My experience as a x2 Legendary player, who fought countless other Legenderies:

SS Rank:
Bunker Chrono, Condition Mallyx Shiro Revenant, Bunk Revenant
(Absolutely no weaknesses, while doing top damage or CC)

A Rank:
Tempest, Scrapper, Reaper, Druid, Power Revenant
(All 5 of them have some sort of weaknesses that can be exploited in team fight)

B Rank:
DH, Daredevil (Have multiple weaknesses, but still works if played very well)

C Rank:
Shatter Mesmer and Bunk Ele
(Niche use at best, need to play extremely well to work)

F Rank:
Warrior and all the base class
(Liability to the team)

Anet changed it because people were complaining about the game being too fast paced and people getting exploded from out of nowhere. Then they changed the bunker meta because matches never went anywhere. Good on them for taking a tenderizing hammer to the meta.

For now, the Mesmers and Revenants Meta(adding some reaper maybe) is the most fast-pace game-play I’ve ever seen because those 2 classes can explode any classes very easily (if played well) WHILE being top tier bunky.
Miss a cc combo and you’re absolutely dead.

Revenant also can deal with ANY bunker in +1 situation because they just have the tool to deal with any situation, like power damage for diamond skin, Boon removal for Druid and condition for mesmer.
Mesmer, while being the top bunk, they also are top team fighter (double gravity well or time warp are way too OP), and also top +1 rotater (thx to portal)

Welcome back to the zerker meta that anet allegedly wanted to change. There will no longer be skilled gameplay. Just land your combo first and be the winner.

Skill is dead, all hail the mighty faceroll.

Lmao .
You call Revenant instant condition spike + Gravity well meta skillful?
Just click some bottoms to kill a whole group of people

The funny part is this combo doesnt work on Revenant and Mesmer themselves because they have 10 times more evade/stunbreak/stability than any classes in the game.

:( Well gg then. I was gonna go for the backpack, but now won’t bother because I’m set back by what, 2-3 months? Might as well wait for the fractal one. Screw the leagues! W/e

Thx for the info.

You can still get it if you do the daily properly during the next seasons. It’s possible to get all dailies in a single season. It’s even possible to get all the Ascension achievements in a single season just not easy.

“Not easy” is an understatement.

It is next to impossible actually since you need to cross legendary 5 times, which if you check the leader-board, only FIVE people in the world did it.

Legendary division fight is beyond anything you can imagine in terms of tediousness because of the currently insanely broken imaba on certain professions
(Namely Mesmers and Revenants)

There’s some god tier people and noob tier people everywhere too.
The que time is also insane. My x3 legend friend took 15~ mins que time per match.
X5 legend que time would be like an hour maybe ?

Not really sure if a build that gets soft countered by just not allowing it to have 1 on 1 fights can ever be competitive, specially when the arguably best overall 1 on 1 skirmisher is a pet class that you don’t single out by default (no nerfs announced so far, although it might be hit hard by amulet changes).

Add to this the insane corruption capabilities necromancers seem to be getting plus a mercenary amulet which fits them like a glove, and we might easily be saying goodbye to power revenants for a while.

Guess someone play too few games to know that Mallyx/Shiro Revenant can 1v 1 any class, and can eat Druid easily with the OP Banish Enchantment.

The thing that kitten me up the most is all these Revenant changes are PVE RELATED.

The most OP stuff: Viper Mallyx/ Shiro Mace + Axe are absolutely untouched.
The truly op stuffs: Banish Enchantment and Riposting Shadow, and stability on dodge, doesn’t get nerfed, while every PVE options of Revenant in PVE is destroyed.

Hammer nerf, Sword AA nerf are all pve stuff. Why the heck Anet want to destroy PVE, where balance is not needed, while leaving the PVP God Spec alone?

R.I.P. Mesmer – 2016.

What is with ANet always doing a 50% nerf to things?
I could understand 66% on alacrity down to 50%, and then seeing how things played out there, and change accordingly.
But half of its effectiveness? Jesus christ.

On top of the res nerfs.

On top of buffing Necro’s boon corruption.

On top of nerfing buffing Ele.

On top of making Well of Precog useless across the board.

Do ANet devs even play this game?

You should play this game first.

I see so many forum heroes only do the talking and not playing :P
If you don’t believe in pro-league, try do some matches without abusing the OP specs and you can see the world better.

Btw res nerf is not just a Mesmer thing. Everyone got hit equally.
Druid and Revenant suffered from this too.
Necro buff is more devastating to Druid, Tempest, and Scrapper compare to Chrono, since all 3 of them are much more heavily reliant on boons to survive, so it’s not really a mesmer thing too.

