I don’t know if their algorithm works right. I do not have my elementalist “decked out” so I am not at the top of my game, nor do I have a lot of toughness or dmg (for now…she’s in transition.) Mobs just hate me.

I could walk in naked and cast nothing but heal skills way out of range, and a random champ will come from across the zone just to seek me out and kill me.

Or at least this is what it seems like.

Not to derail the debate between Teofa and Vayne, but…

I played Aion from beta until GW2…

Not present at release, but instituted much later: certain legion (guild) tools, player housing (which was implemented with horridly temporary, expensive content,) more territory (extremely small maps,) mounts (which were initially temporary purchases) and massive RNG (GW2 got nothing on Aion!)

Crafting was a joke, and still is, from what I understand. Lots of servers condensed into 3 (yes, 3) by the end of the time I spent there. Lag, OP classes, and exploits, not to mention more spam than a grocery store and gold sellers galore.

Yes, I enjoyed playing for a very long time, but, I went back to see how it was about 6 months ago, and ran like hell for the nearest exit.

I will take GW2’s issues over some of the other ones I have seen ANY DAY OF THE YEAR!

Guess who will be paying 15$ per month for a year without getting any content and then have to pay 60$ for an expansion.

I pay $15 a month and I get actual, interesting content that doesn’t involve grinding 100k candy corn or running mindless champ trains for hours on end. I actually spent MORE on GW2 in a year than one year of subscription fees would’ve cost me and it wasn’t worth it at all. Still boring as hell, now, with vertical progression.

I say this to everyone with DC’s perception…

If you hate it so badly, I am sure there are games out there with exactly what you’re looking for. There truly is no need to continue playing something you see as being “boring as hell.”

Good luck to you…

Actually, I don’t play any longer but I purchased this game so I currently have the ability to post on these forums. When I first purchased this game I was excited about it, but me and a lot of other people hate what it’s become. Nowadays I mainly hang around to see what’s changed.

I do understand, I really do.

and I apologize if I seem a bit…frustrated (for lack of better term.) My opinion is no less valid (and no more valid) than anyone else’s. I don’t mind intelligent discussion of issues, and I don’t mind a good debate between two people, BUT…

After a while it is terribly wearying to listen to everyone who “doesn’t play anymore” and yet still needs to comment on things that they shouldn’t know firsthand if they’re “not playing.”

I apologize for lumping you in with these folks, but I was just out of reading another “I don’t play any more but…” threads and you happened to get the worst of me. Again, apologies. I did not intend to be trollish.

Ashabhi.1365

GW1 actually had only 1 expansion. Nightfall and Factions were stand-alone games

True Story^^

Disclaimer:
I am not a programmer, only a player with a rudimentary knowledge of the code behind the screen….

If WoW has yet another expansion, good for them. I have never played it, so I wouldn’t know how “good” or “bad” the game is.

What I do know is that from what the WoW players themselves have said in forum rages is that their expansions simple aren’t “all that and a bag of chips.” There were and are issues that seem to me as a much greater mess than anything in GW2.

The thing is that if you think about it, GW2 was larger in terms of maps, stories, and PvP at release than most games are years into them. Yes, they have their problems (as every game does) and Yeah, there are parts that I don’t like, but in general, I am having fun with what I’ve been given instead of begging for things I don’t really need.

The question I have is why is everyone (ok… maybe not everyone) screaming for an expansion when the existing content is still undone? Can anyone honestly say that they have done literally everything there is to do in the game?

So, I guess my opinion is that while I understand why some (not all) of you want an expansion, I just don’t think it’s needed yet.

A quick note about GW1: I define an expansion as a chapter of a game that requires the original client in order to run. A standalone game does not. Factions and Nightfall were standalone games that you could buy individually and play whether you had any of the other chapters or not. Eye of the North was an expansion. You had to already have one of the other chapters in order to play.

Nerfed Champ Bags/Boxes ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

After dealing with the changes for a day or so, here’s what I found.

I still get “exotic” bags/purses/whatevers that contain high-end mats. I still get dust, although not quite as much as I did before (but that’s ok) and I still get a few copper.

