ANet’s obviously reworked the daily system to encourage more people to try WvW and PvP.
Yes we all know that, and that’s the problem. Worse yet, “encourage” is playing it down. More like “force players” to try other game modes. And that solves absolutely zero of the complaints people had:
- People who complained about the number of daily achieve points because of their obsessive-compulsive mindset are still forced to spend time in PvE, PvP and WvW.
- Those of us who were content with just getting a quick daily set done now have to spend more time getting them done because of the lack of options.
- And PvP players are still often forced to play PvE or WvW to get their 5.
Which all goes to prove the point that the majority of posters on this thread have been trying to get across to Anet:
Give us back all our options, and keep the 10 achieve point cap.
Win win for everyone.
Give us back all our options, and keep the 10 achieve point cap.
YES!
Give us the options back but cap the number of achieves you can get at 10. A win win for everyone indeed.
This sort of thing could be eliminated if that poi showed on the world map.
Or if they removed that PoI.
But…… then there would be threads about ANet removing permanent content! ^^

Gaile,
As you stated, it does appear that the vast majority of recent account hacks have come from hacked email accounts. In light of this, has any consideration been given to altering the policy of blindly issuing change password requests that come in from legit email accounts? I fully understand this would inconvenience users that legitimatley want their password changed and may possibly cause more front end work for Support, but I have to believe that if this policy were changed (so that email requests would be redirected to the on-line ticket submission system….that ASKS for validation of the user info), Support’s need to handle hacked accounts would also VASTLY be reduced.
I get that email account security isn’t Anet’s responsibility, but in light of the rash of compromised player email accounts being used to hack GW2 accounts, the change just seems to make sense (for both players account security and Support workload standpoint).
Just asking if it is being considered.
Instead of making support authorize password changes, maybe add a security question. Even something as simple as mothers’s maiden name or name of first pet would stop an outsider.
https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new
This is the link to get to if you click on Support at the top of the page. Just select what you think fits from the various drop-down menus and write up the problem.
They aren’t going to refund influence spent like this. It would be too easily gamed since support can’t remove the influence used.
Someone buys a letter of influence. Applies it to their guild. Contacts support, claims they put it on the wrong server. Support gives them them another. Apply to same or different server. Guildie buy a letter of influence. Applies it to the guild. Contacts support, claims they put it on the wrong server. Support gives them another. Apply to same or different server. Another guildie buys a letter of influence……

This sort of thing could be eliminated if that poi showed on the world map.
Yah. The chantry of secrets has a poi that is past a portal, deep in the cave. It doesn’t show up on the world map at all. That one is frequently missed.
There is no logic in wasting money buying at a higher price than the lowest sale order. So why would you bother doing it? Because you dont like people who undercut? Well guess how the market got to those prices in the first place. There is no conceivable reason that is well-founded in logic and thought for someone to waste money. So anet’s not going to introduce what amounts to a waste of time, money, and effort. Expecting them to, or even continuing to suggest it, is beating your head against a brick wall that will not budge.
The part I highlighted is the part where I think OP’s argument falls apart. Normally there are a whole long series of sell orders, each one undercutting the previous one. Maybe it wasn’t just by one copper but they are still undercuts by people who could have chosen to match the previous price. Pointing out the last one and claiming its more immoral than any of the others is not logical. They all are undercuts and therefore by his reasoning, immoral.
@Lux
You said “I honestly don’t even know why thru put the limit on his much gold you can mail since they allow you to mail skins and weapons. I can mail my tormented weps (all worth more than 10g but I can’t mail 10gold”.
That would be another way to transfer gold, by sending items through the email for someone else to sell. Possibly an easier method than locating gem cards to give to someone else.
It’s just a thought. I can easily see people grouping up to take advantage of a windfall like a precursor if they are willing to wait to get the full benefit of it rather than one person selling for a few gold, like the first ones were here. I can also see groups of people buying precursors to make Legendaries as a group to sell as a group project.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
Maybe people are pooling resources both to sell and buy. If they do it as a group the initial outlay isn’t that bad and if they manage to sell its a good payoff. Much better than selling at a low price like people did at our start.
You can’t mail 10gold. I have managed to mail 1gold but 10 won’t work. Not sure if its because its because of pre launch or what.
That’s not to say your theory isn’t plausible. But I have my reservations about XXX people willing to pay 150+ gold just to list an item which may not sell for months. Sounds risky and difficult to convince that many people of an investment strategy.
Furthermore, there appear to be better investment opportunities, like tormented weapons which still only cost 1 BL claim ticket in China.
Although I must say, it really would be interesting if due to Chimese culture they started new and successful trade practices by pooling money together and investing that way. I’m not saying it hasn’t been done on NA/EU but its definitely not commonplace.
About the gold issue. Can someone buy gem cards and give them to amother as a method of transferring gold? Can they buy gem cards in EU or NA and use them on the Chinese gem store?
I know you probably don’t have the answers but they may have ways to get around financial barriers. If it’s a group of friends they might be willing to hold out for a payout in the future and be willing to trust each other with gifts of gem cards.
Maybe people are pooling resources both to sell and buy. If they do it as a group the initial outlay isn’t that bad and if they manage to sell its a good payoff. Much better than selling at a low price like people did at our start.
What I would like to know is, how did those people get those Legendaries so fast, if the release date was May 15th? Did people do all the map completions and get all the T6 mats in beta? All the karma that was needed and learning how to open the temple of Balthazar to get the obsidian shards. They did all that in the 8 days mentioned in a previous post?
If you’re talking about my post I was simply talking about precursors (sorry if my post was confusing). I may have missed where someone was mentioning legendaries.
I have been told that several players actually did full map completion before hitting lvl 80 in a couple of days. Seems difficult but possible.
That being said, I have not seen anyone with a legendary nor have I heard about anyone with one. I think obsidian shards would ultimately be the real time-barrier since everything else could theoretically be bought (minus the badges of honor, unless you consider buying titles like minipet, emperor, etc to get achieves to unlock more badges).
All of that aside, no legendary weapons have been listed on the TP to my knowledge.
K. Precursors only then.
Most likely then they weren’t put up with the expectation of being sold anytime soon. They would have access to prices on our TP and it’s likely they put them up to sell later when prices do reach that level. I’ve seen a number of posts where people mention selling precursors soon after launch for what now seems to be a really low price.

