It’s been like this for a LONG time already; I guess we’ll just have to live with it.
Since Sept feature patch if i remember correctly. But yea guess we need to live with it.
Far longer than that. Over a year. It’s never been fixed or even said it’s being looked into.
It’s a good change and I hope it’s kept after this test phase
on my server we managed to take half the map while ournumbered just because the other 2 servers lack of coordination.
People complaining only need to start using some tactics instead of Ktrain around the maps, is it difficult for you to find the zerg ? get better at scouting, one thing I noticed there are a lot of people sitting on camps/towers/keeps waiting to spot the enemy… that’s just ridiculous.
You know what happened on reset? I babysat Hills for upwards of 5 hours to get it waypointed and fortified, and I was the only scout in it. A large guild group came in, didn’t flip any camps, and build 5 guild catas. If I hadn’t been babysitting, they would have taken the keep. They managed to get both outer and inner walls down before we were able to wipe them. They tried this twice. If I had just been running around and scouting, they would have taken the keep before we ever knew it was being attacked. Luckily, I was there, and was able to call for reinforcements. It was boring as hell, completely unrewarding, but I knew it was important and made the choice to do it. I was the White Swords. Think about that for a moment.
I managed to scout around hills killing other scouts, killing and escorting dolies, flipping some camps and calling everytime enemy groups where going to hills (they try it 3/4 times), had a lot of fun and we managed to keep it safe, but you can choose to sit in an empty keep, to each theyr own
You’re still not listening. If I had been running around, the keep would have been gone. It was only saved because I was literally right there when the guild group ran up and tossed all those cats, walls were still paper, and I had to call for reinforcements immediately and even then they still managed to get both outer and inner walls down. We got lucky that people showed up in time to fight and wipe them. With waypoints, it’s definitely better, and the upgrade path that we use in all our keeps now is cannons → mortars → waypoint because it is the easiest way to be alerted to when something is happening. We work on walls and doors afterwards when we can.
I’m glad that you didn’t have to experience what I did. If what happened at our Hills happened at yours, you wouldn’t have had a Hills anymore. Truth.

If you’ve been logging in since the daily change went live on Tuesday, you will get a bag of 10 laurels at reset tomorrow.
This will get worse with tomes for dailies.
They fixed Tomes a long time ago.
No, the larger server usually doesn’t have to make the tradeoff because they have enough players to be able to both scout and zerg. The weaker servers are the ones who have to decide between scouting and zerging, neither of which will be effective against the larger server. Obviously, the larger server can’t hold everything, but they can spare enough people to hold enough structures that they retain very high PPT.
Why is it so hard to understand that the strongest server in a match up usually hold more objectives, so it has a bigger territory to scout.
Every server has to make that trade off and things balanced themselves quite nicely at the moment. As soon as a server over extend, they lack the scouts/population to protect everything and things start to flip.
White swords made it way more imbalanced. The strongest server could simply watch the map for swords and zerg defend everything. The weaker server had no chance to recap anything unless the strongest server let them because they were bored and wanted to karma train.
Removing the white swords was a much needed change and I hope Anet keep it.
I disagree with every point you make in these threads as my experience has been entirely the opposite. You’ve posted in every single one defending the change. Why? When this “event” ends I hope they kill the no white swords change, nuke it from orbit, burn it with fire, and launch it into the sun. It’s terrible, and I pray they revert the change and never look back.
I do want PPK to stay. That creates a pretty interesting dynamic that I’ve been enjoying. A different way to gain points than simple PPT/holding objectives is a welcome change.
That has not been my experience in Tier 5 whatsoever. You also seem to be have a rather unique point of view from the lower tiers; most dislike the change immensely.
I came here cause i saw the name of topic and joined as always.
But wcho is leading this choo choo?
I laik ppk. i dunno why u cry so much of your towers? Bad idea? Yes bad idea, but why you only cry on a 1 month event where u can forget about upgrades mostly and just staby stab each other?
If we dont say anything about this bad idea, even though its just 1 month, Anet might think we like it, which is not the case.
That is the reason why we “cry”.
hm…If u say something – OK.
