gosh skyrim was epic !
not mmo capable (scale of locations, simple combat)
but as a sp game; epic!
all i will say is: dont fall for the never ending hype…
seems like a pattern they abuse.
just enjoy the game as it is
make the boon icons different colors so at least if i check quickly i can see what boon they have.
exemple;
stability- black
might- red
swiftness- yellow
protection- blue
could be a helper.
My exotic Norn Guardian
hope you like her like me
i totally dig the concept!
does it slow down the game ?
basically, the players are changing and the game needs to adapt.
the players want the farm/grind.
most of them dont care for a rewardless jumping puzzle.
most of them dont care for exploration, they follow a “leveling up guide”.
kitten sad.
it depends a LOT on how you play the game.
imo, the “internet information” is breaking the game more than helping it.
players have no patience for junping puzzles; they google the answer.
players have no patience to test builds and weapons; they google one.
players just google the game.
in the end, players are screwing it for themselves.
mostly.
im 250h+ in game, only 45% map complete, i dont have all my exotic weapons and trinkets, only one character and about 1.5gold in my pouch.
just arrived on cursed shore, never saw the karkaland.
so, id much rather they upgrade the game foundations for now.
and make wvwvw allright so its ready for my arrival (after finishing my story provably).
Nobody is going to go back to Orr as long as fractals exists as the exclusive content for ascended gear and best-in-game drops — fact.
this is a fact and a major issue.
my guess is that anet wanted to buy themselves some time to prepare the big improvement patches of january to march.
so they nerfed everything and gave us the fractals.
its allright.
about the subject; orr is meant for hero. anybody who says thats its “tedious” need to go back to queensdale!
SAVE YOURSELF!
RETREAT!
ill stay in orr
i TOTALLY agree about banning worst offenders.
they ALL deserve it, and really, i hope that the affected guild can start over with better people.
everybody was aware of the punishment, then why do it ? it makes you feel smarter ?
whatever.
im 100% on anet s side in this one.
GotY, Gw2 got it by default, there’s no competition.
There’s nothing new here, it’s all been done before by the Koreans.
It could very well be a very different outcome next year.
i agree here, we are a bit late in the west for that type of game.
and gw2 DEFINITELY HAVE A HUGE NCSOFTESQUE INFLUENCE.
my first game of the genre, i like it! but yeah, i hope the future of mmos is even better/smarter!
Guild Wars 2 does deserve GotY.
- The forum community has a vocal minority made of grinders, farmers, addicts and exploiters – exactly the kind of people other MMOs catter to, and who GW2 is trying to avoid.
Little to no surprise to read the negativity here from the same people over and over.
Congrats to ArenaNet for making such a great game. Remember to keep it great by listening to your real target audience, instead of trying to catter to the grinders and farmers and addicts and exploiters.
haha, i must reluctantly agree with that
yeah, if you take the game as is for a 300 to 500h its simply glorious.
for a lot of players, this game will take months to finish.
its goty right there.
please remove your addict and critic narrow vision goggles.
as an epic playthru, its kitten solid!
ive never played a mmo as much as gw2.
its fluid, pretty, gameplay is fun, its huge, i like the playforming part.
perfect, no. not at all, far from it.
it wouldnt be goty, but since i cant stop playing and cannoy get myself to play xcom or finish my far cry 3 campaign.
well, its goty.
^ this
actually, as a somewhat casual player (just starting curaed shore on my first toon), i was reading the forums and seeing this or that complaint…
Orr being among them, as “too difficult”.
Gosh, im already more than halfway thru it and seriously.. no problem there.
is it a bit harder than other zones? yes.
but lol at people saying it needs a nerf…really some people must come from some other mmo for kids even younger than target kids for gw2.
anyway.
the grind in this game is; legendary and ascended backpack.
thats it.
and by the time you get there….
i mean, i am already having a tuff time getting myself geared up with exotics armors and 3-4 weapon sets + trinkets.
and 1-2 sets of runes.
gosh.
i like Orr.
its ok to be somewhat painful to go thru, i dont want it any other way.
and btw, to the poster above; lyssa is totally doable with 4-5 players.
simply, its a simple case of l2p. the second/third time youll try it, youll understand it and beat it.
the hardest part is actually to find the group! cause the loot aint epic.
i really dont see the problem with Orr.
im there at the moment (just finished malachor’s leap and starting cursed shore) and really everything is going fine. i never die from a few mobs. maybe cause im a guardian?
i think some people just want easy mode (and really orr isnt “that” hard).
i mean, i go to Orr when i dont want to break my head and relax, after a few explore dungeons/fractal.
To the people complaining about ORR , It is a war zone an end game zone full of dangers it is not meant to just be run through easily . I Admit fighting your way through tons of undead for no rewards is horrible , but let me ask you guys this " If rewards were better would you still be complaining ?
GW1 players will remember Desolation area and Nightmare area , and understand , But you got uber loot from doing those areas
for 95% of the playerbase, the endgame grind (read: 250ectos or 1850 fractal relics) are not meant to be grinded, but purchased with real money (read: gems).
orr is fine.
mobs dont botter me. i can aggro 4-5 easily with my greatsword guardian.
the “only” slight issue is the temples.
for that you need to spam map chat.
actually gw2 dumbest problems are the grouping and the fractals(great dungeon design but so not smart implementation).
that, and the fact that in the end, its a themepark mmo, and my prediction is that this genre of game is in its last stretch.
somebody smart will design the new greatest mmo evntually.
i absolutely believe in this, but i wont believe dev hype anymore.
