Actually, I (and I assume a lot of other people) think the sprockets should be removed because it’s the first (and thank god only so far) instance of vertical progression in the gem store.
It really doesn’t mater if the <Insert Random Item> generated by <Insert Random Tool Name> is worth 4c 4s or 4g. As long as there is a definite better tool we have vertical progression and that is a pandora’s box i’d like to see shut rather sooner than later.
The main issues with the Pick:
- Vertical Progression in the Gem Store: The new Pick is flat out better than any of the old Picks. This means vertical progression in the Gem Store is something ANet is fine with and we might see other items replaced by better versions.
- Trust in your purchase: People who bought any of the previous Pickaxes may feel cheated and might be more reluctant to buy any further “infinite” items, lowering future revenue and thus harming ANet and by extension all of the players.
- Extreme lack of communication: Despite over one thousand responses in multiple threads in the “Guild Wars 2 Discussion” and “Black Lion Trading Co” subforums, there is still no official response from ANet for over four months. Even threads specifically asking for a response (this one) get completely ignored.
edit:
Because this entire thread over a period of four months has been one long complaint about how unfair this item is because of all the extra money it generates.
Those people are really few or trolling. You are basically “cherry” picking here, hence my question why you are so fixated on the money aspect.
So, are you telling me that the complaints are not based on the value that the sprockets have? If the sprockets were valueless, worth nothing at all, there would still be the same number of complaints?
Why are you so fixated on the money aspect?
The infinite tools never were designed to pay for themselves, you buy them for the convenience.
Even if you would constantly use them by the time you would break even, the next generation of tools will be out.
Because this entire thread over a period of four months has been one long complaint about how unfair this item is because of all the extra money it generates.
Numerous complaints. Numerous wishes that it be nerfed and numerous posts where they specifically said they were bumping the thread to keep the issue of its unfairness on the front page of the forum.
Well, I have one now. It pays for the waypoints and a little extra as long as I make the effort to get the nodes and do farming.
Paid for waypoints. That’s pretty much what this pick boils down to. After it pays for itself first after 4 months to a year, depending on how often you go out farming
It’s not bad at all. I took it out, did some mining in Brisbane and then some area completion. Got about an extra1.5 gold.
ZOMG!!!!111 Thats game breaking and needs to be nerfed!!!! Its pay to win!!! QQ QQ QQ Whine whine cry sniffle boo hoo!!!!
[/sarcasm]
I’ll bank that gold and in 5 or 6 months (or 7 or 8, but who’s counting) I’ll break even from buying that pick. After that, that extra gold or two a day will be used to dominate the trading post. I’ll use it to drive out all you lesser beings and take over the whole land of Tyria.
Bwahahahahahahah.
(Ow, evil laughs hurt my throat)
SEE!? SEE!? What have you done ANet!? You’ve created the most OP player bent on turning the TP into his personal play ground!! Please!! Have mercy!!!
That much gold was earned over a 2 hour period. If you do the math (pulls out calculator and pushes buttons while frowning thoughtfully) that works out to 1.25 silver a minute or 75 silver in an hour, where the time was spent doing extensive farming. (Just a warning to all, if you aren’t actively, extensively farming, this amount of gold is not flowing into your pockets). Now I know you puny TP barons out there cannot wrap your minds around such wealth, such income, but let me tell you, it pays for the waypoints! That’s is, it will after it pays for itself in a few months.
World domination. Who knew it would be so easy.

If so it will come to you in your email requesting an ok. You just follow the instructions on the email at that point.

I would like to see a “beats” races where you just have all the minor human like beats become playable. They can all have the same PS and racial effects because they all come from the same city and have all been effect by the same magic. Kind of like an undead races that can be any races but because they are all undead they have the same effects but different looks. So you would see Hylek, Centaur, Grawl, Ogre, Skritt, and Quaggan. Maybe Harpy and Krait but that odd these would be living with them and i am not so sure about centaur too.
I must be very tired. I have no idea what you are saying. A beats race? Beets? Like the vegetable. O.o
Can you say this again, but in English?

