Though we got raptors already: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Raptor
We need bigger…. and a glass of water… and a lawyer
Correction, we have ‘those’ raptors.
I wanted the anger inducing ones from ye old days.
I honestly hope we get some more dino looking types.
I missed Raptor farming back in GW1.
How did I feel about it?
I liked Caithe, but I didn’t like Faolain and not just because she’s evil.
It was how they portrayed her.
Right off the beginning she hates the tablet and kitten everyone’s opinion other than hers.Yes, much like everyone in Real Life™ who objects to a society where people are forced or heavily pressured into living their lives according to a set of rules written on a stone tablet by a guy a long time ago are Very Bad People and obviously just waiting to go psycho.
She started off ham handed as the bad guy, but really there was no reason for it.
I’m not talking about Real Life folks, the same folks with real life legitimate issues, so don’t try to lead me down that path. You’ll be wasting your time.
Cadeyrn had legit reasons for going Nightmare, jealousy.
Faolain, supposedly had been all about questions, and Caithe had been all about answers.
I didn’t get that from her in this first part of the episode.
I got the feeling she would have been a snotty childish adult who really doesn’t want a debate.
People calling Faolain obviously evil from the start are letting their memories of the first two parts be overwhelmed by their reaction to the last bit, even though it should be clear that a fair bit of character development has happened, unseen, in the interim. Even in No Refuge, it’s not clear that she’s Eeeeevul, rather than paranoid and roughly as jingoistic as your average modern military FPS hero.
Actually my reasoning for calling her Eeeeevul right from the start stems from how she never truly changes compared to how she’ll eventually be.
Let’s take, for example, Scarlet.
We see her as a half baked Joker mad Harley Quinn plant woman.
Eventually we’re given the backstory that she likes to tinker and question.
It was her own curiosity and lack of restraint that eventually did her in, thus creating something that went totally mad.
We went from one dimensional crackpot to at least 1.5 dimensional with the potential of more if they did want to keep working on the back story.
Now back to the subject Faolain. In the book (Edge of Destiny) and in the dungeon path we get a manipulative psycho who kidnaps her own people in order to turn them.
She probably does question things, but the game tends to fluff up her more evilish side than her question things sides.
In this back story, well she’s a racist or at least has Sylvari supremacist-like feelings which isn’t too far from the former. Aside from that she’s still pretty much the end result, minus the kidnapping part.
Not that much on development, but I’ll be fair and say this was one instance whereas Scarlet had a few more.
I will also agree that Trahearne’s idea of calling them Second born was flat out stupid, but I don’t expect much from him at times anyways.
I would have experienced it differently if Faolain at first worked with the newly awakened. Instead of outright fighting Trahearne about his adherence to the tablet.
From there when the Asura Lab mission comes up, then she could get mad and have a “this is why we can’t have nice things” moment.
At any rate, the centaurs aren’t peaceful baby seals here
Of course they aren’t. They do show some range however as a race.
Then again I’m not going to compare a whole race with one Sylvari.
They got pushed, they defended themselves, and lost.
Killed who now?
I was referring to Faolain’s ending at Twilight Arbor.
Upon further research, I did the story path months ago so the memory was weak, it didn’t actually show her die.
More like a disappearance, so a GI Joe death or some other thing of the sort.
TLDR version:
She does have the potential for a good back story, but this first instance of her past fell flat to me.
If others feel different, then that’s them.
However I just didn’t see here as some tragic creature or anything other than what she’ll be in the present.
Not for Caithe’s lover, nope already evil right from the beginning.
It makes me wonder why Mother Tree didn’t just burn her body before it emerged.I’m hoping we eventually learn that by allowing the Nightmare Court to dabble in their evil-for-the-lulz, the Pale Tree is able to exert some measure of control over them, or at least monitor them. The alternative being her attempts to hold on to them too tightly would drive them to becoming Soundless and leave them fully open to corruption.
They tried that whole ‘game the system by making the resistance’ with the Matrix movies.
It didn’t work out too well there either.
I seriously hope the Pale Tree doesn’t pull an Architect on us.
