Why are single digits LB ranks going up against triple digit rankers?
Similar stuff is happening in Team Arena so you cant really say because Solo Arenas only has been out 5 days.
Hoping we get that pvp guy to answer and find out if its ever going to change or why the system is messing up so bad.

p.s. I think everyone would like LB ranks to ALSO show up after matches since its a better comparison over glory ranks! thanks soooo much

What Anet should do for solo q when dividing teams is put the highest rank on 1 side, the next highest on the other side, the next highest back on the other side, etc.. so teams be like:

110 99

This would fix sync q and make the top players have to actually work for their rank.

Work-around (like Super said): Add everyone above your rating to your friendslist. Add everyone around your rating to you friendlist. Stalk the ones around your rating and queue when they queue. Avoid everyone above your rating, as in queue when they’re in a game. Friendlist wars 2

Actually this did happen in WoW Battlegrounds even after they put the 5 queue limit into place. There were even mods that automated the queuing for you.

It’s really not. I have a friend with an almost identical build to mine who plays pretty much the same as me. He doesn’t switch classes based on maps or other teams comps and is currently in the top 30 playing warrior. Here is the thing, starting from the neutral MMR position if you get a bunch of lucky wins early, it shoots you up the boards and then you get grouped with good players and don’t have to worry about it as much (I believe he went 10-1 on day one). If you get a bunch of loses early it has the opposite effect.

^ As it should. If you want to win you have to adapt to the map you’re playing and the team comp you get.

Except, you shouldn’t have to adapt by switching to different classes, you should learn how to do it with the class you initially chose before knowing the map and other team comp.

I’m just about sick of having to spell this kind of stuff out to people in this game.

I play different professions for different maps that I find optimal.

Which really shouldn’t be allowed, even in team queue (I said this a long time ago as well). Once you load a game you should be locked into it on that character, no switching to what works best on that map or what works best against the other team. This just forces everyone into doing it for the obvious advantages.

I have pretty much given up at this point. It’s boring (conquest as usual), there is something wrong with the matchmaking, and people are absuing the two minutes to hop on a teamspeak/vent together etc.

They should have just added team arena 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5, and added a ctf mode.

Yeah, this is a bit annoying, but if you click the “leave instance” button above your minimap after the match ends but before it kicks you out, you will return to where you started rather than go to the mists.

Thanks for the work-around. I still think it should be automatic though.

Ashenor, you don’t face premades, but you still face much stronger teams once you fall to the level where people your rating do not play as much. You get teammates from below your level. The ones from above are already teamed at their level.

Kind of disheartening. I guess I will see how it goes tonight at prime time.

Whirling Axe healing me for 9750 with no healing power!? YES PLEASE!

More like, it would heal you for roughly 1750, with a 3 second cast time, without being able to gain that kind of healing for another 20 seconds (ASSUMING you hit every single attack). In 3 seconds of healing signet you gain 1200 health. Disparity much?

Yes, because Healing Signet (a perfectly balanced skill) is so comparable to Axe 5 giving you a second pretty much full heal every 20 seconds (or whatever the cooldown is, can’t remember atm). lol

Heavy Armor is almost nothing in this game btw…

The difference between heavy and light is 15% reduced damage. Dont tell me that is nothing . Then there is double the health pool. You cant honestly say double the health pool is nothing either.

Read above. You have to factor everything in class balance. Your argument is like me looking at classes that have decent access to protection and vigor and whining that it is overpowered.

Considering wars have highest armor and highest hp in the game, sitting at 400 health per second is quite literally ridiculous.

In arenas it’s balanced. The slightest bit of coordination will still wreck a warrior with healing signet up, let alone an actual premade team focusing the warrior down.

You know, that is true then. I have to agree there with you. How about other classes, like thieves malice signet? and eles resto signet? Giving extreme love to a healing signet on a class with high armor and high health, while doing nothing for thief and ele whose health is literally half that and also armor being less, i need to call that patch not cool. /:

Edit: I agree healing signet did need a buff, and this is alright. It doesnt grant them beast/god mode, lol, but they should at least be a little fair, right?

You keep acting as if high health means something. The classes with less health have frequent access to other things, such as protection (which makes your comment about highest armor hilarious) and vigor (guardian can have it every time they crit for a mere 5 points). Healing Signet is completely fair. In the majority of cases, Healing Surge is still better because you are less susceptible to spike damage and poison spam.

It is also pretty well known that vitality is the least desirable stat in HotM. Nobody uses Knight’s Amulet, there is a reason for that.