I’d like to support this thread. If you want lobby games, go play something else with no world and endless dungeons. Thank you, have fun!
Me and many other players wish to experience the world to the fullest!
can we have the best of both worlds ?
more instanced content; could be a dungeon or a “war event” (defend or storm a castle) or whatever else.
but as it is now, the open world replay value isnt good enough for the longterm.
obviously.
i will only have about 50% map completion at the end of my story.
from then on, ill just grind dungeons (i already started).
so basically, a lot of their work ill never see unless i make an alt or decide to just go faceroll the area (which i wont).
they would need to make a kind of grind that requires you to do certain things in this or that map, to unlock certain stuff.
actually, it should have been there from the start;
certain runes/sigils available only if you completed certain task, and maybe other kind of gear or keys for dungeons/other parts of the map.
i want all weapon they can put in!
would love the axe.
and whips.
and claw cloves.
and flails.
all of them.
and lot of love for wvwvw.
hahah
yeah life is unfair.
but a lot of people are learning it the soft way; in mmos!
i hope they’ll remember this chest later in their life, when the unfair demon crit hit them…
not that i wish that to happen to anybody.
acidic my man.
2 out of 2.
you lasts posts were great.
watch out not to get banned.
i didnt participate in the event. i was on a business trip.
you guessed wrong.
agreed on that.
send it to everybody.
i wouldnt like anet to waste ressources trying to “investigate”.
im quite certain that people that already have one wouldnt “complain” that they had to “work” to get that loot.
seriously…
its possible…
life aint fair i guess.
but a game must be?
Generally, if it wants to retain customers.
And ArenaNet has only 1 important metric – concurrent users. This is the only figure that matters to them, and they are willing to do anything to increase this figure.
If being fair, or unfair, results in more concurrent users, then you can be sure that is the way they will go.
on that i agree.
the problem is, the majority will never be happy.
whatever anet does.
you know how it is;
“you can only please 10% of the people, 10% of the time”.
voila.
gaming is becoming a job ?
i play 10-15h a week.
love the game! its taking a lot of my free time.
anyway, i get the idea.
its like if you parents buy your bro a toy and none for you.
i remember i would have been so angry!
we had to get the exact same.
life aint fair i guess.
but a game must be?
is that “bag” that important ??
(edited by Avatar.1923)
i find it sad that some people go all ballistic for a toy chest
aint the end of the world coming soon ?
problem is; a lot of gamers (mmos especially) are really young, or angry people.
its an immature gaming genre i think.
seriously OP.
did ascalon dungeon, most boss were locked down on the ground by 2 party members spamming “the boulders”.
a bit cheesy.
well Max,
i got many infractions for telling people about the value of life…
make what you want of it. until the governement starts to put warnings on the game box.
NO
you dont need to grind.
and thats why;
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/GW2-liberated-the-mmo-genre/first#post938345
omg…
next big thing will come and you ll play it.
the era of playing the same game for 10y is finished!!
nobody will accept “the stoopid endgame”.
just play another mmo.
btw; GW2 is the best mmo to date.
as is, with a smile
agreed.
we need something like statistics after a dungeon, or ranking/title in wvwvw amd spvp.
just something to be proud of and show off!
(or not if your no good
as it is now, i never know whos the “real heroes” in my parties.
this game is like a baby born jesus !
savior of the mmo genre.
but, no grinding for me.
all pve content done once, some repeated dungeons and thats it.then its pvp / wvwvw time !
thats when youll see my true powerI enjoy a little bit of grinding, especially when its gonna make me money xD
feel like “working”.
i dont need the money.
just need my gear.
and if the game makes me grind too much to stay competitive, i quit.
marginal upgrades as weve see so far doesnt even bend a hair on my balls.

its allright. just stop playing or do pvp/wvwvw…
do you unlock “every” achievements in all the game you play???
an mmo is still just a game.
a huge one.
but not meant to be eternal….
next big thing will come and its better like that.
you get to experience all kind of new content instead of grinding the same thing over and over.
so why hurt yourself ?
mmos are not meant to be eternal.
see it as a 400-500h game and everything will be fine.
there is a lot of new mmo coming next year.
why keep playing ultima online ?
unless you are keen on the “internet community” thing…
some people need that, maybe.
yeah.
go pvp or wvwvw man, or go play something else and come back later.
its not a life.
its a game;
and..
everybody should be looking for the next best thing.
gw2 will survive, so does ultima online.
but ultimately, mmos are for me very long games that still DO have an ending.
and you deserve better than keep grinding…
so move on.
(and keep your account in case of new content and to wvwvw once it a while…)
pvp is epic in the game, 1 on 1 is cool when it happens.
somebody call a doctor.
play the game.
dont worry.
when you feel pissed, move on.
we are in 2012 and the mmo genre has been liberated by gw2.
youll see a lot of mmos coming out in the next few years!
play a few, for 300h each ?
have fun and realise how all the great mmo experience are much better than your wow raids and your tough life.
they are not supposed to be eternal (aside for a small community.. gosh, ultima online got a patch today!)
but mmo should be a one shot pay, 300-500h content, single pay with some cash shop.
finish it, then move on.
great isnt it ? i want more games like this!!!
everybody should be looking for the next best thing.

no monthly btw…
the wow era of mmo is over.
now we will get the mmos we deserve!
