@ the OP:
With any MMO, even great ones, the call for “More Better Content” is universal. Usually it happens between 4 and 6 months after release.
Part of that comes from the game. A lot of games simply do not have enough to start with, and never quite “get it” that people are diverse and crave different things. Some people like fluff (Holiday events, dancing, minigames, etc…) Others like dungeons, and yet others like to wander around and explore.
Part of the issue comes from the players themselves as they outlevel and chew through the existing content as fast as they possibly can, and then hang out in the central hub looking bored and crying “there’s nothing to do…”
GW2 is 7 months old. Almost 8. There were people who hit 80 within days of release. I would wager that they are already on to the next shiney unless they just did it to prove they could. I have guildies who have a full stable of level 80s that log in to do dailies, and that’s it. Others, like me, have 1 level 80 character and still have a LOT of the world to see.
You have raised some valid issues, but expecting everyone else to believe exactly the way you do is like expecting everyone in the world to like Haggis. There are those that do, and those who don’t. It’s that simple.
TLDR;
The game has a lot. Just because you personally think it’s not enough doesn’t mean everyone else does.
I love the Pact staff. It looks great. My only complaint is that the glow effect on the shaft could be a bight more defined. It doesn’t really pulse like I feel it should.
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x464/weezer1201/Pact_Quarterstaff.jpg
My only other complaint about staves in general is that there are so many “reused skins”… The level 80 Tribal Staff looks like the level 40 Tribal staff looks like the level 5 Tribal staff (just an example. I don’t know if there is such a thing as a level 5 Tribal Staff or not.) I feel like the higher you go in level, the more “special” a staff should look.
Cheers!
IMHO, the only dye chance they’ve “nerfed” is the chance of getting an unidentified one as a normal drop. I used to get one a day, at least, especially in the low-to-mid range of levels. I haven’t had a dye drop in weeks. I would say it was just RNG, but I think it’s with everyone. My guildies have mentioned it as well.
As for the chance of getting a “rare” from an unidentified dye is the same as it always was. You don’t get one after [x] times identifying it, it’s the same chance of getting one on the first try as it is on the 1500th try.
I agree with Theoldman…. Orr is simply UGLY.
While leveling, there were other places that were similar in mob density and difficulty, but at least we could see some interesting scenery. Orr, to me, looks like the bottom of an aquarium someone left out in the garage for 10 years. Kinda dark, dusty and slimey at the same time, with horridly pink fake coral…
The other thing is that the rewards for the effort stink. If you’re not part of a zerg, then there’s nothing to be gained by beating your head against the wall for an hour only to receive one rare and 15 common items.
I wish I had better news for you, but about the only thing you can do is to guest on some other servers to see if there are better chances elsewhere.
Good luck!
War Siren, I understand what you want.
I agree to a point, but look at Aion. The RNG there was sooooooo bad at one time that people were literally giving up because they couldn’t get Shiney X.
I wouldn’t want that to happen to GW2.
I do agree that there needs to be some armor that is difficult to get and relatively rare. Right now, EVERYONE can get the highest level gear with minimum effort, even me, and I am definitely NOT a grinder… I would also say that whatever they would introduce to fill that void be BoP so that if you get it, you can’t sell it for unreasonable sums.
I like skins, and I see what you’re getting at, but the more skins that are out there, the more homogenized the population becomes. I would rather see something rare but OBTAINABLE that would show the world that you put in the effort needed to get it, rather than showing everyone how much gold you have in the bank. It’s not a challenge to buy gems, convert it to gold, and then buy an uber skin.
I would rather see something else for “end game”…
A couple of ideas:
1. Instanced scaling raids for guilds. If you have 5 or if you have 30, the whole guild can participate at the same time. They would scale in difficulty according to how many of your guildies you could round up for a run. Bump everyone to the same level (as is being done already for PvP ) and let her rip, so to speak. Only 2 of you? No problem! 150 of you? Still not a problem. With the technology out there, I think it would be doable. Better than having to say to a guildie, “Sorry, there’s already a whole 5 of us. You’re out of luck…”
2. Institute GvG. It’s the one aspect of PvP that I truly miss from GW1.
3. Cross-zone objectives. Once you have finished your own PS, there’s nothing going on. I would love to come across an NPC that says something like (for instance) “Hey, I found an entry in this book that references a treasure…” and launches you on a worldwide hunt for clues. One of the most fun things I did in GW1 was look for all the ingredients for the mini moa. Yes, I could have bought one, but it was so much more fun to look for it, and run around the entire world, across all the chapters and EOTN to get it.
