Redoing Jumping puzzles

You can do each puzzle with each character. Each puzzle resets on a 24 hour basis from when your character LAST did the puzzle*. NOT when the daily resets. That’s something people get confused about. I would suggest always checking the borderlands puzzle before doing the EB puzzle just in case so that you do not waste time to only find that it didn’t reset yet. But it works for all the jumping puzzles. Yes. And if you were to server transfer, you can do all the puzzles again with each character and deleting a character and creating a new one will work too in that regard.

Magic Find - Chests

Magic find only affects the loot generated froming killing monsters.

Keywords:
ONLY – only, forget everything else they didn’t happen to cover or mention…ONLY killing things

Loot Generated – Loot generated, aka when monsters die, they generate a set of items based on your MF, this does not affect your personal bags or any bags in general you get—That’s a separate and irrelevant generation. Aka when you get a bag from loot that you can open, MF does not help what you get from it because whatever you get from it is generated from opening the bag NOT killing the monster.

1. Bringing an arguement with someone from one thread to another is bad form, and suggesting that wanting this option is lazy is very bigoted of you. I wonder how you’d change your tune if you lost a hand.
2. Perhaps his friend (or my friends who have mouse problems, for that matter) doesn’t want to spend an extra $80 for a mouse, when he could just have an optional mechanic in place in GW2 that worked perfectly fine in GW1

OK, first off, you should clarify who each of those points are at, because that number 1 point had me confused as hell for a bit.

Sorry about that. #1 was aimed at GADefence.5634, who… did it again… so therefore, I think all GADefence.5634’s points are invalid in this thread, merely because he’s wanting to antagonize Bacon over a completely different thread, ignoring other people who may want or need what Bacon suggests in this thread, that has nothing to do with what’s going on in the other thread.

In any case, I’m merely arguing for yet another thing that worked perfectly in GW1 being added to GW2. In GW1, I didn’t use my mouse hardly at all. I even picked up loot with the keyboard. And my AoE’s worked just fine by tab-targeting. I type over 100 wpm. I know the keyboard. I hate the mouse. Plus, I know several people who have functional disabilities that cannot use the mouse as well as others. These people should be able to play GW2 as well as they did in GW1. Me, I’m learning to use the mouse, but I know I’d play the game better if I could just use what worked for me for years in GW1.

Upvote. More options* should always be accepted. In no way shape or form should this make the game horrible—GIVEN that they do not include this in any PvP related setting, because people may call it cheap to have fast-cast. But an option for PvE sounds pretty legit. This is a “Suggestions” forum for a reason, not a debate forum. Either say you don’t like the suggestion and “why” (<—that’s really important) or leave. No point in trying to enforce your own standards onto other people and thinking that “well if I can do it, or my friend can do it, why cant you?” People have different habits and wants, whether Anet chooses to cater to them is up to them, but by no means is it not worth suggesting. Hope something comes to help you out soon Bacon!

@OP I agree that it’s weird to have the HoM option and then the wp to Lion’s Arch costs money. I think they should take out one or the other because that’s just silly—it’s basically saying “Oh, well if you didn’t know there was a Asura Gate that leads you to Lion’s Arch in Heart of Mists we are gonna take some silver from you.” So I can see how it’s an exploit due to the fact that people who never go to sPvP land may never know it exists and waste their silver on it. But in regards to the waypoint cost debate which is not really on topic to the thread, I think a flat fee would be great or maybe a diminishing fee, if you waypoint constantly over a short time, it costs less. Idk. I think the fee should stay though to encourage “meh, I can just walk”

I think it’d be cool of there was a strat menu option for minions/familiars/summons which could pre-set there attack modes/positions. Aka,

Attack Modes: (lacking creativity right now, so I apologize)
- Hold, do not attack
- Passive, attack when main player is being attacked
- Attack, attack nearby enemies
- Attack when hp is low, do not attack target enemy until hp is lower than 1/2
- Attack only wasps, risen plaguers, etc.

Positions:
- Stay behind me
- Stay in front of me
- Stay to the right of me
- Stay left
- All other positional placements (could be dictated by a circular gui with the player in the middle and the animal/minions on a circular slider and could have certain radius inputs for each minion)

Anyways, I think that’d be pretty fun.

