Bandit Skeleton Chests Farm?

Unfortunately, they nerfed the heck out of bandit chest farming some time ago. So much so, most don’t bother anymore. I know because I have like 60+ shovels in my backpack. And no keys. And I’m not buying keys with crests.

Saving crests for the next update. Which will undoubtedly require a bucket-load for the last two pieces of armor.

Finally, I agree with you. We said the exact thing about when the majority is done, the zone dies. So far, Silverwastes is teetering, but there are still people going from breach to breach because it can be profitable to farm rares and the like.

Not the chests. Not anymore. Not at all.

Sorry to say, but until something changes, it’s unlikely you’ll find a ‘group’ farming the chests outside of some guild runners. This will probably change a little bit when the next update to Silverwastes happens. But, my apologies for being the bearer of bad news, the day of Bandit Chest farming is dead.

Bell Choir is too hard to complete is what they’re saying. It doesn’t scale because the other players can’t help you, if you can believe that.

If that’s the case, as far as too many players, find another quest? One not surrounded by people? Wait to do it when the zone isn’t saturated with players all trying to get it done? Maybe group with those people? Those are just three ways, off the cuff, to fix this so-called problem.

Let’s not even go into ANet’s past philosophy please. Given the radical changes since the start, I think that’s a whole ’nother topic.

…You do realize once a train has started, it’s possible to clear every event in a zone and end up waiting for the next one to restart, right?

And yes, people could “wait until the area is less saturated, or choose another option.” Those are very really choices. However, people should choose to do or not do various dailies based on whether or not they want to do them, not based on an oversight by A.Net.

Also, while a lot has changed in the game, that particular part of A.Net’s design philosophy has been very consistent. It’s built into the drop tables, and it’s built into the way experience is distributed.

It’s one thing to disagree with someone’s complaint and state a reason for why the change would not be beneficial. It’s completely different to be argumentative just to be argumentative. You’ve actually not stated why you think scaling on the events shouldn’t be adjusted to accommodate the larger populations that A.Net has intentionally driven into the zones; you’ve just covered your ears, shook your head, and chanted, “Nope nope nope…”

Are we saying the train has taken all the events in the daily zone now? So, there’s no way to complete them? Again, did mine in less than fifteen minutes. People were calling events out too. No one else in the zone was shedding tears.

No, that can’t be it.

Okay, waiting for an event to start is unrealistic because that’s an oversight on ANet’s part. Because, heaven forbid, you have 24-hours to do the thing. Surely, it doesn’t have to be done now, now, now. Does it?

No, making people wait to do a daily is wrong too.

Okay, maybe there aren’t enough events in a zone? Hmmm. Seems everyone is getting them done within a timely manner. Maybe an hour for some. Maybe two? Most seem to be done in fifteen minutes or less. Just four events, right? But, I guess that’s too long of a wait and too many to do for a thing that lasts 24-hours. Instant gratification must be met.

Yes, the new daily for PvE is terrible because you can’t get it done instantly. Therefore, it’s ANet’s fault for now seeing this. So shortsighted. And against their philosophy.

. . .

I trust you are getting my point?

If there’s a problem, you’ll find I’ll be one of the first to say so. If the problem is within the game. But if the problem is feeding a players’ need for instant gratification? Because something took a little more time and effort to complete? Well, please do call me argumentative. Because that’s straight up babying the player-base.

Really didn’t think I needed to spell all that out, but I didn’t think we needed to spoon-feed posters the obvious either given the thread’s topic.

Silly, I know.

Living Story episodes in 2014: 11. Now count the weeks. No do the math.

Fine. Let’s not include the seasonals, the gem store items, the return sales on gem store items, the free items ANet sends you via mail for purchases, the special events, and other criteria you decided to skip in order to make your point.

Please tell us what other MMO adds as much content within a year that doesn’t add it all after two years with a $40.00 or more in an expansion you must wait a year or more to see?

If that game is so special, why are you still here complaining about this one?

Keep in mind, this thread was posted to congratulate the developers on winning that award. If you don’t like it, fine. But there’s no need to poo-poo all over the place because you feel . . . they don’t offer enough content?

I’m not claiming this game walks on water, but think about what you’re saying.

