When a elite spec turns into a meme you know something went wrong in the design process.
Please ArenaNet, i don’t want to play a meme, please change the name AND theme of this elite spec.
Keep the LongBow. Keep the traps.
But remove the “dragon big game hunter” theme.
Will condi guard even be possible?
Yes burning will stack, but applying multiple burning on multiple targets is hard, plus we only get bleed on traps and they have a long cooldown and are problematic to use.
We need condi consistently being applied with our Longbow. Something like every critical strike applys a bleed or burning or some unique condi that only guardians have access too.
Maybe add a 25% speed increase whenever ‘Wings of Resolve’ is used?
It isn’t perma speed but at least it gives us access to swiftness outside of traits, weapons, and shouts.
Or just give us another Virtue: Virtue of Speed
You know, there is a game about hunting and killing demons called diablo III
in it, there is a class called demonhunter
yes, all classes hunt demons, but this one is called demon hunter.
But Demon Hunters in Diablo are dark, filled with hate and rage, they are savage, wanting nothing but the blood of their enemies.
Taken from the wiki:
“Some say that Demon Hunters are no better than the demons they hunt, that they bring death and destruction with them. And indeed, sometimes, a Demon Hunter loses their ability to control their fear or hatred, and consequently lose themselves to their violent impulses. Many Demon Hunters’ eyes glow with hellfire, due to peering into demons and seeing vengeance.”
That sounds nothing like what a Guardian should be, maybe it would work on a Warrior or Ranger, but not a Guardian.
I don’t think anyone will be running full traps, i think we will be swapping utilities in and out all the time depending on the situation.
Plot Twist: Kralkatorrik didn’t kill Glint, a Dragon Hunter did, because Dragon hunters are stupid enough to believe all dragons and their minions are evil.
Don’t worry about Caithe, it’s the Dragon Hunters who are the biggest threat to Glints egg.
Sighduck…
What happens when we receive our second elite specialisation? Do we stop hunting dragons?
If the dragons are such a massive threat to Tyria shouldn’t we not only stay specd Dragon Hunter forever, but also teach every other profession to become Dragon Hunters?
Because apparently Dragon Hunters are the only profession in the entire universe of Guild Wars 2 that is specifically focused on killing dragons.
‘The Librarian’
Guardians next Elite Specialisation!
Snip.
I said I would rather have Witch Hunter if they want to go that route with Hunter, someone on the HOT post is suggesting DivineHunter now which is something I would also be alright with.
What childish Mindset are you talking about? If you are using other games as a comparision those with dragon in their class names are related in some way to dragons. We know its a unified force of multi talented people fighting the dragons, and their spawn. But there is no clear rivalry that designates a guardian with longbow as the clear hunter of dragons that is better at it than the over classes.
It actually Cheapens the value to say this Guardian is specializing as a Dragon Hunter, when you have a clear Chronomancer, Druid, and Tempest. Now you’ve probably never studied language or history to my extent, but you shouldn’t need to in order to see that calling this Dragonhunter sounds like a 2nd rate pedestrian in comparison.
I’ll say it again because I’m sure people are just going to skim through it…A holy warrior SPECIALIZING in hunting the Dragons and their minions. The other classes don’t have SPECIALIZATIONS named things like that because the other classes aren’t SPECIALIZING in hunting and killing the Dragons and their minions from a lore standpoint. The “Holy Warriors” e.g. Guardians are. There’s a difference between fighting and killing something out of necessity, and actively wanting to. .
So where is my 10% damage buff when fighting dragons?
Where in our skills or traits do we get an advantage over every other profession in fighting dragons?
That is the ONLY way the name “Dragon Hunter” will work, if we are going to specialise in hunting down and killing these dragons then lore wise and gameplay wise we need a distinct advantage over every other profession.Try reading my post again then get back to me. I’ve already answered everything you’ve just typed out there. Thanks for showing you’re either trying to selectively use things to further your own opinion/agenda or you don’t care enough to read somebody’s entire post. If it’s the latter then you’ve completely discredited yourself and I’ll refrain from even acknowledging yours in the future.
I did read your post, i assume your referring to your last paragraph in particular where you have successfully proven why Dragon Hunter is such a terrible name:
“yes every class is able to fight just as effectively because if they couldn’t then there wouldn’t really be a game now would there be?”
