We won’t know for sure until Saturday. All we have, right now, is speculation. But we’ll know soon enough.
Let me keep out the Hounds of Balthazar permanently, and I’ll never remove it from my action bar. Heck, let me just keep out one permanently and I’ll be happy.
Shoot, change it to affect the pet instead into a super-powered nut permanently and we’ll really be talking.
Um . . . because if those new players don’t own the original game, what the point of buying the original game’s expansion?
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
so tell me what its the point by making 75% off in short period of time??? for me anet get this promotion to get more players. so more players have more chance to spend on TP.
because now Gw2 lost lot of players.
Um . . . to entice new players to try the game before the ‘expansion’ comes out? It’s not like they’re selling the game at that discount to entice old players back. Since, you know, they already own the game.
. . .
Is this a trick question?
You know, a lot of us have already stopped playing. Pretty much my entire guild did. We’re not gonna make “I quit” posts but if it is not an expansion, this will be the last chance GW2 would have had to get its veterans back.
That’s doesn’t mean you, and those like you, won’t rage on the forums regardless. I mean, you’re still making commentary here . . . right?
Fine. It won’t be “I quit!” But “I already quit!” Which is, naturally, much better.
Cause, you know, you kind of just did that.

I definitely miss dyes from the loot table. They could just decrease the times you might get them, as Piano Man suggested, especially from plants, but to remove them this way was a bad idea.
They should be returned to the loot table.
Definitely not having this issue. Might be time to report it on your end. Sorry.
I just some gems, no problem. What error are you getting exactly?
Guess we’ll all find out this Saturday.
This is a known bug. Log completely out. And then log back in. This should fix the problem. If not, ticket time.
Personally, I like the increased population of certain events. But I sorely miss my old community and the familiar faces. The trade-off wasn’t worth it.
The only lag I’ve experienced, over the last week or so, has been on the forums. . . .
Neither.
Living Story is not meant as an expansion nor a gap filler. It’s actually an extension of your personal, and continued, story.
It’s also supposed to give updated content that keeps players interested. Unlike other MMOs, where the endgame doesn’t exist, is raiding for gear, or strange things like Hutt Ball, the endgame is plot progression, achievement hunting for titles, gears, and minis, and exploration of new zones as they are released.
Living Story is kind of like an episodic television show where you are the main character.
Thus the wording of ‘Seasons’ in ArenaNet’s vocabulary.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
If they made it something akin to what WoW did, rare cards that gave you nice stuff and fluff, then yes I would buy it on the off chance of getting something.
RL RNG 4teh1111!
Otherwise, no. I would not play or buy it if it’s just a card game.
It’s going to be a new class or classes with new personal stories and a few new zones to support those new classes and personal stories. Something that will link with the Living Story. It’ll involve Rytlock and the Dragon Egg.
Some new traits, skills, skill points, vistas, etc. Maybe even some new gear and a new type of ‘trait’ like agony or something along those lines.
All downloadable.
It will not be an ‘expansion’ in the traditional sense, and then the flames will ignite the forums . . . hardcore.
Players will eat through this content in less than a week. And then the flames will become an inferno.
Torches and pitchforks, I’m guessing. Oh. And waves and waves of people threatening to quit, but still trolling the forums.
And after the dust settles?
New predictions of an expansion coming soon.
I’m still having fun after two years. The Living Story updates keep me interested. Plus, if you’re an achievement hunter, there’s always a new carrot to chase.
Interesting idea. I would probably stay if such rewards were offered every 25%. Right now, there’s not much incentive to stay after breach, vinewrath, and grabbing the maze chest.
(laugh) Yep, pretty much, Neural. Pretty much.
I’m still hopeful the puppy will return next year as something we can buy with cobs. There’s no way I’m opening 100K trick or treat bags on the off chance it’ll provide the mini.
Besides, if the mini is still on the loot table, it probably means it’ll still be on the loot table for next year’s bags too. We can get all frustrated again next year.
Fun!
@Ardenwolfe if everyone just went to another map and didnt put in the effort to progress maps, there would be no maps in the first place. Someone has to do the work from the beginning you suggestion to move maps doesnt really work if everyone follows it.
Also the metal detector analogy doesn’t really fit. If you had to spend 1 hr setup before you could metal detect each time, and kids kept arriving spoiling it after you had spent that hour, I bet you would be more annoyed and alot less willing to just go somewhere else.
