Nothing was stopping you from doing that before they nerfed the Champ farm. You saying this was a step in the right direction screams that you are just supporting Anet blindly in this or don’t actually have any real game goals requiring a lot of gold. Anet doesn’t need to nerf another thing in this game. If they are unhappy with people farming something they need to BUFF other alternatives not nerf the already very LIMITED opportunities that currently exist.
The champ farm was more than just the silver per box it was also Tier6 mats … 2 birds one stone, which is what made it so efficient. If it is easier to obtain gold it frees time to actually DO OTHER THINGS. Having to grind for longer to make less just forces people to choose to grind and only grind or leave the game. For the love of common sense Anet please wake up and realize that.
Even though i can agree that nothing was stopping me from doing that before they nerfed the champ farm you coudn’t be farther from the truth in your assumption that i have no real game goals requiring a long of gold.
I have farmed my way to crafting a legendary, ascended weapon and on my way to crafting another ascended weapon + backpiece before the end of this week. Having already gotten another 2 gifts my longer term goal is to craft another legendary when the new ones are announced.
The reason i said that this is a step in the right direction is because i fondly believe that this will indirectly push people in acquiring gold in more varied ways than repeating the same route for hours on end. When i was farming in Orr for 3-4g an hour there were no other equivalent alternatives.Now there are. Quite a few actually. Please do try them as a proof of concept before saying they are unequal in terms of income.
Don’t get me wrong. I am an avid farmer and i continue to farm, albeit in a different style. But the Champ farm in my opinion is the single worst way i have encountered for farming in my life.
Do try this:
1) Do 3 dungeon speed runs. (at least 2g upon finishing each one) for over 4.5g + ascended mats
2) Check http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html and guest to a server that is currently doing 1-3 temples. You can guest to 2 servers a day. So doing 3 temples a day is easy for around 1g per temple in loot or less + ascended mats
3) Do a Scarlet invasion when it pops up for up to 5g in gold
After doing these 3 things, sell your mats or what not and count your gold. If you havent made at least 10g within 2-3 hours then i’ll take my word back.
Edit: I did stop the champ train around 2 weeks before it got nerfed

I had quit running champ farms since around 2 weeks ago because i seriously could not take it anymore. It was more stressing than satisfying trying to catch up with a train of 50 people rushing to tag champs. Then i looked for alternatives.
3xdungeon speed runs equal around 5-6g worth of rewards on average. All AC can be done within an hour or so with a good group and i found the LFG tool quite usefull in building the groups i want for optimal runs. Add some God temple runs on top of that and there, here’s your gold farm.
Just yesterday i did 5 dungeon runs, did 3-4 temples and i totalled 15g. I had gotten over 12 rares on top of 1-1.5g per dungeon run final reward AND lets not forget the ascended mat drops as well!
Dungeons and temples drop a crap load of rares and the temple pre events also have some good drops occasionally.
Seriously, way, way more fun and interactive
Overall i enjoy this varied playstyle way more than champ farming. A step to the right direction i say!
as others have mentioned, using a cheesy build against unskilled opponents and you always start the fights at full adrenaline. Sorry, 0 skill.

This nerf bat strike will only cause my adrenaline to go higher up. Couldn’t be happier for that announcement. Now i will be killing with a vengeance again.

I remember the good ol days when i didn’t have to wait for 6 hours in order to wvw, and when i do skill lag makes it unplayable to have anything than a LB or a rifle.
Having said that, i’ve mained a warrior since release and nothing has changed my playstyle. after over 1200hr played i think i don’t even have the mace skills unlocked even. I hate that weapon.
S/(wh or shield) – (GS or Hammer).
I haven’t felt a single bit happier with any buffs and i will care less if we get nerfed to the ground.
Warrior for life.
Will I get my second legendary? Hell yeah. Do, take in consideration that to do that, I will have to plan 3 months ahead of time to:
1) Do champ trains for 2 hours or less
2) Do one Scarlet invasion
3) Do fun stuff or just sell stuff and log out.
In 3 hours of game play i can make between 10-25g including mats that I save for gifts
Don’t expect to get a legendary any time soon by doing things which do not contribute towards it.
I find that going full atomic bomb on people as a D/D thief works best for 1v1’s. You give them enough time, those condition tanks will outlast you. As for group wvw, going tanky is better i think
It’ll drop when you don’t need it, it will never drop when you do need it.
Pretty much this. Even if you pretend you don’t need it but have a secret desire about it, it will still not drop. You have to literally not need it at all. The universe is quite weird about kitten like that.
Got my bolt without a precursor drop, never gambled in the mystic toilet apart from clovers and grinded orr, trolls for gold.
Second time around, going for the incinerator and it looks much faster to get the gifts now but the precursor itself is over 700g.
Just as before, i refuse to gamble thus saving myself from a great suprise or an even greater disappointment.
What the OP wants is that when a thief is in the vicinity of 6 enemies, the thief should automatically die.
And obviously has never seen a warrior go through a 50 man zerg and live to tell the story.

