Why do grenades have no auto-cast? Simple really; Arena Net demands that at least half of all engineer builds be worthless, so any skills that aren’t underpowered have to be balanced out by being too hard for the average player to use effectively.
I use elixirs for condition removal. Not a big fan of the med kit really.
That was the point—the only kits you would ever really swap to while you have confusion on you would be med kit or elixir gun, and those only if you actually like them and want them in your build. I was trying to say it’s not a huge deal.
That said I am honestly starting to hate this profession. I’ve already rerolled once when I realized (too late) that the thief simply wasn’t what I wanted in a profession, and the engineer started out fun, but it is getting increasingly frustrating due to all the problems. If Arena Net continues to mistreat us as they have, I’m likely to just give up on the game entirely for a while.
I hate heavy armor, and from a role play perspective my main is has the magical ability of a rusty toaster oven, so that just leaves the adventurer professions. Thief is the best fit thematically, but quickly went from fun, to frustrating, to infuriating. The engineer likewise started out fun, but is becoming more and more “meh” every time we’re ignored or nerfed in an update. And ranger….well ranger was pretty meh from the start. I’ve been here since the per-purchase beta events, never missed a beta, or a stress test, and got the entire head start to enjoy the game, and now I’m running out of options for professions I enjoy, and honestly don’t really want to stick around to see what class Arena Net ruins next. Heck; in my years with the original Guild Wars I played a ranger, and not only is my preferred play-style with that profession just completely gone here; but the skill types -once trademarks and defining features of the ranger class- don’t even exist anymore.

Not sure what to recommend there. I’m not much of a role-player, but I can see how the engineer would be a bit tough to role-play.
What type of content are you looking for improvements in? It’s true that engineer aesthetic issues have gone untouched—it’s not a big deal for me but I can see that it could be for you. Are there gameplay/balance issues that are frustrating? If so, for PvE/WvW/PvP? I really have no idea what exactly is causing frustration for you, so I’m not sure how to respond.
The biggest issue is really the fact that Arena Net has a habit of ignoring our issues. Turrets are really buggy, but I hate turrets anyway. Elixirs are too RNG based, but I only use the ones with guaranteed effects. Our weapons just flat out suck, but I mostly use kits. Aside from being ignored and left to rot in balance limbo the two main issues I have with the engineer are that our actually weapons are among the least interesting and useful weapons in the entire game, forcing us to rely heavy on kits, and that said reliance on kits has all but destroyed the game’s intended “cosmetic progression.”
Kit damage has nothing to do with weapon damage, and kit skins replace both back skins and weapon skins. So there is literally zero reason to bother with getting new weapons at all with this class, and while I am not particularly focused on progression, and don’t too interested in getting a legendary right now, it does get pretty boring to always use the same stuff and simply have nothing to shoot for. No goal in the game, even a cosmetic one. About a month ago I went ahead and blew some saved up skill points on forging a Mystic Rifle….and regretted it within ten minutes. I was just too bored and figured “eff it, I’m going to get me one of those cool high-end weapons” but then went back to just never using it.
I like kits, but I don’t like being forced to use only kits. But honestly I just don’t have a choice. Given the lack of my old play-style in this game the only one I’ve really been able to get into is a hybrid damage/support build, and the only thing that can actually do that is a flamethrower/elixir gun build. I fell in love with the engineer because of the versatility and dynamic skill changing we get from kits, so without them there is little reason to play an engineer. But after nearly a year with the profession kit swapping has just gotten old and boring. I want a new and exciting build, but that won’t happen because every other build in the game lacks that all important versatility and is way too dependent on our pathetic weapon selection.
So yeah, there you go.
I don’t like being left out of GW2’s cosmetic progression because of my choice of profession.
I don’t like being forced to use kits because our actual weapons suck.
I don’t like how not using kits pigeonholes us into such limited builds.
And most of all I really don’t like how Arena Net just sees us as “only 10%” and completely ignores all of our problems, large and small.
I’m all for a way to refine them, but when you consider that the Fine ones are there to make money, it would like take a lot to upgrade a basic. Looking at Arena Net’s history with such things I’d imagine something along the lines of 250 basic stones, some dust, maybe a few ectos, and some of those crystals you have to buy with skill points, all tossed into the mystic forge would create between 1 and 3 fine stones.

