I’m glad that they’re not adding armor with this update… not because I don’t want new armor, but because I’d hate crab armor.
But they could give us tropical bikini’s!
Crab bikinis
Won’t those pinch?
I wouldn’t mind such a mechanism for some maps.
If Kessex Hills has too many victories for the Krait and the Centaurs (read that as not many players out there helping the events out) then some bosses get stronger and drop better stuff.
It would get higher level players back into zones and lower level folks can tag along to accomplish their goals.
Give.
Me.
My.
Tengu.
Well, I think it would be a bit odd if all players became Grand Marshalls.
I think the players should control the Pact indirectly. i. e. Trahearne is in charge, but he gets orders from you.
This way you could say the Pact is guided by a mysterious group of fighters above everything, the true protectors of Tyria whose names will never be known.
That’s basically what I got from most of the cinematics.
“Trahearne we have this neat bibblededoo to stop the Risen!”
“Or we can simply use this Ermbibble to do the same thing.”
(Trahearne): “Hmmm we do need to stop the Hamena Hamena, so what do you think is best Commander?”
(The Player): “I choose the bibblededoo.”
Personally, I never realized how important open worlds were until i played the heavily instanced SWTOR. You lose a significant level of immersion when the world stops appearing so seamless.
Then they should allow duels in WvW.
‘Avenger of the Dispossessed’ or ’Combat Medic’ because as a Guardian I feel they fit rather well.
If they allowed open world PvP it doesn’t make much sense.
Let’s say someone starts up a fight near a Dynamic Event.
Do the combatants agro the nearby animals or mobs?
Does the damage from either the PvP or the PvE activities affect one another?
If they don’t, if the PvP doesn’t affect the Event or vice versa, then what’s the point of having PvP in a area which doesn’t need it in the first place?
I don’t mind there being duels in the PvP designated zones called the Mists, but having it in PvE areas just doesn’t make sense. Let’s just call this what it really should be: Some folks want bigger more different maps to PvP. That’s okay to say, in fact it is a logical desire.
I don’t think they will. They didn’t do it for the Halloween and Christmas dungeons.
Those are seasonal and I could see why they are temporary. This isn’t and still has some potential to leave it in.
Though that’s not ANet’s way apparently. They’ll make this all temporary, give us little stuff that is permanent, and still say the world is changing when it really hasn’t to a noticeable degree.
If anything it could be a ‘traveling’ dungeon for the game.
Yeah Rox and Braham hit them hard and they’ve scattered a bit, but there’s got to be pockets of them working on things.
Even if the dungeon was reworked without the two heroes it would be a fun diversion and change the world a bit.
As much as I do like the idea of Living Story we should have some things permanent so it doesn’t feel like Flavor of the Month content all the time.
With the Karka event the most we got was the island itself, which didn’t have much. Now with this SouthSun going in to put something there we should have activities that are lasting past the story time.
I’d rather be beating 1,000 polar-bears with the same piece of wood rather than using it to build even one sign.
For some reason I want to see this as a minigame.
Whack-a-bear!
Based on a living story
The Norns won’t appreciate this.
I’ll just leave this here…
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Bear_Club_for_Men
Search your feelings, you know you want to revamp this for GW2.
It is your destiny!
Yes I am totally doing a Darth Vader clench from ESB at this moment.
I’d rather be beating 1,000 polar-bears with the same piece of wood rather than using it to build even one sign.
For some reason I want to see this as a minigame.

Dedication to PvE seems to be considered worthless when compared to dedication to WvW – i suppose this comes from the ‘ease’ of PvE content in this game, but honestly its still disrespectful to pass off this hard work as nothing….
Thank you for the well constructed post looking at both sides of this argument.
And you are right, WvW needs to have accomplishments and rewards that are only theirs while PvE folks not need to explore the Battlegrounds in order to get a Map Completion.
I’m not even going to get into the Legendaries, because for some its just getting that Map to 100% which matters.
Fact is compared to PvX stuff the WvW community is getting borked over and hard.
The players shouldn’t require going to PvE for money just to repair. The sweat and accomplishments of the battles should be enough.
Maybe if ANet allowed Repair canisters to be bought with Badges and they only be WvW useful that could help. There’s plenty of other things they could work on, based on the stuff I’ve read so far. Far more experienced minds than mine could put together better ideas.
I’ve only played on WvW a couple of times because Map complete required it. Though every time I did I tried to donate siege plans (thank you Commander Ice for telling me how otherwise they would have been discarded).
She’s been turned by the Dark Side.
She’s now Darth Attilla, okay the name needs work but it is rather spooky!
-Along that line and this goes with the XP thing, if I’m in a bind players will run up and bail me out. This has happened more times than I can count. I try to do the same when I have the opportunity.