Stop playing the victim here.

Again, I was trying to explore the reasons that appear make people reflexively ask for Mesmer ( and thief ) nerfs.

So many times, I have been called OP if I managed to win on Mesmer. In my experience, people have no problem in general losing against a warrior or a guardian say.. They attribute it to being out played. If they lose to a Mesmer, it’s because the class is clearly OP.

I watched Grouch himself do this on twitch. He lost to a Mesmer on thief. It wasn’t because he got outplayed.. it must have been that the Mesmer was OP. BTW the build that beat him was completely removed from the game in the very next patch.

Try hop off your Mesmer and face one instead and you’d probably know the reason.

Your personal attack is off topic. My point was and is that Mesmer bruises egos for two reasons; It has an image that isn’t hyper aggressive masculine.

Tell that to my bearded norn mesmer. But in all seriousness, I don’t understand this point that you keep trying to make. Is it because mesmer skills have a lot of purple/pink color to them or something? I consider mesmers hyper aggressive as a class, particularly on power shatter builds where the mesmer effectively wants to spawn clones as fast as possible for strong mind wracks, which usually leads to the mesmer using a lot of skills very quickly (also known as hyper aggressively).

Anyway, stop trying to make this about gender somehow. Keep that crap on tumblr.

I think the point attempting to be made, is that mage classes are seen as weak and feminine.
Which, if we’re speaking traditionally RPG wise, that’s pretty much true. White mages were almost always female. Mages were always weak physically.
Mages also always die easier.

It’s the last point that I think she’s hinting at.
If we go by old class statistics, it’s no real wonder that warrior & guardian were on the top of the player count.

They’re seen as the “tougher” & “easier to play” classes.

Where as mesmer was further down the line.

I don’t agree with her interpretation based on gender politics, but the underlining point that everyone expects mages to die when you sneeze on them still stands.

One of the big questions asked by a lot of guardian players in response to ChronoBunker, is how a light armor character can bunker better than them in heavy armor.

I feel like all these arguments are way off topic at this point.

It literally has NOTHING to do with it.

I don’t know about others, but I voice my opinion by my actual experience in high MMR fights, and base my point entirely on the experience I faces in the match.
No other stereotypical personal preference is involved.

So you think Mesmer is fine in its current state where it causes a meta that forces matches where neither team can even gain any points at all for up to several minutes? A class and build that causes teams to rage quit from tournaments with actual prizes? Or the fact that Well of Precog utterly breaks Stronghold mechanics?

Yeah no, Mesmer isn’t fine. There’s a bunch of things wrong with PvP at the moment and Mesmer has plunked its bottom down at the top of the list.

Top of the list? No. But yes, res mechanics were broken (not Chrono’s fault), Chrono bunker is a tough nut (but hardly the toughest), and the problems in PvP are many.

Top of the list is Bunker Tempest, hands down.

Hooray for everything getting getting nerfed!

Oh and Ithilwen, now is not the time to say you were finally getting success on Mesmer after 4 years, even if it is true. -_-u

Anyone fight legit through legendary should notice that how broken Revenant and Chrono is. People who still fail to see it either are the abuser themselves and try to play victim, or complete scrubs who barely pvp.

Could say the same about druid and scrapper as well.

Druid is horrible in team fight if the opponent is half decent (extremely vulnerable to stunlock/CC when elite is not up). They have limited stunbreak, unlike Revenant and Mesmer which has TONS of it.
Druid doesn’t has portal.
Druid cleanse is unreliable (2 sec delay on every supposedly cleanse skill)

Druid doesn’t even come close to Revenant and Mesmer atm, especially after bejillion nerfs already. (Mesmer got nerfed ONE time, Druid alrdy got nerfed 5 times post HoT launch). If they’re any closer to Mesmer, top team would have use 2 of them instead of 2 Mesmers already.

Stop lying and face the truth. Mesmer and Revenant are by far the strongest classes in this game atm by MILES.

Dear Anet, nerf rock, paper is fine.

^Your post.

Who has the most broken 1v1 build in entire game? Ability to bunker yet deal zerk damage and be braindead like old turret engis? Thats right, druid. You send druid far at beginning of the match and he pretyt much prevents the cap, send someone from mid to 2v1 and sure..but then mid is lost gg wp

Some experiences you should be knowing if you climbed up to legendary legit.

Druid can never 1 v 1 and kill a half decent bunker Mesmer.

