Remove stealth on miss/evade/block

If you could only hit backstab once, it would be virtually impossible to land on anyone with common sense. All they would have to do is spin in circles until you pop out of stealth. lol

The problem is stealth windows are very short, and the enemy knows you are coming and can already take action to avoid a backstab.. and a lot of times a good player will. No, I am not talking about the backstab cheese builds, I am taking about standard thief backstabs which are what would be hit the hardest by a change like this.

Millions of players but so few in WvW??

I think part of the reason is because its so hard to get any small group or solo action in WvW without getting zerged down. Personally, as an ex DAoC player, all I did in RvR was 8 mans and solo/small group stealth wars. There really isn’t much room for this in WvW, at least not that I have seen. If I am wrong please correct me.

I also agree with the guy above me about names being taken out. It was great in DAoC to know the names of the people you were up against. It gave it more of a community feel. You knew the names of the good RvR players, and every time they made a kill in chat with the appropriate color (Red, Green, or Blue, for Albion, Hibernia, or Midgard). It was also helpful for knowing what was going on in the RvR areas.

Sure there are some decent ones, but also many poor or undeserving ones.. that’s why being able to purchase your Com Tag is a bad idea by ANET.

I would much rather have a ranking system based on players voting on each others performances after events or WvWvW battles / PvP zones.
When a player reaches a certain amount of votes they gain a rank up the command chain and then when they reach a ceertain level they are offered the tag by way of achievement.
Not as easy as it sounds to implement i guess, especailly in WvWvW where the players are zoning in/out all the time but I am sure there is some bright sparks out in the ether that could cobble something together.

+5000 this. Getting a commander icon should be merit based o the view of the people you play with. Not loot sold from dungeon crawls and market manipulation. I know a number of folks I listen to over some “commanders”.

‘Merrit based’ has problems too, though. Based on PVP badges? Just participating and earning badges doesn’t make you a good leader. Based on votes? What’s to stop people from just having the entire guild and/or alliance vote for them? I can assure you that this will not be an improvement. Also, some of the best PVP leaders I’ve known were from really small guilds, where they were not even the guild leader.

It may have its problems too, but it is certainly better than buying it with gold or gems.

Last MMO I played that had housing was DAoC, and I have missed it ever since then. Wildstar and ESO are the two MMOs I am keeping an eye on at the moment.

Not sure that glory should be how you get a legendary. Maybe if they changed up the way they award glory to actually reward players for contributing to their team, instead of rewarding them for trying to kill everything in sight with no regards for the objectives or teamplay.

/sarcasm I know right. It requires so much skill to grind legendary weapons in PvE, why should those PvP’ers get anything for free? /end sarcasm

Is this a joke? I mean basically the only requirement to getting a PvE legendary is an extraordinary grind. Why should it be anything different for PvP? As a matter of fact, it would take much less time to get a legendary in PvE than it would to get 750,000 to 1,000,000 glory. If anything the cost is too high. As for the person that said rank 100 is where they will likely implement legendary weapons for PvP. Do you realize how long it would take to get to a rank 100 in this game? You could have made 5 PvE legendary weapons in that time.. if not more. Just to get to rank 29 it took over 900 games and the higher rank you go the worse it gets. Let’s just average those 900 games at 10 minutes a piece for a total of 9000 minutes, or 150 hours of nothing but sPvP. I have heard estimates of it taking something like 3000 hours of sPvP just to reach the current max rank. Let’s be conservative and say it took only half of that at 1500 hours. It would take you a full year of playing 4 hours of sPvP every single day. If we went with the 3000 hour estimate you are looking at 8 hours every single day for a year.

How long do you think it takes to get a PvE legendary? I can tell you this, it isn’t anything close to 1500 hours. If it was it means the only people that have legendary weapons are people who have spent 10 hours a day playing (approx.), every day, since release. Sorry but that just isn’t the case. It definitely isn’t 3000 hours or we are looking at 20 hours a day, every day, since release. The grind to get a PvP legendary weapon should be no more of a grind than the PvE versions, end of story.

If you are so new tot he game the easiest class to level would be Warrior with a very close second being the Guardian. Also some of those you think are Warr’s might just be a Guard.

I’m sorry, but as someone who has played Warrior, Guardian, and Ranger… Ranger easily takes the title of easiest class to level. Take the Juv Bear pet when you make the character and never look back.

I enjoy having a pinch of roleplay in my gaming experience. This is why I always play a Human Male in any game that gives me the choice. I also make the character look as much like me as possible if the option is given.

Interesting. That is what I do as well. I try to make my characters look as much like myself as possible. He actually looks amazingly similar. lol

I do the same. I can’t stand playing other races for some reason. All of my Humans even look exactly the same. I tried to play an Asura at one point, but the falling over and floating attacks annoyed me.

8/10 for Fiora Sans (as Swimsasa missed it) – Simple, yet unique first name fitting for a noble with a monosyllabic last name to complement it. My only question is how ‘Sans’ would be pronounced – would it be like the word in French?

5/10 for Swimsasa Stoon – As unique as it is, I don’t really like the sound of it when I say it in my head. Despite this – I like the double S in the name.