I’m more annoyed that I got a low win rate on day one, and then didn’t play for a while and let rank keep dropping. It went from around 40 to 765 and then I decided to try solo queue again but only play at prime time. I believe I went 6:1 (W:L) and moved up to around 650. I also raised my win rate by about 10% in those games. Since then, not even 24 hours later I am nearly back to the same rank. I was going to try to do 5 or so games every night at prime time, but I have a feeling I will just constantly get pushed back down to the same level. I am not exactly sure why that is. Maybe games played are also factored in some how? I guess if I get my win rate abnormally high, which shouldn’t be possible in a truly random match, it will drop slower and then I can progress at my own rate?

Another thing I find odd is that I had a higher win rate solo queuing in in team pvp than I do as a soloQ player. Logic says that I should have a higher win rate as a soloQ player because I never face premades in soloQ. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I am very impressed with the warrior play I’ve seen in solo q by nikkle, riippii and Z O N E and Ezra ( plus a few more I don’t remember). At the moment if they are played right in high end games they carry their weight. Could use a couple minor buffs though.

More like, if they are played exceptionally better than everyone else, they can sometimes appear good when they outplay people.

Problem is leaderboard actually means nothing, so reward would be … unfair

This is one of the main problems, pvp rewards really sux and people don’t care too much if they win or they lose.

Other big problem is conquest experience, because people is used to play in hot join where only thing that count is make glory points (who cares if you win or you lose in hot join) and they don’t learn anything about how to play conquest correctly (but why they need to understand how to play correctly when zerging or moving random in map is almost always rewarding?)

Conquest inexperience + No pvp rewards = tpvp sux (soloqueue and teamqueue)

Which is a good reason for the points system to reward good play.

Well, it is true we can solve the burst problem in many different ways (Defy Pain/Endure Pain).

Most of the builds can’t afford 30 in Defense for Defy Pain (Hammer does – but generally doesn’t take DP), and while Endure Pain is alright, most of the builds already have a decent amount of toughness and EP does nothing vs conditions. Yes, it will help with the spike damage problem a little bit, but what are you going to do for the 56 seconds it is down? My utility set up is generally X, Balanced Stance, Berserker Stance. X is generally switched based on what I feel I need at the time but I have been using Bull’s Charge a lot lately. It can double as extra cc or an escape if timed well.

Whether they can win or not is meaningless, and they can win against inexperienced players. The point is that whether they can win or not isn’t what matters, it is that at the end of the match they look at their scores and think they did a good job.

I can see that idea but, I guess, in my mind I never associated that “score” with how well a person did. Take bunkers, for example, how would one reward such? They hardly ever kill anything and just squat a point. Invaluable for their team but you can’t exactly discern them from an AFK from a rewarding perspective half of the time.

Exactly my point. You may not associate it with doing well, but they do. In reality, score should show you did well. Instead, people with the lower scores are many times the better players in a match. lol

The points for killing players while defending would help with the issue you brought up about bunkers, but the system should probably also award a few points here and there for sitting on a node.

If warrior was actually viable now, more top teams would be running them. Warrior isn’t as bad as it used to be, but it is still far from viable. There are a few builds that are alright, such as M/Sh GS, M/Sh H, M/Sh S/M(or A), and LB S/Sh. Really the first two excel more at 1v1 than anything else, and even then are at a disadvantage to many classes 1v1 builds. Healing Signet really isn’t that great imo. Sure, you end up with some decent regen, but you have no burst healing and are weak to spikes and poison. I and many others are still using surge for those reasons.

A zerg can’t win against a team that simply back-caps, they can move to-and-fro two points all day long and will never hold more than one of them.

That’s not to say that winning doesn’t need more encouragement/rewards.

Right now we see. People are not trying to win. A great bunch of B-curiose-pve-hotjoin-daily farmers invaded SoloQ – and what they actualy need here – same from hotjoin. 3 points capped,3 games played and etc.

They don’t need to win. They run there pve builds, they run the skills that “looks” cool and etc. So i begging revert daily to win not play 3 games.

It will drive people back to hotjoin or force them to play better.

The another issues. Most of the people doesn’t care about leaderboards because they don’t benefit anything – so like 90% of people don’t care about winning again. They just go and play any build they want(again from pve and stuff) and spoil the fun for guys who like to play compettive to have some fun.

This post is made out of my rage when i popped up 3 times with shatter shaman mesmer.

Not that I have anything against kill type game matches, but conquest isn’t it. Kills should be worth less (5), capping should be worth more (10 for neutralize, 30 for cap). Kills while defending a node should be worth more (15).