Minimalistic? Are we playing the same game? Typically, every two weeks, there’s new content. New items added to the gem store. New zones. New cinematics. New quests. New story lines. New events. New achievements.

Every. Two. Weeks.

But, these days, most people get their daily and get out. Sorry if you happened to zone in when the break happens.

It may be an inconvenience to you, in your haste to get it done and over with, but it’s not a waste of time for those staying to do more than just dailies.

Just something to consider.

This, however, is not a problem with the daily. It’s more a problem with event scaling, and it’s a problem that A.Net already knows how to fix, as it doesn’t become an issue in the new maps like Drytop and Silver Wastes.

Oh come on. Now it’s not scaling to your liking? Now we’re saying here that things are too easy because they don’t scale? Another threads says an event is too hard because it does. What are you people?

I crafted an ascended chest yesterday, does this count as “still playing the game”. If so, I feel free to comment on this board as an active player.

Doesn’t change the fact, that if this game had offered any less than we got in 2014, we would have gotten nothing. Best established MMO of 2014 my kitten…

I didn’t quote you, therefore I wasn’t talking to you. But, let me repeat, losing your kitten because some random website awarded a game you don’t care for, yet still play for some deranged reason, doesn’t mean they called your baby ugly.

It means they saw something they liked that either you didn’t see or disagree with. All this hand-wringing is nonsense. It’s not like you lost the award. As far as I know, you’re not an MMO in the running.

This endless complaining about a bunch of nothing is mind-boggling.

So . . . you’re mad that others are getting to an event before you can? And it’s unfair? You know you can wait in certain areas for said events to occur . . . right?

I just now finished my dailies in PvE. This included most of the Wintersday ones. Didn’t do snowball fight or jumping puzzle. Did the Fields last.

Took me, maybe, fifteen minutes? I’m not sure because I decided to craft backpacks for their skins since I crafted jeweling tools for my masterwork daily. Just getting them out of the way to add more skins for the wardrobe achievement.

. . .

Why is this a new trend on the boards lately?

MMOs aren’t created to be so easy that they don’t even require you to try.

The problem is, most are. Including this one. Players are not used to the prospect of failure in video games these days. Hell, people are not used to the prospect of failure in life; kids these days are given “final runner-up” medals when they finish last at school sports races and whatnot to shield them from having to admit the prospect of failure. Everyone’s a winner in today’s society, and darned if you hint otherwise.

The world, and gaming in particular, has fully embraced this celebration of mediocrity to the point that people feel something is wrong with the game if they can’t “win.”

This is a sad commentary, but undoubtedly a correct one. The recent responses about how ‘impossible’ the bell choir is make me pause. Especially since everything else is a cakewalk. Literally. But, when you coddle a community for so long, they tend to demand more and more of the same over time.

Even with their entertainment.

Seems self-defeating in the long term but, given the statements and opinions of late, not a surprising one either.

Necromancer is the class you want then. They can melee, cast spells, hit hard, survive, have pets that are not more important than you, have ranged, and tend to not be squishy given their toughness and hit point pool.

You’ll have to spec a specific way not to kill slow though.

But it sounds like necromancer is for you.

What do you do when someone is consistently “screaming” about there topic and dosnt understand rational thought and then does it all over again in every related topic
followed by creating new topics and making the problem as a whole seem much much larger than it is.

ignorance frustrates me and there is alot of it on the forums

(i do understand im not always right btw, i know when to shut up heh)

Unfortunately, rationality seems to fall deaf on their ears. Yes, we all know the people you speak of. At this point, I recommend you report them if you feel they’re out of line.

Unfortunately, again, I get the impression the moderators are understaffed with the holidays right now. So we’re seeing stuff that would normally get the chopping block pretty instantly.

From my personal experience, I would tell you ranger. But that “Good in PvP roaming” criteria is questionable for ranger depending on your specs and gear.

And yes, the traits and skills can get complicated.

Honestly, it depends on your playstyle. Do you like melee? Spellcasting? Ranged? Pets? Minions? Hitting hard and killing fast? Killing slowly with DoTs? Surviving better than anyone?

Again, these questions will lead you to the class for you.