And how come the word silverfang is offensive but silverclaw is perfeclty fine?.
I have no idea why silverfang is a problem, but I do know the name filter looks for certain letter combinations. For example, Owlsdottir is disallowed because it has the letters LSD in the name (Ow LSD ottir). Possibly there is some letter combination in silverfang that is setting it off. Smart, the filter ain’t.
Yes, the search sucks. BUT even from the forum home page, simply typing “mount” into the search box would have returned his answer…. (lots, and lots of results)
I tried that just now. Got 3 results, all dated June 25th. None of them mount threads, they just happened to have that word on a post.
Thanks for keeping this thread alive guys. I would never have considered buying this item if it hadn’t been for the many posters emphasizing how useful it is.
The only way to get it back is an account rollback. If you do that you will get the laurels, karma, mats, armor and anything else they took. A rollback is only once per account though.
It’s my understanding that Support lacks the ability to get back laurels as a separate item rather than it being a policy.
You can update your ticket to request this if you still have it, or make a new one at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
You need 50 Keys to get 1 ticket (scrap = 20% dropchance)
50 * 30 mins = 25hours ~60g for a 1ticket itemI can get way more than 60g in 25hours playtime
Another way to think about it is, how much would it cost in gold to buy the items you get.
You get one booster for each run, ~ 125 gems. These are now convertible to get what you can use.
Then two items, generally a T-charge (30 gems), a merchant express (35 gems), repair canister (70 gems) or a bank access (35 gems). Assuming equal chance for these, ~ 210 gems worth per run. This doesn’t factor in the higher gem priced drops such as black lion salvage kits (300 gems), revive orbs (250 gems) or dye packs (200 gems), each of which may drop once or twice in the 50 runs or the more rare items such as the gem store backpacks, mini pets or full tickets.
Gems are at the moment 12.29 gold to buy 100 gems so 210 gems are worth 25.8 gold. 50 times 25.8 is 1290 gold. Plus the 60 gold for the ticket is 1350 gold.
This of course assumes you would spend gold to buy these items, but it does mean that key running can be worth more than 60 gold in 25 hours to some people.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
It’s back hmmm. This might be one that’s worth buying.
You contact support at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new to request an Account Restoration, a rollback to a time before the hack.
Rollbacks are only one per account so if you ever get hacked again you will lose everything. Make sure your computer is secure first. Run a security sweep if you haven’t already done so. Change the password to your email in case they got into that.
You will lose any progress between now and the rollback so if you decide to go that route there is no point in playing until then.

Are you on the same server as your guild? The guild NPCs need to have a guild armor contract upgrade and these upgrades are specific to the server. So if your server is based on a different server than you are, you won’t be able to access these NPCs.
Maybe it’s successfully linked now? Did you try logging in to Guild Wars 1 or speaking to Kimmes in the Guild Wars 2 HoM? If it’s already linked, the login for Guild Wars 1 will now be identical to the Guild Wars 2 login, email and password (and character name of course for Guild Wars 1).

You should google, girlfriend deletes WoW characters or wife deletes WoW account, to see what people will do to their loved ones.
I try to do one a day. I’m not one of the fast people so about 30 minutes. Now that the boosters are convertible, they’re actually useful. And it’s nice to have some bank accesses, merchants, etc as well as the chance to get gem store stuff like backpacks, minipets as well as tickets.
It’s not a big money maker but you get stuff. I pay $20 USD a month on gems to buy items where u get what you pay for. I just don’t like to buy RNG items with real money, especially when I read posts where someone opens 30 chests and only gets one scrap. As a key runner I can ignore long stretches of bad RNG. It’s a lot harder when it’s bad RNG and real money.

Yeah, its against TOS.
Husbands and wives have been known to get mad at one another and trash their spouse’s accounts. Or use up all the gold buying stuff. Or get a divorce and then fight over possessions, including game accounts.
This sort of thing happens on a frequent enough basis over several million accounts that it’s a headache separating who did what and who owns what. There isn’t any way for support to tell the difference between the owner deleting characters and a spouse doing it and if they are fighting over ownership and both can provide details, it’s hard to separate that too. So, they made a ruling, no sharing of accounts.
I don’t care if they have a swimming animation or not, I don’t want them disappearing when I go into the water. I use them pretty constantly because they are cute and as a way to tell if I’m lagging. Neither of these reasons are helped by them disappearing.

