Still not my cup of tea, but I’m optimistic with any update. Just going to have to see how it is.
I would much prefer less technology, and more fantasy/medieval appeal. Every update almost has been more-so about lasers, sonic, flying, etc. Less about magic, dark fantasy settings.
Well Tyria is advancing past the time of GW1 afterall.
Just think about how things were 250 years ago for us.Anyways all I can say is this gives me a faint smell of CANTHAAAA!!!
Yea I know, I just mean the general direction as the game stands. I’m not happy with it, but I would still prefer this game over any other mmo out there.
There’s always hope they’ll do something more magical in a release. After all in this game Asura mix the two (science and magic) quite a bit, humans still have their religion, Norn have their spirits, and the Sylvari are still experimenting with this world for experiences.
Belcher’s Bluff sounds like a mini-game version of the Whispers story line competition.
Dear Gods I hope so, I loved that drinking game!
Also I am jazzed up about having something for the Home Instance. That poor little corner of the map looks so lonely and boring at times.
Well first off, thank you Quartz! It is about darn time we had something that made the Home Instances worth something.
Content being released every two weeks: Sounds like an interesting experiment, but I’ll wait until a month before I officially think its awesome or suckage.
I like the idea of travelling merchants in the air. Maybe I’ve been re-watching Airbender too much and fallen in love with the concept of Air Nomads.
The biggest highlight for me is the Achievements finally getting some rewards.
Overall I’m still slightly optimistic, I really do think they’ve started making positive strides ever since Dragon Bash for this Living Story stuff. Southsun was the nice turning point for them.
From a WvW PoV (what little experience I have in that) I’m glad the siege builders and repair folks are getting some mastery love too. Now I can spend my points in something I like.
Nope.
He’s my ugly blonde necro darn it and he will stay that way.
Some great looking armours in this thread.
Here’s my ranger.
Vest is Krytan skin from the gem store.
Pants are Prowler
Boots are Outlaw
Gloves are Pirate
and Cheetah backpack.
If you had a staff instead yours could be a human Cheetara from Thundercats.
I can see the sultry a bit in how the camera has her. Good job.
His eyes are red ‘cause he’s always yelling at Solid Snake when snake won’t answer his codec.
I love the blooper audio on soundcloud where he said “Bear! Bear? BBBEEEAAAARRRRRRRR!”
I am trying to make that my ringtone at some point.
I’ll check out the looks of some folk’s armor if I’m near.
I had one person compliment mine, which was nice.
It’s also possible to jump over the mini lasers, although I have not been able to reproduce this to 100% success.
I managed to do it once…just before the blasted golem smacked me and the big wall fried me.
If that’s the medium armor then my Charr Engie will adore this.
Thank you!Your Charr won’t be using this model, instead it will use the male model which is a trenchcoat like armor. Same with asura.
Previewed it, liked it, bought it, loved it.
No helmet?
I think she looks better without it. I wear it only when I go on WvW battlegrounds
Agreed, she’s prettier without the helm.
If that’s the medium armor then my Charr Engie will adore this.
Thank you!
I will admit I’m liking the novel and how some things will be tied to the game.
I almost threw away the doll in game, but after reading a few chapters I won’t.
It will be kept safe in my bank among the other treasures.
Is there some rule that beautiful women can’t be strong and sarcastic or something?
There is nothing beautiful about sarcasm.
Oh I don’t know, I’ve met a few women that were sarcastic and I thought they were beautiful because of it.
They were sharp in the mind too, that might have been a factor.
Mesmer favorite song: “I think I’m a clone now”
Dang… I just got that.
And I bet within the next few months someone will put that music in their Mesmer gameplay footage. lol
Face it… We Sylvari really need more love at the moment!
Well you did have the personal story and Trahea—- oh come on now don’t start crying like that!
Norn women are best women, though Human women do rank above the tree girls if that makes you feel better.
You are better as a team player for Guardian.
