What it most likely is is something cut from the game. That trailer was from 2010. A lot changed between then and release.
It is likely that the company was given a 4 day weekend. Don’t expect anything until the matchup is actually over.
I’m always intrigued by players complaining about spawn camping. There’s 3 exits. And in EB those exists are so wide that spawn campers shouldn’t be more than a minor nuisance.
Wrong thread.
His build is hardly complicated and relies almost entirely on conditions for damage. I noticed his healing signet was ticking for 498 in the first video I watched, which means he’s got approx 1200 healing power (unless his server’s medic bonus was high at the time, in which he could have specced at 1000 and been fine). The regen from adrenal health (which does not tick every second), the regen from healing signet, and the additional healing and condi cleanse from shout heals (rune of the trooper/soldier in PvP) would throw a lot of peple off. His condi damage is also relatively low, but does last for a decent while. Anyone who had solid condi clears should be able to finish him with ease.
Yes, I run a very similar mid-bunker in PvP; s/s+LB, and while it’s cheap, capping and holding in sPvP is everything. I can last for a very long time but overall damage is relatively mediocre and is highly dependent on blinds, immobilizes, and whittling down via conditions. The whole point is to be able to tank as much as possible from the other team so you don’t lose the cap.
Reactivated? They’re not friggin robots, yo.
Back to action. Admittedly easier with robots, just turn them on
but also possible with humans (motivate them). I am not native English, but I think “reactivation of reservists” is a common phrase in English.
Only if they’re robotic sleeper agents with a cold-blooded desire to kill. Anyway, creating a free transfer situation is the easiest way to watch a bandwagon in action, and then watch it bleed all away as soon as they’ve had enough. HoD had map queues during S2 that were larger than T1, and now we’re lucky if we can field 40 on a push night. If you want to break a server, go ahead and make it a free transfer. Nobody will know who anyone else is, people will stack on just a few out of the many, and this will rotate every few months as folks look for action elsewhere. There would be just several servers that dominate all the others in each league every quarter year or so. Is that what you want?
Reactivated? They’re not friggin robots, yo.
They already merged, called Edge of the Mists
The topic was concerning WvW, not PvE content where sometimes a fight breaks out.
EotM is WvW, its the newest map introduced to WvW.
The developer simply makes something for the WvW community and its in the players hands.
Not my fault people don’t want a serious WvW.
If you want a serious WvW than start taking it serious, because you can do whatever you want on that map, not my fault people prefer to see who can take stuff faster than the other person. You could do exactly what you do in EotM and put it into WvW and vice versa.
You assume WvW players want one thing, but they really want something like EotM.
None of you speak for everyone, the game speaks for itself, you could defend in EotM, but ‘fact is’ people prefer to play how they play on EotM (The more fun, less serious way).Same can be said for PvP, hotjoins, after they made it serious 5v5, theres a lot less servers and people playing playing them. Just isn’t fun anymore, which is what they want in a game.
Not some ‘Must defend’ ‘Must do this’ ‘Must do that’.
EotM is just a more fun style of WvW, hence why so many people play it. Also, because its most up to date(newest) map of WvW. Also, because its merged servers together so, don’t have to worry too much about being on an ‘’empty’ server.
There are vast differences between WvW and EotM, and “more fun” is entirely a personally-subjective statement. I would hope you would know better than that. The fact that you didn’t realize until just recently how the entire place worked speaks volumes. Personally, I would rather drink bleach than play EotM, and that’s even when my own server is being destroyed in a matchup.
I don’t ever visit EotM for a “more fun” WvW experience. I do it to level alts, farm WXP and Karma, and that’s about it.
Free transfers destroyed our server. If you don’t know the saga of what happened to HoD after Season 2, I will be happen to enlighten you as to why free transfers is not the answer to anything, and why it would likely destroy any last remnants of server pride, cohesion, and that sense of awareness you get by playing with the same people over and and over again. You want a giant melting pot? Go play EotM.
I know it’s probably an objectively personal preference, but I also really dislike the look of the High shader setting. Everything ends up looking shiny/wet (even things that shouldn’t) and it lends an overall plastic-y look to it all.
Buying the Dreamthistle Warhorn skin from the TP a few months back for 400g and then getting Howl as a drop and crafting Howler only 2 weeks after.
I mean, it is a nice horn skin, and I guess I couldn’t have known that Howl would drop, but still…
Which specific role do you think the 2-handed axe should fill?