Druid will die instantly in a +1 fight if the enemy is half decent, especially when chrono or scrapper is presented (Throw 2 gravity well or slick shoe on him while other guy dps him = dead Druid)

Druid is vulnerable to focus fire in team fight. (Reaper, DH and Druid should be your number 1 priority to call out because they DIE FAST to focus fire and chain cc)

Druid need WAY MORE SKILLS to perform well than Chrono because if they make a single mistake in a team fight, they die instantly. They don’t have invulnerable/ block and evade spam.

If you have 2 good bunker mesmer, rotation and mobility doesn’t matter that much anymore.

Far distraction at start is doable by all bunker classes. This is not a Druid thing. Revenant and Chrono do it way better than Druid because they can stall out 1 v 2 much longer if they’re good. Rev has a higher chance of kill the bunker 1 v 1 too, and they are STRONG AGAINST DRUID because of the broken Banish Enchantment with no CD and can spam 18~24 stacks of confusions in a blink while Druid use SotP.

But sure, if you’re fighting Ruby hero or lower newbies, Druid sure is strong against scrub players. My Druid can 1-shot many people in unrank because they’re literally just horrible.

A problem is Chrono offers such basic quality of life features that it pretty much “fixes” what is wrong with core Mesmer – for example Chronophantasma, Time Catches Up, Time Marches On, Illusionary Reversion…

I mean, look how tied we were to Duelling for DE before HoT. Now it’s Inspiration because it offers so much in terms of survival and Chrono because DE isn’t mandatory anymore.

What I don’t like is how trait lines are such All or Nothing choices – it forces builds into any given line depending on the state of the game.
Want passable condi cleanse? Must take Inspiration. Want to play conditions? Must take Illusions. What decent clone/phantasm generation? Must take Duelling and/or Chronomancer. Want to play dps? Must take Domination.

I just don’t agree with the “high level” theory behind what trait lines should be as it creates forced choices and restrictions, and mesmer is especially subject to this problem.

Just a question. How do you suggest they set up the trait system? Be able to take any trait and any utility and have it work with any weapon on any class with any amulet in any situation? What would be the point of builds? Each trait line, as you’ve stated, serves a purpose. You have options for everything. Take what you want but know that you’ll be lacking in certain areas, unless you want to have everything which would, again, make builds pointless.

Exactly this.

EVERY SINGLE PROFESSION IS WORKING LIKE THIS.
Mesmer is not the exception here.
Mesmer’s traitlines are better than most of the classes post June patch actually.
Stop lying about core Mesmer doesn’t work. It worked way back in June after the overtuned.

Among all the current bunkers, Druid can only be ranked 5th atm. (Top is Mes, 2nd is Mallyx/Shiro Rev, 3rd is Tempest. 4th is Scrapper , 5th is Druid)

People who still defend Mesmer at this point are either one of those Mesmer abusers himself, or those ruby hero casuals who never made pass ruby and haven’t seen how godly Mesmer is in high MMR games.

Rev is on the same table with Mallyx/ Shiro though.

Among all the current bunk class, despite all of them are good at 1 v 1, only Mesmer shine in outnumber fights because they use mechanic that is not damage mitigation/ heal, but damage immunity/avoidance, with permanent alacrity, slow, hard cc, lots and lots of block, invulnerable, excellent instant cleanse spam, permanent boons and so on. Don’t forget they’re the only class that’s hard to exploit them with rotation because of portal. 2 good bunk mesmers on the other team with good offensive Mallyx / Shiro Rev = free wins.

[Spoilers] Story quality way too low

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Aomine.5012

Aomine.5012

This story was barely presented to us as an intractable out line. It is an absolute shame with how much potential we missed out on. Like, this story needed at least five more chapters after rata novus. The pale tree should’ve recovered by now after her fight with the dragon, and we should’ve gone to her to seek advice. There should’ve been more conflict with the other races and the pale tree, like some attempt to put her on lock down until mordy dies. The kitten “but wait if we kill mordy then the sylvari might all die, even the good ones!” Precedent should’ve been set (instead of it having like three lines of notice in the last instance.) We should’ve had forged a desperate alliance with the nightmare court and soundless. All the while we should be going back to novus to learn more about dragons AND the lost city. NOT “o hey the dragon can be killed!”. “OK let’s go kill him then!” And then you kill him with some last minute solution from Mr mcguffin.

Also because this is a visual medium, why is mordy choosing such a lame an potato-like visage in his own mind fight? He should be an absolute horror when forcing his image upon us. I didn’t feel like I was fighting the elder dragon’s mind. I felt like I was fighting his childhood imaginary friend.