If you want to roam, it doesn’t fare well.
Ok if true then my wolf and spirit weapons will be used more often.
“Wrathful Spirits: This trait now increases damage dealt by spirits by 50%, up from 10%.”
On the face of it… this sounds almost too good to be true. But… having never used spirit weapons myself… I have no idea if spirit damage was previously so pitiful that this buff merely brings them back up to the level of mediocre or not.
I.e… will they be worth using now ?
Well I tend to use them now because I can slightly troll a few folks in WvW when I have to fight. Plus when dealing with large mobs in PvE they are distractions to the enemy. Brief distractions, but hey I’ll take what I can get.
Problem is their health is rather low, as such they aren’t really useful unless you trait Improved Spirit Weapon Duration, Spirit Weapon Mastery, and Eternal Spirit which does absolutely nothing to health, but does keep them in the game longer assuming they still have health.
They don’t destroy as soon as you use their command, they recharge a bit faster, and also they hang around longer if not killed off.
By increasing the damage they’ll at least do something worthwhile damage-wise compared to before. This is all assuming they don’t get one-shot to death just before dealing damage.
Take for example Sword here 50% of 694 is a nice boost.
(edited by Atlas.9704)
Sooooo … rifle is a hand cannon? All I can think of is MEGAMAN!!! LOL
(Or Samus Aran)
Defiantly not complete :P
Shh
Shh
No, keep it as is.
It’s so beautiful
…you dodge roll out of your bed in the middle of the night and crash into your closet door.
Wait you sleep ?
But how do you get your materials?!
I know I’ve played too much when I see zombie films and think “Pfft use Greatsword, then Scepter/focus and you’ll be fine!”
Ok if true then my wolf and spirit weapons will be used more often.
I’m a grill pls send me gold cutie
I’ll add ya
You are a grill? What type? I hope a George Foreman.
Could you cook something for me?
I’ve probably only had one instance of outright rudeness on my server.
Some guy drops dead, I’m running to him, I’m also trying to wait for the mob to leave, just as it turns around to leave the player thinks I won’t rez him and called me a kitten.
Sometimes people don’t have that situational awareness to realize “Hey maybe I should throw out a TY for the trouble.” or “Well if I wait then I’ll get rezzed because I have a Karka/Zombie/Golem sitting on my face right now.”
Mesmer favorite song: “I think I’m a clone now”
O I’m sure and latter in Orr it’s proven by a quote and an event.
I hate that quote from the boss.
It ticks me off thinking about that in the middle of the fight.
Stupid floating eyeballs.
What about the booty plundering?
She’ll find the right person one day.
What do you mean I didn’t read that right?
I don’t mind the temporary content either.
Back in GW1 (before it went automated and the live stuff team left) I saw various holiday hats I could never earn because they were last year’s designs. It didn’t bother me because all that stuff is cosmetic. All the fancy stuff the story gives out is cosmetic as well.
I like to think some of the cringe worthy stuff is part of the noir charm.
Good, this will complement the book I preordered nicely.
I do enjoy pirates of the sky. If I ever get any Aetherblade stuff I’ll made a character based on Don Carnage.
Well you obviously had the money to do that.
shrugs
I would have used the gold to help out folks in WvW or bought boost foods for lowbies.
Yes. But better yet, have multiple ways for people to accomplish the same goal via skill.
Jumping puzzle master? You get a ticket.
Farming god" You get a ticket.
PvE Boss Buster? You get a ticket.
Scavenger Hunter Extraordinaire? You get a godkitten ticket.RNG lucky son of a kitten? Well, kitten son, you’ve got everything else in the game, I guess you can have a ticket too. :|
Though I will admit the candy cramped up my click finger for a second lol.
Lol, I feel yeah. I believe this was some secret ANET skill based test of dexterity
That’s the answer! They are in cahoots with computer mice companies!