For example they can’t give a 2-handed axe as a weapon choice for Warriors and make it a Melee aoe damage weapon because that’s what the GS does.
4 & 5 only hit one target. 3 doesn’ t deal dmg (kinda) and the 2 sucks (IMO). Hammer is a better AOE weapon on warrior + it got nice CC.
GA could be like hammer – CC + damage. Or actually condition…
I want GA so badly! To me the game would seem more complete when those are in.
Correction: the only GS skill that hits only one target is 5 (Rush).
Burst: 5 target circular AoE.
1 – 3-target 180-degree frontal aoe.
2 – 3-target 180-degree frontal aoe.
3 – 5-target (maximum 8 hits) circular aoe along its path (and if you think it doesn’t deal damage, you have got to be kidding)
4 – Number of targets unspecified, but I would guess 3. Also a projectile.
Not necessarily true that T8 part. Anvil Rock pulled itself out of 3rd place in our matchup after being behind by a few thousands. Currently we sit almost 20k ahead of the 2nd server. and we most certainly can field a population more then once a week lol. That also stands true for another server that we face (who fields a looooot of people, you know who you are blue side.) Merging populations isn’t going to fix the problems. Its been suggested a bunch of times and I don’t think they’ll pull through with it. Servers are still on the move, Darkhaven just entered T5 and they’re winning their matchup with a 50k point lead and Borlis just moved into Bronze from an implosion. Maguuma might be heading down as well, or they might stay in T5. With so many servers moving around, merging isn’t going to help. and I believe T2-T4 is in a weird situation where there is 4 T2 servers? (T2 matchup+FA)? I’m not sure of that situation but yea merging – not going to solve anything
The situation happening in T5 right now is thus: DH has an enormous SEA population that plays throughout early morning NA into the afternoon. HoD does not. Apparently Mag does not. If you watch the trends, DH takes everything during the day and then both servers start to recover around 5-6pm EST when the NA population starts to get home from work.
I think they might be a better fit for T4. There aren’t many servers below that, at least that I’ve seen, that can field a SEA population to match. GoM, maybe? I don’t know, I haven’t fought them since they tanked before S3, but it looks like they should be moving up soon.
Merging doesn’t mean anything if you merge populations that lack coverage during the same time periods. It’s always entertaining for me when fighting a new server to discover their “weak” times, and I’m sure DH figured that one out pretty quickly when they took the entire map Saturday morning.
As I’ve said many times before in similar threads, spawn camping is not something that can currently be fixed. It’s done as a victory dance/middle finger to the server being camped, and sometimes there are server grudges so vast that it goes on for hours. Yes, even with people blocking the other exits using ballis and other siege so as to make it figuratively impossible to leave.
In another topic, someone suggested the rather colorful idea of putting mannable Megalaser turrets at spawn so that people could vaporize the campers. I thought it was amusing, but then I thought about it some more, and I actually think frying up your taunters with spawn lasers was a pretty good idea. It would be good for a laugh, and people would sure as hell stop camping if something like that existed.
Win some, lose some. I’ve won a 5v1 in the last tournament but I swear they were all straight out of PvE — 5 signet rifle warriors.
The Legend, twice. Both from players on BP.
Another possible solution would be to have GMs randomly follow anyone reported for wrongdoing if they can’t respond to view it immediately. Especially if that person is reported many separate times for the same thing.
Hmm, are you absolutely sure about that? I’m not certain about skills like shouts being able to be heard by the enemy team, but I know for a fact that I’ve sometimes heard the random voice barks given off by an enemy jumping or activating a skill and that cued me in to the fact that an attack was coming.
There are a few things that do get heard by the enemy, but they are entirely confined to what I would consider “grunts.” I’ve heard asura eles make the loud sound when switching attunements, but never anything like “Air!” or “The power of water!” aside from my own fellow players. There is also no chat bubble associated with it. Shouts and other VO are completely hidden from enemy servers. A shout War or Guard can do them all day without even the effect showing. This is different.
edit: just a small sample, when I duel Warriors I don’t hear anything at all from them when they activate Sigil of Rage. I see the effect and animation, but the VO is completely silent. I know this from many, many, duels. If a thief used a swiftness skill or anything else that would cause the character to be noticed, it would break their ability to hide. I have never heard anything from a stealthed thief that would lead me to their position. The closest I’ve gotten is thieves that keep their minis active in WvW, but that’s just dumb. I was whispered by a thief on a rival server about a month ago asking how I knew where he was. Not so nicely. I was accused of wrongdoing. I told him I just followed his mini. He said “oh kitten , I forgot to hide it. Sorry!”