Can’t see it working, if it works anything like the example you showed, since the target player wouldn’t be able to react (NPC didn’t move in that video during them attacks).

If it was an incredibly flashy attack though (in terms of effects and animation), I wouldn’t say no.

Yeah…I guess that video doesn’t integrate well with gw2 mechanics, but I recall Dragonica? or Dragon’s Nest having ultimates (both MMOs) which probably fits the latter of what you said, it’s big moves that have incredibly flash effects and that’d be amazing if gw2 classes could implement them (I believe they aren’t freeze frame animations either, so npcs can move)

Badges are a reward for engaging in WvW, I don’t think the current “do the jumping puzzles” solution is enough. The puzzles are there to have something else to do, not to be the main source of badges.
We should be rewarded with currency and WvW prices for completing WvW related objectives.

Right, I agree. I was just mentioning as an option to help people collect badges with the current system, but for the future mayb—tough objectives such as taking down keeps to earn badges sounds pretty legit.

November 15th Massive Update: Precursors Addressed?

I find this kind of sad that we haven’t had an official response about the state of acquiring precursors (unless I missed it). If there isn’t a change coming in the future, then I might as well stop playing this game all together. I don’t want to be a part of future RNG systems to obtain items. I’ve only wasted 150g on the Mystic Forge and there aren’t many good ways to make money anymore. I’ve reduced myself to only doing 3-5 mystic forges per day because I don’t play as much. The system sucks the life away out of the game for me because I want to complete an ingame goal but it feels impossible.

Well, the only major items that require RNG is the legendary, you have what…like everything else to choose from? And if you just want to complete an ingame goal, then what?—quit the game? Which is what you were going to do now anyways. The change shouldn’t be necessary. IMO, the best thing to do is make a new set of “legendaries” that have more definite recipes—that way, people can stop complaining about not getting a legendary and we can keep the current set of legendaries…well, legendary. And let’s face it, plenty of “heros” are legends because they were fortunate and born great, not because they worked hard for it.

Again, watch Naruto and learn about Neji and Rock Lee; two sides of different legendary origins. I totally support people who want the legendaries for the ingame completion. It’s pretty satisfactory. I do not support people who just want these specific legendary skins—it’s just a skin; it wouldn’t be legendary if everyone could get it easier (aka more definite, b/c if you take out RNG, people will have it all over the place); it’s just a skin and Anet made it the way it’s supposed to be—be a game designer yourself if you want to change things, but seriously don’t expect to play a game and want to change something that by no means affects anyone other than their “wants”.

We already have fake legendaries in the game with definitive recipes. I’m not watching Naruto; it’s just bad. I’m not asking the devs to change the skins or change the whole game. Nah, not trolling. I just don’t see your point. Fake legendaries are not legendaries lol—I have no idea what you are even referring to. It seems to me the problem is you just want the skins? Right? If there was an item that looked like a piece of kitten in some awful neon colors and it had a ridiculous RNG system that was used in order to obtain it—and it was let alone just “rare” in item rarity—you probably wouldn’t get it nor complain about the RNG. So it must be you want the skin very badly and because RNG is affecting the way you get it, you complain about it. So as a proposal, I am talking about a new set of weapons with equal or better effects on par with the current set with definitive recipes. If you however want the Sunrise or whatever it may be for its specific effects no matter whatever new legendary triumphs it, then we got a different problem there. Obtaining a skin is an option. Getting a legendary is different than obtaining a skin. All I’m trying to say is that I understand how people would want a legendary for the achievement—there should be various ways to get a legendary. Getting a specific skin however should not be in any shape or form changed because it is the way it is. Thus, additional legendaries with definitive recipes would solve this outcry for change I would hope.

Do you mean like pulling targets? If so, there are some tactics used in dungeons to single out strong silver enemies. Some dungeon mobs have it so when you attack any target in a mob though, the whole mob will follow it to the attacker—However, sometimes certain enemies in the mob will follow you farther than other enemies in the mob so it takes experience to know which ones to pull (or luck even). But again, not sure what you mean by LOS.

