What Brendar said…
Well, I tried 2 of the gates before I found the one I was looking for. I skipped the one to Hoelbrak, because I knew what it was like, and had no desire to go back there.
The first one I tried took me to a place that was lively with colors and plants…Some of the even moved around on two legs! But there was no flying city here. So, back into the gate I ran, before any of the two-legged plant things could see me.
The second one led me to a great city! There were tents, and people, and children (not mine) and a beautiful park in the middle! It was a scary place…so big… I thought I might lose myself inside of the first 3 blocks, so I felt it best to continue on in my search…
I jumped back into the gate and took one of only two options left.
One option had giant kitty cats guarding the gates. I had a brush with death at the hands of a ranger’s pet, so the thought of having another run-in with large felines did NOT appeal to me. Especially with my newfound sense of urgency to get to the flying city!
The remaining option was unguarded, which was highly unusual. I could only assume that it was between shifts, so I took the opportunity to run as fast as I could before anyone actually saw me. Whew! I made it…
…and what a wonderous city I saw! It truly flew! and there really was life-sized toys!
And low and behold… I saw something that lifted my heart so far up that I thought I would fly as high as the city I was in!
Commander Clawfford!!!
And he was with a toy golem!
Never in my life have I been so happy to see anyone!
“Please, commander Clawfford…can you help me? I need repairs, and I need a family. It is Wintersday, you know… I have been out in the cold too long.”
A funny thing happened on the way to the Forge…
A small voice came at me from out of the shadows. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! there, tucked neatly away in a display was a Dolly!
She told me of a city that flew and had grown-ups the size of children, and grown-up sized toys!
I must find this place!
I scurried from shadow to shadow across the city, until I could see the gates in the distance. It would be hard to sneak by the people here, but I think that by keeping to the shadows I can do it… Wish me luck!
I am so tired…
There is nothing for me here. I have looked for my child, but to no avail. I have been in the city of LA for almost a year now, and nothing, not even a substitute. The children here have already gotten their Tixx toys from last year and while I am sure they would like a new toy, none of them are my child.
I have thought often of doing the only thing a lonely tattered toy can do, and recycle myself by jumping into the Great Mystic Forge and hoping that what comes out is something that can be useful to anyone.
My name is Modari. I was modeled after Ventari, the great ancestor.
I was left behind during the last Wintersday festival. I have been hiding in the vegetation and shadows for most of a year now.
When I got here, I was thrilled at the idea that I would be left with a child of my very own. Alas, it didn’t work out that way. The child I was left with was cold and uncaring. After a small heartless thank you to Tixx, my creator, I was all but forgotten in a chest.
Later that same month, my child and his family moved to from Höelbrak to LA. I was accidentally left behind when my toy chest bounced off the dolyak… I followed as soon as I was able, always moving by night, and finding boxes and barrels that seemed to be moving that direction during the day, until I finally found myself inside the Gate to LA.
I hadn’t realized that Lion’s Arch was so big. I searched for months with no results. I have been chewed by dogs, thrown in the bay by a hateful child, and was even thrown in the refuse once by a cleaning woman.
With my heart broken, I gave up. I have been hiding and trying to stay out of the way until my creator comes back, but I fear that all is lost…
Actually, while we have all been reading the stories of Bubbles the mermaid and Krait the friendly krait, the two of them have been secretly running around installing these things to try and irritate the hell out of Primordus.
Eventually, he will wake up with a screaming migraine and lay waste to 3 or 4 zones so that we can never go back, and we’ll be forced into migrating to the “undiscovered zones” that ANet keeps locked away from us.
After running for a month or so, we’ll discover the ruins of Sifhalla and we’ll all go hunting for the Lady of the Lake so we can use her scythe to defend against Primordus.
Either that or it’s Scarlet’s final plan to enslave us all. Unfortunately, this is the one that I think ANet will run with.
I love mix-n-match armor. I like being able to put this coat with that pant/skirt/buttflap and add those shoes…
With ascended, I think there are some cool pieces, but the whole together is kind of meh. I will probably be wearing mix-n-match a lot.
