Your calculations, to be accurate, should also factor in the cost in gems of the non ticket items you get per key, 3 items. Let’s say 50 keys to make the math easy.
[warning: this is a very rough estimate, it’s just to get ranges]
One booster: we’ll say 120 gems.
One express ~ 50 gems. Frequently get 2
(Unusual items: ~one in 50 runs or so. (Hair kits, mini packs, black lion salvage kits, etc..) Say ~ 300 gems. Not going to calculate these in. But I regularly get one or two items worth 300 gems in every set of 50 keys. There are also other items that drop, several times in a 50 key set. They are not calculated in either as RNG is high).
So. Let’s say 50 keys, the very minimum you might get.
50 × 120 gems/booster=6000 gems
50 x (2 chances/key) x (50 gems/express)=5000 gems
Total so far, 50 keys: 11,000 gems
Currently spidy says 100 gems costs 13.83 gold to buy.
(11,000/100) x 13.83= 1521.30 gold
Then let’s say you got one ticket out of the 50 runs, you sold the weapon skin for 80 gold
Total value received for the 50 keys ~ 1601 gold. (Minimum, as it doesn’t factor in the larger gem value items)
So, is it worth it? If you do key runs that comes to items valued (currently) at ~ 32 gold for each 20 minute key run.

The big events could use some tweaking.
I was doing a farming run thru Frostgorge. One ori node was right by one of the jormag fight places. I ran to it, got the node then rezzed two people who were downed and ran off to finish my farm run. I didn’t hit any mobs or hit Jormag. When the event ended I got a chest on my UI plus an event medal, so I ran back to the site of the big chest and there it was. I was able to open it and get my reward, just for rezzing 2 people.
As wiki says:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fiery_Dragon_Sword
As of 6/23/14, this is the only non-legendary weapon skin that has a base damage type of “Fire Damage”. This is unrelated to Burning and has no effect on combat mechanics.
Specifically, its only effect will be changing strike effects of certain skills to those caused by fire-themed skills, and death animations of creatures defeated with this weapon to look as if there were defeated by burning or fire-themed skills.
In other words, the fire damage is only cosmetic and is therefore illusionary. You may use this information when roleplaying to explain why it doesn’t actually burn things.
As to changing how it looks in game, this would annoy the many who like it. Which is most of the people who wield it.
When I see the GW2 client patching, the first thing I do is go to the forums and read the patch note. Very weird when there aren’t any. ANet is usually quite thorough with them (some stealth nerfs aside).
I think it’s because they messed up on the dates that the double chance for the tickets ends. They have one date on the launcher and 2 other dates on the announcement. They must be editing, or something.
Lol. I saw that. Needs editing. You could make an argument for each of those times really. Just have to wait for it to be corrected.
Here is something I just found
Probably the most annoying thing about this game is that… every name is practically taken. This has led to people using accent marks in names, the problem with this though is a lot of people do not know how put them on so they find another player for parties, dungeons, etc. So here’s to hoping that this gets sticky’d so people can learn how to use them or, at the very least, be able to quickly look up the letter here. There are two sets I am putting up.

While he should get an auto response pretty quick acknowledging the ticket, a first response from a person can take 24 hours. The time varies depending on how busy they are. He might get a response within a short time.
He can read this thread not getting our emails just in case it’s an email problem and not a hacker.
If that’s not it he should run a security sweep of his computer if he hasn’t already done so. After that he should change the password on his computer’s email, in case the hacker got into that.
And now until the next Living story update, August 11th, double your chance you get a ticket.
Lol. I remember back before this game came out, explaining to guidies in Guild Wars 1 about how you run around in a circle while using skills.
“Look! You run around like this!” (Runs in a circle). Guildie: “Oohhhh”
Now, when I try to play Guild Wars 1, it’s so hard to stand in one place while fighting. I keep breaking my skill’s casting to move.
I guess a weeks worth of key running is in my immediate future.
Ah, I misunderstood the question then. And I had checked and didn’t see any update notes. It’s a little unusual to have a new build so late in the 2 week cycle.
Probably bug fixes I would think. No doubt they will post the information in a while.
Edit: the launcher does talk about double black lion claim ticket chances. It says thru August 14th on the launcher but the link says August 11. It also says, on youtube points of interest episode 4.