Lore and Gameplay are intertwined, you can’t have one without the other. Lore wise it is extremely flimsy logic, but when also applied to gameplay it is completely broken and illogical.

A couple notes on Dragonhunter. We went with this name because we felt it was evocative of the medieval witch hunters. Guardians consider themselves protectors of the innocent. Followers of their faith be it in honor, valor, etc. The origin of the dragonhunter is a more subtle nuanced version of this. Guardians fight for justice and the dragonhunter faction believes justice is the eradication of dragons and their minions. I understand this is a lot more high concept than Mesmer but at the end of the day we felt like we wanted to try and push a more mature theme here. I hope this helps explain our thinking. We had other generic names in mind but felt like it was important to have a mix of spec names that are generic fantasy, more Tyrian fantasy, and more high concept. This one falls more in the third category.
Thanks,
Jon
I understand the logic but it fails to apply to this game, not all dragons are evil Glint, and possibly her egg, are allies. Not all Sylvari are corrupt, and the ones who are we (the guardian) should be seeking to save them, not hunt them.
If dragons were not the main enemy of the game and not a key element to the story then i would agree with you, but where is the distinction between DragonHunters and every other profession Hunting Dragons?
Do DragonHunters have an advantage over every other profession when it comes to fighting dragons? Do we receive a 10% buff when fighting dragons for example? Are DragonHunters now the only profession in game capable of defeating the elder dragons?
A. Dragon Hunter, in a game in which the main story and expansion, revolve around dragons, I think it is a spectacular name.
Dragon Hunter, in a game where every single profession hunts dragons.
A game where every single profession follows the story of HUNTING DRAGONS.
It is a terrible name, you know it, i know it, the devs know it.
I wouldn’t be surprised, it did sound kinda over powered in its original form.
It would be very easy for them to remove the dragon theme from this specialisation.
Rename the following:
LongBow 5 skill “Hunter’s Ward”.
Elite Trap “Dragon’s Maw”.
Traits “Hunter’s Determination”, “Hunter’s Fortification” and “Big Game Hunter”.
The elite spec name “DragonHunter”—>That would take the devs less then a hour to do.
Change the following:
The animation for “Dragon’s Maw”.
Sell the unique Longbow and Glove skins on the gem store, give us new unique skins not Dragon themed.—>This would take slightly longer to do compared to name changes, but should still be easy to do.
Done. I just fixed this elite spec, you are welcome ArenaNet
You didn’t fix anything. The name has nothing to do with gameplay, and given the explanation from the Ready up, have a valid lore reason now. The difference between DH players, and non DH players is lore wise, the DH players are going to be more suspicious and aggressive towards Sylvari, and the like.
I still don’t understand why everyone is acting like the name is a big deal. ArenaNet should just keep it as is, insteading of wasting time brainstorming about another name. Sure, they could be lazy and just name the DH a Paladin, or any other word for Guardian, but since it’s just a name, and not gameplay, why change it? It’s such a shallow criticism.
People have been more critical about the name of a specialization, than most of the other things announced so far. Some people like the name, others don’t, most people care more about its gameplay, so who should they listen to? In this case, Anet shouldn’t change the names of things, unless there’s a valid reason; like if there’s a skill named Holocaust or something. They gave a lore reason as to what the DH is, and its fine. It’s too subjective to make a big deal about it.
There is no valid lore reason, they gave no valid lore reason, the guy in the live stream struggled to find words, you could see the looks on their faces that they knew the name was stupid and completely illogical.
Guardians should NOT be “more suspicious and aggressive towards Sylvari” that goes against everything the Guardian represents. It goes against it’s entire values, morals, gameplay, EVERYTHING. We should be PROTECTING Sylvari!
The overwhelming majority hate the name, the overwhelming majority hate the illogical dragon theme they obviously forced into this specialisation at the very last minute.
The name and theme of a class is SUPER important, otherwise i would just play a ranger. I don’t want to play a ranger! I want to play a holy warrior who protects his allies with the light.
If names and theme of a class are not important they might as well call Necromancers “Emos” and make them shoot flying pink birds that sing Lady Gaga when they hit the enemy.

