The only thing keeping anyone from doing or attempting Tequatl is their own stubborness, unwillingness and refusal to do so.
So, if i, and the other 3 people in Sparkly, attempt to do Teq, it’s only my own stubborness, unwilingness and refusal to win that will make me fail. Right.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Except how many other things have we done that with (at the least RNG chests and jorbreakers)? And look how many times they ‘listened’…
So saying we don’t like it and not saying anything at all will pretty much have the same effect. If you never use your voice then nothing will ever change for sure. If you do use your voice there is the chance things will change. Especially if your voice is joined by others to create a chorus that cannot be drowned out.
Thats true, but just ‘cuz they ’hear’ us doesn’t mean they’ll do anything about it.
But if they won’t hear, even the slim chance of them doing anything about it will disappear into nothing. If you give up at doing something simply because you might fail, then you will definitely fail.
And yes, i wonder if they’ll address that question in the livestream. Especially in the context of them claiming that they desire better communication with the community now.

There is no treadmill. The progress you make makes you stronger vs the environment and the environment isn’t being tuned to keep pace.
It is. All the new mobs/bosses are stronger than their start-of-the-game equivalent. Some of already existing mobs got strengthened. More revamps are promised. If you think that had nothing to do with ascended gear, you are naive.

this cleric troll build crap has to be nerfed somehow.
No it shouldn’t, this ‘troll crap’ is strategy. Just because it’s a strategy you can’t counter on your own doesn’t make it overpowered.
I don’t find a 10-20 sec skirmish that fun.
20 whole seconds people!!
Yeah, the OP admitted back on Page 1 that this thread was about being unable to kill a bunker in an amount of time (measured in single digit seconds) he thought was acceptable for a player of his skill.
The problem is not about killng people with crazy regen .
It’s about PvP being a borefest when you fight bunkers
Only . I don’t wanna waste 2 minutes on 1 person if i know
Im better than him and only his regen prevents me
To stomp him in 5 secs .There is a big difference between 20 seconds and 2 minutes. Also he claims to know when he is better than other players and should be able to beat them in 5 seconds if they didn’t have regen, based on what exactly?
Atse said 2 minutes is
unacceptable. His superior skill , should
allow him to kill in 5 secs.Yes I just discussed that, why are you repeating something I just discussed?
Well, that was basically his whole basis for the change. He should be able to stomp other players in 5 secs, because he is that superior. I don’t think he had any other arguments beyond that.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
If you make Tequatl scale for 20 people, people will start yelling at you for showing up if it scales the encounter to make it harder.
Nobody does it at golem (or at lyssa), even if the scaling increases difficulty in a very visible way. No reason to suspect it would be different there, unless the scaling will be very badly done.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I think that this 10% damage increase happens only in full berserker gear, since we all know that berserker is op and need nerf. Other kinds of builds like soldier’s cleric’s conditions etc will not get that much damage increase. In wvw i notice that almost everyone wears soldier gear so ascended will not have that much impact.
The most impact will happen in dungeon’s speedclears because of the full berserker meta.
5% is from the weapon damage increase alone. Stat increase for primary power sets (that is for Soldier as well) will be another 2-3%.
Zerker damage increase, by the way, will be bigger than 10.3%, because OP again ignored increase in critical hit chance and just compared pure full crit damage to each other.
So, “not much” will end up being (depending on build) anything from 5% for pure bunker, 7-8% for hybrids, to over 10% increase for zerkers. Before armor is added to the mix (and armor will, in addition to stats, increase by 2-4% damage reduction to further shift balance away from exotics).
Yes, definitely noone’s going to notice that [/sarcasm]
Remember, remember, 15th of November
If this skill is usable in WvW every person and there grandma will run it in WvW it gets ride of several powerful condition confusion and poison torment and a new condition toxin. Just cluster together and hit your healing skill conditions gone
You haven’t even seen this skill, and you already assume lot of things about it. There are many things that may make it a subpar choice, which you seem to be completely ignoring.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Can you do the math on defensive stats aswell? Maybe with leaked armor stats too.
I’m not going to do exact math here, but assuming that the base armor rating will be increased by 5% (as base weapon damage did), then the damage reduction will end up at somewhere around 2-3% increase. Perhaps 3-5% increase for a toughness-primary full set. Precise values may be a bit different, but looking at the damage formula (and the fact that armor, toughness and vit do not scale cumulatively as well as power/prec/crit damage) i’d say my guesstimates should be pretty close.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
And we’re going to ignore the following quote from July 2013:
Colin Johanson:(snip)
Your character will be able to grow and change for years to come without invalidating everything you’ve earned so far.So, what was this thread about again?
The fact that what they said will happen and what is happening do not match? Because ascended weapons (and armor, when it gets in) do mean invalidating what i have earned so far (at least as far as having a BiS is concerned).
Also, see that again he said about not introducing new tiers every 3-6 months. I can believe that – after all ascended tier introduction is staggered for almost a whole year already (and will be slightly over a year when it is fully released). So, no, not every 3-6 months. Every 1-2 years however? Now, that is quite likely.
And they can always increase the level cap from time to time, to introduce a healthy variance.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
No. Thank you. I don’t want to give away my convenience in exchange for something that would be boring and tedious. There’s no fun in wasting most of the game time on running to the places i want to be in.
It would also have some effects you might have overlooked. First, It would make a lot of areas even more empty than they are now – nobody would want to run to places located far away from travel hubs, unless something really, really significant was there. Than means even more people in areas like queensdale and frostgorge (first because it is convenient and close, second because it is very profitable and going anywhere else would mean a lot of time wasted on running back, so better to get there once and stay).
That means also completely revamping whole reward system, and proces of everything – for example mats for crafting are based on the assumption that they can be easily farmed en masse. Take away waypoints, and this is no longer true.
Events like invasion, announced only when they start, which can happen anywhere in the world, would have to go as well.
Mind you, i don’t think that everything i mentioned above – especially grind and invasions – to be things worth defending. It’s just knowing Anet they would be replaced with something even worse.
But mostly? The time requirements to do anything in the game would go way up. Which is definitely a very, very bad thing.