This made me smile and I’m glad you are enjoying the experience.
All we can do is pay it forward to the next newbie or lowbie.
And that’s on our good days
The bad days invoke the Mos Eisley quote from Star Wars.
I do not find casual or hardcore to be very useful terms as they seem to hold many meanings for people.
For me:
Casual play is what happens when you log on to “just play”. Not long term goal oriented. Short term goals during play may happen. “Just one more skill point and this map is finished.”Standard play is what happens when you are logging in occasionally to do “something specific” whether running some CoF or WvWing with your Guild. This is the first section that pre-scheduled play happens. Long term goals influence your play choices.
Hardcore play is what happens when most of the time you are logging in you already have pre-scheduled plans. Long term goals dominate your play choices.
Good definition, because that’s how I see the differences as well.
I casually play, but I put in a lot of hours for it. 3-4 hours each weekday and most of the entire Saturday if possible goes into the game, but I don’t ever have a outline on what I do.
There’s the occasional “I want to finish this Personal Story mission” or I’ve never tried this dungeon, but most of my time is running around helping people and drifting with no real objective.
It infuriates some people on my friends list that they can never synch up what I want to do versus what they are doing right now.
I deadline wasn’t announced in-game! So the players are supposed to get the info on external sources?
The articles were in the loading launcher for the game.
Every time you signed in it was there.
Even if you never look at that (which isn’t possible to me) you could have asked someone on map chat. I know there were plenty of conversations about it in my server world.
I shall rememebr it forever as the event that divided anet’s customer base into two groups;
The first group that said, “we don’t mind you having as many dungeons as you want, but please don’t put them into the vital story arcs because not everybody likes or runs dungeons”
The second group who said. “STFU and go and play a single player game if you don’t like dungeons you mob of whiny, anti-social etc etc etc.”
Very sad but that’s my strongest memory
This event was the moment for you? Laughs
That’s been going on since the Personal Story.
I’m going to read this, chuckle, then get back to DC online. :p
Strange as it sounds, I think that’s where Guild Missions will go.
I haven’t participated in any, but that seems like the perfect place for ArenaNet to make such a thing possible.
The Searing has been mentioned here and there in events, but the Searing itself is over a century or two old. So the impact isn’t as strong compared to surviving it in the first GW.
so my life sucks
Well I wouldn’t go that far, but this is one of the times I really hope the folks making this game work on it as soon possible.
I read the link from that other discussion and wow both sides were heated.
I do agree that WvW and PvE should be separate, more than how it is now.
We don’t need dailies or prizes that mix the two because if someone really wants to try it out they’ll take the effort to do so.
I’ve “gotten my feet wet” with IoJ WvW and no thank you.
Luckily I got blue covered in the map now, when we get red or green it will improve for me.
I agree with most of the posts here.
When you play PvE almost exclusively, map out all 90-ish% of the map and are halted by the remaining 10-5% it get rather depressing.
We have a PvP game with PvE things, there should be an exporable map that is clear of fighting. Even better it should have been removed from the requirements of Map Completion at least. I’m not even caring about Legendaries at this point.
I’ve said it in other threads like this, but the moment this ever goes subscription (even tiered payments like sub/partial/f2p) I’d uninstall and leave forever.
The Flameseeker Prophecies is my absolute favorite.
A glorious looking shield for a Guardian, which is my main character, the colors look right, and it harkens back to GW1.
Overall it has that great combination of things to make it a truly legendary weapon.
I wanna kill it!
As Guardian I’ve always loved Hounds of Balthazar, but then again I spam Spirit Weapons like crazy.
I play PVE exclusively. With this said the Guardian handles Mace/Shield better.
Especially if you put traits towards the Honor line, because it does wonders towards symbols like Symbols of Faith.
As for a second weapon set, either Scepter/Shield or Greatsword.
Warriors and maces can be used, but I rarely do. Most of the time the Warrior’s damage mitigation comes from putting more into the target so he dies quicker.
Guardians have insane amounts of mitigation for themselves and allies.
I want it to be some Asurans, maybe Inquest were using them via proxy havoc or something.
Joke’s on you guys, Zommoros is immune to burning.
I doubt Miyani is…
She’s just a pawn in the scheme.
She’s also possibly the last Paragon ever.
She’s also kinda cute.
Here I’ll take her in custody for interrogation as to what she knows.
Kill the genie, I don’t care.
Def still dropping … not sure what a black bear was doing with one, but he dropped it, and that was only one of the three I picked up last night.
The Bear must have eaten some artist who was painting or collecting plants for dyes.
no new armor models in the southsun shore story stuff.
Although looking like a crab would be pretty sweet.
Then make it happen please
Guardian Zoidberg wants to be popular!
Skrillex the Norn.
Dropped the mace lol.
