you bought 7 identical unlimited tools yourself. if you really meant to tell me you don’t think people’ll buy more than 1 for the convenience, I have nothing more to say.

Yes, but I’ve done that because these items were soulbound. Never I would have thought that they will pass unlimited tools from soulbound to account bound one day.

Why they have made this items account bound ? I don’t think this is for the business but more for the convenience. They could be leave this items soulbound and the earning were more significant, but they didn’t do that. Why ?

But the real question is : why there isn’t more solidarity between players when a good suggestion is published on forums ? There is nothing negative in what I propose for players. I better understand why the game struggling to advance with the mentality here. No encouragements. Only negative reviews.

You defend your interests or what ? You’ve buy identical items and this suggestion makes you jealous ? Let talk the logic. These suggestions are only positive for our entire characters instead of one of them only.

Part of what makes a good suggestion is the the likelihood of ANet taking it up and adding it to the game. A suggestion that is wonderful for the players but is only negative for the company has low possibility of it being added.

Why should ANet add a feature that hurts their income? Any good suggestion has to consider this and make sure that it’s no worse than income neutral. Since your suggestion will hurt their income, this means it needs to be changed to account for this before it can be considered a good suggestion.

If you just want us to read and approve your suggestion, well it’s great. No drawbacks for the players.
If you want ANet to read and approve your suggestion, read yes, approve and put in, not likely. Too many economic drawbacks.

I’m reminded of this social experiment that was once carried out where a world famous violinist busked in front of a subway station for half a day. His total takings? Something like $30. Yet this same violinist would play at a concert hall two days later, where people would pay hundreds of dollars per ticket.

Barely anybody on the street recognised the musician, or grasped the depth of his talent. Yet odds are some of those same people might have gone to his concert and paid large sums of money to hear the same music they couldn’t even appreciate when they got it for free.

Is that a sign of how the unwashed masses can’t appreciate good art, or that good artistic skill is actually overvalued? I’ll let you decide.

It might mean the quality of players by subway stations is so high that he was only average there.

I’m not dead sure what your post has to do with whether or not using macros ingame will get you banned, but carry on.

Which legitimate criticism of the game did OP make? (Ones that are personal opinions and offer no constructive feedback, such as flat statements that the professions are boring, don’t count).

-no end game
-grind all the time
-crafting

These are all points beaten like a dead horse for some time now that go ignored. I can expand
1. There are virtually no high effort high reward content in the game.
2. All of the end content revolves around grinding ascended/legendary and cosmetics, the only way of doing said grinding is low effort extremely low reward content.
3. The constant nerfing of farming, no more champion runs, NO MORE DYE DROPS (desperate grab for peoples money from lion chest keys).

No end game- they said at the start that there was no end game. If you buy a game that advertises itself like this then you can hardly fault them for it. Not a legitimate complaint.
Crafting- personal opinion. I like the crafting in this game. Our two opinions cancel out.
Grind- personal opinion. I like the type of grind in this game. Our two opinions cancel out.

I asked you what legitimate complaint did OP have. You have yet to answer.

Edit: it’s reset now. Time for me to go play this “bad game”.

I see this forum is still filled with ridiculous logic as always.

You think a sequel to a game should be an extension or an improvement over the original? NAW I GUESS YOU JUST WANT GW 1.2 !!!

Here want to eat some of this dirt? No? Well I guess it just “isnt the food for you”.

Someone making legitimate criticisms about the game? Nope lets just poo poo them and call them “negative” as if that completely removes any point that was made.

“Add a special NPC at the Black Lion Trading Company or in the home instance for reclaim unlimited account bound gem store items (there is no flaw because it’s account bound).”

I assume here you are talking about the harvesting tools. I can see two flaws from ANet’s point of view.

1) If customers can buy one unlimited axe and then go to an NPC and get a copy for each of their chars, then why should they buy a second unlimited axe? (And yes, people do buy multiple unlimited harvesting tools, one for each char in some cases). So, loss of sales for ANet.

