Hopefully not something along the same lines. Thanks for the clarification anyway.
I don’t think this is a very good idea. It really is just a bad mechanic overall. Why would you make the strong stronger? It was bad in DAoC as relics, it’s bad in GW2 as Orbs of Power.

If they come out with more Ascended gear they’re going to be losing a bunch of loyal customers. A whole lot of people like GW2 because it was advertised as not having a gear treadmill. There was already a sizeable backlash when they introduced Ascended jewellery, and I think I saw somewhere that they said they had reconsidered and don’t plan on adding any more gear treadmill.
lol no, they said Ascended gear would come out eventually. They never backtracked on that.
The people who have complained about ascended gear have thinned out.
No, they have just quieted down because they figured Anet changed their mind after all the angry players.
-Crafting increased to 500 and ascended gear can be crafted at 500. However, it will be time-gated
Ah, well as long as the “time gating” isn’t that harsh, and the mats aren’t like mini legendary weapons, I would be alright with this approach.
(edited by Ashanor.5319)
For starters, Ascended is as high as they’ll go, they already said it. Also, for those who care to remember, they said they would eventually be releasing Ascended weapons and armor at some point. Honestly, this announcement should come as no surprise to anyone. In fact I’ve seen a few posts on here asking when it would finally be happening. Guess what? It’s finally happening.
No, they said they were rethinking their stance on vertical progression or something. Where are you guys getting its happening? Some patch notes I haven’t seen? If they are going to have entire sets of ascended gear for laurels, they need to increase the amount you get from dailies/monthly by 3x at least imo. Not everyone wants to run fractals to progress and the current rate is already very slow even just for a jewelry.

The so called “loyal” customers most of them already left at the onset of Ascended gear, so at this stage, I don’t think it matters to Arenanet.
The people that are staying well most of them probably want more gear and “progression” even so this progression isn’t nearly as close as other games have.
Actually, no. I am one of those players and I didn’t leave yet. I don’t like the gear treadmill but figure it hasn’t reached the point of no return… yet.
It’s definitely true that warriors are struggling right now, but there are warrior players out there that are definitely holding their own. Watch some of defektive’s streams and tell me that warrior’s not viable. He goes both long bow build as well as full melee builds, and does completely fine (in fact, excels in what he does).
That said, coming back after 6 months, doing the exact same button smashing and you expect the game to have changed enough to cater to your skills just makes you pathetic, to be honest.
You really can’t point the one of the best warriors in the game who has been playing warrior since beta and who has a team that focuses a lot on building around warriors weaknesses because they have been playing together so long and be like “look over there, warrior is fine!”. I’m sorry, but representation (compared to other classes) in the leader boards is what will tell you whether warrior is fine or not.
(edited by Ashanor.5319)
5 point Progression Conquest, if that’s a name for it. Each team must cap points in an order, with the middle point being fought over, once capped a team can push onto the enemies home point.
So point Red spawn … 1 2 3 4 5 … Blue Spawn
Red takes 1 then 2 then 3.
Blue takes 5 then 4 then 3.
Red cannot take 4 till they own 1 2 and 3 or 5 until they own 1 2 3 and 4
Same for blue, they cannot take 2 without 5 4 3 and cant take 1 without 5 4 3 and 2.This requires defence on point 2 and 4, and TDM builds on point 3, to push the enemy off. Defense on 2 (red) and 4 (blue) is important incase the middle is lost.
This game mode would not have downed, but not rally. When you are downed you either have a friend help you or you heal yourself or die.
This is basically Team Fortress 2 style point control.
http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/List_of_game_modes
Also, here is my old clans custom orange server. Just did a search for our clan name on youtube and found an old version.
It is 5 point control with a highly customized orange map. Also, I would love to see 5 point control in this format for GW2, but I would also like to see CtF and Arena.

