You can have a decent character but make them bad by putting them in the wrong place.

I mean, if he were a minor NPC that assists and dispenses knowledge, that wouldn’t be a problem. You don’t need much development for this.

However, when you have little to no build up, and push him in the middle of the story to stardom, and overshadowing other more interesting characters, that’s a problem. The writers didn’t equip him with enough credibility to take center stage.

I’m pretty much just saving story sections for dailies atm.

And yes, sadly enough, the PC character themselves are just too goody goody and perfect as well, beyond the small amount of input you can put in their backstory.

That’s not the issue exactly, the exact issue . . .

. . . is that he shows up in the Sylvari storyline for chapter three (Introducing you to the orders) and disappears for all of one chapter before he’s back. Everyone else? Never heard of him.

So he has pretty minimal development in the stories for one of the races, and then none for the others. Well, that doesn’t help much since he affects all of them.

I play some WvW, but very little, and mostly for dailies. these questions are just silly and if you want to convince anyone to come over, it wouldn’t do anything.

1.) Because you need to join a server to play the game.
2.) Present an argument on why WvW is fun, which you didn’t.
3.) I don’t care for dungeons either.
4.) No. 1-2 hours of WvW nets about 4-5 deaths on a bad day, which is like? 10 Silver? But come on, the drops in WvW are awful, the risk vs reward is horrible and gives little incentive.
5.) Irrelevant
6.) You’re doing a crappy job of convincing them, especially with threads like these and such an entitled attitude.
7.) Fame and recognition from whom? Lol, you think most of us care about respect from you guys.

I play what little WvW I do because…
1.) It’s fun to lay siege and kill other Zergs.
2.) People are helpful and aren’t arrogant and elitist. Attitude matters.

T3 Cultural armors - why so expensive?

It’s basically an optional “I am like, totally rich” item. It makes as much sense as buying booze that has no in-game advantages.

On the other hand, even if they were exotics, the differences would be pretty marginal, since it’s like what? 8 more gold to transmute it onto a armor with the proper stats?

Ultimately, they should have cost karma.

You know. There are many valuable, practically one of a kind, “legendary” items in real life that do fetch high prices…

so you should be able to get a reward that you havent worked for ? Sounds more like casuals crying, that they want the best items but not work for it…

Oh, and one doesn’t have to “work” to grind 1500 gold? What makes gold in this game less legitimate?

The only crier is you, since you’re the one complaining about the current system and arbitrarily decided that the trading post is somehow not the proper way.

Oh no, ectos are worth 25% less but yellows will actually drop. I find myself unable to care.

It’s best not to use hyperbole. It’s not like every other monster dropes yellows. It is still admist a heap of white, green, and blue junk. And porous bones.

Yes.

In fact want an online armory where I can link gear and build, though that’s not going to come anytime soon.

However, all of this needs to be opt in. You shouldn’t have to deal with busybodies. I am still wearing some green rings! :p

And elitist gearcheckers already do gear check people anyways. They are best ignored.

Don’t nerf it, buff loot in other places to not suck, and maybe people will go elsewhere.

I used to like dungeons, until i realised the lucky get rich from it, while I end up wasting my time.

Ursan we’ve already seen what these events look like with low incentive, I’ve seen graves with more activity..

It is far better as it is now.. honestly it seems the main problem people are having with new system.

“Oh, But there are so many people it causes it to lag”
“Oh, But there as so many people that I got put into overflow”

Both of those issues will become smaller over time, and guesting work both ways, while people from low pop servers can join your very high pop server to get theyr dynamic events quicker, people on very high pop can just as easily join a low/med pop server if they prefer there are less people at the events.

Personally I am on a high pop server, and there is no lag what so ever, when I guest on very high pop servers, sure there is alot of lag but despite that it is far more enjoyable due to the amount of people participating!

Yea, seriously. It doesn’t lag in some of the more deserted areas, but that’s hardly a good thing. Lag means there’s lots of people playing around, and that’s why I even bought this MMO in the first place. Solution is to handle the lag, instead of punishing people for trying to play the game. And it seems a lot of people are enjoying themselves— we have large gatherings on our server and share what dropped. And contrary to what some may think, we’re not popping oranges everywhere anyways. It’s usually just 1 mediocre rare.

