Rezzing and harvesting definitely freeze my chars on place. There have been a number of times that I’ve died while trying to rez someone. I can spam hitting the dodge button and nothing happens.
I’ll have to try the switch weapons trick. I wonder if it needs to be done right before the dodge or can be done proactively to ready my char for a dodge.
Yeah largely depends if you want it on all characters and with the stats it comes with (if you cannot choose the actual stats) do remember this is an ascended back piece! so if you don’t have access to those on other characters, and you can pick the stats you like on it… then you obviously need all of them, and you can just apply another skin to this ascended back piece if you don’t want the vines on it…
Else 1 is enough, because the skin will be unlocked account wide, and you can just apply it to any character’s back piece you want…
Are you sure it’s ascended? I haven’t made one yet because I’ve been waiting for the prices on the craftable parts to drop but the wiki says it’s exotic, and only available with Nomad’s stats.
Even if it is ascended an exotic back piece with useful stats is better than an ascended one with stats you’re not going to use.
Dulfy said it will progress, but not how.
http://dulfy.net/2014/07/29/gw2-mysterious-vine-backpiece-guide/
Mysterious Vine Backpiece
This is the only the first iteration of the backpiece. You will be able to build on it with The Dragon’s Reach Pt2 update, whenever that arrives.
It may be only a cosmetic progression to different looks or it may be to a final ascended backpiece. At that points, it’s another question about the stats, whether they will be nomad or the ability to pick what you want, one time. If it is a final ascended backpiece that you can chose the stats for, then it’s well worth having all those ingredients. But no one knows at this time.

Np. good luck to your friend getting this resolved.
Depends on how many backpieces you are planning to make. If you are going to make one for each, save. If not then delete.

You don’t say how long ago you created your ticket and how long ago it was that you got your response from support. Any answers depend on this information.
If it’s been at least 24 hours since you got a response, check this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Not-Getting-Our-E-mails-Hotmail-Yahoo-Gmail-Comcast
If it’s not an email problem and it’s been it’s been 3 days or longer since you got a response, you can post in the above stickied thread, tickets for review-3 days and older.
If it’s been less than 3 days, then it’s still in process and you should wait a while longer.

Random NPCs in the game hand out quests (events in this game).
- If an NPC runs up to you and wants to talk, he has an event for you to do.
- Look for orange circles on your mini map
- Look for NPCs with orange icons over their heads, either basket icons or orange star bursts. Those are event sites.
- If an NPC has a name, s/he is usually one that can give out an event. Most events have a follow up event. After you finish one, wait a bit. See what the NPCs say. Unless that was a finishing event, after a few seconds they will start another one.
Have those two items in your inventory (not equipped). Speak to a Black Lion Weapons Specialist (by a Trading Post in any racial city or Lion’s arch). That NPC can exchange a soulbound harvesting tool for an account bound one.
Sometimes when I’m lagging the computer will think I’m in two places at once. If I’m on a high up ramp, my “other self” can run off the ramp and die. (I can’t see this other self, but if I have mini out it will be next to where it is). When it dies, I die. So I will be dead on top of the ramp but my rezz site is on the ground below. In order to be rezzed by someone, I have to talk in chat. They can see my chat bubble coming from a spot on the ground, if they go over there, they will get a prompt to resurect me. When they rez me from that site on the ground, my char up on the ramp will heal and get up.
It’s my new way to play, “you’re warm, warm, you’re cold, warm, Hot!”
(And yes, I’ve reported it as a bug, for what that is worth).

