I’ll laugh if everyone buying them are just speculators and the prices crash.
Call me in a month.
It’ll be just like dyes. Mark my words.
That was my take on it too.
After most folks unlock the minis they want, the prices will level out.
Eventually it will act like dyes and the boom will bust probably by October.
Funny enough I wonder why ANet didn’t do their miniature deals NOW.
Could you imagine the gold/gems that would have been thrown at the TP?
The Master of Peace and Zojja will both return to GW2 once their voice artists have cleared their schedules.
So be prepared to see them in GW4!
Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s used later somehow, but in a small capacity.
Maybe something like “he was holding back the evil forces from the powerful Egg McGuffin”. Then you come swooping in last minute to save him, get exposition from him, and then onto the big battle.
one question…
what happens if I have more copies of “account bound mini”?
Let me guess, its that darn Jenna mini you’re thinking of?
Yeah I’m curious too.
So Minis are going account bound and unlock like dyes.
This is going to alter the value in the trading post.
I do like the idea of previewing them, but it feels like they’ve mostly just moved the pane from the bank to our hero panel.
Still an interesting QoL change and it seems to have been wanted.
I would have preferred the toys like brooms or drills to get this treatment first.
Oh well, either way I’ll look into purchasing minis for selling by Sept 9th all the same.
I want my old Templar armor from GW1.
I would also like more plant based armor, or at least stuff that looks grown.
I also want bear skins draped all over me like the Koda stuff.
In short, I would really appreciate more racial based armors.
Well there is that.
Yes new players mean new blood into the game.
Also though I think this is ANet’s way of trying to fix the problems we were complaining about in the past.
“The game leveling is too slow”, okay they do this number.
“Don’t know where to go”, okay they make this update.
Hoping that some vets will start a new character in a slot, start and see how it differs from the days they did it long ago.
Does this mean it wasn’t geared to the already established lvl 80s who don’t want to replay as another character? Well yes, it seems not every update is going to relate to every one.
I am pleased about the Personal Story alteration to a degree.
They weren’t kidding when it was said that stuff from China would come to EU and NA eventually.
I hope there’ll be some focus on lvl 80s at some time.
For example: I have a lvl 80 for each profession.
1 of them I “played right” by doing the Personal Story, map exploration, etc.
The others I either crafted like crazy or used whatever trains were available to level them up.
I wouldn’t mind wiping my crafting alts just to experience the leveling up stuff they are doing.
If I do that though I’ll lose out on all my recipes I had.
I guess I could wipe the alts that don’t craft, then try it out.
It isn’t like I put much effort into them to begin with.
It will really suck for key farming if they’ve altered the rewards significantly.
Though I have faith in the player system to game the game for keys after this release.
new legendary confirmed, The Cakenator rifle, fires flaming cakes at your foes, accompanied by cheerful birthday music
Plus if you kill 9,000+ folks with it you are given the achievement title “Cake Boss”.
Nicholas’ descendant.
Well geez this answer just took a spot in my list without me realizing it.
Yes, I want either a descendant of his or Ameranth to take up the challenge.
Since that made list I’ll list out two others as well.
I would like for PvP, WvWvW, and PvE to be more separate. Instead of insisting that they are three facets to the game. Make them feel stronger alone.
I would also like Personal Instances to give us more Housing related options.
Give us bonuses or special vendors for completing Personal Story, getting achievements, completing LS episodes, etc. At the very least give us the ability to purchase upgrades like one can with Guild related things.
I only miss parts of Season 1.
I miss some of the recipes I couldn’t get at the time.
I miss being able to find toxic spore patches in multiple maps to harvest.
I miss the Tower, but not the Toxic Alliance.
I do miss having the Aether armies drop in a map, creating group coordination to “save” it. I do not miss Scarlet however.
Even though I’m liking a lot of changes, this one does concern me.
I main with my Guardian and sometimes use my Warrior as my second.
All the other classes I have, they’re just crafting zombies.
Either that or were experiments into the class just to see how they play.
Now I have all at 80, but to be honest I don’t use the others that much.
I really hope this doesn’t affect level 80s, because I do love getting light armor with my main and salvaging or selling it for profit.
I know I could simply play as my light armored characters and farm with them, but I don’t like how they play. I’m too used to heavy armor characters.
What would ascended level cooking even produce?
Ambrosia, nectar of the Gods.
I have no idea what the stats would do, but chances are it would be a standard for all dungeons/Boss Trains/WvWvW in a matter of days.
As a part time dungeon runner and someone who loves to use cooking I approve of this update.
I’m pleased, very pleased at the sub component navigation.
