well, if repeating pve is your fun. allright.
otherwise pvp / wvwvw, will hopefuly get some love and this game will rock even more.
I told you that you were new.. you’ll soon be repeating everything over and over again. Mind you
no.
why?
ill do wvwvw or pvp. wait for new content.
and/or move on to other game while rembering gw2 as one of the best game i ever played, as i would or a single player game.
im not a grinder, by that i mean, not a content repeater.
d3 was over for me the day i cleared it on inferno difficulty.
and i stopped playing wow after my first raid.
IGN also put GW2 in their top 10 finalist.
anyway.
maybe if they put 2012 forum of the year then GW2 will win.
probably because it have the biggest number of players that hate the game but play it for over 300h. full time job btw.
excelsior!
well, if repeating pve is your fun. allright.
otherwise pvp / wvwvw, will hopefuly get some love and this game will rock even more.
mrsilver…
thats a sad story….
why do you keep playing ??
every time you did a new event, new dungeon, new map…
remember those moments and… vote gw2.
250h isnt that new.
i heard dishonored is about 20h.
If you’re good at it it’s more like 6h. But the game is really good It will hopefully get DLCs with more story missions later. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that the story is not finished, it’s just that hardcore gamers managed to start running trough it really fast want MORE of it. The game is really awesome. You should definitely try it
the hardcore gamers are on this forum. showing off their full exo 100% map and sometimes legendary gear and also complaining about the game…
every game have a finite ammount of pve content, be it mmo or sp game.
and gw2 is a 200+h ride.
its epic.
most haters are only thinking about the fact that they want more and they keep grinding.
but in reality, they finished the game. you needed a big “game over” on a black screen or a cutscene to explain that ?
i can live with ascended gear.
doesnt change my game, really.
or so minimaly that it doesnt matter…
thats more than 10 times more.
and its not over yet…
and im still high.
250h isnt that new.
i heard dishonored is about 20h.
witcher was kick kitten too !
but gw2 is seriously a design feat, and a baby step into the future of fantasy mmo.
love the action gameplay in pvp, wvwvw and pve.
love the scale of the world.
challenging fights in some packed area / dungeons.
not perfect yet, but the beginning of a great voyage.
my choice was purely based on coolness factor.
guardian is my first and only toon. i had no clue at all about the game when i started.
but i love “divine magic” type characters.
obviously voted for GW2.
its epic, and i spend an insane amount of time in it.
250h so far.
and i’m looking to start doing some wvwvw.
it is the same as other mmos in its current state.
with better everything (mostly).
but we are far from a revolution.
can Anet change the whole thing? how long will it take for them to make content that will feel revolutionary in term of online world ?
i doubt it.
but hey, everybody have its chance in this world!
btw, i enjoy the game.
but its clearly a classic “mmo”.
man, its FANTASY.
same kind of fantasy as Santa Claus.
btw, he doesnt make sense too you know.
gw2 never tried to have even an hint of logic.
dont expect it.
just feel the christmas spirit!
la lala la la!
if you add up pvp and wvwvw, and all classes, mastering this game is on fact probably close to a thousand hours.
just one class is still 500+.
and good luck being in the best spvp team, even after 500.
exactly, and along the next updates anet will adjust the drop rate to compensate for the end of gem shop and youll be able to harvest some more.
its a controlled game, after all.
re your post update;
the grind.
ok, there is a slight grind.
but the grind is not necessary to unlock more content or to be distinctively stronger. imo.
the whole game is about getting better gear and exploring.
when you start to redo the same content endlessly for a small bonus, i really think its “game over”. again, imo, its time to level and alt or wait for anet to put more content.
keep in mind; a good amount of players are in fact grinders, and anet wants to be nice to them too.
there is pvp too. if you like. this is an area in which i think they dropped the ball. i dont feel its well structured. but thats my opinion.
all in all, gw2 is cool for different type of players, not perfect at any of those type of game, but the fact that it actually incorporate all those types of games and make them “quite” good, is already a huge feat!
just being cool;
yeah, this game could be better.
want to discuss about it?
maybe if i know how many hours you played so i can gauge where you re from and whats left of original content for you.
and maybe i knew what type of games you like so we can see how gw2 could be improve so that you become constructive and less complaining.
then it would be a start.
im still cool.
right now these flowers are mostly only available on the gem shop.
its a paid shinny.
get it if you really want, otherwise get another kind of shinny.
doesnt matter really.
what disscussion ?
some people say the game is good, some people say it is bad.
whos right?
if you want to take one aspect of the game and discuss how it could be improved, that would be a discussion.
right now, its only opinion voicing.
btw, GW2 is perfect.
