You get more points for your server if you stomp with the bloodlust buff on. I think that’s sorta nitpicky, but whatever.
Also, the first three fights in the video OP did stomp with BL on. Hard to tell in the first fight because it looks like the stomp animation started but it cut off.

I think Inspired Virtues should be baseline, since the baseline ones are so uninspired.
Currently I think Guardians are too tied down to this tree and thus 2 or 3 of the trees aren’t even given a chance. It reminds me of rangers in the past when they had to go all the way down to GM to make sure their signets weren’t complete garbage and that trait would compete with other good ones. That was a fine example on top of many on why ranger traits were garbage at that point but it was dealt with.

As someone who hasn’t run a dungeon in months, I find nerfing their rewards to be uncalled for. “Shifting” would imply making other reward sources better; nerfing dungeons is more like giving an inappropriate gesture to it.
It is funny how the system is not particularly rewarding I would say, yet tedium seems to be inbound.

I do not think a speed signet would be helpful as we already have a utility that gives swiftness (Retreat!). It would make more sense to buff the swiftness on it then to put it on some other random skill. And even in that case, sacrificing a utility slot is a very large sacrifice.
Personally, I’d suggest a swiftness proc trait for DH (longbow skills grant swiftness, for example) , and a 25% movement speed added to right hand strength (you move 25% faster when holding a 1-hander) or something. Alternatively you could make something up for one of the honor adept traits, because those traits are terrible anyways. Or change that GM symbol trait in honor (I really can’t remember the name) to make all symbols grant swiftness.

A lot of people would claim +movement speed is mandatory is in certain contexts, given the popularity of traveler runes, some posts in this very thread, and many more in this subforum. So the complaints are already to no end and two options would be better than one.
It is my opinion that the game has changed a lot, and guardian should be updated to adapt to it, as the power creep has been significant.
While the creep is real — because new options will always combine to create new possibilities in complex combinational systems — if +25% speed and blue-white flame are ever to be found in the same place I’d rather it be in the core lines rather than walled behind an Espec because with all 6 gods as my witness if it’s not we’re just gonna see “MUST HAVE 25% SPEED!!” every third post the next time a new Guardian spec is being developed…
Again, the way I see it, we’re already seeing “must have +25% speed”
People are going to complain regardless of what’s being done or not done; I don’t think that’s an excuse to do nothing, honestly. It is of course, fine, if you don’t see a problem.

It’s not a good time to make stuff due to the changes that can and will happen.
I would instead save up on crafting materials, in particular the tier 6 needed to make inscriptions and insignias, as well as stuff like silk and wood. Also, make sure you reach 500 in the crafts you need. Soldier Insignia cannot be crafted though, so make note of that. Also, it may be a good idea to have alternative gear, particularly trinkets that can be swapped so you can have different stats on demand.
If you ask me though, healing power is not too good to make a huge investment in, since any amount of poison is going to mess with it heavily and the big burst damage which is popular will often kill people before your healing means that much. You will most likely be wanted for your cleanses and CC, with healing being secondary. I am not exactly sure, but on release you really need to check out the healing coefficients before you go at it.
As an example look at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cosmic_Ray
Healing: 810 (0.2)
The coefficient is 0.2, meaning if you had 2000 healing power, you’d heal at 1210 which is 50% more! But 2000 healing power is such a huge investment. You’ll need to look up skills with better ones or have a lower base so the difference is larger. I haven’t actually played a druid, so you’ll have to visualize what skills you use the most.

I dunno man; maybe it’s not a good idea to release such large content changes that might go wrong when a lot of people are bound to be playing. This isn’t the first time of course, so there might be some degree of self-reflection at certain points. Yes, stuff is guaranteed to break. Everyone understands nobody is perfect. That’s why the assumption that there will always be something wrong must be taken into account!
It’s funny because I announced to people that “I’m going to purchase the expansion later tonight!” and then this happens. Just make sure this stuff doesn’t happen when the expansion comes out, please! When there are coverage gaps, Anet will form their own zerg and PvDoor as needed to balance the matchup.
In all seriousness, buy a siege disabler. That’s way more effective than making a thread. Or actually fight them.
A group of cata together can bounce a disabler pretty effectively by timing the shield (number 5)
That is true, but they have to see you coming first. Though I suppose the tower was already taken, though it’s bound to happen when you’re distracted elsewhere. Apparently the tower was already taken before anyone could defend it.
Besides, it’s moot anyways in the grand scheme of things. What kind of silly server WPs SM, goes into the enemy’s EB 3rd while a good deal of their borderlands North is gone wiith a paper hills and bay?! That doesn’t look like a winning strategy.