First, the build
This build obviously depends on applying conditions but it has a certain strength which is a very powerful torment. With the runes of Tormenting i can maintain 100% torment on the target which is quite devastating when using a condition build. I have tested this and i have been having a blast kiting people while applying bleeds + burn. The best part is that Torment literally gets stronger against more mobile builds which is great for runners. The catch off-course is to practice impale because it can miss quite a bit.
I have often seen that S/S + LB is not very flexible in terms of mobility outside Signet of Rage and sword #2. Also, condition builds usually lack control outside LB #5.This is why i use bulls rush. It can serve as mobility+control. I use it a lot as an escape, gap closer or stunning an opponent to save an ally. Sometimes i replace this with ‘Fear Me’
Skills:
Healing Signet is key. Our passive healing + Dogged March + Mango pie are are strong enough for me to consider this the best option.
Endure Pain + Balanced Stance are a must since everyone and their grandma are running stuns, especially Mace/SH + Hammer warriors. Feel free to replace one of the two with Berserker Stance if needed.
Traits:
Defence IX: Cleansing Ire: must have for this build, do to lack of other condition removals. Using Berserker stance can improve this issue.
Arms XI: For a very quick adrenaline refill Synergizes amazingly well with Cleansing Ire.
Discipline X: Vey helpful when being chased and or chasing someone. Can be used to enhance gap closing and escaping.
Sigils:
Superior Sigils of Doom. Amazing against passive healing builds + another condition. Very cheap too.
Pros:
- Extremely effective condition damage which includes Bleed, Burn, Poison and most importantly a very strong Torment
- Great for kiting.
- Not a meta build. People will run after you or away from and get themselves killed.
- Great Buffer tank with lots of HP
Cons:
- Lack of toughness.
- Condition removal depends on Cleansing Ire.
- Lack of control outside Bulls Rush.
- Torment takes practice to land against skilled players.
Will test this further and list any additional observations.

The bleeds need to be changed into something more like torment to be viable, as it last cleansed. There is no amount of immobilize that is going to make up for eviscerate or 100b doing 10k crits if other classes have so much cleansing and stun breakers.
Warriors need something like conditions that bypasses armor rating altogether to deal their damage. With all these ‘armor skills/boons’ that mitigate damage we need a counter. Even go as far as natural boon removal as a trait, chance at skill interrupts and breaking channel skills.
Sword 4 does cause torment. All conditions do bypass armour/toughness. Add superior runes that poison on weap swap and longbow Cripple>bleeds>torment>poison>burning>immobilize>blind That’s 7 conditions, 5 of which are conditions that all bypass armour.
Exactly what im using
Its the #3 sword ability that is the worst in the game currently. i currently run s/s + LB and god this is one ability i never ever use.
No reasonable player is going to stay foot and wait for you to cast that ability. There are other skills that do more damage and are way less predictable. Even axe #2 is better than it.
Just posting to let OP know that i have gone over an experimental and extremely viable S/S LB build which offers amazing condition damage and enough Survivability/mobility to 1vX

Not too long ago i had posted something similar to this in the Elitist forum and surprisingly i was treated with kindess and understasnding.
Getting back to this Nortorious matter, Perma-Stun Warriors are out of control, everything you stated are factual.
As a ranger, even using “stun breakers”, i barely can escape from thier Perma-Stun madness.
I’m glad i’m not alone in this, and Arena.net need to get serious of ending Favoritsm for their Elite classes.
At the moment,
Injustice and Tyranny are what Dominates gw2 world.

Justice is ‘thrown under the rug’ countless times.