Come now, that’s a bit melodramatic. Yes, engineers were designed late and the game launched a bit too early, thus the bugs list. Remember that there are positive things to being able to kitswap any time you want as well, such as being the best profession for using on-swap sigils (because you will always trigger them essentially at the cooldown) or being the only profession that can choose any autoattack at any time.
The only kit abilities that remove conditions are medkit 4 and elixir gun 5. If you have high confusion stacks on you and you’re not trying to remove them, you’ve got a problem. If you are trying to remove them, the worst that could happen is you could be hit two additional times by confusion.

If you want something you can play ranged and level in your sleep, go with a thief. Just equip pistol/pistol and the healing skill Signet of Malice. Spamming Unload with that signet will make you basically immortal and do a ton of damage….
For the first thirty or so levels. You’ll hit slowdown after that and need to start adapting, and the thief becomes a real chore to level (in my opinion) between levels forty and sixty. After that bump however, assuming you can get over how squishy the profession is, you can have a blast in PvE using pistols and the shortbow.
Wait what? I thought conditions DID crit. I distinctly remember my bleeds critting on my thief back in beta. Did they nerf that or something?

For us, yes. Arena Net hates engineers, to the point that I honestly believe the profession was thrown together at the last minute simply because people on guru wouldn’t shut up about wanting an engineer/turret class. (For the record I was against engineers from the beginning, and only started playing the class because I was “betrayed” by the design of the thief.)
Hello Guild Wars 2 community, I hope you’re well. This thread is very simple; I’m requesting as many high quality screen shots of the recently added magitech armor set as I can get. I would gather these myself, but sadly my current graphics card (I’m planning to update as soon as I save up the cash) isn’t quite up to the task of getting as high quality as I need. I need screens of the male/human version, with as much high quality detail as possible. These screens are more about the armor than the character, so close ups of things like the gloves, the boots, and the coat would be must highly valued. Likewise the colors don’t matter, so long as I –hopefully- get enough verity in screens from the community to tell what dye channel effects what detail on what part.
Why do I want these you ask? Dragon Con.
For those who don’t know what that is, I highly suggest you look into it. But, being brief, Dragon Con is an annual “geek culture” convention held on Labor Day Weekend in my home town of Atlanta, and hosts some of the best cosplay in the country, rivaling even ComicCon. And having attended this last convention I noticed two things that bugged me.
1; I wasn’t in costume.
2; Nobody was representing Guild Wars.
These things have to change with next year’s convention, so I figured why not kill two birds with one stone, as the saying goes. My plan is to ride out the rest of this year collecting images, sketching templates and other reference images, and testing costume making techniques and materials. Then, beginning early next year, start the long process of crafting a fully fleshed out suit of armor. With luck, time, and a little skill I should have something awesome whipped up by September 2014.