Buy at least one extra character slot and designate that one to yourself as your trial slot. You can then make, try out and delete to your heart’s content.
If you want, you might buy 3 others also. Make a full set of professions as your permanent set and play them when not playing your temporary character. Sooner or later you are likely to slow down in deleting chars as you try out everything you can think of.
The next patch day is August 12. The previous was July 29th. It’s every 2 weeks.
I cant be bothered to edit stupid details.
Also it wasnt a random stranger, but I am not going to mention any names.
Well, no big deal. I completely believe you and your story of some unnamed stranger who told you something otherwise unproven and with no other collaborating sources over wiki and it’s sources drawn from many people over time, who are able to check each other and correct mistakes.
Have a nice day.

I guess the shrinking inventory that he is talking about is when you open it up and it has gone to its smallest size. You have to grab a corner and pull the inventory to a larger size again.
This started a while back and seems to happen at random times. Has nothing to do with Cursed Shore or any particular map.
Really nice job, especially using the that helm, the rope tie in the middle and the shoulders.
The next patch will probably give us a way to ascend it so we can live the full PHIW dream of FULL ascended NOMADS!!!!!!111!!!11!!1
Well, the Spinal Blades had an option to select your stats, so here’s to hope that the final version of this will have the same.
If not, fill up the wardrobe some more.
I’m kind of thinking that the new backpiece we are making now with the living story will become ascended, like the Spinal Blades one. If so that might be the easiest.
Yeah but that would probably be nomad’s stats, which are pretty terribad.
I hope they release an awesome planty looking melandru backpiece soon.
They allowed the Spinal Blades to select the stats at exotic level one time before it was finished. I am hoping they will do this again, or at least with an ascended version.
I’m kind of thinking that the new backpiece we are making now with the living story will become ascended, like the Spinal Blades one. If so that might be the easiest.
Id say the Wiki is more likely to be wrong, since its also made by players and not by Anet
Yes I agree you are right about this. It’s much more likely to be wrong than some random stranger who told you something different being wrong.
Perhaps you should edit it and make it correct?

Guild Wars 1 doesn’t have display names (the Eisig in your case). It will only have an email and password (and a character name to type in) at login. One you link the 2 together, your Guild Wars 1 login will be the same as your Guild Wars 2 login (the email and password) no matter what you originally chose for it. It will still require a character name at login.

Getting these achievements requires you to buy and play Guild Wars 1 to earn them. This is a completely different game than Guild Wars 2.
You have to first buy one at least one of the games, such as Prophesies, Factions or Nightfall, and also buy the expansion Eye of the North.
Once you have at least those 2 you should be able to link your Guild Wars 1 account to your Guild Wars 2 account.
I use a combination of a movement key, (WASD or whatever set of keys you use) and guiding with the mouse. You simultaneously hold down the mouse left click and a key that you use to strafe.
So, for example, use A to strafe left and while holding down the mouse left click, guide your character in a circle.
May I suggest you watch the video. It’s about movement in Guild Wars 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUKWeaXZeOY
He recommends spending a few minutes circling this way around a fixed object and I think that’s a good way to start out.

If they are going to sell gem store items targeted towards the home instances then the instances have to have equivalent services. Back before they had any new items to add to the instances no one went there, so no one cared if one race had nothing and another race had several NPCs that provided services.
If someone only has Asuran characters then they are being shortchanged and not getting full value of this gem store item as compared to the other races.
It’s an easy fix for ANet. Just give each instance the same set of NPCs.
Yes, pretty sure it was given out on selected pvp events (eg PAX winners?)and also by fansite competitions.
Pretty sure, but not positive?
Way to be nitpicky
Well I was backing up what I said with sources so I was thinking you could too. But if not… I guess that’s nitpicky.
But no doubt you are right and some PvP events that were not in-game (and thus not really a part of gw2) and were only temporary, gave this mini. I’m sure that you are right now, even though wiki does not show this, you were unable to provide sources and since it’s impossible for that guy who sold one to you to have been mistaken/lying.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
I’m expecting it to change in appearance as this season goes along and to also, at some point, have the ability to become ascended. Much like the way the spinal blades progressed.
So I would keep leftover materials at this point, unless you need gold now and don’t mind possibly refarming the same items later.
Here is a leaked picture where Mordremoth’s about to chow down on Kasmeer.
Cuz I’m a mean and green, and I am BAD!