As I’ve suggested on another thread. I think the best way to handle this is make more legendary options (that look cool of course) with more definite recipes. That way people stop complaining about not having legendaries for the achievement or for whatever reason they QQ about it for. RNG should stay; it’s just how it should work—it’s not bad game design because the intent was for only a select few lucky people to get them. But seriously I hope they come out with a new set of legendaries soon that are “not based on RNG” so people can calm the kitten down.

Oh, and for the time to do them…uh, it’s about 5-10 min for each borderland puzzle and 20min to an hour for the EB puzzle due to falling. Once you get used to it, you can probably do borderlands in 7 minutes and EB in 20-30min consistently. I just did borderlands because EB was just too long.

Actually, most people do not complain about badges because they probably do jump puzzles for them. Each jumping puzzle in borderlands give 4-6 badges of honor and eternal battlegrounds gives around 15-20 badges of honor. You can do this for EACH character every 24 hours. So that’s (4-6*3 + 15-20) * 5. I got 500 badges in less than a week during early hours/late hours when most people are up and warring about. The only realy problem is gankers who just camp these puzzles and try to stop ppl from getting them. But it’s probably the easiest way if you don’t run into enemies. But yes, agreed drop rate should be better; but just wanted to say the best alternative for right now!~

I think it would be really AWESOME if we had something above elite skills such as an ultimate or hyper combo with super flashy effects.

I am a huge “Tales of…” fan and it’s always been a great feature of most rpgs I play.

It could also be something similar to Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom. Just a freeze frame animation—maybe the screen darkens for people nearby when its executed.

Anyways, cool thought, it’d be silly in open world PvE or WvW, but maybe an optional feature in sPvP or only allowed in dungeons? Including extra features for different parts of the game could make it more interesting and probably make dungeons a lot more epic!

@Milky, I just want to make sure you understand what others are saying—You get skills points from leveling, and doing skill quests throughout the map. When you hit lvl80, you still get skill points for every 254,000xp~ish earned. There is NOT a limited amount of skill points. It just seems like you are still paranoid about using them haha but it’s not a problem.

If an enemy hits you with Cripple and walks away, he’s out of melee range.

My WvW build runs truly absurd amounts of Condition Removal, but neither you nor automatic removal is going to act within the split second where you’re still in melee with your target.

When pursuing somebody, they don’t NEED to cripple you for more than that split second; once you’re out of 170 range your damage is gone.
At this point, you need to remove cripple or wait it out, then blow a gap closer. If they use an escape skill or cripple you again, that’s that, they’re gone.

Swiftness is more helpful to our enemies than it is us. Staff’s the only weapon we possess with it, and its duration isn’t very long. Switching mid pursuit to refresh it is generally not a good idea.
Retreat/Save Yourselves have heavy 48/60s cooldowns, and take up valuable utility slots. But then, if your opponent is also using swiftness, then you’re not gaining ground regardless.
If you DON’T have Swiftness, you’re basically autocrippled compared to a class that has easier access to Swiftness.

Hm, crippling twice sounds pretty rough. Do you know what’s the cd before they can start it again? And what utilities do you use? I think swiftness is pretty useful imo due to aegis and swiftness. And gaining ground is done by JI, leapoffaith, sword flash. As long as you can get beside the person, you can hit them, or knock them down really quick to catch up even more. Shield #5 is pretty good to use when the enemy is annoyingly right outside of blade range. Also, I feel like condition removal is common for most Guardians? Is Pure of Voice not helpful? or rune of the soldier? jw I never use that, My only sources are combo finisher light with whirl, elite skill (due to rune of lyssa), and signet of resolve’s passive effect along with a valor trait to remove conditions every 10 seconds. It seems to work fine for me.

The Guardian has almost zero escape mechanisms. You can’t teleport away from someone, the only thing you have is leap of faith in your opponents opposite direction. That’s it.

Edit: As a Guardian, once you’re committed to a fight, you’re not going away unless you win or die.

I agree, our gap closers cannot be used as much of a gap creator—but JI can be used in certain situations to get out along with sword flash. (but most people don’t use gs/sword) haha

To refresh the discussion I would like ask a question to those who think that guardian is super gap closer, player catcher, inevitable doom and others…
Just for fun think about it other way: what would guardian do if he wants to run from somebody?