THat is IF I decide to get Ascended armor at all.
Tequatl is the most glaring example of what happens when ANet makes an event “harder.”
To begin with, the entire playerbase would show up to try to take him down. After a week or so of trying with mixed results, the people simply stopped doing it on a massive scale. There are still a few guilds and servers that take him down regularly, but in general, he sits abandoned in his swamp.
Teq (in my opinion) was a great reminder of why I quit the likes of EQ, PWI, and a few others. I loved the encounter, but I simply don’t have the time it takes to prepare and strategize beforehand.
It’s kind of like a roller coaster. There’s a 2 hour wait for a 2 minute ride.
Anyways, I digress.
I don’t mind harder content, and in fact, I would appreciate it. but the fact of the matter remains that if they make something hard, people will simply not do it if they can accomplish the same earnings with something easier.
How about we all just let this thread die?
After thinking about the issue for a while, I have formed the opinion that while the OP has the right to express his/her distaste, it needs to be placed in the suggestions forum. (i.e. make the suggestion to cover it up to ANet in the PROPER forum.)
Placing the thread here was trolldom at its purest.
@the OP: You, good sir won the troll award of the week. I even bought into it.
As others have said, the GW2 franchise is a business. Anyone who thinks that ANet and NCSoft are doing it out of the goodness of their heart is dead wrong.
Having said that, neither company is stupid. If they was the game to succeed financially, they’re going to have to come up with something that is not only wildly popular, but very lucrative. They are also going to have to develop something that keeps players rather than merely drawing them in with a pretty box.
I do think we’ll see the end of the Living Story at some point, as it has been made abundantly clear that they’re going to have to vastly improve the pacing and more importantly, the quality of the content. What they will replace it with is anyone’s guess.
I also think we’ll see some new zones. There are way too many on the map that we do not have access to as of yet. Far Shiverpeaks, Crystal Desert, Maguuma Jungle, Isle of Janthir, and a number of others are all waiting to be opened up and explored. Or at least, I hope they have something in mind for them.
Or, at least, I hope we see some of the improvements listed here and elsewhere.
Try a low-level white…if that doesn’t make it account bound, then it’s going to remain souldbound forever…
I was on Tarnished Coast for a long time. If you want to run the train, or farm or RP, then it’s a good one.
I ended up transferring to Jade Quarry after guesting on most all the NA servers because there is a healthy population of people who do the events and temples as well as the trains and farming. Not only that, they are pretty good in WvWvW.
Admittedly, all of this is just our opinions. If you end up on JQ, look me up. I’ll run with you.
/snip
What you seem to miss is that it’s not about my opinion.
It’s about the reasonability that people can be appalled by this. And apparently a lot of people here only care about themselves and show absolutely empathy towards the possibility of this.
/endsnip
ok, let’s say for a moment that the thread is about the possibility that people can be “appalled” at the armor.
I am absolutely sure you speak the truth… There is a group that thinks it’s socially unacceptable.
I have a couple questions for you, if this is truly the case:
1. Why wait until now to post the thread, when it has been in the game for over a year? Did it not “appall” that group before now? It is odd that it only comes up after the Light Human T3 debacle.
2. Why is it that if the thread is not about your opinion, you keep saying “I” this, and "I: that?
3. Finally, how can you care about yourself and show absolutely empathy towards the possibility that you are in the minority on this one? (yes…in case you missed it, these are your own words directed back at you.)
Hey, ANet, do you have any preliminary designs for us to speculate on yet? It would be great if we could see where your ideas are leading so we can say “yeah, that’s a good direction,” or “omg, no!”
@ the OP:
In fuedal Japan, it was common for the upper class men and women to bathe together. I don’t mean swim, with trunks and suits, but bathe in full nudity.
However, it was also considered rude and/or immoral to deliberately show a man the back of a woman’s neck (as one would do in the act of turning away to hide your breasts.)