Probably not gonna happen (at least with Halloween). Hopefully they learn from this (even though they didn’t with Dragon Bash and the Jorbreakers), that requiring thousands of something is just making it grindy and is going to push more people away. Unless thats their goal…
What did they learn? The Holographic Dragon Wings were on the tp for 6g within a month after the event. Then they stayed around 9g for quite a while. Hardly even remotely comparable to the current event. Zaitaffy also had a much higher drop rate from mobs than CC does, and there were no rare items.
None of these wings on TP came from jorbreakers. They were dropping in the game, and while their individual drop rate wasn’t that good (meaning, you couldn’t hope to drop one yourself), it was good enough that supply managed to satisfy the demand.
Of course, seeing their reactions to the many questions about Jorbreakers, made it clear that they didn’t even understand where the problem with its price was – or that there was any problem at all.
So yeah, i agree, not only they didn’t learn anything at all, but it’s debatable they even thought there was anything to learn here.

Now do the same thing with Exotic vs Rare, and you’ll find the difference even greater. Heck do Exotic vs Fine and the difference is huge.
Yes. And that’s why it’s fortunate that exotics are so easy to get. Not so with ascended, however.
You got absolutely nothing to base this prediction off of. They introduced a new tier, and yet the content is still balanced around fine (Blue) gear
That is not true. New content is definitely balanced about higher stat point than before. New run-of-the-mill mobs are stronger than their start-of-the-game equal level counterparts (just look at aethers). Revamped Teq dps check was not balanced around people in blues and greens. And so on, and so on.
It’s already happening. Which was to be expected, because the people that complain the most about how the content is so easy are the same people that get the new tier gear the first. Of course that makes everything easier – that’s what stat increases are for. To make a content that will be challenging to that group, it will have to be significantly harder for those still geared in lower tier eq.
Besides, Devs did state several times already that they indeed do intend to continue with vertical progression.

It’s a fallacy that you have to join a TTS guild to take down Tequatl. All you need to do is find out when a guild like that is taking down Tequatl and show up. That’s it. That’s all you have to do.
I know because I’ve done it.
If they are doing it in overflow, and my world never has overflows for sparkfly (unless there’s and invasion ongoing ;P), then i can’t just show up. I need someone from that group to ferry me.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
For candy corn, yes. For nougat, fangs and skulls i’d say 250 of the normal, base mats should be the max.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I hope they make more bosses like Teq, some of us have no trouble clicking 5 times to get to the OF and do it.
And so, the less than 1% of community will have fun, while alienating everyone else.
I can understand why that select few might consider this a good idea. It is. For them alone. For the game however, it is still a design fail.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Yes, i’d like to see more of underwater areas, and this includes big underwater cities. Of course it would require serious polishing and fixing of current underwater mechanics (and camera problems).
No, i don’t want to see a Largos city. If i never see another Largos in this game, it will still be too soon.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
There isn’t any intrinsically wrong with different tiers of mats being in demand by endgame players. In fact, it’s a GOOD thing because it diversifies and spreads opportunities to capitalize.
Only if those mats are obtainable by endgame players. Those are not. lower tier metal and wood can be harvested by level 80 players as well as lower level ones, but silver doubloons are specifically not part of any drop tables for level 80 chars.
Yes, there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with Juggernaut requiring lower tier mats. Level 80s however should be able to get those mats at least as easily as level 21-30s. And there is something intrinsically wrong with the fact that they can’t.