Sometimes it doesn’t work, it has been bugged in the past. You do have to match it up 4 times, if you weren’t doing that.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tears_of_Itlaocol
“To solve the puzzle and open the gate, match the dot patterns on the cheeks by placing spheres on the corresponding pressure plates, starting with the left cheek pattern. Upon a successful match, the room will rumble and the torch to the left of the gate will light up. Repeat for the right cheek pattern to light a torch to the right of the gate. After lighting both torches, the patterns will change. Repeat the process for the next two torches and the gate will open.”
If you did all that and it’s still not working, you can try guesting to another server to get a different shard. To see if it’s different, type /IP in chat to get the map numbers to match up with.

It counts toward world completion (for those not aware). As my completion went from 100% back to 99% until entering the dry top region.
There is a new poi that counts now towards world completion. It’s in the area in Brisbane before the portal to dry top though, the Tangle Root outpost. That might have been what registered.
Was not until I killed the vines & entered into dry top’s first poi that my world achievement went back to 100%.
After you kill the vines you are still in Brisbane wildlands. It’s a new area they added to Brisbane called Tangled Root, and it has a new poi that belongs to that area. Dry Top doesn’t start till you go through the portal that is in Tangled Root. I suspect you were in this new area and thought that last, new poi in Brisbane was the first poi in Dry Top.
This I think is fairly easily checked. Run a different char there and bypass the new poi so it doesn’t register. Check the map completion level, go through the portal and see if map completion increases. My Ranger had 100% and I’m pretty sure he hasn’t been there. I can run him there and check later on today.

One, edit his email out. The email is half of his log in and is sensitive information.
He needs to contact support to change to a new email and switch over the confirmation to the new email. For that he does not need to log into the forum (it has to be that way otherwise people who are hacked/suspended/forgot password etc… would not be able to make a ticket).
Top of page-support. Top of page-submit a request.
If for some reason he can’t use the forum links, he can send an email to Support@guildwars2.com

“it can bring much more content like dung”
This is one of the times when adding on just 4 more letters (really, not that hard to type) makes a proposal easier to read. Because the first thing that comes to mind is not dungeon. That takes a second read. You want what you say to be clear and not have unfortunate second meanings.
Brisbane wildlands is another 15-25 level area. iirc, the portal to it is at the top NW corner of Kessex hills. Gendarren fields is a 25-35 level area that you can reach through portal in the NE corner of Kessex or through the northernmost portal in Lion’s Arch.

Op has a point. When you go through the home instance/city portal it should send you to the city, not back to wherever you came from. That’s either a bug or a design flaw.
For that much I doubt they would charge $10/800 gems. My guess that’s something like that would be priced at $60/4,800 gems, minimum. I could see 1 or 2 itms on the list being 800 gems.
I like the concept but don’t think the price would be anywhere near that, based on the type of prices they have for individual items on the list.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Why wouldn’t anyone use up any karma when they get it? It’s not like it goes bad if you use it or something. People are puzzling.
The same thing goes with the Basic Lumber Node Pack. You get it for 2000 gems, was it?
I did the math back then when it was released. Assuming you harvest all those 3 trees each day and each gets you 3 logs times their tp prices you have to harvest those three trees each day for a full year to get your gems back.
I mean what the …!? Running through the maps you can easily find four trees next to each other for free! Who does something like this?
It’s 800 gems, not 2000. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Basic_Lumber_Node_Pack
And as to who gets it, it’s probably the same people who bought the basic ore node pack, also 800 gems for copper, silver and gold nodes. I remember several posts then from people who bought it and were happy with the purchase.
“-first requires rebuilding Black Lion chests, so they become account-bound and they drop rate is a bit reduced. Every blc has time to open (7 days since drop) . People with sub can open unlimited ammount of blc without using keys”
I have about 300 chests at the moment. Buy the subscription, open all my chests. Drop subscription. Sounds good to me. ^^
I think it’s because the game assumes that you played the personal story to the end and were Commander of the group that killed Zhaitan. As a confirmed dragon killer you are important enough to lead this group.
Yes, pretty sure it was given out on selected pvp events (eg PAX winners?)and also by fansite competitions.
Pretty sure, but not positive?
However the point was that that the mini lama and the mini Mr Sparkles were not ‘pretty much the same situation’ as you said here:
I don’t feel like buying the gemstore minis anymore if I can’t have the full collection.
This sounds familiar. Sounds like mini Mr. Sparkles from a year ago.
Its pretty much the same situation.
As the Mr Sparkles was only obtainable then outside the game and the mini lama is obtainable inside the game. Which is what I was trying to say.
What makes you consider it the same situation? If one is only outside the game and at (maybe) selected PvP events that few could attend (and is no longer possible) and the other is from inside the game that all can try, I don’t see much that is similar.
Edit your post and put your ticket number on it so Gaile will have the information.
It could be a problem with the email system. Have him read this thread: Not getting our Emails, or he could have a hacker in his computer deleting the emails before he sees them.
If it’s not an email problem then he needs to check for a hacker.
1) have him run a full security sweep of the computer.
2) once he is sure the computer is clean, have him change the password to the email.
3) then update the ticket and look for a response from support.
If the email is unfixable or he can’t get rid of a hacker that’s gotten into his email, he should get a new email with a strong password. Then close out the old ticket and resubmit a new ticket using the new email.
You can post your ticket number in the above stickied thread, Tickets for review-3 days and older, for Gaile to give it one last review.
Not at this time, no.
ANet will change the names of offensively named guilds but you don’t get the chance to choose the new name.

