So far I have Maverick and Reeva in my non beta games. Once I level 80 a couple of alts I might buy another character slot to make a Charr for Dinky.
Lord Faren is just a bragging Ted Darcy from Married with Children.
The Shield and Moon mission, others have stated there are heterosexual couples in the game.
During NPC conversations I’ve listened to a female Sylvari tell her female friend that she’s going after this one guy and such.
Overall though the idea of hetero/homosexual relationships is moot with the Sylvari.
Ree Soesbee said it best:
“Romance and sex is practiced among the sylvari, disregarding gender between those involved. To a sylvari, love is about inspiration, and it has nothing at all to do with the physical form.”
Last time I chose Dinky was during Beta and I played Blood Legion.
Strange thing is for someone as…“Special” as he, there were a couple of good ideas from him.
Rename the warband because he wants to forget the old leader even existed. I had one of those moments where you are just about to correct someone then realise “Wow no wait that’s right.”
I think the Elder Dragons ate the Human Gods. That would explain why they left the Humans completely.
I’ll probably play LOTRO just to get my money’s worth on the new expansion, but since I don’t pay sub fees there either I’ll switch between these two games.
Even they are starting to look at their tap system (attacking enemies) and wonder if they could do something similiar to GW2.
I like it initially, but I also think that after you reach lvl 80 there should be some extra skills you can mix into your 1-5 slots like you can choose skills for your 6-9 spots.
It could reflect how legendary your prowess is with that weapon. It would also give ArenaNet some new ways to make a weapon more interesting.
Is it a Conflict of Interest for the other races to do Charr missions?

I think that some of the Humans would want them attacked and destroyed as a way of giving them peace.
Norns would do it because there’s a disturbance in the Mists or whatever and this is an act of valor to the great Spirits.
Sylvari are all about preserving live and if remenants of the dead are hurting living beings it is their duty to protect.
Asura would bottle ghosts up and sell them as battery packs if given the chance.
Your minions are withing well established necromancy regulations.
These regulations were written down by agreement between Humans, Charr, and Asura.
Sylvari weren’t there for it, but we eventually brought them in line
ArenaNet regulation standard 665 of the revival mortality code states:
“Don’t revive family that have become ex persons within the past 6 months.”
“No bringing back family pets either.”
“Do not utter Klatu Barata Necktie.”
There was a whole section on skeletons but it was a very dry proposal.
Charr are just like me….and they probably wouldn’t want to live in Texas either.
Hey Texas isn’t that ba—-oh who am I kidding? lol
I’ve been here for nearly two decades and still some days I don’t understand the natives.
The Charr are atheists in the sense that they won’t worship any beings with greater power, but rather find a way to kill them and settle that little discussion once and for all.
Remember that one of the choices in being a Thief was a headband to show how gruff and meanacing you are. I can see a Norn Thief go the thug route and showing he’s tough against anyone.
Heck I’d love a dueling court mission for the Sylvari romances.
I remember hearing some NPC conversation talk about that and I wondered, “Where the heck is that?! I wanna go see!”I would like something like that too. maybe like “this person looks interested in you, but to earn his/her favor, and win their heart, you have to defeat the other suitors.”
Make it really risky that if you lose then you lose that romantic chance with the NPC.
Drama queen with good taste for woman.
Good taste in women? Since when did Logan switch from the Queen to Countess Anise?
Is there a ‘Like this post’ button? Because I’ll break the poor thing liking this post.
Anise, dat voice, happy sigh
Don’t get too sassy, Charr engineers have perfected a non-selective herbicide aerial bomb. Would be a shame to detonate a few over that stupid tree of yours.
Was this before or after your vaunted engineers formulated a multi-cat style of litter?
Your momma’s IQ is so low the Sea Dragon is closer to the surface.
Puts in a tub of ‘I Can’t believe its not butter’ with his butter collectables
Watches world explode
A sword.
Useful tool in some situations but easily disposed of when a better one comes along.
Oh and not really worth the salvage.
Well outside the GW world I’d say:
“Your Asuran mother’s IQ is so low when you say Prodigy she says ‘No I use AOL’!”
Inside the GW world:
“Your mother’s IQ is so low when we discuss the Searing she thinks it was about her biscuits getting burned.”
Butter should be the new swear word filter instead of kitten
Thank goodness she doesn’t frequent a lot of forums!
Oh geez she can check my history on this thing!
Gotta clean out this moment right now! lol
I kinda like the OP’s pic. Maybe its just the hairstyle but that Asura is adorable.
Yes but we can actually use them. Whereas you Charr just mew for treats.
Ask around in the map chats, explore, gather, craft when you want, and overall just let curiousity take over when you play!
If you ever want someone to join up you can message me, I’m on the ilse of Janthir world server.
Pay or free I would love for them to make missions that connect GW1 to GW2.
Just like GW1 is advancing with GW Beyond, I’d love to see some “historical” missions from GW2 bridging the gap.
Heck I’d love a dueling court mission for the Sylvari romances.
I remember hearing some NPC conversation talk about that and I wondered, “Where the heck is that?! I wanna go see!”
I’ll be sure to send my Asuran merchant near the citadel with catnip and balls of yarn.
In the core you have the jail, its a small spot just as you enter turn to the right and its there. Sorta placed in between the main floor and the bane. That irritated me to no end.
Guardian, commoner, lost sister and I didn’t mind it too much. It just worked for my guy.
Thief, streets upbringing, lost parents and I’m so far close to the last mission and like it.
Though after reading the spoilers about the circus I might want to make another Human!