I wish they didn’t show Beta footage in POI, it has attracted a toxic crowed of players to the live-streams. I enjoy watching POI, i enjoy the fan art, i enjoy the casual banter of the panel.
All these new viewers who have never watched POI before are super annoying me, i wish they would all go away or at least be respectful and not troll chat.
In the recent ‘Points of Interest’ live-stream more of the first ‘Heart Of Thorns’ map (Verdant Brink) was revealed. While gliding, a large chasm was seen filled with giant Mordrem Vines, this area appears to be called the ‘Vine Filled Abyss’.
It appeared that this area has no ground floor, similar to the Heart of the Mists. While the player was gliding it looked like the map just vanished into nothing, and once the gliders endurance ran out the player fell to there death within the abyss.
This concerns me, endless abyss’s are not fun within environments such as these. This is NOT the Mists. This is the Maguuma Jungle, there must be a forest floor, and if these giant Mordrem Vines have ripped through that floor then we should be able to go beneath the land, not fall straight through it.
My complaint is perhaps premature however, as the player fell into the ‘Vine Filled Abyss’ a notification popped up warning that they were leaving the Beta area and would be teleported back to land. This could be a sign that there is no abyss, and this area is only temporary to restrict players from accessing the Forest Floor of the Jungle. The developers did say that HoT maps are composed of three different biomes, the canopy, the forest floor, and root systems. Perhaps the ‘Forest Floor’ and ‘Root System’ were not ready to be seen within this Beta build?
One other concern, that i assume will be fixed in a latter build, was the Giant Mordrem Vines within the Abyss had noclipping, passing straight through them while gliding removes the feeling that Mordremoth is a threat, and also takes away some of the games immersion.
Hopefully there will be no Abyss in the live version, it will ruin the map, ruin exploration, ruin immersion.
Did you watch the movie? It gives some hints on the scale of those maps, and holy kitten, they look huge.
That video does not show us how big or small the new maps are. We still haven’t received any information on there size. That video only shows some of the verticality that we will receive, not overall map size.
What exactly are these massive design flaws? I have had nothing but fun in those maps.
I had fun too. HAD fun. Just like we all HAD fun in Southsun Cove… look how that turned out. Dry Top and The Silverwastes are good temporary end game maps, but they will be dead, just like Southsun Cove, once Heart of Thorns launches.
I would much rather see large maps that even after two plus years people still discover fun and interesting things. ArenaNet are setting themselves up for temporary gain, long term pain.
(edited by Arnath.2319)
I am concerned about some of the information given in the latest Heart of Thorns blog post, seen here:
Everything mentioned within that post sounds fantastic, however i am concerned with two key points that i would like some clarification on.
1. There is still no mention on the number of new maps we will receive in HoT. We know there will be more then one, but ArenaNet are deliberately going out of their way to stress the number of new maps we will receive in HoT will be significantly less then what ArenaNet have traditionally given us in the past. This scares me. While i strongly agree with quality > quantity, the fewer maps the quicker people will be asking for another expansion/more content. Dry Top and The Silverwastes are already becoming dead maps because the area is so small with the same repeatable content.
2. While ‘The Silverwastes’ and ‘Dry Top’ are fun end-game maps filled with content, there is far to much happening in such a tiny space. The maps are microscopic in size, it is overwhelming! The only reason these two maps currently work so well is because at the end of the day we get to leave them. We get to return to Lions Arch and relax, or go to Lornar’s Pass and take-in the stunning scenery. We have other options to remove us from the chaos, Living Story did a great job at sending us away from The Silverwastes and Dry Top, it was a nice break from the compact zerg-grind-fest.
Look at the large maps currently in game, still too this very day veteran players are only now discovering events, locations, npc, dialogue that have been there since day one. I have 100% world completion and yet every single map i enter is still exciting and new to me, there is always something new for me to find… Dry Top and The Silverwastes fail this significantly. There is nothing new to discover in these maps, they are filled with content yet at the same time i have seen, done, experienced, every single thing within those maps i have become repulsed by them. They have become nothing more then the current hip cool zerg-grind-fest that will be completely abandoned once HoT Launches, these maps will be dead, no one will ever step foot in those maps for the remaining for GW2 lifespan, just like Southsun Cove.