How did I feel about it?
I liked Caithe, but I didn’t like Faolain and not just because she’s evil.
It was how they portrayed her.
Right off the beginning she hates the tablet and kitten everyone’s opinion other than hers.
I wanted to see a bit more of a lighter personality before meeting with the Faolain I’ve already killed off in that one dungeon.
Even Scarlet had a different personality when she was Ceara.
Granted hers came about with near Lovecraftian experiments, but there was a change.
Not for Caithe’s lover, nope already evil right from the beginning.
It makes me wonder why Mother Tree didn’t just burn her body before it emerged.
As for the playing evil bit, I didn’t mind it. Yes it sucked that gentle Centaurs had to bite the dust, but that’s just because I’ve been more fascinated with those types than anything else.
Overall this episode was bland. There was no gray areas, no real intrigue (save what’s behind Monty Hall Door #1), and the only things interesting were the Firstborn before they gained the positions they have now.
I seriously hope the next episode ties this together, or it will just be a waste of an update. Caithe’s secret either has to be that fricking door or the fact she went proto Nightmare Court like an idiot.
My own impressions mirror somewhat like that.
The Good:
We see Tyria through the eyes of the Firstborn as the newly awakened start to show up.
This, to me, was akin to the Bonus books they had in GW1 for Gwen, Togo, and Turai.
It was a nice touch and something for this lorehound to enjoy.
Also seeing the Centaur village was nice, I liked how they were receptive to their ‘cousins’ initially.
Also we see Asura being Asura! Yes it was horrible exploitation of a sentient species, but still it was interesting to view it.
What needs work:
Yes being put in a thief role will sour some folks.
Personally I played every profession and even I frowned at a full thief skillbar, but it was Caithe’s story.
I didn’t care much for the golems. That second hallway had me just moving around the golem, pressing both consoles while it turned the other off. I eventually got lucky and the two were activated.
Also that shield system, that kitten kitten kitten shield mechanic.
I still don’t know what to do there, so I just whomped on people left and right.
The Bad:
Faolain’s performance was not that enjoyable.
I halfway expected her to start off with “I’m going to be evil and reject the mother”.
Then her first conversation with Trahearne turned out to be a subtle version of that!
I get it, she’s going to be Nightmare Court, but couldn’t this interaction at least show her in a light where maybe she had some optimism?
Ironically I like Canach and Trahearne more out of this.
Also there was no real motivation to protect Faolain when the Centaurs came in.
We stroll in, demand our sister, then pull weapons?! Forget this ANet I want to defend the four leggers.
Overall the game turned out more fun than the story, for me at least.
There weren’t any real surprises, save for Caithe slaughtering a village for no reason, and it simply was a mission to cliffhanger something else.
That something else, hopefully, will be what I was really expecting to see in this release.
So overall not as awe inspiring as the Silverwaste debut, but not as bad as the aftermath to the Nightmare Tower I guess.
What were your favorite narrative moments? What did you like about the content? About the way it was told? And of course, I want to hear what you think we can still do better on.
First off, this was one of the best updates I’ve seen since the ending parts of Scarlet’s arc (read that mostly as Marionette and such).
The big reason why this ranked high was the connection to the old GW1 stuff, but with enough differences to make the story its own.
I didn’t want only GW1 with better graphics for this game, but I did want some acknowledgement that there was a GW1. The Library did this in a spectacular fashion.
There were small references, outright blatant ones, and they meshed well.
Abbadon’s statue was a beautiful centerpiece.
The works of previous NPCs helped show that they did stuff besides the missions in GW1.
Glint’s crystal was a real treat in terms of mechanics, but Marjory and Kas could have been with us on map more. Instead they were more of ‘talking heads’.
Odgen’s performance and pacing was just want I wanted. He’s old, older than old, and probably tired of time. Yet he was able to answer my player’s questions with a respectful tone.
In terms of actual character designs, I love the menders. They remind me of the old Gargoyles.
With NPC interaction, the Pact base was great. We had old characters come back, our new biconics show up, and people talking in hushed whispers of awe in the background. The activity and energy did feel like a military base getting ready for war.