If ppl who have similair mmr q at the same time and get grped it just means matchmaking works.

How did u test? 2 people should work 80% of the time but thats not the issue yes?

Are you trying to troll? Stop trying to start an argument. Read the forums for a few minutes before posting or something. Your 10-1 doesn’t mean all that much by the way. If the system was truly working, you wouldn’t be much higher than 50% even at the top of the ladder.

Even at prime time I noticed some issues like this, but they didn’t seem to be as bad. I have decided for now I am only going to play at prime time to increase the chances of getting fair teams. Strategy seems to be working so far, got some half way decent players last night and did 6 wins 1 loss (with a lot of commanding effort on my part). They were never the same players either. I did notice a lot of the ones I played with seem to not be ranked at all though and some of the ones on the other team ranked between 450 and 850 (in one game I was the only ranked player and their team had 3). That is a pretty big spread considering it was prime time. I was about ready to just give up on solo queue, so hopefully playing at prime time makes it more fun.

I’ve had games were I was 1v2 for 2 minutes and in that time my team still couldn’t cap another point. I’ve had games where a guy just feeds kill points at far for the entire time, yelling about holding down 2, not understanding that it’s taking them less time to rotate and gib him than it is for him to respawn and run back (or that their home point guy doesn’t really count most of the time). I just had a game where I was holding 1v3 at gate when tranq came up and the other team still got it despite my team being told it was coming. In fact my last 4 teams have had at least 3 rank 10-19s. It happens. You’re still gonna end up with the rating you deserve, after enough games. You might be up a bit or down a bit at any given time, but you’ll get to where you belong.

I know the feeling. I had a game earlier where it took 3 members of the opposing team to take the skyhammer from me, and my team still couldn’t manage to hold 2 points. I literally held up two of their players for 3+ minutes then a third for another 30 seconds or so. Their team wasn’t even good, it is just that my team was THAT bad.

Look at this pic, a previous game I just played.

Notice all 5 of those players are in top 50 of leaderboards. I’m at 300, the people I played with are around me or worse. That’s entirely kittened up they have to be syncing or this matchmaking is so kitten stupid to put 5 top 50 players against people 300-700 on leaderboards. Keldorz rank 14, davinci got banned rank 11, only happy kid rank 35, uhiwi rank 36, dugen x rank 45.

You know why they got such outstanding win loss ratio? because they play teams 300 ratings below them, while they always have people super good rating with them as well.

SYNC or NO SYNC….ANET IS A FAIL in the matchmaking and fairness department.
STOP putting me against AN ENTIRE TEAM OF 1-50 on leaderboards while my team is 300+ in the ratings.

I agree on that, Matchmaking seems terrible.

the disadvantage of range is that it does significantly less damage than melee. that alone, makes ranged almost useless. maybe it differs for other classes but I know I almost never use ranged for 1v1.

Well, we already know what kind of thief you are Excalibur. You need to learn to use that Shortbow. When I played thief a lot I found it to be excellent AoE damage, ranged damage, awesome for kiting, and the best option for taking down mesmers. Keep thinking that SB is just for infiltrator’s arrow though. lol

You’re correct. The point is that the reverse is also correct. Just because someone occasionally lands in a stacked team doesn’t mean they’re syncing.

Well, they seem to be landing in stacked teams pretty frequently. It also seems like the top players get matched up vs people lower than them instead of mixing them up between two teams. Also, if the system was working correctly, the top players would have 55-60% win rates max for the most part.

The rank 4 or 5 dude on leaderboards is a DPSy guardian but with a soldier amu…

What is that supposed to mean? For one, the leaderboards are kind of worthless atm. For another, you can’t take an anomaly and act as if it is the standard. My friend got on the other day, won his first few games, got grouped with good players after a few wins and kept queuing and getting matched with mostly the same people and ended up with a number 9 position (dropped slightly since, he is currently 22 I believe). Point is, some people get lucky and rise to the top fast and then when they get in good a team, queue more and keep getting the same teams and winning more. I don’t think he is really a better warrior than I am, we have similar scores and tactics when we have played together in the past. Our builds are even pretty similar. I on the other hand, keep getting horrible teams and just gave up on it. Are you going to tell me a single warrior carried his teams to an 80% win rate? If you do I will laugh. This system is flawed and in no way represents class balance as a whole.

Personally, if I lose I keep queuing, which is probably half my problem since you keep ending up with the same crappy players.