If u say something constructive – GREAT.But alot of people, really CRYYYY!!
Y it’s a bit harder to roam, but white swords was never main way to find roamers. (to ARK_)
And people started “crying” after first day. For real?
I see still some people taking sm on first reset for big points.
Still people don’t know how to mesemr sweep properly some objectives.
etc
etc
etc
game is 2 years old and they don’t know this things but making suggestions on white swords removel after few days.
Some good posts where written though aswell, for one or another side.
for myselfe i can’t say for sure yet if i want swords back or not, but i think I would like to have PPK to stay in game with some pure statistics.
That’s downright insulting, attacks people ad hominem, and nobody’s “crying” so please act in good faith or I’ll report your posts for insults. You can enjoy your 4 day forum suspension. I have been playing the game for 2 years, so I know WvW in and out and have seen the removal of orbs, addition of ruins, and many other things that have been done to the game since its release. I feel I am fully qualified to post my opinions and observations of the white swords change, and even if I hadn’t played WvW for 2 years I still think many of those people have valid opinions and should be allowed to be heard without being told they’re “crying” about it.
I like PPK, but yes, I’d like to see a breakdown of how many points were earned via PPK and how many were earned via PPT. I actually think that PPK would go up with white swords back in the game, which could be really interesting. Keep it civil bro, don’t attack people, and let’s continue the discussion like adults.
You’re also SoS, which is Tier 2 and borderline Tier 1. Thing about how this affects servers on lower tiers with smaller populations.
I’m amazed at how many people are against this change. I think it would be amazing. Let me briefly explain why.
1. People always adapt to the situation and find the most effective way to win.The most effective way to win with such a change would no longer be one giant blob. Such a force couldn’t detect all the small structures that were being taken and they would have to split up into many smaller groups. I like this change. I’ve always hated blobbing and I always will.
2. Maps shouldn’t tell so much information in the first place. I’ve always been a fan of realism in games as much as possible. Since when could medieval commanders pull a map out of their back pocket and find all of their structures that were being invaded?
3. No matter what people say, I’m firmly convinced that scouting will become much more widespread. We already have dozens and dozens of roamers running around with nothing to do. What if an environment for such roamers existed? What if they could actually contribute to the team while having fun? (I realize they can contribute somewhat at the moment, but with such an update they’d have a much more critical role to play in my opinion.)
4. Small roaming groups would be much more effective. When a five man team can cap a tower without even being noticed, smaller servers will be much more effective. I realize this could be a problem with upgrades and such, but I’ll address that in point 5.
5. The entire dynamic of WvW will experience a massive and desperately needed change. Take a look at the full picture. Stop thinking in terms of, “I can’t do this anymore” or, “we won’t have that anymore.” Take a look at everything in perspective. Is this an overall change for the best?
People have objected to upgrades. “Why would anyone spend money if the tower can get flipped so easily?” Well what if the devs change this as well? What if upgrades change from what they are now. What if we completely forget all the “methods” we have learned and experience WvW as something completely new?
It seems to me that every objection to the removal of white swords is founded on no more than unwillingness to change, or relearn anything. No offense to you, op, but the objections you listed are from a single commander’s perspective over a massive blob. What if blobs get retired? What if there have to be many commanders on the map from now on?
In conclusion, I’ll say this: Think carefully everyone. You may not agree with me, but I would be somewhat glad if you didn’t. Think for yourself. Stop going with the flow of what everyone else says. Try to picture this change in an entirely new light. What if this is changing the overall structure of WvW for the better? Are we going to stubbornly reject it and stick with the same stale structure that’s been complained about for far too long?
1. Yes, people do adapt. Adapting to a bad change doesn’t make adapting a good thing.
2. That’s your opinion.
3. Scouts have nearly evaporated. People don’t want to squat keeps, towers, camps, for hours and hours and wait for something to happen. Roamers (I am a roamer, btw) have found less and less fights because people don’t respond to an objective under attack if they don’t know it’s being attacked. People also don’t like to run around and do nothing and pray they accidentally find a fight or a group trying to take something. That has been my experience and many others on my server (and others, if you read these threads some more), and less fights = less fun.