All the karma that was needed and learning how to open the temple of Balthazar to get the obsidian shards. Plus the time and gold needed to forge the precursors or get them as a (rare!) drop. They did all that in the 8 days mentioned in a previous post?

I doubt it was that person who whispered you. Support receives literally 1000s of tickets and reports each day. Each one has to be read and researched by someone and then a decision made. So it was probably reported several days previous to the forced name change. It certainly wasn’t 10 minutes before.
You can certainly appeal to support however the name is probably too close Logan’s. It’s possible they copywrited his name.
Just what the game needed, Zombie jumping puzzles. I have enough problems with the regular ones. >.>
Norns are just big humans hooked on “Spirit of the Wild” juice, anyways.
Just look at the Ossas, the Mad King, or Shiro, or Palawa Joko. Or every single Guild Lord in GW1.
Those were all humans once, and all freaking tall. Some taller than tall norn.
Turai Ossa could even stomp like giants. I don’t mean mimicking the move. The guy could actually do a Giant Stomp. And not like a warrior stomp, jumping with the whole body. A one-foot giant stomp, just like GW1’s giants and GW2’s fake giant cyclops posers that have just one eye, and no tusks or horns like real giants do. They better add real 2-eyed tusked minotaur-herding giants if they ever add the Crystal Desert map…
…
…what was I talking about?
Idk. But whatever you had, I want some of it.
I remember getting one when I bought the Collector’s Edition, but ever since the wardrobe came out, I haven’t been able to find it. Am I just SOL, or can i get this back?
If you dont possess the item still, you’re SoL. You wont be given skins in the wardrobe for items you no longer possess, even if you have an achievement tied to it.
Maybe not quite correct. This was a gemstore item and they have been known to replace these. I can see a couple of problems. The ones they replace were bought with real money and not gold. Since it was free there may not be records of “purchasing” it. The other is since it was so long ago and was a commemorative limited time item it’s possible it’s not something they can replace.
My personal suggestion to OP would be to first take every single character you have to the Black Lion Armor trader again, no matter is you are sure you did it. If it doesn’t show up and it’s not in your bank then make a ticket at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new and ask them.
Problem is I never had it on a particular character, it was in my bank space.
As I understand their blog post, items like this should unlock when you transfer it to a character’s inventory.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-wardrobe-system/
“Items that you acquire that are already bound to your account automatically unlock their skin when they go into your inventory. "
You didn’t say when you last saw this item. That’s an important point. Days before the patch? Months ago? If it was months ago then maybe you deleted it by accident. Perhaps you put it on a char and then deleted that char. If it was right before the patch that might be a bug.
My buddy got hacked & account got banned ....

