As in title.
We had the runes and sigils reworked in last patches. The trait effects are visible in tooltips. Could we now also get runes/sigils tooltips, to see when it’s on cooldown?

It could look like this or something similiar, ofc properly sized/animated so that everything is clearly visible.

It also depends what size of zerg you will command and against what enemy. In spvp you fight in 5 man teams, in WvW you can get hit by 30 ppl meele train at once if things go wrong, not to mention the constant AoE spam…
The above build seems nice, melandru+lemongrass+trait basically makes you unstoppable. Now you just have to stay unkillable = good positioning, trying to be on enemys back, not letting them be on yours – if you commanded on guardian you should know where to stand. You will also get some support from guardians in your party so it could work out somehow.

The downside is that guardians do have more blocks+group friendly shouts+things like line of warding/empowers on relatively low cooldowns… On ele it’s more selfish and longer cd’s. That 2sec stability from trait is not much, so as mentioned earlier you will need guards near you. Obsidian flesh being your only “oh kitten” button, with its 50sec cd.
I would take Armor of Earth and Blink as a must. Third utility is optional, might be mist form if you expect tough fight, or some stunbreakers – Signet of air for shorter cd, GoEP for longer cd… Funny thing would be Earth Shield – Leap with daze effect, Pull with protection for each enemy pulled, Invulnerability – 3 useful skills, sadly at the cost of 1min cd on shield if you drop it or use the stacks.
With Energy sigil you could try Arcane Brilliance as a heal+blast finisher as well as take Arcane Wave and trait for shorter cd’s on arcanes. Not sure if signet would be good enough, especially if you needed burst heal.
Elite tornado or fgs, your choice.

I don’t know how it would work out for you, different classes have different playstyles. Most commanders are meele for a reason. If you wanna try something new, go for it

Burning retreat is ok. I always turn around camera manually, but pressing “Look behind” button and then making 1 step and using the skill works also.

More annoying is when I use Lighting Flash to escape from zerg, but have some enemy player targeted. After skill is used you are faced towars that enemy and you start running in direction of that enemy, which may lead to suicide >_>

Agreed with above.
Go out to other maps to actually play the game, instead run circles in EoTM trying to avoid the enemy. There are more than one ways to do most of the things in the game, but somehow people choose to push only for the easiest way that needs the lowest effort.
Same for traits. You can just think for yourself in what way you want to develop your character and learn to play it while doing so, instead of unlocking everything and in the end not knowing what to choose and how to play certain builds and stuff.

If you check the release pages or stream on twitch from before the map release, you will see/hear about EoTM being designed as a map where WvW players can go and have fun playing WvW while waiting in queues to join one of the standard maps.
However, because the queues exist only during the evenings in the most populated servers and/or at start of the WvW Seasons, the purpose of the map has been changed by the players themselves and you know in what way.

Now, what is the reason for this?
Lack of people interest in WvW outside of seasons?
No real feeling of being rewarded, except 2 times (actually 1 time) during the season?
No improvements/updates to the game mode (we got WvW masterys and new ruins in last 2 years)?
People leaving because bored of stagnancy?
Problems with balancing the matches?

The old veterans will still play WvW just because this is the only thing in the game that makes them enjoy playing the game – massive Realm versus Realm fights, but even that cannot keep a person in the game forever no matter how dedicated you are.

A word about Megaserver now:
I wish we did not have this system enabled in the major cities.
Reason is simple and very valid:
No more feeling of a server community – you get mixed with ppl from any servers in Lions Arch and other cities/HoTM. How can you even organize your own people if you cannot find them? The system is supposed to group you with the people you most often play with. That is kinda working, but you also get grouped with tons of other random ppl from different servers. I see few familiar nicks every time I’m in LA, but I don’t know anymore if these are ppl from my server or just random guy from “enemy WvW” server.
Of course – if your server has a Team Speak server, you can organize a bit. Problem is – how do you get ppl to join your TS and then help you in WvW if you can’t really find them? Standing in LA shouting “People of XXXXX, please join ts.address.com, we need help ……” doesn’t sound like it’s gonna work.

I understand the need to put ppl from empty maps on different servers into 1 map, to make it feel like it’s not empty and you have someone to play with again.
However, if possible – it would be great to have back the old server based Lions Arch at least, as a place to get “your people” together.

Perplexity Runes

The game is balanced around 5v5, if you don’t have a group where ppl have some shared roles, then it can’t be helped much. If you go solo roaming then it’s your own risk of being ganked by random group of condi+zerker players (which usually happens in around 3-4 min since the start of your adventure). At that point if you’re not a stealth class or some Usain Bolt warrior, you will just have to respawn and restart…

I see the opener is a necro, you might want to check Ascii stream to see how he manages conditions, can pick up some nice tricks.

