You probably don’t need to even use Sword to pick Weaver because of the interesting mechanic it provides on default.
If Swoop is OP then why isn’t GS OP?
because it takes up an entire weapon slot. this is just an ability you can have on top of a full loadout. you can build a bunker Soulbeast with Swoop to disengage if you want, for example.
Until Anet nerf it to the ground like they did to Druid back when HoT launch lolz..
what the hell are you talking about? you realize druid remains in the pvp A tier as we speak? the minstrel druid is in the B tier as support in wvw. druid has been one of the strongest picks in pvp for two years now, and all the adjustments it received were necessary due to how broken it was.
I’m not quite as optimistic as Mistsim here, but the guy has been playing Ranger and posting in these very forums for at least four years; I find it funny that he’s being accused of being new to the class because he sees merit in the elite spec.
Soulbeast will have its place, I’m sure.
appreciate this. I don’t necessarily enjoy saying that I’ve put out multiple well received guides and clips under my main Ikiro, or played at the top mmr for years, and did gvg with some of the top guilds in the game (not on the ranger). it’s all good though, maybe I’ve gotten bad. I just feel the rangers forums are especially dominated by a handful of really negative, doomsaying, out of touch players with questionable experience in pvp… I don’t have to point fingers here. and I appreciate the pessimist as well, as long as you’re reasoning your thoughts, and are backed up with experience like Jcbroe and a few others here.
in the end, it doesnt matter. the forums are here for everyone to express their concerns or praises, just dont be rude while doing so.
so I’m not trying to white-knight anything, I’m just optimistic and excited by the possible builds (and I’ve been posting a lot because I’m stressed about exams atm). I have also made it clear that I have almost complete faith in Irenio because I’ve enjoyed his consistent work since the druid was announced. and I see Soulbeast delivering on many levels.
Did you notice at launch our Druid was nerfed so hard that it changed to Adrenaline type of resources for Astral Force because it was too OP back in Beta?
Ofc they changed it back later, but we suffered for awhile at launch cuz Anet didn’t has time to test it properly back in Beta cuz it was too close to the expansion date.
I played HoT day 1 so I know what I’m talking about.
Ofc they “fixed it” abit later, while gutting Lingering Light to be useless in PVP in the process.
My point is Beta Druid is like 10 times stronger than the current one no matter how you say it, so all these new Specialization would be gutted hard sooner or later.
This is my point. Anything that looks too good on ranger will be gutted for sure.
I still remember We Heal as One + Nature Magic were buffed one time to copy boons entirely, and patched it within 24 hrs because it was dimmed too OP lolz….
There were bug about Engineer’s Grenade to do too much damage during a time, there were issues about Revenant and Chrono having too much invulnerable frame at cap point, there were issue about Tempest giving too much heal and protection, and it took Anet 1~2 months to fix it. It took Anet 1 day to gutted down Ranger.
(edited by Aomine.5012)
14 straight seconds of unblockable attacks lol.
I’m sorry but this spec is absolutely insane.
Until Anet nerf it to the ground like they did to Druid back when HoT launch lolz..
(In beta they were the last to be tested , too op, so they nerf it right at launch because there’s no time for testing cuz they test Druid way too late)
Tis the fate of ranger. It’s unavoidable.
Soulbeast cuz ranger is my main.
Outside of that Renegate (looks like ritualist ), Deadeye , Spellbreaker, Holosmith are all on my raider.
I’m happy for a potentially simplified elementalist. Also excited because I’m working on The Shining Blade…
Weaver looks like a specialization with infinite skill ceiling.
How’s it simpler?
(edited by Aomine.5012)
D/D seems illogical to me.
I see much more potential for D/A.
The quickness for dagger 3 is invaluable for axe 5.
A huge dps boost with less time rooted in one place!
Tbh the skill ceiling for Weaver would be infinitely higher than any other class post patch.
I can’t even imagine mastering it.
You got literally infinite possibility out of it, with additional interchangeable 3rd skill.
Not only that, you have to learn this on every weapons.
We onlty know place for Unstoppable union, Twice as vicious, Eternal bond, Oppressive superiority and Leader of the pack. All the rest is just guess some one made in reddit.
Go check GW2 wiki.
