A bow firing flying rainbow unicorns

always makes me laugh how people are apparently too manly and/or serious to be able to bear the presence of this bow.

Yup, the same thing happened at release with ppl complaining about mesmer and purple butterflies effects… it just didn’t suit their manly man aesthetics.

I also have a sneaking suspicion ppl complaining about it being “childish”..are probably 15-25 and desperate to prove how adult they are.

wait here…
i m ok with purple butterflies. its kind of magical, kind of very jrpg. it’s allright.
but a bow shooting unicorns ?
what next ? pistols with fart sounds and a shield with pee wee herman’s face on it ??

i guess the game is not discriminating and EVERYBODY can find something they like, even the “different” peeps.

It’s kinda hard to not pick up on the undercurrent of homophobia in a lot of the complaints in this thread… but way to make it crystal clear.

Caught that comment and couldn’t go silent.

I hope it is very clear that there is absolutely nothing to do with homophobia in my anti-rainbow/anti-unicorn opinion. It is the breaking of immersion that annoys me. The effect would be exactly the same if the bow shot flaming Rock Dogs: it just makes absolutely no sense.

you see, its easy to skill swap. its part of the gameplay. they made it super easy you can do it straight in the hotbar…

probably gw2 would have been even better if you reduce the map size by 25% but then add 10 more dungeons.

with how much BETTER the fotm are in term of design, i cant wait to see more!

if you have 20 rings, you are definitely in an hardcore gamer catgeory.
+ not everybody does fracals, so not everybody have these rings.

still… how many fractal did you do for 20 rings..
omg.

i think most people like to do dungeon and raids.
that s a problem for the open pve, which became mostly a one shot deal or a level up thing.

GW2 is not a Grinder.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Avatar.1923

until there is a precise definition to grind… its hard to judge.

imo “grind” is as soon as you start repeating content.
and i find that gw2 as almost no forced repeat content.
maybe dungeons a little bit, and even then.
you can go 99% max stat and see 100% of the content without repeating anything not even once.
if you keep playing pve after having seen 100% its because you choose to grind. then i think you souldnt complain.

Avatar.1923

GW2 isnt a grinder.

you can unlock an play 100% of the content without grinding and be as good as anybody else in wvwvw.

grind is for cosmetics or increased difficulty (fotm) only.

people who grind do it because they want to.
people who complain about the grind… i better not say my opinion ill get infracted.

simply said. theres a big part of the game you dont do.

if you start an alt, do the story or map completion and itll be decked out in exotic.

its your logic that totally fails.
you dont need to grind for “more”.
just level up alts if its your game.
why stick in orr to level other toons faster ???

I’ve been doing Orr farming and I agree with you that most efficient ways for me to earn money on my 80 now that I’ve “completed” the world (hearts, vistas, skill challenges, etc.) is kind of boring and grindy.

I don’t do fractals or dungeons, so advice regarding that isn’t helpful to me. I don’t really PvP. Orr gets tedious, but it’s still a faster way to amass money and materials than leveling up a couple dozen characters to 80, selling everything I get as I go.

Mostly, I take breaks to ease the grind feeling, which is okay. I’m seriously beginning to consider how many alts I really want to keep since I don’t see myself with enough money and/or materials to get exotics for each of them.

well, you re saying its “tedious” but thats all you seem to like doing in the game.
no dungeon, no pvp…
actually, “why” do you keep farming ?
to get that legendary weapon and put the game aside ?
i would like to understand you, but cant.

combat rules man!
try to do the the jumping puzzle in the eternal battleground! i assure you its the best dungeon of the game.
(btw the only combat i personally dont like is zerg vs zerg, i find skirmishes amazing!)

hey…. they should do that…. “pvp dungeons”….

i soloed orr without any problem aside for the temples.

i never understand these complaints about orr.
seriously, you want a faceroll game to farm and farm boringly?
i say; high risks high rewards.
open world farming; barf!
did the grawl farming in frostgorge for like 5 minutes because somebody asked and i hated myself and the game.
that some people will do that for hours is not understandable.

So those who played gw1 just for the farming or any of the diablo games you cant see why ppl enjoy that ? once i finished the story i farmed for most of the time in gw1 as it was fun finding a rare weapon.

Gw2 was built for DE which should reward the same as any dungeon FoTm inc. This is a failing of the game atm but maybe Jan/Feb patch will balance this out more, as if i wanted to be in a dungeon crawler better games with auto LFG exsist for me.

Btw Orr isnt hard its just annoying.

ok, so you dislike dungeons and dislike high level difficult farming.
gotta work for that loot man!
or just go kill a dragon, its quite easy, stay there auto attack with the bow and thats it!
happy farming!

Same boat as you Avatar. I have plenty I still feel like I could do. People seem to forget how to have fun with the world. You don’t need to make it a grind. Variety is the spice of life.

there is a base that is very competitve in “pve”.
which i think is completely pointless to be in gw2.

still.
i know some people farm and farm and complain… i just dont see the point of it.
and then pvp requires no farming.
so really… i think people are weird sometimes farming to rule pve

i dont think the average player is over 300h by a lot.