I know that nobody here ever runs from a fight and kill every oponent, but make me a pleasure – let it be just theoretical, so i will ask again:
How does guardian run from other ppl?

Escape is tricky for me, but as long as there is a target monster within sight I can JI, renewed focus, leap of faith and sword flash (given another further target) out of there. I actually did this when overwhelmed by a warrior and thief.

Edit: Also as long as you get outside combat, you can wp to the nearest wp you have.

Hm, not saying my build is great, but I feel like my 10/5/30/20/5 build is pretty solid with berkserker gear/zerk upgrades/rune of lyssa combo. Great offense, defense, regen, condition removal, and stun breakers. But I do admit I’m not a PvP kind of guy, so I could be entirely wrong for everything I’ve known to believe haha. I appreciate all news anyways I just like experiencing it for myself which is hard to find in my luck with WvW ventures.

Tell you what, lets meet up. I will use my thief, and record videos of me dropping you before you know what I did to you, this will be the combo, assuming you have about 1800 toughness and 3000 armor, with around 1kittenp. Unless you are full bunker build which is pointless because you do hardly any damage.

You also assume you have aegis up all the time for the first attack, which usually is not the case, its once every 45s or 30 if traited.

Anyways here is what will happen:
Step 1: Hit you once, shield is gone
Step 2: I cast Scale Venom, then Basilisc venom on you, you cannot do anything for 1.5s (no spells no movement),
Step 3: use steal/cloak and dagger at the same time along with activating assassin’s signet (150% dmg on next attack), this way my backstab hits you for about 9-11k depending on your armor levels) My cloak and dagger already hits you for about 4-6k, and my steal for about 3-5k. In this time you have been unable to do anything because of basilisc venom. (At this point at min i have done 16k damage in 3 attacks, and max 22k) So depending on your health you are downed/barely alive.
Step 4: Depending on the circumstance, 1 heartseeker, or stealth and flee from battle.

Alright, that’s fine. I mean, I can somewhat believe you and it makes sense, but we can play it out. Give a few rounds to get me used to it though. But let’s try to prove one thing at a time. Before we complain about how theifs can get away, we should look at if a Guardian can even fight a thief with appropriate builds/skill level. Then if I do beat you consistently, we can see if I can keep up with you upon retreat. But haha, try not to be so presumptious. I’m not your average player :P and neither are you thus I have not called you out on anything

Sure, I’m down with that. Uh, i think my armor is 2600? And aegis stacks in duration, virtue of courage makes it so you have it for like hours upon hours if you haven’t been hit by someone in awhile. And yeah, beyond that, I never use its passive effect, I use the activation whenever I can. I’m in SoR though. I’d prefer not to transfer but if you are in Eredon Terrace or Tarnished Coast, I’ll go for a bout.

And PS; I’ve fought almost all classes in WvW and have never lost. The only times I die are due to 4v1s. You have to realize most ppl who WvW are not sPvP champs or even well-geared people.

How? how can you JI something you cannot see, this is flawed with trying to say it will work on a thief. I can count the number of times on my hands that I have died to a guardian on my thief in WvWvW in the open field, and of those times all of them are because I decided to stay and fight.

Hit tab constantly until he pops up haha. But theifs can be hit in stealth right? If he’s nearby flail around, and be on guard for a sudden strike (which will take them out of stealth) and strike back. Point is, if I hit you and you hit me, I should win given the utilities I have. Aegis+33%dmgreduc+retal help in defensive counters. Personally I use my shield and get ready for a shield of absorption blast if my hp goes down at all and then go to attack them. Anyways, I’m out on this thread, but all I just wanted to say that although it may be harder for us; we do have all the skills we need to beat other classes.

SoR is good, but don’t mention you are from another server or they’ll harass you haha, but we treat all “natives” really well. Queue time depends on our enemies, we take huge part in WvW so it’s usually high queue in the beginning but evens out as it goes on.

Hm, I doubt it’s unrealistic SKuDDer, but that just shows the player’s skills in action. I mean, other players can make mistakes but let alone that each situation is totally different. If the guy heartseeker’s 3 times and retreats, heal + JI, cover that 1200 and leapoffaith or sword flash to him, or both. Get close enough you can bind and hit him and then still keep up with him with our speed boons. I think you should go to other threads and read their complaints on us, before wanting changes to ourselves. If the whole community even other class players think we need a buff, they I feel like then we should. I mean…I feel necros need a buff haha because I barely see one in any pvp setting let alone have troubel with one.

