This will come off harsh, but no. Please no handholding tutorial area for those players not smart enough to figure it out on their own. That’s a huge reason for the radical changes to the leveling system in the first place.
The inability or unwillingness of a spoiled population to think for themselves.
If they can’t figure it out, they can ask. They can do some research. They can discover the answers on their own.
Please enough with the “You’re so stupid, so let’s dumb it down to Warcraft level and have signposts with arrows, huge circles, and tutors every step of the way.”
If the hearts, vistas, points-of-interest, in-game mail, glowing arrows on the compass, and instructions from the telescope NPCs aren’t enough, it’s never going to be enough for those players who can’t or won’t read and follow the signs.
Guild Wars 2 must not go down the same path World of Warcraft did. Where choices are gone because players are too dumb to decide or make them. So the developers removed those choices and decided for them.
The day that happens is the day I’m done with this game.

With one click, you can forward all those troublesome chests to me. Give that clicker finger a rest. It’s not like you were getting anything worth anything anyway.
Am I right?
Are you actually complaining that you’re getting too much . . . loot? And you have to open too many chests to get that . . . loot?
Well, in about another week or so, you won’t have to worry about the Wintersday . . . loot.
On that note, if anyone feel it’s too much of a burden to open all those chests, you can forward them to me. There’s no need to get frustrated. I’ll take them off your hands and without complaint.

While I do understand that a big portion of the employees don’t develope. It is unreasonable to beleive that 270 employees are just taking care of supporting an already released game.
I’m curious. Why do you find that unreasonable? In my experience, there tends to be more ‘support’ staff orbiting the main project than people actually doing the project.
In many cases, the support staff was just as critical to the project as those working hands-on. And, in some cases, more important. Again, from my own, and varied, experiences.
For example, in the U.S. Air Force, you might have 30-100 pilots flying the planes on an air base. And the rest of the base? All some form of ‘support’ staff making sure the base ran and the planes flew.
We’re taking tens of thousands of military and civilian personnel not actually flying the planes.
So it’s not unreasonable to think something similar happens with other entities.

There is no way to actually prove that Magic Find is or isn’t working, and Arenanet knows that their faithful players will, just as above me, spout the “rng is rng” mantra to cover for it.
This may be tongue-and-cheek, but it also has the merit of being true. We don’t have a solid metric to prove whether magic find has any forthcoming effect. We can speculate like mad, but the random numbers generator is exactly what it is.
Random.
So your guess is as good as mine, his, hers, and everyone else’s.
I can tell you, from a little research, that the employees get paid vacation. Often they work mad hours to get Living World content out. So much so, they’re often asked to work 12-hour days and come in on the weekends.
Yes, they’re on vacation. Given this criteria, I would be too.
You can find the source if you look, but you’ll have to find it for yourself though. I’m not getting banned providing that link.
What in my post, are you theatened by?
Was wondering myself. Read it three time to see if I missed something. Maybe your opinion is threatening now.
And we have a winner.
I quit! I mean . . . Happy New Year too.
I’ve seen a good dozen, maybe two dozen complaint threads by people leaving in the last month. I’ve seen as many about people joining in the last month.
I can guarantee you more people leave WoW a month than leave Guild Wars 2 a month. Every game loses people. Stop trying to make it something it’s not.
The kicker part is when a new patch comes out, we usually see them in-game again or complaining on the forums about something else.
Lately, I just skip these threads. The natives are restless because new content hasn’t come out in two weeks. That tells me people like the game a lot. And they need a new carrot to chase. Things will quiet down when the new patch comes.
Always does.
Edit:
There is value in a thread like this one, if people respond with well thought out responses rather than emotion-driven criticism of the poster.
You’re new around here too, aren’t you?
Well WoW is 10 years old and they’re still getting expansions. As long as there’s enough players (read: gemstore purchases) they can keep developing stuff. The game engine can easily last another 7-8 years, because it has a very unique and nice art style that doesn’t age that quickly.
Plus I still don’t see any even remotely interesting MMOs coming out this year or next year. Black Desert and other Asian MMOs will never gain much traction here in the west – just look at ArcheAge and FFXIV for an example.
EverQuest Next might rattle the cages, but it could very well be 2016 before we will see even a glimpse of it. Blizzard cancelled their “next-gen” MMO.
In short, I don’t see any reason in the foreseeable future why GW2 should cease to exist.
Pretty much this. And well said. Nothing’s coming down the pipe that has any noteworthy buzz from what I’m hearing. Just tried that FF 14 and, after an hour, I uninstalled the trial.
Not going to badmouth it, but it definitely was not my cup of tea.
Being that other ‘seasonal’ drops stopped when a new patch came about, with every seasonal patch ending prior, I suggest you get this one done as soon as possible.
Please note this does not apply to items you can create yourself. So, yes, Tipper will stay, but For the Children probably not.

