I don’t think anyone really knows, including the OP. That sure is a lot of words to not say anything.

60g would be 5 or 6 keys, so if that’s the case, I’d say he did EXTREMELY well for himself tbh.

Well, in that case, I have no idea what he was talking about since he said 50 keys and 60 gold. I’m going to put myself among the ranks of the confused also.

Because of that, I’ve accepted I won’t be having even one Legendary
Snip

If you just want a Legendary to have a Legendary then there are at least 3 precursors priced at 80 to 90 gold. Rodgort’s Flame, Rage and Venom. Carcharias is currently about 120 (buy) to 145 (sell). If you don’t have your heart set on one of the high priced ones, a precursor is definitely within reach.

(Shrug) it’s what I did. There wasn’t a Legendary I particularly wanted but when I saw how cheap Rodgort’s Flame was I decided to get it anyway.

You could always make the Legendary from the cheap precursor, sell it and use those funds to go toward a precursor for one you really want.

If gw2 had a increase in population like many talk we should see new servers open but we got megaserver (servers merge) so you got the idea also servers status is how many acc are on xx server not how many ppl are online ..

They don’t want to open new servers because of WvW. If they open one, they will have to open 3 to make a set. What they have repeatedly done in the the past is increase server capacity. A number of servers will become Full or High and they increase capacity.

Not sure if it’s a bug or intentional to try to get people to buy them. I’m out of mystic salvage kits now.

I’ve gotten most of mine from the Achievement chests. 5 from the regular ones, 10 from the Large, 15 from the Heavy and 25 from the Massive. I haven’t had enough drop from dailies to consider as a source. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement_Chest_

Many people, I’m sure with the game as mature as it is now. But there are new people coming in, people who are filling out their wardrobe, people who are tired of their old look or who see the a new weapon skin as better than what they already have.

There is always a market for new skins. .

What is known about the `anti farming` code?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

From what I’ve read, it’s
Time based
Character based (probably)
Map based
Leaving the map and doing something else removes it. (Unknown as to time it takes or what exactly you need to do, whether it’s just kill other things in another zone or do an event/heart).
As to whether it’s all mobs or currently farmed mobs, I haven’t heard.

So if you are on a map for a long time you can get hit with DR (diminishing returns). You have to leave the map to remove it. If you switch to another character on the same map instead, that one shouldn’t (no guarantees here) be affected.

I have the perfect compromise idea. A gem store costume that makes you look like you are riding a mount. It will still be your legs running and your own profession’s speed boost. But the costume will look like you are riding a mount.

You mean like the riding broom we already have? >.>
Or was that your point?

For the people who want mounts, just give them 2 coconut shells and be done with it.

What kind of swallow would be used to deliver it though?

Why RNG-only skins are bad

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

Great suggestions in this thread.

I doubt ANet will pay any attention. “Working as intended” will be their mantra.

It is working as intended. Want a Legendary – it is an optional grind. Same with Ascended items – optional.

You can be very competitive even with Green Items in GW2, if you know how to play.

Which has nothing to do with this thread. I’m not talking about ascended items (have’em) or green items or anything you brought up. All those items are attainable via “hard” work.

The issue I raise is that a cosmetic item is ONLY available via pure, unmitigated LUCK. No matter how many chests I open, it is very possible the item will not drop. No amount of perseverance, digital sweat, or money can guarantee me the item.

I’d be glad to work for an insect. ANet won’t let me work for it.

It’s not laziness, or lack of trying, or lack of initiative, or unwillingness to spend money.

It’s a matter of LUCK only.

You can probably also buy them as many of the skins are shared. Also, that does not change the fact that it is pure looks only, not FUNCTIONAL. If it was functional that is one thing, looks are totally subjective and a matter of preference. It has nothing to do with the game is working as intended and has everything to do with ‘Look AT Me’ syndrome.

And what’s wrong with “look at me” in a game based on cosmetics? If the items are account bound, If the final item is account bound, why does that skin then need to be rare? Why not make it a common drop. The people who want it can get it. They can even farm for multiples. The people who only want to display hard to get items can ignore these skins in favor of the hard to get skins.

From what they have said, it’s not the clipping that’s the problem but that the different weight classes simply can’t be mixed together.