Well, there is that bug or whatever it’s called even in EU. In keeps or in OS you can see the enemy forces on minimap as orange dots. Doesn’t happen too often, but I had it several times already.
Don’t remember seeing these in openfield, but maybe I just looked at enemy movements instead of paying attention to minimap while in combat…

If you care about dmg only and like seeing big numbers, Infiltrator rune is fun, +12% dmg modifier, some precision and stealth when your hp goes down if i remember well. Some other like strength or pack are ok too but price is high also.

I think after retal hits you, you won’t be above 90% health so runes effect goes away. You have no condi cleanse either so if you get targeted it will end fast with 11k hp. Not to mention random thief or any other sneaky guy.

For the rest, if you stay alive with it and can do the job, just play it… Some enemy zergs quality makes it possible for you to be full zerker and some other doesn’t…

As everyone or at least most of the ppl know, today starts the FIFA Mundial in Brasil. Lot of teams from different countries and lot of fun and interesting games to watch if someone likes.

I wonder if Anet has prepared anything for this occassion? I guess not rly, so we probably have to take care of ourselves

Here comes the idea of Asura Ball – some of you probably have heard/seen or even took part in this kind of event.

What you need:
- basicly you organize 2 teams of players from the same or opposite servers (might be a bit harder to play then cause of all the knockbacks affecting enemies, not only the “ball”)
- find a volunteer to be the ball (some tanky small asura hero)
- set 2 gates from some useless banners on opposite sides of your field
- unequip all gear/remove traits (so that you deal the lowest possible dmg)
- take some weapon that has knockback/push/pull or any effects like this ^^

Suggested places are OS arena (if empty or not many trolls) or the spot around mill (south part of map at borderlands). You can do matches like “first to score 5 goals” and such and then swap the teams if there is many players wanting to take part in it.

Condition Staff build?

Since dire gear (condi/toughness/vit) was introduced most condi builds tend to revolve around it. Making yourself tankier to give the conditions time to work your enemy down or make him run away. Rabid/apothecary/carrion or even celestial, just mix things around, look at the stats and see how it works for you, at least that’s how I like to do it.

You can try experimenting and eventually will find out if you like it or not. In my eyes staff attacks are a bit too slow to work out and make their conditions actually hit and rather work more as support type of dmg. Some mightstacking set or like that maybe? I think you won’t go solo roaming with staff, so it will be a support build for your group and you should look in that direction imo. (Don’t misunderstand support=healing, you can help your group in different ways. Also builds often might look good on paper but suck when you actually try them^^)

Some eles tend to check the food you use before the fight starts and then quickly put traits to counter you perfectly. Ofc you could trick them by using different food pretending to be power necro. Would love to see the ele face that just disabled his diamond skin thinking you’re not condi…

Honestly, I was one of the guys laughing at necros when DS came out, but after playing a bit as condi ele myself I noticed the problem. In some time after few duels against DS ele my build got a bit adjusted so I think it won’t be a problem anymore. Luckily it’s relatively easy to stack might on ele and up both condi and power dmg.
The trait itself made me and probably many other eles have a wide smile on their faces at start, but I admit I don’t like it anymore and haven’t used it since several months. In my opinion any build should have a chance to do at least some damage against any other build in the game, but seeing this one single trait with connection to ele healing abilities allows to disable several other builds, it looks totally unfair to me. I don’t mind it in pve, but against a real human opponent I want a clear challenging fight where I have to act accordingly to situation, not just watch my health bar and keep it above the “magic 90%” which isn’t hard at all on ele – spam dagger autoattack : 250 per cast, go to water if needed : 1k regen + heal 1-2k depending on traits and gear + 1k soothing mist heal over time + 1 or 2 water healing skills depending on weapons – you can add up all day, it just proves that ele is excellent at small heals, and you are just tickling him for 300-400 dmg ^^ I see ppl trying condi ele builds since some time, but oh the irony, not so long ago there was quite much crying about how necros or engis bunker with dire gear, but what is happening now? 3k+ armor 20k hp condi ele ftw? Hypocrisy all the way… I could understand trait like “50% (or xx%) reduced condi duration while above 80% (xx%) hp” similiar to engi one, at least looks more “fair” to full condi builds and does help the ele but doesn’t shut down the enemy totally…

Change epidemic to your skill of choice (plague signet to have more condi remove/send condis back to him when DS is down?) and maybe add sigil of battle on weapons, this is just my theory build, I never played condi necro, only power-well-zergy one… The rest just comes from how experienced you are against eles, dodge the knockbacks, stop attacking when he has shocking aura and such…
Btw: does coming in/out of death shroud count as weapon swap? That would be even more reason for battle sigil.