I have actually seen a warrior do something similar to a thief shadowstep in the last couple days. I think it might have just been a speedhack that he turns on long enough to get out of range but it causes him to look like he teleported. Don’t tell me it was lag, I know the difference after playing MMORPGs since 1997. lol
I’d rather see rally limited to 1 rez per stomp, or removed all together. It is a bad mechanic.
I have the same issue with hint completion, only my hint is “repair your armor” or something like that. Been that way forever.
Still having the same issues. I updated drivers, I repaired the GW2 installation, I ran virus scans, I repaired my registry and cleared out unnecessary files, and I defragmented my hard drive.. even though it hasn’t been that long since my last defrag. Still getting strange error report crashes. I keep sending them to Anet, hopefully they get fixed.
Unsuspecting Foe… and yet you have 48% crit chance without it. Talk about fail. Signet of Fury is only going to cover you 2/3 of the time. Assuming no one is there to remove it from you.
You do realize that unsuspecting foe stacks with your crit chance, right? My build has unsuspecting foe and ~40% crit, nothing wrong with having 90% crit on a stunned target imo. I am also not as squishy as you might think with around ~1500 toughness. Of course, I can drop my power a bit and use Melandru instead of Hoelbrak or even pop a different Amulet in if I want to.
Not that I am defending his build, just stating the obvious.
Some warriors are doing just fine.
Yes, some warriors are doing fine, because they have good teams that build around their weaknesses more than they should have to. Something that shouldn’t have to be done and for the most part doesn’t have to be done with the rest of the classes. Those warriors would also do much better on other classes. They are basically playing with a handicap.
People dont hate conquest – conquest is fine
People hate to have ONLY conquest
Agreed. Although after 1800 games of nothing but conquest, I am starting to hate it.
You know, if this game had a monthly fee you’d have good reason to complain.
But it’s not enough.
Really sick of people using that as an excuse for everything Anet does. Everyone here paid for the game and a lot of the people here have spent even much or more since the game released on the store. Anet has even been quoted saying they make enough in this model that they won’t need true boxed expansions. Stop trying to use that as an excuse to make whatever they want and acting like the people playing and paying have no say just because we don’t “have a monthly fee”.
Well, you can get 30/50 in 3 weeks to a month if you know how to trade and efficiently do the tasks.
This is how I did it.
8/8 devotion, 6/8 fellowship, 3/18 honor, 6/8 resilience, 7/8 valor (link not working for some reason) If you go to the HoM calculator and type in Ashen Shadowblade you can pull me up.
It took about 3 weeks not long before GW2 released. I did have a little bit of a bonus in the form of minipets my dormant account collected over the years, but it didn’t help that much. Most of my points can be acquired through trading.