Waiting six months for content? People can’t even wait two weeks or two months for it. Half a year? No wonder developers don’t say anything.
I wouldn’t want my words twisted every time I said something either.
Ah. That’s right. The anniversary is coming up. Good call.
Well, since we’re guessing anyway: new level cap, new class(es), new zones. Something ritualist-like if Rytlock is any hint.
Living Story-style ‘expansion’ as in one big download in the future.
Probably a line of quests soon that involves unlocking this content, again Living Story-style.
Guess not. . . .
Can we at least wait and see before airing negative, and sarcastic, comments?
Hindsight really is 20/20, is it not? But that’s life on the forums. At one point, during that expansion ‘discussion’, I could’ve said the sky was blue with photographic proof, scientific quotes from leading professionals, and some of our fellow posters would’ve denied it.
Said it was a conspiracy, and obviously I didn’t know what I was talking about because the scientists didn’t use the exact wording. “They didn’t say sky . . . they said atmosphere. You’re a cherry-picking idiot reading what you want to read.”
Still, if everyone agreed, and got along, the world (and these forums), it would be a pretty boring place. So I guess there’s a reason for everything.
Oh, and I hope you have your fire-resistant suit ready.
Having played GW2 since launch I truly enjoyed the game. However the recently instituted system of dailies has me disliking the game. I used to enjoy being able getting them done while playing the game. Now being forced to a certain area to mine/chop/gather is absurd. Being forced to do a boss (on a timer) in a specific area and having to wait 2 hours to do it is absurd.
I’m starting to have similar feelings about these changes too. While I understand the logic behind them, I must sadly agree.
In theory, it might work. But, honestly, it feels like they’re funneling us around for some reason. The ironic part is I’m waiting for the golem to spawn while I type this.
As soon as he’s dead, I’m logging out to play something else. Granted, it’s the original Guild Wars, but these changes aren’t exactly keeping me in game either . . . except when required for the dailies.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Well . . . that stinks. Be sure to report it in-game. Maybe they’ll send you something you can use.
Ones that add buffs. And maybe ones that add effects to you.
All signs say the next update in January.
Spoiler alerts please! I’m still going through Prophecies.
chains you to computer
DONT TALK UNTIL YOU FINISH. otherwise i will stalk you threateningly till you do >=D
(laugh) I’m trying, I’m trying! But this ascension part is driving me nuts.
Revenge of the Risen.
So this would be purely cosmetic? Like the witch’s broom?
Spoiler alerts please! I’m still going through Prophecies.
Um . . . let’s stick to the topic, shall we?
Personally, I hope Season 3 takes a while. I want Season 2 to completely encompass everything about Morty and his eventual defeat. Kind of like Scarlet. I really enjoyed the ending and aftermath of that.
I want Season 3 to emphasize a new threat or conflict . . . Jormag,