People who are cheering the demise of the meta will find out in a month or two it will just be replaced with a different one. They nerf direct damage? It shifts to Condis. They introduce unavoidable damage? It shifts to classes that can best handle that damage while keeping up DPS or classes that can allow others to recover (such as 1 healer with 4 DPS being more DPS than 5 people who bring DPS and healing).
Blaming the developers and the content they design is pretty misleading. There’s (currently) no PvE worth being competitive about in GW2 yet it still exists and people still argue about best this or meta that.
It’s really a catch-22 for them because if they make it too hard players will create meta builds that are “required” to do the content at all and if they make it easy enough for any build to do it then people going to use maximum DPS to power through it fast as they can which people still then “require.” Metas are a creation of the player base.
I agree with this on a fundamental level because there is inherently a better way to get through something than another.
If they didn’t want zerker gear to be dominant in content, they could introduce content where killing the enemy is not a priority, say you have to escape from a collapsing dungeon, and the boss is merely trying to take you down with it so your main goal is to find the escape route or make bosses which aren’t able to damaged directly but you have to set off traps or something. I’m not sure how fun that would be though.
If the way to make zerker gear not the best is to artificially increase the difficulty by making damage unavoidable, or worse, forcing damage on the player of which they require healing or a certain stat threshold to survive it, then I’dd rather not have that at all.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
Hmm, it really depends.
If the new content becomes too tedious as a result, one may find people running the old stuff which will be more profitable. And that’s the ultimate problem when people talk about the “meta” when speed and gold become a primary goal.

So how is the 4s channel going to work for shield? Are you going to be making dumb motions for 4s until the bubble comes out? Or is the bubble instant but you have to wait for the other stuff? I don’t mind the later because the knockback/heal is pretty irrelevant anyways and I’d definitely prefer the newer version as long as the shield bubble is instant.

I don’t get why casting veil or water skills prevents you from attacking the enemy afterwards. Veil’s on a 72s cooldown. What else are you doing? I mean every class has support skills that aren’t mutually exclusive with offensive skills. There’s also skills like feedback or traited curtain that reflects that accomplish both. Just find enemies that are trained down and hit f1 f2 f3 f4, then blink out. You can also hit them with skills such as gs2/3, staff 5 if you traited chaotic interruption. Or fire sigils.
When I first played Mesmer I was thinking “dear lord, why should I trait such a long cooldown skill that doesn’t help me?” until I realized the fight going more smoothly = more bags anyways.
I’m not even going to talk about staff ele as you could put all your water skills on cooldown, change attunement and hit random button (but preferably fire). If you trait lightning rod, there’s absolutely no reason to not get bags on a staff ele because your “support” also does damage now.
What they could do though, is to lower the dps threshold for tagging or to it so that your party members hitting stuff when you’re close enough to be good enough for credit, although I’ve never really seen that to be a problem except in pve and sometimes the champ lord. But it does seem buggy. Once I got credit for the bag and not the cap.
If one wants to talk about helping and not getting enough credit, I would bring up people that knock down walls with siege and don’t get a champ bag because they can’t rush over in time. I think that’s fundamentally wrong on many levels as this makes it both tedious and unrewarding. I must admit, I suddenly become deaf when someone asks to get on a treb.

I get that people want to rant about bad attitudes in fight guilds, but I’ve met some nasty people across my time in T1-3 who were in PPT guilds, who were simply pugs, and even that one time a developer caused trouble. They exist everywhere, and if someone is that bothersome to you, block them. If it’s a reportable offense, report them (I’ve had to report many a player in WvW for misconduct). Players have a right to be on whatever server they see fit for their guild and playstyle regardless of what one bad apple has done to anyone here.
Heh, well in personal experience, I’ve seen far more toxic behaviors from the PPT side of things just because it’s more likely people will make demands to others that really have no reason to listen. It’s pretty delusional to think that pugs will adhere to anything one says by yelling at them rudely.
The “game mode violation” incident just seemed to be a misunderstanding where neither side would back down and thus escalated into something worse, but that’s how it always seems to go. I think the GvG’ers were in the right, but they could have also reacted better too.

