Oh boy, so when I was waiting for my group in the fractal frozen I wanted to salvage the rare I picked up. I forgot that I switched out my Sunrise for the staff earlier and wasn’t paying attention … so puff. Sunrise salvaged … for one Mithril Ore.
I submit a ticket so hopefully Anet can restore it. But just throwing it out there, don’t be the other guy like me. Don’t even touch your salvage kit when your legendary is in your bag T_T

PvE Dueling

Astral Projections.7320

After reading both sides I think the gem store flag that you have to buy and wear in order to duel has the most promise. Those who don’t own a flag and/or don’t have the flag engaged, can’t duel. If the person who has the item is visibly flagged then duelers have no incentive to request duels from people without the flag as it’s not even possible.

Guess what? Yet another Key sale.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Astral Projections.7320

Well with key sales comes the speculation there may be new BL weapon skins following shortly after. So many will be stocking up on scraps or pray for the rare full tickets. Even if sometimes the gold to gems used to buy the keys could probably buy a whole bunch of skins from TP.

Yep.

Looking at the stats for BL chests, it averages out to 49 keys for 10 scraps. Assuming that someone gets a ticket with an average number of tries, with a current price of ~3293 gems for the 49 keys. 100 gold gets you ~983 gems so ~335 gold will get you the 3293 gems.

Considering most weapons sell for less than 100 gold, at least until several months after they are released, buying gems with gold to buy tickets for scraps is not cost effective.

The price with real money isn’t better. It would cost $42 USD to buy the 2 sets of 25 keys for 3360 gems to get a reasonable chance to get 10 scraps.

Astral Projections.7320

I have no idea why you guys are being so dismissive of this idea. I’ve seen a number of threads where people claim to have perfect security, no possibility of being hacked, and yet they were. While everyone should have the email or 2 factor authenification, not everyone will. The game has the auto log in feature which allows the possibility of someone getting into an unattended computer, as well as situations where someone has to abruptly leave the computer. Such as one situation where a man was playing and he heard his pregnant wife cry out. He jumped up and left the computer running unattended to go to her and while he was gone his young son got into the account.

An extra layer of optional security that locks people out of your bank and possibly your personal guild bank, why is this an idea that needs to be readily dismissed?

You could use all conditions and you’ll kill stuff when running around solo but it’s slower. Your chipping away at them rather than hitting them hard. And world bosses will hardly notice your attacks because of the way their set up with capped condition damage.

If you pug dungeons and someone else dealing condition damage comes along the 2 of you will be competing for the same condition damages resulting in less damage overall.

Ruined Ore Chunks

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

There are bugs that cause you to get ruined ore nodes when certain traits activate like the warrior’s traited ‘shake it off’ or balanced stance. I believe aegis being removed will do it as well. My necromancer can harvest with several mobs hitting her and walk away with nothing ruined, yet if my warrior has any of the traits I mentioned activated whilst in the middle of harvesting (like a temple area giving a condition like the Dwayna one, which triggers shake it off), ore/wood = ruined. This has been reported months and months ago, was acknowledged, yet we’ve never seen a fix.

I’ve reported it at least twice myself but didn’t know it was related to the trait triggers. I only knew I was using orichalcum tools and getting ruined stuff back. Not cool.

Even better would be making it so that you just can’t use a tool on a node it can’t harvest and getting rid of the whole ruined mechanic entirely. It does nothing but annoy the player/customer.

Not being able to harvest unless you have the proper tool would be a great solution. I’ve stopped carrying anything except ori tools after I’ve forgotten a couple of times and harvested T6 nodes with mithril level tools.

If someone would post instructions on how to add a gif, that would be helpful.

Hiyas, AP.

The forums didn’t always have a problem with adding a gif to a post. However, it recently started giving an error page after sitting there waiting for it to upload for a long time.

Add a gif the same as any other image, but if/when you get the error page just let it stay up. It seems like it stopped attempting to upload it, but it is still uploading it to the post despite giving the error page. Continue waiting while it continues to upload the gif.

Ideally, have a duplicate tab/page of the full thread you were making your comment in so you can refresh that one to tell when your post actually gets made so you can then close the error page.

Also, I’ve seen it happen to where I can only attach a gif in the above fashion after making the post and then editing it to add the gif.

If you attach a gif and get the error page, then hit ‘back’ and try to attach it again you will end up with two of the same gif attached when it eventually finishes attaching and updating your post. Or, if it was a fresh comment and not an edit, you may end up with duplicate posts, each with the gif attached to them when it finishes uploading both queued posts with their uploads.

Unfortunately your answer, while helpful, doesn’t go back far enough.