Yo, this thread has so much negative energy. But as a contribution, I agree with the “nothing should change” side. We are already conveniently given the option to buy such precursors on the market due to the luck of other people (whoever they were) and 300g is not outside of reach from casual playing; it’ll just take longer—do things for fun in the mean time or try out your economic skills on TP. I mean, I just speed run dungeons and karma farm all day and make around 5-7g a day (sometimes 10 if I’m “lucky”). But everyone is spazzing overy RNG and blaming others who are profiting over the legendaries on the TP.

What if it was account bound (someone wanted this in a different thread)? That means everyone would suffer RNG and would be forced to experience it there would be no other way. It’s on the TP and I am thankful it is because I personally hate my luck.

“Oh it costs to much!” Nah, you just are impatient.

“It’s people exploiting the game.” Ah, well, they are at least putting it at an attainable price and sharing their finds—who knows how long it’d take all of these players to work the RNG out into a precursor.

“Legendary isn’t legendary because you need luck!” Well, this can be debated countless times depending on your life experiences; because we all grew up watching different things and believe in different things—sometimes we see the “chosen hero”—why was he chosen? He was just lucky. Sometimes we see the “hardwork hero”—why was he legendary? He worked for it. Watch some Naruto guys, and see Neji vs. Rocklee. Anet just decided that the legendaries needed both. And that makes sense.

Everything is an option in this game. If you want most things you can get it. If you want something legendary, just hope the game choose you to have one while working hard for the other parts—don’t think it’s worth it? Try something else. Anet is releasing stuff more and more—there may be more legendaries with definite recipes, I don’t think anyone deserves anything in this game. If you thought about it that way, you’d probably be more grateful about what you can get.

There are definite ways to do everything. I’m surprised no one complains about the mystic clovers, cause I think that’s harder to get than gold. I feel like by the time you farm 1mil karma (maybe even more like me with my luck!) you’d get pretty close to a precursor.

And a last note. “Oh no, what if prices go up??” It’s not worth worrying about until it actually happens—“But I don’t want to farm gold just to see it go up!” Then don’t. Play and get the gold by having fun. Anything you do in the game gives you money maybe 5 months from now “Oh gosh…I have 500g?” Or perhaps more legendaries with better looks come out and you can get them easier.

10/0/30/30/0 A Build For All Ocasions (Nov 7th)

So I watched 5min of it. I am not sure exactly what kind of damage I do, but man were those engagements really long! I like how she (or he?) could survive multi-man vs 1, but idk battles that last that long can be dangerous (especially with reinforcements) so I think that build is good, however I think giving out some vit/toughness for dps would be better in closing out the battle quicker. And maybe switch to JI on one of the stats because it seems like she’s being kited a lot. As long as you are side by side the enemy, and both have speed boons, you can damage them because you move at the same speed, even better if their speed boon is not active. I normally fight up to 4 people with my build no problem and down at least 2 in the first 3-5 combos. Anyways, it’s a good build but way too defensive for my tastes.

what exactly is a “support” guardian? Everytime Ive played with one of these support guards before, all they seem to be doing is supporting themselves. Aka stand in the back with a tennis racket auto attack and afk. Is every guard that ive met that wants to use support style just a baddie? or is this how it is supposed to be? Personally I think any guard that isnt speced for tanking is a baddie.

Nah, they just aren’t using the class right. I pretty much carry all of my groups in ac exp but let alone the negligible ressing I need when focused fired on time to time, but the build we suggest for most guardians should be beneficial for themselves and allies. I always ensure allies have virtues when needed and any boons I can give them when cd is done. Anyways, in regards to @OP, I’m down to run AC anyday after 8pm est.

All berserker gear, 13khp, 3066 attack, 2600 toughness, 46% crit chance, 91 crit dmg, use sigil of strength for gs, and use sword & shield, and 6 rune of lyssa.

I’m up for AC and COF only because that’s the only two I know. Any others I’d have to run with guildmates first to get the feel of it and know more about it before I join.