Yeah it sucks being forced into something (when it isn’t crazy OP).
Ele’s didn’t mind bunkering all those months ago when they just couldnt be beaten
I don’t see Necro’s complaining about insane terrormancer dhuumfire buildsBut I can completely see why Warrior’s might resent playing CC builds, especially when the skill floor is a lot higher than the bog standard GS build. (not saying that is why you aren’t happy with it btw!)
That is the main problem with this game. People want to play classes in ways they enjoy and end up forced into specific weapon sets, builds, and roles. Also, the standard GS build isn’t what it once was, just an fyi.
What’s even worse than that small amount of PvP achievements is that the WvW ones are truly next to impossible to get.
Well, some lockdown builds combine target support with some burst and survivability, too, even if they are less mobile.
I’m aware, just saying.
As soon as I stopped trying to make the deeps happen and relied on my teammates for that spike / cleave – my job became much clearer. If my team is cleaving a downed body, then my job is to interrupt the ressers and keep them in that AoE cleave.
Because of that it makes trait choices, sigil choices and the like much easier since I’m trying to fullfil two roles (roaming / team fight) not 3 (roaming / team fight / aoe cleave).
Think this is the approach a lot more Warriors need to take. Everyone knows the Warrior CC is very strong and if the rumblings from devs is anything to go by we are going to get a bit more sustain in the future (fingers crossed).
Warriors need to stop trying to fit in to the current roles (Bunker, Condi, Cleave etc) and we need to create our own role in which we are able to stick on a target, provide some middle of the road constant pressure and most importantly keep them in one place for the other guys in the team to deal the real damage.
Using tremor on an opposition player as he moves towards rezzing his team mate (before they have poppped Stab) is just as important as getting that guy down in the first place.
I think a lot of us already know we are better at target support than other roles. The point I think is that a lot of warriors really aren’t happy with that. I know I am not, at least.
As with all speed boosts in GW2, you still receive it in combat, but it is 25% faster than combat speed, which is not the same as non combat speed.
streaming some tournaments.
twitch.tv/defektive
You can find the video* here, I assumed you watched it since you knew the builds name.
edit: oh you’re a different guy, sorry x)
Ah. I have tried that set since the patch and wasn’t a big fan. M/Sh Sw/M right? It’s alright.
Hoelbrak would be kind of a waste when you have no form of might stacking going. Big thing would be sundering mace in this build, as it gives you lower cd on two of your CC’s. And after thinking for a bit he probably takes warriors sprint over vigorous focus, since he is running without swiftness.
I could probably figure out the rest if I watched the stream again, but my internet is not letting me :<
I don’t agree about Hoelbrak. More DPS is more DPS. In my build I am sitting at around 1500 toughness without Melandru. I think that is fine personally. I take Hoelbrak for the extra power and -20% condition, personally. Anything else is just a bonus. Link to this video you guys are talking about please.
(edited by Ashanor.5319)
I’m guessing 0, 10, 30, 0, 30
unsuspecting foe
shield mastery/dogged march, sundering mace, cleansing ire
warrior sprint/vigorous focus, destruction of the empowered, burst masteryzerk ammy, sigil of paralyzation om mace/shield set and melandru runes
So pretty much a standard M/Sh/GS build with vigor on stance? I currently go back and forth between 0 20 20 0 30 and 0 10 30 0 30. If it was that simple you really think this guy would care whether it is shared? Of course, I didn’t watch him play so who knows. Also, I find Hoelbrak to work better than Melandru for me.
Mostly GW2 error crashes. Had about 4 of those today. My last crash was a BSoD during a Skyhammer match. I don’t remember ever having a BSoD on this PC except for when using beta software.
I am currently repairing the GW2 installation to see if that changes anything.
Probably not. They will probably say they only have the tech to roll back a character and only if you are hacked or something like that. Not sure though, I could be wrong.
Skyhammer wasn’t fun.
What people want is deathmatch, so people like maps that present the least obtrusive mechanics and allow players to actually fight against each other.
Not necessarily true. I want 2v2 and 3v3 arenas and also want CtF added to the game, but I also liked Skyhammer.
3 weapon sets would incredibly break the class, we’d be too strong in forms of mobility & CC.
Not really. I don’t think it would be overpowered at all, but I don’t feel like managing a third weapon set. If I wanted to manage a million weapons sets I would play ele or engie.
Same issue here. Less of them in Heart of the Mists, but in DR and open world it is like constant crashes. I hadn’t had a crash since a few months after release prior to this patch. Updated video drivers but that didn’t help. My brother has a similar PC (like 80% of the hardware is the same) and says he isn’t having any crashes.
Thank god skyhammer gets removed. Better delete this map, with maps like that esport will never exist in gw2.
Yes, because AoE condition damage spamming is so much more “e-sport” like. lol
Give me a break. This game is never going to be e-sport anyway, and shouldn’t be.
Sadly, the tPvP community seems intent on killing itself off. You are correct, new maps and variation on the meta dependent on maps would bring in new players, which would make the ranking system more accurate and make tPvP more fun for everyone. The few elite at the top and the people trying to emulate them can’t stand change though. If it isn’t their meta (AoE spam, whether that be direct damage or condition damage) it is all the sudden not balanced. lol
Bring Skyhammer back to tPvP. Stop listening to the elite and the wanna-be elite who want the meta to remain exactly the same at all times.
You all don’t get it. It’s new AND bad. Nobody said they don’t like new things. They don’t like bad things no matter how new they are.
More than Spirit Watch the map demands you play certain professions with certain builds. It’s narrow and any serious teams will gravitate towards the most minmaxed compositions because that’s what try hards do.
Demands you play certain builds? You mean… almost exactly like the current meta? Could it be that THAT is exactly why you didn’t like it? I think so.
Only adjustable mechanic should be dodgeable cannon and even that is a stretch. Having the cannon undodgeable makes it more important on this map than the secondary objectives on any other map.
I agree. If any changes are made it should only be making the cannon able to be dodged/blocked, but the cannon should probably have a shorter charge up time if that is the case.
This is such a shame. It’s the same small group of forum qq’ers once again and now we’re binning progress. Just throwing around a word they don’t understand “It’s not ‘competitive’!” Well it is, you kill the other team, capture points and eventually someone wins. So now you can fall to your death? Guess what, all the other players are equally capable of falling too. But what you say? Some classes are better at pushing than others? I’m sorry, but we’ve been bringing certain classes to tpvp to fill certain roles for the past year, nothing has changed.
Pretty much this. It was creating its own meta, and that just isn’t acceptable to the top 100 or the people that try to emulate them and fail, so they complained here and it was removed. It’s a fun map and was really only hated on for being different. They claim it didn’t take “skill” but neither does the current meta they so love. I mean, do you really think AoE spamming (pre patch) or AoE condition spam (post patch) take any more skill than positioning or deciding when the best time to use stability is?
Personally, I prefer the meta that was evolving from Skyhammer and think it takes more skill (and is more fun) than AoE condition spam. Whatever, just one more reason not to queue for tPvP I guess. You guys are shooting yourselves in the foot with your insistence on YOUR way or the highway gaming.
When they eventually (if ever) release a true Capture the Flag map will that be your next target? What about 2v2 and 3v3 arenas? Doesn’t fit your meta so whine on the forums to get rid of it?
The worst part of all of this is Anet keeps caving to forum whines and it only makes the whining 10x worse than it would be if they disregarded the majority of the whines and looked at it objectively, or just didn’t cater to the demands of a few elitists because they are afraid the game will never be “e-sport” if they don’t. All this is doing is further stagnating the PvP scene for the sake of a few elitists and as long as you keep listening to them, the PvP portion of GW2 will continue to be a dying failure.
(edited by Ashanor.5319)
Well, tPvP becomes just that much less interesting. Every time a new map is released, the tPvP community whines until it is removed because they don’t want to adapt. I guess if you want to play new fresh maps hotjoin is the only place to do it as tPvP gets more and more outdated. When they finally (hopefully) release a capture the flag map, the tPvP elites will probably complain about that as well. It’s too bad fun is thrown out of tPvP for what the “elite few” perceive as balance, which is in actuality just because they don’t want to play another way besides what they already know and use regularly.

