Having the option to insta detonating the turret over another field is good, IMO. They should keep the “wait a little” focus. It creates more alternatives, and a more skilled gameplay.

IMO being super careful is a good way to make mechanics that need skill. I’m not saying I like the turret changes… but I like “super careful” challenges.

The problem is… I’m not sure most internet connections would really allow to be that careful with timing.

Yeah, pretty much. And its not just turning into just another clone, mounts simply don’t FIT in this game from a mechanical stand point.

What mechanical points are you referring to? Waypoints?

Waypoints, the Swiftness buff (and all the skills, traits, masteries, consumables, and runes affected by said buff), Asura Gates, Nuchok Wallows, Thermal Propulsion, etc. ect. ect.

“But it’ll only be in the Xpack maps!” Yeah, they said that about gliding too.

Swiftness is a combat buff, and good for short out-of-combat sprints – still useful even when we do have mounts. Speed Boost mushrooms aren’t on every map. Wallows and Thermal Propulsion are for fast transit across maps far faster than even mounts could ever be. Asura gates are for inter-map travel, not intra-map travel. Waypoints have been lacking ever since Season 2.

The “Maintain 100% swiftness on something other than Daredevil or Druid” rotations are simply an annoyance to tolerate getting from Point A to Point B, and will not be missed.

Swiftness is NOT a combat buff. Is a general buff, who some of us value OVER combat options. It is part of an intended design which adds oportunity cost to build options, making possible to create exploration builds separated from combat ones, therefore making the game more interesting, adding more diversity and playstyles to the game.

That “annoyance” is a great part of what make exploration fun and challenging.
Would you say “DPS rotations are simply an annoyance to tolerate getting from living mob to dead mob.” Of course not.

If Anet somehow (through speedy mounts, proliferation of speed mushrooms, or even due to wp excess), someday made swiftness builds obsolete, the game would lose a lot of what makes it good in the first place.

Thanks for fixes (legendary armor)

Legendary Armor

Medium and light armor now has fully covered asura toes, in and out of combat.
Fixed an issue with chest-piece sizing on asura and sylvari females.
Fixed an issue that allowed legendary armor to be salvageable.
Fixed an issue with light female armor for humans and sylvari in which portions of the back of the chest piece would clip.
Fixed an issue that caused the tip of the light-armor skirt to clip with the ground.
Fixed a clipping issue with medium armor and charr tails.
Fixed an issue in which players who unlocked a different class of armor for Refined Envoy than they did for Experimental would not receive the associated Experimental skins.
Fixed an issue with the Bobblehead Tonic and Bobblehead Laboratory when legendary armor is equipped.
Fixed an issue in which precursor recipes that became available after the first legendary armor set was obtained would not be account bound.
Reduced the distance between the left shoulder piece and the player model on medium armor.
Fixed an issue in which darker dyes would appear washed out and harder to see on legendary heavy armor.
Fixed recipe text on the pop-ups for Gift of Dedication, Gift of Prowess, and Gift of Prosperity.
Fixed an issue in which having multiple chronomancers generating clones simultaneously in an instance would cause a drop in performance.
Fixed an issue in which the effect from the legendary hammer Juggernaut was not properly applied to legendary armor.

I’m incredibly grateful, and at the same time, sadder than ever.

They DID fixed Asura toes clipping! They CAN do it! And FAST! This is amazing!!!

Yet most of the other boots in the game still clips! And now I’ll have to raid if I wan’t another decen pair of boots…

Thanks for the fixing… please fix the rest too. Please.

Well they ALMOST solved the problem of detonating before overcharging but I can still manage to detonate before the overcharge kicks in when I spam the healing button
if anyone knows how to inform the devs about this that would be cool because now is the time that most of such issues will be resolved (patches)

But they weren’t solving that. They were solving the fact that people only used the toolbelt skill. Aka, this change is for raiders that use rifle turret.

Typical D&D Dragons bore me to death. GW2 Dragons are closer to Lovecraftian ancient gods, which I like much more.

I would HATE for GW2 to go that overused, maniqueistic, excedingly unimaginative way. Really, please don’t do it. Balthazar gimmicks are already bad enough.

For me FT is that kit. When I want to do some effortless PVE farming, load up the FT build and semi afk my way to victory.

While the FT can be very lazy if you just 111, it also requires a lot of things nades don’t, if you want to play it well: Knowing how to correctly plant Napalm in the floor so more mobs got caught in the burn, when and to which direction use air blast so your group get the most from the CC, where to put yourself so Flame Blast crosses the most foes and explode causing the more damage, where and what to combo with the blast, etc. You can use it smartly to attack through obstacles, but being medium range means to get close to foes, so you need to be moving all the time.

