problem with the prelude isnt the amount of content.
its the fact that its way too easy for a high level toon.

for an alt or somebody lower level, it can be awesome
for high levels, it feels like going to work at the shop because nothing keeps you on your toes.

shes totally does all that she wants.

can i make an alt for the living story? if i get laurels can i use them to buy an ascended neck for my pretty invincible guard ?

i loved the jumping puzzle in the eternal battleground.

sometimes, not all enemy players will attack you.
but some do.
its really a really nice ride to do it.
(except when many people are camping the last part).

i d like more content like this.
pvp “dungeon” type stuff.

The Shadow
Type: Shortbow
Effect: The bow itself wavers, looking like it’s made from solid shadows, existing only faintly. Firing it shoots dark wavering arrows with no weapon trail behind them.
Reason: Thieves are stealthy, kitten

no. thieves shoot rainbow powered unicorns.

all these little childish things are ok.

but a weapon ? it isnt as constrained or temporary as events or holiday content.
you can actually attack Jormag with rainbow unicorns while sporting a quaggan backpack.
if anet wanted to go for a japanese rpg type of feel, akin to final fantasy, with girly stuff and childish things, then i feel they kind of lacked imagination with that bow.
the quaggan backpack is “ok” if japanese rpg is the look.
but a bow like that is unexcusable.

For a company that takes their lore as seriously as ANet supposedly does, a unicorn with their logo slapped on its butt is beyond bizarre. It makes absolutely no sense in a world where Unicorns and ANet do not exist. Immersion destroyed. Kthxbai.

forget the lore.

its quaggan backpack galore!! (how many do you think they sold?)

it brings more money and it s easier to do!!
who cares!! its just a game!! have fun!!

big norn in pink isnt as intrusive as this bow.

anyway.
i think i said my point enough:
nearly all the content that came out since release is very childish;
costumes, candies, toyweapon, mini pets, quaggan backpack, unicorn bow…

i am not a happy customer right now.
i was expecting stuff with a slightly more mature flavor.
the unicorn bow is only the drop to much.

anyway.
not happy.

thats it.
im not angry about you guys who enjoy this stuff.

I also am shocked at how upset some people are about a bows graphic, I think it looks cool/funny and doesn’t bother me, the effect IS a bit too big though if something had to be changed… so nice to see all these interesting legendary weapons being made by ANet keep up the good work.

Some of you over the top macho dudes really love your video game immersion wow… come on just get your Dusk and stomp those colorful rainbow noobs down in your black bleeding fiery armor and get over it.

not the type of game i was expecting.
and dressing up all black to stomp the rainbow peeps is just as much childish.

thats the problem; its too childish.
i must be getting old and sad

nikkistar;
the
question
is:

as a designer, would you have put such bow in gw2 ?

my answer; ill put anything in that kitten game as long as it sell on the cash shop. so put out a survey and do it!

Your statement is invalid because we can’t buy the bow on the cash shop.

you totally can use gems to get one, or part of one.
items that are not available on cash shop are dungeon skins and scended stuff for exemple.

my statement was smart.

Well since I am a graphic designer and coder, I have no issues with putting “troll” weapons into games. There is a game (I will not name the game) that has a rainbow level where you kill teddy bears, unicorns, and flowers. Another game has a unicorn gun, that has the unicorn screech when you shoot rainbows that come out of it’s butt, and goes googley eyed when it is out of ammo.

There are a lot of games, with “troll” weapons such as this. It is meant to be humorous. If you can’t find the humor in it, then you are sorely lacking a funny bone.

Let me give you an example:
Let’s say, I hate the color red. Well because aesthetically, I hate this color, then I shouldn’t put it in the game, because I hate it.

im a fashion/graphic designer.
and i laughed the first time i saw it.
but that kind of “funny stuff” will get old really fast, and it’s a “legendary” item, not some throwaway wooden toy skin.

its a very important subject.
we are trying to discuss to see what level of absurdity is acceptable in this game to keep the majority of people happy.

as it is now, we are getting more and more childish stuff;
mini pets, quaggan backpack, unicorn bow, toy weapon, etc
the balance is upset probably, and thats why we get threads like this.

it affects the way i see the game.

its like comparing call of duty and borderland.
i like both, for different reason.
but if i play call of duty and i find a gun that fires rainbow unicorns…

its an exageration, but thats whats happening.
i expected some childish and silly stuff in gw2.
like i said, the ad to sell you mini was a 6y old girl in her bedroom…
but lets say many more weapon follow that absurd trend….
we re gonna have unicorns, chimpanzee, goldfish, boxing gloves, shields with clown face, and pistols that make farting sounds everywhere in the game world???

im just here to give my opinion; and i give it hardcore:
probably that stuff like that sells, but for the sake of your game… dont do it.

they wont listen anyway, but i had to say it.

If the graphics of one item makes you want to quit a game, then I say, <snipped inflammatory comment>.

Can you please point me to the posts that say they were going to quit the game? I think I saw 2. The rest of the people are merely expressing their opinion. If you disagree, why not state your case for why you disagree instead of telling people they aren’t allowed to express their opinion?

Oh please, this made me actually roll my eyes in real life. “Snipping out inflammatory comment” makes you look overly sensitive in all aspects of life. You shouldn’t take a game so seriously, man.

Indicate where I said they couldn’t express them? Do not put words in my mouth, I simply stated my own opinion about how I perceive all the trivial sniveling I read on this thread. Crying over graphics, please. Graphics making you want to leave the game, graphics making you want to not group up with people, rinse and repeat. All of them should pull them up.

You want a reason, you got it in my previous statement. The Dreamer has ALWAYS had a unicorn, and already shot out rainbows. Who flipping cares, it’s a game.

nobody “cares” that much.
yeah its just a game.
and a worst one imo because of designs like these.

to each his own. we all have an opinion.

and personnaly i think this bow is so very cheesy and doesnt fit into the setting more than the aviator sunglasses and boxing gloves.
(holiday cheesiness i usually am ok with. its an holiday..)

i think that most of all these cheesy items are available for real money (legendary to, most people use some gems to get parts of them) so it says a lot about who the target customer for these items is. .. i wont get into detail.

anet makes money out of this.
and thats it.
they probably dont care at all about anything else. “guild wars” just isnt a legendary setting. its a themepark, and it will go down in history as such, but most probably forgotten. and the devs will have enough cash for their retirements

im ok wit making money but this is absurd
in a few years youll go on gw lore wiki and see that zhaitan was defeated when the hero shot a raibow unicorn on its buttcheek and went back home riding his broom and carrying the loot in his quaggan backpack.

nearly all the new content they did goes into that direction.
the reason is probably monetary.
these things must sell… they have the stats.

buy yeah, its a bit disapointing for people who dont like that.

It’s not about being too manly or too serious, it’s the simple fact that it does not fit in GW2.
It’s like a monster truck in a medieval setting, except that moster trucks are awesome at least.

I remember when people said this about the engineer’s mines having LED lights.

They said they would refuse to play if they were not changed.

next patch your pistol will make fart sounds and you’ll have a shield with a clowns face on it.

seriously, I (hopefully we) are trying to say; we accepted a lot of stuff we dont really feel immersive or cool, but now, it s too much.

I actually really like the dreamer. It’s a well designed, and pretty bow. The original rainbow effect was really cool too.

This new effect, however, is just ostentatious. Arrows leaving a rainbow trail was tasteful. Firing Unicorns is just gaudy.

edit: how about instead of firing Unicorns you just let the players footsteps leave a rainbow puddle?

100% agree the unicorn killed it. im ok with the rainbow if it isnt too overwhelming.