Reporting Inappropriate Guild Names/Tags

They recommend making a ticket from the forum (https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new) and reporting them.
Michael Henninger: source
Game Support Lead
“We know it’s not ideal; but sending us a ticket is the absolute best way to get us a bad guild name.”
Probably because reporting as name makes them spend time researching the name and because they won’t necessarily think of looking at guild name, pet name or account name, which are other things that are best reported with a ticket.
I’m getting never ending cycling of edits (and since I’m super picky about spelling and grammar, combined with being a bad speller, there are always edits). (Sigh).
It seems to be random. One person advised clearing cookies. That worked briefly but then it started up again.
If I can’t post, I’ve found I can copy the post before send then repeatedly paste and post. Eventually it will go through.
Wiki still says it’s 1.98 silver.
At 1.99 silver there is 4 thousand 559 supply. (The forum filter strikes again. A four followed by 55 is a naughty word that will burn your virgin eyes).
http://www.gw2tp.com/item/24518-crest-of-the-magi At 0.19 copper it’s 4564 then 4565 supply then back up to 1.99 silver and 4566 supply.
I’m inclined to think its a glitch of some sort.
I am a new player. I have a level 80 Engineer and a level 50 thief. When I hit 80 I was only able to obtain 3 epic armor pieces of a 6 piece set.
I do not plan on doing Karma mission on more than one character because it’s no fun. So I’m not sure how I’m going to come up with another 120,000 Karma to finish off my set.
This is not balanced… especially because other players were able to hord 2+ million while NEW players will never seen more than one epic Karma set. That is if they can stomach the grind.
I’m not a game Dev. but I can tell you right now that Karma does not feel balanced. Completing a heart quest rewards me 300-400 Karma.
This mean I have to do 300 more heart quests… I’m pretty sure there aren’t that many left on my level 80’s map. Unless Anet wants to force players to grind WvW / PvP to get this set… but what does that mean for the players who are not interested in WvW / PvP.
They should just give players the ability to buy skill point of tombs of knowledge for a high Karma cost… or something that players can actually use.
You don’t do heart quests to get karma, you do events. Are you doing the big Meta events daily? http://howar31.github.io/GW2Timer/ A round or 2 of the champ train in Frostgorge to get a quick 5 or 6 events? Events that you run into? How about heading to Orr, there is often now people doing events. Look for a tag to find a quick group then party up with others to find more when the zerg splits up.
I got my karma down to less than 60k and back up to over a million in a short time just from playing PvE. If you do events you gain karma fast.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
The forum is bugged today. I read they know about it, the bug comes and goes.
As to the problem with nodes, I suspect you are having a problem where you are 2 places at once, probably because of lag. You see yourself at one spot and the game thinks you are at another. If you have a minipet out it will be at a fixed distance from you and won’t get closer. It will move off if you move towards it. Where the mini is, is where the game thinks you are. If this is the problem, you can either wait till the game catches up to where you are or log out to character select and back in.
It’s happening again.
Since it may be awhile before they make them stack, do you have another character or character slot that you don’t use? You could store the boxes in its inventory.
Account hacked? No email authentication.

I’m guessing his associate email has been hacked and that was used to compromise his GW2 account. If an email comes in from a valid account to Support, they will change the GW2 password, no questions asked (unless a policy change has been made recently.
Once a hacker gains control of the account any number of things can be done to hinder the original user from regaining control of the account. First, SECURE the email account (that being compromised has many more potential problems than a lost GW2 account).
He apparently is getting emails from support as he is discussing the situation with them, he isn’t getting the authorization emails. Would a hacked email do that?
Again, they existed long before megaservers… I just didn’t have to ever read their disgustingly poor character name.
Turn player names off. In the real world, people don’t walk around with nametags above their heads. You have to engage them in conversation, and then ask their name. I always turn off player names in any MMO.
And if people in real life did have their name displayed all the time you’d quickly realise that ridiculous names are not restricted to fictional characters.
My old job involved teaching groups of school children, typically around the age of 11 or 12 and some of the names they were stuck with were…kind of incredible. Like a girl whose first name is Princess Angel. In real life. Her friends called her Marie and I got the impression she was counting down the days until she could change it.
I encountered one child whose name I can’t even put on the forum. Let’s just say it was a phonetic spelling of a female sexual body part.