I never depended on the bags and chests to give me gold. I truly did not notice the difference in what I was gaining.

Mats, on the other hand, which in turn can get me the gold I need, seem to have remained somewhat the same. Since I am not a crafter, most of the mats I get are redirected directly to the TP.

The point is, I seemed to have been worried for naught. I can still make a decent living if I should decide to farm for a while.

The only thing that really hurts me is DR. It seems to kick in a lot sooner these days.

The thing I can’t reconcile is the nerf vs. the buff they were adding to make it more worthwhile to kill champs.

They have said in the past that they are going to make it more worthwhile to kill champions across the world, but then they nerf them because of the zerg farming thing. How can you do both?

Or, a better question: Why didn’t they just nerf Q’dale and leave the rest alone?

Please, Anet… review what y’all have done and try to come up with a more workable plan?

The Sixteenth is right.

In order for you to play GW2 you have to let go of pretty much everything you’ve been “brought up with” and learn to let go and just play with new mechanics, styles, and builds.

Before you quit altogether, try this:

Make a character. Level it without looking at guides or “suggestions” and build it yourself. See what works for you. Once you get to 80 on your terms, then play with the builds and armor, and see what you can do. I bet you will surprise yourself. Also, get with a group of people who of the same mindset you are and build a team. Go out in the world and kick kitten .

Even in GW1, if you took a build that was successful for others, it didn’t mean that you could play it as effectively as someone else, so you adjusted for your play style and you enjoyed the content on your terms. You played with people who liked the things you like, and you enjoyed yourself.

If you play GW2 with the idea that there is only one way to play, you will be disappointed.

Truly the only thing I would want changed is that the rewards match the effort. Better drop rates, nicer things, maybe something unique that has more than a 1 in 4,679,812,376 chance of dropping. I don’t mind that it takes so long to coordinate. I don’t mind that it takes more than 10 people to do. I just hate that the rewards don’t justify the effort.

Cultural Armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

I have a question for the “masses” about Cultural Armor.

Personally, I see them as vanity items that are used to re-skin your “real” armor. My reasoning boils down to the fact that for the money one would spend on T3 armor, one would think the stats would be better, a la Exotic. Right now, I can buy exotic armor for a (relative) pittance that far outclass the T3 cultural, which is prohibitively expensive for a lot of people. I had always thought it was supposed to be “better” than normal armor.

My question is this: How many of you actually buy the T3 armor and do you think it would be more “marketable” if T3 were exotic with decent stats rather than looks only?

Just curious, because I do have a couple sets of different tiers, but I don’t think I have actually used any of them for my “real” armor.

Collaborative Development Topic- Living World

in CDI

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

My take on the Living Story:

I feel that there are 3 things that hold the LS back from being a rather great addition to the GW2 world.

1. Not sure how to put this into words, so please bear with me: While the story arc seems slow, the meta achievements for the LS are completed way too quickly. When Scarlett Invasions were “the” LS, the meta for defeating her was done in the first day or two, and the rest of the invasions were (and still are) completed only to the Aetherblade level and then the captains were (are) farmed. If someone wanted to complete (i.e. defeat Scarlett) after the first day or two, that’s just too bad. It’s not much different than any other LS. The meta is done very quickly, and the rest of the time things are farmed and not completed. Someone who is slower to complete is just out of luck.

2. the pacing is a bit too short. The “pros” are done in a couple days (if that long) and the folks who can only play for short periods of time have no chance (see item 1.) Not everyone can play 6 hours at a stretch. Unfortunately, I don’t see a solution to this. Make it too difficult, and the very people you try to give a chance are left out because they can’t properly prepare or get the prerequisites done in time.

3. (beating the dead horse) The rewards don’t match the effort. It is easier to farm (See item 1) than it is to complete, and much more lucrative. If the rewards for completing the LS “chapter” were better than one could get from farming the events, it would be completed more often.