I get 2 or 3 every couple of days, usually I’ll sell just one and use the rest.
Yeah nothing about the term Massive Multiplayer Online implies being with groups at times.
Except for the first two words “Massive” and “Multiplayer” being together.Annnd…what does that have to do with being in groups? Massive refers to the world setting being massive, especially compared to the rather small worlds usually found in any game not made by Bethesda. Multiplayer means there are other players in the world. There’s nothing in either of those words that says a thing about being forced to team up with those other players. For that matter, there’s nothing there that says anything about actually interacting with those other players, just that they’re in the same game world as you are.
And yet in gaming culture the term MMO usually refers to games where people come together, solve a problem, and are awarded because of it. The problem could be some big bad AI creature threatening things or another group of humans who need to be stopped because of some goal established by the game.
So once again this game was created for people to come together and complete objectives, thus getting rewards.
You may not like the idea of an instanced 5 man dungeon, for the record I’m never keen it either nor the guild part, but its going to be there. The gaming culture expects it thanks to various titles in the past that supplied such things for Online RPGs.
I love how people try to dissect my quote as if that is going to help combat the fact that we will have group instances. The current gamer mindset practically is indoctrinated to find those kitten things.
What GW2 does well is give others options that are away from it, so maybe it will help ‘deprogram’ folks. However we will still have these things and either must accept this or constantly make topics about how we don’t like them and never face the fact it won’t change.
Now I agree with most of the posts saying it shouldn’t be the main focus for the ending, but considering the alternative was the massive zerg battle with lag and not the Karka I’d say we can’t really win this argument.
Guardian would work well. I remember posting in another thread similar the following:
So how do they work? Quite effectively once you think about the Charr Warband.
The Legion is mother, the legion is father, but the Warband is family.
No one hurts family without paying a hefty price.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/charr/Lore-for-Charr-Guardian/first#post1490057
This thread is a joke because it’s about Logan Thackeray.
Yeah but we can’t just simply leave it….much like Logan.
Well yeah what they did to the prisoners was evil, but I’m hating on them more for pulling me in and attacking while I’m doing dailies. lol
I’ll remember it as a time they took a chance to alter the maps in a small way.
I’ll also remember that I hate the Molten and will gladly curbstomp any members of them I see in the future.
It’s a berry good thread
Somehow I feel the whole Southsun bsns will end along these line… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggyC0FOzqHM
It will then be best product GW2 ever had. Alestorm is awesome!
I should play Leviathan while killing Karka on my computer.
When you create a guild you have 0 slot guildbank.
you can unlock this by investing with influnce point.
So if you want a guildbank for yourself
1. have crazy tons of gold to buy influnce
2. solo guild member and fam influnce
3. evil genius invite people let them get it, then kick them >:-)
I’ll do #1 and #2, but I have ethics so #3 will never happen.
In fact my guild is just for me and the bank. It doesn’t take that much when you sell a rare or two and purchase the influence. The time needed to research it is the hassle for me.
As other stated, non bound items go into the guild bank. I tend to dump the food and potions I craft there while everything else goes into my normal bank.
Slowly but surely working my way up the bank sizes.
Harathi Hinterlands is sometimes quiet at the IoJ.
I don’t mind fighting Centaurs, but usually I get my fill of cracking their skulls at Queensdale really.
I think the Guild Treks and other guild missions are fun ways for the zones to get some extra attention, but for individuals there should be a scavenger hunt akin to the refugees lost items in F&F that could count as a Daily. Reward the player with some silver or karma, that way at least the WP cost was covered.
I would like for there to be a title for throwing crabs.
Title: “I have crabs”
Yeah nothing about the term Massive Multiplayer Online implies being with groups at times.
Except for the first two words “Massive” and “Multiplayer” being together.Someone needs to learn what the word massive means hint not 5 ppl, doing DE events sums up MMO more than dungeons, leave dungeons were they belong 2004 / wow, gw2 does group events beter though DEs and should be the focus of this game. Think of a chain event of DEs like the temples for the end of flame story instead of another lame dungeon? More ppl see the content = more ppl happy
Someone also needs to learn that more people fighting something means bigger lag.
Karka anyone? Exactly.
Even though it pains me to say it, gamers tend to expect dungeon style stuff because of the indoctrination of WoW and other titles like it. Do I particularly want 5 man dungeons being a requirement for a storyline? Nope.
Will I completely eradicate them from the game? Oh I wish I could, but in order to keep some gamers we have to entertain the possibility they still exist in our GW2.

Braham, on the contrary, I don´t like him. He looks to me like the eternal secondary, behind of the real protagonists.
That’s great for me. Since I’m supposed to be the hero he can be a decent second fiddle—-er mace, whatever.
New beach-based attire.
That could work for my Charr.
I can never find anything for him that I like.