Not quite. The mini Mr Sparkles was only available if you were able to go to certain conventions, most of them in Europe, during a certain time period. The lama mini is obtained by playing in PvP.
The Mr Sparkles was given out at pvp events, too. I bought mine from a pvp player who won it.
Could it? Wiki makes no mention of earning through PvP.

The miniature can be attained by using a Gem Store code.

Anniversary Bash(1)

(1)2013: Anniversary Bash
In celebration of the one year anniversary of the Guild Wars 2 launch, ArenaNet organized an event, the Anniversary Bash, during PAX 2013. Fans could attend to celebrate the anniversary with the developers, or to play the Super Adventure Box: Back to School release for the first time. ArenaNet also announced the Tequatl Rising release, showing off the revamped Tequatl the Sunless and the new LFG tool. Later, there was a developer panel and the finals of the Guild Wars 2 Invitational tournament. Players attending the event received a code for Mini Mr. Sparkles, a Guild Wars 2 backpack bag, and bandana."
Back 10 months ago when this happened there a were a number of threads about the mini Mr Sparkles. Such as this one, mr sparkles sold for $700. If you look it over you will see there is nothing about getting it in game by playing PvP. It was only available from game code cards or buying through eBay.
Perhaps you can link your source where it’s available from playing PvP. After all, that player could have gotten it from a code card and then sold it to you, claiming he got it from playing PvP.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Furthermore: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exploit
“ArenaNet defines an exploit as any deliberate action that provides an unfair advantage over other players or otherwise hurts the game, community, or economy; it does not matter whether the exploit is a hack or making use of a bugged mechanic within the game. To be considered for a ban, players must deliberately exploit the mechanic; use of hacks or bots is always assumed to be deliberate. In addition, players that publicize an exploit are also subject to suspension of even banning, regardless of their motives, since well-publicized exploits require ArenaNet to react immediately to prevent the abuse, which diverts resources away from the rest of the game.”
In other words, generating excess loot, especially when there are many players doing this hurts the economy. It brings in more loot than the game is supposed to generate and if done in high enough volumes, can cause those markets to be flooded and prices to crash.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exploit
An exploit is the misuse of a software feature or bug in a way that allows a player to generate in-game benefits without the risk or time expected by the game’s designers. It can involve the use of a third-party program and it includes generating currency, experience, or other things of value to players. It also includes actions that allow one player to gain a gameplay advantage over other players.
ArenaNet will temporarily suspend players for using exploits deliberately and permanently suspend those who purposefully and repeatedly make use of them, depending on the severity of their actions."
This is how I read it:
If people are deliberately not doing something that would end an event, such as rezzing dead NPCs where the dead NPCs cause the event to continue with killable mobs that drop loot, then they are misusing a feature that generates ingame benefits (loot) without the time expected by the Devs.
The Devs expected when they made this event (feature) that the NPCs would be rezzed and the event would continue to its natural end. If the players are not doing that then this is an exploit and is bannable.