I can look past a few bugs and even the fact that once it’s gone it’s gone, as long as it’s worth it to do them and I can do them in the time I am able to spend in Tyria…

Become an Achievement hound… see if you can complete everything. I only have a bit under 5K AP, but I think the top achievement honors go to someone with over 16K on my server. You can check the leaderboards and set a goal. I am slow, and I will probably hit 16K about the time they release GW3 (ha ha) and then go from there.

Or, you can craft to 500 for Ascended gear.

Or you can see if you can fraps every vista.

Or you can make a level 80 of each profession.

Or you can run dungeons.

Or you can complete all the LS metas as they come out.

Or, you can find something that interests you. Depending on someone else’s idea of fun will only frustrate you.

Hey, guys (and gals) I only wrote this because I was trying to do the fist part of the Mad King/Bloody Prince meta and there was some knucklehead that was parked on the waypoint. I warped to the southern waypoint and walked it, but I told him about my issue as I walked by. He was obviously AFK, and was still AFK when I finished that chapter and walked out.

Now, I may be one of the only ones who have this problem, and I will admit that it may be my graphics settings, but seriously, what harm can it do to take that one step off the waypoint? I even do it and I don’t have a tag to get in the way.

Ashabhi.1365

Reported for going AFK. lol…

Seriously though, there was once a Commander who stood still on a waypoint. No matter how much I clicked, it kept saying “Join Squad”. After 4 mins, the Commander moved and I realized something: the waypoint was contested. It had been contested all along. I could not see the cross swords on the waypoint because of the Commander icon.

So i’ll give you a costly hint. You want to waypoint, right?
Let’s say you are in Malchor’s Leap and a commander is standing on Lights Waypoint. Use any waypoint in Cursed Shores, then since you are now in another map, you will not see the commander in Malchor’s Leap. You can now use Lights Waypoint.

I hadn’t thought of that…but still, the question remains, why should I have to? Instead of paying to waypoint once, I am paying to waypoint twice in some cases.

I would think that it would be common courtesy to simply take a step off the waypoint before you AFK. It would also clear up whether the waypoint is contested or not. Kind of like it’s common courtesy not to stand in such a way as to completely cover an NPC, although that doesn’t seem to be a problem in this game.

Ok, I know… you worked hard for those blue tags. Either you paid through the nose, or you worked long hours in-game to save up for them, so yes, you deserve them. That isn’t what this thread is about…

PLEASE, for the love of all that is GW2…

…don’t go AFK on a waypoint??? It makes it unusable for all intents and purposes. One can’t click on it because their little blue doritos are covering the entire “selectable area” of the waypoint. It would be different if we, as players, could turn the tags off in the map view, but alas, that is not a function we have (that I know of.)

Ok, yes, I know… I can choose another waypoint and walk, but why should I have to just because somebody felt like standing in the one spot that makes it irritatingly difficult for others? Not to mention that there are some areas one cannot simply “use another.”

All I am asking is that if you have to be AFK, please take one step to your left before you leave so the rest of us can use the waypoint?

If you don’t, I will nicely ask you to move so I can waypoint in, but if I get no response (especially after the 3rd or 4th time) I will assume you are doing it deliberately and I will report you…sorry…

Thanks for listening…

Precursors and the mystic forge

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ashabhi.1365

For those who need a bit of information about how RNG works in general:

I will simplify greatly for clarity’s sake.

Let’s say that the given ratio is 1 chance out of 500 that you will get a precursor. This does not mean that if you try 500 times, you should at least get 1 precursor. This means that every time you try, you have the same 1 in 500 chance. Your chances don’t “improve” with more tries.

Similar to rolling a die and expecting to get a 6. You have a 1 in 6 chance. If you roll a 4, that doesn’t mean that the 4 is taken out of rotation so that you will not get it again. You might roll another 4 on the very next try, or you may not roll one again in a hundred tries. As for that six, the chances are, you will probably get one eventually if you keep rolling, but your percentages don’t actually change. It’s just that the laws of probability says that if you have a 1 in 6 chance of rolling a 6, you also have that same 1 in 6 chance of rolling any other number on that die…

Now, if you take that simple example to another level, back in tabletop D&D you had a “chance” table that said if you rolled percentile dice and got from 1-65% you get nothing, and then smaller chances for the “good stuff” as you roll a higher percentile. Eventually, yes, you could probably roll a 99 and get the Uber Sword of Greatness, but you still had the same chance of rolling nothing on the 200th roll as you did on the 1st.