4. Sure, they’re effective at taking objectives that aren’t being actively scouted. But that’s a game of PvDoor, where all they do is take something and there is no fight for it. Swords drew people to things that were under attack, and that led to fights. If roamers want to cap stuff with no resistance whatsoever, then yes, this is a good change. If they’d rather fight for what they take, then they suffer from it.
5. I have, and no, and no. And no.
Thank you for giving such a well thought out response. It’s great to see that you’re thinking for yourself.
I added a small edit to my comment. Might want to read that before you get snarky with me. I am basing my opinion on my own experiences and those that I run with as well as people I’ve spoken with on other servers. In the last matchup I actually added a few roamers I came across to my contacts to whisper them and ask if they wanted to roll around in a map somewhere and play hide and seek. That’s how desperate we were to get fights. I admit, the hide and seek was a little fun, but when you’re whispering people from another server to ask “hey, uhm, I’ve been running around your BL for the last half hour and I can’t find anyone to fight, you wanna play a game of catch me if you can?” I think that there is something seriously wrong there.
That level up knockback can be super funny and also frustrating in wvw. I remember when people would use level up tomes to knockback and get a full heal.
Yeah the Tomes debacle was hilarious. You could also get right back up from being downed with full health and knock the crap out of anyone near you.

Let’s also not forget that scouting is the most thankless, least rewarding, and (IMO) boring thing in WvW to do. Especially now that fights have dwindled due to the change. Someone actually paid me 5g to scout Hills for 3 hours while it waypointed and fortified earlier tonight. I was the only person in the keep. That’s what this has become.
(edited by Ark Bladesteele.2943)
Because we can’t find any fights! There’s nothing to stabby stab. I flipped an entire BL of camps, north camp included, and nobody showed up for a fight.
Meaning there was no one on the map, hence it’s normal you didn’t find anyone to fight. Whitesword are not the issue here.
It was Darkhaven BL, the server that beat us by 40k, and outnumbered us. I had the outmanned buff the entire time I was in there. I hardly believe there was nobody on the map. And yes, white swords often alerted people that things were under attack, so they would move to intercept. It is an issue. It does change things.
I came here cause i saw the name of topic and joined as always.

When white swords were around, people would see them on a map and run to try and intercept them (even on camps, so that even if they couldn’t save the camp they could kill the person(s) who had flipped it) but now, I flip a camp and I’m long gone before anyone can get to the camp and try to fight me. Should I just wait at the flipped camp for people to show up? How is that fun? The roaming fights have dwindled and it’s just become a PvD or PvCamp heaven. The only time I get into a fight now is if someone accidentally runs into me while I’m roaming and that, my friend, is sad.
That “Top Men” sounded really creepy
In the context of the movie, it was used to handwave Indy away, that there really was nobody working looking into it and they just shoved the thing in a box in a warehouse.
If you read what the current and ex-employees on glassdoor.com write, you are most likely right on the money. Go ahead and read it. I’ll wait.
that site looks like having the search function programed by anet. it finds nothing whatever I type
Did you try google? Simply googling “glassdoor.com arenanet” without the quotes gave it to me on the first result.
They have Top Men working on it.
Top.
Men.
Wow, this was from a month ago? It’s incredibly prescient. I swore I was reading something from today or yesterday, because that is exactly how everything turned out.
Thank you, yeah I don’t know why Anet didn’t use the “Adopt-A-Dev” program to consult players like myself so that they could have some foresight on how things affect their game-mode since they lack their own personnel to do so compared to the other two game modes.
I don’t know either, we had an adopt-a-dev in our guild during the tourney, Melnetta, and I can sure as hell tell you that “remove white swords” was not a single one of our suggestions. It never even occurred to us. We had other suggestions, and she did come to us at the end of the tourney and tell us she had a sit-down luncheon with the other adopt-a-devs to discuss their experiences and suggestions. So either she lacked seniority, just got ignored, or was outvoted by people with ideas like PPK and “remove white swords.” She was really nice, and I understand if she couldn’t make any of our suggestions happen, but it still sucks that just these 2 changes that really nobody wanted (except maybe PPK, that doesn’t seem like the worst idea) actually ended up in the game.