4. Dueling and arenas… I miss being able to grab a guildie and fight each other to hone my abilities. Besides, it’s just fun to 1v1 sometimes. sPvP is close, but not so much.
TLDR;
Just my opinions and nothing more. It’s not the skins that are important, it’s the journey to get them. Being results oriented will only frustrate and anger you.
Cheers from the Old Lady!

EVERYONE has the right to play.
Red/green colorblindness is not the only kind. Fixing for one might leave another out in the cold, so to speak.
I would think that Anet would want to accomodate as many players as possible. Fixing something like this should be as automatic as fixing an exploit.
Even a fix like a toggle for “What color would you like your ground effects to be” would be acceptable.
Cheers from the Old Lady!
If I could add only one elite from GW1, it would be the “Echo” elite…
For those that don’t know, you could use echo and it would immediately become the skill you use immediately after, giving you essentially 2 of the same skill, with different cool downs.
Might be OP, though, because some of those long CD Mesmer skills are powerful.
I love that they’ve increased the loot drops…but I will mitigate that by saying I think they should do 2 things…
1. Create a category of weapons that fall between Exotics and Legendaries. Make the drop rate very small, and sprinkle them through the world loot table. What happened to Final Rest is sad. It was so rare that it never dropped (and I mean NEVER, across all the servers since launch!) but, after the patch, I think I see one drop with every spawn. It would be better to have a truly RARE weapon, account bound, that cannot be sold, crafted, or bought.
2. Make World Bosses harder to kill. If they are supposed to scale with the number of people, having “over 9000” lvl 80s there to kill it should make it almost invulnerable rather than watching a boss go down in mere seconds. I would even be happy if there was a time period after spawning in which it truly was invulnerable in order for everyone who wants to participate to get there… say for 15-30 seconds…
So yes, I am really loving the loot increase… but not the boredom of going to kill a boss in less than 30 seconds.
The point is, there should be an option for people to get it as fast as they want to without having to do guild missions which alienates players away from smaller guilds.
While I think you are entitled to your own opinion (and I really do appreciate that) I must respectfully disagree.
There are TONS of other things in the game that can be bought, thereby granting one instant gratifcation, however it takes a bit of work (i.e. grind) to get these things. If one doesn’t want to work at it, then he/she shouldn’t get it.
Now, if the items in question made everything else in the game obsolete (as other games do) then I could see raising cain about the cost. I have left a couple of other games because only the “rich” could afford to be competitive.
Truthfully, I like it the way it is, but only because it’s not absolutely necessary to have the “new and improved” items to play.
Here’s a question for everyone who thinks GW2 is grindy….
It’s obvious that taking time and repetitive activities to get a reward that is simply not that much better is making some of you crazy. Why do it?
I do agree that the reqs for guild activities should be lowered to allow for small guilds to participate, but I just can’t see doing what I hate in order to get something that isn’t going to give me enough of an advantage to make it worth my while. I would rather go do a jumping puzzle… or gather… or craft… or W3… or create and alt and do hearts…or see if I can find the most out-of-the-way boss to kill…or preview every piece of armor in the BLT…or dance in Hoelbrak…
I guess what I am saying is that if you don’t like the grind, don’t do it. Usually, the dailies take care of themselves in the normal course of playing.
It seems to me that most of the folks here aren’t whining about gear being unobtainable. It seems that the big whine is that it’s unobtainable NOW…
If you have to have ANet hand you your +1 gear without being patient, then you’re playing the wrong game.
I have been asking for this for a long time in numerous threads, however they tend to get buried quickly.
Right now, I have to depend on an external website to see activity levels of my guildies…
I can see what level your highest character is, I can see what crafts you have maxed, and I can see how many achievement points you have. Whoop-de-do! While those things are semi-important, a “last online” date and a reliable “join” date would be grounds for a guild banquet will all the fixin’s….