This sort of thing makes me question the amount of thought that was put into the layout of nodes. I’ve read in the forum that some Slyvari nodes were put near the instance borders or a distance away from the other nodes. A tree put on top of a skillpoint, close enough for interaction problems.
Who would put a node on top of a skill point? Did no one run through at the end and look it over, check for interactions and to make sure each instance was relatively the same? It really makes me wonder about the level of their quality control and a desire to do a good job.
While they have an interesting snowflake animation the weapons themselves look more like a child’s toy made of wood. This limits their appeal and low appeal means low demand. So I would say the answer to your question is, they will be rare skins that very few want.
That saying, I have both the shortbow and the shield. My ranger is still using the shortbow and the only reason I don’t use the shield is because I have no use for it.
You will have to discuss this with support.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exploit"
An exploit is the misuse of a software feature or bug in a way that allows a player to generate in-game benefits without the risk or time expected by the game’s designers. It can involve the use of a third-party program and it includes generating currency, experience, or other things of value to players. It also includes actions that allow one player to gain a gameplay advantage over other players.
ArenaNet will temporarily suspend players for using exploits deliberately and permanently suspend those who purposefully and repeatedly make use of them, depending on the severity of their actions".
———————————————————————————————————-
If people are failing events (features) to get ingame benefits (loot) which is more than what the Devs expected from this feature, then it’s an exploit. It is expected that the event run to its scripted conclusion and end. Not run while people purposely avoid the scripted ending and farm loot in excess expected for that event.
They have spelled out the rules, don’t exploit. They have said that exploiting is misusing features of the game. They have banned people in similar situations. What more does anyone need?
They will never spell out specifically what not to do. They never discuss ongoing exploits. For one thing, this gives too many people ideas on how to exploit. A fair number of people are like 2 year olds. You tell a 2 year old, “don’t stick beans up your nose” and it gives him ideas he never thought of before. In addition, if they spell out what not to do, people find something new that ANet didn’t think of then argue that it’s not covered.
If you see something that looks like an exploit, report it. Don’t join in.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-09-27-guild-wars-2-preview?page=3
“Eurogamer: How are you handling endgame loot – will we be farming bosses?
Colin Johanson: Everyone, including casual gamers, by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on an equal power base. The rare stuff becomes the really awesome looking armours. It’s all about collecting the unique looking stuff and collecting all the other rare collectable items in the game: armour pieces, potentially different potions – a lot of that is still up in the air and we’ll finalise a lot of those reward systems as we get closer to release. And those come off of things like the bosses at the end of dungeons – the raids."
Best statistical loot = BIS where I come from.
I suspect stuff like this is also part of the reason why Arena.net has backed off on this sort of candid discussion. I mean, read that interview… it’s a candid statement of intent… it’s what they WANTED to do. It wasn’t a promise. It’s what they even TRIED to do.
And then they went live… and it apparently didn’t work. Too many players didn’t buy into it. They wanted that power creep. They wanted that grind. And when they didn’t get it, they quit.
So Arena.net had to change course. It wasn’t a broken promise though, and a lot of the toxicity could have been avoided if players hadn’t twisted intent to make it one. We players ALSO have a responsibility to the environment we fester.
The toxicity doesn’t stem from the change in direction. It stems from the fact that, when ANet announced ascended gear, they denied they ever made this statement in the first place. They claimed ascended gear had always been their intention. Stop trying to blame the players here.
^ this.
ANet could have avoided so much controversy if they had gone to the forums/Reditt/whatever and said something like this, “we originally had exotics as BIS, however we feel now that it’s best for the game if we put in another higher, optional level of gear for those that wish to get it”. Then maybe given reasons why it’s better for the game.
Instead they said that ascended had been planned for the game since day one, which is hard to believe as it’s not something that the casual gamers are likely to have as a full set, or even a partial as getting ascended weapons. Many of my guildies don’t even have one ascended weapon yet.
I also remember seeing a quote where they were surprised at how easily and quickly people got full exotics.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Yes and no.
Yes, technically speaking but if it’s a one time thing with only a few people then even if reported nothing will happen. For one thing, intent has to be shown and that can’t be easily done here with one incident. So for a few people and a one time thing, no.
When it leads to suspensions/bans is when there is an event, it’s repeatedly failed and there are large numbers of people doing it. The best recent example is where there were 2 servers with a number of people farming linen. http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1txukz/massive_linen_jute_farmer_bans_last_night/
We will get a massive amounts of posts about how much the GIFT sucked of course.
Imo, the number of posts expressing displeasure about the first year birthday gifts are because it feels so much like ANet just “dialed them in”.
1) birthday booster: either broken or incorrect tool tip. It says you get 100% karma boost for 24 hours. You don’t. This was pointed out very soon after people got this booster. Did ANet quickly fix it, either by putting in the karma boost or editing the tool tip? No. After a year, after multiple posts in general discussion and the bug forum, has this been fixed? No.
2) same mini for every char that you have. Most people have a minimum of 5 chars. A large number of people have a full set of 8 professions. There are many people with more than 8. What does this imply about ANet? It didn’t occur to them that giving people 5 or more identical minis for their birthday looks, idk, dialed in? It occurred to them but they were indifferent? How hard would it have been to take some care, make a set of birthday minis? They could have used the birthday minis from Guild Wars 1. That would have been special and thoughtful. Or they could have sent one Jenna to each account if that was too much trouble.
3) the 20 level scroll, after a year most people have already gotten all the professions they want to use and most are level 20 or above. In addition there’s no apparent prospect of even one new race or profession. Truthfully it has the feel of gem store on it. To use this, most will have to buy a character slot from the gem store.
People can tell when presents are given with little thought or care. It really felt like it was a bother for them to do this. That they felt like they had to do it because it was expected by so many but their heart wasn’t in it so they dialed it in.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Some areas are darker at night than others. The Fields of Ruin are noticeable darker at night that most of the other areas. If ANet could match that area that would be great. It’s dark enough on that map that it’s obviously night without being so dark that people are likely to complain about it.
Some of the home instances are better than others, for sure. They may fix the layouts since they are getting complaints about the new gem store portal, but who knows when.
However, you can go to the other home instance instead. For example, my Sylvari can go to my human home instance and get the nodes there. I know that if you have at least one of the other races, then any of your chars can go inside and harvest.
Now If you don’t have other races this may not be possible. It may require you to have at least one member of that race, or it may not. I’ve never read one way or another. I suspect you can and that it doesn’t matter but I have all 5 races and no way to check.
Hogwash. My very reliable sources tell me that this is a real, undoctored rendering of the final encounter with Mordremoth.
This is reliable proof that they are bringing SAB back and the final boss battle will be in there. To get to him will require jumping your intrepid band of bionics to him, across the different SAB sections till you reach him. He will be guarded by a horde of Monkey Kings flinging, ummmm, stuff.
Be sure to bring condition clears for when you are knee deep in monkey fling, you are going to need it.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
ANet doesn’t normally fix players mistakes. You can always contact support to ask but from previous responses the answer will be no.
Don’t assume.
They changed the sigils a couple of months ago. Now to keep the stacks permanently you need one on your land weapons and one on your water weapons. If you only have one on your water weapons and go on land you will lose the stack. Same if you only have one on a land weapon.
The stacks used to be permanent in a zone unless you were downed/killed. The reason for the change was, people used to get a stack and then switch weapons to something with another sigil. This was a balance problem and so the Devs changed it so that if you unequip your weapon with the sigil, you lose the stack.
When you leave the water and go into the land, your helm switches to your land helm and your weapons to your land weapons. Apparently the game considers this to be the same as unequipping your water set and equipping your land set. Since you unequipped the water weapon with the sigil, if your land set doesn’t have that sigil, you lose the stack.
If you only have a one on your spear and are keeping it for a while when you go from water to land, then that might be a bug.
Perhaps you have some corrupted files and need a client repair.
Support-top of page. Then in the search box, search for client. (Repairing the game client).
My lvl 35 mesmer is now wearing Vigil pants, Whispers coat, and the starter necro mask. Things that were previously level, order, or profession restricted. It looks awful, but I used (wasted) the transmutation charges just to make sure it COULD be done, before I started complaining about it. Yes, it can be done. No, it doesn’t seem right.
I like the overall concept of the new wardrobe change… but some of the changes kinda suck. I don’t like that characters can access higher level skins at level 1, or wear armor from all 3 orders at once. It makes zero sense; doesn’t align with the idea of different factions and story lines within the game. For me, it’s a continuity problem and these “wardrobe malfunctions” add yet another feature to the game that ruins the rp aspect of GW2. I’ve already felt like this game is less immersive than previous MMOs I’ve played; I don’t feel like I am the character so much as I have a hand up her back puppeting her. Which is unfortunate, but it’s still a great game and I have fun exploring so whatever and I just keep doing my thing. But there are getting to be tooooo many things that there are shortcuts for or that ruin the inner logic of the game.
I am absolutely behind the idea of unlocking skins for armor you can buy on the marketplace, or for allowing you to have a gem store skin set unlocked account-wide and be re-useable (after all, those armor skin sets are not cheap). But for things that are story-specific — like Order armor, or starter items such as necro mask — this does not make sense. You should still have to earn access to order merchants, and only be able to wear armor belonging to your order.
Snip
You could always transfer items across professions and orders and across levels before the wardrobe. This is nothing new. It’s something that could be done since launch.
Before the wardrobe I put my Norn necro facial tattoos on my Charr ele and my Charr ele’s flame eye, I put on my Sylvari Mesmer. People commonly got items from one order and gave them to another char in another, or no order, to use.
To do it, you got the item, used a Transmutation stone or crystal. You transferred the skin to a low level white piece of gear. This broke the soulbinding and made it account bound. You then put it in the bank. You other char picked it up, transmuted it to it’s own piece of gear and then you had a char with gear from different orders or professions. This had to respect the profession types, light to light for example, and cultural armor restrictions but otherwise allowed switching between professions, races, orders and levels.
So what you dislike here has nothing to do with the wardrobe system.