Guild Wars 2 was NEVER targeted at the so called “hardcore” MMO community.
Sorry but that is the cold, hard truth. Just look at the -lack of- marketing in the game’s early days of development. A trend that continued until almost release. Look at how everything they hyped up was counter to what the hardcore community wanted. No raids. No trinity. Most rewards being on a token system rather than drops. Heck, more than half of Guild Wars 2’s design document are the type of things that most hardcore players call “carebear.”
It wasn’t until certain (cough Total Biscuit cough) members of the youtube gaming media got to play the game at Gamescom that the so called “hype-train” went into over drive, and it was hype that was almost exclusively consumer created. Just like the concept of Guild Wars 2 being some revolutionary, genre redefining, “next great MMO” was entirely created by those same youtubers. Before that the official stance for Guild Wars 2 was “we’re not even trying to compete with WoW” and pretty much everyone who had been following the game to that point just expected the hardcore crowd to instantly hate the game. We were prepared for the bashing, the rage, and to even at some point be declared “not a real MMO” just like with the original game.
Then the hype started and all the hardcore players who knew nothing about the game and even less about the direction it was trying to take (including Biscuit and his shambling hoard of zombie-like followers) pounced on the game and all pre-ordered based on their own misinterpretation of what the game was and what it was trying to be. And now here we are; a bounce of players who by rights shouldn’t even be here complaining that the game isn’t doing enough to cater to them. Frankly I’m getting tired of this same song and dance, and even more tired of Arena Net betraying their own philosophies and promises to cater to your lot. So if you don’t like the game or the direction it is going then just leave. We’ll all be a lot happier, and it would have been better for us both had you never picked up the game in the first place.
I think you’re missing the part where Anet tried reaaaaaaaaaaally hard to sell the game on the PvP scene…

I’ll agree to that point, so long as you admit that the e-sport crowd is not the same as the “hardcore” PvE crowd. Last I heard Starcraft and LoL didn’t have raids and endless character progression.

Don’t you know that the people who farm these kinds of things refuse to do anything but the fastest (easiest) content? Those other champions may as well not exist.
I sell them for 3s each on the TP. Never, ever do I buy BL keys to open them.
Three silver each? You must just be listing them without selling, because last time I checked they were going for about one or two copper each.
I delete them. A while back myself and a few others posted the idea to protest RNG boxes as the core form of adding new skins by just deleting every one that appears in game. Not selling them, and certainly not opening them; deleting them.
I’d be lying if I said I knew how that worked out, although I did notice that they at least stopped adding new boxes, and folded the entire practice into the standard BL boxes. Never the less I still delete them, even if I am the only one still protesting.

Engineers are all about the gadgets, alchemy and explosives.
The suggested idea includes none of these..
So a six foot cylindrical device that produces waves of sonic vibration as a means of creating concussive force from a distance doesn’t qualify as a “gadget?”

Equipping and de-equipping does confusion damage.
I’m assuming that is when you use a certain run set, yes? Because I haven’t noticed it doing that…ever.

While I try to remain fairly active on the forums, I haven’t been in game for a bit due to being away from my primary gaming computer/internet connection. Last night I noticed that the trait Cleansing Formula 409 seemed to have been nerfed, now only removing the most recently applied condition per elixir rather than wiping everything as I am used to. I opted to check the last few patch notes but couldn’t find any mention of this.
So, quick question; did I just miss something or is Arena Net trying to be sneaky?
I dislike this for one simple reason: Having one profession at level 80 does not amount to anything for the other professions.
Just because I have 800 hours in my Warrior doesn’t mean I would be any good on a Guardian. Even more ridiculously, how about I go from 200 hours on Thief to 0 on Engineer/Ranger?
Then about the time you slip into some form of PvP or WvW everyone is going to know it. If you change to a profession you can’t play, that is on you. It isn’t like there is any profession specific rewards that you’d be “cheating” into getting.

I posted a bit in a charr thread I saw on the suggestions forum, so lets hope the Legions decide to stand with us.
For you or I perhaps that is true. But you’re neglecting to take into account all the people who go for a given weapon for the prestige of it. People who don’t actually care what the thing looks like, so long as everybody knows what they had to go through to get it. And for those people the idea that someone could just re-color a lesser weapon to look exactly like the one they “worked their butt off” to get is probably offensive.
Sometimes you have to disregard what you would like and think about what the community wants, and based on how most people seem to play the game I’d say it is a safe bet that most players are much more focused on the reward part of “cosmetic reward” and care little for the cosmetic part. A lot of players don’t care what their character looks like, so long as everyone looking is jealous of those “awesome” prestige items.