Every traits and skills are out now.No more guessing or speculation.
That was just updated from the information provided via the datamine, so there is no way of knowing if it is accurate either.
Usually dataminers are correct.
Also numbers are not the thing you need to know right now.
You need to know the mechanic and things they do, which won’t easily be changed at this point since it’s finished.
All Anet can do now is tweak some numbers before next week testing.
We onlty know place for Unstoppable union, Twice as vicious, Eternal bond, Oppressive superiority and Leader of the pack. All the rest is just guess some one made in reddit.

Just go watch the animation of Spellbraker, Renegate and so on and you’d know what I mean.
this is just a matter of personal preference. I feel the Spellbreaker’s animations are mostly trash (as in unappealing, not low quality), other than the elite which looks stunning. Renegade, same thing. SB skills look fun, but the utilities I hate so much. I actually feel SLB has some of the better animations. Dagger looks great, Wordly Leap and Call Lightning are quite impressive to me. aaaand I happen to like the aura.
my 2c: I feel people are being a bit too harsh, possibly due to past traumas of ranger abuse by old devs. I feel ya. I see nothing but potential and a large variety of effective builds. For once, most traits look competitive and choosing will be more difficult.
Spellbreaker specialize in removing all your boons (including quickness) and gain lots of quickness himself out of it.
not all your boons. he has to actually land his skills, and we can always reapply boons. in addition, look a Griffon Stance. how will a SB hit me if I’m chaining my invuln frames? sure, we’ll have to play around the elite, but it has a hefty CD. but the endurance regen bonus is not a boon.
Firebrand’s perma-quickness for the team will come at a price. this is more of a support e-spec, whereas the SLB is more of a duelist with a bit of support, as rangers tend to be.
I guess I’m just not seeing what you guys are seeing. I felt the same about the druid when everyone was crying about other better e-specs.
I only brought up 2 classes for convenient sake.
My point is just look at the trait-line.
Compare to every other new specialization, their traitline is revolving around their new mechanic, like Renegate and their summon, Hollosmith and their heat, Mirage and their mirage image, Weaver and their dual attunement/ dual strike, Deadeye and their kneel/deathly mark, Firebrand and their tome, all of them have like 6 traits to modify their unique mechanic.
Soulbeast traits on the other hand seems completely random.
What’s so good about giving 10% bonus damage when foes has like 18k hp or less?
Also if you look it closely, NONE of the traits actually give any benefit that modify our unique f3 skills from merging with pets!
While most of the other specialization’s traits give 2~3 effect, Soulbeast traits tend to do exactly one thing, and that one thing is not always good too.
Like 10% damage when target is below your hp , really? It’s worse than a adapt trait.
60 sec cd death protection and small heal and no additional effect?
Siphon minimal hp when apply poison and no bonus stat/ modifier or anything unlike every other new specialization?
No trait that modifies dagger’s behavior/ effectiveness ?
Other than getting boons when entering beastmode, there’s nothing that modify the beastmode behaviour itself, like Deadeye’s malice/ Holosmith’s Heat, Mirage’s illusions and such.
I hope you take your time reading through every other classes’ skills and traits.
They’re all on wiki now.
(edited by Aomine.5012)
I think the biggest problem of Soulbeast is, regardless of mechanic or potential usefulness, it’s the least visual impressive/ unique out of all the new specialization.
Doesn’t matter how good it could be, it looks least interesting out of all the specialization.
Just go watch the animation of Spellbraker, Renegate and so on and you’d know what I mean.
Our new dagger animation looks like some old animation coming from thief’s dagger and that’s all there is for us . All we get is some fugly green aura that I wish it gone.
Stance, while useful, would hardly look visually impressive at all too.
Permanent quickness as selling point is not anything special in the new specialization.
Firebrand got more GROUP QUICKNESS that seems to have 100% up time if you spec for 100% boon duration.
Spellbreaker specialize in removing all your boons (including quickness) and gain lots of quickness himself out of it.
(edited by Aomine.5012)
Play all of them if you can.
GW2 makes system so easy to max out in case you can try everything.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Whirlwind_Attack
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Burning_SpeedAre you sure its evade+damage you dislike, or is it actually just thief?