Please learn from the mistakes of Southsun Cove, Dry Top, and The Silverwastes.
(edited by Arnath.2319)
I do not understand why ArenaNet are deliberately trying to kill this game!
Almost ZERO content has been added since release, and any content that is added is either finished within an hour or removed.
What is going on at AN headquarters? Why have they completely given up all hope with this game? Do they have any plans for the future? Do they care about there customers? Are the developers fighting? Is there not enough money?
The decisions AN have made over the last two years have been shockingly bad, secrets, lies, back-flips, the developers are abusing us.
They clearly have NO idea what direction to take this game in, and even if they did make a decision they would most likely scrap it within weeks, changing there minds multiple times.
Living World has improved story telling from Season One, but the the drip-feeding of extremely little content and a highly predictable story makes Season One superior to Season Two… which is extremely depressing considering how horrible Season One was!
Colin Johanson said before Season Two started that if Living World wasn’t a success they wouldn’t continue to force it down our throats, they would admit defeat and change there strategy. IT IS TIME TO ADMIT DEFEAT ARENA NET!
The only thing capable of saving this game now is an expansion, a massive expansion early 2015. Even then this game is on thin wire. The developers need to STOP LYING to us, they need to be 100% honest about the future of this game, they need to tell us there plans!
Thanks for ruining Christmas ArenaNet.
(edited by Arnath.2319)
Request to make this an armour set please ArenaNet!
Also make more armour sets in this theme, this game is lacking in the ‘royal knight in shining armour’ armour.
As has been hinted, the biggest issue is drawing a line to determine the difference between an ‘outfit’ and a set of armor.
I would certainly call the cook’s outfit an ‘outfit’, not so much the ceremonial plate, though.
THIS x100
Outfits should be like dressing up for Halloween, the cook, the witch, the pirate, mad king, bloody prince, the executioner….. these all make sense!
But this new outfit looks like it should be worn by a Divinity Reach noble guard or something, it should be a heavy armour exclusive outfit at the very least.
It scares me that on the front page were the advertise this latest outfit they boast about how your non heavy armour classes can now wear heavy armour, that disgusts me greatly.
Seriously disappointed ArenaNet.
They listened to feedback and added Belindas Greatsword, so maybe they will listen and add this outfit as a six piece armour set for heavy armour wearers only too. They wont remove the current outfit from the gemstore now, sadly it’s to late, damage done.
Add this outfit as a six piece heavy armour exclusive ArenaNet! I will never buy the outfit, but i will gladly pay 1000 gems for armour.
The problem is ArenaNet are making it up as the go along.
These last few years have been one big open beta test, they had no idea they were going to do the living story till after the game launched, and only now are they starting to feel comfortable with it and even then it’s still seriously flawed.
Where as other MMO’s have things planned out years in advance, Guild Wars 2 is one big mess, its trying to be a ‘Walking Dead’/‘The Wolf Among Us’ episodic minimal content story telling game, but at the same time trying to be a serious mmo with PVE content, but they are also trying to put a heavy focus on making PVP a e-sport like dota.
And they deliberately look for the cheapest, quickest, big money making way to get things done.
We seem to have a range weapon to compliment some of our melee weapons.
Hammer —> Staff (ok close range dps and support)
Sword —> Sceptre (high single target dps)
I think the Longbow would compliment the Greatsword:
Greatsword —> Longbow (high aoe dps, rainging arrows that heal do damage and leave symbol, aoe dot with pull/knockback/some second effect.
Considering Guardians have been ignored by the devs mostly since launch of the game, mainly because we are in a “good spot”, i think we should be the first class to receive a new weapon to spice things up.
It’s been a long time since they’ve released an armor set, yet they’ve released several outfits. This better not be the death of armor. One of my favorite things about GW2 was the customization, if they take that away it isn’t GW2 anymore.
Over on Reddit a new armour set has been datamined in it’s very early stages, there is no texture to it yet, just a basic grey outline for each race and gender. So it appears that they still plan to add full sets of armour to the game. That being said you are correct we are seeing less and less armours in the gem store and more and more Outfits in there place.