:/
these server stats are only counting accounts on each servers.
not actual players logged in at any moment. lol.
otherwise you would see a HUGE difference between day and night time, and clearly there isnt.
every new shinny is expensive.
time will drive the cost lower.
or higher if more bots join the game to devaluate money.
or if anet decicde to change the drop rate / amount on TP.
i honestly wouldnt suggest any sane person to take an mmo economy seriously
a lot of people are buying gems.
a LOT.
well you are one hell of a critique.
i play 15h a week since release.
thats 2 work days.
i have not nearly come close to burn out the content.
you, my friend, i dont know whats good for you… maybe change game style? mmo are taking your life away + you seem to feel miserable and hated all the ones you played…
if you did all the content (all dungeons explo and map complete), obviously you will play less.
but thats like 400h ?
i mean.. that would have been playing minimum 30hours a week since release.
do you think a lot of people have done that??
hellkaiser, how many hours did you play and WHY ?

dude.
its a game about slashing baddies and getting loot in a beautiful environement.
mini games wont stand a chance unless they give loot or if playing it is required for map completion.
not many players want to “keg brawl”.
that kind of stuff is really meant for people who live in gw2.
eventually if anet throw in a monthly or daily shinny for it, then youll see some people.
or you grind pve, or continue the progressionless pvp/wvwvw.
btw just trolling, i am 175h in and love the game so far! just hit 80.
its suppose to be pvp and wvwvw, unfortunately, they missed the ball on the modes for these.
no rank, no team, no help, no goal etc.
if they could have made these 2 modes much more organized and meaningful and cool, it could have rocked.
I play an average of 15-20h per week since release.
I am very far from having seen the whole content.
Actually, i’m workin on my exotics now.
and GOSH, i have a hard time finding players to do story mode dongeons!
if i can play 15h a week , i dont like to wait 1h each time i want to find a group.
but thats my only complaint, otherwise, game is Great for my playstyle and when i see a too with 100% map and a legendary and full dungeon armor and commander status… i… am amazed and saddened by his dedication.
its true that the game feels more barren and everybody seems to be high level addicts.
its a problem with the mmo genre. people are tired of it. they are seeing WoW dying, nobody feels like playing WoW 2, and this is why blizzard wont make WoW 2…
At the end of the day, when you finished your main story and dwelled in dungeons here and there. its game over for PvE. only “some” people will actually go for the grind… casuals don’t grind or repeat content.
and in all honesty, pvp and wvwvw need a LOT OF LOVE from Anet because they don’t feel right. no progress, no social, just bland player killing. its missing something and it isnt the gameplay/combat, its something else.
i think we are seeing the beginning of the end of “mmos are forever” type mentality.
WoW did it, but people are starting to be fed up by the formula already.
the “mmo genre” needs a REVOLUTION, and GW2 is not that revolution.
You can see the trend with shorter, tighter games like Dishonored doing good for themselves and mmos and d3 style games struggling.
the “treadmill” is still just that, a treadmill.
things are meant to end, eternity is not a good thing, youll get sick and bored and pessimist and maybe grow teeth.
anyway, at 300-400h, GW2 is still very very long.
and if you want to play more, all good! you can too!
but dont expect more content all the time if you play 40h a week…
if you did all you wanted to do.
then its “game over”.
yeah, games are not meant to be played forever and ever.
unless you feel like it, of course!
but asking for more, more, MORE, when you said you clear up 4 MAPS IN A DAY.
its unfair for the devs.
Isn’t the average /age for reaching 80 about 100 hrs?
Another NCSoft game I played took 2500-3k hours to max level.
more like 150h if you are not rushing from quest to quest.
anyway, 80 doesnt change much..
lvl 60 zones are still relatively challenging for a newly 80!
@bluebird
you are speaking for me.
except i only have 36% map complete.great game taken into moderation! and thats relative as i play probably 15-20h a week!!!