Don’t worry, you are only the 50th person to try to claim this build. I used almost an exact copy of this build over a month ago. I also had a build that had a similar focus before mace was really worth using mainhand, which was A/M H (about 7-8 months ago). Anyway, this build and similar builds have been posted multiple times. It’s more of like a common sense build than anything that can be claimed. There aren’t any hard choices really. The traits are pretty much the same in every version and the utilities generally bounce around between the obvious choices. No offense intended, just saying.

It doesn’t really matter whether he was right or wrong about healing on a spirit ranger. They are part of the meta, where as warriors are not. If a spirit ranger comes in here complaining about this build it is pretty lame. He probably confused spirit ranger with BM regen builds.

Yeah, sorry. Spirit rangers make excellent mobile homepoints as part of the current meta, and BM regen builds can easily top 500 HP/s, as can many other builds and classes.

Did everyone already forget what Warriors were like before the healing buff?? You could just wear them down in a fight, and they could either stay and die, or turn and flee for their lives.

You COULD move some of the baseline healing into traited stuff, for the same overall result, but then again…. that’d only pidgeonholes warriors into those very traits because they need them to survive. You’ll see MORE gimmicky builds that way, not less.

The reason his healing seems OP is because he’s also controlling you (and you’re letting him) which means you’re not hitting him all the time.

I actually have no problem with you having improvements to your heals, Just as long as you have to invest in healing power like everyone else.

If you check out this thread, you’ll see we are pretty on par when you consider other sources of healing and mitigation. Warriors don’t have the luxury of easy access to reliable regen, evades and heals attached to our weapons, or protection. A lot of us made this class work over the last 11 months, and we got pretty decent with broken heals. Now that our heals have been buffed to the point that a player can’t just faceroll against a good warrior, people are getting hefty doses of skilled players at the helm of a competitive class.

Honestly, I was surprised to see you in here. Even after all these changes, Ranger still looks like a really tempting class to me. Great regen duration; preci and crit damage in the same tree; 150 precision 20 points deep in the power tree; really strong sustained ranged damage; good uptime on fury; stuns, dazes, and evades tacked onto some of your weapons… you guys have some tools that are pretty awesome. If it wasn’t for lemongrass, I dare say my ranger would make my warrior cry.

You’re not magically kicking butt because its all skill mate…You’re doing better now because the overbuffed your class

We also have evades on your weapons like you have Block on your shield, Because you have Heavy armor (and more HP) you get less Evades then us…

I mean did you look a the class list there, You have one of the best heals in the game now with no investment.

Signet healing is actually one of the worst heals in the game if you are facing any type of real burst or consistent poison condition. It’s only good for fights that last a long time (i.e. 1v1 situations against bunkers, such as the ranger BM bunker that you like to run).

Healing surge was brought in line with warrior HP pool and functions similar to other classes’ heals given their HP pools. Also, if you don’t have full adrenaline the heal is relatively mediocre, and we need to constantly be emptying our adrenaline to do damage as a class.

Warriors are not OP. There’s a reason why no one is rushing to integrate them into their tpvp teams. (versus, say, necros).

You realize this build typically has a lot of toughness and multi ways to avoid burst, and you can kitten near be completely immune to conditions, so Poison is not a problem.

and Adrenal a Mediocre Heal? Its heals better then Natural Healing which is a Grandmaster trait in the Ranger BM line….You get it for spending 15 points in a line and its free…Quit your kittening about your Heals being bad.

How pray tell are you immune to poison?

By running anti condition runes and food?

That tends to help..

Though I suppose you might be screwed if you ran across a Thief who just wanted to Choking Gas on top of you a lot.

Not that you couldn’t just remove it by Skull cracking him in the face though (since that’ll remove it)

What about SPVP? You can’t use food in SPVP.

You also aren’t even close to being immune in WvW either. Not since food was fixed.

I mean, in some cases you may be right, but a lot of higher up players have specifically mentioned they got syncing to work reliably.

Common sense to me. If I queue from outside, I should return outside when the match ends. It’s not just clicking the button either, you have to load the mists, then load back to the outside world, so it is twice as much loading.

You know theres a leave the mists button right.

Obviously. I shouldn’t have to click leave the mists after every match though. It should put me in the same place in the world I queued from, just like pretty much every other game that lets you queue from anywhere.

Probably depends on the rank of players you are fighting also. I don’t think anyone really knows how it works. lol

I agree. It is annoying. I was looking forward to being able to queue up from anywhere and not have to look at the mists all the time, but it just keeps throwing me back in the mists after matches.