(OPINION ALERT!)
I don’t think it’s an issue with the algorithm. I do think that the chances are so low, that I can see where some would try hundreds or even thousands of times with no drop, and others get it in just a few tries. As for me, I think I have about the same chance as I do to win a 500 million dollar Powerball all by myself.

I do think that there would be much happier people if precursors were something that you had to make with a specific MF recipe (with a chance of failure,) and that there was a reasonable chance of success for that recipe in order to keep the rarity intact without making it utterly impossible.

In what lore I have read, LA is supposed to be the “melting pot” of the world, and in a sense, it is. Everybody goes there.

If the devs want to get us to use the other cities for anything, 3 things have to happen.

1. Put the crafting stations closer to the bank/TP area. I might like to use the trader in Hoelbrak, but it’s a half mile (scale mile) from the bank. And the crafting stations are on a completely different floor, so getting back and forth between the TP and the crafting area is a bit too spaced out.

2. Give us something to do other than see a random NPC for “quest” information… The cities are simply window dressing. At least DR has a group of RPers that is fun to go listen to. Not so much for all the rest.

3. Add some permanent content a la Fractals that will bring people into those cities on a regular basis. Maybe the Sylvari found the ruins of the old Shards of Orr and need to explore it. Maybe the Norn have found evidence of a new land (maybe old maps that reference Thunderhead Keep or Marhan’s Grotto) that can only be accessed by going through their crypts (and maybe a new zone…hint hint beg beg…)

The thing is that until there’s a REASON to go to all these other cities, we’ll all be logging in to LA until our computers blow up.

Exotic Vs. Currently Available Ascended

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

Hi, Vanthian! Long Time No See! Glad to see you are alive and well.

Now… back OT:

The statistical differences are definitely a concern, but I think the concern is overblown right now.

If there were content that was of similarly more difficult (read: not just longer to complete or rediculous timers) endeavors, then I could see spending all that time and effort in getting full ascended. As of right now, there is nothing in the game that “deserves” ascended gear.

With two exceptions:

1. WvW

Eventually, I believe that “exotics” will be so obsolete in WvW that even a 1% boost will mean the difference between surviving and dying. Even so, right now there is no need for it. As more and more WvW veterans gain ascended gear, the difference will be much more obvious, and us poor old exotics users will be left out in the cold.

2. High level Fractals

I know nothing about Fractals. I have stepped through the portal once in my whole GW2 life, and that was to say that I saw it once. I have guildies that thrive on them, however, and what they have to me leads me to believe that after a certain point, if you don’t have Ascended gear, it is impossible to progress.

The thing is that both of these activities are relative “niche” activities. Both have specific goals that require more organization that “plain ol’ PvE.” Both are geared toward a specific group of people, and both involve a bit more thought and planning than running around on the champ train.

My opinion (and only mine) is that regardless of what anyone says pro or con about Ascended items or the way they were implemented is that even with their stat boosts (of any kind and percentage) there just isn’t enough content geared to require it yet. Ascended is mostly something to give to certain groups of players in order to have a feeling of “progression.” By all means…knock yourselves out. Until they have content that is “worth it” I will roll along in my exotics.

Buying a legendary with gems?

That losers what buy legendary for real money really exists?

It’s no different than the guy who spends an extra $60,000 to buy a luxury sportscar over a family sedan.

Point is, different people have different disposable income for different tastes.

Newsflash… “Family Sedans” can be well over 60KUS. Some sportscars are actually cheaper… Not to mention a lot of people are still caught up in “I must have an SUV” which can start at 50K and go up. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives (I drive a pocket car) but in general, 60K isn’t much to spend any more for some people.

On topic, Legendaries have always been about who can afford them. My advice? Buy the precursor…craft the legendary…OR do what I am doing and completely ignoring them and being happy with my “lowly” exotics…

Until they release content that absolutely requires the increase in stats, I don’t see the point.