“Um… Her idea of “indirect manipulation” seems to be “they work for me, because they want to live”. She’s hardly subtle. And that should not work on krait.”
Really? Because that is not how flame and frost felt.
Yep, by that time the story was still believable – and scarlet wasn’t in the picture yet. It went downhill later (and yes, that’s pretty much Scarlet’s explanation why aetherblades and molten alliance work for her now).
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Lets say someone buys 100 gold worth of silver doubloons, and this patch rolls along. What happens then. Is the 100 gold gone because silver doubloon demand is gone too?
They didn’t take away money from people that bought 100g of doubloons before ascended rolled out and everyone went for legendaries, resulting in doubloons increasing in price 10-fold. If you can profit big on major market changes, then it follows that you should be prepared to lose big as well, if you fail to predict the shifts in prices in time.
So yes, if Anet were to introduce some of the proposed changes and doubloons went down hard, the money invested in them would be gone.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Anet DID learn from the Karka Queen. Since then they haven’t done a one time only event, with everyone having to show up at the same time to do it. That’s called learning.
That’s Ancient Karka event. Yes, they learned something – that their servers are not up to the task. Now, Karka Queen… that didn’t teach them anything.
I don’t know. I don’t think the Karka Queen was supposed to be anything more than it is…something for larger guilds to do (and larger guilds do it).
There were hints about that time that suggested that it was supposed to be one of the ways to revitalize Southsun. It was definitely a direct response to the common complaint that Southsun was a dead zone with a visible lack of dynamic events (including world boss type ones). There was not even a slightest hint that it was supposed to be a guild/elite content – quite the opposite, it was supposed to pull people in.
Well, maybe it was supposed to be a difficult content and pull people in.
I am pretty sure it didn’t work out as well as Anet intended.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Yes, I get that people want their Legendary yesterday but being ignorant and posting QQ threads about Silver doubloons when they are relatively EASY to get compared to other materials for legendaries is just …
You are assuming again that people don’t play this game at all. I don’t farm lodestones in the slightest, i don’t expend any special effort to get them. All those drops are completely coincidental as a sideeffect of other things i do. To get silver doubloons however, i do need to expend special effort. And yet I get way more lodestones than silver doubloons.
So, what is easier again?

If i wanted to do a summary why she’s such a cartoonish cliche villain and why it would be better to just forget about her, i couldn’t have done it better. Thank you OP.
Agreed. The Back story just helped to cement how utterly ridiculous & Sue this character is. it’s not surprising that some MMO players like her, she’s the epitome of the teenage Deviant Art style character who is awesome at everything, has the stupid modern-stlye annoying sassy character that is incongruent with the setting & “bucks the system” for some “i’m great & unique” reason like every teen does in their half-informed wisdom.
I think the Scarlet haters can’t seem to agree on anything other than their shared dislike of this character. Cartoonish villains are almost always full of glaring flaws that always ends up causing them to lose in the end. It’s where the whole concept of Saturday morning cartoon villains stems from. Every episode the villain has some dastardly plan and at the end the hero always manages to foil their plans through some obvious flaw. They are far removed from this so called “villain sue” that is seemingly perfect and free of flaws or weaknesses.
Well, she’s both. She is described as being perfect and free of weaknesses. Even her madness is being presented as her strength. And yet, at the same time we, the heroes always manage to foil her plans. Which causes her to appear in the next chapter with a new perfect plan. Which we will defeat again. But of course, that is her plan all along, apparently.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
You’re claiming it’s easier to level to 80 and gear up to farm for a lodestone per hour by killing stuff IF the temple is not in Orrian hands than it is to park a cheaply-equipped, level 20ish character at LA JP and open a chest once a day at no risk, taking about 3o seconds per attempt?
I never said about temple farming, did i? And yet i have more lodestone drops per week on average than silver doubloon drops (while having a level 21 char parked in an appropriate jp). Champ bags, fractals, some dungeons, temple event chests, upgrading from cores…
Availability of silver doubloons doesn’t come even close. You still not relevant comparisons here. Champ bags, fractals, some dungeons, temple event chests, upgrading from cores… all that requires you to do the ‘harder than parking a level 20 naked toon at a LA JP’ stuff. Whatever method you want to discuss, it’s simply not debatable. The investment is clearly lower to get silver doubloons than it is to do ANY of the ways you listed for lodestones. When you make a comparison of quantitiesobtained for a given playtime, there is no doubt doubloons is better.
No, it’s better only if you can’t invest any time at all. Yes, logging in, checking chest and logging out takes only 5 minutes, but it’s still one chance per 24 hours. You don’t account for it at all.