Unrelenteing Asssult got nerfed like 5 times because of the dodge damage mechenic.
Reckless Dodge damage is not comparable, plus warrior has less leisure to spam dodge like thief does.
Blurred Frenzy locks you in place with small radius so it doesn’t matter. (It doesn’t track people like Unrelanting Assault)
Burning Speed has quite abit of CD, so after people see the attack, they won’t be seeing it for some seconds so you can outplay it by just standing out of that small trial.
Thief is the only one that can spam dodge attack without cd concern.
How to fix it? Just add ICD on dodge attack.
(edited by Aomine.5012)
How? Explain how? Without dps meters community perception is all that would matter. There would be nothing but ele’s and buff kittenes. With DPS meters eles doing 8dps will get kicked because they are bad, while guardians doing 20k dps will be kept around, even tho their class isn’t meta at the current time. This does NOTHING but improve the game.
This does not improve the game, it improves your personal experience. Those are 2 very different things. You make it sound like a dps-meter is essential for raids, but it most certainly is not. Pay more attention to the screen instead of the overlay and you’ll find the less skilled players are easy to spot. This game never needed dps-meters and it certainly doesn’t need them now, definitely not one that shows other people’s dps and gear.
While you’re technically correct, I find dps meters to be tools of great value. Being able to spot problems in dps or buff coverage, or various other uptimes, can help optimize your play and your group. Just because a tool can be used for toxicity doesn’t mean it is only used for it. Nor does it mean they cause it. Toxicity originate in the players, not their tools. Take away one tool, they’ll find another. It’s just that simple.
but the tool does spur the toxicity more then without one, remove the tool and ppl need to experience a player more direct rather then relying on a tool to tell them what to do.
Remove the tool and people will kick you because you don’t have 25k+ AP
Those people who demand AP will do so before the group contents actually start, which waste you no time.
If a group kick you during the boss fight because they assume your role and expect the dps from it (like they assume you’re a dps spec but you emphasize abit on group buff and support), it’s much worse because it wastes your time already.
Anyone find out info for damage coefficient of Dagger?
I think I may replace sword with dagger purely for the better/ more convenient mobility if the damage is similar.
I’m mostly talking about power build btw.
I’d delete the link if I were you, posting links to datamined items is forbidden, I just had a post deleted an hour ago for it. Instead say it exists on Imgur etc.
No wonder many people shift their attention to Reddit now.
If you post here, you have to suffer from needless infraction, and severe limitation to what information you can get.
Apparently when in Reddit, Anet doesn’t care about datamining anymore.
Anet seems to be more friendly in Reddit too.
I have to disagree, but I don’t know the full capability of Soulbeast yet.
For Druid, I’d only use it in pvp / fractal and other serious group contents since the boom / dps they provide is invaluable.
However, in any open world contents, I really dislike using Druid at all. The dps and aoe is just not good enough for the most part, and the trait doesn’t help with your damage too much.
If you give up Nature Magic, you give up auto protection/ lots of weakness, which would actually make your life harder in open world.
If you give up Skirmishing, you lose quite abit of dps. (You literally lose around 16% crit rate and 250 ferocity)
Same can be said about BM, that you lose alot of dps if you don’t take the trait, especially if you use axe as your range option.
(Honestly I prefer Axe/WH + Sword/Axe for my roaming build. The tracking and utility is just overall way better, plus you can maintain constant freeze and weakness on targets)
Marksmanship is still vital for LB to be viable too.
Wilderness Survival is the key line for survival build, and new buff grant new tank play-style through protection regen.
Core ranger is not weak, it just not as good as Druid when it comes to group contents.
Idk how well Soulbeast will do through, it’d probably be best for wvw since pets are so useless in WvW zerg fight.
(edited by Aomine.5012)
The moment raids were implemented into the game, of course it was going to be inevitable. I use my DPS meter all the time to judge how well I’m doing against other people on a particular encounter.
It also shows buff uptimes so I can maybe suggest things to people to help them get better. Please do not think that DPS meters mean the end of GW2 is coming, it’s just that we need reliable metrics to be able to do raids properly and monitor what is going right/wrong in a particular raid group.