I bet deep in Arenanet’s offices there’s a MiB-style guy from Razer handing off a big check to them.
Listen Arenanet…
My Charr Engie has a lot of grenades.
That sky pirate stuff needs to be available for purchase or the fictional city goes sky high!
It would look cool on him. Make with the gem store goodliness that makes me drool like you did Wintersday.
I don’t like PvP too much, but I do enjoy some Dragon Ball. I guess its because I get that GW1 nostalgia moment.
Also I love using holograms to clear out enemy mobs. I ran straight into a centaur blob yesterday, activated holo, then fought one while his buddies killed off the centaurs.
So now I have no centaurs to deal with, holos were damaged, and I already killed off one of their buddies.
It is GO TIME!
Yes. But better yet, have multiple ways for people to accomplish the same goal via skill.

This wouldn’t be too bad and hopefully it looks like they are moving somewhat in that direction.
To get the Shattered wings we need to do (I think 7 or 8?) accomplishments for the Bash. I managed to get mine last night because Motti finally won my third race. All the other stuff I was just doing because I liked it.
Though I will admit the candy cramped up my click finger for a second lol.
As for the other holo wings, yeah that’s still by drops but if they added a way to buy those it would have been nice.
Personally I have this fantasy that PvE, PvP, and WvW will all get one special item for doing stuff with them. Then the other rewards can be obtained by just doing things associated with the event or even buying them outright.
Like to gamble? Sure we’ve got these drop boxes from the kills you made while playing. You still had to do something, but there’s a chance you get the nice item.
Want to still play your other activities and not spend all week/month at the one event spot? We’ve scattered neat little things in PvE and WvW that you can do while playing normally. It will take some time, but you can earn your happy ending.
A PvP fan? Then partake in the latest ButtKickingCon-2013 and earn your golden McGuffin for winning matches or something.
Finally for those that just want the blasted things and don’t have the time for activities shell out the card and pay.
With Dragon Bash we’re slowly getting there. If Dragon Ball accomplishments meant something to the overall ticker I would have been awarded quicker!
Atherblade…Sky Pirates.
Motherfracking Sky Pirates.
These guys are like evil airbenders.
I don’t mind where this is going.
At least it isn’t zombies, ice critters, or evil shellfish from Bikini Bottom.
Besides we all know why they are around. They’re upset about all these fireworks we are setting off.
Seems like my faith in the Living Story so far is going strong.
The previous events all had some faults, but I kept hope that every chapter after this one would only get better and build up the story.
Seems like you guys are doing well with this one.
I hope the next one will do just as well.
Also, I find it very weird that Logan does not trust the Lionguard.
Considering what happens in the Human Personal story with the Bandits and the Seraph I’m guessing he’s just hedging bets.
Marjory’s cutscene was nice and moody like Sin City. I half expected Logan to say “Her name was Goldie” when Kasmeer showed up.
However we all know Countess Anise is the one true hottie
Please stop saying Hardcore Gamers. Making me puke a bit in my mouth. Also not a fan of “White Knight” :P
Well if people stop making these blame game threads stuff like this won’t happen.
I’m cranky today, sorry. There’s just so many of these kitten threads going around.
(edited by Atlas.9704)
I’m very picky, ill admit that, but I don’t think it’s TOO picky to think the wings flap way too frequently? Maybe have them stay still for at least 2 seconds? Still look awesome. Guna get them for my warrior
. Also, can’t get “Bash the dragons, bash the dragons!” out of my head! xD
I immediately went to youtube, looked up weasel stomping day, and realized we have that but no mayonnaise to spread on our lawns in Lion’s Arch.
If you do purchase GW make sure to do Nightfall first, Prophecies second, EOTN, and eventually hold your nose and play Factions.
Seriously the main city in that game was a depressing hellhole which made me not want to complete Winds of Change or even the storyline for that part of GW.