If you are making a new character, why do you need the level 60+ versions? The major versions (level 39) are very reasonably priced. I’m still working on my first character, (since I rerolled, played 1000 sPvP games, and quit for a month) yet I was still able to afford two level 62 exotic weapons, one of which has superior blood on it.

I am in a 475 or so member guild that usually has around 50-75 members on at prime time. I have done some grouping with members, but mostly on the Hirathi Northern Camps DE. Maybe I will see if any of them are interested in running AC. Thanks.

I only take people with lower lvl than 80 to dungeons if they do not have any lvl 80. I am not a twink lvl service.

I have been playing since the beta events (and early access) but after release I ended up rerolling many times (almost all classes to at least 30) until I finally settled back on my original decision of Warrior. I also took a break from the game for a little over a month and spent a pretty large amount of time doing sPvP (919 games played) and a little WvW. So, this Warrior is my highest level character.

Tbh the only thing that gets under my skin is when people intentionally gimp their characters with bad gear when they have ample access to a decent set for their level and class, to see what they can get away with, this rings especially true for Magic Finders.

I would understand why people wouldn’t want to take a low level if they were wearing gear that intentionally gimped them. My Warrior is wearing full rares, including weapons and jewelry. Runes are 4x Divinity 2x Vampirism and I use Blood and Bloodlust Sigils currently. I have been using the 36% chance to steal health on crit pies and my crit is over 90% currently. Everything is Strong (power/precision) gear, and I am speced slightly hybrid but my HB probably does around 4.5-5k generally. Could probably get it up to 6-6.5k if I re-specialized to a pure glass cannon build.

Is it normal for groups to not want anyone who isn’t 80? I was expecting it to be easy to get a group for AC since the level is 35 and my Warrior is 50 and in full rares with major sigils and runes. The common response seems to be something along the lines of, “Oh, you aren’t 80? Sorry.”. Not that I blame them if the system is designed in a way that discourages taking anyone who isn’t 80, but it kind of defeats the purpose of it being a level 35 dungeon in my opinion.

I usually fair very well against Elementalists with my balanced cc heavy build (0 30 30 10 0 – Axe/Mace/Hammer). I also use Leg Specialist in my build.

SWTOR – Huttball, The fighting is going to be where the ball is, or in middle, The Map is frankly the best designed Structured Map seen in an MMO to date.

Ugh. You are one of them. I absolutely hated Huttball. The map was designed horribly for regular random group play. If you even had a partial premade it was a HUGE advantage because of the way the map was designed and because certain classes were a massive boon on that map. It’s also insanely boring.

Huttball was the best ‘e-sportish’ MMO pvp design to come out in a long time. I loved it. I also solo queued the majority of the time and at best had a 3-man going into it.

Also premades are supposed to stomp pugs.

Yes, e-sportish… yet it was in a random queue for pick up groups. That was the problem with it. Sure, premades generally beat pugs, but in Huttball the gap was exagerated insanely.

I play all 8 classes and Warrior is easily the one that can tear through PvE with the least effort/thought put into it.

Every class can be used to solo, but for easy mindless tearing through things, go Warrior. Warrior is very bad at healing and getting rid of conditions but can tear through groups before healing becomes an issue, usually.

You didn’t play Ranger properly if you think Warrior is a better solo PvE class. There is nothing in this game that can touch a Ranger for solo PvE leveling.

Definately Ranger for solo PvE imo. Standard pulls while leveling were 4-7 mobs with a juvenille bear tanking. Ranger was pretty untouchable.

As for the people saying Warrior. A Warrior really doesn’t even come close to Ranger.

Devs probably realized that as much as people want PvP on the forums, the reality is that PvP brings in hardly any subs (or sales). PvE is where the money’s at.

You couldn’t be more wrong. WoW was a game with a very large focus on PvE and even there 40% of the population played Battlegrounds regularly and 20% played Arena regularly. Those numbers came direct from Blizzard by the way. Let’s not forget that in classic WoW they also said less than 10% of the population participated in raid content. People participating in end game PvE only increased the more they dumbed it down, which in turn made the hardcores angry.

All though the speed buff is nice its not that great, pets still seem to miss and as soon as a few aoe’s are stacked, or a boss hits them they are nearly dead.
From anets philosophy for rangers it seems that we are going to have to rely on pets for dps. With terrible AI and no dodging pets seem more like a meat shield not something i want to rely on, i was hoping to take a route that i wouldn’t rely on my pet. This seems out the window now

If only we could forgo our pets for a DPS increase to ourselves.

What prevents you from having two of the same weapon and building up the stacks using one and then switching to the other for the 5% increase on top of that?

A lot of people do this in WvW since it is so easy to kill some mobs and cap the stacks.

I play Thief and Warrior mostly. My Warrior stomps 95% of Thieves. The only time they win is if they catch me at low health or with everything on cooldown. I play Hammer/Axe/Mace.

Unfortunately (or I guess for me, fortunately :P) most players are bad and have no idea what they’re doing.