(or just increase the amount of utility infusions you can equip at once).
They should just abandon that original design failure of different infusion slot types and make every slot universal. Though this might require placing some caps on +MF/karma/etc infusions.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
A-net mentioned many times that they didn’t anticipated Exotics to become so common.
Which is funny, since before that their stated goal wast to have pretty much everyone be in Exotics at level 80. They didn’t anticipate to ever reach their stated goals? Oh, really?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Quite unlikly to be another agony equivalent, as this condition is by design uncleansable and can only be reduced through infusions. Since this obviously can be cleansed, seems to be a new “normal” condition. Of course, might just be something for this LS only.

I have a huge problem with the fact that they are town clothes and not armor though
That’s the main problem with costumes now. You should be able to (like in GW1) override your PvE look with your costume. For obvious reasons this should not apply to WvW and sPvP, however.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Yes, you heard me correctly. I choose Largos over Tengu.. why? I choose the largo race because of their incredibly amazing appearance.
They have beautiful wings and blue skin sort of like a demon or a succubi. Ears sort of like a elf or a dwarf. They are well known assassins and trained undersea fighters. How cool is that?
Not much. They are a pileup on cliches on cliches, mysterious underwater winged drow ninjas. I hope that in the future they will be conveniently forgotten.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
As for Zerker being the only real effective playstyle, that’s just plain wrong. You can clear dungeons with any team setup, you’re just going to take longer to do so.
You have just contradicted yourself here. If other setups take longer, then they are not equally effective, obviously.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
But I disagree about Twilight Assault. It’s by far my favorite dungeon in the game to date..well maybe except for the Fractals. But it’s up there.
Is it because of the mechanics, story or both? While i am not really fond of aetherblade retreat-style dungeons and think that Assault could have been made easier a bit, i can understand that there are people that like it. That’s not what i was talking about. I was solely concentrating here on basing its fluff on aetherblade/scarlet story arc (though i guess i didn’t make it clear enough).

All i want to do is continue the dare i say very PvE halloween quest line. I do not want to do pvp or wvw.
Then it’s good you don’t have to. I didn’t.
And while you’re at it.. STOP giving me wvw and pvp items for rewards in things like my 2500 achievement points reward. That had to have been the most USELESS things i have ever gotten.
Then throw them away. They didn’t replace anything else – they are in addition to PvE stuff. They may be useless to you, but it’s not like you lost anything by receiving them, so i don’t understand why you are so angry about it.

I partly agree with Vayne here. I don’t remember hearts being toned down in any way during the develompent – quite the opposite. I also understand the need for temporary content, that (while engaging) is neither too important or too rewarding. People that missed an arc of temporary living story cannot miss too much, after all.
Unfortunately, that’s only a small part of what OP was talking about – and most of the rest is pretty much spot on.
And even things that Vayne mentioned are very conditional:
While hearts weren’t nerfet in importance, karma vendors (mentioned by OP in the same sentence) definitely were. While karma was originally supposed to be an important currency, we’ve seen it being completely abandoned by the devs after the start. Even last attempts to increase it value again (by massively nerfing it’s income) weren’t exactly well thought-out, and never addressed the main reasons why it was mostly useless currency lately. In many ways, it only made the situation worse.
And while creating a constant stream of temporary events to keep players engaged (living story) seem to have been a good idea – most of the players (especially casuals) do like to be pointed at some shortterm goals – the pacing of LS events seem a bit too fast now, leaving people burned out. Also, for the MMO to really feel alive, some of the changes must be permanent. And those changes must be of way better quality than what the LS shows us now. Which of course means that they cannot be based on poor quality living story arcs (yes, Twilight Assault, i am looking at you).
…and story even for those short-term temporary content could be improved in quality, and made more consistent with the world, instead of producing some really wtf effects. In that context flame and frost was okay, but the Aetherblade/Scarlet part was a great disappointment.

