Anyway . . . I’d like to see an expansion, but I’m not counting my chickens before they hatch either.
And I meant what I said about some people never being happy. The proof is in the above postings.
I’m not going back and forth on a point where someone called themselves out when all they had to do was keep quiet and look wise instead. I’d rather be playing the game, than proving a point about measuring quantity of content, thank you.
Now excuse me while I play that new content that apparently isn’t huge either.
Well . . . that didn’t take long.
Okay, all the new areas, achievements, bosses, fights, etc. aren’t new content. Got it. And no amount of new permanent content, besides Living Story which is the biggest plot pusher for new content. That doesn’t count either. Got that too.
And forget the gem store content, the seasonal content, Dry Top, Silverwastes, new PvP zones, WvW zones, Edge of the Mists, and the . . . of hell . . . forget all that. Doesn’t count either.
Yep. No new, huge, or permanent content. Yes, understood.
. . .
Like I said before, some people are just never happy.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
We call that the unending demand for new content to consume. Don’t worry, next week there will be threads that someone has done all the achievements in record time and is now bored.
“ANet needs to create more content faster, freer, to fulfill the void that is my sexless life!”
Well . . . maybe not those exact words, but you get my point. The forums aren’t exactly the place to be reasonable or happy with the game. Do that, and you’ll get called a white knight. kitten and complain, and you’ll be considered normal.
Forums are a strange place.
I know it makes me the odd man out, but I’m quite satisfied with the monthly to bi-weekly updates of new content. No other game I’ve ever played gave me all that, for free, at such a pace without bugs that broke the game, so I kind of don’t get the complaints and demands for an expansion.
But, if one does come out, more power to them. Still, in my gut, I just know it’s not what some people are hoping to hear.
If prior statements last year are any indication . . . but, again, we’ll see in a few days. Either way, I also expect there to be a lot of rage on these forums.
Some people are just never happy.
New pets . . . specifically one with the jellyfish mist heal on land please. That’s all.
Or the ability to mix, match, alter, or add to my pet’s abilities? That would be cool too.
Sounded like the Mad King to me. . . .
Edit: Ah. I see I was right.
I very much doubt it will be a traditional expansion in a box. But I do think it’ll be a gem store content, albeit a fairly large amount, that’ll be part of the Living Story . . . obviously. Downloaded with the purchase. Something along those lines.
But, as always, we’ll see in a few days.
Sure are a lot of “I told you so” even before it’s announced. Hope that doesn’t come back to bite you guys in the behind when it’s not what you expected. . . .
Update: For those interested, I found a ‘grubby’ package inside a chest today while going for the Diving Achievement in Silverwastes. Sure enough, inside, there was a ruined ornament.
So, apparently, you can still get the ornaments.
Orpheal, your rant made zero sense as far as long-term thinking. Here’s why: Charr.
Instead of writing another wall of text, I’ll let you do the research, as far as story-line, and let you figure it out.
Otherwise, please keep in mind, Guild Wars 2 is still just a game.
Well no one can say they didn’t hype up PAX now… they just hype train into HYPErdrive!
Pretty much. (laugh)
Yes, I saw that too! Definitely the Mursaat. Again, loving the Flameseeker Prophecies references.
More like they’re akin to the Risen by Zhaitan.
I’m still a little wary of calling it an ‘expansion’, even with that epic ending in game, as opposed to Living Story Part 3.
But we’ll see soon enough.
Still, well play, Anet. Well played.
I must say, this was very clever of ANet. I’m loving how some of the fan theories about the Sylvari and Caithe proved correct.
Oh . . . kitten . This is my favorite episode so far. Some of the posters’ theories were dead on.
Let the hype train run rampant now. . . .
I’m absolutely loving the Flameseeker references. Thank God the ‘ascension’ here isn’t the nightmare it was in Prophecies.
Am I the only one feeling that Heart of Thorns sounds very similar to Hearthstone?
LOL – God . . . the avalanche of attacks on the forums would be epic if Heart of Thorns ended up being a card or micro game instead.
They’re waiting for even juicier rewards to use them for. They are the kind of people who never buy anything because odds are it will be cheaper and/or there will be better offerings next week.
Yep. And this ended up being true many times already. So we expect it to be true in the future too.
Hm?
Do EU and NA have different daily resets in that case? Because as far as I remember we have never had a release that late.
I honestly have no idea. I was under the impression they release the updates under the same timetable. That’s been my experience anyway.
Well, let me ask you this: If an ANet rep, intentionally or otherwise, announced everything you needed to know, as a reporter, writing a future article, would your company still feel the need to spend $500 to send you to the conference to have said information repeated?
When you’ve gotten it already for free?
I’ll be shocked if they decided to say something, here, before they announce anything there . . . if history is any indication.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
We’ve seen recent patches happen an hour or two before the daily reset. But, honestly, whenever ANet decides.
We don’t know.
One thing is for sure: if ANet did whatever the loudest people on the forums wanted at any given time, the game would have been run into the ground long before now.
This is so true it should be brought down from Mount Sinai. And we’ve seen it happen before with other MMOs and their companies. Look at what happened to Warhammer Online.
It’s like Mythic learned nothing and was blatantly appeasing the loudest voices on their forums. It was so obvious it was sickening. And the community left in droves never to return.
Here’s an example: Posters complained that the healers were getting realm points for healing. This wasn’t fair because these realm point weren’t being shared with other players. So what happened? They nerfed it. Healers no longer got points for healing. Instead, you only got them from damaging.
You know what happened.