In our times, in some middle eastern and arab countries, it is immoral (and in some cases illegal) to show your hair…or any of the human form…or the face…. and yet, as “westerners” we do this every day.
The issue seems to be that you (personally) and some others believe this armor is (in your own words) immature, tacky, trashy, and makes one look like a hooker.
I applaud your ability to speak out and defend your opinion, but the fact remains that it is just that… an opinion.
When I first set eyes on this armor back in in the beginning of the game, I absolutely had to have it. Hands down, in my opinion, it is some of the most beautiful and artistic armor in the game.
So, while I respect your opinion (which is truly what this whole thread is about) I disagree wholeheartedly with you.
As for the armor and Gem store point, sales of said armor help paid for it’s creation. It costs X manhours to create, they get Y gems for it where some aggregate percentage is gems paid with cash. The bean counters can measure that item’s success.
There are a couple of dozen of armors per race and weight class for “free” already in the game. A number a locked up behind specialized currency like dungeon and WvW tokens or karma but are available. I wouldn’t mind seeing more added to the mix, but as it is you either do it right, like adding another look per weight class per race per level group or create a new full blown dungeon with a new set of tokens for the armor there. But doing it right takes time.
MMO players have notoriously short attention spans as is so that’s why the emphasis is on the Living Story, new content, every two weeks, gone in four leaving behind some minor change to the world. Is this discussion on “core content” just another way to ask for an expansion, which may already be in the works.
I don’t want an expansion.
This was about fixing some issues in the game as it exists now rather than pushing more LS. From what I have been told by some of my friends, there are event chains that have been broken for weeks on some servers.
How did the thread turn into a “we want moar contents and armors” issue?
Why is this up again? There is nothing wrong with that armor set and asking for a change because of personal ideals of a single person is not an option. (Yes they are just your personal feelings, not the be all end all truth)
Ask for more armor, not changes to those already there.
^This x1000
They’ve already closed at least one other thread.
It all boils down to the fact that because you’re unhappy doesn’t mean everyone else is.
I was chatting with a friend in game this evening and it came to my attention that there is a growing problem with the Living Story schedule.
Don’t get me wrong… I like some of them, and it does give us something new to do every couple of weeks, even if it is only for a few days until we blow through the achievements. So, this thread is NOT about the LS itself. Like it or hate it, it’s there for the foreseeable future.
The problem is that there are some technical issues in the game that need to be addressed, however, from all appearances, they are being ignored.
My friend is on TC. He told me that all the temples (except for Grenth) are broken and cannot complete. On JQ there are broken temples and event chains as well, although not as many as appears to be on TC.
If one were to look in the “bugs” forums, not one thing on the first page is “Fix the LS…” It’s all things that are wrong with the core game.
What worries me about this is that it seems that getting a less-than-stellar LS pushed is more important than the core game.
I have been a supporter of ANet from the beginning. I have defended them through some unpopular decisions, and I still love the game in general.
But, I have to tell you. As long as the Living Story takes precedence over fixing the core game, my disappointment grows.
My suggestion for a fix?
Slow down the LS. Give us one a month, but make it worth the wait. Secondly, devote more resources for fixing the issues we already have in the game. Thirdly, let us know what you’re working on, instead of giving us a “patch update” the day of (or after) it drops. Finally, be more transparent in letting us know what is being worked on, and what is on the back burner for a while.
I do love this game. I just don’t want to see it die because the game itself is broken because we have to many LS updates.
TL;DR:
Fix the game… Let the LS wait.
Urmaugs or Shamans….both relatively easy, and both easily accessible, which is also a plus.
Please take everything you read in the forum with a grain of salt. The game has improved in a lot of areas, but it has its problems as well.
The biggest problem is this forum. There are enough toxic posters that you will get the wrong impression.
Please, don’t take my word for anything. Go play and see if you like it.
I loved GW1.
Saying there was no grind is incorrect.