As always all of your feedback and comments are greatly appreciated, we’ll continue to adapt and grow this strategy and concept as we go. As we’ve said before, we’re trying something very new and different here, and in some ways we’re learning along with all of you how we make a living world style game work.
Permanent content, more mini games, a few tweaks to boss mechanics which don’t rely on pure zerk powa, and missions or stories that give us a reason why we chose our Pacts.
Yes I know I’m all seeing Commander McAwesomeness of the three Orders, but I started in the Vigil so maybe having a mission for Vigil people outside of Personal Story would be fun.
When my Human Guardian made max level mostly via gameplay I simply said, “huh…neat okay back to Orr.”
When my Sylvari Ranger made max level mostly via cooking I shrugged and thought, “well I finally have all trait points and can eat omnom bars and use the tray recipe”.
The only differences to me were I now have most of the map traveled, darn you red borderlands, and now I can use most of the things I craft. Also I can make food trays of the higher end stuff for strangers.
Robin: “Trehearne, calm down, get a hold of yourself”
Bat-hearne slaps him “This won’t end weeeellllllllll”
I’ll also add in “My Mother Tree is deeeaaddddd!” If you want
The Dragons come to the Forge and eat everything magical.
all the Dragons
Yep.
There are games made for 17 year olds who skip school to play 16 hours a day, make spreadsheets to min/max, and rage at the screen over a 0.1% difference between X and Y.
This game is not one of those games.
This is the game for that kid above once she or he hits over 30, has a kid, a job, and plays here and there while looking for an easy way to chat with her or his mates about the events of the day.
Our spreadsheets are devoted to the quarterly statement for management, we skip work because the kid got sick and we clock in 16 hours for less wages than we should get, and we rage at the screen over the 1% taking 90% of the fruits of our labor.
We don’t care for Farmville either, we want an action MMO, and now we have one.
Thank you for finding the words I could not.
This game is built more for the casual or the recovering hardcore player.
Though I’ll probably get flak for stating this, I think that was the ‘revolution’ part of what ANet’s failed marketing tried to convey.
There are games for hardcore players, then for the casuals there are games but they aren’t as engaging.
This one takes some engaging elements and puts them in a system friendly to casuals.
Yes currently the hardcore base is left out in the cold, but remember how long it took GW to make up their hard mode and other instances the hardcore people liked?
Eventually I see this happening, but not soon.
Then people can complain about how they’re bored with that and how rare skins are so devalued because all the hardcore folks are putting them in the trading post! (tongue placed firmly in cheek, please take no offense!)
GW2 is just trying something new, well to them at least I figure, but they are trying to make some differences that might or might not work out 1-3 years from now.
As a casual player I don’t mind the pace in which this is going, but then again I don’t eat up new content fast.
Both sides are correct that there’s always room for improvement and change. I too would like to see the explorable modes in all dungeons get some form of overhaul in terms of boss dynamics. Not because of some need for hardcore, but rather because it shows the devs still look at ‘older’ content and update them too. Rozgar The Forge was a fun example of what I like to see. Have the boss mix up what hurts him the most and what can be effective against him. Will there eventually be a beatable pattern? Of course, but we’ll at least reduce the discussions over “Zerk only” or (insert other cookie cutter build) only and maybe open up things that the “broken” classes could shine in.
Though honestly I’m just the outsider when it comes to discussion of dungeons seeing as how I need to finish the Koda one and Crucible in story mode.
The game is good, but does still have ways to go. That’s kind of the exciting and frustrating thing for MMOs. None of them are perfect right out of the box and experience their own Living Story with every patch and update.

Gwen would be one of those seps I slapped around in Ebonhawke.
Hey quick someone get that time Golem from the GW April Fool’s even running!
I have a plan.
no warrior who isn’t totally crazy would wear a quaggan-hat when he is fighting for his life.
My warrior would totally wear a quaggan hat into battle….but she is completely nuts.
I love your character then, lol.
I’ll see what I can do for Janthir.