@Ath: I am curious as to why you think the shield would be superior in general. Could you say more?
Sure thing. As it has been already mentioned above, the shield can prove to be an invaluable defensive weapon due to the fact that it provides both control and defense. The stun can be used defensively or aggressively as well, especially when you expect someone to heal. I have scored numerous kills by preventing my enemy their heals and the shield was the only stun i had off cd. Sword offhand has absolutely no control and very limited defense. It does come with a nice condition though. Still, sword OH is more situational whereas the shield pretty much fits in almost everywhere, whether it is 1v1 or 1vx.
Having said that i am looking around checking out the S/S M/S build mentioned by Ajaxx because it looks like its really fun

I use it for fun but at most times the shield will be a far superior offhand.
You just listed all the wrong reasons that legendaries should be account bound and backed them up with tedious calculations.
Legendaries are not officially tradable yet, are they? Unless you refer to transmuting to a white, moving it and then using a splitter..

I have recently seen a lot of very tanky, very damaging warriors running around WvW with a build close to this:
I am not sure of the exact traits/armor, but I assume that is the approximate setup b/c this build was very tanky and did very good damage, which probably means knights.
There were 3 of us (1 ele, 1 mesmer, 1 guard who joined in later) trying to pin this guy down and kill him, and we were unable to. I thought warriors were supposed to be weak to cripple/immob, but with this build, any kind of control just completely falls off like its nothing. It was hard enough even keeping up with him in the fight, and not even being able to control him in any way gave him free reign of movement. It seemed like old bunker ele out there, but with better damage + stuns with the way he zipped around at will.
In looking at this build, it has great mobility, a great amount of blocks/invulns, and very high access to damage through skull-crack/HB, as well as whirl, rush, and gs auto being respectable. It also can handle conditions very well with cleansing ire, balanced stance, and its mobility if it gets in trouble.
My question is, how can you handle this build. It doesn’t seem to have any weaknesses that we could figure out. We tried coordinating burst, but the invulns prevent that from going far at all (one is automatic, one is on-demand, one is on shield, and mace blocks 1 attack). We tried CCing and killing, but our amount of CC was unable to control him long enough, and there is access to stability on-demand. As mentioned before, crippling and kiting was useless as those condis just slide off instantly. The one strat we couldn’t try was condi-bursting, but I suspect Zerker’s stance+cleansing Ire would survive that. Anytime we worked this guy down low, he would simply outrun us with the GS amazing mobility.
What strategy were we missing for handling this. Yes, the build is very much a 1-trick pony, but its a 1-trick pony that doesn’t have a weakness I can figure out.
Any help from those with experience from the build?

Many people have the misconception that winning means killing your opponent 1v1. I dont’t really agree to this because it stupidities the idea of fight where the 2 opponents are not necessarily built for a face to face brawl.
In my honest opnion of over 1100 hrs on a warrior:
1) If they are sword/x + GS do not expect to catch up to them easily but don’t expect to be stunned much either. They trade control for mobility.
2) If they are mace/X + hammer do not expect them to be able to catch up to you if you decide to run. They trade mobility for control
3) If they are using a mix of mobility and cc (ex sword/X + Hammer) then they are the jack of all trades, master of none, just like any class can be.
Some tips for M/sh + Hammer:
1) Kite the warrior until they are bored and they run away. To me that’s as good as winning.
2) kite them onto your zerg and watch them being unable to do anything while they die a horrible and gruesome death. If they were not smart enough to expect it, they deserved it.
3) If you want to stay and fight, mobility and ranged attacks are your best options.
If they use a GS, its hard to catch up to them.

Someone with the slightest mobility can outrun you.Its basically a stay and fight build.
Overall good skill though, but i would like to see more 1v2

And whats with everyone caring if someone runs away from them or running away from fights? quit being kittenes, stay and fight.
You are preoccupied with the idea that winning means staying and fighting, especially when you use an fotm cookie cutter build. On top of that you are set in your ideas and ignoring every kind of advice and constructive posts written in your post. If you don’t like criticism, don’t post on the forums at all.

Sword, and not at all because of final thrust. Unless you have solid support and mobility from team mates, axe is horrible for mobility and eviscerate has a horrible range, requiring you to use a stun to make it land.
I’ve seen axe/wh + gs builds before which have been effective but good luck conrtolling anyone with that.
Game isn’t balanced around 1v1’s.

If i could provide one little tip: if you could do autocast on point instead of click, that would be a skill +1. Takes some practice but once you get used to it it will make you less predictable. Also, souldbinding sheathe/unsheathe weapon and using it when you expect your attack to miss, can save you useful cd time.