I am talking about endless speed clearing of UW for ectos, or running Gates of Anguish for Armbraces of Truth, or grinding for Zaishen keys….Why? To use them as currency for other items.
All because people wanted to buy what others were selling. You could sit in Spamadan all day and watch the chat scroll by at a million lines a minute (ok, I’m exaggerating, but not by much) trying to sell high-end goods for (X)platinum + 200 ectos… or Armbraces, which could only be gotten by running the same instance over and over ad nauseum.
Even the official game wiki says:
“Since a player can only hold a maximum of 100 Platinum at any one time, armbraces are used as an alternate currency to facilitate high-value trades, e.g. for hard-to-obtain weapons or miniatures. Other common alternatives include Globs of Ectoplasm and Zaishen Keys.”
Ecto was used long before Factions came along, so please don’t tell me that there was no grind in GW1 before Kurz/Luxon faction grind.
Oh, and how about farming in Bergen Hot Springs?
Or Citadel?
The thing is that the grind wasn’t in “new” content…it was the same OLD content (UW, etc…) for the last 8 (or so since EOTN came out) years now.
The grind here at least is striving for something that is marginally better than dropped items.
So please, take off the rose colored glasses. Nostalgia is great, but please be accurate?
Game…by a long shot….and I spend a LOT of time here, so you can imagine how much time I spend in the game.
I think it’s sad that it has come down to defining success by how much your precursor drop is worth….
Glad I don’t care whether I get another one or not.
Very nice! Thank you for the fashion show.
@ the OP:
You, good sir (or madame) win the internets for the day!
I wear female human medium T3 armor.
Archaic modesty beliefs aside, the armor just looks good. I would rage as much as the people in that “other” Human T3 thread if anyone changed it one bit.
After all, it’s not like your left breast falls out every time you jump. If it’s a personal religious belief, or if you simply don’t like having your “wares” on display, then there are alternatives. Not many, admittedly, but they’re there.
Somehow, there is something sticking in the back of my mind that these folks who have already gotten their gems back, and still have the other armor could possibly get their gems back and a new skin? How is that fair for those who wait?
Something just doesn’t add up here. (kind of off-topic, but still puzzling)
Well, the problem seems to be, that they haven’t had any options to replace the skin.
Sure they got their gems back. What if the skin is applied to their armor?
Would you want to delete all your gear to get rid of it? Not just the skin but the armor set it was used on?
Actually, that’s not what I was saying. I was saying that those who got their 800 gems back already have been asked to delete their skins (or transmute over.) Some have said that they’re not going to do that. I understand perfectly that they don’t want to get rid of their armor, and that’s not what I want them to do.
What I was asking is if a player has already gotten their gems back, and they are still wearing the flamekissed armor when ANet releases the new skin, will their armor convert to the new skin automatically? If so, they’ve already gotten a refund, and they get the new skin without paying for it.
I just didn’t see this as fair to those who wait to see the new skin before they ask for a refund and end up with either the 800 gems or the new skins, and not both.
Thank you all for explaining. I kind of understood, but this thread makes so much more sense to me.
A question:
Does the condition dmg tick the same for everyone’s bleeds no matter who “causes” them? It’s something I have been curious about, but haven’t really been clear. The formula above indicates what each stack of bleeding will tick based on the caster’s condition damage stat. This damage is unaffected by armor so it will tick for the same amount no matter who it’s cast on. All professions are the same in this regard; a ranger and an ele with the exact same condition damage stat will have identical damage dealt per bleed stack.
That’s understandable, but it didn’t really answe the question I was asking. That said, I may have asked incorrectly…
What I meant to ask was that if a warrior and a thief casued bleeding on a mob, does my necro’s condi dmg affect it the same way as if my necro had applied the stacks of bleeding, or do the bleeds tick the same regardless of whether I applied them or someone else?
If you do not destroy the skin then when new skin goes live it will auto reskin.

Once this new artwork is completed, we will then update the Flamekissed Armor Skin so that all existing sets that players have purchased get the new art.