“After you have done that, if you still are not receiving authentication e-mails, the only workaround that we can offer at the present time is to disable the e-mail authenticator. Please let us know if this is something you would want us to proceed with and we will forward instructions about disabling the authenticator.”
Then when he contacted them again to disable the email authenticator he was told
“After researching the provided information, we will not be able to assist you with accessing this account.”
If it was me I would resend the email with a second request for instructions to disable the authenticator. Make it very specific that that’s all you are asking for at this time.

From a long time ago but still relevant:
http://www.usgamer.net/articles/colin-johanson-talks-dungeons-dragons-and-chairs
“So, what’s the deal with chairs?”
A brief, surprised laugh. “You know, I honestly have no idea. One of the great challenges that we faced with chairs, and this is kind of ironic, is that because we put in five different races of differing heights into the game, we found we had to make every chair uniform and have everyone always sit on them the exact same way or build an entire system that recognizes the height of the chair and appropriately animates your character.”
Johanson adds dolefully, “We kind of forced ourselves into a corner where we either go back and re-art every chair in the game, or we build this system for sitting. I think in the grand scheme of things, given all the other projects, we have going on, sitting, as important as it is, is not something we’re currently working on.”
Your best bet is an item from the gem store, a chair with a sit animation tied to it.
I’m on HoD and I’m a PvEer. So far I’ve done it on 2 chars and starting on a 3rd.
I just wait till I see some areas I don’t have that are our colors, run in, grab them and leave. If I just get a couple of places I count it as a good days work. ^^
From what I can tell, HoD is either really strong against their opponents or really weak. If it’s the weak period, I just wait a week and see what the next matchup looks like.
ALL classes given the ability to resurrect fallen players in order to promote Team Work.
Fallen
Not defeated players.Fallen
Dead
Downed
DefeatedIt doesn’t matter, the system is intended for players to help each other not force each other to use a waypoint when another player can rezz them.
You are still trying to justify Elitist mentalities.
We aren’t saying that people should ignore the downed players. They don’t take very long to get back up. We’re saying the players who have died and can no longer do anything beyond chat, post to the TP, deal with inventory, and map travel via waypoints need to be dealt with in order to encourage players to start doing it on their own to keep DPS high.
And it wouldn’t matter as much if the World Bosses didn’t have these wonderful things known as timers on them. If you don’t kill them before the timer is up you fail the event. Even if the boss has 1 HP left when the timer hits 0. Therefore the higher the DPS you have the more likely you are to succeed. This is even more critical in the mega-bosses like Teq and three headed wurm.
Dead players have 0 DPS. Downed players can still contribute a little bit to the DPS.
Dead players, especially maxed level characters, take ages to resurrect, especially if those resurrecting them are still considered in combat. And I’ve never done Teq or THW, but I can’t imagine it’s very easy to get out of combat.
wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Revival
Reviving an ally pushes you to the top of the aggro table; canceling it returns you to the previous threat level.
When you combine the time it takes to revive someone dead with being at the top of the aggro table, reviving someone during an event is very likely to get you killed. Making 2 dead players instead of one.
Do you have Eye of the North? That’s a requirement.
If you do, log into Guild Wars 1. Go to the Hall of the Monuments and speak to Kimmes. Cycle through his option of “Show me my account’s accomplishments” and “Show me my personal accomplishments” a couple of times. Log out of Guild Wars 1. Log into Guild Wars 2. Go to the Hall of Monuments in Guild Wars 2 and speak to Kimmes again. He should then have any available rewards.
If you’ve just started, you may first have to reach the appropriate level/quest to get there.