I was hoping to get a lot more lore about the dragons and the jungle and what it means to be sylvari. But unfortunately the story seems to be very much concluded with little room for expansion.

Exactly this..

I was expecting story quality that you mentioned above, since we spent so much time dealing with Scarlet, and know so much about her story background back then.
Then we fight this shallow Modremoth, with shallow Syvari conflicts that occur in ONE map.

The cliff hanger right after the LS2 is so good, and so excited, but turns out to be a COMPLETE WASTE OF POTENTIAL in the end.

It’s not a scam. It may be overpriced for what you get but it’s far from being a scam.

For those who read the patch notes and instant-buy it on the tradepost without further notice, it is.

Lmao, so you saw a commercial, and instantly buy it without reading the detail descriptions of the product, and when you find out it’s not what you thought it would be, do you suddenly call it a scam?

Commercial (= patch note) tend to be exaggeration. do you remember those car commercial which they can do some impossible things? Do you call them a scam when you purchase a car and find out that it can’t drive like that?

Contracts information are all that matters. Patch note is just patch note.

My balance (nerf) suggestions

in PvP

Posted by: Aomine.5012

Aomine.5012

I can hardly take you seriously because for some prof, all you do is nerf EVERYTHING, regardless of whether they’re really strong or not, instead of just focus on the truly op stuffs. You also fail to address how to compensate the nerf. All you do here is trashing a profession entirely to the degree that it becomes unusable.

For starter, Rev’s real problem is Banish Enchantment, Riposting Shadow, Impossible Odds, and traits that grant stability on dodge with no ICD.

Banish Enchantment problem can easily be solved with cd implantation which you already mentioned. (3 is too low btw)

Riposting Shadows problem can be solved by removing the endurance gain and increase the energy cost (35 or something)

Impossible odds can use a 5~10 sec CD too. (This skill will be less of an issue when quickness no longer affect reviving speed though)

Stability on dodge could use an ICD of 5 secs too.

Other skills really don’t need alot of nerf really. Sword and UA is not really such a big problem without the above tools I mentioned. Rev’s weapon skills are pretty balanced.

Btw, it’s cute that you totally miss the Tempest Truly OP skill: Earrth Overload.
An overload that has high stability when channel (meaning it’s unstoppable most of the time), grant a total of “30 seconds” -40% protections to FIVE targets, and also grant PROJECTILE REFLECTS on all of them, with a CD of “20 seconds”. To make it more ridiculous, the protection of this skill also uses pulse effect, so boon removal doesn’t help that much here.

So are you a Tempest main?

mallyx/dragon stance, i don’t like shiro it’s a bit selfish than dragon stance, and in glint you can stack up 18/25 might in short time. eles are not that challenge if you rotate well and stack up might before engage..relenting assault bring you at 18/25 stack of might when you are in glint for break through diamond skin and then overload them with conditions swiching to mallyx.
i generally play solo q..and this build it’s really nice for my play stile, generous sustain, great mobility, good pressure, high condi pressure..stack up 13 confusion for what them suicide it’s quite fun^^..

Shiro is so much better in most cases though.

Phase Retreat is one of the most OP skill in existent. Around 6 secs cd (30 energy takes 6 sec regen), gives you endurance worth of 1 dodge, breakstun, remove Chill/Cripple Immob. Combine this Stability on dodge, UA, Shield, you can basically be untouchable for a long time.

Tbh this skill is way over the board. Any equivalent skill on other class has around 40~60 secs of CD. The endurance regen part should be removed entirely.

Also don’t forget the infamous 100% succeed stomp -> dodge roll for stab + imposible odds. (Fortunately quickness is getting a nerf in next patch so Chrno and Rev can stop being an invincible reviving bots)

I agree. As Druid, I often lost to truly skilled Reaper(legendary division usually) if they start the fight with 70%+ LF. Druid’s strong point is CC and burst, and if you nullify both with high hp and stability and heavy condition, Druid will fall under your feet.

Been running a Chrono home point defender (not full bunker) using Inspiration, Illusions, Chrono. When druids come to contest they melt over time to constant torment/confusion application (cleansing is pointless as reapplication is consistent).

Power Lockdown Chrono can interrupt/lockdown a druid. But this is high skill level play, and you’ll rarely see one in the meta atm for obvious reasons.

Berserker Bunker Buster can do it thanks to the unexpected unblockables, that and a well timed headbutt stun into GS burst. Mess it up though and you’ll be waiting for another round XD

It’s more fun to +1 them anyway since at that point they’re sitting ducks.

If a Druid die to a Berserker or Mesmer, it’s 100% L2P issue on Druid’s part.

