You can check the leaderboards if he is on your friend’s list or in the same guild as you. https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/achievements
i can’t remember that i ever got a message that friendXY went online oO
do you have to turn that on or something?I’m not sure what the chat channel is called (not near my game right now), but it’s the same chat channel that also lists the items you loot. I know I didn’t find it until I saw it on somebody else’s screenshot and went through all the chat channels to find it.
It’s called game messages.
It will tell you in chat whenever someone on your friend’s list logs in and out. It will also inform you about everything that goes into your inventory. Why they put the 2 features together is a question to ponder at a different time.
ANet has said that sending a ticket from the forum is the best way to report a guild with an offensive name. source

When I die during these events I wp out immediately EXCEPT during the times i start lagging so bad that I can’t waypoint or when real life intervenes and I get pulled away from the computer. I would not like the game to be punishing me then by taking silver out of my inventory or breaking my armor or reducing the rewards for the work I have done. Particularly as I think people are wrong about how dead people are scaling the events.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dynamic_event
“To keep a consistent level of difficulty along with increased participation, an event will scale dynamically based on the number of active participants.”
The key word here is active participants.
“Events can detect that players have not performed any actions relating to the event within a period of time and will scale down the event accordingly”.
please also add hooves and unicorn horns and exoskeletons and antennas and spider legs and ovapositors and hedgehog spikes and shark fins and dinosaur heads and a giant whale race and cat litter boxes
Ovipositors are sexual organs and i would have to report anyone displaying their sexual organs in the game. :P (and to think it was someone named Sleazebag trying to slip this in the game. Tsk tsk.)
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Right now the game requires reading to learn. This has several problems that I can see.
One is that not all people can read. There are large numbers of functionally illiterate people out there. However if they plunked down the money for the game then they are entitled to the same care and consideration as the fluent readers. Which means a method of teaching that isn’t reading base.
Intellectual incuriosity. A person can be intellectually incurious and yet still learn if the game teaches as you play, the same way thay people will learn that fire is hot without looking it up. Life taught them this without requiring them to research it.
Different brains are wired differently. Some people learn easily through reading while others require a hands on approach to learning. These people can be intellectually curious and look it up yet not have the information sink in until they do it themselves.
Many people “just want to play, not do research”. There is no reason that the game should fail to teach them. The designers should be well aware that this is a subset of their players.
Lack of understanding that there is even something to look up. Or not knowing where to look it up.
Truly, to learn how to play a game, at least the basic information should be taught in game. If there are people who get to level 80 and ask then what a combo field is, then the game is relying to much on outside research.
Did you seriously just say that READING shouldn’t be a requirement to play the game??? I’m all for tutorials to introduce game-specific mechanics like the importance of dodging, combo fields, and condition caps. But I do not want hand-holding and I definitely don’t want a game reduced to a picture book for those who can’t take the time to learn to read. Honestly, it’s a pretty important life skill. I’m all for freedom to live your life as you wish, but learning to read should come before hours on GW2. How can you play if you can’t read tooltips and trait descriptions? I really hope this post was in jest.
Also, the hands on approach is actually playing the game. What’s required is some sort of guidance. You need to be told that combo fields exist, and then it’s up to you to test them out, hand on.
Where did I say that reading shouldn’t be a requirement?
I was saying that different people have different capabilities and different ways of learning and that games should take these differences into account when designing a game and into consideration if they are going to make a tutorial.
In my opinion, buy a full game and play it to just get a set for skin armor when you will only use for the 10 levels until you wanted to switch to a better good looking armor is a waste.
my opinion, you can do wtv you want if you can afford the time and the money for a skin. I played Gw for like 7 years with all the expansions though.
Not everyone likes the same things. OP said he particularly like that one piece so it’s not likely he is going to change it a few days later.
After almost 2 years my ranger is still wearing a full set of HoM armor. I haven’t seen anything I like better on him. I used the HoM armor on all the rest of my characters, all the way up to level 80 when I decided a final look for them.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

It will take WAY more than 50 hours to get 30 points. iirc it took me and a friend approximately 6 months of steady playing to get the 30 points. You will need to level to 20. Beat all available missions (depending on how many campaigns you buy) in regular mode. Beat all available missions in Hard Mode. Then do stuff like PvP for keys, get money for armor and weapons or do the content to get them as rewards, completely explore maps, vanquish maps in Hard Mode, to give some examples.

You would need to purchase EOTN and at least one of the campaigns. And then you would need to play the game all over again until you get the Ranger pets you want. If you want all the ranger pets you will need the full 30 points as the black widow spider is at point 30.
I named my ele Fire and Nice
In Guild Wars 1 all the good Fire names, such as Cold Fire and Hot Fire, were taken. I ended up naming my ele Lukewarm Fire.
You claim something we don’t know anything about. Have you ever seen the gem pool running out? We don’t know how its implemented. Maybe it’s just an exponential function and the pool will never be empty, just more expensive.
We do know, the devs told us.

