The hearts aren’t the heart of the game. ^^ They were actually added late in development to add structure to the areas. People didn’t know what to do and where to go. The true heart of the PvE areas are the events. Those will occur around you as you go through an area. They may be marked by an orange circle on the map or an orange starburst icon over an NPCs head. If an NPC runs up to you and speaks to you, they probably have an event they want you to do. Named NPCs often are tied to events. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Events

There is WvW. You can reach it by clicking on the castle icon on your UI or the Asuran gates in Lion’s Arch or by the letter B on the keyboard. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_versus_World

Then there is PvP. Reached by the crossed swords on the UI. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pvp

Then of course dungeons http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dungeon

Ok so when I do PvE I should do these events?

Yes, if you’re a PvE person, then the events are the backbone of PvE. The hearts are good when leveling to get level appropriate armor and weapon as well as other items such as recipes and food. But the events are the main quests and where you get the story behind each area.

For example, go to these sites and scroll down to the events.
Queensdale, human starter zone. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Queensdale
Harathi Hinterlands: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Harathi_Hinterlands
Cursed Shore, level 80 area: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cursed_Shore
Each map has it’s own set of events.

The good part is, if you missed them while leveling you can still go back and do them and get full credit because of downleveling.

Since you have a level 80, there is also the big Meta events. http://howar31.github.io/GW2Timer/
This site has the waypoints on it. You can type them in chat and then use that to locate the events on the map.

[?] Account Bound Recipes

“Recipe unlocks are character-based: learning a recipe on one character does not unlock it for other characters on your account.”

The account bound part merely means that it is available to any of your characters to learn. As opposed to soul bound which has to be used by that character only.

Astral Projections.7320

The Guild Wars 2 story line has always had what I consider plot holes or logical fails. Look at the original personal story lines.

The human one near the beginning has you rescue either an orphanage or a hospital. When you get to the orphanage for example, it’s on fire with the bandits barricaded inside. Who in the world sets a building on fire and then barricades themselves inside?

The Norn starter instance where you earn the title of Slayer by killing Isomir. But the story behind it tells you something else. When you speak to Knut Whitebear he tells you: “By my own hand, I have brought the mighty wurm, Issormir. He waits above, in the plateau, for one such as you to challenge him.” Knut hunted that wurm down then somehow got him all the way up those steps and into that pen. After the animal was put in that pen by Knut we go over there and kill it, thus “earning” the title of Slayer. We get the title for killing an animal that was put in that small pen by someone else.

I made the comment a long time ago that they need either people trained as writers or people who edit for a living. Someone who goes through and specifically looks for logical inconsistencies.

Astral Projections.7320

A common pattern we see is where a hacker steals an account and then uses it to advertise. We lock down the account if we know it’s been compromised, and we also take action on RMT advertisers. So there can be an unhappy crossover where the account is stolen, used for bad things, and then is locked because it appears the account owner is involved in those bad things, when in fact the RMTer/Hacker is engaged in those activities.

Don’t worry, we do see such situations on a regular basis, and the team will be able to help you if the account was compromised and used for nefarious purposes.

Thank you for the response, Gaile. Just waiting for my ticket to be seen right now. Dammmm those gold sellers :/

Question: If they deleted characters to advertise their websites or whatever, would I be able to get an account roll back to when those characters existed?

Accounts that were hacked can get one account rollback (account restoration) per the lifetime of the account. This rollback does not include guild banks so if they cleaned out your guild’s vaults, including any personal guild, all that is lost.

Since you only get one it’s important that the computer be secure before it’s done and that it remain secure.

I’ll be fine with this game having mounts, so long as:

1.) They DO NOT provide any form of boost.

and 2.) I have a toggle option to hide them all.

This sounds entirely reasonable.

Agreed…that sounds very reasonable. And being able to toggle them off would solve any sort of performance hogging issues.

One question, though? If you could toggle them off, would that then show other players with mounts hovering in the air in silly sorts of riding positions with nothing under them? Hmmmm, I kind of like that idea……would be silly looking absurdness…

Seeing people floating along in a riding position across the landscape has just won the whole argument.