I hope we could revisit Orr with that.
As for what you can do more, tease us. The statue picture just before the release had me on my toes. Now we’re teased about Rytlock and I can’t wait to see what that’s about.
I feel like the pacing was better, but maybe a bit slow in terms of what the Master of Peace was doing at the end. Other than that this did feel like a GW mission and part of the story.
Until now I thought open world PvP was not possible, technically not built that way, according to this new LS that’s wrong and is possible.
Well based off what I’m reading from other players, it isn’t like you can fight back.
Then again who knows if that’s a bug.
I’ll wait for the dust to settle before I continue anymore on this subject.
Maybe a way for some pvp-ers to have some fun?
PvPers and fun?
In GW2?
Scandalous ideals good sir.
:p
What about new zones being released having the option to zone into a pvp or pve zone? With the megaservers in place, there shouldn’t be an issue with population. There of course would be an issue with no factions, so who would fight who.
If we get new zones then give the PvP people their own ghetto spot.
That’s the compromise I’ve stood by in the countless open world PvP threads that infest this board.
The problem, to me, becomes when a whole map is dedicated to that activity. Then it should go back to the Mists, where it belongs.
Otherwise we might as well just put more PvE things in the WvWvW area.
Then at least those poor maps would get some attention.
I’d much rather see them add an area to WvW where you can hit each-other in the face to your heart’s desire.
Having this in PvE is an annoyance…
Agreed, but as long as it is in a spot that can be ignored it isn’t that much of a problem.
I haven’t done everything in PvE yet.
So when I finish all those accomplishments, I’ll just play the Trading Post for a while.
Then whenever the new storyline comes out, I’ll do that.
I’ll keep going until the only thing left is PvP related stuff.
After that I’ll take a break to play another game until more fun stuff comes back.
I think IoJ, but really just Megaserver since all I do is PvE.
I wouldn’t mind, but then again I have all my classes leveled up.
If some rookie with a credit card wants to instant up him/her self it doesn’t bother my solo play.
Hopped in, did my 5 events, then left to go have fun each week.
I really didn’t care how my server ranked, though I think it might have been #1 at some point.
That’s nice I guess, more obsidian shards and a weapon for me.
Did it entice me to really play WvWvW?
Not in the slightest. In fact I barely do champ train in EoTM anymore.
Even with this PvP buff I really don’t care.
I hope it gets a whole new layout, maybe even incorporate the Pact and minor races somehow a bit more.
I’d love to see a Skritt section or some Hylek architecture pocketed away.
“Have you a dog in Heaven, Lord?
Is there room for just one more?
Cause my little dog died today;
he’ll be waiting at your door. Please take him into Heaven, Lord.
And keep him there for me,
just feed him, pet him, love him, Lord,
that’s all he’ll ask of Thee."-Unknown
It reminded me of a story someone told me when one of mine died.
“A man was traveling along with his dog down a foggy valley.
He encountered a lovely looking angel who informed him of his death.
She was tasked to bring him to heaven, but he would have to leave his pet behind.
The man smiled and said ‘No thanks’ then left her.
After a while a creature of light showed up.
It revealed that the beautiful angel was not really from Heaven.
It was amazed how this simple man could see through such a deception.
The man shrugged and said, ‘I honestly didn’t know. All I knew was if my dog can’t come with me then I don’t want to go.’
He and the dog were both taken after that.”
Find that hard to believe I keep getting them dont need them so just throw away .
Don’t do that! Use them to key farm.
I disagree with the “only good for reward tracks” idea.
It is also a good place to get free transport to Lion’s Arch.
As for the game mode itself, I occasionally hot join just to get some progress on the track bar.
Aside from the two to three fights here and there with weeks stretching in between, I can’t really get interested in PvP as it is.
Do I hate the mode? No, more like bored by it.
I do applaud ANet’s efforts though to get some loot in for the PvP lover.
This really does benefit those who utilize nearly every part of the game.
I demand the ability to fight in just a towel.
That way when I beat someone, I can just dance over them in a towel.
The psychological damage there is just icing on the cake.