(PSA the people who kicked you are idiots, most of the people I know aren’t like that. Still, it helps to have an idea of what your DPS rotation should be if you’re going to play T4 fractals – which is what I’m going to assume you got kicked from if they kicked you for “low DPS”.).
It’d be funny if my Druid get kicked because of people like you to use dps meter and judge my dps base on it, despite me providing permanent protection/ dps buff/ heal/ regen/ fury / might to the whole party .
Not everyone use dps meter for good intention, like improving yourself.
They use it to look down on other purely base on their dps.
Actually Sand Lion is better than I thought.
The activation is alot faster than I thought, damage is decent, and it pulses blind 3 times.
I can see some good usage in PVP.
You done ….. it up.
I like 30$ pricetag (albeit being european i’ll have to shell out 30 euros, ouch). But that’s cool. Not overpriced like HoT was at launch. What’s not cool is going back on your policy “New xpac makes previous ones free”.
Now don’t get me wrong – just the fact you’re reading this means i’m not a free player. I personally purchased both core and HoT.
But the place you goofed bigtime is in gliding. Many players love gliding. Many love mounts (not me though).
But guess what? If you kept your old promise you could’ve made maps with gliding and mounts in’em. HoT crowd would be happy, mount lovers would be happy. But now cause of “Player can have PoF without HoT” policy you couldn’t do that and made your desert that much more..arid (pun intended).
Now you’re gonna end up with one crowd happy (yay! mounts!), but another displeased (where are my glider sections?!).Inconsistency can bite you in the ass for sure..
Do you notice Anet can actually make it work both ways?
There could be a mount that can reach high place, while there’s also ways to use gliding to get to that point as well.
This is only the beta, and we don’t know what other mounts function atm.
Ya, I thought it was clear they changed F2 abilities to beast abilities because they had the soulbeast in mind, same reason they removed the passive stats buffs. It’s a cute addition but not a game changer as most of the F2 traits got ICD on them anyway, so i cant spam F1 to F3 in beast mode for a triple effect.
They want to make Beastmaster weaker and make sure people drop it and use Soulbeast at launch.
Inb4 Soulbaests gives high bonus stat to pets too.
This is silly logic and not real.
Making pets stronger for a Soulbeast makes the beastmode redundant.
Come on mate enough with “the sky is falling because ANet hates Rangers and is out to get us and just force us to buy the xpac” stuff.
I never say ranger is not viable.
I’m just trying to find a valid reasoning for them to nerf BM trait, a trait which emphasize on pet more than anything, because the trait we’re getting in expansion is the one that’d get rid of it.

I never use a cond build as ranger and I’m doing fine in all contents :P
(Not including raid though since I’m not so interested in it)
What do you mean they’re slow?
They’re not only fast, but also ignore any in combat speed penalty.
It’s like Super-speed on you 100% of the time.
I really like the mount design.
They feel like you’re actually riding a horse in Zelda series.
It’s not just a re-skin of character to a mount, it feels different/ fluid, and you’re really riding on it . I like how the jump distance is directly reflected to how long you press the jump bottom.
Just do that racing game and you’d know what I mean.
The only issues about it are:
1. HP of mount is too low
2. The mount skill need to be more powerful to justify the use.
3. Stuck on small slope that people can walk over it.
(edited by Aomine.5012)
Pretty much the whole open-world in every maps can be considered casual friendly.
This is including HoT maps.
Only thing not casual in this game is pvp and raid.
I want to begin with saying that I enjoyed the new content but I do feel there is room for a few improvements to make it even more enjoyable.
The good:
- Mounts and their animations are very well done.
- The story instance felt already better than LS3 instances even though it was relatively short.
- Very easy to navigate on the map, found everything within minutes.
- Always active events which will make sure the map won’t feel ‘dead.’
- Amazing visuals all around, especially the water seems to be improved a lot.
- No technical issues or bugs, very smooth experience.Room for improvement:
- The bounty system seems solid although sometimes a bounty is pretty much over by the time you get there. A spawn window/timer where we can gather before the event would help I think.
- The raptor ends up stuck on a lot of slopes and small objects, feels very awkward when running long distances.