Wow, this was from a month ago? It’s incredibly prescient. I swore I was reading something from today or yesterday, because that is exactly how everything turned out.
I like it. I would like the option to have it only choose from my permanent finishers if I have it enabled, though, because sometimes I like to hold on to my limited ones.
Thanks, I actually do want both an endless finisher and the rebreather, so I guess I’ll be repeating that track a couple times
. I’m perfectly fine with that, because there are other rewards along the track, and this one will only be around for a limited time.
But I guarantee it wont be the last exotic rebreather. Its just the first for now.
Agreed, but how many are going to have additional FX like the ice crystals? They haven’t exactly shown much interest in breathers in the past, so this is a fairly unique opportunity.
(edited by Ark Bladesteele.2943)
Is the only non-RNG way to get this from the PvP reward track? Is it account-bound? It’s not often that we get new breathers in the game, and this is the only one with a unique effect on it. It’s actually the only thing I care about getting from this event. I’m just curious about the best way to obtain one.
This is just a trial period. Rather than complain about it, either try to find strategies to promote the fights you want, or take a short break.
If feedback is generally negative, they will revert the situation. However, it hasn’t even been 1 week so far. People aren’t even using optimal strats, just trying to apply the same strategies as before and getting frustrated when it doesn’t work. Try something else while the rules are different.
Karma train it is!
Anet wont admit they made a stupid mistake. This is an illthought out gimmick plain and simple. It came from the Adopt a dev program during the last season where dev’s joined some guilds to play wvw. Except they didnt bother going to any lower tiers to see how their ignorance and lack of attention really affect wvw. Therefore this stupid change will have less of an effect on higher tiers, and more damage to lower tiers. Working as intended.
Actually, if you read the adopt-a-dev thread, there were devs on servers of all tiers. Our server was bottom T5 NA at the start of the tourney, and we had a dev in our guild: Melnetta. She saw the kinds of things we experienced during the tourney (note: we didn’t win once) and often asked how we deal with such overwhelming numbers and being defeated repeatedly. We didn’t really have any good answer for her, but it certainly wasn’t “It’s because of those darn white swords! If they got rid of them we would win more!”
She came on to tell us at the end of the tourney that all the adopt-a-devs had a luncheon to discuss their experiences and what they thought could be improved. Sadly, it looks like the devs who stacked Gold league won out on that discussion, because after having played with Melnetta for a month I absolutely know she wouldn’t have suggested or agreed with the white sword removal.
As I said before, this benefits 5, maybe 6 servers, out of 24 (NA) and 26 (EU). That is not the majority, and the adopt-a-devs who suggested it must have either had seniority or more of them simply played on higher-tiered servers. The only people who you see posting in the threads about white swords that are saying they don’t see much difference are those from high tier servers. The rest of us, well, we see a difference. And the difference sucks. This test is a failure, the event should be ended, white swords restored (although I might be fine with PPK, it doesn’t seem to matter much when all you’re fighting are doors but could have an impact if white swords were put back in) and nobody should ever speak of this crap again.
Furthermore, I request that a dev start a thread here and start asking for official feedback. We’ve got half a dozen threads on this just on the first page and not a single red post. How can you find out if your test is a success if you don’t interact with us in the same way that Michael Henninger, the Game Support Lead did, just a few weeks back? That’s the kind of interaction and communication we need, and Anet needs to hire more people like him and seriously give that guy a friggin raise.
(edited by Ark Bladesteele.2943)
I don’t know who the people are that Anet uses as a focus group or for alpha testing
Do they even do these things? Seems to me like they suffer from some kind of confirmation bias. Maybe an echo chamber where they hear what they want to hear and the “great idea!” message continually gets amplified to the point they can’t see a bad idea for what it is. A bad idea.
If you read what the current and ex-employees on glassdoor.com write, you are most likely right on the money. Go ahead and read it. I’ll wait.
Bad.
On T9 EU we really have to look for fights by running across the whole map and even then it occurs that we can’t find anyone to fight. White swords allowed us to find enemies and fights that much faster. Now it’s just a long series of karma training empty camps, towers and keeps.