Meh I don’t mind the look too much.
I’ll probably get a dagger or scepter for my Elementalist.
One question I wish to ask ANet is why can’t they revamp the intro racial fights to accommodate this New Player Experience they’re trying to do?
Yeah it would smell a bit of a tutorial like Pre Searing Ascalon or the Academy in Cantha.
It however would help newbies understand the game better while more experienced players burn through or even skip it all together.
This way levels 1 – 10 wouldn’t be mostly about “here’s how your weapon works” but more along the lines of “Here’s how storage/merchants/guilds work” level of game play.
I might need to look into this when I get online.
I wonder how they’ll look with the Zephyr helms from the Bazaar.
I miss Rotscale and the frustration of Gargoyles shutting my energy down.
Then I miss the satisfaction of bludgeoning them.
I bought one near the funhouse, because I do remember testing Asuras after this new stuff and using the consumable.
For those who want to main Phlunt you can petition for this little game (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Asuraball-Make-this-official/4438817) to become official and then petition to make the ball look like Phlunt. Story wise it could be a petty vengeance from Taimi where she creates golems/holograms that look like Phlunt for the game.
This is a fun idea—I can’t promise it’ll be anything other than an idea, but if we ever were to go forward with it, I would push hard for it to be called “Punt Phlunt.”
(tries his best Sarge voice): “This is the best game since Grifball”
Because it’s not leveling gating people are objecting to, but the CHANGE in level gating.
I’ll admit that yes the way they changed the gating for weapons is not appealing to me.
Before NPE the only real complaint I had was the fact that every weapon had to be unlocked by use.
However it did provide incentive to try them all out, because I wanted them all available for my character. They could have gated it as unlock one weapon’s skills (the old way), unlock them for all.
Nowadays, I don’t even attack the mobs during the tutorial adventure or on my way to the first heart.
There’s no incentive. I just blow through to the big boss or do whatever the heart needs.
It doesn’t matter anymore, there’s no reason to try out different weapons once I get that one which has a powerful 1 or 2 button skill.
On the subject of weapon swap, that’s a wash to me. I was aware of it before and didn’t much care for it. Though not being able to wield an off hand was a bad decision.
The NPE did some things right, but honestly it feels like I’m finally “back to level 1” pre-NPE once I hit 10 and that’s not a good feeling for me.
Maybe it is because I have experience with this game.
All I know is I’ve left some games because the beginning parts were so slow just for the sake of “teaching players”. I’d hate to see starting players have that same feeling.
Add some new wvw reward tracks for unique skins to get some new blood.
Taking this idea and going a bit further, why not have server population factor into progression?
For example let’s say WvWvW has a “server pride” track.
You play and accomplish certain things, the track progresses.
After a while certain rewards pop up.
The progression, however, can be slowed due to your server reaching a high population level for WvWvW.
Overall you still get the track, you still get the rewards eventually.
The trick here is those who want to game the system would transfer to lower populated WvWvW server in order to complete track faster.
Those who don’t care about that stuff will still stay home.
It would at least provide a player some incentive to see how other servers are without adding some hard population cap.
Another idea that sprung from my mind.
Eliminate PvP everywhere and replace WvWvW with emote dance fighting arenas.
The “army” with the most people who can emote specific actions within a certain amount of time perfectly become the winners.
Any chat comparisons to other games that allow PvP will log out players and redirect them to search results for other games.
Replace all human females with glorious sexy norn woman.
Oh wait, you said ruin, my bad.
That was chuckle worthy, plus oh so true about the Norn women.
How would I ruin this game?
First I would put up polls in the forum based on various ideas offered by the community.
Upon further metrics, interviews, statistics, and wibbley wobbley mathey wathey stuff I’d start combining those things together.
Such as bringing back the trinity system, with mounts, that have capes, and can duel.
You too can ride a Nyan Nyan mount as you troll people in Queensdale!
The duel default enabler would be 800 gems, along with the invite spammer (on sale for 300 gems today!) these two will enhance your gaming experience.
Does this conflict with the game’s vision? Of course not because there wouldn’t be any vision!