Well kitten that kitten, I’m going to kitten any time I kitten well want to kitten.
The login connects to Austin, Texas but your game itself plays from the data centers in Germany if you have a EU version of the game. There is a glitch where sometimes the game reports that login server as your site.
An answer from Gaile from a previous thread on this issue: in this thread

“Hey folks, no worries. There are several routes through which you go to access the game or the forums, and I’m told the forum sometimes throws an access IP from Texas, but that’s you… or us… or you talking with us on the forums. So it’s all good.”

But what will they call the (currently in development) Kitten Finisher?

i did try to change my hotmail password but because i gave a false (just random) email dress as second email when i made the hotmail account, i have to wait 30 days before i can actually change it
if that makes any sencebut im sure to read trough the link karizee, but from what ive seen they propose the same solution as melanie did…and thats gonna take 3o days to kick in
is it possible to link my current gw2 account to a new email adress?
Not link, no. Change, yes.
To change your email you contact support at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new and fill out a ticket.
Well, two possibilities. Your computer is hacked or you have the “forget password” bug. Best to do a full security sweep of your computer and also check for a keylogger. After that I would change the password on your regular email.
The “forget password” glitch seems to hit some owners of iPads and iPhones. I read a theory that there might be another that hits people that have a corrupted email password. Apparently the problem is not on Guild Wars 2 side.
I use an iPad to access the forum and had a period of time where it was causing the game to forget my password on a daily basis. It stopped when I switched to an old iPad with an old IOS. Then the problem went away by itself.
Save your laurels for later. You can get earrings with guild commendation, if you have a guild, otherwise they are 40 laurels and 50 ectos each. If you use the WvW laurel merchants, amulets are 20 laurels and 250 badges and rings are 25 laurels and 250 badges each.
So one level 80 character will need 150 laurels, if they don’t use commendations to get ascended trinkets. If you can get commendations it’s 75 laurels.
Then there are the infusions, which are 20, 10 and 5 laurels each.
If you decide at some time you want to do ascended crafting, each weapon type costs 5 laurels. The armor also will cost you laurels for each piece.
I wouldn’t use laurels till I thought it over first and decided if I’m going to completely gear my character and if I’m going to do the same with alts.
(edited by Astral Projections.7320)
It’s no use contacting support and asking for a rollback. They only do that to fix hacked accounts that have lost characters, gold and items. They will not do it to replace an item.
As for your backpiece, that’s too bad. I never looked for it on the TP as I assumed from the description that it was account bound. It was meant to be so and ANet fixed a bug.
as this thread in structured PvP announced on April 18th
Mark Katzbach
Community Special Operations
After this week’s update, it came to our attention that the Balthazar back piece was not account bound when it went live and players have been selling it on the trading post.
This was not intended and will be fixed in the next hotfix. To prevent players from continuing to sell the item, it has been removed from the trading post. Existing orders and sells have been canceled and will be available in your pickup tab.
Since this was a mistake they made, perhaps put a thread up in the Discussion forum asking for them to send out another. It’s possible that they don’t have the tools to send people reward items, but you can ask.

Hey there, Cinderfang. What my friend Mr. (or is it Ms?) Llama said is absolutely and regrettably true: We have a few oddities with the Name and Word Filter that cause problems with perfectly acceptable names. It’s a goal of mine to polish that filter to an incredible level of filter-y sparkliness, but at this time, I’m not able to find out why some words are blocked.
It’s Mister.
Thanks for your reply, is there any chance that we can get “Llama” removed from the filter? It’s hardly an offensive term.
If we could, I would be most appreciative. Thanks for your consideration.
Not to mention we now have a Llama finisher in game…
It needs to be renamed Kitten finisher then.
First off, delete the emails. Those are half of your logins that hackers can use to get into your account.
Have you made sure your computer is secure? Checked for a key logger? If not, do that immediately. After that you can contact support at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new to change to a new email. I would suggest that you use a different one than the one you posted in this forum as it’s half of your login and a hacker might have seen it.

No, they can’t block an IP for you. Each person has to keep their own computer secure.
If you haven’t yet, run a security sweep. Check for a keylogger. Once your computer is secure change your email password. Then change your Guild Wars 2 password. After that it wouldn’t hurt to change your Guild Wars 2 email.
Here is the link to the feature pack that has a number changes to the game: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/feature-packs/
I think that’s a great idea. I would even say reduce them down to one ticket for a period of time. Let all who want one get one.
I will turn 50 this year, meaning I get my AARP card, Is there any discount on the BLTC for card carrying oldsters like myself?
Who the heck are you calling “oldsters” at 50?
AARP cards have been going in the trash can for the last 7 years when they show up at my house.
-Not interested in legendary walker or ascended dentures.
Ascended dentures on autoattack. Sounds like a balancing problem that would bite ANet on the butt.
No, it applies for free once. After that you have to use T charges. It will be in your wardrobe however so you can now use it on more than one character.
There are undoubtably people who can play with only one hand so there must be equipment for this. Maybe visit a computer store and see what they have or can order.
Is it me or do the jaws of the belt skull look… inconveniently placed?
Don’t bend over too fast or you’ll be having a belated Bar Mitzvah
Wouldn’t that be a belated Bat Mitzvah?
Edit: though I guess there isn’t a term for when a young male necro becomes a young female necro.