Stolos: you’re spot on. This encounter was an homage to the courtroom cross-examinations from Ace Attorney.
You are good people.
“TAKE THAT!”

ANet chooses, because then that will give the player base some idea of what’s important to the company.
Then they’ll have some feeling that CDIs are going in a direction.
This reminds me of the Lore section for the races.
There were threads for Human, Charr, and Norn stories for characters if I remember right.
To be completely honest there isn’t that much in terms of benefits from a gameplay perspective.
If you like guild missions, maybe there’s the difference.
Otherwise you could just have a robust friends list and still benefit socially on par with a guild without the guildness.
Maybe the community team could keep a rolling “top over-all concerns” for core development areas of the game from the dev teams perspective? We wouldn’t be allowed to go into specifics per our rules about not discussing what’s in development, but certainly categorical summaries could help?
It couldn’t hurt.
I worked with a few Pen and Paper gaming companies that had to balance the “I can’t tell you” with the “We are excited to share this sneak peek!” moments and the “Yes we know… for the 10 billionth time” moments.
The fun parts were when the customers scream about Issue A and Release C is like Issue A with a different slant. Just because the companies aren’t tackling issues the exact way a customer wants doesn’t mean it isn’t on their radar after all.
I think that’s where some rage is coming from.
The customers here just don’t know what ANet wants from their own game.
We have players chanting and raising the Manifesto up like gospel.
Then there’s the multiple bases within game modes wondering if their specific love is ever going to get any love from ANet.
Meanwhile it seems we get evasive answers and we have even lost the teaser pages for releases after Season 1.
So at least having a hit list from you guys might shed some light on where the direction is going from a dev side.
We hear a lot about “not allowed”.
May I ask, “not allowed” by whom? You guys are the developers. Who do you need permission from?
Team Leads? Project Managers? Corp Suits in charge of the direction of the company overall? Those would be my short list right now.
Morning All,
You asked me to be honest so I am going to be. I am starting to feel like doing another CDI just isn’t worth the frustration, huge amount of time and heartache.
As i have said many many times before getting the logistics around communication right is extremely important. Time is precious and anything that can be done to make every second more valuable is paramount. Any time a developer spends on CDI is time away from the game. The benefit however is huge in terms of the products evolution so it is an extremely difficult balancing act.
Chris
As a developer I sympathize with your frustrations.
There’s too many times I’ll listen to a client use their “client speak” about what they want while my brain tries to translate the problem into “dev speak”.
All that time used could have been used for something constructive (IMO) like coding, maybe finding that blasted bug they will eventually discover, or getting a soda as I rage at the potentially new project that will last a month or more just on pure committee.
Even though my kneejerk reaction would be “maybe if the CDI is a headache we shouldn’t do it” I also get what you’re saying.
ANet needs to see where the community thinks we need fixes, then internally compares them with what ANet sees, and eventually something comes out of it.
Maybe one of the CDIs could be more of what ANet thinks is important and we sit and listen for a change? I can’t remember if this was done in the past, but personally it would help discussions in the future.
If ANet is more concerned about (example) Living world story satisfaction and folks are still wondering why no mounts/ duels/ non gem store skins, the community can at least see the latter being well off your radar at this time.
I’ll still contribute to CDIs if I have something worthwhile, but I wanted to let you know that you have my sympathies during these hectic times.
and i was like……………but…what the…………….our games story line is based around lesbians!
See you are using logic in your thought process.
This is online gaming, such things aren’t required for some.
It is sad, I know, but I too understand your frustration.
Hi All,
There have been a number of questions about when the CDI will spin up again.
The answer is shortly after our next Feature Pack is released.
Looking forward to collaborating with you all and having some awesome discussions.
Chris
Is there any way we could have summaries of some CDI discussion, progress, or any news about it in the Points of Interest show?
I like Kate’s performance.
I don’t mind the fact ANet is trying to give us another show, but that series lacks meat aside from “here’s a recap of this week’s release”. After that 10 minute discussion the rest of it isn’t that attention getting for some.
(edited by Atlas.9704)
NPCs that can’t find their moms and dads after Scarlet’s attack.
Parents who say in dialogue how much they hate having to bury their children.
Rage filled NPCs who lash out at Sylvari, any Sylvari.
Me trying to enjoy WvWvW.
Tonn and Apatia, plus the Risen Commander who taunted Forgal’s death.
Nothing is off the table, but maybe something to do with a keyboard and mouse.
Though we can’t confirm, there could be graphics in the game.
We’re still learning quite a bit from the last updates and continue to bring a broader experience to patching.