Thank you… I must have missed it…
So, those who have already contacted support and have decided not to comply with the request to “delete” the skin will have it changed for them later, if I am interpreting correctly…
Somehow, there is something sticking in the back of my mind that these folks who have already gotten their gems back, and still have the other armor could possibly get their gems back and a new skin? How is that fair for those who wait?
Something just doesn’t add up here. (kind of off-topic, but still puzzling)
At this point in time, Ascended gear is only truly important in WvW.
The best thing that ANet could do now is separate WvW and PvE and apply whatever “balancing” they need to do only in WvW.
Unfortunately, the way it is now, whatever they do in WvW will detrimentally affect PvE.
Thank you all for explaining. I kind of understood, but this thread makes so much more sense to me.
A question:
Does the condition dmg tick the same for everyone’s bleeds no matter who “causes” them? It’s something I have been curious about, but haven’t really been clear.
With all the hate threads around, I can’t see ANet keeping her around much longer. One or two more LS chapters, and then she will outlive her usefulness. She’s already outlived her enjoyability.
None… I don’t play a Charr…. (just kidding
)
I can’t say whether I will gear up any of my characters or not. Right now, I don’t feel the need, as there is nothing in the game that requires the small boost to stats except maybe WvW, and then that’s even debatable to me.
At some point down the road, I might.
If you do not destroy the skin then when new skin goes live it will auto reskin.

When you kill it, the thing just dies… but if you use one of the handy-dandy little test rifles laying around, the death animation is priceless….
I feel like a splitter would be better that way you don’t have buy yourself a skin to transmute it to you will just take your skin off.
I assumed anyway that they would get rid of the skin for you (in a splitter like fashion) if you ask for a refund. I mean that’s how stores work you get your money back and give them the returned item.
The problem with splitters is that it reverts the armor to the original skin rather than the last skin you used. A set of Crystals would be better, and then use the 800 gems to convert to gold for your desired skins.
800 gems are a nice sum of gold. Even if the exchange rate was 5g per 100, it would be 40g for 800 gems. There are some pretty nice skins out there for 3-4g a piece, unless you’re going for karma armor skins from the Temples.
All I got in response was my 800 gems. No skins, no transmutation crystals or splitters. And a message saying “please delete the armour”, which I am choosing to ignore because it is my main set and I received nothing to replace it with.
So, ANet asked you to destroy the skins, and you’re refusing?
I guarantee you that after they release the new skins, and a short amount of time has passed, anyone caught wearing the Flamekissed skins will probably be /reported and then raged about on the forum. If enough people rage about it, then ANet will be forced into doing something about it.
If Anet tells you to do something, they expect you to do it. I wish you the best, but don’t be surprised if your choice gets you some serious backlash from other people, and maybe even some form of “punishment” from ANet.
This was mentioned in the epic-length thread about Flamekissed armor, but I thought I would kind of cross post it here…
For those who are unhappy with the redesign (when it drops) y’all have said that you will give a refund of gems.
As an added suggestion, might it be possible to give 6 transmutation crystals as well as the gem refund? That way they could convert the gems to cash to pay for new skins and use the crystals to overwrite the Flamekissed.
It won’t solve the issues a lot of players perceive that they have, and this isn’t the place to discuss them, but having those extra Crystals would take a bit of the sting out of having to reskin the Flamekissed that they bought.
Because i don t have option 1…..
And i m stuck with a temporary skin until they decide what the new will be.
If they will release it after ascended armors will be even more painful
Why do you not have option 1? It’s a perfectly reasonable way to keep your armor and runes that you have said you do not want to lose.
If it’s because support will ask you to delete the old skin, have you bothered to ask if overwriting it with a new skin would be accepted as destroying it?
This is actually a good question. Has anyone asked if simply reskinning the skin they bought would suffice?
Also, if anyone from ANet is still reading this thread, is there a possibility that you would give a set of 6 transmute crystals along with the 800 gem refund for those who want it? At least it would be a way for those who do not want the new skins to keep their armor and have a bit of gold to reskin it the way they choose.