Without target it often pops somewhere near the bottom, if you notice that it the heat of battle you can try… Otherwise just cast at target and then water 5 to swim through it. The stealth starts at the end of water 5 (leap finisher), but the skill does dmg at the end and you might get revealed if unlucky.

Play any spec you feel good with that fits your gameplay style. “Meta” sounds like old “holy trinity” to me, use this and this blahblah. I don’t like how much ppl repeat or try to clone certain builds or ways of playing. You can always change traits or amulets/runes/sigils “on the fly” if your group needs more support or attack power. Think for yourself, get experience with your own setup and play how you want to play, it’s much more fun to see something that you made yourself working, than winning/loosing in some copied builds or w/e… Just my opinion.

I can tell that when I put that fire trait 25% burn duration increase it wasn’t showing increased burn durations in skills. Was before patch though, would have to check it again, but I guess some bonuses from traits or runes not always show up in skill descriptions…

What I would change is the points system, 1st server – 4 pts, 2nd – 2pts, 3rd – 1pt. I think it would give more reason to actually go and attack the 1st place, than accept that 1 server is strongest/most covered and the fight goes on for 2nd spot or any lower. (at least in EU)

btw I really don’t wanna see bb or deso complain about coverage when bb primetime starts after eu primetime ends and deso golem rush in the middle of the night with 80 man blobs while sfr have 20 defenders that’s the only way deso beat all the other servers in gold league anyway with coverage but when they come up against sfr with similar coverage they lose and cry about double team fact is we focus you we are stronger so the other server in the matchup also focus you. just a few hours ago in jade sea border bay we had both jade blob and deso blob inside lord room same time we wipe you both then deso rage quit the border and jade sea blob flipped your tier 3 hills. Also deso talk about getting points from stomps fact is you actively focus on capping bloodlust and most the time have 2 stacks while sfr have none cause we didn’t care about bloodlust so we get no points from stomps this week though we start to focus on capping bloodlust and I see groups of 4-10 deso zerging the ruins lol pro roaming server.

About loosing hills – I can tell that the commander had to go off after some hrs of leading, resulting in no dorrito – ppl leaving to join zerg on other map most likely.

About 4-10 deso zerging ruins – happens at times probably. I have yet to meet some single or duo of sfr roaming, so far it ends in 1v3+ “only” if lucky, but I can’t complain, that’s how roaming in blob leagues looks like.

the first 3 servers players get mistforget shiny weapon skin + something. No idea what gift of heroes is – maybe to make the ascended version or some backpack who knows. Ascended accessory – well most ppl have those already, maybe some new players doesn’t, so ok, let it be. Mini dolyak – hah Hero’s weapon – non shiny version. Rest can be obtained with 15min farming or whatever, just not worth looking at (from my perspective) :P

The whole 2ble teaming thing – ofc it happened, happens and will happen in future. Momentary or long term, who cares, it’s not forbidden and any server will use the advantage to gain some points/kills at the cost of any other in worst position at that moment. What you can change about it? Get organized, get on TS, get correct gear, follow your commander, join WvW guild and farm your enemies. When they see they’re loosing most of the fights they will think twice before attacking you. Scouting and sieging is part of the whole picture as well. How many times your server looses towers because noone report enemy on time? What you can do about it? Give good example and scout sometimes, teach others how to use siege and what to do when enemy approaches, if the newcomers see it – they will continue the good work, otherwise they will just become zerglings… It’s all in your server interest, and if you want the rewards – in yours as well.

Lot of crying or arguing over things that happened and will continue to happen, unless anet changes something, up to them. Keep on fighting, in game or in forums, whatever you prefer, few weeks still ahead. It’s not match up thread, yet ppl keep bringing things from their matchups, luckily devs haven’t closed it yet, they must have some patience :P Let’s see if BB makes push at Friday, or do we meet in a Sfr-Deso-Js match. Hoped for Kodash, but seems things have changed, too bad, haven’t met those guys since long, curious how they are, roaming was interesting against them usually.

