Well, that’s tedious. I enjoyed getting those skins. Though I have to admit I never understood the reasoning of getting PvP rewards when I never PvP. I never understood the reasoning of getting WvW rewards when I don’t WvW either. Not that I was going to complain since it allowed me to get ascended trinkets cheaper, or get a Gift of Battle without ever battling.

If you never received any emails this strongly suggests your email was hacked also and the hacker deleted those emails.

You need to immediately do a security scan including looking for a key logger. Once your computer is secure, change the email password. Then change your game password again since the hacker had access to your new one. Then contact support at https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new to ask for a rollback of your account to a date before the hack.

Yah. I do key runs because I flat refuse to pay for the RNG boxes. When the Wintersday weapon skins were put in the gem store for gems as a direct purchase, I bought 2 of them. I’ve bought costumes, bank tabs, character slots and other stuff, all direct purchases. As long as they have them as a random item where you don’t know if you are going to spend 800 gems or 8000, then I will farm them. When you calculate the price, it’s about $50 USD for one skin, if you purchase the keys. Or more if you are unlucky. There was a recent thread where one guy spent $100 trying to get a weapon and that’s outrageous.

I like the new skins but will get ZERO because there is no longer any way to make in-game gold to buy them and I REFUSE to spend one more cent on the gem shop.

I’m sure all the people who are willing to spend countless hours farming keys (WHICH IS OK IN ANET’S BOOK BUT NOT CHAMPS OR EVENTS OR DUNGEONS OH NO) will be super rich. Good on ya.

I do key runs. It typically takes me about 50 runs to get the 10 scraps at ~30 minutes a run (about 25 hours total). Assuming one run a day for a weapon skin that sells for $150 gold (seems to be the most common high price for recently released skins), that means I earn 3 gold a day doing key runs. I don’t get super rich doing this. There is a nice payoff at the end but it averages per day out to much less and there is a big boredom factor with it also.

If you have someone with 14 skins to sell, think of the math.
If they were managing to do 50 runs at 20 minutes each times the 14 tickets, that’s 233 hours of key farming, equivalent to 9.7 days of continuous 24 per day hour key farming. That’s a lot work. You are seeing the big shiny rewards. What you are not seeing is the hours and hours and hours of really boring work that went to get those rewards.

Been that way since they released it as a reward for Clockwork Chaos. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Clockwork_Chaos_

There were a number of threads about it asking for this to be changed. Result, no change. I was so excited to get that tonic and so disappointed to find out its strange restrictions that make it worthless. It now rots in my inventory.

Good luck with your thread but I’m expecting zero results from it.

Sigil Stacks lost on WP or swimming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Astral Projections.7320

Yeah it is intended now for you to lose the stacks if you go in and out of water unless you have a bloodlust on an underwater weapon also.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_Bloodlust
“As a result of the April 2014 patch, the Sigil of Bloodlust — and presumably, other “stack on kill” Sigils — have been significantly degraded. If you are an Elementalist, all accumulated stacks are lost any time you change weapons, even if the new weapon has the Sigil of Bloodlust. If you carry dual weapons with Bloodlust Sigils, you no longer get two stacks for each kill. If you are a profession with weapon swap capability, you will retain your accumulated stacks only as long as one of your two weapons has the Sigil of Bloodlust."

My understanding is they wanted to stop people from building up a stack and then switching to another weapon set with a different set of sigils. I guess they felt that was too overpowered.

To the people that way the players are doing it wrong. I stole this quote from a poster named Pifil as I thought it very relevant.

“Yep, it’s always the players fault, never ArenaNet’s for not actually communicating the change in direction or putting any effort into “retraining” the players in those changes or giving them tools to better organise themselves in the multi-lingual, multi-server mush that the megaserver system created.”

Yes. I agree that ArenaNet needs to do a better job of teaching players HOW to play these events. I even created a very long post about it. Look for the “Herding Cats” post.

That said, players share some of the responsibility. The information is there. Players are trying to explain in mapchat. The tooltips offer plenty of guidance.

This isn’t a megaserver problem as this exact problem existed with Marionette. Or the Holo-knights. Or Tequatl. Or the Three-Headed Wurm. Language barriers certainly make this more difficult, but that’s not something completely new.

Not everyone is on teamspeak, nor is it set up for these short term events where people are coming and going. The game has no voice speak set up to compensate. ANet is at fault here.

Not everyone is literate. Not everyone can read English (or whatever language you use) easily. Many, from posts I read, struggle with basic reading. These people either don’t read map chat at all or read slowly with little comprehension. You can’t expect these people to be reading your instructions in the middle of a fight.

With everyone mashed together, no one knows anyone, knows who is reliable and who is a troll.
“I don’t yell at people who are trying to help to go away. I did ask the Commander who was tagged up to tag down because he was creating a zerg. He did not. I told people to split up and attack the bosses at the same time. They did not.”
Why should you expect these people to listen to you? Some random person in the group, telling Commanders to tag down or your other instructions. They don’t know you from Adam. Don’t know if you are reliable, know what you are talking about or if you are trolling. It’s rather arrogant to be telling strangers how to do something totally different from the way it was the last time and then expecting them to obey.

People are mashed together from many servers. This is a particular problem with the EU servers where not only are there multiple languages but the ability to see chat of other languages has been disabled. For example, if someone is giving instructions in English and other people have non English as the set up language then the instructions don’t even show up in their chat. How do you expect these people to follow your directions if your directions don’t even show up in chat? ANet is at fault.

People showed up for the Queens Pavillion. Was there an NPC saying, “ok here’s the new rules” or “everyone split up into 6 equal groups”? No. It doesn’t. ANet is at fault.

Your post that I quoted made no mention of any problems that ANet may have caused or acerbated. It was only expressing that it will be great once these people leave.