Druid vs Mes should be a stale fight that never ends.
Druid vs any type of Warrior is basically a free win if Druid doesn’t get jumped, or start when all his skills are on CD.

Queuing Outside of HotM

in PvP

Aomine.5012

There were a few reasons for keeping players in HotM when queued:

  • It forces new players to recognize they have completely different builds in PvP maps.
  • You won’t miss the match accept because of load screens and get dishonor.
  • We can make a better user experience (match accept and map voting) without having to worry about interrupting whatever a player might be doing elsewhere.

In order to allow queuing from outside HotM, we would need to change these things.

  • We would need tech to remove players temporarily from queue during load screens.
  • Create better tutorials or gating for new players so they don’t hop into PvP unprepared.
  • Revisit the way the match flow UI works.

Did you see the counter-arugment part already?

Your reasoning is extremely weak because your “concerns” had already been addressed.
It seems more like an excuse now tbh since you’re basically repeating his counter-arguments.

One more thing, it is possible to que up while doing hotjoin/custom area back then, then you guys disabled it. For what reason if I may ask? The technology was there all along, yet you removed it. The old system made people less bored, and more willing to do PVP.

I know you are going to argue that: “It’d prolong the Que time because people are not willing to leave their Hot Join match”.
Truth be told only new players will do that, and new player has the shortest Que time possible since they have low MMR, and most people are Low MMR. Even if they reject the que, it wouldn’t take long for other low MMR people to get new Que.
The high MMR veterans would never hesitate to ditch a Hotjoin Match for the Rank fight since they know their Que time would be longer.

Roll a Bunker Mes or Bunker Ele and Druid can never kill you.

Roll a Condition Viper Rev and you can easily kill a Druid.

Roll another Druid.

Simple as that.

Upcoming Changes for PvP League Season 2

This is all good and well, but what’s stopping a diamond tier group of friends from having one dude make an amber account? I’ll assume that you’re also changing the pip rewards then, making it so that it doesn’t matter if there’s a tier 1 amber with a clean MMR on the winning team.

Someone please clarify.

This is exactly the same thing that I was thinking while reading that paragraph.

If the pips loss/win depends on the higher div player of a team, than this change is good. If not, it will still not prevent some kind of abuse.

Match prediction is also based on the highest division player in the party.

I have a lot of friends that aren’t as high tier as I am. A lot of them have already shied away from playing with me due to my higher league and MMR. Now, I’m certain they will not be encouraged to play with me since they will be brought up to my league and MMR if we que together.

Join a real team with same rank and skill-level and become friend with them too.
Problem solved. People can always make new friends.

Play a DS Tempest until the condi builders manage to get it nerfed. Once that happens, condition builds can be free to rule PvP.

Sure, until people remember that they can put cleanses into their build. Current meta builds run very light on cleanses.

Remember when Shoutbow Warrior single-handedly removed condition builds from the meta? Fun fact: the anti-condition capabilities of the build were never reduced. If condition builds start to become overwhelming, they can easily come back. And that’s just one of the numerous builds out there that counters conditions without being totally immune.

Clearly someone hasn’t get into high division and fight a good condition viper rev yet.
They can put on like 6 conditions again and again on you in under 2 secs.

No-one is forgetting anything. Most of the meta classes have excellent cleanse, but most of them still can’t handle the amount of conditions from Reaper and Revenant. Even Druid can’t handle that condition. Need a Diamond Skin Tempest or condition transfer/boon strip Necro to do the job.

Upcoming Changes for PvP League Season 2

in PvP

Posted by: Aomine.5012

Aomine.5012

A message from the PvP team:

Five weeks ago, we launched the first season of our “PvP League system”, and since then we’ve been talking to many of you in-game and keeping our eyes glued to our forums, reddit, Twitch, and other social platforms in an effort to take in as much of your feedback as possible. Now that we’ve had time to fully digest your thoughts and contextualize it with the heaps of data that we’ve collected, we’d like to kick off the New Year by discussing the changes that will be coming to PvP Leagues for Season 2.

Matchmaking Changes

The matchmaking system in Season 1 uses a blend of both your current division placement in Leagues as well as your individual matchmaking rating (MMR). This means that you’ll generally get paired with and against players in your division that are of similar skill levels. Unfortunately, what this also means is that from day one you’re going to have difficult matches, and because of the way MMR works in Ranked play, you’ll have a very difficult time maintaining enough of a win-streak to progress through tiers and divisions. This is especially true as you climb into divisions such as Ruby where you can lose points as well as tiers. While this system helps ensure that your matches are always as competitive as possible, it does mean that it’s also more difficult to get to the division where you actually belong based on your skill – for example, as a top tier player, the difficulty of your matches in Amber would actually be fairly close to what you’d experience in Ruby and beyond. After analyzing your feedback, we’ve decided to shift toward having your division standing in PvP Leagues be even more reflective of your personal skill level than it currently is.