Imagine the precursor crafting in similar terms as the ascended weapon crafting, quite likely more time gated and resource consuming. If they wanted everyone to run around with legendaries (which they already do btw) they would have made it easier long ago. There is not really a precursor price issue to solve here. Prices are increasingly slightly over time, considering that more money into the economy means that gold is devalued, thus, demanded items cost more gold.
Also, i don’t have a precursor to sell as i had gotten my legendary over half a year ago and i have no intention to go over the grind once again.

The moment a Warrior is on the defensive he has lost.
Could not disagree more. I can’t count the times when i went defensive to let my health regen kick in, or kited someone just to come back and finish them off in a nicely handled chain stun.
The best weapon is to make your opponent think you are losing the fight, then suprise them.
I would agree with you if this was wow. Thank God its not.

Considering to start saving to get my second legendary to match bolt so its either going to be a shield or a warhorn. I do like the new effects of howler but definitely do not like FS profecies. I might wait to see what the new legendaries will be before committing to the grind again.
I’m not sure if someone noticed this but there are no bigger footballs. There are just double footballs for every step when you walk in slow motion. Not sure if that’s how it was before but…can we get a response from Anet on whether this is intended?
I feel like a melee class that can’t manage to stay on target easy enough and always having to wear runes of melandru + dogged march+ lemongrass and dedicate most of my utilities to condition cleanse to just stay up in wvw and tPvP. PvE I beat the hell out of everything with my full zerker gear and gs because they dont dodge.
Play a guardian and tell what you feel.
My first class I got to 80 was guardian and I can stay on my targets quite easy. GS leap, Sword teleport, Judges, Plenty of ways to get in and out. Half the time I am ranged though with a scepter so it doesn’t even matter.
Guardian – 2 teleports 1 leap without sacrificing a utility slot for a long cooldown sprint. Escaping from combat involves finding targets away from the enemy to teleport to which 7/10 is not the case which leaves you with 1 leap skill to get away.
Warriors – Perma Sprint, lord knows how many leaping/dashing moves, ability to cripple, immobilise and stun, mobility trait that breaks immobilises. If the warrior really wants to leg it he’s pretty much half way across the map before you can say Sausage and Bacon.
Agreed but guardians are a pain in the kitten when warriors stay and fight :P
Healing signet combined with Dogged March, Adrenal health and a cheap food like mango pie is currently a quite good choice for warriors. If you can dodge well and use a shield, a lot of the burst can be avoided/mitigated.
It is mentioned that it is weak against burst, which is partly true because its the weakest direct heal but again…it depends on skill.
Definitely the best healing ability (again when optimized) for longer fights
Theres Uncle Shags 1vx vid, where he’s sw/sh and Hammer.
Lord Titan, Shags, myself, Callahan, Puandro and some of the best roamers use that combo.
I swap every so often.
Nothing impressive about that video.
- Pops all cds and hopes for a kill quickly. Ends up putting little pressure afterwards.
- Uses Berserker stance aggressively. No condition removal whatsoever. A good condition build player would rip him to shreds
- It takes him 2 seconds to cast earthshaker by point and click. A successful stun chain should happen by autocast on click. Otherwise, too predictable.
-He is underutilizing his shield and warhorn skills and tanks it with hammer. Ends up dying against most 1v2
- No fight against a skilled player or hard counter class. Where are the Bunker ele/condition mesmer or stun/passive regen warriors?
Not sure if this is how some of the “best roamers” roll but i wouldn’t suggest showcasing that video as an example

In the beginning, it wasn’t that great. But now, i’m loving it. S/S is a lot of fun. I’m glad they finally made it viable, cuz to be honest it sucked in the beginning and I’ve always been a fan of dual swords. I love seeing people come at me thinking they can own me, then running away like scared little children bleeding to death, while I hunt them down, closing in on them, ready to strike the final blow. Then I impale them while they’re down and sit and watch them die slowly as they struggle to rally. HAHA! Yeah i’m a kitten, but they had it comng.
I’d really like to try s/s again but it just still doesnt seem viable. It used to be my favorite build months ago but the current meta is dictated by condition builds and thus a skilled player will counter it. More specifically: Passive healing builds with condition removal and good control will give you some trouble.
The main issue with warrior conditions is that we don’t apply much of anything else except a stack of bleeds. Condition removals consider bleeds to be #1 priority wise and even 25 stacks go away with one ability, if we ever manage to get that high which is doubtful.
Let us not forget that warriors have to close the gap and stay on enemies to apply high stacks.