2) A second flaw from ANet’s point of view. If someone already has multiple unlimited axes and can now go to an NPC and get free axes, then they are going to demand refunds for all those multiple axes. This means either refunding all that money or have endless complaining on the forum about it.

As to deleted Mini Rytlocks, I’ve seen threads where they contacted support and got another.

From what I’ve read on other threads, in general, support will not change things based on player error. If you select one reward then regret it then they will not change you over to another reward.

The problem is, if they did this then everyone who gets one reward and then later decides they wanted a different one would be making tickets and tying up Support’s resources. Since this is not a subscription based game with money coming in from every person who plays (instead of the fewer people who spend real money on gems) then the budget for support is smaller. Smaller budget, fewer things support will do for you.

Imo any of these ‘coming back to Guild Wars 2’ threads where they start off with something like “Is it still bad?” or “convince me to come back” are threads where the person doesn’t actually want to come back. The title shows their real opinion of the game.

In many cases they were expecting Guild Wars 1 Redux. The OP already said that Guild Wars 1 was the best mmo ever made.

His complaints:
He doesn’t like getting to level 80. – That’s still there.
No end game. – Not sure of his complaint there, Guild Wars 1 didn’t have a classic endgame either and that’s “the best mmo ever made”.
Didn’t like the crafting.- Still there, in fact it’s now level 500 for many crafts.
‘Boring classes’. – If they were boring then, they are boring now.
‘Insane server structure. (Gw1 districts ftw)’. – basic server structure is still the same.
Gem shop news.- no change.
Dumb login procedure. – hasn’t changed.
No level scaling according to him. – no change.
Support not responding to ticket. – He needs to read Not getting our Emails.
Empty servers. – ok. That is one thing that has changed with Megaservers.
Crashes. – he may need to contact support if he is having unexplained frequent crashes.

Truthfully, I don’t think OP will be happy in this game. Most of the things he dislikes are still here. OP asked, “Or just play gw1 – best mmo ever made”. I think he will be happiest there. This is not Guild Wars 1 remade. It’s a completely different game connected only by the lore. If you are not willing to accept it on its own terms but want gw1 with a new skin then it’s going to be a disappointment.

… and playing music is such an advantage?

I would think that it’s more ANet holding a hard line against macros than whether or not music playing gives advantages. They can’t reasonably say no macros but then allow some macros. A company gets into legal problems when they apply the rules inconsistently.

Anet applies rules inconsistently all over the place. One example that’s come to light of late is the treatment of people with two of the same legendaries (some got refunded one, others didn’t).

Is there a stated rule about refunding Legendarys that you can point to? If not, then this is irrelevant.

We are talking here about ANet following rules that they have clearly and openly stated. Not refunds where we don’t know the specifics and the reasons why they ok’d some but not others.

From what I’ve read, there were some refunds done and then it abruptly stopped. What this sounds like to me, the support people who refunded did so without proper authorization and the refunds were stopped when management learned about it. This is actually, imo, a much more likely situation than ANet being deliberately inconsistent with applying rules about refunds.

Agony Resistance, Please read, Idea.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

Sounds unworkable.

In Guild Wars 1, agony was in an instanced map. Same for Guild Wars 2. Unless there are different skill levels related to different agony resistance levels then what is the point in having it? If the skill level is the same for the different agony levels, then it’s just a gear check. Nothing special.

If the skill level is different according to your agony resistance then how can the map give you, with +10 resistance, a different experience than the person next to you at +1? The boss would have to be given a way to check each person before it attacks, see their agony resistance and match it’s attack to that level.

Choosing between cleric and guardian

Cleric vs Rune of the Guardian presumably is the question.

Well, if you are into healing things until they die……
Otherwise, not so good. You might be close to unkillable, but you lack the power to kill mobs quickly. If you die a lot in PvE, maybe a piece or two is useful until you learn how to play better.

In dungeons, you won’t be wanted. Your lack of power will make you a slow killer and most people won’t need the group heals your armor offers.