Guild Wars 2 Geared for Older Audience?

@ the OP:

First, I thought I’d give you a reference.

I’ve been playing computer games since you had to program them yourself. (BASIC, anyone?) My MMO experience is a bit shorter, starting with EQ1. Before the computer, I played p&p D&D and before that I played chess by the US Mail. I’m “older”…. I have granchildren. I have a step grandchild older than you. Oh… and I am also female.

The reason I like GW2 has nothing to do with the “preferred demographic.” I like it simply because it is fun for me. I can come and go as I please, and still be competitive. I can run speed clears with friends, or I can join the champ train, or I can simply wander around the world solo and do hearts or something to pass a little time. If I feel the need to stop and go play Monopoly with the granddaughter I can, and come back to almost exactly the same spot as I left. I don’t have to worry about “losing my place” in the world.

The content itself could actually be a bit more “mature” for me, but if it means giving up my freedom to come and go as I choose, I’ll take it GW2 every time.

I am not much of a roleplayer.

First off, I believe that you should be able to play how you want. Roleplaying is a valid play style, just as any other.

Having said that, I see both sides to the issue.

While I feel for those who were in uninstanced Salma, in a way, they were actually not playing the way the game was intended. Uninstanced Salma was, and is only accessible by means that involve circumventing the “walls” that Anet put up. One could actually say that this was deliberately playing in a way that Anet didn’t intend.

On the other hand, I don’t see the harm, and that if it wasn’t using resources that the “rest of the game” needed, then by all means, play on.

I guess my “official” opinion is that rather than put the walls up, take them all down, and make uninstanced Salma available to everyone. The Instanced Salma needed for all the PS chapters could still run simultaneously, and the district would be fun to go see without having to do some sort of jumping puzzle or “creative entrance” to get to.

Play on, all you Roleplayers! You make the world fun to walk through.

It’s sporadic for me as well… one time it will be just fine, and another it not only eats my posts, but a few ahead of me. I have to reload the whole thread to see.

Gamers: Have we become more Greedy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

I don’t think it’s a question of greed so much as it’s a question of speed.

What I mean is that when GW2 was released, I don’t think the devs expected a large group of their player base to be tricked-out level 80’s inside of a month.

Now that the majority of the players have at least one lvl 80 character, it’s a race to put out content that isn’t chewed up inside of 3 days (or less.) To me, it’s sad that some players have gotten the meta for the most recent LS events in one day and then spend the rest of the 2 weeks either farming the champs that spawn (Scarlett) or hanging out in LA complaining that there’s nothing to do and that all content should be permanent.

The thing is that even if the content were permanent, there would be “that group” of people who would chew through it in a day or two and then go back to champ train farming and/or complaining.

There will always be people that go through content like there’s no tomorrow, but that’s not the way the game was designed.

For now at least we have LS updates (like them or not) and holiday events that add new content every couple of weeks so that the lvl 80 player base has something new to do. It’s not their fault that some people want it ALL right NOW.

The other thing is that the majority of the people that post in the forums are not necessarily the majority of the player base. Don’t expect the opinions posted here and in other forums to reflect every player in the game.

What is ONE change you'd make to your class?

Necro:

A true Minion Master build…

One in which we could actually heal our minions instead of watching them die and re-conjuring them.

I kind of miss the old MM build in GW1…kind of…

and for Elementalist, I agree with an above poster about some way to mitigate the double cooldown.

New Idea for Commander Tags

I agree with Mel. There should be separate tags for PvE and WvW.

Beyond that, buying them isn’t so bad, because as one said, you can tell if they know what they’re doing as opposed to the “Hey, look at me!” tag. I would like to see some kind of requirement other than a bank account for them, though.

Collaborative Development- Request for Topics

My 3 are:

1.Risk vs. Rewards – I love doing temples, Tequatl, and the rest of the World Bosses/Dragons. Problem is that I can get just as much loot/rewards for a 2 hour champ train run as I can from a whole day spent doing the content as designed. Until this is fixed, the champ train wins.