EDIT: I kind of cross-posted this as a suggestion in the correct forum
(edited by Ashabhi.1365)
I’ll try to explain another time:
You have a character with for example (my case) celestial armor trasmuted into a skin you like….
Suddenly a new skin appears on the TP you like it better (due to the flames having a unique purplish effect on White colour) you get it.
Now people complain they paid it more (worthless excuse) and anet tells you it will be deleted.
Devs states you won’t have your PREVIOUS SKIN back..
Not only:
If you ask gem refund support asks you to delete the TP item… (should i delete a celestial armor with expensive runes on it?).
More clear now?
Try to say this is more fair than even leaving the armor on the tp.I would answer to your question but you would not like it….
Loss for T3 owners if armor remains in the TP:
-20-40 Gold
-6 trasmutation stones+ they still have achievement
Loss for flamekissed armor:
- EXPENSIVE sets requiring 30 days and LOT OF gold
- potentially up to 60 gold in runes
- 6 trasmutation stones
- previous skin
- Also the fact you got it legit and noone should ethically remove it (this Worth way more than the “lore” cultural complaint). How is it fair?
I see it as this: You have 2 options.
1. Reskin your Flamekissed. There is no reason for you to lose “valuable runes” or destroy your existing armor because of the skin. (Yes, maybe in that regard, ANet should hand you 6 crystals along with your 800 gems. Convert the gems to gold, buy your skins. I think THAT’s fair. The 800 gems convert to a good chunk of gold for you to buy yourself some other skins.)
2. If you decide you like their NEW skins (gasp!) then it’s a moot point. Skin your set and be done with it.
How is that not fair?
Well anet committed a mistake…
T3 owners totally got what they asked.
Flamekissed got the short stick being the only part damaged in the situation. For what?
a lore problem?Or the fact T3 costs more? (it costed 4 to 10 times more to people who got it in the few moths of play).
In the end
Flamekissed got the most damage (partial refund not covering trasmutation stones, previous skin etc etc etc).
Anet has just to introduce another armor….
T3 owners, the less entitled to be listened from every possible ethical point of view, totally got what they asked.
This is not a FAIR compromise nor an ethical solution.
Its also the worst case of double standards you will see in any mmorpg. The exclusive WWW armor still in the TP.
Mjolnir etc still exists……and are not exclusive to elementalists.
Fotm player still got no compensations for what they lost.Like it or not but its just a sign of community decadence…..and anet unfairness.
Look, I’m right there with you about the FoTM losses. I think ANet should fix it.
What you can’t seem to see is that ANet was the one who made the mistake, and got called on it.
Yes, there are a LOT of people who aren’t happy. This was going to be a given no matter which road they went down. So, they came up with a solution that would cost the least amount of backlash and they rolled with it.
All they are going to refund is the cost of the skin? ok…so you get your 800 gems back. How about waiting to see what the new skin is like first? Maybe you’ll like it better. At least wait until it comes out before you have a cow over it.
Transmutation Stones/Crystals? It was a SKIN…no T-stones needed. Double click the little beasties and they auto transmute.
The other skins you had? Ok, I will agree on this one, when they revert, they should revert to whatever skins you were using at the time.
Anything else you may have bought (new characters, extra slots, dyes, nasal inhalers) are all on you. There’s no way ANet should have to refund all of that kind of stuff. You chose to purchase those things, ANet didn’t require you to do so in order to get said skin. Besides, if you were going to go as far as making a new character just for the skins, why not make them Human and go for the REAL T3 skins? (not saying you did this, but from what I undestand, some did.)
What a lot of the “against HCT3 skin removal” crowd is forgetting is that it was never only about the cost. It was about the time/energy/money they invested only to get punched in the face by having the exact same skin listed in the TP for what amounts to much less.