- There doesn’t seem to be a meta event which I personally dislike as I believe that the only reason that HoT maps are still this much played is due to their meta events.I want to address one concern separately. The size of the new map. In 1.5 hours I finished 67% of the map (the full demo I think) without extreme rushing. The first map doesn’t seem to be much bigger than the previous maps. I hope the other maps are larger than the current one.
This is only a beta mind you.
The map is likely not the whole map either.
Remember back in HoT beta, the thing you can do is even more lacking because it’s just a beta map.
There’s no Meta event during demo too back in HoT .
I also don’t find that locking ppl away from pets on their 2nd ranger is a smart thing to do. It’s just a waste of time.
Scholar is a pretty good option for LB Ranger TBH. It’s got the stats you want and a nice T6 buff for sniping / initiating.
Eagle / Ranger / (and for me Lyssa) are often used on rangers, but depending on your build you might well have 100% crit chance already meaning a precision rune will be wasted.
Rage is good. Possibly overkill on the fury duration since you’ll have perma fury anyway most likely, but the extra damage is nice.
Pack is also great / Ogre / Hoelbrak are good too.. really just look though the list https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rune
For you pet, maybe try spiders. They work well with LB builds as they are also ranged, give some immobilizes and tend to stay out of harms way.
Thx for the response.
I made some comparison between Scholar from Ogre and Rage
Scholar: 10% bonus damage when sniping, but honestly I find that in a zerg fight, staying at 90% could be proven difficult.
Ogre: 65 less ferocity but with a constant 4% damage boost.
Idk how viable the Rock Dog summoning is though.
Rage: 75 more ferocity, 175 less power, with 5% near constant damage.
How big is the lost of 175 power? If it’s more than 5% damage than probably not worth going for it?
Also I think you’re right, precision from rune may not be needed in my build since I have around 94% crit rate after fury buff and spotter.
The recent skill balance really makes Power LB Ranger has an edge in WvW roaming thanks to various buff such as:
1. Vicious Quarry giving extra 250 ferocity and 10% crit rate
2. Signet of Hunt able to PENETRATES all projectile reflection when activated.
3. Buff in various part of Wilderness Survival line, making Wilderness Knowledge Survival build viable again, with decent cleanse and on demand fury.
So I basically created my build already.
I choose Skirmishing/ Marksmanship / Wilderness Survival for my roaming build.
My weapon choice is LB and GS.
My skill bar is : Troll Unguent/ Signet of Hunt/ Lightning Reflex/ Quickening/ Entangle
I know what trait I prefer already so no need to recommend me that.
Now my real question is which rune is most suited for this build?
I’m currently using Scholar, but I don’t think that’s the most viable rune choice for wvw.
Can someone suggest me a better alternative if there’s any?
PS: I also have problem of pet dying too fast in EB even though I set them at passive already…
(edited by Aomine.5012)
How’s it useful in PVE when mobs that requires high dps have like 3 million HP?
It’s way worse than trait that gives 20% bonus damage when target is below 50%, which works on 3 million HP pve mobs.Well, it all depends on how it’s implemented. If it’s total HP…. it’s going to be bullcrap in PvE, but if it’s %based (which is more likely imo) it’ll be a really good trait overall.
This is Anet and ranger we’re talking about.
What else do you expect?
I expect it is exactly as it listed right now literally: You have to be literally higher hp than the target to get the bonus damage.
Tbh I find that Spellweaver is getting way much thought than Soul Beast, considering they actually get 2 daggers, all power base, and seems fun/ unique/ functional.
The whole spec seems interesting, with tradeoff, unique purpose, unique mechanic, with a complete package and synergy to work around.
When they explain the Soul Beast’s dagger, they talk as if the dagger offhand is something “new”, and talk as if crippling foe is a big deal by showing a short clip of them using that useless dagger 4 skill.
Tbh Soul Beast’s future is very worrying.
Odd, because Oppressive Superiority is exactly how the Light on Your Feet bonus should have worked instead of dodging. It activates on targets lower health than yours, which is exceedingly useful for PVE, unless the player just face tanks everything. Most likely works on a % threshold (or at least it better).
A good example are Scholar Runes are still used and that’s with player health remaining above 90%. In comparison, OS is far more lenient the lower a target’s health is and comes with extended condition duration, which Ranger lacks aside from LoyF – and that wastes endurance and lasts 4s.