Not every map is taken over by chest farmers. So, yes, it does work because . . . well . . . it is working as I type this.
The analogy wasn’t mine, but it does fit too. I’ve spend more than an hour in any given location, found some incredible stuff, and then got chased off. In fact, I’ve had parents actually drop their kids off near me, like I was some babysitter, while the parents did their own thing.
Oh yes, I get annoyed. But I’m also quite reasonable. I go to another location. And later in the week or so, I’ll return to that old location.
The rewards will still be waiting for me.
Ironically, I metal detect. And I do my very best to go to areas where no one is around. I bring my dogs. Three or four of them. But, almost without fail, someone, usually someone curious, shows up. I could be in an area, and have been, with eight ball fields . . . and yet a guy or two will decide to play in the one I’m in.
Every freakin’ time.
While I never go to an area where people are playing or gathered already, I more often than not find myself leaving the area if too many people also show up suddenly.
It isn’t worth the aggravation. So, just like in game, I go to another area to enjoy myself without the distraction of rubberneckers or those eager to call the police because they don’t understand what I’m doing.
Again, that just makes sense.
On a side note, I’ve made quite a few friends with the cops who come to investigate and ask if I’ve found anything interesting before they leave me in peace.
Never fear. Hero-Tron is on the job!
This thread, specifically some of the responses, also gives pretty good examples of why I don’t PvP.
Sorry Ardenwolfe but what??
You think its acceptable for this player to have his 1 hr effort wiped and have to spend another hour gaining it all back because chest farmers cant be considerate?OP im totally on your side. Its not a reporting issue, they aren’t technically doing anything wrong, but they are being inconsiderate kittens and I think its a shame they are happy to ruin peoples time and effort and not care.
If they just stuck to 0% maps, which are easier to get into anyway, then both playstyles could continue happily without getting in each others way.
Again, if you know you’re going to lose an hour of your time on a video game, just go to another map close to completion. It seems silly to stick around, wasting your time and effort, if you feel your effort will be pointless.
You don’t have to ‘gain it all back’. Just use LFG to find a suitable map more to your liking. Seems smarter to do that than complain on the forums much less wasting your time knowing the end result.
Again, maybe that’s just me.
This is a big reason I haven’t leveled another character. Redoing the entire map isn’t that appealing to me. Especially since some of those areas include WvW.
Did it once. Never again, thank you.
I’m confused about this as well. I don’t chest farm myself, but you’re saying you feel the chest farming zerg is bad because they didn’t rez people and were lead by or had a ANet representative among them?
So . . . this is bad because their farming will lead to a breach fail and you wasted your time because they didn’t switch maps?
May I ask a question? If you felt they were doing this, and would cause you to fail no matter what, why didn’t you switch maps?
I’m not saying that your time isn’t valuable, or that you shouldn’t complain should you feel the right, but wouldn’t it have been easier to just jump to another breach map yourself?
One hour lost, in a video game, is something of small potatoes in the larger scheme of things to me.
But that’s just my humble opinion.
I don’t have any issues with the game mode itself. My main issue is how the other players behave in a PvP scenario.
WvW, you don’t get to hear the other side.
PvE, it’s cooperative.
This.
I danced, once, in front of that statue. It didn’t end well. . . .
What’s that saying about two wrongs not making a right?
Um . . . as a reward from the chest after killing the vine. Yes, you can get another box outside of the achievement. That’s kind of what this thread is about. Please don’t tell me it’s impossible when I now have two coats in my achievement list when I never bought one in the first place.
Tonight, I got my first coat box. Edit: As a random award from the chest. Sheesh. Didn’t think I needed to clarify that given the thread’s topic. . . .
I think I’ve done five vine runs. One was a failure, so four actually as far as getting the box. RNG is funny like that.

Ayrilana, I was getting maybe three pieces of mithril ore. Just one swing before it dissolved in one extreme case.
Oh! Well, that explains it, Khisanth. Didn’t know that change. Was wondering. Thanks for the explanation.
Beta testing and very much liked what I experienced and saw.
Maybe this is just me, but I’ve noticed since the last update, that the rich mining nodes, in any location, appear to be giving less materials. Maybe one or two complete cycles of the mining animation.
It used to give around three to five cycles of this animation.