Sort of depends which you prefer, playing with those friends or playing with your WvW friends. While ANet has increased the server caps in the past, it’s been when they had several full servers. There is no telling if or when this will happen again but it’s not likely to be soon.
One other option, buy a second account and have it on a different server. When they aren’t on you can play on your original server.
I understand in certain countries there are rules against harming/killing children in video games.
As a puppy refers to a dog below a certain age and a foal to a horse, a child refers to a human. She is not a human so she is not a child, she is a progeny. Technically speaking then, human laws don’t forbid harming/killing her.
Yes. I have 2 personal guilds. Both with a 50 slot vault and separate sets of influence.
You can be a member of up to 5 different guilds at one time. If you are the sole member of a personal guild and leave it, it and it’s upgrades, influence and guild vault with items are gone forever.
Might read this thread. It’s a year old but has a Dev giving ways to fix.
I used to average pretty close to 20% until they changed the chests to the current method. Currently i’m 0 for 10 on scraps since the chests changed.
That’s why I was curious to start this thread. When people say “RNG is RNG” it ignores the fact that RNG is based on coding which may not exclusively be RNG.
My expectations on this are, if historically it has averaged ~20% and if they say it’s doubled then it should be ~40%. (25 keys to get a ticket as opposed to 50 keys). But again, there can be so much variation around the average that for most people it may take the full ~25 keys to average out to the 40%. And when I say RNG is RNG I mean that some will get a ticket in much fewer keys and some will take much more.
Any information on a thread like this is too anecdotal, although interesting and of some use. It will be of more interest to see the new drop chances as reported on the wiki.