“When we started looking at bringing more of the clothing back into armor with mix and match styles there are some fundamental incompatible things between weight classes. (part of how we set up every armor to allow many dye channels and styles per piece). There really is no way at this point over six years since we started development to make absolutely everything work together. So we needed something new to continue to grow in the future. Outfits give us a way to create highly stylized looks that aren’t constrained to armor slots or weight class".

Ambiguity - Profit vs. Listing Price

Astral Projections.7320

My guess is he paid ~60 gold to get the one ticket from 50 keys. After that he tried to sell the weapon skin for 90 gold, which is the 30 gold difference he was talking about.

“In 50 chests opened I received 3 black lion scraps and 1 black lion ticket. I don’t foresee myself EVER buying black lion keys again.”

I don’t think OP did so bad for himself. It appears he invested 60 gold and made 30 gold profit in a few minutes. As he said, he could have run dungeons to make that amount, but it would have taken hours. He saw that 90 gold and was expecting 90 gold pure profit. The only way it could be “pure profit” would be to do key runs, and not to consider opportunity costs of gold not gained by doing other things.

I don’t think OP is being realistic here.

Give us back the SAB

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

I bet the crippling bugs and negative feedback re: 2-2 has scared them off SAB for now. There was a post from Josh Foreman a while back noting the sharp decrease in player numbers for W2 vis-a-vis W1.

That said, I hope it comes back too.

I think this was it:
http://joshuaforeman.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html

“Later in the day I casually asked the founder/president if we had any analytics about how many people were playing. Well collecting that kind of data seems to be really fun for him as far as I can tell, so we ended up working together to gather that information for a while. That was nice, except for finding out what I suspected based on my forum experience: the numbers are pretty dismal (Compared to the exceptional numbers of the first SAB) right now. I really hope that this patch will bring people back, but without the old reward schedule I don’t think it will happen. So I’m pretty bummed and feel like I let down the whole company and especially my team because I made some poor judgement calls as coordinator.”.

Perhaps the numbers were low enough they are hesitant to put in the SAB very often. They may want to let time go by so it’s new and fresh content for most people.

Sure, if something is in the market at the start that’s one thing. But something that other people have spent time and effort to get? Arguing that you should be able to pull out your credit card and have just because you don’t want to spend the time and effort?

It took me months to get the full 30 points with all the items. When I see someone with a HoM skin or title, I know s/he is a Guild Wars 1 vet also. It would cheapen them to be placed on the shelf for anyone with a few bucks to pick up.

“Guild vaults are restricted to the world where they were created”.

“Guild membership is not limited to a single world — a guild can have members from any server, whether in the US or EU. However, the guild’s influence pool and upgrades (including the Guild Vault) are specific to each world, just like a social club would need to acquire separate furniture for each of its branch offices.”

The guild banks, the influence, and their upgrades are restricted to each particular server. HoD and Crystal Desert both have their own influence pools and guild vault upgrades. Only members of those servers can add to the influence or access the vault upgrades.

So if you are guesting, you won’t be able to access the guild vault on the HoD. You will need to transfer to have access.

Ok I had to research it a bit. What I was trying to talk about was Modifiers. The modifier that this game allows is shift.

For example, go to Control options where you assign keys for skills. Double click on the spot where you assign the key for the Healing skill. A panel will appear. Hold down Shift and 1 at the same time. It will then have Shift + 1 in that spot.
To use the Healing skill press Shift and then without releasing shift, press one.

If you are short of keys, this allows any key to have 2 uses. In this case, key one will be weapon skill one and (with shift) the healing skill.

If you have a shortage of available keys, look into a mouse with additional buttons. I use a Razer Naga with 14 buttons on the side as well as the right/left/scroll buttons.

I use the 1 through 12 side buttons for skills, the click on the mouse scroll button for dodge and then WASD for movement, leaving lots of other keys for miscellaneous other functions.

Edit: if you don’t wish to get another mouse, you can set the keys up so that they can be used twice. iirc you can’ use a key such as ~ to layer another use. For example skill one is key number one and skill six is ~1 where you hit ~ then 1 to use skill six. (This is likely not very clear. It’s not something I do, just something I read about but I can try to explain further if needed).