TLDR: BRING BACK WHITE SWORDS
Yes.
I can spend an entire day to upgrade the UW home border(alone or with 1-2 more players) by running back and forth between keeps, towers and camps upgrading, walking dollies and calling for help if I see a big group show up. Upgraded keeps is the only thing keeping people interested in defending the borderland in the first place and now there’s no way for me to tell if something is attacked if I’m not there and therefore there’s no way for me to defend or call for help until it’s too late, if I dont happen to be where the enemy attacks just as they decide to do so. Right now I will not be able to upgrade much at all and I will have to be there the entire time from paper to wp.
Now since you’re from FoW you probably know how UW is at night/morning. If not you can check the income evolution for our matchup(Week 50): http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/2/
All day it’s about equal and every night FoW score skyrockets because UW and BT don’t have enough(sometimes, no) players at this time. I mean for UW it’s usually 0-5 wvw players total on all maps at late night- unless we got a karma train going, which is very rare. And now the very few people we have at night won’t even be able to tell which structures are attacked before they flip. If a few pve player should dare hop into wvw at night they’ll have no clue what to do and probably just leave shortly after.
This change is as we can see no good for low pop/bad coverage servers and it doesn’t help smallscale fights since the groups are more likely to miss eachother than to meet in a fight. That said I still enjoy the extra need for callouts of enemy movement and such at primetime but that doesn’t really work for any timeslot when servers are low on population.
(BTW: The time UW got a high tick on early wednesday was a hacker capping all keeps in no time at all and we’re all sorry about that. It shouldn’t be allowed to happen.)
You want to see something really interesting? T5 NA. We are currently up against a server that outnumbers us, and we’ve always relied on using small numbers of people to respond to larger groups which allows us to spread out more and allow our larger guilds to go elsewhere. We haven’t been able to do that without white swords. To clarify, I mainly play borderland defense; i.e. scouting, roaming, upgrading, etc. What I’ve seen is our defenders practically evaporate since the change went in; nobody wants tower/keep/camp squatting duty and it’s impossible to find a fight anymore. A camp flips? Run over to it and the people who took it have already waypointed or are long gone. Tower flips? Same deal. Keeps? Unless we have a waypoint, which nobody wants to bother upgrading to order anymore, they’re gone just as fast. All it takes is half a dozen guild cats and sometimes not even that. Our play style works in a completely different way than the other, larger server we’re up against, and it’s a play style we’ve tweaked and learned after losing for 24 weeks straight (our first win since then was last week).
So, check this out. Look at the score evolution for our server (green) before the patch and then the score evolution for the larger server (red) after the patch:
http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/28/
We were winning the matchup by about 18k. Now we’re down 23k. As I posted earlier, this change destroyed the matchup for us. Since yesterday morning I’ve barely bothered to go into WvW, and the one time I did was into the red server’s BL to roam and flip camps. It was the most boring thing in the world; I flipped every camp in the BL and didn’t find a single fight. Not one. Who wants to play like this?
Revert the change. It’s terrible.
(edited by Ark Bladesteele.2943)
even with or without swords 5 men can not stop 10 men on omegas that want to take a t3 keep .
Just want to take a moment to say that you’re wrong. I have defended against a 12 omega rush on bay during the S2 tourney in the middle of the night with just myself and 2 others. All golems dead. This is before disablers. It’s not impossible, you just need a few people with functioning brains, cannons, ballistas, mortars, and maybe a treb or two. It wasn’t easy, but we did it. Omegas are not an insta-win. Although, they are more so now, since you won’t even know when they hit something if you’re not already in the structure.
agree that was the situation before golems mastering in season 2 ! now ? NO !
with full golems mastering now the situation is unfair to defenders AND if they do not have more than 5 men to counter omegas by disabling them , then the omegas can wipe anything on the wall in any place on the wall.
p.s. guess what have the attackers with omegas ? they are full of supplies and they can disable canons and every siege on walls , and oils until the omega golems destroy them
Oh I totally agree with you; Golem Mastery was something completely unneeded and they were already powerful enough. Disablers should also be the other way around — disable golems for 45 seconds (disabled golems can still move! How can they still move? They’re friggin robot suits), and other siege for 20. But that would be smart. We don’t do smart ’round these parts.