Hmmmm. Ok. I’ve never heard of this problem bring mentioned before and it’s pretty strange. As far as I can tell, in spite of it having barred doors, it’s not a separate part of the map and shouldn’t have any way to port you out.
It does however and I had it happen too. You’ll get an NPC saying “What are you doing in there?! We’re going to escort you out!” or something along those lines.
Well, that makes more sense, that there is an NPC that ports you out rather than some unknown mechanism that kick you off part of a regular map. I guess I either always avoided him or it was after a completed event.

Well, i ask because one of my guildies said about his friend who has friend (:D) with 800k+ gold but he can’t have more than 450k gold on one account…
ANet has never said and If there is, it’s probably pretty high. No one has come to the forum to complain about hitting a gold limit and there are many people who are rich, at this point in the game some must be very rich.
This answer from a year ago was talking about karma limits per account but it could also be applied to gold limits. thread
Since it is a 32-bit application, the largest unsigned number that can be used is 2^32 or 4,294,967,295 (0 counts are the first number). If it is less than that, a cap has been placed on it.
4.294.967.295 = 429 496 Gold 72 Silver 95 Copper
Maybe that’s the Gold limit ?
429,496.72.95 gold?
That’s pretty close to the above post where he said a friend of a guildie hit a limit at 450k gold. However without any facts, this is all idle speculation. (Shrug).
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Hmmm. Maybe one “mini” token per account. You take this token to a birthday NPC and can choose one mini off of a list he has. They can be a brand new set, just for birthdays. The mini chosen is account bound. Each year you get one chance to get one.
double of 0% is still 0%
What? The chance to get a scrap is not 0% it’s 20%
that clearly can’t be right, as i have opened almost 100 chests since i started this game (all of the keys earned from map complete, random drop, or story instance, before anybody says i spent way too much), and have gotten not ONE ticket scrap or full ticket. yes, the rate is more than 0%, i was just exaggerating, but it isn’t that much more
On average it’s ~20%. But that’s the average over time over numerous chests. Any one person can open 100 chests and get nothing while a second person gets 40 scraps from that many. As they say, RNG is RNG.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chest/Drop_rate Here it shows a 25% drop rate for scraps. 347 scraps out of 1373 chests (at the time of this writing). This may be higher than the historical average which ran closer to the 20%

Each time I’ve gotten it was when the event wasn’t running.
Get on the cliff line starting from the SW part of that cluster of buildings/boats. Run along it till you get to the vista. Get the vista. Jumping down from there lands you in front of that boat. Go in and down to the skill point.