Remove champ bags, from wvw/eotm, and increase a bit rewards for killing players should show the way to go – fight ppl, not champs. If you want champs why not go run in Frostgorge or whatever other map. Had my arguments already with ppl training in eotm, according to them it’s a map where they run circles to lvl up chars and so on… In a pvp type of map, ha ha ha So good that there are other groups or guilds that actually chase them and farm them, maybe then 1 from 20 of these zerglings will see what is real purpose and go that way. Not that blobbing other players is any good, but better than blobbing npc’s to get that stupid champ bag and karma. If commander doesn’t shout stuff like “wait on top of stairs, don’t go to lord room, enemy incoming” then most of the time all puggies go 11111 that champ and stand in circle unaware that their comander and zerg just got wiped, and all that awaits them is death in a few sec

Churning Earth Suggestion

When the enemy is busy with some other ppl it can be fun to go for churning earth, but most of eles just go for burning speed + lighting flash to land full dmg right in the face (if you click all good :P ). The cripple effect is annoying cause it counts as “already doing some damage” and puts the skill on full cd even if it’s cancelled. Maybe if the cripple was removed and the skill would go on full cd only when fully casted, bleh…

Other funny idea I had is: remove cripple, add stealth, bomb bomb bomb! skill description: "hide behind rocks…. " xD Nah, just kidding But stealth bombing (if you don’t get revealed) is fun definately, just imagine the enemy faces if they get critted by few eles (well 2-3 should make them downed definately if skills land). Still in the end I think you can pretty safely land 2x BS in the time of CE, with 15s vs 30s cooldown, with probably much better effects (evade, not sitting in 1 spot waiting for cast and so on). Let’s say it was fun skill long long ago when ppl were not so good with dodging it. Many still can’t, but yeah…

Probably yes.
You can use a rune that gives you that additional condi. For now only 2 give that: perplexity and tormenting, and sigils – doom/torment. Let’s see what the patch brings to the table. Perplexity got nerfed and after ppl complaints it won’t come into spvp either. Hopefully other runes will have some good stuff.

Also you can just go with raw dmg build. I try condi only because I’m alrdy bored of old builds and wanna see if this will work

Well, dagger has good condi application and focus has good defensive abilities. I use it in WvW roaming or duels and trying in spvp sometimes (I don’t play much there – amulets, not much customized stats pla pla). I don’t think condi ele has much use in pve, I don’t play there anymore (almost), dungeons and other stuff – just go with those lightning hammer or other builds I guess – mobs are just mobs, they can’t clean condis, but condis don’t kill as fast as raw dmg… So kill fast and move on

Fire atunement – #2 drake’s breath allows you to put burns for a long duration with it’s short cooldown, use when you don’t see the enemy on fire; #3 burning speed usually makes the enemy dodge but since it’s condi build it doesn’t do that much dmg, wasted dodge is good for you though, also a fire field.
Water – #3 and #4 are 2 chills on short/long distance; #5 comet as interrupt on relatively short cd – 25s, but with telegraphed ring, so it’s possible the enemy dodges this. Depending on enemy it’s good to use it when you feel like he is gonna heal (around 50% or so) or go to stealth (thieves, mesmer elite).
Air – #2 for weakness to lower enemy dmg if he is bursty, condi filler if he is not; #3 shocking aura is good disable, if you fight thief especially (when he went invisible wait 2-3 sec and use it, good chance he will try backstab and get stunned); #4 is very good skill against all those engis/rangers, you can cast this and just use ether renewal with low chance to get interrupted; #5 is non telegraphed interrupt, use carefully cause it has long cd and it’s easy to waste it on random dodge.
Earth – #1 bleeds, bleeds, bleeds – if the enemy is already burning I try to stack some bleeds, it takes time however; #2 is 1 stack of bleed and cripple, can be used as condi filler or just to help you chasing the enemy, your choice; #3 immobilize, after using this I noticed many enemies use their condi clean “omg I can’t move, I’m gonna die” even if it’s not the case with condi cause you can’t rly burst them… ; #4 is one of the best skills here – 3 condi clean + cripple + blast finisher + reflect projectiles – you get me? One of the reasons I use trait to lower earth skills cooldowns, saved my kitten countless times and can turn tides of the fight to your favour depending on enemy (it mostly does :P ); #5 this is the 2nd reason that I traited earth skills for cooldowns, 40s from 50s, you can think it’s not big difference but it actually helps a lot “ahhh crap 2s more and I would be immune” in these situations

The other skills I didn’t mention aren’t that good. Fire wall or fire shield are just “meh” – casted because it wasn’t on cooldown type

Focus was rarely used but last times it’s getting common, at least in spvp ppl going glasscannon trying to burst while having those defensive abilities. With dagger offhand it’s more dmg but also higher risk I think. In condi builds you need the time to let the conditions eat your enemy and this is the reason I use focus – defensive skills give me that time. No point in posting build I guess cause the patch will change it probably, standard 0 0 20 20 30 traits atm, used to be 0 0 30 20 20 but EA is just too good + atunement cooldowns slightly shorter allow you to use the skill you currently need practically right away. The rest comes with how good you use it, how good you know the enemy class and guess what he is gonna do and react to that.