To that end we’ve now decided here at AtlasNet that character races can cross breed.
So expect to see some horrible fanboy/fangirlish monstrosities I create that will become the new NEW Destiny’s Guilded Edge of Dragon’s bane.
The nNGEDb would feature a Human child who is the secret union of Jennah and Logan, a plucky young comic relief.
Another would be the ultra secret affair between Logan and Rytlock (I’ll explain there) who magically turned into a half Sylvari half Charr who can call up Mother Tree at will from anywhere.
Throw in a Norn girl and a half Asura/half Tengu boy for diversity then we’re ready to go!
“But how could this be AtlasNet?”, you ask? Well thanks to our new expansion pack called “Broken Mists of Adventure Box!”.
Apparently Tyria, all of it was really destroyed in GW1 EOTN. What you’ve been playing in GW Beyond and GW2 was a simulation created within a Super Adventure Box. Now that Box is breaking and leaking out all sorts of Mists energy.
Any time the lore hounds ask a question, my crack team of experts will reply with the following:
“Wibbley Wobbley Mistey Wistey….stuff!”
So alternate realities where Logan is a woman are now possible.
Which means Cantha and Elona will come back as one land called Canthalona!
The people that live there, the Cathalopians, are dealing with a cruel reawakened Joko who brough Varesh back from the dead and married her.
With their unholy union they adopted a child, a poor little Sylvari named Scarlet.
These evil three plan on using the trinity mount of dueling on an Elder Dragon to rule everything!
What does this mean for you the player? AtlasNet would throw you into a testing environment that is 1000x worse than the release servers and force you to play it all out.
But who cares remember? We finally expanded the game! No doubt those overjoyed would gladly pay for “convenience” items I churn out. Which are really tests to fixes I’ll put into the live server after everything is revamped six months later as the new “expansion” comes out.
And yes, you do see some forum members making the same points again and again. That truly is not helpful to the review and discussion, in that the devs would prefer a focused, clear, concise statement rather than realizing “Wait, it’s that same person, saying the same thing for the 19th time.”
And I would love to know when the folks at ANet will be done with these changes.
That way when I list out my points I won’t be caught in any “still pending” traps.
It at least makes some professions less wimpy near level 20.
So I apparently have some reason to use those level scrolls now.
Note we want to make the fixes and then have a focused discussion about the system (Probably here)
We really want to hear what you think once the system/content is functioning as designed.
Chris
As a veteran, leveling with multiple characters is tiring and not engaging when your offhand weapon isn’t available until at least 7.
Combine that with not getting the most out of your weapons until 10 really kills the fun of creating alts for some experienced players.
I understand that the NPE is a way to help newbies take it slow, but can there be a work around for the more experienced?
(edited by Atlas.9704)
My opinion differs for each profession.
When playing as a Guardian it didn’t feel that much different.
Though I will admit the lack of an off hand weapon until 7 was a poor choice in my opinion.
The bump for weapon swapping is annoying to a vet like me sometimes, because I’m so used to it.
However for professions like Elementalist and Engineer, I did feel a difference and it wasn’t a good one.
I felt hampered severely by the lack of attunements and off hand for a while.
Eles are only as good as the powers they can swap around.
Engie are only as good as their utilities.
Both suffered when I tried to play out the 1-15 range in a way that had me deleting them because they simply were not fun.
Especially since they can’t utilize all of their weapon slots well until 10. That’s a bit of grind to me.
I shudder to think how thief, a profession I normally don’t like to level in the old method, would play out now.
I might try out Warrior and Necro, but to be honest I don’t like how some of the changes have affected the lower levels.
If I were to bring an earlier version of me to this game now he’d wonder why he can’t duel wield right off the bat. In fact that was one of the fun things about being an early warrior when I leveled.
Before the NPE I managed to get level 80 on all my characters, have 1 slot for the occasional key farm, and one I planned on expanding out to a profession but with a different race. Now I just don’t know if I want to go through that aggravation.
(edited by Atlas.9704)
I have tried it and I do not agree with some of the changes.