Not going to find the exact post, but if you read through his posts you’ll find it. It was over a year ago I think so I’d start with the earlier posts.
This is the only post I could find where he talks about gems and gold. It doesn’t really relate exactly to the question of how many gems in the pool. It does seem to imply there is a limited amount of each.
Who sets Gem prices? source
John Smith
“There seems to be some confusion:
The currency exchange has a supply of Gems and Gold.
If players are converting Gold to Gems, then the Amount of Gold player will receive for their gems goes up.
If players are converting Gems to Gold, then the amount of Gems players receive for Gold goes up.
The exchange rate changes based on the scarcity of each supply. You cannot inflate it, it’s an exchange rate. As players purchase in one direction, it entices purchases in the other direction.”

Nicholas the Traveler has a possible descendant in Fireheart Rise. There is a child NPC who is looking for 5 grawl necklaces to trade for a gift. It’s for a friend of his named Nicholas. He says that his friend’s scavenger hunts are a family tradition.
I have never heard of this 14-21 day automatic choosing of another Guild member as Leader design. In fact, I belong to a Guild where the Leader is offline for months at a time, and there has never been any change in any of the ranks or positions.
Can you link the official statements backing up your claims?
Don’t know about Guild Wars 2, but this DID happen to me in Guild Wars 1. I went back in to help some people in my guild get some HoM points and I was no longer the guild leader, but someone else was who hardly ever logged in and wasn’t in my current GW 2 guild. I was quite perplexed.
Yes, for Guild Wars 1 they do have an autopromotion policy
Automatic succession http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild
“If a guild leader has not logged in to the game for 60 days, they will be automatically demoted and replaced by the officer with earliest join date (according to the status window).”
However Gaile has specifically said that in Guild Wars 2 they do not have an autopromote feature if the guild leader is absent/banned and that they don’t currently have any plans to put one in.

Possibly you were hacked, although why they wouldn’t finish stripping the account is a question.
To get an answer as to what happened to your gold, you will need to make a ticket with support at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
I would recommend you do a security sweep of your computer and afterwards change your email password and your Guild Wars 2 password.
I have 2 level 20+ mules parked at a JP and I can tell you that this isn’t a good option. I’ve seen posts where people claim to get one or two silver doubloons a week doing this but my experience is one or two a month per toon.

Have y’all done a repair to fix possible corrupted files? Maybe it won’t do anything, but it’s worth a try.
You can grind the festival tokens by doing the 2 events per hour. Typically, if you get silver or gold each time you will get around 70 tokens an hour. If you do 2 events a day that will take you between 5 and 6 days. You have 8 more days to get the tokens.
If you stop downloading at any time and then restart later it will pick up from where it stopped. The bar at the bottom will look like it’s starting from the beginning, but it’s the beginning of the remainder of the download.
and in 6 months 1g is 1gem worth and anet gonna swim in Money because no one can buy the gem stuff with Gold anymore and pays real Money for new skins
longtime Mission completed anet
In case you didn’t know this, making a profit is what every business tries to do. In ANet’s case it’s the sale of gems. If players can get free stuff by using ingame Monopoly money (gold), well that’s cool but not necessarily what drives ANet as a business.
I’m beginning to think they should not have put the conversion of gold to gems in game. To many people now seem to think it’s some sort of inalienable right to get free stuff with ingame Monopoly money.

Must be new or scaling. I’ve killed it with one other person. It took a couple of minutes but not a real long time.
It’s probably the precision stats on it. The half eaten weapons which have precision on them are also high priced. I got one once, sold it for a gold then asked on the forum. iirc, the answer was that those stats work really well on upleveled chars in WvW.
What would be nice is if Guild Wars actually worked. Every time I tried to log in, it would tell me that my password is incorrect, and support was no help. I think it’s a lost cause by now.
If you don’t have the 2 accounts linked at this time, do so. Once linked the Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 logons are identical, same as the what you use to log into this forum.
Hmmmm. Even if it does have instructions to link an old key to a new account, that is not the same as link a new key to an old account. And they did tell you the old account would be disabled.
I’m not able to see that page but it might be the one to link the old Guild Wars 1 account to the new Guild Wars 2 account for Hall of Monuments rewards.
It will be available to that charcter when it gets to that level in cooking.
There are tickets ahead of you and the support personnel first clear those and then get to yours. Typically most people get a initial response from a human within 24 to 48 hours from the initial ticket time.
It wouldn’t hurt to make sure that you are receiving their emails. You can read this thread here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Not-Getting-Our-E-mails-Hotmail-Yahoo-Gmail-Comcast to check for possible problems.
I wonder what would happen if you entered incorrect information. Would it lose the old card info and keep the new (wrong) info? Or maybe just lose the old info.
There have been a number of threads where a guild leader was banned or stopped logging in and people were asking if there was a way around this. The answer was no.