The saddest part about the whole thing was that when other people mentioned listing all the T3 armors in the TP, there were as many people that said “NO!!!”…and a good portion of those were the ones who were saying “Why not let us have Flamekissed?” So, in essence, it was ok to have Human T3, but better not touch those Charr/Asura/Norn/Sylvari skins…
Now who’s the hypocrites?
(edited by Ashabhi.1365)
The details…like the footprints you leave behind on the beach that slowly fade away…or the way the bugs (not targetable) buzz around the swamps…or that moving water, for the most part, looks like moving water…or the way you kick up dust in dry areas when you walk.
The details are just so polished.
The Personal stories after level 30 (or so) are designed to take you through most of the areas designed for players over 30. What I would do is follow the personal stories, and do the hearts and events in those zones until you’re through, and then go do the zones you haven’t done. Wiki will give you a good idea of where the story goes, so do a small search there and it should help.
Good luck to you!!!
I have seen some truly tasteless pet names, and wish there were a report button for them as well, but in general, naming things tasteless names are in the eye of the beholder.
Having said that, there are deliberate references to things that definitely should be “kittened” out.
I think it would be a good idea to throw the “kitten filter” into the game, and then any obscene or offensive names would show up as “kitten” in the game too.
In fact, I think it would be kind of funny if all of a sudden these names and pet names changed from (insert offensive word here) to Kitten. It wouldn’t cost the players anything, because pet names can be changed on the fly without cost.
Not only that, if someone didn’t have the forethought or thought it would be cute to name their character something offensive would have to buy a name-change ticket. Now, before anyone says “that’s not fair,” keep in mind that the original name was chosen by the player, so if it’s offensive enough to get “kittened” then it’s their own fault.
just sayin’

More minis are Cool!
Dogs and Dolyaks make me smile
of course, the rest also rock…
((Haiku FTW!)
Some of the best skins come from GW1.
This is one of my favorites for “clothies” (namely monk, but it could be adapted for eles, mesmers, and necros.)
Actually, the concept in an of itself is not a bad one. I don’t see the need for “soulbound” items excapt maybe for things granted in the Personal Story.
Making it account bound would solve 3 problems:
1. You can’t sell it on the TP, which is the same as Soulbound
2. You can give your alts your hand-me-downs, which is badly needed…
3. (goes with 2) You can hand off items that you can’t use. If your ele gets a big soulbound GS, all you can do is merch it or salvage it, and sometimes you can’t even do that. All you can do is “destroy” it.
So, while his diction and spelling could use some work, the concept is a decent one, imho.
It seems that people are saying ANET is lazy/incompetent because they would rather not re-write the entire game code while it is too hard to use a character slot to level up a preferred race. Am I missing something?

If you took the time to level a race to 80, don’t you think that you would have found you wanted something else long before 80?
Seriously…it seems to me that people are just wanting a race change because they don’t want to put the time and effort into starting a new character.
Now who’s lazy? It’s not like it takes forever to level a new character.
I hope they never implement race change.
You think I’m lazy because i don’t want to level the same class back to 80 that I did once before? You think I’m lazy for wanting to abandon the character I have over 2k+ hours on because I was unlucky enough not to see race specific abilities as important back in august 2012? You think I’m lazy because id rather keep the 2 legendaries I already have on my first elementalist rather than start it all over again?
I understand where you’re coming from, but I still don’t understand why you didn’t know you wanted a different race before level 80.
If it took months and months to level a character (as in some other games) then I could understand it, but I think changing one’s race to avoid re-leveling is like trying to get an “Instant 80.”
As you said yourself, you spent thousands of hours (and a lot of money) on this character. One would think you knew long before now that it was the “wrong” race for what you wanted.
It’s only an opinion, just like yours. Sometimes one needs to live with the choices they make and not depend on someone else to “fix it” for them.
So you’ve never changed your opinion about anything before?
Of course I have changed my opinion in the past.
But I don’t want someone else to “fix” the bad choice I made. It was my choice, and realizing I have been wrong doesn’t mean I am going to ask for someone else to undo what I did. It’s all on me.
