From my experience in Frostgorge, the shards last less than 24 hours. Even if you get the same IP after a couple of days, it’s likely to have collapsed at some point and the nodes rearranged. Even on one days farming run I’m likely to land on 2 or 3 separate shards.
Do the nodes tend to stay in the same places or move around? I’m trying to get back into making my legendary but this makes it even worse not knowing exactly where there are.
From my observations in farming FG daily on 9 chars, as long as a map has even one person on it it stays open and the nodes stay in place. Once the map completely empties out, it collapses. If/when it’s remade on that IP then the nodes will be in new places.
From what I can tell, I suspect that once the population on a map drops below a certain number then the Megaservers stop sending people there. Eventually the last person leaves and the map collapses.
This would mean that maps are constantly in flux, being made and disappearing. Which is why they don’t last longer than 24 hours and the apps are useless.

Since it might be awhile before ANet does anything as sensible as making party and guild chat permanent, try making a habit of friending the party leader.
In Guild Wars 1 you had a list available to you, somewhere on your UI, that showed all the people you recently partied up with. Why they didn’t keep this is one of the little mysteries of life.
The closest you can come while out playing is to open up your hero panel and then go to crafting. If you have the right type of crafting on your char you can see how many items you have. For example, if you have a crafting profession that uses iron, you can click on iron ingots, as if going to craft them. It will tell you there how much iron you have and how many ingots already.
It’s a clumsy solution and you have to have the proper crafting profession, but it’s better than nothing.
You can either “report” yourself (the flag icon on your post) and ask the moderator to close the thread or just wait. Eventually either it will fall off the front page or a moderator will see your original post is gone and close it.
It appears OP wishes the drop rate on Dawn, and one assumes all precursors, to be increased so greatly that the price collapses to 20 gold.
I have no idea how much that would take but ANet would practically have to give them to you just for logging on. I don’t think OP has thought this through and the likelihood of his wish happening hovers around zero percent chance.
Reading through all your messages, I am wondering now if Magic Find really works. I actually haven’t gotten a single exotic for quite some time… over 2 months already. Perhaps because I’m always in WvW?
Before account wide magic find I ran with zero magic find. Now I have ~130(something) magic find. Truthfully, while I do seem to be getting more rares, I haven’t noticed a difference in exotics from killing mobs (essentially close to zero). This suggests to me that the drop rate for exotics from drops is so low that magic find has to be very high, much higher than 130, to make a difference.

i got the same issues, i reinstalled my game after being away for a while. Reset my password because i forgot it. Now it keeps saying i have a incorrect username/password.

Approximately a day ago I decided to come back too after a long hiatus playing other games. I re-installed the game on a new computer and also could not log in. I could log in on the site but not the game. Same error code with “The account name or password you entered is invalid. Please check your information and try again.”
I put in a ticket, in which they gave me a link to change my password yet again. I had changed it 3 times previously but it would not change on the site. Now it is changing on the site, but WILL NOT change on the game. Talk about frustrating! Guess it is time to sit back and wait.
Are you sure you are using email and password? That’s the most common mistake, besides misspellings. Many people try to use their forum display name. It’s the same login as for this site.
I farm Frostgorge on an almost daily basis on my 8 characters and note down the IPs each day. From my experience each shard lasts at most 24 hours and if you go there near the Jormag event time you will land on completely new maps, which may persist for a while or empty out and disappear. Even if you go in between times it’s possible to land on 2 or 3 different maps in an hour or so.

Since so many people have bought multiple tools already, it may be too late for them to do something like this without losing a lot of money on refunds.
One option I’ve seen suggested is account wide inventory bags sold in the gem store. It would require buying one for each character but in it you could hold such items such as tools, food/nourishments, boosters or ascended weapons.
I have to stop reading this thread because it makes me extremely angry at the stupid RNG in this game. If it’s not broken… then I don’t know what broken is. One person gets 1 exo per HOUR. Others get them all the time too; one per day, several per week. Yet here I am, as are many others, barely ever seeing one in a month. And I kill mobs. Tons. High level. And do WvW. This is just … anger-inducing.
While my post made the claim of one every two weeks or so, I didn’t separate how I got them. As a drop from killing mobs, over the course of almost 2 years of playing daily, probably less than 5. Almost every exotic I’ve gotten was from champ bags or chests. The chests are either the ones spawned by killing Meta event bosses or the chests located around the world at jumping puzzles or other places.
I strongly suspect that this is true for most of the people posting here.

