Well, The Gift of Blades is not a weapon not does it go toward making a weapon. That’s why weaponsmith can’t craft it. It goes toward a backpiece, which is like a piece of armor, you wear it. Which is why the armor crafting professions make it.

If you reroll now you will have to get all your traits by the new system. I strongly recommend you read up on that first.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trait_guide
iirc, one argument against it, is that speculators smooth out prices. They buy up excess supply that people don’t want right then (and when supply decreases in this way the prices go up) and hold on to it until it’s scarcer. Then they release the stock they have, which increases supply and decreases prices.
If there was bind on purchase, this couldn’t happen. Supply would remain high and prices low until there is increased demand then supply would decrease and prices would increase.
“They” need to do something, like making each LS update larger because the FAR FROM CASUAL players have nothing more to do once done, as it is EVERYTHING can be done and finished with in 3 to 5 hours leaving us with nothing to do until the next TINY LS update.
Makes me glad I’m a casual player then. I haven’t finished this Living Story update yet. I guess I chew my content more before swallowing. ^^
I remember the debate about whether new zones would invalidate the gemstore tools. Hopefully the debate is now answered.
I bought my first gathering tool with the recent pick, and I’ve been very pleased with it. I thought it would be much more annoying to switch between alts and have found out it’s not that much trouble to bank at the end of the day then pick up with whatever char I chose the next day. Pleased enough that I’m planning to buy an axe and sickle when they next come out.
Things I don’t miss. Running out in the middle of a session, requiring a trip to the nearest place to get one. Having multiple types in inventory. Forgetting that I have a lower level tool equipped and harvesting a node, getting a ruined harvest.
Yes they’re expensive, but imo it’s well worth the cost in convenience.

I suppose you could always buy a gem card from a store and gift it to them, or send them gold ingame for them to buy the gems themselves.
Maybe you should post in the PvP forum about this instead of the Discussion forum. If the game is flagging you but not warning you about the flag then make a suggestion there that it do so. For example, when you get the flag a warning in yellow could appear in the chat window. Something like, “Your account has received one Dishonorable mark for leaving a match before it ends. Three active marks will cause a 72 hour PvP ban.”
For science! Just brutally murdered 100 lvl 80 moas in frostgorge over 20 minutes. Results:

11 junk sharp talonsHonestly expected more meat. Raptors may indeed be better.
Thank you for the research I never have the patience to document this kind of stuff, but 100 is still a relatively small sample size. I’m also unsure of the effect of magic find on food item drops.
yeah, I knew that 100 is not tons, but it’s a start. I was rather shocked that I got almost as many t6 claws as meat. I wanted to try to be sure to avoid DR from nuking the same 20 critters in a loop. For the record, my MF was 249%.
Poultry meat is a level zero cooking mat. If magic find increases the chance of a “good” drop, maybe it decreases the chance for a drop such as this in favor of the greens, T5, T6, or even eggs, which is a level 25 cooking mat.
I hope you are patient OP. You might look at the number of threads that get an actual Dev reply (and not one that is a Moderator) and calculate how long you will be waiting for that.
Good luck.
Do they even have a dungeon team anymore? I thought I read it was disbanded.
You’re going to need to back that up with a quote or a link since they’ve pumped out significantly more dungeons in the last 2 years than a game like WoW.
That was a question, not a statement. I thought I read it somewhere which is why I was asking.
Do they even have a dungeon team anymore? I thought I read it was disbanded.
And OP got to level 40 in one day?!?!?!
Slow down boy! Chew your content before you swallow it.
Post your ticket number on your thread. Gaile usually asks for them on threads related to problems of this type. She typically posts on the forum when it’s afternoon her time.
When you see a crowd of people and think its a zerg at a meta event.
When you see your neighbor’s garden patch and go harvest everything, as all nodes are shared.
When you complain about cars and bikes because mounts are against lore.
When you try to pay for items in a shop with gold earned by playing inside there.
Well, they are an elemental and all elementals drop jewels. There are a lot of them, but there are other zones that have areas with a high density of elementals too.
Hmmm. Idk, I haven’t read about this and no one has commented on any thread about it either. I would think it would be a big deal if the armors were removed.
Really? Where did you read that?
I read the WoW forums sometimes for amusement and to compare the things they complain about with what this forum complains about. I’ve read complaints about dead servers and and dead guilds. Posts by people who are on their nth guild because all the others have died. People who’ve switched to a busy server only to have it die also. I see posts by people who no longer have any of their friends logging on. I see complaints in that forum that the game is dying.
People come and go in both this game and that. They buy the game, play for a while then lose interest. There is a constant turnover of people. I don’t think you can really base how well a game is doing based on personal observation of your guild or lists because of the churn. It would really need to be based on numbers we don’t have, which is the concurrency as well as the numbers sold.
For something like that you might want to post in this thread here.
They might be European. I’ve seen a lot of trolls in this game and trolls are a European species.