We Engineers are going to be holding a rally in Lion’s Arch, in protest of having less manpower devoted to fixing issues (both cosmetic and mechanical) due to having fewer players in the Engineer class…which may well be preventing more people from playing it, leading to a self-perpetuating “Let’s look somewhere else” machine.
I could go on a rant about this, but I’d really rather just get to the point.So, without further ado…
I’d like to ask the Charr Legions to attend the rally, as it appears we have the same problem.
- When: 9/17/2013; At present, it’s essentially intended as an all-day thing, with people coming and going as they please.
- But GTAV releases that day: GTAV’s release should not cause an issue in getting the staff’s attention – Anet staff will still be working, in order to hotfix issues, and surely enough of the playerbase to make a showing won’t be playing GTAV on their PCs.
- Where: Lion’s Arch, possibly Mystic Forge. We haven’t selected target servers, so feel free to make suggestions.

Given that some weapons are only distinguishable from others by their colors, I’m going to guess….no. Seriously just take a look at a Mystic Rifle (Needing about fifty skill points and a bunch of Mystic Coins to craft) and a Dark Asuran Rifle (a dungeon reward that you can get in a day or two); identical except one is blue and the other red.
A new gem store item I thought would be desirable to some players. An account bound consumable that when used alters the currently used character’s profession. Consideration is already made for things like equipped weapons and armor, however no consideration is given toward crafting disciplines or other non-profession specific gameplay elements. This item would be available in two versions.
Razah’s Memoirs: Abridged Edition
Alters the character’s profession to any other profession of the same armor class. I.E. adventurer professions such as the thief or ranger can only become other adventurer professions. Currently equipped soul-bound weapons are unequipped and become account bound/soul-bound on use. All used skill and trait points are refunded, and all weapon skill progress is reset. Level, story and world progress, accumulated skill and trait points, and unlocked trait tiers are all preserved.

The protomatter that makes up the Mists strains toward creation, often spawning demonic creations in nightmarish forms. Not all creatures from the Mists are demonic, however. When the Mists come into contact with a suitable human template, for example, it can copy that form, creating a sentient entity with humanoid appearance and an almost human mind.
Razah is one such creation. It has sprung into being a fully-formed adult. It has the knowledge and capabilities of a human, but lacks common sense. As a result, it asks odd questions about human emotions, contemplates human motivations, and attempts to duplicate human mannerisms. Razah is a contradiction: more than human in some ways, and less than human in others. It needs an identity, a personality, and a purpose. Hopefully, it will find its purpose by working with a hero. Otherwise, it could degenerate into an abomination as monstrous and inhuman as its demonic brethren.

Introduced in Guild Wars: Nightfall, Razah was a recruited NPC ally, or “hero” of the ritualist profession. Like all heroes Razah had fully customizable skills and attributes, and his “hero armor” could be outfitted with whatever runes the player desired. Unlike other heroes however Razah had the unique ability to alter his profession to any other profession the player had access to (depending on what versions of the game they owned) at certain select locations in the game world. This was presented as a way of illustrated Razah’s ongoing quest to assimilate into the world and find his unique personality and sense of self. As such spontaneous profession changing exists in Guild Wars lore, although rare, and it stands to reason that others could “cast aside the equipment of their old path and can walk a new one.” For lore and thematic reason I felt that using Razah as a conduit to impart this ability onto the players would be both fitting, and a nice nod to long time series fans.