2.Guild Tools – I would like to see when the last time my people were online. I would like to sort my members acording to join date, last online, or main class. I would also like to be able to mass mail all my people a “newsletter” or other important information (Guild Leader ability only.) I would like the Message of the Day to have more room, and be scrollable so I can put more than 3 lines of information in it.

3.RNG – I understand that some things are rare. I understand that not everyone was meant to be handed a precursor. The thing is that I would like to know that I at least had a 1 in 10000 chance for something instead of a 1 in 4,467,981,296 chance. The way that RNG is applied makes it so that it’s all a lottery instead of being rewarded for actually doing things in the game.

I am having fun with the content. I just wish that once you hit 80, it doesn’t revolve around RNG and champ trains.

What is the advantage of temporary content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

Apologies to those who think that temporary content is the bane of their existence.

I like the temporary content. It give us something new to do, and goes away before we get bored with it. The problem lies in those who are absolutely convinced that they have to have everything. I have participated in every LS event, and yet I did not finish most of the metas.

Guess what? I don’t care! I had fun for the 2 weeks I did it, and when they do the next one, I’ll have fun with that too. If I see something I want, then yes, I will go for it, but so far, the fun in the content itself is plenty for me.

Why is it everyone complains about the LS, but we don’t hear a lot of whining about the “holiday” events? they’re temporary too, and they change every year. Yes, we will have a visit from Mad King Thorn again, but it won’t be THIS YEAR’s Mad King Thorn. Wintersday will be back too, but it won’t be like last year either.

Earning gold

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I don’t farm. I don’t run endless path X of dungeon Y. I still manage to make gold in my playing. Do lvl 78-80 events, gather when you feel like it.

Yes, I have been known to do the champ train thing, but only because I only had a short time to play and it was something to do relatively quickly and relatively rewarding for my time, but I don’t make it a job that I have to go do 8 hours a day.

In the end, I make somewhere between 5-10g a day (not all day, just my couple hours play time) and I bank most of it instead of buying that new shiney.

This may not be for you, but it’s what I do.

Good luck to you.

The best way to implement Ascended armor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

On topic, I would suggest more than one way to get them.

One way, of course would be crafting. With crafts up to 500, and a decent list of materials that one could get from the world and don’t involve forcing someone to do dungeons or WvW. Mostly, because face it. There are those out there right now who won’t ever be able to craft their ascended weapons because for whatever reason, they are unable or unwilling to do certain parts of the game.

Another way would be random drops from world boss chests, but with a decent drop rate that doesn’t involve a 1 in 1,748,302,896 chance.

Yet another way would be to have certain events drop a certain piece, such as finishing Scarlett would award a random piece, Teq would award a different piece, etc. If you get a piece from Scarlett, and you finish a second time on the same character, you would not get another piece. This way, alts could get ascended armor as well as mains.

But, if I had the power to choose how they would be implemented I would choose a guaranteed reward from an epic quest line or finishing an epic achievement meta. Award the whole set with stats you choose, but make it so that if you complete that particular meta, you would be guaranteed to get the whole set. It would have to be epic, spanning the globe, and have certain aspects that were only available if you do the prerequisites to get there. That way, anyone seen with ascended gear would be known as someone who actually played the game rather than a)buying from the TP or b) endless running of Dungeon X path Y for some obscure material that can only be gained in that place.

Just my opinions, so take it how you will.

Cheers!

top 5 things you want in Gw2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

1. Forum people who can submit issues and complaints without “QQ I want it Nao or I /ragequit!!!”

2. Better guild tools. Not just “last online” but the ability to form alliances, sort members better, see when people joined, and separate invite/kick abilities.

3. not sure how to word this one, but a guaranteed, more than 1 in 1000000000000 chance of a specific skin item from specific bosses (in GW1, Ghials Staff was from killing Ghial, Froggie Scepter from BRG, etc.) I really don’t like the RNG lottery for skin tickets from the BL chests.

4. no more “vertical progression.” I would rather have more things to do than yet another tier of armor/weapons/etc.

5. Reasons to go to the “other” cities. Queen’s Pavilion was a good start, but it was temporary. Each major city should have a draw for everyone to go see.