At least let me rewatch the cinematics so I can help out the wikis I frequent.
I think Lion’s Arch is corrupting Charr values lol.
There’s even a conversation between two Charr about wanting traditional fahrar values, but at the same time their children must work with the outside world and other races.
The Charr didn’t lose Ascalon to the Humans because of “arrogance” issues. They lost because the human gods gave humans magic which the Charr didn’t know about or could use. This led to the search for gods not to worship but to get power.
True but having their Khan Ur assassinated around that time frame didn’t help because their society started fracturing in places. Legions started thinking about Legion first and not Charr first. That helped the humans out.
Basically the Guild Wars did the same thing to the humans. Instead of focusing on a single threat they looked internally. That weakens you against external forces.
Humans are paying their dues still and I like it.
I’ve explored sections of the map and were rewarded with some nice medium armor!
However I’m a Guardian.
I’m not sure if this was a bug considering how my other characters obtained similiar, if not the same, thing however they could use it since they wear medium armor.
I hope this is looked at some time in the future.
Oh sweet Eternal Alchemy, yes! I never ever want to hear about raptor eggs ever again.
But…
But…
Any plan involving raptors is fool proof! I am an umitigated genuis!
How many of you read that in the Asura’s voice? Be honest
I’ve actually stopped watching the review videos and reading articles about this game because of one question I kept asking myself: “Are you having fun?”
I never got my answer because I’m still logged in playing, but maybe that is my answer.
A good game ‘Net! I’ll post bugs to help make this game better.
I want them to be behind Cantha’s xenophobia now. A puppet emperor serving the last mursaat, a relic of the ancient times. Now steepling fingers in evil manner lol
My wife has stated if ArenaNet ever sold Quaggan plushies I am ordered to buy one.
Cute little melonheaded beluga looking things lol.
Steampunk Kilrathi, what’s not to love?
Actually the Kilrathi worshipped Sivar the war Goddess. However as a fellow Wing Commander fan I salute the intent of this post!
Just give a limit on what is being dyed, but still I love the idea of matching my weapons to my gear!
They’re legit, and truly an icon of self-dependence. They feel… it’s hard to explain, but there’s a confidence to them. It’s like… to heck with this world, we’re doing things our way. It’s a confidence that I admire.
They feel very TTGL, their drills will pierce the heavens. lol
I’ll be in some area alone and yet I’l hear other races right next to me.
Which is kind of jarring when I’m a Charr guy climbing a jumping puzzle and I hear “I could outrun a Centaur!” but no one is there.
I would have stayed and helped the Edge.
Snaff wouldn’t have died, the guild would still be alive, Rytlock and I would have helped the Orders find that Claw of the Khan-Ur and beat down Riona for even thinking of trying what she did.
Granted the peace would be shaky but truce talks could be made. Then the Dragons hit and thus more conflict.
However this is all wishful thinking on my part
One of my characters is named Carth Blair. I’m part of a guild that is easy going, but we haven’t planned much on activities lately. We’re more of a “if you need help speak up and someone will come by” type of guild lately.
If you ever want to group up with me and I’ll see if I can get some guildies to come we could all talk. Our leader uses voice skype, much to my grumbling lol, but overall we’re friendly. I’m also on Janthir.
I’ll explain it in a brief way I explained them to my friends.
They aren’t elves from InsertfantasynameDale, they are new. They see the world from new eyes. It would be like playing Humans just as the Gods brought them to Tyria.
They are exploring everything from the lands down to their own personal feelings and even gender interactions in relationships.
The very idea of existing is new to them and I like this aspect.
Come on ANet, show the big girls some love please…. norn and human!
I have to agree with this. When some of the vendors look nicer and more robust than the players that’s telling of a system.
Oh Karma vendor in the Norn starting area, don’t you see that tall Norn Necro doesn’t need that much basil? He wants more, he wants…
I seemed to have gone off on a tangent. Sorry. lol
Like others stated, the reputation of the Norns in question must be fairly equal because your name is the big thing you leave behind in their culture.
If there are divorces it might be looked at with some stigma to the “lesser”, the one whose name isn’t well recognized. However I think they take a Kahless and Lady Lukara style to life (Star Trek fans know what I’m talking about).
The two become one and take on life together. Double the weapons, double the hunt, double the fun!
From a Lore PoV they got arrogant with themselves and petty. The Charr were like that once and were pushed back from Ascalon because of it. Now the Humans have to pay their due. I like it. I like having a fantasy-style Battlestar Galactica take on the Humans: We are so borked yet we still believe.
Sivarson Greyfur.
I loved the Kilrathi’s war Goddess Sivar in Wing Commander so I had to honor that race with the Charr. Greyfur because I have a fluffy cat at home with grey and white fur. The character creator allowed me to make a cat close to what he looks like too.
I like the Klingons in Star Trek, though I don’t like the Orcs in WoW, but I love the Charr’s take on life.
They basically killed their so-called gods, ate them, and pooped out an Industrial Revolution.
That is awesome to me. I loved the Rytlock statue in my CE box. Also I was going to play every race anyways. So a warrior and Engineer Charr was perfect!
What keeps me playing?
I’m having fun.
I like helping folks take down big evil things.
I like crafting items.
I will eventually try out PvP, haven’t done that since BWE2.
In the open world I’ll tend to leave whatever I’m doing to find and revive downed or defeated players.
Humming to myself as I walk to a vista on the map
See a downed player icon clearly in the other direction
Perform about face and start heading to character
Usually a downed or defeated person will mean a fun fight I can join!