If you want to enjoy Guild Wars 2 then you will have to approach it on its own terms. If you are constantly comparing it to Guild Wars 1 (which you like better) then no, you might as well not bother.

If you had a sigil of bloodlust and you put a sigil of corruption on top of it, the sigil of bloodlust is gone. It’s overwritten. If you want bloodlust back you will need to buy another.

You also can only have one type of stacking sigil active at a time. If you have 2 different ones on your weapons (such as one bloodlust and one corruption), either the same weapon or different ones, only one will stack. The other will remain inactive.

Omg that’s 10 gold gone just like that. Was that fact mentioned when I was stacking the Sigil of Corruption over. If so I guess I should read before clicking yes now… Thanks for clarifying anyway

It’s possible to get one cheaper, but you will really need a black lion salvage kit.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_Battleaxe

Thank you very much! You’ve been very helpful! Yup, I’ve saved 24 of those kits. Between the 2 Sigils for a heavy condition, bomb and grenade kit for an Engineer, which will you recommend?

P.S. I just checked the price on the market and the cost of the axe is comparable to the sigil =[

You make the Axe in the Mystic Forge then salvage it with a BLSK, last I checked the mats where about 3 gold + 50 Skill points. Also when you put a second sigil on a weapon you have to manually select the second slot otherwise it will just overwrite the first sigil.

Sorry, yes but I meant to make and then salvage. (You were supposed to use your psychic powers and read my mind) ^^

If you have a level 80 you can go to Frostgorge, Malchor’s Leap and/or Cursed Shores to collect orichalcum and ancient wood to make the 5 axe blades and 5 hafts. You probably already have the 30 Mystic coins and then it’s just the skill points.

As to which sigil is better, I don’t main an engie but from what I’ve read power is better then condition damage. You might make a thread in the Engineer Forum to ask those people there. The answer probably depends on whether you are talking about PvE vs sPvP vs WvW.

I’m actually really pleased with the transmutation charges, except that I have leftover stones from the old system that are useless. I like that they’re not physical items (not for long, anyway).

I could be mistaken but I’m pretty sure the old stones can be converted to charges. It just takes 3 stones for 1 charge, 1 crystal for 1 charge, and 1 splitter for 5 charges.

So, if you had 5 stones, you’ll be left with 2.

that only counts for normal stones, lvl 80-only stones are 1 charge for 1 stone

Yes, but I have two of the normal stones leftover, and it makes me sad.

Left with 2 as well, was thinking about getting one from someone else until I noticed they were account bound. I’m guessing the only thing that can be done with them is to destroy them.

Yes, destroy. The chance of ever being able to do something with them hovers around zero. (I had one or two left over, which I deleted).

Do a complete security sweep of your computer, including looking for keyloggers. After you are sure it’s clean, change the password on your email.

It sounds like you have several tickets going. This slows them down. All they do is read and close down any tickets after the first one. If you have extra tickets, close down all except the first one. Update the first one with any additional information.

If you think there still might be a problem with your computer’s security or your email and want to change the game’s email, close down the original ticket. Make a new one using the email that you want to switch to.

Since you are willing to pay the gem cost to transfer crafting from one char to another and since you are wiling to delete and relevel, why not just use the gems you would have used for that to buy new character slots and relevel them.

Advantages:
1) the cost to you will probably be the same or cheaper (as it’s unlikely to be less than 800 gems for one crafting transfer).
2) those 2 chars can be used for storage, around 160 extra slots. (As opposed to 30 slots for one bank tab).
3) ANet doesn’t have to rework the crafting system.

What about adding crossbows and/or hand crossbows as weapons. If not, how about adding skins for them. A club/mace skin that looks like a bone (maybe a jawbone) or a bone staff. Add a morning star or skin for the mace to look like it, with something to show it swinging back and forth while it is being held.

Astral Projections.7320

The gem store armor skins have only one free application. After that it costs one transmutation charge for each piece. You can get one charge by mapping a city or complete a regular map and get a charge or a black lion key.