More specifically I find it rather annoying that off hand are not available until 7 and weapon switching doesn’t happen until 14.
Furthermore the idea of leveling up to 10 before you can use all 5 weapon slots is ridiculous to me.
Had they kept the original system, combat XP to unlock the skills, but made it global (level up the rifle means level up the rest of them) I wouldn’t have minded it.
Then there’s the F keys gating. Now I know the old system did similiar, but I would have at least accepted it if the boxes were there.
Under this new system, my Guardian didn’t see any of the F1 keys until he leveled to “unlock” them. They should have shown the boxes like they did the other weapon skills.
I get it, they want to keep China and non China code as close as possible.
I also get it that this could be used as a trial system if they wanted that route. Trial characters only make it to level 10 max or some stuff.
They could at least give vets the option to unlock all this, or bump us to level 10 immediately.
Even though I understand it, I don’t have to like it.
The rest of the release was just fine in my opinion.
I’ll just go with “The B Team”.
“In 1327 AE, a fearless hero was sent to take down Scarlet. A small team of adventurers tagged along for glory on something they didn’t commit. These people promptly escaped from a Season one stockade to the Living Story. Today, still updated by the server they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them….maybe you can hire The B-Team.”
If you follow this reasoning, “The E-Team” would fit much better, given their mysterious contact.
Naw, I’m still siding with “B Team” because Destiny’s Edge was my A Team when this all started.
The leveling system leaves much to be desired.
Though I do love how they describe what attributes are being upgraded.
I also like the small bit of loot for certain levels.
The skill gating is just not acceptable though.
I have to wait until I’m level 10 to use all 5 spots?!
It should have been level 5 at the most.
Another thought would have been to keep the old system, but if you unlocked one weapon skill set you unlocked them all.
Then there’s the gating on the F1 and other F keys.
This is frustrating as a player.
The gating doesn’t give players a sense of “ooh what’s next?” it gives players a sense of “this game is dragging me by the nose, I wonder what (insert another title) is up to?”
The rest of the updates were fine.
I liked the crafting, I liked the minor tweaks to the game, but I cannot recommend leveling up anybody now.
I’m so glad I got my lvl 80s early. I might not even want to level up my extra Norn warrior from 38 now.
The other frustrating factor is how we have to wait until 40 to fully unlock the character.
That’s halfway through the leveling process!
No I will not make any more characters, save the (now) occasional key farm.
I get that ANet was consolidating code with China’s framework.
I even get that now they could offer trial accounts where it stops at level 10.
It doesn’t mean I have to like it.
A character shouldn’t have to be level 10 to be at the beginning in terms of what a character can do.
That mentality is just as sick as the “now I’m at 80 I can finally play!” types.
China’s influence on the game has spoiled my ability to enjoy leveling new characters.
This is a shame, and I really did try it out.
I just can’t recommend this game for new people now.
-how would you all convey the sense of progression and change without also making changes to the landscape?
I would like to see stories that continue what was already sprouted from the dungeons.
Caudecus’s Manor was sacked by renegades against the peace treaty.
Uzolan’s toys are still out there, in the hands of mad men and women.
With the fall of Scarlet and the Aetherblades run amok, local bandits and separatists are getting ideas.
Ebonhawke is under siege now, Commander Samuelsson is their target.
Even though Samelsson doesn’t kneel to Queen Jennah, he still respects her as an ally.
This infuriates some dangerous foes with powerful technology.
You are sent to investigate in the manner with Canach, who serves the Shining Blade.
Another idea:
Honor’s Claw deals with the death of the previous Voice of Koda.
Eir Stegalkin once said, “Never let your mistakes defeat you.”
Now a new Voice is possibly found.
Braham, along with his mother, help the Koda allies find this new Voice before Jormagg’s forces consume it.
Honor’s Claw will also help guide this Voice, instead of retiring for a new Claw to step forward.
Truly such things are controversial, but times are changing and the Koda must find balance in this new world.
There are plenty of smaller stories that can be expanded after what initially happened.
We still know little of the lesser races and how they’re living after all of Season 1 and 2.
Some might be close to acquiring great power and threaten the balance so far.