OUCH Mitzvah?

Prior to April 15th, it could take me an entire 3 hour play session to finish dailies.
Wow were you playing with your eyes closed or something? There were so many options to get 5 dailies that it should not have taken ANYONE more than 20 minutes to get 5 for the day, 30 minutes at the most.
Anywho… I agree with other posters who said all Anet needed to do was put a 10 daily cap on the AP’s earned. That would’ve just made soooooooooo much sense tho.
I think he is one of the people who felt compelled to do all the dailies. All PvE. All PvP. All WvW. Which is why it was taking him 3 hours.
Yes, I believe you get access to a special version of some legendaries. For one they cost half the gold, and you can turn them into a walking cane when you feel the need to take a break!
God, I could use that stick.
Also useful to threaten any Risen that get on your lawn.
I personally havn’t seen anyone using winter weapons.
I have the shortbow on my ranger and the shield on my guardian. I love the way they look (white mist and snowflakes flow from them), unfortunately shield is worthless on the guardian so it sits in inventory.
I use the shortbow whenever I play my ranger and have gotten a couple of questions about it.
straying into being nasty just to be nasty.
For some obscure reason it annoys people a little when they put in a post laying out the flaws in his argument concerning the effects on inflation or the number of scams and he responds with
ILLOGICAL. This is completely false and incorrect, for reasons I’ve already explained.”
When it was the “reasons he had already explained” that they were showing as false and incorrect. If someone won’t put in an honest effort to address counter arguments, it’s not surprising the thread goes downhill.
I feel stupid asking this but how do you see another player’s AP point total.
You add to friends list. Shows AP.
Or if you are partied with them. Mousing over the party icons shows information like account name, AP, location, etc..

I’d submit a ticket to protest, but I’m not sure how far that will get you.
Some of the bans are quite questionable, but Support has the final word (no pun intended) about name issues.
And can probably give you the best answer to your question. We can only speculate.
They will tell someone if a name is acceptable or not but not discuss the reasons why it’s not acceptable. Since he has not yet been reported or suspended but is only worrying about the possibility I doubt he needs to contact support, not for a name like Cinderfang.
Same problem here. Someone logged in from texas 17 minutes ago, I got him disconnected. Is it NCSoft for real? If yes – why so?
It’s quite scary, I just set up my mobile authenticator :O
You can check the IP to see where it’s coming from. It’s its from ncsoft or the Austin area it’s most likely the IP glitch. The login goes through that site and it can show up on your IP.
Go there and get all the waypoints. Then right before she is going to spawn, wait by the center camp without a waypoint. She will either spawn there or at a camp with a waypoint, which you can jump too.
Problem solved.
I feel like so many players measure AP as a skill base. While yes it can determine how long someone has played for, it doesn’t measure how skilled you are. And while yes there is nothing in game to measure skill at first sight, capping LFG groups at “LFG Zerk Only 7,000+ AP Ping Gear or kick!” Is annoying at the least.
Last night In fractals I had a 21.000 ap guy repeatedly die at various parts more so than everyone else around 3-5k.
However I do agree if someone’s joining my group at high level fractals and has 500 ap I’m gonna kick them. I feel it should be loosely based on something like that to avoid wasting time.
Logic.
Gotta love it when it’s there. But it’s funny as hell when it’s not.
No, the EU and NA servers are separate. Each has the account’s data on those servers stored in different data bases. The only way to cross over is a complete transfer of the account, no guesting is possible.
It is very easy to get keys by running a character through the Personal Story to Level 10, delete, and repeat. Other than that, keys may be obtained through map completion, etc. and rarely as loot drops.
Good luck.
That’s always seemed borderline exploitive to me. I’d much prefer they take those out and slightly increase the drop rate overall.
ANet was asked about key runs a long time ago and their answer was they were fine with it and that the amount of effort it takes to get a key means it’s not an exploit.
here is a response in a thread about key runs

Are you exploiting when you farm, that is, play the same area over and over again? Nope, not unless you’re using a macro or a bot to do it while you sleep. What I was told was that the devs felt that the time spent was acceptable in relation to the rewards. John later confirmed that it wasn’t an exploit, so I believe the question is covered now.