The API doesn’t have hooks to find out if something is being attacked, so it would be impossible to find out if something had white swords or not.
Of course, this doesn’t matter anymore anyway.
even with or without swords 5 men can not stop 10 men on omegas that want to take a t3 keep .

Well, that sucks. Hopefully they patch in the ability to do so soon.
I noticed yesterday when the reset rolled over that the really nice login reward and daily UI popped up, looked great, I was able to hover over and see the login rewards, I liked the the daily UI and how it was presented (split into the 3 categories). Question is, I can’t seem to find a way to bring that UI up again. I can see my dailies in the usual way by bringing up the achievement section in my hero panel. I can’t find a way to see the login rewards at all. So, question is, is there a way to open that UI again?
It’s awesome how the forum is overflowing with literally thousands of suggestions for improvements and changes and yet they managed to implement something that literally nobody asked for.
Because most of the suggestions ppl ask for are nearly imposable to do and would comply flit how WvW is played so much that it would kill the game. Smaller changes like removing white swords or adding in oranges swords just changes how you see the maps NOT the game play every thing can be dealt with if some ppl would communicate what they see. If your world has no roamers then as a world you SHOULD lose things.
Simply put, we don’t have enough people on our server to scout every location all the time. The only thing this change is going to do is make it even more frustrating when something big flips only because we didn’t have someone squatting in it for hours on end and watching every single gate/wall to see if the enemy is attacking.
It’s hard enough trying to pull people to get across the map when swords pop on a keep to try and make it in time to do something about it. Now, something flips, and there won’t be any warning, notification — nothing.
Out of the 24 servers in NA, this change will have the largest benefit to 5, possibly 6. That is not the majority. Don’t implement it. As Brutal said, Dumb idea is Dumb.
And furthermore, as for the implementation of ideas that you say would be “impossible,” it wasn’t impossible to implement them somewhere else.
After playing in the Silverwastes the last few weeks, I think one of the most satisfying and awesome ideas was the addition of using a signal fire to call in air support. The effects are fantastic, the result is devastating to the attacking enemy, and then I remembered one small detail:
It was PvE.
I posted both of these in two separate threads regarding the removal of white swords. The thing is, a lot of these suggestions aren’t impossible, it’s just that they have no desire to spend time implementing them in WvW. SW has had more interesting WvW changes than actual WvW has in the last 2 years. It’s not impossible. They just don’t want to bother.
Furthermore, I have yet to see a single dev post in this subforum actually asking us how our experiences have been, how we feel about the change, and if there’s anything they think they can do to improve it. For a “test,” player feedback would seem invaluable, would it not? As would a back and forth with the development team. This would be a normal and natural occurrence at my company, and on a previous game I worked on we spent months adding a game mode that it turned out nobody liked and was splitting the community, with the majority on the side of getting rid of it (this data was not just gained using feedback on the forums and interaction with our players, it was aggregated through total player participation between the original game mode and the new one). So you know what we did? Even though we had spent months on this game mode and made multiple maps to support it, we got rid of it. The community thrived again. The divisiveness stopped, and it was a positive move. We made a mistake, we admitted it, and we corrected it. There are so many things wrong here that I can only come back around to the same conclusion: it seems that they just don’t want to bother.

Completely destroyed our current matchup. Tactics are all over the place. Defense, upgrades, practically useless. Waste of gold. Nobody wants to sit in a tower or camp or keep for hours. Nobody wants to run around an empty map looking for people attacking something for hours. It’s ridiculous. I’ll go play something else until your stupid “event” is over, Anet.
Roamers exist, because I am a roamer, and routinely run into other roamers. On a T5 server. The metas for roaming may have changed, but we’re still out there.