Stay tuned because we’re going to recap all these “don’t know” and “not sure” comments in our new web video series (insert title here).
I rather preferred the one with Steve Martin in it.
Had that “I am your dentist” song stuck in my head for the longest time.
“You’ll be a deeeennnttiiiisssstt…..”
Do wa wa
“You have a talent for causing things pain”
As said earlier there’s a difference between negative threads and threads that have criticism which actually contribute to something.
Spamming in all caps “Sab or Riot” is not a valid contribution. It is a tantrum thrown by someone which paints others in a negative light.
People providing their stance on why (mount/ dueling/ raids/ etc) should be in game might annoy some, like me, but at least there’s thought put into the thread. They’re using “big boy/girl words” instead of the current spasms of actions we’re seeing lately.
Apparently ANet doesn’t mind the latter, in fact they’ve actively merged threads together because we don’t need 40 different variations of “I wants duels plz”.
As for the former, I’m glad those disappear. They don’t contribute and should be pulled.
I think it was when they were releasing information on each class.
In GW1 I played Warrior and I tanked like crazy.
No need for someone in the group to take the damage, I’ll do it.
Even in LOTRO I’ve played Guardian-like characters.
Then comes the information on Guardian.
The colors seem to be a soft blue and grey, burning with the fires of magic to protect your allies.
Throw boons around like Santa with presents, mitigate your friend’s damage, stand on the line of combat and shout “Come on now!”
So I sat back, thought up a name for my first character, and Guardian became my main.
…and we had a lot of fun playing portions of it, but it’s difficult to fit in within the narrative structure that we have now and I think that makes it very much less likely that it will appear in a Living World season going forward.
Well going by this logic good bye WvWvW and sPvP.
Geez, I liked SAB for the diversion it is.
Stop trying to kill the fun mini-games, they don’t threaten the story!
I don’t think she’s Livia.
Heck as theories go, I’d believe her to be Gwen more than Livia.
At least we thought Gwen was dead once, pulling a Jean Grey comic book death a second time would be more believable.
No if I had to choose a potential theory on why Anise acts the way she does, I’d say she’s really some off branch descendant of Krytan royalty.
She keeps her youth like a Time Lord just to confuse her past enemies.
Best LS so far. Loved the Ace Attourney-style interrogation scene,
I’m going to replay the episodes with the Phoenix Wright music in the background.
So glad I’m not the only person who thought of that game when playing this one out.
Also yes that boss fight was grand.
I practically squeed with happiness when it was the Shadow dragon minion from the Sylvari dream.
Worse would be that Nightmare Court is now part of them, and assist the Mordrem.
OR
Other possibility is that we’ll see the first true Mordrem Sylvari…
What scares me isn’t the Courtiers assisting the Mordrem.
It scares me that they are what true Mordrem Sylvari are.
That there are MordSylvari that are even more cruel and evil than the Courtiers.
The initial “programming” of the tree they rejected still keeps them from reaching their top potential for cruelty.
It would still be exciting to see a threat like that though.
Should just submit endless videos of WvW bugs and issues instead. Maybe they’ll get the hint. (probably not)
This or submit that video where GvG was ‘ruining’ the game mode of WvWvW. lol
Step 3 don’t skimp on the extras, advanced statistics and programming. You want to know SQL and python (for now), but you’re way better off with a more fundamental programming education and that means c to c++ to c#, then branching to sql and python.
I apologize for the off topic question, but how difficult is python to learn?
I’ve dealt with C++, played around with C#, and currently working with classic ASP and ASP.NET.
I have been told that if I know C# I should be able to grasp basics. I didn’t know how accurate that was.
Poor Taimi looks terrified. The Inquest definitely came a-knockin’ now that she’s tampering with the waypoints.
She’s seen some weird stuff, stuff that would turn your hair white…
..which can be dyed back with the new 25% sale on BL hair stylist this weekend!
I don’t see any release notes or news from the devs about it.
So I guess they did a ninja pull on it and will address the situation later. assuming it needs to be addressed at all.
My point being the atlas was probably an experiment.
Much like the other attempts they made to bring up the excitement for the Living Story, some stuff just stops working.
I’m not sure if they’ll bring it back or not, especially since Season Two has some form of built in recap on episodes. That was basically what the atlas tried to do and failed at IMO.
Something is holding her back from going into the Mist. What could it be?
Well she died rather quickly, maybe Grenth and Balth laughed her back into the world?
“Come back when you die better!”
Or possibly she’s still looking for her sword, haunting all the players who coveted such a treasure.
I do enjoy this episode quite a bit.