On getting critcism

in Community Creations

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

If I were the owner of a business, and I had an employee come to me with a valid concern or suggestion, a lot of what I read into it will be conveyed through his/her tone.

Try to look at it this way:

Bad suggestion:

Employee 1: Why the kitten kitten did you kitten up the kittened copy machine service? You need to kittened kitten it back to the way it was or I’ll kitten quit!
Boss: Go ahead… quit… no skin off my nose. Here’s your last paycheck…

Good suggestion:

Employee 2: Yeah, I know Employee 1 has an abrasive way of saying things, but the copy service is broken now. We really do need to fix it before we do next week’s work.
Boss: Thanks… I’ll take it into consideration. And Employee 1 is still gone, because I don’t need people like that. Besides… there’s a reason I did it and you’ll understand after the next few office changes take place.

This is what you run into if you get too caustic. You may have a completely valid issue, and there may be valid economic reasons behind it, but if you express yourself like a kitten, then people will more than likely not only ignore you, but do something exactly opposite (as in “You don’t like this? Well…Let me show you!”)

Now, I know we all wish ANet would be as forthcoming as the Boss in the aforementioned conversations, but the whole idea is that we don’t know what goes on in their office unless we’re sitting there listening to their meetings.

Just take a chill and think about what you write. They will be like most people and consider your issue a lot more if you put it into a concise. polite manner than if you swear like a 14 year old every other word.

TL;DR:
If you put your thoughts into words in an intelligent manner, then the chances of someone listening to you will be much greater than if you’re whining and (literally) swearing every other word because you want something RIGHT NOW and you’ll /ragequit if you don’t get it

Would you Buy a Cantha-based Expansion?

Had you asked this 3 months ago, I would have said yes, with no reservations.

I am not so sure any more. I keep looking at the globe that is displayed in a number of different parts of the “known world” and while I have some nostalgia for Factions and Nightfall, there are so many areas we have never seen.

I think I would rather see something totally new than go back to Cantha or Elona, but…if I were given one of those, I’d take it.

"I gathered the mats so it was free"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ashabhi.1365

Ashabhi.1365

Actually, there are mats that are not free, and mats that are. Look at it this way:

If you spend time gathering, then you have spent time and effort, therefore not free.

If, on the other hand, you are doing something else (i.e. playing the game) and you happen to get certain mats through playing “normally” then those are given freely, and you did not spend time specifically looking for those particular mats.

What do you enjoy about the game?

I love it too. Agreed, there are some “things” that need to be either fixed or tweaked, but in truth, I’m enjoying all that content that doesn’t involve fractals, farming (although I do join a train occasionally) or beating my head over getting that one “lottery” drop.

Are ascended items dropping less?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ashabhi.1365

um… I hate to play devil’s advocate here, but why is getting one THAT important?

Don’t get me wrong… if one drops for me, I would be exceedingly pleased, but I would much rather spend my time doing other things than farming for that drop that may or may not ever happen for me.

So, if y’all need anything, I’ll be out there in the world somewhere, doing other things….

At this point in the game, riding the champ train is the way to go if you want to make some money.

That is wrong on so many levels. You can make way more money with dungeons. The problem is dungeons actually require you to use more than your auto attack. That’s why so many people do this grind, they don’t want to be challenged they just want to be rewarded for pressing 1 button.

I never said you can’t make money with dungeons. I said that at this point in the game, riding the champ train is the way to go. Reason? because it is EASY.

The kittens who harass other players for “not conforming” are the ones at fault. On the other hand, there was a group the other day that was deliberately disrupting the train and were just as hateful as the train kittens. That’s different. That’s no better than anyone else who is preventing someone from playing the way they want. If there’s a group doing that, they should be reported right along with the champ train kittens.

What the champ train people have to realize is that it doesn’t matter if a random group kills a champ out of order. Wait a few, and the train will be back on schedule in 3…2…1…

My advice still stands. If you’re playing for enjoyment, and not to deliberately derail the train, then go for it. Turn off the map chat, and report anyone who harasses you in PM.