Outfits are horrible, if i want to mix match a chef hat with a pirate captain chest and witches legs and wear that around town and into battle i should be allowed too do just that!
I have added a screenshot of the ‘Ceremonial Plated Outfit’ to my original post so everyone can see how this is not the standard Outfit we usually see. This should clearly be a heavy armour set exclusive.
The only armour that comes close to being kinda “prestigious” currently in game is the tier 3 cultural armour sets, and that is only because they have a decent gold sink.
I am happy that the PVP community will receive a unique armour set, but i am so sick and tired of wearing the Human Heavy Tier 3 Cultural armour set! I have been wearing it since launch!
It’s time that PVE had some good looking new armour that is attainable via either a gold sink or difficult content.
Ascended gear is the only set of armour that has been added to the game since launch, how many years has this game been out and they have only made ONE new armour set?! UNEXCEPTABLE!!! (Lemongrab voice)
Also keep in mind that PVP requires less unique armour sets because the difficulty of getting them is significantly higher.
Prestigious PVE set: obtainable by everyone within there own time and theme/look of armour sets change in relation with the story being tolled.
Prestigous PVP set: obtainable by everyone interested in PVP, time restricted, rewarded to those who rank highly/first place in tournaments, theme/look of set is not based on current story meaning it can look like anything and wont need to change as much to relate.
(edited by Arnath.2319)
If they do not have precursor crafting this patch this game is dead to me.
It is disgusting that the number one most requested feature since the games launch has been delayed for this long.
I would also like to see new legendary weapons added, different weapons added to classes, significant class balance and new armour sets.
I would really like to see the LongBow added.
But what if I want fancy metal-looking armor outfit for my engineer? I don’t mind outfits personally so long as they vary in styles.
You are an Engineer, it is completely illogical for you to be wearing extremely heavy clunky armour in combat.
If you want to wear heavy armour, re-roll a warrior or a guardian.
Data-miners over at reddit have discovered that a new Outfit will be available soon, most likely via the gem store. It is called the ‘Ceremonial Plated Outifit’, it looks like a heavy armour set but all professions will be able to wear it.
Outfits are extremely lazy.
Despite this, i was willing to let them slide, after-all most of the Outfits change you into something slightly comical, like dressing up for a costume party, the Mad King, the Witch, the Cook, they make sense…
…but introducing a Outfit that (in my personal opinion) would have been the most stunningly beautiful heavy armour set that this game has ever seen is incredibly unfair considering the lack of unique armour you release into this game.
Also take into consideration, i do not want to see elementalists and thiefs running around in a heavy armour set. This has serious negative implications.
If you have any respect for the GW2 community please, do not go through with selling this as a Outfit on the gem store.
I beg of you ArenaNet, do something worthwhile with your time and release ‘Ceremonial Plated’ heavy armour as a six piece set only wearable by heavy armour uses.
I know Outfits are the quick lazy way of making it appear like you are adding new customisation options to this game but the overwhelming majority of players despise them, and in reality they LIMIT our customisation options.
I don’t care if it takes you months to program this set to individual pieces, i don’t care if you have to design unique light and medium sets to sell along side the heavy one.
Please, this is a extremely radically dangerous path to go down. With major negative consequences to the game. Stop the Outfits, before it’s to late.
Edit: This what the Outfit looks like on a human male. As you can see there is more effort and detail in this one outfit then all the Ascended armours combined.
(edited by Arnath.2319)
ArenaNet themselves admitted that they originally planned NOT to have levels, that they didn’t like them, and that they would have preferred to have everything available to the player as soon as they create a character, every zone equal level of difficulty.
The only reason ArenaNet changed there mined is because they felt us the players needed “direction” when playing the game.
So basically the only reason levelling up exists in this game is because ArenaNet thinks were stupid….
They should just remove it. It was there original plan… oh wait ArenaNet abandoned all there original plans and concepts for this game.
Account bound legendaries is something people have been wanting SINCE FOREVER.
No, people have been wanting it forever because it was something that should have been that way since since that feature was first introduced, ascended items should have always been account bound.
It is cheap and lazy of ANet to try and claim this as a feature when it is really more of a “bug fix”.
Everything they are adding/changing is good, but extremely underwhelming.