Why is symbol of swiftness so bad?

in Guardian

Posted by: Avatar.1923

Avatar.1923

the staff is a “utility” weapon with a good basic spam attack.

but agreed;
line of warding is not a good/fun skill the way its done now.
symbol of switfness is just bad aside for travelling. maybe as a larger radius it would find some use as more peeps in melee would be affect by it.
empower should be castable while moving or have a reduced casting time.
sphere is allright, not impressive but allright.
wave attack 1 is godly.

^ guardian is bad in 1vs1.

at least vs
thieves, mesmers and eles.
the whole wvw is filled with them…

i dont know.. make the stealth show just a slight visual (blur) effect only so that its not totally stupid.
as a guardian i dont like pvp, i play thieves and mesmers.

Guardians arent bad on 1v1, but they lack of some mechaninc to reduce heavy kiting.(and on WvW this is really annoying.)
Just from devs concept, guardians are not supposed to be a mobile class or a good ranged class, so the only option they really need is a more accessible slowdown condition, like cripple.

it makes sense.
i just feel that for the high mobility and aoe and ranged attack required in WvW, guards just dont cut it.
and if you spec to get those, then your kitten in all the essential guard stuff like the self heal.

Lets talk Lore

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Avatar.1923

it must be very difficult to make everything gel together and equal for everybody.

my main concern is not the fact that some people will experience the conflicts differently, it is more that as a casual player who was enjoying the lore, i got disapointed by some… turn offs:

fractal of the mist
-unexplained bits of random lore that doesnt make sense.
seriously this could have been made more lore related, EASILY.

wvwvw
-fighting for your server? which happens to have a region (that you cant go to) name ?
why not give the server some kind of very wide non restrictive identity and let player choose what they fight for?
i think Teso is doing something very good with their “a player can be crowned emperor” thing. its way cool!

lion’s arch
-definitely need some kind of leader!
this one isnt a major issue, just that i think its weird!

im ok with the amount of player now.
its kind of more realistic than seeing hundred of players running around like at a THEMEPARK!

with only some players here and there, it creates nice events with only a few players participating.

all in all, im more of a “social” type player, so instanced content is cooler for me.
open world feels more like a single player game so might as well not be too many peeps there.

sometimes its epic.
i was doing frostgorge map, solo, then when i arrived at the dungeon gate, 2 people standing there. i said in looking forward to do this dungeon story mode, they said “us too, actually we were missing one person”, so i ended up finishing my evening with a dungeon run.

all in all, i mix and match my gametime.
-some solo map explore
-some standing in LA looking for dungeon group (random dungeon most of the time, i dont like grinding, so i take the first opportunity and stack up dungeon token as it goes, i have like a bunch of all dungeons now!
-some wvwvw when the guildies feel like it

so really, game is diverse depending on my mood.

oh, and in skyrim too, but they arent really customizable.

but nowadays, adding a house, customizable, is a lot of work.
imo they sould focus on guild house.
these would be cool.
they could be in instances and maybe guilds could “challenge” other guilds to fight on their turf.

You realize that isn’t the case at all?

It means that if you enjoy WvW you are forced to do PvE, and if you enjoy PvE you are forced to do WvW? You can’t just do one and get 100%.

Its the total opposite of what you described.

definitely.
already having a hard time seeing whats happening or able to see the enemy character model enough to enjoy it.
in 1st person the screen will ne one big flash i suppose. and probably the animation arent that tight either so its gonna look weird.
not mentioning the clipping and collision, pretty sure the sword will go right thru the monster graphic making it look cheesy.

Amazingly, in a game that’s 10+ years old (FFXI) I can press one key and switch from third-person to first-person view .. and in spite of what someone said earlier, combat in first-person is often far better than third-person.

Wonder why modern MMOs don’t make it as easy to switch instantly from one view to the other?

eventually.
mmos have a long way to go. they are big game requiring different technical stuff to make sure eveyrything is player proof.

but it ll get better! anet is gaining tremendous amount of experience right now.
i am quite sure, if they ever saddle up to do a new mmo in a few years, it ll be a masterpiece.

otherwise, studios that specialize in mmos are becomin more and more common, the industry is still in its infancy (maybe teenage years actually).

i would bet that this new content is mostly just a grind for new shinies. done well.
its kind of smart to reward “dailies” as it means the dev can put a speed limit on how fast players can aquire the laurels.

imo, its hard to tell what the dev should focus on, but they seem to need to buy themselves some time.
can t believe how many dungeons are getting cheated thru, with all kind of weird bugs.
but gotta give it to the dev,
the game is great, i can t believe how some people ditched an insane amount of hours in that single game, repeating the content over and over! (this is my first mmo)