Same. I’ve got over 400 hours of playtime in the game, and I don’t have 100% world completion.
i wonder what % of the active players and what amount of time played on the “total of time played by all players in gw2” is accouted by elitist and game junkies who have 100% map completion.
i actually so see yellow stars here and there; and to me it is astounding. but it isnt uncommon!
and are these players, a necessity for the game future ? what would happen to gw2 right now if all the yellow star and legendary weilding players quit ?
thats for the game designers to understand and cope with
personnaly, im at 180h played and i feel as im not keeping up with the big majority of players. intense.
thing is, if you play 15-20h a week maximum, the game unfolds at a really nice pace; and basically, you wont be able to see the end of it.
btw, 15-20h is a lot. no ?
a newly 80 will find challenge in lvl 60+ zones.
a newly 80 isnt fully geared.
i know i am not. and i wont “grind” dungeons to be.
ill continue what i was doing, some explo, some dungeon…
the game basically unfolds itself at a nice pace if you dont take it as a “must grind to get best gear asap”. problem (or not) is that the game allows such practice and 95% of people who complain about the game are grinders.
i mean, just doing all the 60 to 80 zones at my pace (i look around and talk to npcs, and do a dungeon here and there) is another 50h…!
@bluebird
you are speaking for me.
except i only have 36% map complete.
great game taken into moderation! and thats relative as i play probably 15-20h a week!!!
@jamasont;
some players played and are playing A LOT.
and they play fast, to go at top fast. thats their goal.
its a rat race. and when they reach the top and realize after many hours that their life just passed them by, they complain there is no endgame.
there is a lot of content in the game.
thats your endgame.
they will also add more. and pvp and wvwvw will get polished.
thats your endgame.
(until they gave in to the hardcore endgamers; fractals for you guys, best loot and endless!!! have fun)
I have just recently hit 80. I find your post great. There is still plenty to do. i have only 175 or so hearts completed. Between that and all the other dungeons and exp modes i still have months of content. The best part is I am not paying so if i get bored i just need a break and come back in a couple of days.
exactly my situation.
180h played in 3 months, just hit lvl 80.
i have one exo, my weapon.
so i need the full armor and other weapons.
map completion is 36%.
3 dungeons story mode left to do
im fractal lvl 4.
i havent wvwvw yet, and im rank 2pvp.
for me, the game is huge and epic and fun.
but, i totally understand that people that play full time complain about this and that; but you know what ITS A COMPUTER GAME.
GW2 is a great themepark/treadmill game.
its a WoW on steroid. nicer, better balanced, more action etc etc.
but it isnt a revolution, and the jaded players will feel tired.
thats why the game needs to be good at bringing different types of new players to this mmo genre.
did GW2 succeed at that ?
only person that didnt like mmo that tried GW2 that i know of, never got into it, he quit at around lvl 30 saying this game is sterile and souless like all other mmos.
anyway, gw2 is no revolution, but for a lover of the themepark/treadmill genre; its super cool and i rate it highly.
I’ve been amazed that people think anything in GW2 is grindy, though I guess it is subjective, but I think back to when it took me 6 solid weeks of play to get from level 59 to 60 in hell level days of Everquest one or that it takes billions of exp to get to max level in Lineage 2……. Games that take months or years of play just to get up in levels! .. with no thought of even getting close to having any “top gear” from them… that is grindy. (to me)
When I first started playing GW2 I leveled so fast and gear was showered down on me in such volumn I told my friends it reminded me of a old fasioned “Monty Haul” dungeon (for you old AD&D players out there!).
it goes a bit too fast actually… im level 80 in a 60-70 zone and my story is lvl 68.
ive unlocked 4 dungeons indisnt have time to even reach on the map.
just doing the story mode on these cant take me forever… reaching the place, but most challenging; finding a group.
just play the game.
there is no ranking in Wvwvw…. barely no reward.
dying 1 time more per 10h of play because you have 1% stat less is… marginal.
WoW makes more money, people like WoW, Gw2 was dropping in players and couldnt keep the hardcore grinding crowd of vertical progressionists.
i remember countless post on the forums… people didnt know what to do, doing plinx over and over again…
its time to realize; with a treadmill the players complain, but they keep playing.
same thing as you keep working but you keep complaining about work;
humans are kittened !
FotM is the way to go for the elitist types.
its like their treadmill, and THEY HAVE to be BETTER than the other players.
forget their souls for they are lost.
focus on your game and have fun as you used to.
soon, anet will spread the population a bit more and you will be able to complete your story mode dungeons…
indeed, if you feel like grinding the fractals for 60 hours for the shinny; so be it, have fun.
thing is, most people goal in pve in this (lets say it) simplistic in its way game, is to explore, kill badies and find gear.
eventually (maybe around 300h) you have explored a lot of the map/dungeon and you have the best gear.
so whats left ? new gears and new maps.
thats the game, and its fine. and i dont feel that threatened by a player who played 10times as much as me… really… i just play and its fine.
but it kind of scks that its almost impossible to do story dungeons anymore..