So, if the only guild leader steps down, the game will appoint another person. If the only guild leader is banned or stops logging on, then that guild is out of luck.

No, she gave me the real one cuz she likes me better. You got the cheap knockoff that she got from the Norn Dollar store. If it was the real one it would have stayed in your inventory. So there. :P
They can’t give refunds from a forum request. You have to make a ticket at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
There are 3 main reasons someone doesn’t get the chest after killing a boss. One is you killed that boss within the period from reset to reset on the same character. You have to kill him on a different character to get the chest. The other is, you have a character that you left at that place that you use to kill him every day. Diminishing Returns (DR) will kick in after a few days. To get rid of DR you need to take that character to another map and play there for a while. The third reason is of course a bug.
I don’t understand what OP is saying.
I have permanent separate tabs for party, whisper, map, guild and say (labelled p, w, m, g and s). I may have to make a target channel at the bottom match the tab option at the top at start of a session but once that’s set it doesn’t change. When I’m on one and want to switch to another I just click on the tab marker at the top of the chat. When I type on that target channel it goes to that chat. I never have to type /map or /say, for example, to talk on that chat.
Would a profession changer be possible?
It’s possible, but rare, to be banned for lending gold. Support can make mistakes. If they make a mistake of this type then that person will need to contact them to have the situation reviewed and the ban reversed.
I was banned for “gold selling” after 3 of us loaned gold to each other to get the Golden title. I had to contact support to get reinstated.
If you contact support you get an auto response email back in short while. If he never even got that then have him check this thread about not getting emails. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Not-Getting-Our-E-mails-Hotmail-Yahoo-Gmail-Comcast
Sometimes browsers store passwords. He might check there.
You won’t be able to log in the forum or the game.
I’m actually not sure when the 72 hour timer starts. I suspect it starts the first time you try to log in. I’ve seen too many posts where someone says they tried to log in and got a 72 hour suspension. It’s never any other lesser time, like 20 hours or 30 minutes, which they could get if they don’t log in frequently. Since they want you to know you’re being punished and some people may not log in for several days, then it would make sense for the timer to start with an attempted log in, but I’m just guessing here.
Just because someone gets reported, doesn’t mean they will get suspended. There is a line that needs to be crossed. It’s always possible that one comment won’t cross that line, but it depends on what you said.
Since the forum is tied to it maybe logging into the forum will trigger it. You could always log into the forum a few times a day and see if you get a suspension notice.
Since Gaile is busy, it’s unlikely she will tell you that you are suspended as you can find that out by logging in.
Don’t make a ticket. If you aren’t suspended but in consideration then they can’t tell you and if you are then it may still be something that starts with the next login.
But everyone already has a mount. Shanks Mare. Comes with each new character and has the profession specific speed boost.
If they add ears and tails, will whiskers be far behind?
No one knows.
Since it was a Wintersday hat, if they do bring it back then that’s the likely time.
The gem store banker is a single account bound item item. You get one and if you wish to use it on a different character then you will need to get it from the bank. The digital deluxe golem is soulbound and each new character will get one.
If it was an account bound item and and each new character got one that would be easily abused to make and delete new characters to get multiples of them.
The suspension length for a first offense is 72 hours. The first you will know of it is when you attempt to log into the game or forum and get a notification.
As to when it happens, that’s variable. It depends on how busy support is but is very likely to be 1 or 2 days after the report was sent off. If they are very busy it could be longer.
During the time your account is suspended, all your trading post orders that were in process still continue. Nothing about that is changed. So you may put up any buy or sell orders that you want and pick up the results after the suspension is over.
Each succeeding suspension is longer but I don’t recall ever seeing by how much.
Either you don’t know what the word fluctuate means or you meant another word. Obviously it does fluctuate. If it didn’t it would be a perfectly straight line.
At one time? Probably less than the 460k reported in August 2013, which was the only concurrency numbers told.
You can have every crafting on one character if you want. You would have to pay to switch is all and the gem store item allows you to have 3 active ones instead of 2.
So, your jewelry crafting is still there. No change.
That % chance was for the Jade weapon tickets, not the Starcake recipe.
So it seems that the recipe hasn’t come back this time around.
Ah well.

I get bothered a bit when I see copyrighted or celebrity names being used. Changing a single character to special character shouldn’t be done. Wish players would try to be a bit more mindful of immersion too. Luckily most are good with naming.
These are actually against the rules and can (and should) be reported.
I saw one character named after a very famous person, just one letter different. I reported it and was told it wasn’t against TOS.
Okay! I’m rereading everything and this is starting to make sense. I am also finding I am just more and more thankful for all the quality of life stuff I have in GW2.
Quick question: is there an armory or something for GW1? Cause I saw this amazing person in one of the cities and I want to know where they got those black wings. Also… I want those black wings in GW2. o_o