CD reduction would be nice for Leader of the Pack.
One Wolf Pack reads as a global ICD since it specifies “This effect can occur once per interval.” instead of “This effect can occur only once per target.”
No idea for how traits affect differently with Soulbeast. This can be a non-concern since what information that is available to us is not enough to conclude anything.
Eternal Bond might be something to look at. I agree, for a GM it seems rather high. 60s would seem like a better number to test it out.
How’s it useful in PVE when mobs that requires high dps have like 3 million HP?
It’s way worse than trait that gives 20% bonus damage when target is below 50%, which works on 3 million HP pve mobs.
I kinda knew it all along.
This balance patch will make non healing gear heal significantly less while with healing gear, you still heal less or just about the same.
Win-win situation on Anet’s part of gutting ranger down once more.
Why they nerf pink moa which has no real impact in pvp and wvw, and only serve as a break-bar tool?
What’s wrong with having a good break bar pet? What is anet thinking?
Why do they expect pets to be useless?
Why’s electric wyvern ok to do cc, but not pink moa?
Basically is a global nerf that kill zerk Druid in addition to secretly nerfing healing Druid.
Nice one Anet.
I don’t like the adventures, but I got silver on most and gold on a few (some gold on the first try, some silver after a frustrating hour). Check the youtubes for guides on how to complete them.
The time gating part of making astralaria was far worse.
The Not So Secret jumping puzzle was worse than any adventure.
At least they didn’t tell you to jump “Chalice of Tears”.
That one is like 200 times worse than anything in GW2 in existence.
Because having a split is a major reason why we see imbalance.
sPvP is already balanced differently than WvW and PvE because the sheer amount of stats and stat diversity available are simply less than PvE and WvW. What doesn’t work in one format works wonderfully in another.
There doesn’t need to be a split. ANet would just be overwhelmed with things to adjust (as if they aren’t already), especially as more elite specs are released. They need to actually normalize the formats better. PvE balance seriously doesn’t matter so long as the content can be completed. All this complaining about the PvE meta doesn’t mean crap. You will find a group doing literally anything playing on literally anything. You might not be optimal, but if you beat the content on a sub-optimal build, it doesn’t actually matter. There will always be a mathematically-superior meta in PvE and it will never change until professions are nerfed or buffed, because encounters don’t change and can be broken down into literal formulas. So long as can group can complete the content, it shouldn’t matter. PvP areas, not so much, which is where the precedent of good design really matters.
The absolute best thing they could possibly do right now is put PvE stat-selection options/values (aside from food) into sPvP, remove Durability and Perplexity runes altogether, and then work on re-designing terribly-designed mechanics to function between formats.
PvE balance means a lot because if you faceroll everything without issues people will get bored really fast = playerbase drops a lot
If it’s too difficult then no one’s gonna do it either = playerbase drops a lot
If classes feel like kitten, class diversity is going to be lower and those who enjoyed their main class will drop off etc.You can’t normalize PvE, WvW and PvP. They’re completely different formats by default, the kitten do you want to normalize there? Splits are the one thing that actually makes the balance better by giving the devs more control. I’d rather get a pop up saying “some skills work differently in each game mode” when entering WvW/PvP for the first time. Not everything has to be split, but if certain effects are completely overpowered in one aspect of the game while being completely fine in the other two, why gut the skill in all three game modes instead of making it more balanced in the one where it’s causing problems? Obviously splits aren’t the to-go solution for everything and they definitely should not split everything just because they can, but saying that splits are the worst thing they could do and that the balance of certain gamemodes doesn’t matter is ignorant to say the least. Yes it’s going to be more work to handle split skills, but the people at the balance team are getting paid for this and I’m convinced they can handle it, choosing wisely when to split and when not to, seeing it as a strong tool they shouldn’t be afraid of to use (which seemingly they are, and this is a bad thing)
Well looks like most of you guys didn’t play GW1 where they had the splitting which was getting more and more annoying as new skills were added. They learned from there that the splitting is just a pain in the kitten as the game continues to have more abilitys. They would be crazy to do the same mistakes again.