Regardless of where it drops, how often it drops, or even if there are 16,789,101 of them in the BLT next week, it was fun looking for it!
My only sadness comes from the fact that it drops from such a “common” event. I was hoping for a much more out-of-the-way place to discover.
For what it’s worth:
I was thinking that if it’s a RARE event, then it may require an event or events to trigger, and maybe the event needed to trigger the rare event is the zone’s meta event.
Is there a list of events somewhere that can only be initiated upon finishing the zones’ meta events?
I don’t believe it’s Zho’Qafa, and I don’t think it’s Shadow Behemoth.
…and I don’t believe the level of the zone has much to do with it.
Well, at least it’s more likely to drop than the percentage of a double/triple proc needed to master crafting in Aion used to be… ;-)
(for those who don’t know, “proc” is a term we use for gaining a better item than expected from a regular crafting session)
I have explored a lot of Tyria (not all, by any means, and not just the PoI’s and Waypoints) and I have come across lone champ-level creatures in hard to reach, out-of-the-way places.
Most of them don’t have events linked to them that I know of. I have not killed many of them either, becasue even at 80, some of these creatures hit really hard. For instance, the champ level 23 froggie king in the cave in the zone NE of Metrica (forget the name) can 2-shot me.
Is there a list somewhere of actual, documented events for the whole of Tyria? It may be in an event that for whatever reason nobody has triggered yet because the parameters fo that event haven’t been met yet.
I just keep having a feeling that “If A then B” happens, the choice you make for “B” will determine whether you get choice “C” or choice “R” and we’re just making the incorrect choices to arrive at the desired end result.
I think the first thing anyone should do is examine why they are having issues.
It doesn’t matter if one is casual, hardcore, or somewhere in between.
If you’re playing a game for the sheer income potential, then you have the highest chance on burning out. Period.
I have a job. I spend 8-12 hours in an office, grinding out that paycheck. I’ve been doing it for 20 years (ok, I’m old…) I don’t play GW2 to “go to work” and earn [X] amount of gold, or to see how many things I can sell at the trader. If I happen to get a rare or exotic, my first thought isn’t “should I salvage for parts in case I get a rare component.”
I play the game because I enjoy the escape. I love hanging out with my friends. Sometimes we do a dungeon, sometimes help with PS, and sometimes we farm for our dailies, or yes, make a speed run so one of my guildies can get what he needs for his new shiny… Lots of times, we simply hang out in LA, and do silly things like dress all our Asuras in pink and dance.
Bugs, yes, I have seen some. Are they game-breaking for me? no. What do I do about them when I see them? I report them. It might be a bug that everybody and their brother has reported, but it might be one that only I manifest.
I do feel for you if you are one of those who have strived to get the “Uber Weapon of Greatness” and find that it’s bugged. Report it, and maybe they’ll fix it. They fixed mine, and I am sure it was one that only I had, as none of my guildies had it. Anet sent me a nice little email and fixed it for me personally.
In fact, you might check on the “known issues” thread and see if your problem is there. They may be working on it, and you just haven’t noticed.
There are some things that I am not happy with as well… such as no real progression or rankings for sPvP or W3… The course of action that I choose is simply to not participate. There are tons of things to keep me busy, even if it’s just hanging with the members of my guild and having stupid conversations about what our cat did last night.
But, what I am really saying is that if the ONLY reason you’re playing GW2 is to get that bugged weapon, then maybe it is time to take a break and think about why you are really playing.
In trying to manage a medium sized guild, there are a few things which make me crazy, that I would humbly suggest that ANet please take a look at.
1. “Last Online” column – It would be immensely helpful if we could see in-game when the last time a player logged in to the guild. It is important for guild administration to be able to keep track of inactive players in-game. A “last time representing” column would be helpful as well.
2. A way to email all of the members, or all of the officers, or all of the co-leaders would be a good thing. Sometimes, more information than the little message of the day needs to be transmitted to everyone. Besides, members will more likely read an in-game mail than they would read the Message of the Day. Being able to mass mail the members would make it so much easier.
3. Separate the “invite” capability and the “promote” and the “kick” functionality. I have members that I would love to keep inviting others, but they are not “high enough” in the ranks, in my opinion, to be able to kick or demote other members.