ANet said the reason we are having this feature patch is so they can highlight (show off) all the really cool new features in game that would otherwise go unnoticed in other patches.
Once again ANet super mega hyped this patch to be the saving grace that this game desperately needed, they allowed the speculation to run rampart they deliberately got our hopes up only to disappoint.
The wardrobe and the reworked runes/sigils are the only features announced so far, everything else is quality of life fixes that should of been done at release. Account wide dyes for example, a dev confirmed dyes would be account bound back in Beta!
Also what is with the EXTREMELY misleading blog post titles, the most recent blog was titled “removing restrictions”, that suggested a huge amount of possible changes. I think ANet deliberately did this to mislead players, to deliberately get there expectations high only to crush them.
So what counts as a “feature”?
Guild Missons
Precursor crafting / scavenger hunt
Player Housing
Guild Halls
New proffesion
New class
New race
so on…
Free re-traits and free armour repairs are NOT features and could have easily been slipped in some living story patch notes.
You’ve been rangered. Congrats.
Seriously though, I’d agree that the guardian changes were kind of meh all around. Is a perma burn that deals x8 bleed damage enough to make a condi guardian viable? Dunno…
The only thing that will make a condi guard viable is ArenaNet giving guardians more conditions, one is not enough.
At the very least i expected a rework on spirit weapons considering they have been broken since release.
Spirit weapons have been the number one most discussed issue on the guardian forums since release, yet they have received the least amount of attention.
If ArenaNet actually visited the guardian forums more often they might have known this.
Guardians are “in a good spot” = Not allowed to have fun.
#ArenaNetLogic
guardians “in a good place” = not allowed to have fun, ignore broken mechanics.
ArenaNet logic?
I feel incredibly stupid for getting my hopes up, for a moment there i thought maybe in this big features patch ArenaNet would finally take the opportunity to address the many issues this class has… but no, MORE nerfs, and boring/useless grand master talents.
Every other profession has received at least one “omg that’s amazing” trait. Every other profession has received a “oh that’s cool/interesting looks like allot of fun” trait. Guardians get “100% useless” traits, and “meh boring nothing exciting or fun” traits.
Even if guardians were super OP (which they are not) we should still see quality of life improvements, or changes to make this profession more FUN, remember fun? Its something i would like to have when i play this game.
I am so frustrated, they clearly have no idea what they are doing with this profession. The new grand master traits are incredibly bad and show us very clearly that AreaNet are ignoring guardians completely.
I think this is the killing blow for me, i am so sick of guardians getting nothing but nerfs since release while never receiving any significant class changes/balances. Meanwhile in every single update every other profession get super mega massive buffs.
Guardians are not the best class in the game, just because we are in a “okay position” dose not mean we should be ignored while other professions become EXTREMELY OP.
“We want to let you know that the ability to build your precursor will not be in our upcoming Feature Pack. The way progression and rewards work in Guild Wars 2 have changed quite a bit since we initially talked about that feature, and our main horizontal progression systems are about to get some additional updates in the upcoming feature pack. Because of that, we are looking into several ways to integrate building your precursor into our new updated reward and progression systems we’re working on, which is requiring additional development time and iteration. As always, we’ll share details on this system once it’s far enough along in production we’re ready to discuss it.” -Mark Katzbach
This is highly ridiculous.
How many times now have AreaNet lied to us? I can’t keep track anymore.
This was the number one most requested feature to be added since the launch of the game and they are still delaying it.
This feature should have been added in 2012, now we will be lucky to get by the end of 2015 if not later.
I am furious, i have every right to be furious, politicians lie less than ArenaNet.
But do not worry, instead we will get more horrible living world updates, more pointless zergs and achievement grinds that EVERYBODY hates.
This patch is hands down my favourite since the release of the game, such a superb amount of effort has gone into this patch and it really shows. The attention to detail is exquisite, no ugly zergs, no achievement grinds, just a superbly delivered, subtle, yet powerful advancement in the story.
Walking around Lions Arch made me tear up, the music is magnificent, truly some of the best in game music i have ever heard creating the perfect atmosphere. The attention to detail, the lighting, swimming down to the drill and seeing the magic seeping through and the rumbles of a new threat awoken. Walking along i find a graveyard with a npc crying, the billboard of all the people dead or missing… this is the first time since the games release that i actually felt something for this city, for these characters.
