What if you get blinded but the fight ends before you attack or you run off? Later you get into another fight. Your opening attack misses because there is no timer on blind.

I read the Account Issues forum and there are threads there periodically from people upset because they got a forced name change or were suspended for language, so those work. The problem is that was just a few months into the game. People hadn’t yet gotten tired of the “standard” skins, they had just tossed a lot of money buying the box in the first place, and the skins were interesting but not very weapon-looking. They also hadn’t gotten into the mindset of buying gems with gold, or even having a lot of gold to spare for it anyway.

I think the dynamic is different now and gem store skins will sell a lot better.

All that is true, but I’m not sure it’s enough to change the market.

Look at how much ANet gains by selling weapon skin directly vs key sales. With direct sales, ANet will get a set amount, I’m going to assume 500 gems. With the chests, research has shown that it takes ~50 keys, on average, to get one ticket. ANet sells 50 keys for 4,200 gems. That’s a big increase and in spite of the complaints on the forums about the chests and RNG, I get the feeling that ANet sells large numbers of keys.

I was posting on a thread a while back where one person (Wanze) said he put a some chests for sale. iirc there was ~100,000 chests listed before his and his chests sold in about 2 weeks. Currently demand for the chests is 1,317,319. That’s a lot of chests being wanted. Possibly people are flipping them but flippers can’t be continuously selling to each other. Someone has to be buying them for their own use.

It’s that difference in money, 500 gems versus 4,200 gems and the anecdotal information of 100,000 chests sold in 2 weeks that makes me think that they will never (or rarely) sell weapon skin sets directly.

Hmmm, I’m still finding your question to be vague. If you are planning to do WvW then you need to look at the server rankings and find one you like.

For sPvP, the Megaservers will bring all together so choosing one server doesn’t matter. It will be all the NA servers or all the EU servers.

They did release a set of skins in the gem store back in the Wintersday Holliday of 2012, the Winter’s weapon skins. The whole set was for sale on the gemstore for 500 gems per skin. My guess is, the sales through the gem store were lower than their expectations, thus the change to RNG sales.

It appears they tried direct sales and then tried RNG sales. Since they continued with RNG sales then that must mean RNG brings in more money than direct sales.

Within each region there is only one set of Megaservers. If you are planning to do WvW then you don’t look at them. You look at the individual servers and how well they do as WvW is not part of the Megaservers.

Yeah Astral basically you need 50 geodes for the inscription recipe, 350-400 geodes (t4-5) for the weapon recipe, and the x amount of geodes to get a fossil. And since that x for me was getting to be over 1000 geodes spent with no fossil, I gave up.

I’m begging the devs to bring back SAB so I can work for COOL skins that require skill and effort and fun instead of boredom and luck.

I’m already working on a full set of ascended weapons for 8 chars. I hasn’t realized this needed the geodes for a weapon inscription in addition to the Nomad inscription. That…..is more than time, effort and RNG than I want to dedicate to this weapon skin.

Oh well, at least I found out at the start.

can’t say that I’ve opened 100 chests.. but dang near close. I’ve gotten three goggles and would gladly exchange them for one fossil. Spent most of yesterday, running events, helping folks with chest locations ect. had fun early on, but by the end was just frustrated..

maybe add a small chance in some of the champ chests? or how about a chance for a fossil in the sand giant chests.. as not to many people find the sand giant worth the time anyway. might spark some interest in actually wanting to fight that pain. I would offer skritt queen reward.. but that requires t4.

it was mentioned up top.. sooner or later this content will become “old”, and the people needed to reach t4 will become extremely difficult. Terrible design. Pretty soon there will be people complaining about having fossils and no way to purchase the recipe, due to not being able to reach t4. (and rightly so) I am grinding the heck out of it now.. for fear that the eventual “ghost town” will hit.

wish the folks that put these areas and rewards together.. put a bit more thought into the long term. acquisition of items/recipes that are only accessible, by having gobs of people running timed events, to push the tiers up.. lol.. sooner or later the gobs move on.

Surely a couple of people can at least reach tier 2.

The recipes for the bug skin weapons are tier 4.. you can check yourself.. go to a vendor. and cycle each of the tabs to tier 4. after all .. that is what this topic is about. Bug skin fossils and drop rates.

Oh, you have to have a recipe for the bug skin also? Didn’t know that. Haven’t gotten that far and I thought you just turned in a fossil for a specific bug needed and then was able to craft it. My bad.

You just need to research the cartographer title before you start that part as some areas such as the starter Canthan area can only be accessed at certain times of the year by non Canthan characters.

I’m going to push my suggestion then for a costume /tonic that makes you look like you are riding a mount.

The costume/tonic has no speed boost and only costume brawl skills. If a tonic, your character is replaced with a generic one riding the mount. If a costume, the top half remains your character while the bottom half is replaced by a mount.