I’ve actually noticed that Foxfire drops seem to be much higher in the Silverwastes than elsewhere. I have a funny feeling that it’s due to the “Perseverance” buff; somehow, the MF bonus is applying to the chance to get rare items from nodes in the Silverwastes. I’ve also noticed I seem to get much more Prickly Pears and Crystals/Orbs too. (Sadly this bonus does not seem to extend to my Watchwork Pick’s sprocket rate.)
Oddly, although MF is not supposed to affect gathering, I’ve seen more Foxfire Clusters from SW than the usual spots in Orr. Could be placebo, but perhaps not — Perseverance and MF do affect chests in SW. There’s no hard data to tell us otherwise, though.
Craft Sunrise and Twilight, combine them into Eternity, sell the result. You still get both skins. A glowing gem on the hilt and slightly different footfalls is not worth over 4k gold (well over several hundred real dollars). My humble opinion.
Carry on.
@Michael,
did your tests with these new tools yield any results? I also hope that you will be spending time outside of T1, because there are still thousands of us down on the lower tiers.
Yep, they work. You’ll see us from time to time, though generally we’re invisible. And we never forget lower tiers. I’ve played on Anvil Rock, Maguuma, SBI, TC, and several others. My direct reports and I try to join a different server every season to get a feel of what’s going on for each of you (EU included). The account in my signature is open for friend invites or follows and you can always say hi.
Disclaimer! I will sometimes ignore whispers, don’t take it personally I’m very busy when online and get tell-kittened as I’m sure you’d imagine. I’ll pop my commander tag most of the time so you can find my toon and come say hello directly.
*Edit to update signature.
That is awesome to know. I have another question, though (so many questions!). Do you have the ability to jump between servers at will? You mentioned being on servers during seasons, but that isn’t exactly a catch-all. We had our adopt-a-dev Melnetta on our server during S3 and she would ask us after every matchup if this was the kind of thing we were dealing with all the time. After 23 weeks without a win, it was a bit of an exhausted “yes, every time.” She would routinely observe wrongdoing but had no power to do anything about it.
We need GMs on every server, and not just during the seasons. We had a flamboyant and very vocal person using foul play on our server during this current matchup, and while I see that he’s no longer ingame (kudos, btw), it took weeks to get that result. We really do need a full spread of people like you to deal with, well, people like him. Is that a possibility?
The slight difference here is that enemy players cannot hear shouts or VO from anyone on your side. Slight, yes. On the other hand, the enemy can hear everything the Annoy-o-Tron says, and can see its chat bubbles, even if they have text bubbles disabled in settings. I managed to kill a thief wearing the Annoy-o-Tron earlier tonight because he would stealth and I’d see its dumb chat bubbles, then knew exactly where he was.
Hence why the usage of the back skin has been banned from our guild and why we tell people who follow our tags to unequip it. Nothing like losing half your veiled group because one person had it on and watching the enemy divert completely towards its chat bubble.
So, Annoy-o-Tron? Suicide-o-Tron? Grief-o-Tron? KillYourEntireGroup-o-Tron? So much to choose from.
This does actually make sense. I would like to see it too, as it already exists in nearly every other aspect of the game. Why not? Lords should be difficult to kill for a large zerg. They are Champs, and they are Legendaries. The SMC Lord feels less Legendary than a camp supervisor. That shouldn’t be the case. I’ve had only 2 people backing me up at times when I’ve pushed the lord and capped it. Legendary? No. The Legendary mobs in the Silverwastes are Legendary. Three people shouldn’t be able to kill him in as short as 4 minutes — the last video of our SMC cap I posted had just that many and that’s how long it took.
Vote for best red post update in 2014, Michael Henninger. Mike (can I call you Mike?), you have no idea how in the dark we were and how little we knew about how emails to exploits@ and ingame reports were handled. Thank you for your attention.
edit: and please don’t be afraid to come in here and talk to us. We have been desperate for any dev or support responses about WvW and “wrongdoing” for a long time. You’ve clarified many things for us. You have, honestly, done more for the WvW community by posting in this thread than any CDI or meager update has done in the last year. Bravo.

Borderlands, north camp, easily.
For the first time a long time, it appears they actually are. See here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Ingame-GMs-do-they-exist/first
I would just like to point out that in WvW this thing can get your entire group killed. Its chat bubbles are visible while veiled/invis/stealthed and the other servers can hear it as well. We’ve since banned its usage in our guild while in WvW and tell anyone following us that has one to unequip it. I’m not sure if hiding it works, but I don’t think so.