Temple of the silent storm was not removed and was only tweaked to eliminate certain exploits (cough portal channeling cough), and it is still in rated match rotation, because, guess what, it’s a fun and balanced map.
Raid on the Capricorn, Spirit Watch, and not SkyHammer, are just bullkitten. Maybe SkyHammer will be able to return to map rotation with some (a lot of) tweaks someday, but as it is now, it’s not a map for competitive play.
In YOUR opinion.

il make it short 2 bunkers on close point 3 cc heavy classes on cannon .. broken and very boring gameplay , jump pads should have faster and stronger jump cuz now it feels like it is in slow motion , and to all ppl that say this map req skill ? haha very funny , in game where you can die instant it cannot be skillfully balanced it takes 1 small mistake or ..the fact some classes don’t have same cd on be it cc or stability ..those that do have upper hand ,skilled or not.
Oh and jumping on glass ..so when it brakes to insta pull 1 guy in to the hole does not req skill itc just something some classes can do others cant.
Takes about as much skill as AoE spamming conditions, maybe more since you actually need to be aware of stability and positioning. lol
Love the map (and for the most part, I am not a fan of conquest). Don’t change it or listen to the elitists who think it should play perfectly with their current teams and builds.
Now, next map needs to be Capture the Flag then Arena 2v2 3v3 5v5, go!
Just wanted to chime in that I love the new map. I don’t think it needs any changes personally. The people who don’t like it are just angry they will have to switch specs for it or change team comps. Not everything should play perfectly for your condition spam meta, sorry.
Not a bad video, but the build isn’t new (not sure if you thought it was). I know I have used it (but sometimes replace signet mastery with the new warrior’s sprint) and usually signet of stamina and endure pain with balanced stance instead of what you have. I have only used mine in sPvP though, and generally use valkyrie (sometimes berserkers) with it.
(edited by Ashanor.5319)
I’m not talking about only pistol 5. Thief can be specialized for blind on stealth and also have multiple utilities that apply blind, even a ranged one. There is just no way to beat a good thief who is specialized to take advantage of the new blind with this build. You would have to get extremely lucky.
The eviscerate is especially telling. Look what they did to it for what I can only assume was the sake of “balance”.
My rifle build went down the drain after June 25th build, that hurt.
Mine too. I have been trying to come up with a decent one since then and haven’t had much luck.
Not much new in your build over the other hammer mace/shield builds. As a matter of fact, I would consider some of your changes detrimental to the build (no stability, rune choice etc). I myself posted a hammer mace/shield build the day after the patch.
And it mostly didn’t change compared to before patch. Only change: 10 points out of tactics, Leg specialist out, 10 points into defense, Cleansing Ire in.
This is a deadly 1v1 fighter (you make up for your squishiness with a lot of pressure). In group fights you have to make sure you are not focused. You can even kill bunkers with this and a bit of luck.
The main problem is your complete lack of mobility.
New problem is also blindness. It’s a decent 1v1 fighter, but there are a few builds and classes that can decimate it without much trouble. When I say decimate, I mean they can seriously make you rethink your build you got beat so bad. lol
A blind spamming thief is one, and my friends necro spec is another (which is odd because this build normally does pretty well against normal necros).

Those Hammer Mace/Shield builds are pretty similar to what I posted right after the patch.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/Opinions-on-some-builds/first#post2328759
Of course, the build has evolved some since I first posted I was testing it with mace shield.
Yea, this seems to be making fun of the people who for some reason seem dead intent on proving warrior isn’t that bad. Generally they play other classes and come over and make a warrior and “prove” warrior is awesome by facerolling a couple new players in sPvP, then head back to their Mesmer or Necro main.