All the 5 grenades are the same attack, no positioning needed, no real CC, no interesting animations. In the end, Nades are nothing but damage. Best strategy is to find a good protected position and just attack from afar, whitout even moving, while the rest of the group holds the mobs in position.

For newbies: How hard is raiding?

I’ve been raiding for little over a month. I find myself struggle at tier 2 fractals. So, there you go. I am an avergae guy.

As of now, I’ve killed every boss except Xera. I got wiped more than 50 times at Vale Guardian until I got the first raid boss kill.

I do not believe raiding needs EASY MODE. It is designed to be hard, thereby more rewarding. My only issues were accessibility. I found it very difficult spotting training groups.

There are indeed a lot of players willing to learn. However, there are only a few commanders willing to teach at the sacrifice of their own time and resources. They don’t get anything in return. I hope Anet can find a way to encourage more train runs by rewarding those friendly commanders. They are truly worthy of the raiding community.

What do you guys think about implementing in-game squad voice chat? This can be a huge change to WvW, Raids, World Bosses, etc.

How much uninterrupted time do you need for each attempt? How did you finally got into a group?

Legendary Armor: Feedback [merged]

People keep saying raids require skill. I think it must be true… However, skill is NOT what defines raid difficulty.

- People whitout skill can still be carried. The mere fact that there is “selling” of raid completion is proof of this.

- Very skilled people are still unable to raid because factors not related to skill: access to 10 man groups; availability of long, uninterrupted, scheduled and frequent time periods for raiding; language and communication options; etc. Lots of skilled people are not being rewarded.

There goes the “reward for the skilled”. Change it for “reward for people with lots of time to play” and I’ll believe it.

Will we ever going to see Gear Progression?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Ardid.7203

Ardid.7203

IMO the raid’s entry level is too high, mostly due to needing people and time in quantities not easily affordable to everyone. Maybe they also require a lot of skill, but I don’t know. I have never been able to experiment with a group decent enough to really get into the “get better” level.

All the tries I’ve done consist of about 40 minutes of organization, profession & gear filtering, and specting “one more” to show; then 15 minutes of wipes; then someone goes away; then the cycle begins again. Then I have to go too, because it simply impossible to me to stay more than 1 hour and half totally dedicated to the game, due to real life reasons.

That being said, I don’t think the Raids or even the new Legendary Armor counts as real “Gear Progression”. They are somehow alike, but not even close to what other MMOs do with levels and power creep.

Even being inaccesible content for many, GW2 raids aren’t that evil.

The medium set, ONLY when in fight stance, DOES have 2 extra toe extensions. AFAIK, they only cover the toes from a proper frontal angle, and don’t work at all when looking the toon from behind.

That’s the reason the boots seems ok in the blog photo, but clips in game.

but for how long who knows till the new pack comes out with mounts and so forth .

Out of curiosity, who at ANET gave you that fact?

I don’t know if MO acknoledged the veracity of the leaks, but in the last AMA they said the next episode will be the last one for this season, then the new expansion will be released within a similar schedule as the LS episodes, and Season 4 will begin inmediately after, also in the same cadence of 2-3 months.

Make some math, and you’ll see they have to be really close to a finished product by now. (I doubt they would risk another “unfinished” Xpac).

Considering Anet is so close to the new announcement, then looking at the way the leaks cleanly connect, and then examining the beautiful, detailed and very finished art in the last one, we can suppose the leaks must be true. I doubt someone could make a hoax so detailed and well timed just to… what? Made fun of people?

AFAIK needs are tied to things and people. They aren’t floating in the nothing. I need air to survive, and I need company to not feel alone. I also need money to buy groceries, and I need a little plastic shovel to clean my cat’s litterbox.

I could question the “we” in Blaeys declaration. But IMO, the “need” requires more elaboration to criticize. IMO Blaeys need for more information about the oficial standing Anet has about Guild Missions is legitimate. He needs it to quiet an uncertainity that bothers him(her?). I need it too: I need to know if Anet will ever work on Guild Missions again, to feel better, to placate the doubt. Does all this banter about the use of words has any real value? IMO, no, it doesn’t. Blaeys still needs to know.

And do so I. We (more than one people) still need (to feel better and to make choices in our guilds) to know what Anet is going to do about the very stale condition of Guild Missions. Do anyone here have an opinion on the topic?