I am not the one talking about stuff being hard.
And lets face it. Ascended Gear is not HARD to get, it takes time, but it sure ain’t hard.
Okay, ascended is a pain to acquire not because of how difficult it is (because you are right, it’s not), but how much time it takes and how much does it cost. If exotics were anywhere close to it, you’d have heard protests since day one of this game.
Does that answer your previous question better?
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Why do people keep shouting about how MASSIVE the gap will be and how REQUIRED Ascended will be?
The difference between Rare and Exotic is larger than between Exotic and Ascended. And yet it is fully possible to run around in WvW and kill people, it is possible to complete every single dungeon in Mastergear Items and so on.
If it was such a massive difference, wouldn’t that difference have been even more massive between Rare and Exotic? And yet no one seems to complain about that.
That’s because exotics are still rather easy to acquire. If they were harder, you’d have heard screams long ago.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
kitten it.
It looks like the grinders and the people who “need something to strive for” in a game , won. Grats guys, it’s all yours. You know how I’ll deal with ascended gear in game? By never logging into the game again.
I will NOT run mindless content over and over for these mats. I will NOT join the 24/7 Queensdale and Frostgorge champ trains. And I will NOT spend hundreds of goal on ONE profession just to level it and time gate myself into oblivion. This is ridiculous!
Well kitten , since you don’t want to do that stuff, that means you have the entirety of the game to play unobstructed.
Manifesto: 1
Crying about BiS: 0I really don’t know what to say to someone who claims that clear, mathematically proven statistical advantages from ascended gear “don’t really matter” in WvW and fights against other players. And that these advantages don’t compound with the advantages other players geared in ascended bring.
Mathematically proven for zerker gear, in perfect world conditions: 1v1, no movement, no dodging, no buffs, no lag, no weapon skills, no healing, no conditions.
Yes, that’s really what you’re saying, because that’s all the math tells us.
Don’t you think that the analysis is willfully ignoring 95% of the combat mechanics to suit the argument?
No? It’s the people that claim that “ascended advantage is minimal and can be ignored” that are willfully ignoring reality.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
If you want to ensure the devs don’t receive the wrong message, may I suggest you could use a minute to edit your request. Unless it was really Class Balance, of course
Well, i did mean class balance. Adding depth is definitely secondary to that, seeing how unbalanced the classes are now.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
No, thank you. Buffs should go to weaker skills, classes and mechanics, not to the already strong ones.

I think the bottom line here is that it’s no harder to get Silver Doubloons as it is Lodestones. In fact, I think it’s easier. Camping chests isn’t the only way to get them.
But it is harder. Getting lodestones is easier and requires no special twinking (like having a character you keep in lower level bracket especially for that).
Remember, remember, 15th of November
The official explanation said that the rewards were lowered to compensate for luck essence drops. It’s up to you to see any logic in that statement.

There was a widespread lag spike everywhere (not only in WvW, not only in T1 servers) over an hour ago. Not sure if it has already passed.

And the current mechanics make it so the risk is the same for everyone, but the reward is greater for zerkers. Something’s obviously not right.
Is assumption that you don’t run with zerker gear correct?

Remember, remember, 15th of November
No it’s not. The point of berserker gear is risk vs. reward

You would think the Manifesto was the Holy Bible or something. Do people worship this thing and offer ritual sacrifices to it?
The manifesto listed Anet’s core ideals and intentions for the game. Many many people bought the game based on these words. To many people, Anet has gone back or even turned 180 degrees on many of those words — that’s why they feel betrayed. It’s as simple as that.
I completely agree with you.
As the saying goes, “if you don’t want to tell the truth, than don’t say a word”
Simple as that!!
This is a pretty simplified version of reality.
I was going to take the kids to the movies one day. I told the kids I was going to take them to the movies. Then I got a call from work and had to go in. Naturally, my kids were disappointed. Because I told them I was taking them somewhere and couldn’t take them.
Ah, but did you tell them “sorry, something came up” or continued to claim that “the move will be great, you’ll see” while already knowing that they won’t see it? Because so far Anet is definitely not ready to acknowledge there were any significant changes to the original design.