Logging in to our BL post-patch and it’s ludicrous. We have groups of an opposing server EVERYWHERE and we can’t keep track of them all, so while we’re fighting off one group on one side of the map, 3-4 man groups are flipping towers and keeps on the other side. We can’t be everywhere at once, even splitting up into similar-size groups, and make it to objectives in time to stop them from flipping. We’ve already lost all 3 keeps and most of our towers. It’s insanity out there. Absolute insanity. Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
Since I’m having serious trouble parsing any of the language in your posts, I’m guessing that english is not your first language. But, to say that the defending side would never have to risk life to keep track of what is going on is ludicrous. What do you think roamers do? The solitary guy sitting in a tower when a 20+ person zerg shows up isn’t risking his life? When people see white swords on a structure, unless they already have a scout in there, they have no idea what they’re running into: risking their lives. Even if they do have a scout in there, and they know the numbers and where the objective is being attacked from, showing up to fight the group off: risking their lives.
Your posts are full of logical fallacies.
I’ve been commanding as a War for a little over a year, and I run a mix of knight’s, soldier’s, and berserker’s. 3.2k armor (no dolyak signet), 22k hp, and decent crit chance (57%). I run 0/2/6/0/6, and while that sounds weird, Rousing Resilience and Brawler’s Recovery offer excellent armor and condition removal (especially since Rousing Resilience auto-activates when using Balanced Stance). My weapon sets are sw+horn/hammer, utilities, balanced stance, endure pain (get out of jail card) and shake it off.
I can generally survive longer than the people I command, which is sometimes a good thing and sometimes a bad thing. I’d considered burst mastery over brawler’s recovery, for the flurry/hammer combo, but it’s just not worth giving up the condi clear.
I occasionally use dolyak signet instead of endure pain, but since endure pain still works as a stun breaker, I tend to prefer it.
Figuring out your build just takes time. It has to be a balance between damage, control effects, and of course survivability.
I don’t look at arrows. I see red and start firing.
Neither do I. Never have, probably never will.
Reported for obvious reasons. You reap what you sow.

Here are the reasons not to transfer
1. Transfers are really expensive. They cost half of what the game costs.
A very good point.
2. If you play in prime time, your server and the opposing servers basically have good coverage and you will get a good experience.
Also a good point; if you’re in it for fights play on a server with activity in your timezone and you will find them. Aside from a couple servers like BP and Mag who had a mass exodus, you should be fine.
3. The rewards for winning are fairly meaningless.
Yep. Three, count ’em, three whole bonus chests go to the server that wins a matchup. They contain the same garbage that rank chests have with the occasional lucky find.
PS. OP mentioned wanting to break off from the Zerg and make a meaningful impact on the game. Perhaps he should transfer down to lower populated servers where such things are not only possible but how the game’s played.
Pretty much, although even lower tier servers aren’t exempt from zerging. It’s just not a 24/7 practice.
Well, the borderlands besides your server’s doesn’t have access to bank aswell.
It is, however, possible to upgrade keeps to get banking service. Borderlands have them right outside of spawn at crafting stations and the bankers directly across from the portal. Personally I don’t care whatsoever about a lack of banker in EotM, but that’s because I don’t play it. I can see that the people who do might want one.
I tend to agree with the OP; if you’ve maxed out MF through luck, there is no longer a use for it. The devs have to have expected this (after all, we do have a Diamond Legend rank WvW player and there is no rank beyond that) because people are people and people will grind. Perhaps make luck something to convert in the MF? I dunno.
I just hope there’s more concern for serious and adult storytelling. Her Disney background is leaving me rather skeptical.
In my opinion, Disney stories, while they are addressed or presented in a manner that can be approached by the mind of a child, actually present core concepts that are not childish at all, as they deal with eternal themes that cross ages, cultures, and languages. I find Leah’s background to be impressive on many levels, and I have complete confidence that the story of Guild Wars 2 will continue to be presented in a manner that focuses upon mature players. (I don’t speak for Leah, I’m just stating my opinion as a team member and a player.
)
That is definitely intriguing, and the turnaround Disney has done in the last several years has been unexpected. Frozen? True love, yes, but not the kind of prince-kisses-the-princess sort of way. Maleficent? Very close thematically towards the end.
I have to wonder if Pixar is having any effect on this. They have a wonderful track record of subverting tropes, and I’m hoping that sort of writing carries over into Disney’s primary works.