Personally, I find the events nice. It makes me journey to areas I normally wouldn’t go otherwise. And people would go elsewhere if they didn’t feel so at mercy of the RNG like they do right now.

Oh, and I’m sure there’s quite a few TP speculators that don’t want the masses invading onto their turf. Well, too bad.

Well, overall I don’t think the difficulty for open world is very hard, though there are random spots that seem overtuned. Krait in general are especially bad perpetrators. I’m really not a big fan of dungeons myself.

Of course, one shall not experience the true horrors of downscaling until one has played as a minionmancer where your best minion can and will get crushed by like a level 12 enemy. :/

The real problem for me is the respawn rate. Veterans respawning when you’re looking for something is totally not cool.

Profession lacks coherency of design

Why are we the only class in the game that gets penalized for using utility skills? Blood is Power, Epidemic anyone?

Well, actually this is one of the few things they got right with the necro, since these are very powerful abilities.

Anyhow, back on topic, I think the problem is that Anet was mostly like “But they have 2 life bars” and used that a reason to make the necromancer terrible at well… you name it. Thus the whole Death Shroud thing remains the elephant in the room. The other being of course, the 25 stack cap which hurts others other than necros. So maybe they’ll care more in this case.

Are hardcore players this games worst enemy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ArchonWing.9480

ArchonWing.9480

Elitists are the game’s worst enemy because they exclude by default and want to twist the game to the way they play. The worst are the ones that have exploited, and the exploit fix, and want to secure their advantage by shutting everyone else out.

Hardcore players are not. They are frequently the reason why games survive for many years. They’re the reason why you can buy anything on the TP without it running out every 10 minutes. They’re the ones that carry newbies from content the first time around, or make boss runs go easier. They’re the ones that buy the low level mats from new players so they can create alts. They’re the ones that have mapped out the math for the game, so we can all conduct more qualified analysis about mechanics and decide how to balance and change things, as well as producing guides that people like myself are too lazy to figure out.

I would say though that high end content should be catered to hardcore players simply because they’ll be the only ones there anyways. If you don’t do this, then you’ll run into issues where people will just have nowhere to go, eventually.

It’s not just a hardcore/casual dichotomy. Just like how casuals get blamed for “dumbing down” games, when all the want to do is have fun. It’s actually the scrubs that have failed, are too lazy to think of another way that don’t want everyone else to have fun that cause problems. And I guess that should really be it with the stereotypes… In the end, realize that everyone has different needs, and the idea of balanced and fun should not be viewed in a narrow context.

I'm disappointed with the dailies

Maguma Veterans: Metrica Province around that reactor
Kryta Events: I’ll be nice and tell you where I usually get all my daillies from— Blood tide Coast. It’s also free to get there, so no complaining about WP costs, and there’s sometimes events right at the start of the zone.

Anyhow, the dailies certainly aren’t very fun. They’re actually easier and faster, but they are also busy work, since they make you do very specific things over the generic old dailies. It would be like if one daily was “Use 5 waypoints or talk to 5 vendors in Mount Maelstrom”. It would be trivial to do it, but extremely annoying and pointless.

IMO, they should have all types of dailies available, every day. The only exception would be the zone specific achievements which could be a “zone of the day” the type achievement. Scrap the trivial ones if needed, but this makes it so that it is not any easier to get them, yet also less annoying and arbitrary.

I actually got a key without noticing where it came from, got another key from the chest I opened. Can’t really say you’re losing out on much by not opening them.

Oh there’s champs now. I was like why there were a bunch of people on the ground.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind them if they actually dropped better stuff. Orr should be one of the hardest areas in the game, but it shouldn’t just give you crap. One of the bigger problems is that the game should reward you for playing it and not funnel you to where Arena thinks it’s “fun.”

If people want to mindlessly run between those two camps, don’t rain on their parade. Not all of us want to build berserker warriors and kitten that one dungeon all day.

Orr is still fine though. Maybe it’s good I spent yesterday doing the Melandru Chain instead. However, I usually get most of my gold from Moldy Bag contents, and rarely from drops. Even firing off an MF booster and having about 30% mf and MF food didn’t seem to give me anything.