Beginning with Season 2, matchmaking for Ranked matches will use your placement in your current league division as your primary matchmaking consideration and pair you against players who are placed in the same point range as you, regardless of the skill level (MMR) of the other people in that point range. While we’ll be using divisions to match you against your immediate opponents, we’ll still use your MMR to place you on teams with similarly skilled players (from your division point range) to help ensure that you’re not forced to play with individuals that are of a much higher or lower skill than you. Ultimately, this means that the new matchmaking changes will make PvP Leagues much more reflective of your actual skill, and each division will be progressively more difficult to compete in.

Win Streaks

Since the new matchmaking changes may make matches more volatile at the very beginning of the season (since everyone will be starting in the same division), we’re also planning to introduce a “Win Streak System” into PvP Leagues that will help more skilled players climb through early league divisions and get them into the divisions that they belong. On your third consecutive win (and for every win afterward), you’ll automatically earn extra league points toward your division progress for as long as you can keep the streak going. But keep in mind that a loss while on a win streak will reset your win streak status back to zero, and you’ll need to start another win streak in order to begin gaining extra points again.

Point Confusion: Fixes & Clarifications

If you’re not familiar with the more detailed workings of our match prediction system, then we realize that there’s still some confusion as to why you earned or lost points at the end of a match (for example, “Why did I gain 1 pip for having won a close match, but lost no pips in a blowout?”). With Season 2, we’ll be displaying a postmatch breakdown for you at the end of each game, which will include items such as the win probability that our algorithm determined for your team and an explanation of why your points changed the way that they did.

Shopping for Ambers

In addition to the changes above, we’ll also be adjusting the way that parties are scored in our matchmaking algorithm based on the overall division spread of a team’s makeup. It is important to us that anyone can play with their friends regardless of league standing, but in doing so, we also want to ensure that teams aren’t gaining an unfair advantage in match difficulty based on their rosters. An example of this would be two friends: one is in Diamond and the other is in Amber. For Season 2, these two players will still be able to team up and play together, but they’ll be placed into Diamond level matches based on the highest division player in the party. This means that forming a party with players in a higher division than you will always bring you up to their level for matchmaking and prediction, rather than adjust to compensate for party members at lower divisions. This specific change will go into effect in our next scheduled release (prior to the end of season 1).

Wrapping Things Up (For Now)

There are a few other things coming that will impact the next season of PvP Leagues (namely our next balance update) that will be discussed separately – so keep an eye on our forums and on Guildwars2.com for updates.

We’d like to encourage all of you to please keep sharing your constructive thoughts with us so that we can continue to make PvP Leagues (and PvP in general) even better together. From all of us here on the PvP team, we wish you all a happy New Year and we’ll see you in the Mists!

I love the change for “Shopping for Amber”

This is exactly what I suggested before! Matchmaking should take on the highest division player rather than average them out to lower ones since there’re so many ways to abuse this system. (Especially wiht alt accounts.)

Current Class Tier

Tier 1:
Reaper

Druid
Celestial Revenant
Celestial Herald

Tier 2:
Power Revenant
Power Herald
Dragonhunter
Burn Guardian (if played PERFECTLY)

Tier 3:
Daredevil (note, this reflects its mobility not combat capability)

Tier 4:
Power Warrior
Condition Berserker (note, this reflects power not mobility)
Celestial Elementalist (staff or daggers)

Tier 5:
Base specializations, any build

Any question, I’m willing to answer.

I’m in Diamond now, and after experiencing consecutive win streaks with my team, I fully agree to your ranking. This is pretty much accurate for my expereince against countless pre-mades during this 50 matches.

SS Rank:
Bunker Chrono:
(They’re still UNTOUCHABLE in 1 v 1, and can still double~quadriple cast well of gravity for infinite lockdown in group fight). Portal makes them almost the best home/ far defender ever too.
Glaskin is one of the strongest Mesmer I’ve seen around, and there’s 0 chance anyone can kill him 1 v 1.

Viper Revenant:
One of the strongest 1 v 1 offensive pvp spec, with only 1 weakness against Corruption Necro, Diamond Skin bunker Tempest and nothing else. Can spam 6 conditions with high intensity in one combo under 2 secs, and quite durable too.