Well, I heard Sialoquent is gone…
That’s good news at least.
@Michael,
did your tests with these new tools yield any results? I also hope that you will be spending time outside of T1, because there are still thousands of us down on the lower tiers.
Agreed. Please remove your post from the thread. I worded my original question in such a way as to avoid its deletion.
Why stop at the server? You should just report

Its all the same people posting that stuff.
The kind of people that like to say “0/10 troll attempt”
They just like to take turns posting a new thread to make it feel like its a huge issue.
The people that did trebbing off the map were more civilized than the people talking about somebody playing legit with a superior siege golem (its a siege golem, best siege in game and its a superior one, no doubt it’s going to be raising chaos).WvW isn’t declining because of suppose hackers and cheaters, the game style is getting stale, you guys seriously should be considering my thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/WvW-thoughts-1/first#post4567380 to make it less stale, but you guys continue to insist in your narrow view that it has to be wholely based on cheaters and exploiters that WvW is dying, completely wrong.
Just as wrong as the guys on the PvP forums insisting on making hotjoin less fun and super strict like tournament type games (5v5, serious play, no fun allowed).
You want WvW to start growing again and stop declining, stop using other things as scapegoats and start getting innovative like what I’m doing. Let the developers deal with the cheaters and exploiters, all you need to do is report them. You don’t need to do the developers job and discuss how they should deal with them, they have a plan to deal with such people, stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
Stop telling us what to do and stop defending people like the person who has already admitted himself he was not “playing legit” when was using that golem and still boasts about it today. Stop defending the off-map trebber. Stop defending all of the other wrongdoing that has been caught and discussed here. Who are you and why are you so quick to jump to the defense of people who are using foul play? I’m pretty sure the entire WvW community thinks you’re a bane to these forums and I feel sorry for any server that has you on it.
I say we should have a day where absolutely noone goes into WvW. Would that get their attention?
Pretty sure the answer to that question is no.
We used the ingame report tool a couple days ago when the person in question on our server was dueling people using a 3rd party program outside of SMC. He was right there, doing it in front of 20+ people. I even whispered people from the other server to report him as well. No GMs showed up to observe the behavior that I know of, and since he is still playing, I’m guessing none did. If you saw what he was doing, there would be no doubts as to the veracity of our reports.
Could you possibly PM me their account name?
I’ve spent a long time in WvW and seen a lot of, shall we say, foul play from people on various servers, even our own. I’m asking a simple question: do we have ingame GMs that we can whisper or mail when we see wrongdoing so they can observe it for themselves? I have never seen or been in contact with any GM ingame in WvW. So, do they exist? Could we have their account names? Ingame eyes from staff would go a long way in helping to improve the WvW experience, and I would think would be even more valuable than a token update to the game that, at this point, could ever be. Please tell us that we have not been utterly forgotten and left in the cold to fend for ourselves, because that’s exactly how I feel every time a thread about “wrongdoing” is deleted without warning or notice and without any reason given for the deletion.
To put it slightly poetically, the carpet that things have been swept under now looks like someone stashed a pile of cars under it. It’s your game, Anet. Help us protect its integrity. Don’t think for a moment that these threads you’ve deleted haven’t been screenshotted, archived, and reposted elsewhere. The more you try to silence things, the more it spreads. You want people to buy this game. You want us to spend money on gems. You have a serious problem that you seem unwilling to address. What’s your move?
I worked on a competitive multiplayer game that shall go unnamed about 10 years ago, and anyone caught hacking (it was an FPS, so it was mostly aimbotting) was immediately removed from the game. While we couldn’t simply delete accounts from reports without evidence, videos would cause us to put GMs on watch on their account and follow them discreetly to get an actual eye on what they were doing so that:
a) We could work to figure out what the person was doing so we could patch the game to prevent it from happening again.
b) There was an actual staff member at our company that could vouch that the person was hacking/exploiting. This would lead to automatic account deletion.
Sadly, Anet does not appear to have any such system in place. If there are ingame GMs, I don’t know who they are or if they even care enough to respond to a message about something like this. I have seen them in PvP. They wear the dev tag, though, so it’s likely that anyone that would generally be hacking/exploiting would not do it with them around.
The dude in your own guild trying to mess with you is funny.