That said, I hope the writing behind Marjory and Kasmeer becomes more realistic and not the standard token lesbian trope it’s been. I want to feel empathy for these characters, and their writing has put me in a place where every cinematic makes me think “is it over yet?”. The opening from the previous LS installment regarding Belinda was quite good. Why can’t we have that all the time?
the second option would be to execute a file-validation every time you start gw2 (imagine you get a disconnect in pvp and are required to wait the next 5min additionally)
Third party programs get around this by patching the executable data after it is loaded in to memory. Software like Punkbuster continually analyzes code execution to see if it is being hot-modded after launch, and a lot of people dislike it for obvious reasons regarding performance and dubious levels of system intrusion.
That said, I might welcome something like it at this point. This has been going on for two years, and the cover-ups by mod deletion (achieves nothing, by the way, all of this is archived on numerous other sites. Wave to reddit o/) and handwaving the people who perpetuate it away instead of taking a zero tolerance hard line makes it seem as if nobody cares.
Remember the fiasco brought up regarding a player who continually griefed BBB instances under the name The Greefer? Same person that pretended to be Anet staff and threatened EotM players with account termination. Said person was online just a few days ago under the alias Portal Troll (same account) and continually portaling people to their death in Plains of Ashford. I watched, reported, and with a name like that I would think there’d be a response, but there never was.
There has to be a point at which zero tolerance is enforced. No suspensions. No temp bans. Account termination. The person in question is detailed below:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/10-mins-commanding-FR-zerg-and-being-reported/first
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Griefers/first
And yes, Michael, you did post in the first thread.
edit: upon reflecting, my post seems abrasive. It’s not meant to be. The bottom line that I wanted to hit was: how far does another player have to go before their account is terminated? While Michael did comment in the thread about staff impersonation, it was a clarification, and the person in question was not removed from the game. Again, what is the process that support goes through before someone is removed? I hardly think that a player mentioned in the above threads is a complement to the game. So, simple question here, where is the line drawn? Where does it become a minor infraction vs. complete termination?
(edited by Ark Bladesteele.2943)
That post history is pretty kitten ing. I honestly don’t know what to think except, maybe stop feeding the troll?
In response to the last poster, I advise you to read Michael’s responses as well as player follow-ups. You are looking for an answer, like I was, and one was given.

Before they nuke this thread from orbit.
my warrior has almost 3500 armor and 800 healing power but in full adrenaline can not recover so fast any damage , special the damage from thieves .
2 possible reasons for this we saw. 1. dolyak rune , healing sigils or trait bugged ( double heals all the time ,some times triple ) or 2. enemies do not know how to deliver burst damage ….
Look closer, he’s clearing condis way too fast. That’s Rune of the Trooper.
I’m not seeing any double pings from his Healing Signet. If he’s regening at a rate of almost 500, that requires ~1200 healing power. His Adrenal Health is similarly hitting pretty high and that would make sense with that high HP. His relative vit of 26k seems like we’re looking at a combination of Cleric’s and perhaps something else. Definitely a hybrid. Shout heals scale very well with healing power, so with Inspiring Shouts (to get his adrenaline up), Lung Capacity, and Vigorous Shouts, he’s using a twist on what would be considered a common sPvP bunker meta. He’s also running a stacking sigil, and I can’t tell what it is because the icons all look the same (seriously Anet, make them different) and I can only guess that perhaps he’s using mango pies. Utilities? Could be toxic sharpening stones, could be crystals, could be toxic oils. The latter wouldn’t make sense for his build. Again, I can’t guess at what it is.
It’s a ?/?/4/6/? build, with definite points in Discipline. Sigils I can only guess at. Leeching perhaps? Blood doesn’t scale well with healing power and only procs every 5 seconds, and that’s if you crit.
Relatively low power but a s+s/LB setup, you can pull off some really good condi tick dmg with even low condi damage. I know I’m wrong about some of this, but it’s not an impossible build to achieve.
It’s also really trollish :P
edit: Fastcar bursts on his LB for the fire field and the fact that the burst doesn’t have to hit a target to clear condis.