I just started to play Guild Wars 2 again and persuaded my friend to buy it so we could play together, but the problem is that he isn’t having to good of a time playing it. What’s the things we could do to make sure that he keeps playing and that he likes the game?
Honestly? Nothing. If he doesn’t like the game, he doesn’t like the game. Eventually, he may return and change his mind. We’re assuming he’s not just playing a class he doesn’t like or anything of that nature.
But, for now, there’s nothing we should suggest to make someone ‘like’ the game.
That’s something they need to decide on their own.
If you jump off the airship at the end of the Arah story dungeon (and have a revive orb) you actually can see the body.
Poke it with a stick to make sure it’s dead
Interesting. I completely missed that image. Well . . . maybe.
If Vayne’s the white knight, can I be Batman?
Don’t give the developers any ideas. On that note, if we’re talking proof, something is still keeping those corpses, around and near Orr, running about.
Just something to keep in mind.
I get the feeling, being primordial forces of magic and nature, no Elder Dragon can truly die. This is somewhat akin to saying the thunderstorm outside . . . died.
While it can be dissipated, maybe even delayed, eventually it will appear again. Even if it takes thousands and thousands of years.
After all, if Zhaitan is death . . . can death . . . die?
One for the philosophers to be sure. But, in comic book lore, you know what they say about not seeing a body. . . .

did you read that i summed up my whole experience in leveling\playing and that the trait changes came before the npe and i actually prefered the trait changes over the NPE? Cause thats practially what i wanted to bring across.
To be honest, I didn’t read it either. No disrespect, but you should break apart your response. The ‘wall of text’ is rather intimidating and off-putting to most posters.
Again, no disrespect to you, but just saying it’s doubtful most forum posters will read it all because it lacks white space.
Even if you had a valid point in there . . . somewhere.
Guild Wars 2 is easily the most beautiful game I’ve ever seen. You can call that fanboi fanaticism, but I call it fact.
Not saying all areas are, and other games don’t have beautiful backgrounds, but almost everything in the game looks like you could hang it on the wall.
The original developers definitely got the look right.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I’m hopeful they will, but I must agree that it’s unlikely. Still, I’m working toward those skins, titles, and achievements between Living Story breaks.
So it’s all good.
I’m going for those flaming gloves myself.
I’m a little underwhelmed by Tixx’s gift too, but free is free. I’m not complaining. Always a chance I might get something spectacular, so you never know.
Sorry Ardenwolfe, but I think you’re plain mistaken about this.
U.S. And from my experience, it’s breach hopping after breach hopping. It used to be you could see chest farming advertised on the LFG and also see it being done, prior to the nerf, around Amber and elsewhere.
But, regardless, that’s been my experience and others as mentioned in many threads. Still, if the OP got he was looking for, all the better.
Yet, again, we’re not seeing it on my server by any stretch. So, I suppose, your mileage may vary.
I got Faithful. It was also account-bound though. Since I already had the skin, I salvaged it and got two ectos.
I’m going to presume, given that I got that, we have a chance to get a precursor. But, I’m also going to presume, it’ll be account-bound too.
Can’t have precursors and the like filling the Trading Post, I guess.
Yes, January 13th.

At this point, I hope they do add an expansion . . . so we can stop seeing these multiple threads rehashing the same talking points. . . .
Chest faming’s en masse is not the norm by any stretch since the nerf and you know it. Also, they’ve nerfed the amount of crests and the like you get in return. So, now, most people do not farm chests in the large groups they used to. That is common knowledge.
While I’m glad you’re helping a fellow player, I really don’t appreciate you saying I have no idea what I’m talking about. There has been thread after thread in the past about how the nerf killed chest farming around Amber and elsewhere.
Please keep it civil if you disagree in the future. There was no need to be rude.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
You must be new around here.
Thanks, better late than never I guess.
January 13th.

Edit: Oh snap. I didn’t know either. . . .
I really need to quit reading these threads. It’s like Groundhog’s Day around here lately.
Yes, I want Season 3. And no, I don’t want an expansion at this point. I’d rather have them add $40.00 worth of expansion material for free. I’m funny like that.
I’m quitting too! To have lunch. No, you can’t have my stuff.
Paragraph breaks and white space are your friends when posting.
I wish I stumbled upon more role-playing. Makes the world feel alive when I hear more than, “Events?” in map chat. . . .