The story really needed to be darker and this patch delivers on that. You could have easily added stray mobs into the city, add an achievement to kill 50 Looters, but thankfully you didn’t, you kept it hauntingly depressingly beautiful and simplistic.
However my favourite thing in this patch, and indeed my favourite thing since this games release, was seeing Laranthir of the Wild again. When i talked to him and he addressed me as Commanded i got chills, instant flashbacks to when this game was first released and i was madly in love and addicted. I was starting to think that everyone on Tyria was suffering from mass amnesia and forgot that i was a Commander that slayed an Elder Dragon.
Despite the flaws of the personal story, it was so overwhelmingly refreshing to once again feel connected to my personal story. It always bugged me that there was this massive leap from becoming a commander that united the orders to slay a elder dragon to instantly becoming a nobody who attended dragon bash festivals and voted in elections.
I feel important again, i feel like the story from levels 1-80 was not a complete waste of time, The Pact have returned, Trahearne has sent a ship to investigate Mordremoths awakening, just that one npc recognising me and acknowledging me has made me fall madly in love with this game once again.
Is this bugged? I am 100% convinced this is bugged, it would not surprise me considering the massive amount of bugs this patch has.
I have been trying for hours, literally hours, and the fact that i cant skip the cutscene is driving me crazy, i have seen it so many times now i hate the good guys as equally as i hate scarlet.
I have followed the guides perfectly, this has to be bugged, has to be.
Edit: i can confirm that this is bugged as off 12/03/14

It is time for the moderates to close this thread, it has been derailed by extremely homophobic comments. I find it extremely insulting, and highly distressing to see such extremists preaching hate.
There is nothing wrong with being gay, ArenaNet are NOT making a political statement, love is love. If you find same-sex attraction offensive then perhaps you should stop playing this game.
ArenaNet are NOT “shoving homosexuality in our faces”, they are NOT “picking sides”, they are NOT creating controversy. They are doing the morally right thing by being part of a loving, healthy, progressive, civil society.

I’m sorry that you feel like heterosexual relationships are not being represented in game, you must be so overwhelmed by the massively over-representation of heterosexual couples in game that you have become blind to it. Wouldn’t it be nice if homosexual couples got that equal treatment?

“We’re currently working on a system that will better direct players through Living World content. Eventually, it will also provide story context for LW and other content types. The first phase of the system should be ready before the end of the year.
I am hopeful that some of the new systems that we have in development (the LW tracking system, journal tracking, etc.) will make it easier for folks to make sense of the long-term story." -BobbyStein
Is the Atlas what Bobby was talking about back in September?
Lets hope not.

If this was an in game feature i would be impressed.
It has been a massive problem ever since the Living Story started that players were forced to go to websites in order to follow the story. ArenaNet acknowledge this was a massive problem and said they were working on an in game solution so players can keep track of the story in game.

We should not have to go to a website to follow the story, get exclusive content, this should all be in game. This has been one of the top complaints of the living story and this Atlas only makes things significantly worse.
How about instead of hunting down secrets on this Atlas you allow players to hunt down those secrets IN GAME, creating content and immersing people in the story.
This Atlas tears people out of the story immersion, it only contributes to the massively growing problem of poor in game story telling, and is waste of developer resources.

The shoulders are Human Tier 2
Gloves are Toxic Gloves from gem store
The legs are Draconic armor, craftable and buyable on TP
Not sure about boots and chest sorry.
I am curious if ArenaNet have a plan for them.
The Tengu were originally going to be a playable race at launch but ArenaNet changed there minds last minute, they said they liked the race and there is huge potential with them and strongly hinted that they would be added as a playable race in the future….
But they are creating a problem lore wise, even if the Tengu did decide to join us we would refuse there help now that they have slaughtered our people, unless….
The Tengu are a very old race and it is said that they know secrets about the Elder Dragons, what if the Tengu finally come to us for help, and we are forced to help them in exchange for there knowledge, thus making them a playable race.
We know that the Tengu are having problems with Primordus forces already.