A while back it was Implied that –at some point- Arena Net would be granting all professions additional weapons, and perhaps eventually have access to all weapons. Since hearing this I’ve felt that the staff was one of the most interesting potential options, largely because no one seems to be able to figure out what to do with it. Most seem to gravitate to electrical attacks, placing the weapon as some time of stun-rod. A good idea, but as has been stated before tends to invoke images of a wind attunement elementalist.
Because of this I thought I would just throw my idea out here for everyone to mull over. This idea wasn’t inspired by other professions, although after forming the initial idea I looked to the warrior for some skills, and the older version of the engineer for others. The core concept here was inspired by the dredge, and is themed heavily around sonic waves and vibration rather than electrical, as I imagine the staff acting as more of a massive, weaponized tuning fork.
1; Bash > Heavy Strike > Helmet Crack
Bash: Bash your foe.
Heavy Strike: Bash your foe again.
Helmet Crack: Smash your foe, making them vulnerable.
2; Obliterate
Spin around and attack all nearby foes.
3; Sound Wave
Fly backward, damaging foes and evading attacks (basically the old Rocket Boots, only minus the self CC).
4; Sonic Boom
Triggers a sonic boom at your location, knocking down foes and dealing massive damage.
5; Resonator Shield
Creates a personal shield that briefly reflects projectiles.
I’m sure many have seen the leaked patchnote thread, and perhaps seen the “Weapon skills that hide your weapon no longer hide your back item” note therein. While we can’t say for sure whether this is factual, the last time I saw leaked patchnotes, they were pretty near spot-on.
If this is the case, then we may well be able to say goodbye to the Era of the Hobosack, and I find the timing a little too convenient to not think this rally may have had something to do with it.
The Rally is still on, however, as the point has become less “Our cosmetic issues have been ignored for a year,” and more “We feel ignored and we’re done taking it lying down.”
Personally, I’ll be bringing Turrets to the Rally if the Hobosack Era is ended – they have potentially resolved one bug that they told us of (by having Turrets focus on player’s last-damaged target, they may have indirectly resolved the World Boss issue), but there’s still another nineteen in waiting.
Well said. If those notes are true then some of our issues have been resolved, but not all. And even though the back item issue may be fixed, it still doesn’t mean anything for those of us going for legendary weapons or the impact kits have on weapon progression.
The rally is still on, and if nothing else I take these patch notes to say that we’re already winning. Preemptive success is a great thing, so pat yourselves on the back, but don’t get lazy. We still have issues that need attention, so lets show Arena Net that our silence can’t be bought just by addressing the two easiest issues to fix.

The source is probably the same article that tells us they’re working on getting all weapons to all classes. It also mentions that there’s to be new skills.

That is because the tool belt…well….sucks. Of all the class mechanics in the game the tool belt is the least interesting and inspired. It basically amounts to a few more utility skills (that aren’t as good as normal utility skills) and that we can’t select. Seriously, would anyone, ever, waste an actual utility slot on Ignite Ammo? Honestly? Burning damage on one attack? And the only time you would actually need it is if you’re using a rifle and don’t have the incendiary powder trait, and in that event you’re likely running a power build so a condition application is worthless.
But making a case for why we need a difference profession mechanic is an entirely separate thread. Feel free to make it.

The point I was trying to make is that being all spiteful and pessimistic does nothing. Whining about how the devs ignore us doesn’t make them more likely to notice us, and complaining about how we have issues doesn’t actually fix them.
Such is the reason for this.
Just posting threads and hoping for the best also does nothing. I’m sorry to be the one to steal your rose tinted glasses, but if we want Arena Net to pay attention and address our issues then we’re going to have to make them pay attention. If this protest fails then we already have ideas to attempt to crash a server. If they keep ignoring us after that…well, we can always flood into and ruin every developer live stream.

Just because devs don’t post here, don’t assume they don’t read here. Give them the benefit of the doubt. Being spiteful towards them just gives us a whiny and mopey appearance, which actually makes us less likely to get positive attention. I understand where you’re coming from, but you don’t need to be as cynical as you are.
You’re new here aren’t you? The developers ignoring us is a known fact. Heck they’ve even admitted, in so many words, that they don’t care about us. Colin, I believe it was, said that they were focusing on larger player demographics and engineers, along with charrs, are too small of a percentage to worry about. Add to that the fact that our threads can get tens of thousands of views and thumbs up and yet never see a dev response, or the fact that Arena Net insisted that our Scope trait was working as intended until someone posted about it in the PvP forums to force them to pay attention and it is pretty clear that Arena Net isn’t paying attention.
This issue has been run into the ground. Repeatedly. By me.
I’ve made multiple treads on the subject and the only dev response has been Colin saying what amounts to “we know, but we’re not going to do anything about it.” I invite you to the engineer sub-forum to further discuss in other threads, and please RSVP to our upcoming engineer protest rally on the 17th.