Or, you just aren’t a very good bunker. That is much more likely than your answer. A good Bunker isn’t going to die 1v1, and if they did it would take a long time and they would have to make some mistakes.

I dont think it’s a matter of the capability of knight being bad or new to spvp, but a balance issue. No skill should be able to do 17k damage(Cloak and Dagger results in back stab, so I consider it 1 skill) to any class, as any class. The highest damage I’ve ever seen was from a great sword warrior’s 100 blades during the beta, and it only did 9.5k and that got nerfed(slightly).

HB is capable of doing much higher than that (on live), nearly double, if you eat the full duration for a glass cannon Warrior, and are a glass cannon yourself.

It’s still bad, damage isn’t everything.

I’m crossing my fingers for P/P buffs, that was the main reason I made a Thief to begin with but it’s just so niche and setup so terribly that I can’t deal with playing, despite the fact it’s my favorite kit from a flavor standpoint.

The biggest issue I’ve had with this game so far is that the devs are so quick to (rightfully) nerf OP abilities/kits but so slow to buff UP abilities/kits.

You can play P/P and do well is sPvP. It’s just annoying when you realize you could be doing better as other builds. P/P does have major issues that need to be fixed though.

This really isn’t true at all. If you are getting 2v1 or 3v1 by a Thief, there is a problem alright, but it isn’t Thieves.

Sadly, they are infesting sPvP as well. It seems every other Guardian, Engineer, or Elementalist is a bunker spec.

The point is that Warrior, Guardian and Rangers do not have the damage output the thief has at the same cheap cost. Probably you haven’t played them enough.
I can faceroll people with just a chain of skills, you can’t do this with Guardians, Warriors or Ranger. Of course there are some builds that needs to be toned down, but it is another topic.

People die to my Warrior inside of a skill chain regularly, and he has 8.5k more health than my Thief, 400 more toughness all the time and 600 more toughness while chilled, cripple, or immobilized, and does just as much sustained damage as my D/P Thief and more sustained damage than my P/P Thief (who also happens to be speced way more offensively than the Warrior). My Warrior can also knock you down, then cripple you which also applies an immob for 1 second and gives him fury, then apply a weakness to you and knock you back, then he can switch to his other set and knock you down again, then spam some damage attacks on you and then when you try to run he can throw bolas at you. If you try to attack you are nearly dead anyway so it doesn’t matter. If a friend shows up to help you I just pop endure pain and finish you off. Oh, and I also have fury up almost all the time. Each weapon set has a cripple which gives me a 1 second immob which also gives me 3 seconds of fury. I have 20% more fury up time thanks to runes. I proc 10 seconds of fury if you hit me for more than 5k or so in one hit, my elite can be popped for 35 seconds of fury, and I have a 5% chance to pop 30 seconds of fury every time you hit me. I have 55% crit, so more like 75% when fury is up.

What is so great about Thief again? Most drop dead in a couple hits. If they get caught in my cc chain and don’t have a stunbreaker available they will die without even touching me.

Thieves, Warriors, and Rangers are the easiest to kill, Guardians, Elementalists, Engineers, Necromancers, and Mesmers are the tougher ones to kill. I play as Hammer/Axe/Mace by the way.

*Unload should stack bleeds for each shot. It would be a significant buff to Thief condition builds but not entirely overpowered because players have loads of condition removals.

No thank you. This would completely destroy my burst damage Unload build which is already weaker than many other builds. Condition Thief is fine for the most part.

I don’t want to destroy the class, I just want thieves be funny and challenging to play as they should be. Right now, they are the easiest to play profession which also the worse player out of this game could have nice results at playing it.

Really? I have played pretty much all classes in this game and I would say that Warrior (hammer/axe/mace) and Guardian (burn or triple med) were just as easy as Thief, and all Ranger does is auto attack and burst with quickness.

Changes I would make for P/P builds.

- Body Shot changed to a cripple
- Combined Training buffed to 10% instead of 5%
- Ankle Shots changed from 60% chance to cripple for 3 seconds to 60% chance to immobilize for 3 seconds
- Unload reduced to 4 Initiative, animation sped up by 25%, damage buffed by 5%
- Black Powder gives 2 seconds Stealth on use

General changes:

- Flanking Strike now evades in place has a .25 second immobilize and the animation is 25% faster
- Sniper Rifle or Crossbow added for a single target 1200 range WvW weapon
- Power Shots changed to 10% more damage with Shortbow and Sniper Rifle/Crossbow and switches places with Quick Venoms.
- Self root removed from Shadow Shot
- Steal is no long able to interrupt other skills

Well, that is what I can think of for now. If I think of any more I will add them. Shadow Arts and Acrobatics could definitely use some fixes.

My favorite thing to do is pop endure pain when another Warrior knocks me down, then whack him in the head with my hammer and knock him down when I get up.

If they nerf some dagger skills i hope they will buff pistols or bow which are really weak in compare with daggers. If developers something nerf they must something buff so the class is balanced and not only nerf, nerf, nerf until class is useless.

I’d love it if they actually buffed the sustained damage of P/P, made Body Shot worth using (cripple + damage would be nice, or a knock back), and sped up the animation on Unload.