Broski you just need the time and practice :P I remember my first fight with condi engi on d/f – I lost so miserabely, I had no idea what the skills do what or how should I fight with this. Now engi is rarely a problem.

With 14k hp you wont live long in WvW. Post what gear you use, or search for some WvW oriented build maybe, to get some tips. Staff is quite good weapon atm.

Maybe in pve you can get that number but in pvp or wvw no chance, unless enemy is some newbie with 0 condi cleanse or condi duration reduction.

As above. You try to make a frontline char from ranged. Your high armor and hp wont help much if you stand in the wrong place. Not much dmg from this either, it looks more like a meat shield tbh :P Well, everyone is free to play how he wants so suit yourself.
I can tell necro or guard have very easy ways to tag ton of enemies and can deal more dmg or better support the team than what you try to achieve.

Theoreticly the gates have limit on how many rams can be put in standard conditions, however we all know that players can bypass that limit (see screenshots on this or other forums with 6+ rams on single gate).

Player damage to gates through spamming skills was reported as broken long ago but nothing was done about it. Ranged damage can be somehow stopped ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpEey3Z_6J0 ) but meele not. Somehow Anet have not adressed this issue either, so I guess they’re ok with it. However reducing/removing player dmg to gate could help to reduce the amount of blobs around and make players to split around (no longer needed to take your 80man to take down gate in around 1m with no siege – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VtE8IYbgpQ)

I wish all classes had the initiative system. Get rid of cool downs! Don’t argue that theifs are the most squishy class in the game and that is why they dont have cool downs with that level of evasion, because we all know elementalists are the squishiest class, without even stealth.

Or go the other way around – give thief skills with reasonable cooldowns instead of initiative, kitten on Heartseeker would solve the 2222 spammers

Stealth really is a strong mechanic and the better and more creative the player is – the more over powered it looks, starting from the 2222 spammers through perplexity interrupt spammers to some pistolwhip or d/p stealth spammers… If these skills had cooldowns instead cost of initiative it would surely require more timing and thinking what to use (I’m not saying thieves doesn’t think what they’re doing… well some don’t) and if it goes wrong I’ll just stealth. Fighting invisible thief is a matter of luck if you manage to hit him and down (if he goes stealth at very low hp) – if not he just comes back at you with much health regenerated oe resets the fight. You with your cooldowns still run around circles hitting the air while he already has full initiative and prepares to take you down. Time to respawn.

I do have some experience fighting thieves and more or less know what to expect and how to react, but even that doesn’t guarantee I’ll be able to kill him. Either I get bursted/outcondtioned and kited around (lol) or he runs away unless he stays too long to die from my condis/lucky last lightning whip after he stealthed – that would end in my win.

Imagine then some fresh player who get’s jumped “WTF! there was noone around”, “oh kitten I gotta dodge” (even though he already took the dmg) and so on. Just the psychological effect is enough to turn the winning tide for the thief by a lot (unless you are prepared to fight stealth class at any time). Not seeing the enemy is one of the strongest mechanics in this game if not the strongest. Jumping in and out of fight “on a whim” does feel unbalanced (just as lack/too much mobility from this or any other class) and the complains from players are totally reasonable. How (or maybe) Will this mechanic ever get changed? Who knows, but the discussions will keep on going for sure ^^

Focus could have some traits indeed, but I have hard time to imagine what anet would give us. Maybe just add “and focus” to the dagger traits In the end hardly anyone picks these. Since focus has mostly defensive type skills some trait with regens or bonus toughness come to mind – dunno, maybe some day we see something. Some new GM traits coming soon, so in future maybe other traits get replaced/renewed, especially the ones never used (10% faster resurrecting etc)…

I’m using condi build atm and with earth traits I took 20% faster recharge, really nice to have these 2 skills back up much faster. Air #5 is very long cooldown and it often misses if enemy keeps dodging around or you fight thief/mesmer/guarian with lot of stealthing or blocking (aegis) – wasted often, but cba to go into air just to reduce cd on that. Water chill and comet have ok cooldowns/effect imo. Other than that not much useful/needed skills there.

I hope these changes include a fix to the bugs the perplexity rune currently has… I don’t know if the confusion duration currently works – there have been several discussions about that, but the other bugs (like applying the 6/6 effect to yourself when you get interrupted by – e.g. spike traps in Weyandt’s Revenge while casting Ether Renewal, shards in Thaumanova when they trigger their knock back, etc.) already “survived” one nerf to this rune. I hope they fix them this time…

Don’t forget thief basilisk venom (if rune is not on cd ofc)