That’s a pitiful amount of poultry meat and may be one of the reasons why supply isn’t higher. I bet most people think first of moas when they want to farm poultry meat. It’s what people encounter in the starter areas and since it’s such a low level crafting mat, it’s what they continue to think of as the source. I wonder if starter area moas have a smaller drop table and better rate of poultry meat drops.
I think I’ll give raptors a try also tomorrow if I have time, to see what the drop rate looks like.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
You get a set of starter colors. After that, you have to buy them, craft them from the cooking profession or get them from the Mystic Forge as they no longer drop from regular gameplay. The trading post will be your cheapest source of most dyes.

Extra fun fact: the population of WvW who plays any given week regularly is larger than the entire population of all of Gw1 the game any given week for a large chunk of the games lifespan. Just want to put things in perspective, Gw1 was amazing, but there is a reason we made Gw2.
That is some information. But it’s soft numbers from 10 months ago about a game that is 22 months old. So it’s from back when the game was half as old and tells nothing about the current state of popularity.
Not that I don’t think the game is popular, just that we don’t have current numbers to say.
Well we do have financial statements where GW1 doesn’t even break out of the “Other Games” category which is a fraction of GW2’s revenue. That’s a pretty good indicator right there.
And GW2’s revenues are consistent with what they were 10 months ago.
Yah, or it’s a good indication that their gem store is bringing in a fair amount of money which is not exactly the same as popularity, population or high concurrency.
I think the best indication we will get is when they release the revenue numbers from the period around China release. Personally I would love for them to be more transparent and release sales of the game to date as well as concurrency, but it would seem that for business reasons they won’t. Which is one of the things that fuels the “game is dying” people.
I guess the change was no bonus for these 2 weeks.
I was kind of hoping to get the Enchanted powders back myself. I have a bunch of boosters I want to convert to free up inventory space.

The answer to your question is yes, no, I think so, I don’t think so, maybe.
Since ANet hasn’t released any hard numbers about how many account were bought in a long time or concurrency (the numbers on at any one time) any answer you get is going to be based on speculation, personal feelings about the game and personal observations.

No doubt there is a way around it, it’s the time, money and effort that it would take placed against the other projects they are working on. They would either have to pull people away from other projects or put this one project on a to do list. If on a to do list, then it becomes a matter of how important it is.
and that part is debatable, but in my opinion it would be worth it
Yah, I would love it also. Since with costumes you can mask what armor class you are in, there is no longer the argument against it based on that. And since it’s a game based on cosmetics, it actually, imo, would be a project worth working on, if feasible.
What I mean to say is, that there are already identical skins on each armor class, such as the gem store animal hats. so what they could do is rework the wardrobe system so when you skin over your armor with say, a light piece, it would just use a medium replica of that, that has a boolean that would make it only usable if all the other armor pieces are also light based skins.
as I said, it would take work, but it isn’t something that’s impossible to do, or would take a year and reworking the entire equipment system from scratch
now, I’m not a genius when it comes to coding, but it seems like it’d take 3 variables for each armor class (that are probably already in the code) and every time you try to skin over a piece of armor, it calls that variable up and if it matches all the other pieces, it allows it. The hardest part would probably be making replicas of every skin for each armor class, and I don’t have the code so I don’t know what it’s like, but it could be as simple as copy-pasting.
It’s hard to find a specific quote where they say why they can’t do this. The best ones I can find also talk about costumes, which muddies the waters.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/21k4j8/curtis_johnson_on_the_town_clothes_issue/
“When we started looking at bringing more of the clothing back into armor with mix and match styles there are some fundamental incompatible things between weight classes. (part of how we set up every armor to allow many dye channels and styles per piece).. There really is no way at this point over six years since we started development to make absolutely everything work together. So we needed something new to continue to grow in the future.”
What he seems to be saying here would argue against an easy fix of the situation.
No doubt there is a way around it, it’s the time, money and effort that it would take placed against the other projects they are working on. They would either have to pull people away from other projects or put this one project on a to do list. If on a to do list, then it becomes a matter of how important it is. My guess is, with the China release and taking care of the new players there, fixing bugs for both the China and NA/EU versions of the game, and the Living Story as well as any other projects they have, that remodeling all the armor and costumes in the game to make them mix and match without major glitches will be low on the list.
@astral as long as it’s just the skins, we already basically have it semi-integrated in the game in the form of cash shop items (glasses/hats) and being able to wear town clothes. it would take some work, but it could be done, and it’s widely requested so spending time to work on it wouldn’t draw complaints from me.
From what I’ve read, town clothes are considered a fourth armor class, which is why you can’t mix and match them with the other 3 armor weights. The cash shop items unlock all 3 armor weights when you buy them, which is why you can.
So, it’s not actually semi-integrated at all.
Not that I would object to them making the armor weights and costumes mix and match. I’m just questioning the feasibility and likelihood of it.
OK, it would be a problem to mix different kinds of armour, but let us use their skins as a set, ? mean let me use a light armour set as a thief, OK don’t let me mix it with others but let me use the set, this wouldn’t cause any problems
That’s an interesting thought, being able to switch the armor class you are in without switching your profession.
I’m not sure it’s a possibility though. It would depend on how tied together the professions and armor weights are, and if they are somehow tied to skills. How much work it would take to decouple them? Maybe someone with programming knowledge can chime in but my guess it’s not a flip of the switch but that the 2 things are heavily entangled.
It’s against TOS to sell or buy another person’s account. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-user-agreement/
“You acknowledge that You must obtain Software from NCSOFT to use the Game and that such software may have a serial code number / access key that can only be used once….
NCSOFT hereby grants You a revocable, non-exclusive, license for personal and non-commercial use of Service, Content and Software that is non-transferable….