S Rank:

Celes/Fresh air Tempest:
Both of them have different purposes, but both of them are super strong in both 1 v 1 and teamfight. Celes diamond skin Tempest is also one of the few specs that directly counters Viper Rev.
Aside from cheap aura spam, I think over-load earth is completely broken, since it grants around 30 secs of protection (-40%) to 5 ppl in ONE CAST, and pulses stability in high intensity that you can never interrupt his channel.

Scrapper:
CC king, while being as durable as tempest. These guys are most deadly in teamfight though, and can bunker people for a long time. They can fight outnumbers fight for quite some long time while causing chaos in teamfight.

Druid:
A combine force of sustain and burst damage. Bristleback and Smoke-scale provides druid with excellent on demand burst while able to spam many many CC while able to heal well. However, they have glaring weakness revealed when their stability is gone, since unlike the other Meta classes, Druid doesn’t has perma protection, block/evade/ invulnerable like most of the Meta classes now. Just focus fire after their stability is gone and they should be dead . Also the CF regeneration nerf makes Druid abit tougher to play too. They also have terrible cleave too.

A Rank:

Dragonhunter:
Has good amount of aoe CCs, but lacks, pre-long sustain, and is not very powerful in 1 v 1 against the current Meta-specs. One of their worst abusive skill is LB5, which generates chain blocks EVEN WHEN YOU DODGED IT. Totally stupid design. Should fix it asap.

Condition Reaper:
This is one of those “kill him first or be killed” burst build around the current Meta. If you let Reaper cause hovac and not bothering him, your team-mate would be dead. They’re also super deadly when in high LF, able to take on many 1 v 1 and cause chaos in group fight. However like all Necro Specs, they’re vulnerable to focus fire in group-fight, which diminishes their value alot.

Power Herald:
I don’t think this one need any explanation. Good team fighter, but weak to many current Meta specs.

Rest of the tier I do not see too much in high ranked play, and tend not to perform as good as the above classes I mentioned. That’s why I’d rank them B or C.

XD, Scrapper and Druid is rarely about condition yknow

Bunker Mesmer, Power Rev are both not using condition too.

But I do agree Rev can spam too many different types of condition within a short period of time, with too high intensity. (Around 8 conditions in 2 secs in 1 combo)

Btw, I’m in Diamond now and DH is one of the least of the concern now since they’re vulnerable to focus fire, and tend to be about one-trick pony rather than being a strong and sustainable class.

Precursor Crafting Overpriced?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Aomine.5012

If you can’t afford the scenic route, don’t take it. Other routes are cheaper

why would one take it at all considering how much cheaper other routes are?

Some people prefer the less hectic path. This is like needing to earn gold fast enough to get the precursor before it goes up in price dramatically.

Some people prefer to see the sights and aren’t in a rush to reach their destination. This is like wanting to go on a journey to get the precursor.

Not everyone has more fun doing things the cheapest and most efficient way.

Not really. Some people just don’t actually do the research to know the real cost, or not bother to calculating them. They choose it without knowing it, and some of them complain because they felt like they’re being scammed into doing it until they can’t turn back anymore. (Step 2 anyone?)

They spent more effort without knowing it, and justify their effort by saying it’s a “journey” so they feel less bad about taking the tedious route. It’s a psychological phenomenon of human-being.

Lol I always have to laugh if some puberty guys come and want ‘dark themed, intimidating’ crap. If I see such a player online I don’t see a ‘dark warrior’ – no my inner eye sees a 16 year old adolescent who tries to be awesome.

People’s taste, preference, and perception of “dark” differs from each other.

Thinking other people tastes are immature while yours are the only legit one seems to me like a childish and arrogant thought.

10 gold that they just gonna sell em on the gemstore…like everything else since the 50 bucks expansion…

This.

If they were already in game then they’d be visible in the wardrobe (which iirc they aren’t). Which means if they get around to finishing the set, they’ll add it as a BL set instead of letting us get them as rewards through gameplay.

HoT feel so unrewarding because the new skins never dropped, and the amount of new skins are so minimal, and all pushed toward gemstore. This is very sad.

you shouldn’t try to compute dps in a bubble, if you’re going to assume buffs for a revenant then you should do the same for the ranger whether or not they can generate them themselves. assuming buffs means that you’re assuming group dps increases.

ele and berserker warrior most likely outdps ranger lb by a great deal. Being able to combine a strong condition plus strong direct damage makes them great at range. They also have the added bonus of doing a lot of their damage AoE.

ranger LB most likely outdamages revenant LB even with 2-3 targets because rangers do more direct damage at range. viper/sinister has increased the gap between condi and pure direct damage classes because it buffs all their dps not just part of it. Ranger and Revenant hammers suffer from not doing hybrid damage.