You are acting like the revenant can do ALL of those things at the same time. Yea the rev can give more might if he ONLY focuses on it. Or yes he can give better protection if he ONLY focuses on that. Where as a guardian can give protection, aoe stability, aoe condi cleanse and reflect all at the same time. The revenant has more ability to play different roles I completely agree but I don’t think it by any means overshadows what a guardian can do. I will be playing revenant and guardian because I think both of them will be wanted in just about any group. I personally don’t think one is “better” then the other because its hard to compare when they play different roles.
And the funny thing is there is already a class that easily spits out AOE might, protection, fury, aoe cleanse, regen, and fury while lounging around.
Stuff like AOE regen is so trivial given by many random builds that they are hardly relevant anyways.

Cash shop item? No
Using common sense to take screen shots or recorded footage, as well as properly reporting them, so that there is evidence of your accusation ? Yes
Well, I certainly don’t appreciate the Cash shop insinuation either and I agree that these methods are effective, but getting video footage is kinda hard because these things are kind of hard to anticipate unless you’re ready to record wvw at any time and WvW can still be somewhat straining on some of the potatoes we play WvW on. Screenshots are of course, what everyone can do, but depending on the kind of exploit, you really have to be attentive to catch them in the act especially when you have to wonder if it’s truly illegitimate.
On the other hand if anyone does play wvw on a potato and still manages to record footage, I’m all ears too. =p
In any case, I still think more options for reporting would be nice, as long as they punish abusers.

For sure they get points for balancing servers. It’s the bad sportsmanship that is inexcusable. They may need stagnation but trying to hurt or implode others servers to get it is bad behavior.
Well, that’s a fair point, and if they were doing such a thing, then I think that would be unacceptable.
Myself and others have proposed that also. The answer came as “we also want to farm pugs not just fight guild vs guild”
Farming other servers seems like a notable past time I guess, but we shall see if Guild Halls will change this.
Maguuma was not T3. They were built and brought to T3 for this very reason. To maintain a stagnant fights tier. Congrats mission accomplished.
Yea actually they were not t3; they were actually T2 and had an implosion and seem to have rebuilt though it seems to have coincided with the expansion being announced. I’m not sure myself.
I’m sure there are people that think like that, fine, but there’s also a lot of people that play for PPT rather aggressively. However, I am not sure if the vague notion of “fights” is the exact same thing as GvG. And anyhow, regardless if say the entity Maguuma wanted a fight tier or not, the GvG “takeover” was hardly planned because had T2 not gone through that shakeup, the GvG guilds would have not moved down, so such a plan to create a tier as a springboard for GvG’ers to take over servers would either be an insane plot that could see far into the future, or it was just dumb luck. So even if there is matchfixing, it’s not really the GvG doing. Unfortunately, I just don’t feel comfortable launching this accusation at an entire server.
I think most of these individuals were associated with GvG’ing.
I am not sure about that. There was just a lot of talk about so called “fight culture”. Currently I don’t think that moved to t3 either, as I’ve not seen anyone say “fite tier” with a straight face.
On the other hand, I have actually noted actual attempts of “server takeovers”, such as having friends and guildies on Yak’s Bend complaining about such a thing. I think in those cases, there’s a very clear trail, as the effects are quite destructive. As for the GvG thing, I have seen disruptions as well, but not necessarily at a level enough to disrupt the matchup itself. Then again, I have also read complaints from T3 about such a thing as well, but the evidence seems a bit more vague and more restricted to ancedotes.
But, rest assured, once Guild Halls show up, I think those that are just here to gvg and not really play wvw will be less of a problem. And certainly, nobody likes people that try to take over anything or enforce their own way of playing without a hint of concern to interact with the community. So, we can agree on that, maybe.

for there you have been and there you will long to return.
I think there are a number of issues with this topic.
First off, skill cap isn’t really defined; what makes it inherently that Thieves and Engineers take more skill to play? Plus the situations are too broad. For example, consider the difference between a d/d glass thief and a p/d dire condi roamer even just factoring this “risk and reward” thing. Likewise with an SD zerker engineer vs a condi double S engineer.
And even the method of success is hard to define. A roaming condi necro can certainly win many 1v1s in a faceroll fashion, but how does it perform when it has to disengage or fights people that constantly do so?