Being a guild leader is work, I know. The whole issue is that this is a game. I would like to play it once in a while instead of having to micro manage my guild by spending all my time emailing, and trying to guess which members haven’t been online in the last 30 days.
Thanks for listening to an old woman’s rant

Actually, of the mount threads, this one isn’t quite so annoying, so I will add my two coppers’ worth…
In general, with the waypoint system, we simply don’t need mounts for travel in-game.
Having said that, mounts would be a great way to add depth, but only in certain circumstances, such as maybe a mini-game (visualize a race or obstacle course) or as a quest requirement in a later expansion/content update.
Personally, I just don’t believe that mounts in the game are necessary for day-to-day travel.
also, I agree with pretty much everyone else in that all the “We Want Mounts” threads should be merged into one topic.
…It would make the game more attracive and easy…
Maybe we don’t want EASY…
If the game is too difficult for you, get a friend, or pm me in game and I will be happy to help you through the beginner areas…
I really don’t care if they institute personal housing or not…
but I really really really miss Guild Halls from GW1, with the “skirmish” mode so you could duel your guildies…
Here lies Umblethina
Tossed into the mists by the Creator
Alas, she underestimated the power of Altaholism…
So whats the purpose of the wheels on the attached image? Is that not a mount?
Back to the topic. Please don’t make me go Mr-English on you all….you asked for it.
Mount (Verb) – to get up, climb, onto something (i.e. horse)
Mount (Noun) – an act of mounting (i.e. horse riding), something available for riding (i.e. bicycle, car)In both cases, the term ‘mount’ is associated with getting up onto something and/or/not riding it. It does not state how long or restrain from what object can be mounted. As long as you are on top of an object then you are mounted on it.
Class dismissed.
You forgot:
Mount: An animal or fish stuffed for display by a taxidermist
seriously, tho… waiting to see what the broom is all about before I get on my “No Mount” soapbox again…
“The sky falls and the ground shakes in the lands of the north. Charr and norn refugees crawl from the wreckage of their homes in the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, struggling to find shelter in the south. The call goes out for volunteers to assist the victims in this time of need, when earth and sky seem to have become the enemy…”
I see more of the introduction of 2 new dragons… Earth and Air.
As for Norn (racists post didn’t capitalize) and Charr, maybe they’re running for ELONA!!! (The great oracle sees and expansion in our future
)
6 months out for an expansion isn’t unheard of. They released Factions and Nightfall within about that time. ;-)
When I first played GW1, I thought it was absolutely ludicrous that one had merely 20 levels. After playing EQ1 and never reaching cap (not willing to grind forever,) I thought that GW1 would die, because at level 20, all gear for a given profession was the same except for skins. I thought that nobody would play after reaching level cap, and that it would be more like a console game. Congratulations, you won, here’s your reward, and that’s the end of that. Once I reached cap, there was a sense of “now what”…for all of about 30 seconds until I discovered GvG, RA, TA, and so forth. It was then that I found how wonderful GW1 really was, and the level 20 cap didn’t mean much.
So, here we are in GW2. I love GW2. I love that there’s more than 20 levels. I love that eventually, there may be more levels. Getting to 80 wasn’t a grind. In fact, I have heard that someone did it within the first few days.
Having the same stats on armor at level cap never bothered me either, nor did the idea that every other character of my level and class had the same capabilities and build possibilities that I did. That’s the way GW1 was. I don’t care if I can’t have legendary armor right now. The game is only a few months old… If I get it someday, then great, but for now, I am happy in my exotics.
What does bother me is that this is not how I pictured end-game to be. This is not Guild Wars. This is Join A Guild and Get To Cap to Zerg WvWvW… The closest thing to actual progression that we have in PvP is sPvP, in that one has to keep winning to keep playing. Unfortunately, there’s no sense of progression or leaderboards. And God forbid that 20 of my guildies want to go beat up on 20 pf someone else’s guildies. There’s just not an outlet for that. In truth, I miss being able to hit a button and watch an epic GvG battle that happened in the past.