DH likely falls just behind these four as they can apply quite a bit of burning through traits and also do a good amount of direct damage. DH is probably the slowest attacker of the group using a ranged weapon though.

I’m assuming buffs for ranger’s LB too, because with SotP and bristleback, I can maintain 25 stacks of mights for quite some time, yet that dps still fall short of Rev’s hammer, especially against bosses with larger hit box.

My Glint Mallyx Rev often do 18k~20k x 2 damage on a target with a 2 sec CD.

My fully ascended zerk ranger never even come close. Bristleback is nice and all but it has a long cd too. Plus ranger trades ALOT of survivability for the dps while Rev keep
everything while doing top range dps.

Btw 7.5k dps in melee range is nothing. Cond Berserker is doing like 30k dps in raid group. Glint/Jiro Sword Rev is doing like 20k+ dps raid too. (With perma quickness from Chrono)

You really need to try more classes before you make the claim. I have all classes fully geared and FULLY ASCENDED on all of them.

I don’t think I do.
You missed the most important part. And that was a SELF PvP dummy dps test.
Without banners, 25 might or Food / nourishment.
Not a word about Raid DPS.
Raids are just one part of PvE. I can deal tripple damage on tequatl with Longbow. Does that count into this pointless “I’m the best” mindfest?

Moreover, seeing that you make a huge importance of cooldowns … Do you use DPS meter or do you assume the DPS by seeing the number?
With all due respect, 30K DPS in any kind of raid is a nonsense.
I’ve seen 34K ticks myself, but it has a long way to be called a damage per second.

With 30K DPS you could literally defeat Vale Guardian in 2 people and still manage the enrage in time. I’m sorry, but from here on I’ll call BS on your math.

You never counted cast times, after-cast or delay to match reality. Your DPS are assumptions. I’m sorry to disappoint.
You won’t convince me about DPS just because your ability has a 2 second cooldown.

VG has different mechanic and certain phases that he splits that you can’t dps him all the time. As far as raid meta go, which is 2 PS War 3 Berserkers, 1 Druid, 2 Chrono 1 Herald, 1 Tempest, you can see that only 5 classes in such composition does significant damage. Yet they sitll manage to kill it in around THREE MINUTES, despite VG does has time which he splits and you can’t damage him, so realistically they only spend around half of that time dpsing VG.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3xubpi/vc_vale_guardian_312_and_gorseval_322_speedkills/

How about you prove me wrong with your pewpew LB/LB ranger in VG record run then? If it’s as good as you claimed, I’d like to see an even faster run with your 5~6 rangers composition. You can even try to grab your LB/LB ranger in a proper group and see the dps difference. If people know LB/LB does more damage, they’d have take it in the first place.

As for Teq, lol, my Revenant can hit Teq 5 times consistently with each hammer 2. Teq has the largest hit-box ever. Ranger doesn’t even come close (Do note I used to always run my ranger in Teq, now I only run Revenant because I tested and find out significant dps differences)

Boon and buff-wise, both Revenant and Berserkers are giving out lots of boons/ mights/fury, as well as unique buff like banners. You actually make your argument weaker by bringing out boons as argument because Rev and Berserker are 2 main boon bot classes, just slightly below the OP Chrono.

One more thing, people do manage to beat VG within enrage timer with FIVE people only. Your 2-man argument is actually possible if VG doesn’t has so many additional mechanics. But since VG has other mechanics, 2 man is still not doable.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3xhs8k/king_5_man_vale_guardian_kill/

You can stay ignorant and pretend not to see, while other people run much more powerful builds.

My Glint Mallyx Rev often do 18k~20k x 2 damage on a target with a 2 sec CD.

In how much Damage Per Second that translates? Also, is it hammer?

Since you are obviously ahead of me in regard of profesions knowledge, how would you rank the ranged weapons from the different profs and builds? Is possible with aproximate DPS, Thanks.

Read my previous post.
I did give a small ranking between each classes and explain the situation requirement.

As to dps, it’d be lower than 36k dps ofc because hammer 2 still has a 2 secCD. But you’re still doing some damage when hammer 2 is not ready though. Also when swap to Glint, despite a dps lost, you can keep up more might/fury and spam a ground target high damage skill (facest) when your Mallyx is on CD.

Roughly speaking maybe you can expect a 22k range dps from hammer, providing you know the location of hitting foes twice with hammer 2.