The Queen’s Pavilion will be great once all the people who came to zerg up, mash 1, and collect tons of loot leave.

I haven’t done the Queen’s Pavilion yet. Everyone says the loot is very meager. After people have gotten the Living Story achieves what will keep them coming back and playing there? What will keep it full so that the late comers to this can also get their achieves? Are the boss fights so fun and rewarding that people are going to keep returning for that? What will be so great about it after so many have left?

Absolutely nothing.
Now let’s wait for that white knight posting that we shouldn’t play for reward.

The rewards will be much better when the players doing the content are better. 45m for 2 champ bags and a green is obviously terrible. But if you can get the, what, 8 for gold? In less than 8 minutes? That’s much better.

The problem right now is that the player base is doing it wrong.

Your quote “The Queen’s Pavilion will be great once all the people who came to zerg up, mash 1, and collect tons of loot leave” is very “interesting”. You didn’t say anything about it being great if/when they learned how to play better, just it will be great when they are gone.

I guess these people will come in, get their achieves and go, leaving you and a few others in happy isolation there. Farming the champs over and over again while simultaneously patting yourself on the back for not being a member of the zerg. Not a pretty picture.

I would like it if they added something like, do X events in a level Y zone. When they have, ‘do events in a particular zone’ such as Maguuma, most people run to the starter zone to do them as they already know where the events are. Specifying a level rather than an area would send people out to other maps to do events.

Go to EOTM maybe and join a train? You will get WvW rank gain mostly, some kill XP and drop increase. Apparently, even though it says there is a karma gain, you don’t actually get one.

For kill, that’s harder to find. You would need a spot with lots of rapidly respawning mobs and there aren’t many places like that. Something like the bandits in the bandit cave in Queensdale maybe. Since you are downleveled you still get XP from them. If you can find a dredge cave with lots of dredge, that might be another good spot.

If you are going to actually make celestial armor then the quartz is necessary and the krait shard is useful. If not, then the krait shard has no real use as it can only be used once per character to get a skill point and after that it’s worthless as charged quartz is account bound and unsellable. Otherwise, harvesting in order to sell.

Candy corn is cheap on the TP. It has some crafting uses. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Piece_of_Candy_Corn, which you can research to see if it’s anything you might want to make. If not it’s currently of limited use. Otherwise, harvesting in order to sell.

Sprockets, same as the others. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Watchwork_Sprocket, good if there is something you want to craft otherwise daily harvesting in order to sell.

As for the blade shards, I don’t know about anyone else’s drop rate but I might get one with a daily harvest. With less than one a day it will be a long time to get enough to make the ascended backpiece.

So, if you are going to use them to craft, they’re great. Otherwise, they’re ok but so so. I harvest daily to sell and get between 2 to 3 gold a week, probably closer to the 2 gold than the 3. Useful when the daily has gatherer also.

There are several things that a company will consider before it spends money. The most obvious is, is there a demand for it. After reading the forum since launch, yours is the only thread I know of asking for this and you are the only person on the thread in favor of it. So here the answer is no. There isn’t enough demand for doing this.

Your guess of 10 to 20% is just an unsupported number you made up. How many languages are we looking at? It would need at least 5. English, French and German, Chinese, and Spanish. So each NPC would need to be recorded at least 5 times. Will each NPC have a unique voice or will each of the 5 languages have one man and one woman doing all of them. They will have to arrange for the people to come in, interview them, hire, pay, have them go to recording studios and have the necessary people who do all the recording come in and work. Listen to all to make sure the sounds are clean and the people are saying what they are supposed to be saying. Put the dialog in game. And I’m sure there is more that I can’t think up.

It’s not something cheap and fast that they can do.

I would say it’s closer to the 100-150% also for most people. The cost of getting it to 300% is very high and out of reach for many to do it quickly. If you salvage everything then the loss of the greens and blues to sell adds up. Most people don’t have the ectos to waste salvaging them either. It’s more the hard core salvagers that have 300%. And truthfully, it’s hard to see any increase in drops with the increase in MF, which means it doesn’t really feel important to increase MF.

Just a question about salvaging and ectos. Unless you are talking about salvaging ectos themselves, I don’t see how etco has anything to do with salvaging. I’m just confused by the wording.

However I do agree. Having 300% MF is more of an endgame goal than anything. Much like Ascended armor. Not really usefull unless you are running higher level fractals. Otherwise you can still do quite well with exotic.

Yes, that statement is about salvaging ectos to get luck. I’ve read that some people got to a high level of magic find by salvaging ectos, but most people don’t have them to spare, and the cost of it is a consideration.

In case you didn’t know you could salvage ectos to get luck: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glob_of_Ectoplasm

Even so, a material that is account bound going from useful to just clutter is a terrible thing. Ascended materials are at least used for something, but Luck has zero uses outside of MF. They need to provide another use for those of us that are at 300% (not me) or that would prefer something else to be done with them. Maybe as a substitute for other materials.

Yes, and one day they should do this. The question is, are there enough people at 300% to make it worthwhile to sit down now and set up a whole new reward structure for excess luck? If the number of people at 300% is tiny, and I suspect it is, that would be a waste of finite time and resources. When there are a lot of people at 300% then that is the time to rework the system.

Personally I can’t imagine spending real money to buy keys for the hope of a skin. The average person, if they buy 25 keys for 2100 gems, will normally need to buy 50 for 4200 gems or $52.50 USD. If you are unlucky as OP was, you can spend substantially more.

Spending $50 for one weapon skin is way overpriced. Making it so that the unlucky spend more than that is ridiculous. And THIS is why I do key runs. I’m not about to spend that sort of money on the chance of what I want. I’ve bought character slots, armor, costumes, and bank slots with real money, but not one key.