I love the warhorn. I’m just left wondering why the pistol/rifle gets unique sounds but the weapon that is actually an instrument for sound does not.

ETA: It also continuously bums me out that all the weapons are the same ticket price. Is the staff really worth the same as the warhorn? Because I’d argue no.

Now how in the world are they supposed to adjust prices for individual preferences? It’s not like ANet is going to know ahead of time which will be most favored.

Someone playing a warrior would be much more interested in a warhorn skin than a staff. For me, the staff is the best one and the warhorn about the least.

It isn’t about looks but 1 hand vs 2 hand weapons. Instead of making 1 hands cost 1/2 a ticket, Anet would just double the price for 2 hand weapons.

Oh I see.

Not likely to happen.

They would have to then increase all the ticket prices on all the two handed weapons. The most expensive ones would go from 7 tickets to 14. The other older ones would go from 5 to 10. This would provoke numerous outraged posts on the forum, including accusations that ANet is doing this to force people to buy gems.

There is an old saying, if it’s not broken don’t fix it.

They had the Wintersday weapons for sale in the gem store back then. The fact that they haven’t repeated this tells you how much money they get by selling the chests with the gamble factor as opposed to selling the tickets/weapons outright. They must make significantly more money selling the chests.

In other words, they’ve already tried OPs suggestion, indirectly, and abandoned it.

I would possibly have considered the ambrite weapon that has a butterfly encased in the amber, except for one major discrepancy. For some reason that escapes me, the butterfly weapon is not a weapon that mesmers can use – you know, the one class that is actually already associated with that particular insect…

Guild Tag (Unfortunately, we can’t review tags without the guild name OR a character or display name of a member)

Items that drop so rarely that the percents aren’t listed in the drop table, are not something that most people are going to spend money on. So far the drop tables have records of 3,791 chests. Of all these, only one of the permanent items was recorded. This low of a drop rate makes these items irrelevant to this discussion.

Chili Peppers are used in a wide variety of cooking dishes (from the typical “chili” dishes, to more exotic ingredients like Stir-fry or Spicy Cookies). Trouble is, they only drop in 1’s or 2’s, and only from Herb nodes in Ascalon that also share drop tables with Peppercorns and Garlic. (Along with additional herbs in higher level areas.)

All that results in a high demand for Chili Peppers, but a limited way to provide supply.

I do think it’s silly that Chili Peppers are that expensive, by the way. I think ANET needs to do to them what they did for Vanilla Beans; increase their prevalence in the loot table, and up the amount to 3 – 5.

Back at the beginning of the game, chili pepper was sold by a karma vendor. They removed this back in September 2012. They added them to the herb table in the Charr area but did not truly adjust the drop rate from harvesting even though the recipes are based on an easy to acquire karma item. I remember a number of posts back then asking that the rate be increased. It never was. The predictable result, they are now high priced.

He also should get support to remove that person’s authenticator. If he doesn’t have one for himself he might get it or the IP authorization. After his computer is clean he can update that ticket and ask for an Account a Restoration, a rollback of the account to a time before the hack. Astral Projections.7320

My take on this issue is very simple: Armor theme should be consistent between all races and gender.

If a set of armor is supposed to be a bulk body-covering armor, it should be a bulk body-covering armor for male and female. Good example: Heavy Plate Armor

If a set is supposed to look skimpy, it should be skimpy for male and female. Good example: Tribal Armor

The only way to go wrong is if an armor set have a theme under one situation, and another theme under a different situation (being the most common case: Male bulky, Female skimpy). The Norn Wolf Armor is a good example of lack of theme. While the female armor is showing a lot of skin, the male armor is literally covered from head to toe.

It can even work with the mix-and-match armor style we have. If an armor set have a big oversized shoulder pad, it should maintain that big oversized shoulder pad in both genders and in all five races. So that way if we are skimming through the gem store or the TP, looking for skins in a character, we shouldn’t be surprised when that same skin is vastly different when we switch to another character.

^ This.

I think that’s what causes the complaints, unequal skimpyness within each male/female armor set. If it’s complete coverage for male, then don’t have the female wearing a mini skirt. Make the armor themed. Skimpy or covered for both.