Maybe because I’m using an iPad, but when I click on a gif I get a static picture. For example, the beating a dead horse gif. The other instruction I read was to get the http string and add [img][/ing] to get this. which was supposed to result in a moving gif. But the time I tried it it didn’t even result in an image.

So is there some sort of site that you put a gif on to transfer to the forum?

Trading With Another Player

Astral Projections.7320

There is another point you haven’t addressed.

ANet has a scam proof way to trade between people. At this point when someone does get scammed, while ANet does punish the scammer their policy is to not get back the scammed item as those items are commonly sold, salvaged or given away by the time the ticket works it’s way through the system.

So if ANet puts in another system of trading then it’s a system they put their seal of approval on. People who get scammed using a player to player trading system that ANet specifically puts in for the purpose of bypassing the TP will reasonably expect to get their items and gold back. This means that anet will have to research the claims of what was scammed and where it went, which will increase the amount of work support has to do and how long it takes to clear a ticket.

And how will ANet return the items and gold? Many items will be sold to others or salvaged. Should they make the items out of thin air, contributing to inflation? Should the items sold to people innocently buying them be taken away? If the scammer bought items with scammed gold, should the sales be reversed? What about people who innocently sold to a scammer and got scammed gold and then bought items with that gold?

It’s not as easy as you might think.

As you yourself said
4. A trading interface significantly reduces the amount of fraud and scams. Because both players would have to accept the trade, the person who gets the item first can’t run away with it.

The number of fraud and scams using the trading post is zero. Even if a trading interface “significantly reduces the number of fraud and scams” it will be still higher than zero. Any increase in fraud and scams means more tickets to support. More workload. More cost to the company in terms of work hours and payroll. More people who get banned for scamming others.

In return your arguments that are needed to convince ANet are
1) I want. Not convincing as one person saying ‘I don’t want’ counterbalances your vote.
2) other games have it. Not convincing as all games don’t need to have all features and ANet feels their trading post positives outweighs the negatives.
3) the scam rate will be low. Not convincing as the scam rate with the TP post is zero.

Black Lion Claim Ticket Scraps / Tickets

I’ve been keeping records for the last 60 key runs and so far it’s averaging out to one every 4.6 runs (21.7% chance) and the most time without a scrap has been 8 runs.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chest/Drop_rate
The rate for scraps here is 173 out of 848 opened chests, which is a 20.4% chance (every 4.9 chests). The chance for a ticket is of course much lower, 6 out of 848 or 1 ticket out of every 141 chests. Essentially though you should get 10 scraps about every 50 keys or so.

Of course, RNG is RNG. Your mileage will vary.

It’s not really the players that you need to convince, it’s ANet. For them the current setup has two big pluses. One is the gold sink to keep inflation down. The other is the decreased business cost to them from zero scams when people use the TP.

Your idea would cost them several ways. One is the need to more closely monitor inflation and possibly decrease rewards for everyone if a substantial number use player to player trades. The other is the increased number of scams, as no personal trading can be made scam free. So they would have an increased workload for support, increased payroll, increased numbers of people banned for scamming and possibly decreased rewards to all players to offset inflation.

Any suggestion you make needs to be worth the costs to them.

When we will get a real black dye?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Astral Projections.7320

Astral Projections.7320

Apparently it’s not that simple, for a couple of reasons. One is there are 3 types of materials and each one dyes differently. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dye
“Up to four different colors may be applied to an individual item, and the outcome may differ depending on the type of material (cloth, leather, metal) that the dye is used on.”

The other is, each race handles dyes a little differently
“Also, each race has a cultural palette that reflects the character of the species. This means a red color for a human may not look the same as a red color for a norn or charr.”

Which means at the very minimum there has to be 3 dyes for each identical color, if not more, depending on the material (and the race sometimes).

1) in English "Thank you for patiently waiting” is a set polite phrase. There is no sarcasm intended, no more then saying “have a nice day” or any other set phrase.
2) they currently don’t have the tools to give you items like the Shattered Wing covers that were generated ingame by completing an achievement. This is undoubtably a flaw in the game that needs to be fixed, but reporting support for bad treatment for something they are literally unable to do is to misunderstand the situation.

Astral Projections.7320

Yah. There was a complete reworking of the trait system.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/traits-unleashed-forty-new-traits-and-more/
One fundamental change to the way traits function is that you won’t be required to visit a profession trainer and purchase a training manual to access the adept, master, and grandmaster trait tiers! Once you reach the appropriate level, we want you to be able to dive right into the system and start playing around with it, so you’ll unlock each tier for free!
As part of this approach to making traits more approachable, we’ve pushed back the level at which the different trait tiers unlock for new characters in order to better pace the early game experience and to add more meaningful character progression from levels 30 to 80. Starting with this feature pack, new characters will unlock the adept tier at level 30, the master tier at level 60, and the grandmaster tier at level 80.