That’s how a story lives and grows, or at least how I’d interpret it.
Canache in Southsun was boring but had potential.
After all he goes through a Molten facility and picks up those sweet gloves.
I still want to know what happened there.
Now him teamed up with Anise was just so darn good.
I loved how he knew he was a distraction, and honestly I think that helped him enjoy his moments.
If he joins the biconics I won’t mind too bad. Though I totally called it, so did many others. :P
What if someone wants to pass out items to a large number of guild mates at once? They currently aren’t able to do more than 2 at a time because they get listed as a spammer. Guild Bank isn’t an option because you can’t trust they won’t just steal, then there’s the problem of likely not being anywhere near a guild bank.
That, to me at least, would be more of a failing on the part of Guild things than trading itself.
Should officers have the ability to disperse items to people within the roster?
I’d think that to be interesting, but not really a “trading” issue.
Of course in GW1 we could only trade to a person that was right there.
Even then it sometimes acted like a hostage negotiation in the past.
“Put the ectos in and you’ll get the mini”
“I don’t see the mini!”
Almost made me want to call up some SWAT unit for crisis intervention.
Blegh. All y’alls are haters! If every other MMO allows this and a trading post system why can’t we?
As someone who was a resident of Spamadan in GW1, I’m extremely thankful for the Trading Post.
Whatever Housing instance ideas they have cooking.
Looks like a nice revamp, especially having the withdrawal box available anywhere.
Won’t that render the Trading Post Express to useless if I can withdraw anywhere?
Overall I’m pleased with this overall, especially with the search features.
I’m also exceptionally pleased with the fact we’ll see all of our deductions and see the actual profit.
@Redenaz:
Also, don’t forget that a specific subset of supposedly veteran players also believes it is perfectly okay to haze new players, and to heavily intimidate them into staying out of their dungeon parties.
All the more reason to have a neutral system like the game itself to teach players the basics and go from there.
Which honestly GW2 lacked in certain spots.

Somewhere, out in the Shiverpeaks, is a Norn dressed in all blue.
He runs around screaming his battlecry SPOOOOOOOON!=D a Tick reference much love sir.
I try to please, especially when hearing news about the live action show coming back.
The global guild thing kind of threw me off. I don’t really have any complaints, but I’m surprised they’re not expanding things like merits, storage, etc. to fit the capacity.
Positive/negative impact? Would this take away from established server communities, or do you think it would create more stability? Do you think they’re moving in a good direction, and shifting the focus so that massive server transfers will have less of an impact on communities as a whole?
I snipped and kept the parts I only know to answer.
For the storage and such, I think its just architecture limitations on the engine.
I hope they do expand it out later. After all more merits and such sound like a good thing.
As for impact I see it as positive, but with massive growing pains.
For the reasons of RP guilds, WvWvW, and what ever other ‘server pride’ guilds out there this will be a difficult thing to accept.
For the casual gamer and those who were in the lower populated servers this is a boon to find more folks and enjoy it with them.
For the nearly non social, yet cordial, folks like me I’ll just ignore you all the same again.
Though now I can’t claim server differences when turning down guild invites. lol
Back to using the guild bank tag I guess.
I can see what ANet is partially trying to do: show new players and returning ones that having a server as a ghost town will be a thing of the past.
Problem is some of their game modes, like WvWvW, require some partitions in order for them to work.
Is your server getting whooped? Well you can’t call out to Lion’s Arch chat for help because now folks from other servers are there. Where can they recruit?
If they want us to use the LFG tool or LFG channel then it would help if they were a bit more useful to begin with.
Overall the older players will remember when they could go to a lower server and solo due to lack of players. Meanwhile newer players will wonder how some thing were ever completed with a ghost town.

Somewhere, out in the Shiverpeaks, is a Norn dressed in all blue.
He runs around screaming his battlecry SPOOOOOOOON!
So now they’re giving us more to explore with AP based on existing materials.
There might even be some short term usage for those karma items the vendors give at hearts.
I don’t know if I’ll enjoy it all the time, but I might use the lists to do something when I’m bored for a day.