This title is for having 2 identical Legendarys. I wouldn’t be surprised if they put in another title later for having multiple different Legendarys. My guess is, they didn’t realize that so many people would make so many so soon, that they thought it would be a long term goal just to make one. If this is true that’s why there were no titles or extra achievements (iirc) for having more than one.

Post a suggestion in the Discussion Forum, asking for a title for multiple Legendaries.

No but
1) SUBJECT alpha was an inquest test subject within the crucible of eternity, which is now controlled by the pact. you don’t think the inquest took any notes during their extensive experimentation, or that the pact decided that a facility working to create a controllable dragon champion wasn’t worth looking through their archives. As second in command of the pact I’m sure you would be informed of any other potential new (main) dangers/targets to the army. Not to mention that at least both the priory and the OoW knew there were 6 dragons before the crucible of eternity (you can read that in my earlier reply).
2) Mordremoth may only be the name that the pact has give (or possibly the name used in inquest sources once the crucible came under completely pact control.) the jungle dragon after, kind of like how tequatl’s name comes from the hylek language not necessarily what its real name is but what it is known as by its enemies.
3) We also discovered Scarlett’s journal which details her going mad (in game we only read what a page worth of dialogue in a journal surely there was more information inside) and talking about how she is fighting an outside influence, I wouldn’t be surprised if the name was mentioned in there.
4) The Pale tree may have gained some of scarlett’s memories through the dream of dreams. (“Pale Tree holds the sylvari’s collected knowledge and emotion”)

So you’re saying that because our character is part of the Pact, we know every single thing in the world ? Like, in the future if we get elona, it’d be totally obvious for our character to be up to date with what’s happening there because hey, the OoW is over there.

The thing is we never see this name (and don’t even bring combat logs in this…) and suddenly, our character utters this and everyone’s perfectly fine with it, like it’s a completely known fact.

The problem isn’t “why does the PC know the real name ?” or “is this the real name ?” it’s “hey new dragon. Well I’m naming it Mordremoth and everyone’s instantly knows what I’m talking about”.

Even if dragons have personal names, are you likely to ever know it. Did someone ever speak to Zhaitan to learn it? Does his undead know? Would they tell you if they did? Again, it’s much more likely Zhaitan was a name chosen by people rather than its personal name.

Yes his undead knows his name.
“Zhaitan will devour you, just as he devoured our gods.”

Still isn’t proof positive. It could be the name they called him while alive and the only name they still know. It’s also may be a title, rather than an actual name. Zhaitan is very similar to Shaitan, a word which means devil.

Astral Projections.7320

Just a quick side thought. How did the Dragons name get `known` anyway? Did the Dwarves and Jotan sit down with Zhaitan in some ancient time and have a conversation where the Dragons all introduced themselves?

Admittedly Glint might have let us know of the names of the other dragons, but if she did that, then maybe she named all the other dragons including Mordremoth.

What I’m getting at, is that chances are, Mordremoth doesn’t necessarily think of himself as `Mordremoth`, it could just be the name that the Durmond Priory came up with to describe the dragon, it could also be simply that your character decided to call it Mordremoth, and that name will stick.

This is likely.

Glint aside, aren’t the dragons more like elemental forces rather than thinking creatures? They are unlikely then to have names for themselves. Any names is what the people of Tyria have made up for them. These names would be well known to the main people who are fighting dragons and as Commander it would be something your character would know.

Even if dragons have personal names, are you likely to ever know it. Did someone ever speak to Zhaitan to learn it? Does his undead know? Would they tell you if they did? Again, it’s much more likely Zhaitan was a name chosen by people rather than its personal name.

On the other, it makes ANet look sloppy that they spent all that time designing the weapons and couldn’t spend the few seconds needed to google the proper names. It shows a continuing problem with quality control. The mini male Charr (Tybalt) with a female tail is another example. This is a mini of one of their most well known NPCs and they messed it up.

“Guild Wars 2 players are permitted to use macros as long as the macros are programmed with a 1 key for 1 function protocol.
This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.
For example, if you Press A and it results in the casting of a single skill, you’re ok. If you Press A and it casts multiple spells, you’re not ok.
You cannot program a macro to performs the same or multiple actions on more than one account at a time.
You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere”.