Healers quit healing or those players left. And then? Players were screaming for the healers to heal them. Where were the healers? It was mind-boggling. And that was only the beginning of the nerfing by forum whines.
Thank God ANet learned the lesson Mythic did not.
Most likely this will end up getting at least some type of comment from Gaile today. Like others have mentioned this type of hype would be slowed down at least if they knew it would lead to something like bundled season price.
I’ll bet the opposite. Don’t want to steal Pax’s announcement thunder and potentially lose ticket sales.
Promotion is promotion after all.
There will probably be a lingering merchant for another week or so. He or she should collect leftover socks and shirts. That’s normal given past experiences with seasonal events.
But, as Zypher said, don’t assume it.
Doesn’t make much sense to me. They’ve been calling this season “The Point of No Return” for all 8 episodes. It’s been on all their SS’s and in all their trailers… why would they call it something completely different when they bundle it?
Because, in the future, it might be possible to buy an entire season in a bundle. They’ve done this before with Bonus Mission Packs and the like in Guild Wars 1.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Bonus_Mission_Pack
Not saying they’ll do that for Season 2. But for Season 3? It might make sense to release all at once if the community is that starved for content.
But, to be fair, that’s pure speculation on my part.
Edit: Wouldn’t it be funny if this was all based around Rytlock going into the past, learning how to be a spiritualist, and then returning to teach new players how to be a spiritualist?
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
It’s a gem store collection sale. They might even include reselling Season One episodes. And yes, there will be new content and lands. Maybe even a new class (spiritualist) which you’ll have to buy through the gem store.
But it’s all Season Three material via the Living Story. Redoing a logo, to generate promotion of a product, is nothing new for a business. Look at Wendy’s. Plus, given recent events with certain companies stealing art, logos, and materials. . . .
Regardless, if people want to call what’s coming an expansion, more power to them. I’m already ready for the flames and tears on these forums when ArenaNet announces something quite different in the coming days.
Expectation and hype never seem to have a happy marriage in the MMO community.
But we’ll see soon enough.
Compared to other MMOs I’ve played, the progress has kept me interested even after two years. That’s about a year and half longer than the other games I’ve tried.
So, under that criteria, I’m satisfied.
At this point, they should just sell Mawdry II for a boatload of laurels.
Guess we’ll find out for sure tomorrow. . . .
Favorite: Ranger
Least: Warrior
Yep went laurels.
Is there a reason every thread lately devolves into, “Na na na! I don’t like you. You’re an idiot,” for some reason?
Let’s keep the personal issues and attack out of it please.
It has possibilities, but there would be issues as others have described . . . maturity and blame references not withstanding. Still, to be honest, I play and am playing Guild Wars with a ‘child-like’ character. Made him as short as possible with this thought in mind.
I suppose one could go the same route, with a little imagination here, depending on the race.
After all, aren’t Sylvari more or less adolescent anyway? You pretty much start that race after being born . . . again, more or less.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
And Arden, it’s Slayer of Issomir you were thinking of
Oh yeah.
Key farming not interesting?
Not to me.
Tomorrow, I’ll just take the 20 laurels. I don’t craft, and I’m not leveling an alt, so I have little use for the other rewards.
Hmm, I love getting them. Once I finish my 8th alt so I have all the classes I’ll use them on new characters to 1)Run through the personal story, 2)Map complete, and finally 3) Cash out the skill points for w/e.
At minimum you get skill points out of them, with a little more effort you get all the level up rewards.
Let’s be clear about that. For those of us who don’t have the time, or interest if we’re being honest, to play multiple alts, the tomes of knowledge serve little purpose.
Even the skill points are moot given that criteria.
I have almost 200 scrolls of knowledge as well. Once the monthly achievements, for skill points, disappeared . . . so did my need to hoard and use these items. Like the tomes, the scrolls just occupy a space for the time when they will matter again.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Probably until the patch. But there’ll be a warning, next to the item, when they’re about to disappear. Give or take a few days.
Not really. All they’re doing for now is taking a bank slot.
I was gonna say Lava, but I can’t deny the advantage the Watchwork one gives as the others described.
Definitely Watchwork.
Edit: It was so good, I just bought it myself. Between edits, I got 12 sprockets. That’s 37 silver and some change. Not bad for just mining copper nodes.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
1. A new class or classes, but no new races.
2. Overhaul, again, of the leveling system.
3. Revamp of the dailies and rewards.
4. Death of the Pale Tree and a New Pale Tree (or leader) taking her place. (Egg hint)
5. Crafting of Legendaries or similar weapons.
6. Mordy dies, but causes environmental changes to the world.
7. Jormag storyline emerges toward the end of the year.
Being the last man standing in a long-term fight . . . and winning it.
What rewards would you like to suggest, Sky?
Pretty much what Crouze said. Don’t know why people are twisting in the wind over something that hasn’t even been said yet. Strange days.
Not really keen on this idea. If players desire to be ‘known’, there are other ways of going about it. Again, maybe that’s just me, but this feels more like an ego-stroke than anything.
LFG pretty much covers the rest.
Edit: Besides, aren’t you considered a ‘racial hero’ with your faction once you at least kill Zhaitan anyway? Heck, you’re called the Hero of Shaemore or the Defeater of Whatever-that-Worm’s Name is with Norn, right off the bat.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
I don’t see it being an issue. For example, warriors have the swift swinging sword dash. But it’s such a minor speed increase it’s pretty moot.
The damage, as far as warrior, is better with Ogre if they are a power build.
I deleted my level 20 spirit spammer in Guild Wars 1.