The Hall of Monument items are a reward to all the people who supported Guild Wars 1 by buying and playing that game. They are also a form of compensation to these players.

When I started playing this game I had to abandon my old characters with their expensive and prized armor, minipets, heroes, mercenaries, inventories full of items, skill sets, titles, time played, etc, etc. I and the other players certainly never asked ANet to ditch Guild Wars 1 and start Guild Wars 2.

I’m not saying that I don’t enjoy this game, but the Guild Wars 1 players lost a lot when they transferred to here.

Just a caution. ANet forbids any keybinding where it’s more than one key, one action. They will terminate without warning any account they find doing this.

So you can’t use things like gaming mouses?

You can’t have one key press performing more than one action.

http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/1043-macros-multi-boxing-and-guild-wars-2/
“Guild Wars 2 players are permitted to use macros as long as the macros are programmed with a 1 key for 1 function protocol.
This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.
For example, if you Press A and it results in the casting of a single skill, you’re ok. If you Press A and it casts multiple spells, you’re not ok.
You cannot program a macro to performs the same or multiple actions on more than one account at a time.

1) Keybind ‘Free Camera’ and hold it
2) Keybind ‘About face’ and press it (no need to hold it down)
3) [Withdraw]
4) Release ‘Free Camera’

Looks like that it if only it were simpler :/
Does anyone know a way to make it so I only need to press 1 key? I can’t really get it to work because for some reason my game doesn’t let me do more than 2 actions at once, so if I’m holding my mouse button down, moving or using an ability I won’t be able to do it.

What other ways are there to get karma? Afaik it’s events and hearts only. If he doesn’t want to do EotM then it’s PvE event farming (with a booster on).

If he wants to farm events, Frostgorge normally has a champ train running and they are all events that gain you karma. The new Dry Top area has a lot of events at the moment with people calling them out. Cursed shore had people doing events the last time I was there. Find a commander tag to locate a zerg then party up to get the maximum benefit. The big meta events pop every 15 minutes. Those can be farmed for karma, exp and loot. Like so many have said, make your own group. It will fill and you can start while those people are still waiting.

The nice thing about ranger is their ability to use healing spring for condition cleansing and long term heal when you are standing in one spot and if you do get downed the pet has a command available to come over and help heal you. This command works even if the pet is defeated. This healing when downed is very useful and decreases the number of times you die as well as getting you up from a downed state faster.

I think having visible map wide icons showing active events or events that can be activated would be especially helpful to new people. There was one thread a few days ago where the OP didn’t seem to know about events at all. He was complaining about how boring the game was and it seems that he was just doing hearts. If there was map wide icons appearing and disappearing this should be enough to pique their curiosity to check them out.

As to far away events ending before I get there, maybe so but I would prefer to have the choice of whether or not to try for it. If it’s really a concern then increase the area that orange circles can be seen, maybe to 1/3 of the map, and add event NPC icons to that area.

[Suggestion] Event notification

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

One reason why people don’t do a map’s regular (non Big Boss) events is how hard it is to find them. You have to roam around, hoping to run into an orange circle or get a notification. That much down time, looking for something to do is boring. Previous to the Megaservers I used an app that would tell me events A, B and C are up. I could waypoint or run to them and do them. The Megaservers killed that app and I’m doing a lot fewer events now.

If you could look at the big map and see, for that map, orange circles for ongoing events or orange dots for NPCs who can give you an event then it’s obvious what that map is offering for you to do. Without some sort of long range notification system the maps appear barren of stuff to do. If you want to get the daily events or farm karma it’s much easier to run the Champ train in Frostgorge or EOTM rather than go to some map and wander around hoping to find something.

There’s a simple solution to this. As it’s becoming as harmful to the game as gear inspection is in others, treat it the same way.
Either make showing AP optional, or remove the ability to see another player’s AP completely from the game and only make it visible on the website leaderboards.

I wish they would remove its ingame visibility or make it optional. Most of the points gained have nothing to do with skill (points gained doing ambient killer for example). The higher mine goes, the more uncomfortable I feel having people trying to judge my skill level by it, especially in a dungeon since I so rarely do them.

If you put is off till last then it’s a major pain as you have to wait for the map to change colors and that can take weeks.