If there were a concerted effort to make a GvG arena, and allow an actual Guild Progression Leaderboard, then maybe everyone who is complaining that their uber gear isn’t uber enough might have something to do that shows progression rather than that +1 to their stats. Then it would be GUILDWARS 2…
It is terribly disheartening for me personally to think that a vocal minority of gear phreaks has trumped the basic design premise of “Guild” wars.
TLDR; I don’t care about vertical progression. Armor is Armor, and it always has been, as it was in GW1. I would rather see actual competition and progression that doesn’t involve a +1 to your gear…
Apparently, turning off the ability to preview “others” armor was far more important than working on GUESTING which was promised from the beginning…
/endsarcasm
My guild is spread out between more than one homeworld. I can’t just warp across the Homeworlds of Tyria to see some of my guildies’ new armor…unless I want to spend a week there before coming back to our Homeworld, if I am even able to because of server populations being “full” all the time. Previewing was the next best thing.
Another thing: Almost all of my alts are clothies or leathers. I shouldn’t have to create a plate wearer for the sole reason of seeing one of my guildie’s newest rare drops. Not to mention that sometimes I am unable to log out to a suitable alt in time to see the link…Especially if I am in an instance of some sort, whether it be a PS or a dungeon.
It just doesn’t make any sense. Even with clipping/texture issues, I could admire from afar the things my friends were wearing.
Please bring previewing everything back…
I am the leader of a modest guild. I love my guild, and I love my people…
…but I grow increasingly frustrated with the lack of customization in the guild menu.
If I could change 3 things about the in-game guild menu, they would be this:
1. Have a “last on” column so I can see when the last time my people were online. It’s terribly hard to email the inactive folks if one doesn’t know who they are.
2. Separate the ability to invite new members and administer members. In order to allow someone to invite others to the guild, I also have to allow them the ability to promote/demote/kick people below them in rank.
3. Have a column that shows a specific date when a member accepted the guild invite.
Now that you know what I dislike about it, tell me this: If you could change 3 things about the in-game guild menu, what would they be?
My advice is simple…
Don’t let anyone else tell you how to play the game. The beauty of this game is you can literally do whatever the kitten you want.
If you do want to “have a path,” as a previous poster said, follow your heart(s)…literally. Also, follow you personal story, and watch the map for dynamic events. If you find that you’re getting your hindquarters handed to you becuase you haven’t leveled enough, try a different zone. You can go to any race’s starting area and be downleveled to the appropriate level for you to do the hearts there. Then, when you’ve gained a bit, go back to your original area.
Good luck to you!
I run a medium sized guild.
I did a search, and did not come up with anything, so here are my little suggestions:
1. The history page needs to go back farther than a week. There are some things we want to keep track of for a while longer.
2. There needs to be a join date and a “last online” date column so we can better track our inactive members.
3. There needs to be a “Notes” column so we can type things like “On vacation” and other short informational text.
4. Inviting a player and kicking a player needs to be separated. The “player admin” options require that if a member can invite another player, they can also boot players below them. I would like to be able to have anyone I wish to be able to invite others, but not necessarily kick them.
I know these are not the most pressing issues, but I thought I might mention them. All in all, I am quite happy with the extent of the guild interface, and these are the only real issues I am having.
Cheers from the Old Lady!
Ashabhi
Greetings!
The Grey came together on June 11, 2012 from a random group of posts on the GuildWars 2 official forums during a BWE. We formed a Guild of mature, older gamers who share a love of both gaming and strong community ties. We come from many different regions, backgrounds and gaming history. We are bound together by a common desire to play with similarly minded players. We want to create long term friendships that enhance our GuildWars 2 experience.
We are a relaxed, social Guild with an emphasis on building a community for the "Over 30 Crowd". We are dedicated to a friendly, team focused, fun loving gaming environment in which every member is an important individual, and not just another number. Our goal is to have fun, enjoy the game, and make new friends along the way.
Our Primary Homeworld is Tarnished Coast, however our EU members have opened a branch on Piken Square. We also have members from other Homeworlds as well. We can hardly wait for ANet to turn on the Guesting feature!
Our website is: www.thegreyguild.org (I am sorry, but I am having trouble getting the link to post, so please type it in your browser.)
If you would like to be a part of our community, either send us a request in our Membership forum or contact any full member in-game for an invite.
Cheers!