Especially I love the little things, like the crown when you are a Human character.
The dialogue choices are nice touches.
My Thief: “Why didn’t you… DOOOOOOOOODGEEEEE!”
“Why are you starting a subroutine, its not that complex!”
My Human Guardian would have offered condolences, then asked Kasmeer to hold Jory.
Then he would get Belinda’s body down from the vines and close her eyes.
Afterwards offer a quiet prayer to all the Gods:
“Dwayna please weep for her loss, but be proud that she defended the weak.
Balthazar, please be proud of her valor as she stood against all odds to spill enemy blood.
Grenth, judge her actions well as she goes into the Mist.
Melandru, use her shell to give life once more when she’s buried.
Lyssa, provide illusion to Jory’s pain until she can accept the loss.
Kormir, give Jory’s heart the truth that she can overcome this loss.”
Then depart to leave the couple to their grief, I wouldn’t even search for the sword until they were gone. It is just more polite that way.
Demolitionist Tonn. Horrible, just horrible. Still haunts me.
Points up to this post
This guy/gal right here gets it.
Tonn or Forgal, either one makes me hate replaying the tragedies when I roll new characters.
I just don’t want to see them go.
Why do people not care about Belinda’s death? When I saw her dead it utterly shocked me. Maybe I get connected to characters a lot more easily than other people…
Or I’m a special person. The world may never know.
She had a throw away voice and was introduced rather quickly, only to have her removed from it all the next episode.
Granted her death in Ep2 was rather quick, but I expected her not to survive this Season.
This thread is too much lol.
Though when the orbs started spinning I kept thinking of BSG’s version of “All Along the Watchtower” as it played out.
To all those of you who suggest that the locket shows a picture of our character….
You do realize that some players actually play asura, sylvari, norn or charr, right? Right?
Incorrect chummer and here’s why.
See Tyria’s had magic all along, seeping through all the lands and creatures.
Some tried to use powers to shape shift, think of early Mesmers and such.
Those poor schmucks got stuck in their shape and couldn’t get out.
They got angry, then got jealous of the mundanes who still looked human.
That’s how the Charr came to be.
As for the others, it was either birth defects or magical shenanigans.
Face facts we’ve been drekking with magic in the Sixth World well before the Wizworms awoke.
You really think you are Asura? No way, just another victim of UGE.
Now we only need to have a Harbinger-like dragon champion.
ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL
Read that with Mr Sparkles voice in my head.
I’ll just leave this here: Ghost army of Dunharrow, The Oathbreakers
A girl can dream right? right?
By the Six, the idea of Rytlock or Logan leading a ghost army into a Dragon Battle made me warm all over.
I’m really excited about this because hopefully we’ll tie up that loose end with Eir and Rytlock about the sword.
She took Magdaer so it could be reforged for Logan.
After that I kept thinking “Annny minute now they’ll conclude this.”
That thought was going on for three months before I lost hope.
Forget you. I’m da bawss.
I like being called boss as well. For too long we’ve been (insert rank) or “friend” or even just not mentioned in GW1 that much since we aren’t the focus.
Now with this group, I’m in charge, so I don’t mind this feeling.
Talk to to Jennaaawwwww (like a boss)
Beat Events (like a boss)
Spawn a workshop (like a boss)
Remember birthdays (like a boss)
Direct zergflow (like a boss)
My own Legendary (like a boss)
Micromanage zergs (like a boss)
Promote Guild Events (like a boss)
Hit on Anise (like a boss)
I too thought of The Thing.
Also I think I’m understanding why Ventari armor was made.
Those little buggers, in groups, could flank you and make life hell for those who can’t dodge.
The line that came to mind was …
MY GOD. IT’S FULL OF STARS.
I have to do this all again on all my alts to see that (curses at the Ft. Salma part, ’twill be a stumbling block).
Ah you too, glad to see that.
One of my family members was watching it out of partial interest and asked what was going on in the game.
The best I could sum up was “Oh I just finally stared into space, time, everything, and now I’m either the Starchild or Bad Wolf. I don’t know which.”
Don’t know how this is a shock to anyone. Belinda was written in to be killed.
I agree, but they could have waited a few episodes before throwing down the axe on her.
Well at least she didn’t say anything about being 3 weeks from retirement.
Considering how parts of this was predictable, I expected similar.
I did like how the biconics used “he” and “him” in game for my character.
I don’t think the game did that before. So at least some things are improving.
You shall fear Vegetarr!
One day he will defeat Charrkarot.
Wait does that mean one of the Dragon champs grants wishes?
Or maybe if we collect them all Glint will come back!