For example, in Silverwastes, I mined a ‘Rich Mithril’ node, and it only gave ONE cycle of animation . . . as if it were a normal node.
Is this a bug or something updated recently?
Seventy vine runs? Already? Well, regardless, that doesn’t bode well for me. Still, last night, someone got one after we killed the vine.
RNG can be fickle.
I am guessing that the LS will take us up to the point where Mordremoth is ready to die. At that point the expansion will cover the preparations for that battle in much the same way Orr served as the staging area for Zhatain. It will give us 3-4 maps and will be similar to what we seen in Orr with the exception that the minions will be plant based. The following living story will then pick up on another Elder dragon and start all over again.
Ugh . . . I hope that’s not the case at all.
Oh crap. You know what the means. It means a whole bunch of new minis to chase come the announcement next week.
My OCD can’t handle it. I just finished Mini Set 3 a few weeks ago. . . .
Thanks for letting us know though.
After the last batch of new, and elite, skills, I’m not crazy about any. But I will take more points to add more of the current traits to my build.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Do people not read the OP? Yeah I agree, but it was stated in the OP. Also HI ARDENWOLFE
Um . . . I’m agreeing with your point. . . .
I thought you wanted this to be discussed in a healthy manner. Your responses, so far, aren’t exactly doing the same. . . .
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
It’s unlikely though given Guild Wars’ history with the level cap. But, yes, it’s something people are used to seeing when they think an expansion pack is coming.
Though, I did read a suggestion that we could get an increase of traits to use.
That would be awesome . . . if in danger of being overpowered.
Oh no you didn’t!
Yes. The perceived lack of content from the living story was due to how it’s split up across a plethora of patches over the past two years. Add in some breaks and the fact that season 1 was mostly temporary makes it appear to be even less. Undoubtedly any content will appear small when rushed through as well.
A lot of it has to do with how you approach the content. My initial suggestion to people who complain about a lack of content is to hold off and play an entire season in one go as if it were an expansion. This will remove the distortion caused by how it’s divided up and the various breaks for the all important WvW seasons and the like.
That’s actually a reasonable and insightful observation. +1.
Oh I’m not saying bug-free, by any stretch of the imagination, but overall ANet has done a really good job over the past year releasing content that has been pretty smooth. Especially considering my other MMO experiences.
But I do remember that awful experience with the Karka invasion and its followup.
As far as happiness with the community, I suppose that can be true. But, again from my experiences, I’ve not really seen any poster be happy with everything that’s come out. Even the so-called ‘white knights’ or advocates.
Still, again, I will say I’m impressed with ANet’s ability to release content, even in small doses, over the year for free that keeps the general population eager for more.
To me, that’s a pretty good sign of success.
Edit:
I have neither the time nor inclination to tip-toe around the eggshell egos of the illogical.
I love that. Signature-worthy. And so, so true.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Those players will never be happy. At least on a forum. Really don’t know why that is, but expansion or no, someone’s gonna complain.
I wouldn’t go as far as saying an expansion, or whatever’s coming, as ‘useless’, but I will say it won’t satisfy certain people no matter what.
Forums often turn into the customer service complaint center, more often than not.
(laugh) Good one, Windu.
could you please stop having agressive tone towards other people?
My eyes are bleeding from CAPS LOCK and sentences like this: “you are still just a guy ordering pizza at a burger place and yelling at everyone who tells you to go down the road to Pizza Hut”
It’s not polite really
Given you’re previous posting about me, in this thread, I find this a more than a little ironic. But far be it from me to point that out. I’m sure a moderator will address it instead.
Regardless, I don’t believe anyone would dislike an ‘expansion’ or whatever it may be called in the future. But, still, we’ll see what the future hold as far as ANet’s intent and direction.
But, as always, I’m doubtful about a ‘boxed’ expansion given their previous statements.
(edited by Ardenwolfe.8590)
Bad analogy.
You didnt make a generic statement such as, “hey stupid,” you gave specific direction to your comment.
Sure enough. I said, “Some people are never happy.” And then. . . .
Yes, you did. When said the proof is in the above postings.
If you didn’t mean every above posting after your last comment, then you should have been more specific. Avoids misunderstandings.
In a room full of people, I yell out, “Hey, stupid!” And you’re the only one who turns around. Did I call you stupid or did just do that yourself?
Think about it.
Now, please, let’s stay on topic.