It’s like: “oh kitten I burned my hand on the hot plate” and then two seconds later you touch it again….They still look for balance in PVE but it isn’t the end of the world if you have to change your stats and you are fine. As long as the encounters stay challenging (which most of them currently aren’t) the players stay (well most of them leave anyway after they done the raid and then come back when more content is ready)…
Whereas in other modes some skills are out of hand and just need fixing. Honestly this stupid boon dump in PVE/WvW was right to get nerved, SoI and revs boon duration buff were both way to strong. It shouldn’t be so easy to keep all buffs at 100% uptime. Also you guys claim PVE is where the most of the people are this is correct but PVE isn’t equal to raiding in GW2. Don’t tell me balance really maters in open world or dungeons/fractals. Anything of those things is possibel with pretty much every possible skill set/equipment there is.
Actually GW1 skill splitting is the best thing Anet ever do.
It makes Mesmer / Necro/ Ritualist not useless in PVE while keeping pvp balance.
Without the split, either Mesmer /Necro/ Ritualist will be OP in PVP or they’d be trash tier in PVE.
Seriously, most people agree skill splitting in GW1 is the best thing they ever do in GW1.
This is a good change. I’ve always been a proponent fit lowering base and increasing scaling to make specialization more important. There now will be distinct differences between healing druids and non-healing druids.
The difference is like 2 times or more already lol…
95% pvp and raid druid use healing power because without it, your heal is insufficient.
My gut tells me that they are nerfing healing even with investment, maybe condi clear on the druidic clarity trait. Six instead of thirteen. Reducing the damage of smokescale and bristleback considerably and nothing else as far as buffs for core ranger. This would be inline for what the community has been screaming for. That’s what I’m expecting to read on Tuesday. I’d be VERY surprised if they actually did anything to re work core ranger or pets.
The community largely thinks that rangers should be a worthless class and anet largely goes along with the community. Expecting any love at this point is only frustrating.
This. After the patch they will then ask for feedback and ignore whatever we have to say till some mouthbreather month later makes a new topic how OP druid is.
The funniest part is in fractal t4 (which I assume almost everyone will do 3 of them on a daily base), necro dominate way harder than Druid (3~4 necro makes even t4 a joke), and they get untouched lol..
3 nec with 120+ ticks of bleed and permanent aoe weakness and epidemic is fine but not Druid healing without healing gear lolz.. (I’d say zerk Druid is more of an emergency heal than dedicated healer)
necros gear for condi if they wanna do condi damage. Is this logic too complicated for you? No wonder why you don’t understand that if druids want to heal they have to equip healing power as primary attribute.
I feel like you don’t understand necro for why I even bring it up lolz.
Stat investment without any trade-off + op easy mode is too complicated for you to understand?
I feel like you don’t understand Zerk Druid either lolz..
Sure sure, we have to trade off like 80% of our damage for healing while other class don’t need any trade-off for doing their op damage and easy tank mode.
It’s not like Necro’s minions or himself will die quickly if they don’t invest in any toughness lol..
Logic of some of you guys:
If Druid want to heal decently, they need to invest in heavy healing and do next to no dps. (Reality is that heal already is not decent to begin with if no healing power)
If dps class want to dps safely without effort (which is the current necro), they do NOT need to invest in any defensive stat, all they need is pump in dps stats without any trade-off.
Sure, sure, ranger should always be trash-tier in community’s eyes, I get it, I get it.

A message from the Skills Team:
Greetings, Tyrians!
We are here today to talk about some of the build-thematic changes that will be coming with the next balance iteration. Depending on your chosen profession and your role in combat, these changes may require some stat-swapping on your gear. We feel that giving a bit of a “heads-up” is appropriate.
One of the most notable changes being made is to the healing values of the Druid as a primary healer. Base values for the Celestial Avatar heals will be reduced, while the healing power contribution will be enhanced significantly. The reasoning for these changes is that while we are excited about the Druid being an incredibly strong healer, we would also like to see that role as one of many choices in your attribute build.
Similarly, there will be changes in boon duration and boon application for a few professions. For the Revenant, we’ll be looking at reducing Naturalistic Resonance’s base boon duration. For Mesmer, we’re looking at making Signet of Inspiration’s boon sharing functionality a bit more controlled, giving each shared boon a fixed duration. To help compensate for these general reductions, we’ll be increasing both damage and a few different baseline boon durations.