You’re right, I had forgotten. The area to the west there was actually more like centaur lands back then.
However if you look at the map http://zoom.it/cw31d Rata Sum is right under the Dry Top area. It wouldn’t be surprising if Asurans, especially the Inquest, have moved north and west of the city. Maybe the Inquest and the Centaur tribes there have allied against the other races.
I remember, when this game was still in production, reading what they would like to do with the personality system. They suggested, for example, that it would effect interactions with vendors. A charming person might get the occasional discount and a brute might get an option to punch the NPC.
I suspect that the things ANet wanted to do was hard hit by time and budget constraints. Since this system never really was put in besides some dialog options, it was abandoned in favor of other things they want.
Just to check, since it’s a common mistake, she is using email and password? Some people try to use the Display name (your Display name is Reeinoz for example). It will be the same login that is used for the forum.
If she is using the correct email and password then she will need to contact support. If she is a minor child who is too young to do this, you can fill out her account information for her of course. Contact support by support and submit a request- from the top of the forum page.

As someone that makes a living with random numbers, I can assure you luck does not exist. The two keys that came up as closely as they have would warrant investigation in real life. It is possible that a change to the tables has been made. I was simply trying to gather evidence.

Your starting post is close in type to the many posts by people who salvage a handful of rares, get less or more ectos than they expected, then make a thread wondering if there has been a change in the salvage rate. Those people have to have RNG explained to them. I guess I failed to see the part in your first post where you explained how you make a living with random numbers and are therefore aware of how it’s possible for one person to get 2 rare drops in a short period of time, without any changes to the drop rate being made. Or how, knowing random numbers as you do, it’s expected to see this sort of thing. My bad.
Hmmm. That was the accepted method of fixing this.
If it were me, I would try it one more time. Make sure you aren’t lagging and do not have both games on at the same time. They need to be logged on sequentially to catch a change in the HoM.

Try going into the Guild Wars 1 HoM and speaking to Kimmes. Toggle between his options, where you see your character’s progress and your account’s progress. Then log out and log into Guild Wars 2. See if that fixes it.
Hi, even if you blocked someone, he/she can still see you online. Will there be an option that being invinsible for the blocked people?
This has been a reported problem for quite some time. I think the first posts about it were shortly after the game launched.
If the person you block friends you and enables game messages in chat, the game will tell them when you log on and log off. They can also see, by checking their friends list, what map you are on and can see if you move to another map. By checking the leaderboards, they can tell what server you are on and if they wanted they could transfer there and be sure of being in WvW at the same time you are.
Friending should be mutual. Only 2 friends should know where each other is.

Yes, but I still suggest saving karma whenever possible. You will likely need it after LVL 80. Karma no longer falls from the sky like it used to.
True. But OP was specifically asking about cash, not karma. If you are not going to make a legendary or buy temple karma armor then there is plenty to use while leveling.
Leveling up jewelry instead of selling the mats will cost him gold. If he wishes to save both karma and gold, he could farm the mats for a specific set of jewelry and ask a guildie to craft them using those mats.
If you do not advance your Jewelry (one of the best crafts to do on your first character) so you can craft Jewelry at every 15th level (20, 35, 50, 65), then consider buying some green jewelry off the TP at those levels. The reason for this is the same reason it’s good to learn Jewelry as a craft first. There are no Jewelry drops in the game (as apposed to you being able to upgrade your armor and weapons from drops) and while you can get a few pieces from story missions, those are far and few between.

That’s something you noticed. It’s a coincidence. It’s not generic just because you happened to choose what the story uses. No one else is going to notice (unless you announce it in chat) or care. Go ahead and choose the profession combinations that make you happy.
Very nice screenshot and idea. It does however only allow for 2 builds. Although that’s better than what we have now, it’s still limiting. It does allow for a place to store armor and weapons not currently being used, which is a plus.
Maybe if the whole panel changed? Numbers/buttons somewhere where you could toggle a build and the whole panel switches to the set corresponding to that button. Since buttons don’t take up much room, there is space for more of them.

They would only do something like OP’s suggestion if leveling was so difficult for most people that something needed to be done. Even then they are much more likely to rework traits so people can trait earlier/easier. Since people can level just fine with masterwork gear, then the likelihood of them completely reworking ascended gear for this is around zero.
Now, in context, what he is talking about is killing mobs repeatedly in order to level. This is the old definition of grinding. The key defining sentence is, “We want to change the way that people view combat”. What people did then Is take that single sentence, ignore the surrounding sentences which define and give it meaning, then made threads and posts, ad nauseum, about how grindy the game is because they have to repeat content to get their rewards.
- That’s a very narrow definition of grind. Grind is repeating same (boring) actions for copious amount of time in order to get a reward. One example of grinding is killing hundreds of monsters to gain a new character level. Another example is completing a short dungeon path multiple times for finishing reward. Guild Wars 2 uses grind as means to extend the length of content to a great degree.
It may be a narrow definition of the word grind, but if a person is using a specific definition of a word and then says we don’t do this (the narrow definition), then that’s all you can hold them to.
People took the narrow definition that he specifically used, expanded it to the other definitions, and then complained that they broke their word. That is the point I was making. Whether or not grind has more than one meaning is irrelevant.