Okay, just got in (been out of town) so I can put a little more focus on this. I think I’ll go ahead and throw out a few server ideas. Given that there is no low/med population servers in the American region, I’m going to second the vote for Anvil Rock, and throw in Borlis Pass because it is my home server. That said I think what would be best is to all agree on a primary server (I’m thinking Anvil Rock, only because it got two votes so far), and then vote on a secondary. Beyond Anvil I don’t really care, so I leave that to you guys.
For EU I’m actually going to vote for Ring of Fire (seconding the above vote) and call for Vabbi beyond that, simply because I would like to see if we have enough support to bump a med pop up to high or very high. Now that said I have a few more things to add.
Overflow issue: Should you find yourself in an overflow instead of the main server, just go ahead and start a secondary rally as best you can, and wait for your chance to get into the main server. Once you’re in however I must insist that you stay in as long as you can. Ideally I’d like to lock down Lion’s Arch so that only engineers and charrs who are participating are in the main server, but that may be asking a bit much.
Clothing: I’ll second the call for Seeker’s armor simply because it is cheap and low level, making it easy for everyone to get access to it. Go with the darkest shade of black/grey you have access to.
Time: I say just come on whenever you can for as long as you can. The longer we keep the server packed the more attention we’ll be getting.
Flame throwers: For the engineers participating, the flame thrower is our most visually striking kit due to all the flame effects, so I would suggest using it and making as big a scene as you can, as often as you can. We’re not trying to crash the server, yet, but we want people to notice that we’re there and not just a typical post event vender zerg. So try to draw some attention.
Emotes: I would say cry would be the best. Threaten may present the wrong idea for the first rally. I wish there was a /complain emote, but in its absence whining will have to suffice.
No. We had a trade channel in guild wars one. No one ever used it we had nothing but map chat spam of wts or wtb. I like the system as it is now. I do not see any reason why p2p trading is needed. It would open more problems then it would fix.
It’s not needed. At all. And believe it or not it I personally don’t want it either. But, of course, that isn’t going to stop people from asking for it. So I figured since it probably will be added eventually, I may as well go on record of how I think it should be done, and what I think would minimize the problems with it (such as giving the overall community the ability to flag and suppress trade spam in map chat rather than relying on moderators to do so).
This is a gem store item (pay for connivance) costing 400 gems for a weekly pass, or 2000 gems for a lifetime pass. This item is account wide, and unlocks direct player-to-player trading of items and coin. However there are certain things it does to maintain the same level of fairness and transparency as the trading post, as well as to maintain the trading post as a valid form of trading for most players.
Feature #1: Displays server wide prices. Similar to a sale page at amazon, when someone starts a trade and displays an item the window will automatically display that same item at competitive prices from the trading post. As with amazon it is a simple “also for sale for X” message. An example would be “also available for 10 silver and up.” Meaning that the buyer could find the same item for sell on the trading post for at least 10 silver. This way the seller cannot scam the buyer.
Feature #2: Trade tax. Basically there to maintain the gold-sink aspect of the trading post, someone (buyer or seller) will have to pay the standard listing fee/tax for the items they are selling. However this fee can be split between both parties, or handled by either party. This way, in the event of trading two items (the server price for both items would be displayed so both players can make an educated judgment of if the asking price is worth it to them) the two players can spilt the listing fee for their trade.
Feature #3: Trade chat. A new chat window specifically for buying and selling items. Instead of being server or area wide however trade chat can only be seen by players with a trade license. This would also include a new report option for all players, allowing them to flag any trade spam in map or local chat as trade and have that players next few messages automatically sent to trade chat.
Feature #4: Trade log. All transactions made this would automatically be announced in trade chat, for example after a transaction you could get something to the effect of “player A traded [Zapp] to player B for [Dusk]” or some such. Likewise this message would have a time stamp to it saved on the server, and that can be reviewed by support if asked to pull up detailed records of all messages sent and received by players A and B during the time of the trade (when the trade window was open). This can be used to resolve trade disputes between players.
Feature #5: Trade review flags. High value items would automatically be tagged for trade review by support and go into a pending state. While the trade does go through as normal, for a limited span of time all traded items would be tagged as having joint ownership between their past and current owners, and become non-tradable for that duration. This is to give each person time to review the trade and make any claims of abuse to support. Because the high value trades are already flagged it would be easier for support to find them, review what happened, and (if need be) cancel the trade. If no claim is made within a limited time the trade is taken off the review list, and the items and coin traded become the sole property of their intended player.
If I were you, I’d be running a virus scan about now….
An engineer suggestion? Prepare to be ignored. Engineers make up -at best- 10% of the community, so Arena Net has actually stated that they won’t be doing anything for us. They are focusing on professions and issues that make up a larger group.
Actually crashing a server, while it would probably get somebody banned, would likely only get the instigators banned – myself, and Arkham Creed. Personally, if that’s what it took to make them realize that while we might not be a majority of the playerbase, we’re enough to require attention, I’d be willing to accept a ban.
Agreed. If that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes. I’ll enjoy my time off relaxing and basking in the knowledge that Arena Net wouldn’t be able to deny the problem any longer.