That was actually the only thing I noticed in the screenshot. Pretty funny
The latest thread about cheating with 100% proof of the cheaters cheating has been deleted and Anet won’t be taking any action. The people who posted the videos to report the cheaters probably got their posts infracted or might have even been temporarily banned.
There is no way to report cheaters in this game. Emailing Anet at the “exploits” email doesn’t actually do anything.
The cheaters win again.
Such a thread would be deleted simply because it is a rather clear breach of the rules of both the game and the forums.
There is a way to report cheaters and hackers, and if people would actually do that instead of raging about it on the forums it would most likely have quite a bit more effect. Keep in mind however that they still need to investigate and make sure what is happening before just blatantly banning an account.
We have tried this way. Hundreds of people have reported the person that was specifically mentioned in the deleted thread where video of him was linked. Emails sent to exploits@arena.net. Support tickets submitted with stock GM responses telling us to post here. He’s still playing.
There really is no way to report it. I’m going to have to go with “unwilling” here because all they need to do is delete his account. But they don’t. There are half a dozen videos of him out there now and yet I login, and there he is in EBG speedhacking all over the place.
I tend to change the look up on my main a lot, but here’s my sylvari Warrior in what I’ve dubbed his “Dragoon Avatar” look.
Glint’s Gaze Mask
Carapace Shoulders
Phalanx Warplate
Glorious Gauntlets
Braham’s Legguards
Phalanx Warboots
Mesmers can also do this on south gate. It’s a well-known exploit.
Sounds like a solid plan to get yourself infracted and your post deleted.
To what end?
I don’t know, I was just referring to the content of the OP.
Sounds like a solid plan to get yourself infracted and your post deleted. Have fun with that.
It’s certainly been an interesting night for us at HoD. We’ve been stuck at T5 with BP and no other 3rd server we can match, and now we’re up against Mag and ET. Weird stuff. You guys fielded some impressive numbers, and that was quite a tier leap to get here. I almost wonder if the matching was done manually this week. CD got NSP and DR and SBI somehow ended up with DB for the 3rd week in a row, and IoJ. Watching millenium has been quite an experience, though, because the CD/DR/NSP match is neck-and-neck 5 hours after reset. Should be an interesting match to watch.
Good luck to us all.
Oh wow, I never could figure out what those challenge motes were for. Thank you! I keep failing the facet of strength achieve and it’s such a tedious thing to get back into Glint’s lair with all that dialog and book-hunting. Thanks for the heads-up!
It’s been happening on HoD BL since reset as well. Usually I think it’s me, but then I’ll hear in TS “whoa, massive lag spike” et al and it’s at least once every 20 or so minutes. Something is wrong.
Hey, John, where the hell did you go? Seems like you posted a couple of things, responded to a couple of things, then just friggin disappeared like every other WvW “community manager” that we’ve had for the last 2 years. Did you do such a great job here that you got promoted? Fired? Quit? Committed suicide (I sincerely hope not)? Please talk to us.
Well it’s kind of hard to balance things if players won’t play when they losing.
Look, some people just don’t like getting facerolled by 5x their numbers anytime they step near a camp or tower. That will demoralize a lot of people. You can’t make people play if they’re not having fun doing it. I would say most people don’t find that fun. I find my fun in other ways, because to do otherwise would feel like giving up, but you can’t ask that of everyone.
Everyone, including me has complained about balance issues in WvW. We have complained about it for a very long time. They are FINALLY trying to do something about it, and you are upset about it??
At least Anet is trying to do something to help with the balance issues, Keep complaining about them trying, and sooner or later they will simply go back to ignoring the WvW again.
Explain to me how this has anything to do with fixing balance issues, please.
I’m just going to go ahead and say it: I blame Anet directly for these matchups. The RNG chances of just one of these matchups occurring was less than 4%. The RNG chances of all 3? We’re looking at about the same chance as getting a precursor out of the forge.
The matches were manually fixed. So, yeah, eff you Anet. I don’t know what you were planning, or what you thought to accomplish, but go to hell.
You contradict yourself when you say the chances of it’s happening are about the same of getting a precursor on the forge and then saying the matches were manually fixed… Because i know quite a few people that got precursors from the forge (one of them got 9 so far).
The chances of getting a precursor using 4 exotics from the forge is 0.07% .. hence why I’m flat out saying that the matches were fixed. The RNG for these matches is rolled once per week. This isn’t like dumping 100 greatswords into the forge at once. Do you understand now? The chance being as low as it is, I’m calling them out for fixing the matches. One? Okay, I can understand. All 3? Nope.