I would like to see some evidence of a large scale occurrence of GvGers attempting to manipulate glicko as such.
Did you not see the spreadsheet when those guilds xferred to T3? They made sure to usurp all 3 servers at once. Of course they rule the roost there now.. numbers advantage ftw.
Well, let’s think about this logically.
- If they all stacked on the same server, how would they “GvG” anyways?
- If they stacked unequally, that would cause one server to have a massive advantage and destroy the tier, as well as the other two servers. The people that are there, wouldn’t be happy.
- What other alternatives could you propose to become a non-issue?
- Numbers is not the sole factor to win a match-up. Coverage, round the clock coverage is and it would appear that many GvG’ers are the NA time zone, and they need to do some “balanced” and coordinated PvDoor for that to work.
- T3 naturally has coverage gaps that cause this stagnation. Maguuma for example has no SEA, and SBI has no EU, and thus were already even mostly even before the GvG movement came along. Even if there were a push for match manipulation, it wouldn’t be the GvG’ers that needed to help. I think there’s a confusion with cause and correlation here. Wouldn’t it be easier to transfer to t8 where their population presence would be decisive?
- Right now, Maguuma is ticking 350 while they’re taking SBIBL against a moderately sized set of of disorganized pugs. I bet Garrison’s almost gone. I don’t have to log on to know this because this has happened for the last 3 months before the GvG’ers came.
- Logically speaking, the ideal would be to have guilds constantly rotate, but gold isn’t always easy.
Before that T2 was empty enough they could fix things nice and neat, kick out NSP if they don’t consider them worthy of their “dojo”.. Their big mistake was trying to take on the throne, YB showed them what’s up.
I have definitely recalled certain fairly arrogant individuals that would threaten to control T2 if the incoming server did not conform to their style of play. However, I don’t think they were associating with GvG’ing. That I think was the opinion of certain individuals and certainly I developed a certain feeling that this was mostly propaganda and nonsense. So this mentality may have existed. Does anyone recall of any T2 matchfixing?
Don’t get me wrong I wish there was some kind of tier 0 separate from the bronze/silver/gold ladder. When EoTM was announced I thought oh man finally somewhere to just have fun. Too bad that didn’t work out.
EOTM was a good idea but I just think there’s too many things to made it easier to be a convenient karma train. Unfortunately, they said that EOTM would be a test bed for the future of WvW and I have not seen anything.

That speaks from your POV not 3 servers….
Matches against the same opponent every week just gets dull eventually….
Now now, remember not to speak for everyone.
GvG guilds like match stagnation for obvious reasons and try to manipulate as hard as they can to keep things stagnant. So are you SURE you like them in your tier?
Wait, let’s get this straight.
GvGs might like match stagnation because they want the servers to stay together and so they don’t have to PPT. Ok sure.
But of course to do this “match manipulation”, they’d have to manipulate PPT, and given how PPT is a 24 hour fight, they’d spend more time manipulating this than actually GvG’ing.
I would like to see some evidence of a large scale, coordinated, occurrence of GvGers attempting to manipulate glicko as such because I really do want Arenanet to become aware of the secret GvG Illuminati manipulating our structures. Well, at least until Guild Halls come out rendering the whole point moot.

Well, apparently nobody can give a straight answer, so I’ll just leave it at that.
If you want a better answer to take to your questionably attentive overlords…
Siege is incredibly unsatisfying both to use and to fight against. When large quantities of ACs are used it’s usually unreasonable to try and use rams so you generally have to go right to catas or trebs. That’s when things get double boring(!!!). The vast majority of your players are reduced to nothing more than glorified supply caddies and the few that are manning your siege get to play press 2 to kill tower for a while.
Once it gets to this state there’s essentially no gameplay at all. You just sit around waiting for something to happen; and depressingly often nothing actually happens. You knock down a wall and blow up the ACs then walk up and take the tower without even a finger lifted against you, because the ACs were the only reason anyone was “defending” at all.
To sum up: siege fights suck and are too much pve, not enough pvp.
Yea that actually does sound like a better answer. It does seem arrow carts do have trouble fitting in through how the game mode works.

I don’t really mind the downed state as much as I mind the idea of someone rallying dozens of people. I just think there could be some degree of moderation. And trash mob rallies are being gradually removed.
In practice though, poison on the downed is very useful. Just saying.
This would never work. We dont have healers in this game to keep us from getting 1-2 shot by the unbalanced powersnipers. Simply put, this game isn’t balanced enough to make it so we can survive a 100% – 0% in .5 second flat build.
That is my primary issue as well, to some degree; IMO instadeath would lead to even more pirate shipping where people are just not going to engage and wait until someone slips out of line.