As this update rolls out we will continue to monitor the effectiveness of these changes, along with the remainder of the balance updates, and will make additional adjustments and tweaks as necessary. Thanks very much for your time!
-The Skills TeamArenanet. Please Stop don’t nerf druid and don’t buff Revenant DMG WTF Revenant it king of DPS and stopped it already PLS "Oh my God’. Arenanet stop listening to the CRy QQ Forums and start listening to the people “Buff-Ideas” Those who doing it and know about it!!!….. PLEASE< I beg you just stop it ok and you already cause more than enough to damage alot things which aren’t suppose to be there and ask your Designer in-Charge class to started listening and thank you.
revenant king of dps? LOLOLOL not in pve . maybe you should be more specific. also druid deservers this nerf. if you dont spec toward healing you shouldnt be healing like mad. that goes for any class. spec for the thing you want.
Ahaha… Try Zerk Druid in pvp and see how ridiculous your accusation against Druid is.
The base healing has already been reduced once by around 33% back then , and it’s proven in pvp that Druid without healing power is worthless and will die very quickly and can’t hold himself.
If they nerf it any further, any variation of Druid other than healing power spec will be extinct. Healing Power Druid is already the king of raid and pvp, there’s no need for any further buff for healing power Druid.
PS: back in beta, Druid heal even higher, but is already drastically nerfed like 5 times before release, and nerf 10 more times after release.
It’s one of the most nerfed class (on par with Chrono bunker) in the whole game.

I spent 1000+G on my boonsharing mesmer yesterday and you are going to nerf it to the ground? Well done, anet. Mesmer is my only character and i may lose my job in the raid and WvW.
I don’t know how you managed to spent 1000+G on Mesmer gear. You say you do raiding, so you have easy and cheap access to ascended gear.
i have to farm for another 100 hours in the ember bay and bloodstone Fen for my berserker trinkets.
I don’t understand that either. There are many easy and cheap ways to access ascended berserker trinkets.
I literally get 1 piece of ascended armor every 3~4 days doing t4 fractal daily only,
If the game’s ideology is every man for himself, then I can see EXACTLY why they want to limit boon sharing and duration increases, regardless of the game element being played.
If they want to take away rolls and function that define a class, they should normalize all damage coefficient too so every classes do similar dps, not some classes doing twice the damage of others.
Then we can say that people should depend on himself.
Don’t bother rolling a cond ranger in raid or in any other contents. Just go necro.
Well obviously because Necromancers have Epidemic. If one skill (Epidemic) pushes all other condition builds outside of the meta then maybe it’s one more thing they need to look at.
Yeah, one of the strongest classes in the game atm in almost every game-mode (except pvp maybe) is left untouched at all while Anet keep destroying the gimmick classes that rely on gimmick in order to survive.
Typical Anet’s way of balance.
Beside, Zerk druid in raid is only for groups that want to push their limit with the least amount of people clearing raid, which is absolute minority. Why you want to make zerk/viper druid useless in every other game mode when in raid people already run dedicated healing gears to begin with and it’s perfectly viable?
I bet these nerfs are intended for wvw, but they’re too lazy to separate wvw skill balance from PVE.
(edited by Aomine.5012)
Why are people crying at druid nerf? Why are you allowed to heal for lots but are also able to ware either berserker or viper gear at the same time. I can’t think of any other class that can get away with having strong healing AND high dmg out put. Reminds me of gw1 a smiters boon.
Because Berzerker/Viper gear on Ranger is about as effective as Cleric/Shaman gear on any other class in the game.
Viper Ranger (non Druid) is at the moment the best condition dps build, similar in dps with condition engineer but the engineer rotation is a lot more complicated to pull off.
You have to consider range and enemies mobility..
Basically you need to be at point-blank range and enemy who’s big and not moving to do that much condition damage.
On the other hand, necro can just chill in the back and do whatever mechanic necessary while their jagged friends do 40+ ticks of bleed damage for them, while spreading them with epidemic lolz…
Don’t bother rolling a cond ranger in raid or in any other contents. Just go necro.