So there seems to be a group of people in this forum that enjoys feeding on the tears of those who are unable to complete either the Bell Choir or the JP. Because the stuff is supposedly so trivial, surely they would support the proposal to replace the casual achievements with “real” ones?

I mean, come on, why should festival content be easy anyways? We already have loot pinatas world bosses for that! Those filthy casuals deserve nothing and should stop feeling entitled!

The attempt is to talk down to their peers and fellow posters. The attempt is to use sarcasm to troll those posters you feel should create a better argument. The attempt is what this thread is all about.

You’ve projected what your doing to those posters who feel the opposite.

If you can’t see that, then yes. We’ve both wasted our time. So let’s let a moderator decide it instead, shall we?

It applies. The first Wintersday events were nothing like these. This year, I give a copper to Ho-Ho-Tron and earn an achievement. The first year? It was survive 30 rounds of toy assaults with all your dolyaks staying alive. This year it’s open five Winterday’s presents and you earn another achievement. That first year? Win ten rounds of Snowball Mayhem, and steal the gift ten times from someone else, and then run it to your base X-amount of times too. You must win the battle to progress.

The policy, and its simplification and lack of effort, is the same regardless.

Long ago, just before Guild Wars 2 came out, there was a promo video, I think from a developer, who was saying that the game would allow lay players to do certain things with ease.

But it would also reward skilled players who could do the harder content. Solo or otherwise.

It seems so strange that this policy, so praised by players, is now the one posters complain about the most. The game was never meant to be easy all the time, and all the way through. Certain events and quests were meant to be a challenge.

Yet, over the last three years, we’ve seen this dumbing and easing down effect throughout the game.

And still, even now, it’s still too hard and unfair for some. I say it will always be too hard and too unfair to someone out there. That does not mean make the content easier.

It means you’re not up to the challenge. Please don’t take that as an insult. I couldn’t do certain things in the Queen Jubilee and just didn’t achieve the reward. And believe me, I tried. I really tried. Hard. But I couldn’t defeat the last boss.

Others could. Others got the reward. Was that fair?

Yes. Yes, it was. Because they tried harder, had the talent or skill, and they met the challenge. The answer is not make the content easier. The answer is knowing your own limitations. And learning from your mistakes.

And if a game makes you have a breakdown because you couldn’t get all the rewards, maybe it’s time to ask why. Because if a game makes you feel this powerless, real life is going to take you for a ride.

So…..like little league baseball?

“Its OK kids, even if you lost to a more skilled team, you still get a shiney trophy to take home saying ‘I tried!’ So you don’t get low self-esteem and feel bad”.

Sounds pretty accurate so far.

None of the rest of your argument pertained to the discussion at hand so I ignored it.

Are you familiar with the term: Confirmation bias? You should look it up.

Someone would come here and complain it wasn’t fair for some reason.

Really? That’s all you got out of that? Nothing about all the free items. Nothing about the free content. Nothing about the seasonals. All this free.

Nothing about paying for games that no longer exist? Nothing about paying a subscription for games that are now free to play? Nothing about any of that?

Instead, you want to focus on a digital item, that doesn’t exist, that you paid or created one or two years ago, as being unfair to you because now new people who didn’t have the opportunity to get them, can now earn one of them, for free by completing the achievement, because as a long-term player, you are not getting something shiny and new too? And that’s unfair.

That’s your argument?

Are you absolutely sure you want to defend that position?

I’m starting to see a trend with you. Yes, you are supposed to choose the 100 gifts if you have all the minis. Why in the world would you choose the mini if you already have it?

Why wouldn’t you choose the hundred gifts?

I didn’t get squat from the Halloween bags either. But you don’t see me bemoaning that fact on these forums do you?

I’ll do you one better. I bought Warhammer Online, City of Heroes, and Hellgate. Collector’s Editions, my friend. And guess what? They are now dead games. Offline. No longer exist.

Should I get my money back?

How about this? I bought Star Trek Online, Age of Conan, and Star Wars the Old Republic, when they were subscription games. Paid a subscription too. And now they’re free to play.

Should they refund me? It is a slap in the face to me now? Because I paid top dollar for something that’s now free to download and play?

That’s your and the OP’s argument. And it doesn’t cut it in the real world. We call that a too bad, so sad, suck it up situation.

Which I suggest you do.