Picture included is of a novelty item but gives an idea of what the costume one would look like. Top half is character and bottom half is costume. The mount can be 2 legged, 4 legged, or winged but only flies as high as the witches broom. No jumping ability.

Of course you realize as a costume the dye channels will be completely different. If you already have a color set up you want, it might not be possible as a costume.

Who knows maybe Jewelry at 500, if and when they ever put it in, will have cosmetic effects.

The wardrobe is also useful as you can preview armor and weapons, regardless of whether or not you have those items.

The requirement for casuals is hardly difficult. Fire up the computer every 2 weeks and log onto a character for a minute.

Late comers can pay, ignore, read up on it, watch youtube, or party up with someone who has it. Only one of those options requires payment.

Name it anything but Guild Wars 2. One early EQ2 lead developer stated that naming the game Everquest 2 was a huge mistake.

Start the new game with a built in Lore Bandaid. I thought for years that what EQ2 did was cheesy.. but they avoided retroactive lore revisions to Everquest. EQ2 Norrath was stated as “one of many possible timelines”. The Paramount Trek fixitall.
It’s ugly, but it works.

I kind of think they should have named it something else also. Naming it Guild Wars 2 brought over certain expectations that were never filled. This game is so different from the original that there is little comparison except for lore. Even the maps are nowhere near the same, not only the boundaries but the features within them. If I didn’t have a site that overlays the two maps I would have no idea where the old cities and outposts were.

Go look up the character Ibuki from the Street Fighter series. The female version of the outfit in GW2 is pretty much identical to her costume, save for the bow/obi, which in turn appears on costumes for other Japanese characters Akuma, Gouken and E. Honda.

I just googled Ibuki. That’s very interesting. I have extreme doubts that any female ninjas/assassins ever actually ran around with a side view like that but it tells us where ANet got their inspiration for this costume.

Having no waypoints would royally mess up guild missions since they are scattered over multiple maps. The big problem is the time needed to get to 4 sites on 4 different random maps.

Typical guild mission set:
Guild Bounty in Fields of Ruin
Guild puzzle in Plains of Ashford
Guild challenge in Southsun
Guild rush in Lornar’s Pass.

Running to each of these maps to do missions? No thank you.

I haven’t seen any Norns shape shifting except to maybe try it out. Even Braham knows those skills aren’t worth the skill points.

Most likely it’s bugged because they didn’t realize people would do this. You will need to contact support. Make a ticket at Support (top of page) then Submit a Request (top of page).

I’d be more interested in seeing the events for the map I’m on, as orange circles on the map for ongoing events and orange dots for events that can be triggered.

Right now there are orange circles, but you need to be close and the orange icons above NPCs head, you have to actually be there to see them. I would like these to be viewable map wide.

Having notifications appearing and disappearing on my UI for maps I’m not on, that would cost me more silver to travel to than I would gain by doing them, would be annoying. It’s not likely people would use this system to waypoint then run to random map’s events.

Ambients, they count as kills. Use shield skill #4 or both skills on the focus and you are the Mighty Ambient Killer. Too bad there isn’t a title for it. I recommend a stiff drink, a location with lots of ambients and and resigning yourself to spending a lot of time, waiting for the skills to recharge after mowing them down.

What are you planning to do in that area anyway? The one instance? Once it’s done will you need to go to that spot?

It’s not that big a deal to go through the portal to do that instance.

You don’t have to download the game again, that’s separate. The account gives you access to the game, after it’s been downloaded, with 5 character slots and the bank.

How about something like this? Just the appearance of riding a mount, no speed increase.

It’s a major pain to kill with most offhand weapons. Most have, at best, one skill that will kill and unless you are killing ambients you have to time it. It’s not good enough to do major damage with the skill, it has to be the killing blow. This means none of the offhand weapons are on the list OP is asking about.

So one thing you have to consider is, what profession is the most common and what weapons are most commonly used by that profession. Also what weapons are most commonly used by the other professions. I’m going to put my vote on greatsword as the most common. It has warrior (probably the most common profession), Mesmer, Guardian, and Ranger using this. The least common, my vote is shield. Not only does it not really have a good killing skill but it’s probably the least commonly used weapon.

So, greatsword and shield are my votes.

The place to post this type of suggestion is List of things we want in the gemstore. I bet they check it regularly.

I have to agree. Even someone like me that’s not especially into immersion finds the sensuous stretching and idle dirt kicking jarring and inappropriate during these scenes.

The servers first opened up August 24th, and iirc it was 9pm Pacific Time. That will be the oldest birthdate possible.

Maybe not hearts. If you look at the level 75 to 80 maps already in place, none of them have hearts. The hearts were put in place towards the end of the game’s development as many didn’t know what to do without some sort of structured quests. By the time people hit the level 80 areas, it was assumed they knew how to look for events and the hearts were not put in. For this reason, I suspect the new maps will not have hearts.