The boosters were ok. Kind of utilitarian, sort of like getting socks for your birthday, but ok. The level 20 scrolls, only for brand new characters, were O.o to me. At one year with no prospects of new races/professions they were ummm ok. thanks. maybe I can use them someday (shoves in inventory to collect dust). The 12 Mini Jenna’s were a trip to crazy land. (Gets 12 Jenna’s as 12 separate gifts from the same person, back away slowly saying, “thanks but I got to go now. Nice talking to you”).
I’m hoping that ANet will do something better this year. One mini per account would be fine. It could be tied to the account’s birthday if it’s a coding problem. If it’s leveling scrolls, make them 20 levels at any level, not just starting characters. If it’s birthday boosts, how about fixing the karma thing on them? Either making that work or removing the tool tip. (And I consider that strange too. Give something that has a broken/missing part to someone on their birthday and a year later it’s still not fixed).
It does sound like you were hacked if a foreign IP was used and your account was played and it wasn’t you.

we had those terrible bunies in gw1 remember the ts session when me and my friend came across them the first time. it was like look at the bunny awe there another lets see all the bunnies then at bottom wtf they are killing me. then it was darn bunnies
I don’t recall saying darn bunnies. I’m pretty sure it was some other words, several of them.
And then later I found an unsuspecting guildie and showed him the nice bunnies. ^^
When someone gets a sudden ban for botting but haven’t been playing for a while, they were probably hacked and the hacker was using their account.
So, first thing you need to do is run a security check on your computer. After your computer is clean, change the password on your email in case they have gotten into that.

Ehm guys maybe I read wrong, but isn’t the chance increase only through 11 to 12’th of this month?
It’s worded kind of vaguely imo. From yesterday’s update thru the 11th to the update on the 12th.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/double-black-lion-claim-ticket-chances/?utm_source=client
Now through August 11, every Black Lion Chest has double the normal chances to drop a Black Lion Claim Ticket or Black Lion Ticket Scraps! Scraps can be converted into Claim Tickets, which are used to purchase our exclusive weapon skins from Black Lion Weapons Specialists. Act quickly – this deal only lasts until the release on August 12! Keys are available in the Black Lion Trading Company Gem Store.
Sooo, thru the 11th until the update on the 12th. (Why not just say till the update on the 12th if that’s what they mean) >.>
There are Risen bulls. Why not Risen Bunnies? Bunnies have a right to be undead too.
Thank you very much for the help guys.
And btw , if is best to start on Nightfall , how can I play as an Ritualist?
You would need to start in Factions (Cantha) as a Ritualist. When you get to the point where you can get to the other campaigns you travel to the Nightfall campaign (Elona) and go from there.
From Cantha: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Elona
Take the quest Sunspears in Cantha from Imperial Guardsman Linro in Kaineng Center.

I strongly doubt that you are the first turret person to be DC’d while doing that event and you won’t be the last. It’s notorious for causing people to DC. All those people in one map, particle effects, etc….
It probably didn’t fail and whether or not it failed, there is a good chance either they didn’t notice you were gone or if someone did notice, your position was filled by someone else.
If you ever remember the commander’s name you can message him. Other than that, let it go. It happens.
There is more than one type of golem banker.
The one you bought is probably this one: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Banker_Golem_
It’s 500 gems, account bound and reusable. You get only one per purchase.
What you may be confusing it with is the golem banker from the digital deluxe upgrade.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Digital_Deluxe_Upgrade
That upgrade is 2000 gems. With it, every new character gets a golem banker which is soulbound, reusable and lasts 2 weeks.
I’ve farmed something like 10 keys today and I’ve gotten 2 scraps, RNG is still crap RNG. Of course overall(hundreds/thousands of keys) I would probably see an increase, but who knows.
^
Pretty much, if you are one of the unfortunate people who opens up 50 chests and get one scrap you might not feel it’s been increased by much.
But on average, if it took 50 keys before this, then on average it will take 25. That’s still a fair number of keys.
One thing you didn’t say and which makes a big difference, are you doing key runs, buying with real money or buying with ingame gold. To answer your question you need to specify.