Girlfriend also suggests all of us dressing in the same set of armor, preferably dark-colored, with masks, while doing it.
If either of these things A ) happen and B ) work to get the Hobosack issue fixed, I’d also like a turret rally to be considered.
Seconded. Also I’d suggest using the throw mine skill and its tool belt. We all gather around in the same server, scatter our mines, and right when the server resets……simultaneous detonation.
Heck, we might even crash the server. I doubt it, but that would certainly get noticed.
Hey wait let’s be smart about this lets all meet up in black gates server and spam in lions arch. Most populated server demands most eyes by people in arenanet.
Most populated server also means less space for guests. If you think Black Gate has a large enough native engineer population to get noticed then by all means go there. I think it would be wiser to flood a lower population server, and hopefully bump it up to full. That kind of sudden population spike will be a lot more noticeable than a very-high pop server becoming full for the millionth time.
Just an idea of mine. How about on September 17th, the next patch day, we try to organize an engineer sit-in in Lion’s Arch. I was thinking around the Mystic Forge. We all guest into the same few servers, equip or favorite (or least favorite) kit and hang out, spamming our displeasure in map chat, perhaps singing our little protest songs, and generally making ourselves known.
Arena Net has made a habit of ignoring these issues for far too long, giving us at most two half-hearted and uncommitted responses over the last year, so let’s do something they can’t just sweep into some sub-forum and wish away. Screen shots and youtube videos encouraged, obviously. I, for one, and tired of this crap, so I say we start taking steps to force them to acknowledge this issue on a wider scale. Comment below to RSVP or offer any suggestions you may have. Clearly we need to pick a server for each region ahead of time, so suggestions for that would be helpful. Obviously we need a server that isn’t always full so we can actually all get in.
If the precursor was created with relics and there was no way to buy these relics, only then it would feel like you had a goal.
Sounds a lot like what they did with Ascended weapons and the new account bound materials needed for them. Relics, mats….same thing. And if not crafting how do you suggest we “build” a precursor? I mean building something is pretty much the definition of crafting.
Finally, as to hard mode, that has been confirmed a no-go. Colin himself said in a recent PAX interview that they were not going to do that because they didn’t want to further divide the community and make it even harder to find a group for the content you want/need to play.