It’s also a bad idea because if the other person kept the relevant information, they can contact support at any time they want and take the account back. You will have absolutely no recourse to get it back.
The jumps can be really hard if you don’t live in a good connection area and have a lot of lag. There is a distinct pause between hitting the skill and the skill going off. Since the time you get to use a crystal is restricted, this pause between each jump really adds to the difficulty, and not in a good way. I would ask that the timers be either removed or the time allowed increased.
I tried for some time over 2 days to reach one coin on a 4 step jump. Each time, I could only get to jump 3 when the timer would run out as lag was eating up the time allowed.
Here is an indirect confirmation of why there will probably never be armor mixing. (source)
The thread was talking about mixing Town clothes and armor but this post refers to mixing armors as well.
Bonefield.9813
Snip
Each of the armor weights in the game is constructed differently, which is probably one of the reasons we haven’t seen mixing and matching between different weights It’s also likely the reason we see so many trenchcoats on medium armor—it’s specifically designed to support coats that go over pants.

“Bonefield has a pretty good understanding here of why some mix and match is not easy at all. Some armor and clothing combinations are fundamentally not mixable, (for more than just clipping reasons)”
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
If you wanna play the engie and not die everytime you turn around then you gotta use kits. Using just pistols is like an only rifle wielding warrior or a longbow only ranger. It can be done, but it’s not playing to the profession’s strengths. And everyone will hate you in dungeons.
Logging in unlocks it for the account. Then, like a personal story, each alt can play it separately.
Can ANet please change this from outfit to skins?
There’s so many possible combinations and styles to be done.
Did you try going to a different map? That map seems to have a lot of frame rate problems.
If this continues, you probably will have to contact support at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
Haven’t seen any recent threads about downloading stopping. There was an old one from some months ago where people were able to restart a stalled download by changing the language to French. (And changing it back after the download ended).
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
This is really interesting. If there was something like this on the trading puts that forced people away from it to play out in the world, it might resolve a lot of the current complaints about how gold is earned in this game.
And I personally wouldn’t mind if they loosened the karma faucets.
What is the best days/times for the temple of Balthazar in NA. the last 5 or 6 times I was there it wasn’t open and I’m trying to get my shards for Ascended Crafting!
I don’t know if there’s really a known good time. Probably after reset and during the weekends imo, when the most people from NA are on.
You can try guesting. The problem is, you only get 2 tries and can end up on the shard you came from each time. Other than that, just check frequently. If you don’t want to waypoint each time to check, maybe you can leave an alt in that area.
With mercenaries you could gear them up, chose which professions you wanted out of the ones you had, select their skills, tell them when to use a skill if you wanted and direct them to go to places you chose. A much more flexible system than the NPCs we get in this game.
Don’t like the holes either. They don’t fit the assassin look imo. I’m just using the male version. I tried the female version and it was too jarring seeing her fight wearing the equivalent of harem pants mixed with assassin top.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I like the male version, I put it on my Charr and I think it looks good on her.
My Sylvari male though, developed a huge, see through hole in his head when the head armor is toggled off. (Reported in game with a screenshot).
Females…. I don’t like the droopy pants. It looks, idk, unprofessional or something. Or maybe the wrong type of profession, not one I want my females to be engaging in.

Just to check because it’s a common problem, are you using the same login as the forum, email and password. Many try to login with the display name, (hirei in your case).
Well, if it’s finished downloading and you are no longer using your display name but the same login that you are using for the forum, email and password, and still can’t get in, then you will probably have to wait for support.
Depending on how busy they are, it can take up to 3 days. For more technical help you might want to try the Tech Support forum.
Good luck.

At the bottom of the screenshot, it looks like the game is still downloading the new update. I can see a partial red line. If that is true, you can’t login until the download is finished.
You can’t redo a story line and that was probably just random loot. Certainly it was nothing better than a precursor. ^^
I can’t tell if it’s unlocking account wide or not.
I did the first 3 instances on my necro. Then a few hours later, a friend came on and wanted to do it. I was on my guardian at the time. When I entered the first instance I got a warning that I wouldn’t be progressing my story line. I did the first 3 instances again on my guardian, getting that warning each time. When I checked where the story was on my guard, it was still at the first instance, meet my allies, even though I had done it with my friend.
At that point I switched back to my necro to do the 4th instance.
I like it but think it’s too expensive. 800 would be the maximum I would consider for this. All my characters are pretty much set up now on the way they look and I rarely change anything. Partially because of cost but also because I like the look they have now best.
The good part is, if you die his health doesn’t regen back up.
I used my necro and hit him with ranged. Like others said, there is a ramp that leads to where he is. You can run up it and reach him.