Tamini wearing swimwear. Is that something similar to this perhaps?
I’d like Everyday Life with Monster Girls but that comic is SOOOOOOOOO not worksafe. (I mean nothing hardcore but… yeah.)
But it does show centaur swimwear. And Ceanora is much easier on the eyes than any GW2 centaur.
Yah, OP probably means something more along this line.
There is that new Tengu mini, Tsuru Whitewing. Maybe he will be an important NPC in the next storyline and bring the Tengu into the story, opening the way for them to be the next race.
sigh, i knew this day would come, the day that i need to do the seasamstreet level of explanation.
player 1: i buy gems with real money
player 2: i buy gems with in-game gold
player 1 pays 10 dollars to Anet, Anet has profit
player 2 pays with gold, Anet gains no money -> no profit
player 1 exchanges the gems with gold -> fills the gem bank -> Anet has no profit
player 2 buys an item in the store -> Anet still gains no money -> no profitthat’s how things really work, there is nothing extra payed nor do gold exchangers make profit.
the only way Anet has any profit is from players who pay with real money like player 1 does, gold exchange only uses the gems that are already bought thus not giving any money just like player 2 did.so for the third time, no money->no profit
player one buys gold with $ from another player
this is the key step you are missing,
the system only works because another player is willing to give up his time to the other player.
player one has no desire for the other products anet has at that point.basically in order for player 2 to get gem store item X player one has to buy it for him. In buying it for him, player one actually spends more money on that item than if player two had bought it himself.
The problem is you are thinking anet is selling player one gold, that is not really true, anet is allowing player one to sell his gold to player two, at a cost. If anet did not use this type of system, the economy would probably fail and have to be extremely different. Creating money out of nothing devalues your money, and makes it impossible to actually manage the money flow. Money has to be created through gameplay/time and balanced/accounted for.
with the gem system, anet is not printing money, they are basically allowing players to barter for goods with real money and time played.
take a look at wildstar system, its packaged in a lump sum, but it basically works the same.
player one buys monthly membership tokens for real dollars, he sells it to player two for gold.
player two is not really playing for free, he actually was paid for by player one, carbine is still getting 15 dollars a month for every single player who plays. in fact they are getting more money, because credds cost 20 bucks, and there is a tax on the exchange, which amount basically means for the same amount of gold as he wants, player one has to pay more, and for the month that player two wants to get, he has to play more.tldr, anet is getting paid for every single item sold in the gem store, aside from the gems they give away for fixed amounts of work/compensation/promotions etc.
The gem trade just allows anet to monetize people who would not normally buy their products, and get more money from people who would spend more money for more value in game without totally devaluing the product that they are selling
uhmm….you’re seeing a step that doesn’t exist, you only want to see that step.
player 1 doesn’t buy gems for player 2, player 1 buys gems only for him/her self.to make it even easier to understand the system, the moment player 1 pays for the gems, no other profit is made.
what happens with the gems is no concern of Anet, they just want your money in trade of gems.
all the gems sold with real money are there anyway and they can just make gems at any time, the gems that are used to buy gold are just thrown in a bucked and anyone can buy gems with gold.
ill even make a whole diagram if i have to, explaining it trough text is clearly not good enough.
Your missing one point, reason for buying gems.
Situation one. A game where you can’t buy gems to sell for gold.
Player one doesn’t want anything from the gemstore. He does want more gold though. However he can’t sell the gems to get gold so that month he doesn’t buy gems. The game earns no money.
Situation two. Guild Wars 2 where you can buy gems to sell for gold.
Player one doesn’t want anything from the gemstore. He does want more gold though. He buys X amount of gems with real money and sells the gems to player two for gold. The game earns money.
What I’m trying to say here is yes, ANet only gets money for gems that player one buys. But there would be no gems to put in the pot for player 2 to buy without that motivation. Without it, “all the gems sold with real money are there anyway and they can just make gems at any time” this step is absent.

If you log out or DC before an event ends then you won’t get rewarded for it. If you log out after the event ends, when you log back in any rewards that shows up on your UI will appear.
The only exception may be if you are lagging badly and DC when the event ends but before it registers on your computer. This happened to me once at the Karka Queen. I lagged, the event ended and then I DC’d. No reward when I came back.
I would also suggest you used BLSK if available. It might have been RNG but I noticed a difference when I switched from mystic salvage kris to BLSK.
I’ve gotten 2 so far from Black Lion Chests and found to my displeasure that they don’t stack. I’ll probably just delete them.
I’ll tell my guild leader who named his charcter Ha Ha Haha Ha that you disapprove. I’m sure he’ll care, along with all the other people who make non actual names.
You don’t need to troll or be negative. I was sharing a pet peeve. This is where we discuss Guild Wars 2, not where we smart off to other players because we disagree with them.
Imo starting a thread where you inform large numbers of people that the character names they chose should be against TOS and are a pet peeve of your is a negative post.
Wiki says, " From the Grawl City Guards, proceed north into the extremely short tunnel until you reach the ice wall."
Have you deleted any characters? If so, it’s possible they were on them. In that case you won’t be getting those items back unless they return to the gem store.