With the new wardrobe system, while it has it’s advantages, it did make transmutation for lower levels more expensive. Since leveling is so fast and you will be changing armors at least every 10 levels, it’s better now not to use the transmutations. Either use whatever look is available for that level or buy and use a costume.

If you have other character slots you can map a city, delete and remap. Or your other permanent characters can also map the cities to get charges.

Even worse…. You can’t use those in Mystic Toi… ehem… Forge.

You can throw karma items into the mystic forge. You will get back one item that is salvageable in exchange for the four put in. Doing this is one way to use karma and get armor that can be salvaged into mats.

For example: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cloth_Crab_Grabbin'_Gloves

It’s possible OP can put his armor in the forge and get something he can salvage. It’s not much, but it’s better than deleting it.

So if a player could die from farming an incomplete event then it is not an exploit?

“An exploit is the misuse of a software feature or bug in a way that allows a player to generate in-game benefits without the risk or time expected by the game’s designers

They do expect people to die occasionally. That is one of the expected risks.

The designers expect the people to get the rewards gained within the events parameters and what it requires you to do to finish the event. If the event requires you to rez the dead in order to finish it, then farming without rezzing is exploiting the event.

When deciding if something is an exploit, consider these questions.
Does it seem to good to be true?
Would your friends/other people consider this to be an exploit?
Does it provide you with an unfair advantage over other players?
Could this be the result of a bug introduced with a recent update or new feature?
Does this seem like something that could be reasonably considered to be intended by ArenaNet?

If someone is taking advantage of a bugged or unending event then that’s considered an exploit and can lead to a ban.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exploit
An exploit is the misuse of a software feature or bug in a way that allows a player to generate in-game benefits without the risk or time expected by the game’s designers. It can involve the use of a third-party program and it includes generating currency, experience, or other things of value to players. It also includes actions that allow one player to gain a gameplay advantage over other players.

ArenaNet will temporarily suspend players for using exploits deliberately and permanently suspend those who purposefully and repeatedly make use of them, depending on the severity of their actions.

ArenaNet defines an exploit as any deliberate action that provides an unfair advantage over other players or otherwise hurts the game, community, or economy, it does not matter whether the exploit is a hack or making use of a bugged mechanic within the game. To be considered for a ban, players must deliberately exploit the mechanic; use of hacks or bots is always assumed to be deliberate. In addition, players that publicize an exploit are also subject to suspension of even banning, regardless of their motives, since well-publicized exploits require ArenaNet to react immediately to prevent the abuse, which diverts resources away from the rest of the game."

Hmmm. I know it’s mostly medium armor that has them, but the masks that males wear don’t make them bald. They remove beards, but the character’s don’t go bald. If they can do it with armor, why not costumes?

Must be a hit and run Mesmer. Comes in, tosses Confusion into the forum, which hits multiple targets, then runs off.

I think I read they have one person whose job it is to keep tabs of Guild Wars 1. You could always contact him/her to discuss this. Maybe even talk about them selling it to an interested group of people.

Of course a new company would make you rebuy the whole game in order to access your old account. People should think about the old saying, “Be careful what you ask for. You might get it”.

No, they sell GW1, you no longer have your old account. Simple as that. It’s also a business decision. They’re not going to give personal data to some random company they decided to sell their game to. Pretty sure that’d violate some laws as well if they did.

I tried to look that up. The closest I could come was City of Heroes, where the sale fell through. There was nothing that said whether old accounts would be accessible or not. The only personal data that, off hand, I can think would be a problem would be credit card information and account login. Even so, it would seem that there could be a way for people to ok the transfer of sensitive information in order for accounts to be transferred or made accessible.

But either way, transfer of accounts or not, the new company would likely either require the game being rebought or subscription fees to pay for the purchase.

Hell, I’M so old that I remember a time where you had to program your OWN games from a book because floppy discs and cassettes weren’t reliable enough to store data on yet.

I remember punching holes in cards to program the games. (That was a pain). >.>
